> Twilight & Sunset’s Big Fat Holiday Trip > by Lonely Fanboy48 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Underway Road Trip > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the final day of the school year, the students of Canterlot High came out after the bell rang. The holidays are just a few days away, but like everyone else, the Rainbooms have everything sorted out. Upon getting the call from Victoria involving her family trip to Dimondia town, her two daughters not only wanted a performance from the band itself, but also with them dressed in red hats and uniforms to spread more cheer and celebration at the Hearth’s Warming festival. In the hallways, Sunset and her friends are eating some frosted holiday cookies after getting them from the cafeteria. But much to everyone’s surprise, Princess Twilight spent the whole day meeting the students just to spread more cheer. “Who’s ready for the Hearth’s Warming holiday!?” Pinkie cheered to which her friends agreed. “Tell me about it, Victoria’s family coming together, it feels like the good old days in my family.” Applejack smiled, while eating her cookie. “I got to say, Lily Pad and Water Lily are probably the luckiest children to have a mother like her.” Princess Twilight added. “You don’t say?” Human Twilight raising an eyebrow while smirking. “Where have you been?” “Probably giving friendship lessons to fillies over the last five months?” Fluttershy rolled her eyes. “Although it’s sad that you're not coming along to our trip.” “I have to celebrate with my friends and family at Equestria. Last year was lucky, but this year, I’m not risking it.” While the Princess Of Friendship took a bite of her cookie, she didn’t realize that her friend from the other side and Sunset had overheard her statement. She didn’t take the time to finish her cookie, even while heading to the entrance to the courtyard without bumping into someone. Spending time with Princess Twilight in the classes they’re in for less than forty five minutes at a time wasn’t enough for her. Not to mention the times she came back to this world, they never truly had the quality time she wanted to have with the Princess. “So...your feeling that Water Lily can handle the festival even without you?” Rarity wondered. “You all saw what I did back at Everfree Forest when I brought Flurry Heart along. Let me tell you, when a child who's almost three years old eventually grows up, it’ll come to a point where she won’t see me anymore.” Sunset then stopped herself, she can’t even bear for what her future would hold without the assent of the only friend she has from the Mirror World. “Sunset?” Rainbow turned around. “What’s wrong?” With her friends stopping in place before heading out the entrance, Sunset signed, closing her eyes while lowering her head. “Is your cookie full of bad holiday luck?” Pinkie asked, leaning forward. “No, it’s not like we’re all having bad luck because cookies with frosting would automatically become coal.” “Then, is there something you’re missing until we leave?” Human Twilight asked. “As a matter of fact, there is.” Sunset lifted her head up while looking straight at Princess Twilight. “Twilight, can we go outside for a minute?” As Princess Twilight nodded, she and Sunset headed outside in the courtyard. With the outdoors covered in snow, clouds covering the sky, the two walked up to the statue. “So, it’s no surprise that I’m not coming with you?” Twilight wondered. “Yes.” Sunset replied, straightening her mittens. “I always respect your life just like every one of your friends. But the more I think about it…” She stopped herself, leaving her princess friend confused. “We never spent any decent stretch of time together since you’ve been coming back.” “What do you mean? I was your partner in one of your classes.” “True, but not what best friends do when they go outside of the school.” “I, I, I...don’t really understand what you mean?” In a moment that became more awkward, Sunset pasted a bit for a few seconds, not long until she turned to her friend. “Everytime you come over, do activities like going on a yacht with us, exposing the Dazzlings at the Starswirl Festival, and even going on a jet ski race with Rainbow Dash…” “Yes?” “We have never hung out as friends ever since then.” After letting it out, Twilight caught on. Aside from the visits from Sunset to Equestria, she couldn’t even remember the last time she spent quality time with her. “Sorry you're feeling like this but...I don’t really have a choice right now.” “It’s not like I'm blaming you whatsoever.” Twilight placed her hands on her hips, thinking about Sunset’s trip to the Hearth’s Warming festival. When it comes to her plans at Equestria, it’s the same route like every other year, but she never skips a holiday like Hearth’s Warming. “I care about my friends a lot more. If I really ditch my time with them on Hearth’s Warming Eve, they would think I would prefer their other selves, which I don’t.” “Technically, our Twilight is what you...somewhat...never mind.” Sunset blushed. “Well, I don’t usually hang out with her all the time like before but...you’re kind of right.” Twilight also blushed. “But for the amount of times Spike and Starlight got my back, I’m sure they’re not gonna handle double the work for the fifth time.” “Twilight, the thing is, unlike Starlight who came with us to the Starswirl Festival, Spike hasn’t been a dog since the whole Sirens spell takeover at Canterlot High. He hasn’t even met his other self.” Twilight sighed after hearing what Sunset’s talking about. “I only met Twilight’s dog once...if I ever told Spike that, he might be interested to meet him, but I can’t guarantee he would want a friend who behaves as a dog.” As much as Sunset agrees with her princess friend, she thinks otherwise. “I’ve only met Spike a few times. It seems he wanted to do more than being around to help you with your work.” “Then you clearly don’t know what it feels to have an assistant like him.” Twilight turned to the portal to Equestria. “When it comes to Starlight Glimmer and Rainbow Dash, I’m sure they won’t skip their holiday tradition with their friends. I mean, how many people are you bringing along?” “Almost fifteen.” Sunset being honest. “The Cutie Mark Crusaders, Big Mac, Granny Smith, Trixie and Spike.” “Okay so...is it any different to have me around?” “Not even close, They wanted to come along so they can do something for a change during this holiday.” Twilight had never forgotten the many friends she made in the past. If she knew what they were doing right now, she would make it up to each one before she stayed in Equestria permanently. “Look, I get it, but what I want from you is to spend a full day. Yes it won’t be an adventure but...I doubt we'll ever have that chance before it’s too late.” “Then when are you going to leave to Dimondia town?” “First thing in the morning.” Upon getting the information, Twilight may have the day off tomorrow, but the following day, she’ll have to go Hearth’s Warming shopping. The thought of spending one day with Sunset Shimmer at Dimondia town is interesting enough, regarding the risks of changing her plans. Meanwhile, the Rainbooms were watching Twilight and Sunset, through the door windows. “You sure they’re working this out, because I don’t think they are.” Fluttershy spoked. “It seems like Sunset wanted more for this holiday.” Applejack said, placing her hands on her hips. “Are you really surprised by this, darlings?” Rarity rolled her eyes while smiling. “It’s no surprise that Twilight might come with us. This is like the ninth time she’s come over to our world.” Human Twilight had spent more than enough time with Princess Twilight, but the more she remembers, her closest friend never really had a chance to hang out with her. Aside from helping the princess to find a gift for Water Lily last year, she usually would have anyone else come first, leaving her out of the fold. She headed out of the main entrance, with her friends taking notice. Princess Twilight and Sunset Shimmer both saw their bookworm friend walking out while putting on her earmuffs. “Is it a surprise that coming here seems like a problem with your pony life?” Human Twilight asked, turning to her counterpart. “If you were the one coming over, I would say the same thing.” Princess Twilight being honest. “But would I blame you?” “No, but Dimondia town is two hours away from here. You sure it’s a good idea to come along?” The Princess Of Friendship may consider joining the Rainbooms in their performance, but spending four hours to drive there and back, all the while being part of the Hearth’s Warming festival would take up the whole day. And at the same time, she never received a map of what the town is like, making her wonder if she’s making the right choice. “Okay, I know this isn’t necessary but...I’ve gained some cash during my time here right?” “From being part of the parade at Equestria Land and helping Camp Everfree’s charity, you have way more than you think.” Sunset recalled. “Because if there’s shops at Dimondia town, I want to at least make a list to give my friends a gift on Hearth’s Warming.” “You mean, friends like the Shadowbolts, Wallflower Blush, Desert Sage?” Human Twilight guessed to which her counterpart nodded. “Why would you want to do that?” “Because if I never come back here again, I might as well give them gifts of...my departure from their lives.” “That’s...actually not that bad of an idea.” Sunset smiled with her eyes open. “Granted this would be tougher than last year’s, but it’s better to give them something before...you move on.” Soon, the rest of the Rainbooms came out, with Canterlot High’s supervisors demanding them to leave. “We’re gonna be heading home now!” Rainbow Dash shouted. “If the Princess Of Friendship does come, have her do some sightseeing!” Applejack added. “And there’s gonna be lots of games at the Hearth’s Warming festival!” Pinkie squealed. “YOU WON’T REGRET IT!” With the Rainbooms heading home for the day, Twilight knows she shouldn’t be alone. “And I’m sure Starlight, Rainbow Dash, Flurry Heart and especially Spike won’t.” “Looks like our road trip group has been expanded.” Human Twilight smiled. “Spike is definitely gonna have the best holiday of his life, I can tell you that.” Sunset smirked while eating her cookie. “I’ll tell them everything while I’ll make the list. We'll be here as soon as we can in the morning.” Princess Twilight closed her eyes in delight. “Besides, I actually enjoyed wearing that red and white outfit last year.” “Most girls love being that curtain woman, that’s why this holiday will never get old.” Princess Twilight heads through the portal back to Equestria, while her friends head home, making more preparations while packing up for their trip. It won’t be any different for the future that comes next year, but they’re not willing to skip their potential final moments as close friends. Although it doesn’t change how their trip will always be unpredictable. “Do you think any boy would find us attractive when we perform?” Human Twilight wondered. “I...haven’t even thought about that, I should've told Twilight that before she left.” Sunset scratched on the back of her head. “Even the others won’t like it.” “Is that a problem?” “Not sure, we never met anyone who lives near Dimondia town.” “Especially the fans who only listen to our music. I’ve got a feeling Victoria’s family aren’t the only ones who’d love to meet us in person.” Sunset looked up at the sky in annoyance. “Do you think Princess Twilight has enough friends as it is. She’s maybe the Princess Of Friendship, but not the Princess Of Getting As Many Friends As Humanly Possible!” Human Twilight lowered her head while sighing. “It was just a figure of speech, you don’t have to get personal.” > Roadblock In The Snowy Mountains > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The following morning, Twilight and her friends emerged from the portal, with Starlight holding onto Flurry Heart. Lucky for them, it stopped snowing last night, only a couple inches of snow rested on the ground, as such, the sidewalk was not unduly slippery. Unfortunately for Spike, it’s been far too long since the last time he turned into a dog. “Everything didn’t really change when the Sirens left.” He said, looking at Canterlot High. “Well, if only you actually came along, you would catch on.” Princess Twilight replied, putting her coat on. When Rainbow Dash got up after coming into the Mirror World, she saw a bus in the distance where her human counterpart was helping her friends with the packing. “Looks like we’re here just in time.” She pointed with her friends, turning to the Rainbooms. “I don’t see Water Lily or her family.” Starlight focusing on the bus. “They’re probably still packing up while taking their own car.” Twilight turned to Starlight. “They still don’t know we’re coming along, or me at the very least.” “Hey, they always expect surprises during Hearth’s Warming.” Twilight and her group made their way to the Rainbooms and their bus. After Human Twilight placed the luggage and outfits inside, she came out of the door with her Spike coming along. “Is there gonna be-” “Yes, I’m sure there will be other animals at Dimondia Town for you to play with.” Human Twilight said, cutting off her dog. As Spike stepped out of the bus, he saw Princess Twilight and the others coming closer. But his attention was attracted to their dog, who is the same as he is, but not completely. He shakes his tail while rushing up to his counterpart, only for Fluttershy to pick him up. “Please save your energy.” She responded while Spike resisted. “Understand that he isn’t a dog like you.” “He’s still too thrilled to wait, we still have two hours until we get there.” Sunset replied as she saw Princess Twilight. “You're here just in time.” “Like every other time in the past?” The princess giggled. “It’s no longer a problem when I’m prepared.” “And friends.” Starlight added as she had Flurry Heart head inside the bus. Soon, Human Dash came out with a huge smile on her face. “Knew there was a chance my other self would return.” She squealed. “If it isn't today, it would never be at all.” Pony Dash giggled. “You girls get back into the bus, we’re almost done packing up.” Sunset offered. “It would be better to save the excitement for when we get there.” “Sorry.” Human Dash blushed. “Still can’t believe she’s the only one allowed here.” “It would be a possibility, but let’s not take too big of a risk.” Princess Twilight said. As everything’s taken care of, everyone got inside the bus with Big Mac behind the wheel. When Princess Twilight sat next to Sunset Shimmer, she saw the Cutie Marks Crusaders, Granny Smith, and Trixie in the back. “Is Applejack’s grandmother gonna spend time with the elderly people?” “She isn’t always available for making food, you know.” Sunset smiled. “But I don’t blame Applejack for bringing her family along for the ride.” “What about the Cutie Mark Crusaders?” Upon hearing the question, Rarity from the other side poked on Twilight’s shoulder. “My sister’s gonna do festival services so she can earn some cash for herself.” She answered. “Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle are also willing to help in the same way.” Applejack added. “But about thirty minutes before our performance, their time will be up.” Twilight never gets what the Cutie Mark Crusaders' purpose in this world was, since Cutie Marks don’t exist in this world. Then again, every place she went to didn’t need magical requirements. “I know the real reason they’re doing it is to do good deeds for Hearth’s Warming.” “We all do good deeds, it makes everything about this holiday perfect.” Sunset added. “Then again, we’re getting a head start by heading there, so we should expect what deeds are coming our way.” Big Mac drove out of the parking space while looking through the GPS. Dimondia Town is located in the west, a few hours away from Canterlot City. Even if the Rainbooms did go on tour to go to different countries, they can’t imagine what the citizens would feel, including a princess with her friends tagging along. Over the next hour and a half, Big Mac drove on the highway, to the interstate exit that leads to his destination. Aside from the two Rainbow Dashes and Pinkie Pie sleeping, they spend their time on their phones or do sightseeing from their windows. The Princess Of Friendship waited patiently like a princess would behave. Even her plans with Sunset aren’t made up but once she sees the festival itself, she’ll do anything to give her the time she deserves. “Man, there's so much snow here.” Starlight said, looking through her window. “It must’ve snowed harder than in our neighborhood.” Sunset commented. “Even some of the tree stumps are torn up.” Applejack added. “Man the blizzard really hates this mother nature of the forest.” Pinkie added. “Even the Everfree Forest never had blizzards like this.” Fluttershy added. When the Princess Of Friendship saw the snow outside, she couldn’t even describe it. Ponyville didn’t have this many blizzards to cause mountains of snow changing ponies day. “Do you think the people of Dimondia Town always shovel before the Hearth’s Warming Festival even starts?” She asked, turning to Sunset. “They have at least two snowplow tracks, and they clear up their front yards, if that  ever happens to me, I’ll let everyone as soon as I step outside.” Sunset responded. They then heard the bus slowing down with Big Mac parking by the side of the road. “Big Mac, why did you stop?” Granny Smith standing up from her seat. “Yeah, what gives?” Dragon Spike popping his head up. Big Mac didn’t respond after he saw what’s in front of him. He opened the bus door, without saying a word, allowing the Rainbooms to check it out for themselves. When they got out, they witnessed ten vehicles parked with close to twenty people on the road. The group saw what was going on from the front, but they needed a better look to negotiate. Twilight and Sunset went through the group while noticing Water Lily’s family from the left. Once they went past the final car, they saw the issue. Multiple large trees fell on the road after the blizzard from last night. The Princess Of Friendship didn’t believe it at first, but with a huge roadblock in the traffic, she became disappointed. “I’ve had this problem before, but this feels very out of nowhere.” She spoked. “We can still move these.” Sunset pointed. “Applejack can lift these. Applejack!” She turned back only for the country girl to see the problem. “These trees caused this traffic jam huh?” She went past her friends. “It won’t take long for you to move them.” “Better for us and better for cityfolk.” As Applejack uses her powers of strength to lift one of the trees. Human Twilight along with others saw the roadblock of trees but her attention was glued to the strumps. With five of the trees closer to each other, they we’re holding off a huge pile of snow from the hill. Even after they were tempered over, they’re still connected from the ground. When Applejack tried to pull one of the trees, a few flakes from the pile fell, but also a few trees from a higher hill. “Applejack, stop right now!” Human Twilight called. “What?” “If you pull or even tear the trees from the stump, an avalanche may happen.” The country girl saw what’s above the hill and decided to place the tree on the ground. It was impossible to avoid it and if it happened, it would take up more time to move the trees. “I would believe you for a second if we only saw the other side.” Fluttershy uses her geode to grow her wings from her back as she flies over the crowd. She saw the road cleared up without anything in the way, but there’s no way the crowd can get to their destination. “Anything over there?” Starlight asked. “No, but we can’t just carry each car over this roadblock.” Fluttershy landed on the ground. “You're right.” Starlight added. “There’s gonna be more cars, even from the other side.” When they saw Victoria on the phone, she immediately hung up while turning to the other citizens. “I’ve just called woodsman people who'll be on their way to handle this. Unfortunately it would take longer until the road is cleared up.” The citizens signed in disappointment while the Rainbooms couldn't even catch a break. After packing over the last few weeks, their holiday has come to a screeching halt. “Well look on the bright side, at least it wasn’t corrupted magic this time.” Pinkie smiled. “Yeah, like that will ever leave Mother Nature the way it should be.” Rarity said sarcastically, rolling her eyes. Another car parked behind the Rainbooms bus with two grown teens coming out. When they saw the crowd gathering up due to the roadblock, they didn’t bother to see the problem. “Really!?” Izzy Moonbow cried. “After all that shopping and planning, we end up with a dead end?!” “Izzy, I didn’t think this would happen.” Sunny Starscout replied. “I’ve got a text from Hitch that he already arrived at Dimondia town last night. We should’ve taken his word.” “If only we never did our shopping last night, we wouldn’t be in this predicament!” Soon everyone including the Rainbooms headed back to their vehicles only for Sunset to see two girls in the middle of the road. “You might as well celebrate Hearth’s Warming somewhere else.” She spoked while walking past them. “But we don’t have backup plans!” Izzy cried. “What can we do?” Human Dash looking straight to the teen. “It’s impossible to get there by now.” With more of the Rainbooms walking past her, the two teens caught their attention on the two Twilights. When the princess gave her speech last year, they got the information from their classmates at school. “Hey, I remember her…” Sunny said, pointing at the Princess. “Are you Twilight Sparkle?” Upon hearing her name loud and clear, Princess Twilight opened her eyes. “Yes, I am.” Izzy is shaking in happiness to meet one of the most famous people or in this case, famous ponies on this holiday. “I can’t believe this is actually happening!” “Don’t you think it’s worth getting thrilled while the road is blocked?” Human Twilight responded. “At this point, playing with my other self doesn’t seem worth it anymore.” Doggy Spike lowered his head. “No offense but you need to consider-“ Dragon Spike gets cut off by Princess Twilight who also picks him up. “The point is, we were going to Dimondia town for the Hearth’s Warming festival.” She said nicely. “So if your offering to take a selfie with me, right now is the time.” “Wait.” Sunny stopped her best friend before taking out her phone. “There could be a way to get to Dimondia on foot.” “Really!” Pinkie Pie popping by Izzy after overhearing. “What do you mean by that!?” Sunset heading back before she got inside the bus. Sunny took out her phone while pulling out her map. “I’ve been on this road a few times and I’ve seen multiple trails up ahead.” She pointed at three open trails with different directions on the way. “They will lead to our destination in just about…” She checked her watch. “Almost three hours.” The Princess Of Friendship and her counterpart turned around and saw the roadblock again. If it’s possible to get there in time before the festival ends, they might be able to get back to their old schedule. “That could work.” The Princess smiled. “Everyone stop!” Sunset shouted to the citizens before they started up their vehicles. “If one of you has anywhere to be that’s over that roadblock, there are trails that could get you there!” Victoria while holding onto Water Lily, head back to the Rainbooms, including Lily Pad. “Perfect!” She cheered. “It’s impressive there’s a chance we can get there way before the sun sets!” “But wait.” Lily wondered. “There’s three trails, what trail should we take?” Just when the entire group was rejoicing, they almost forgot about that. “Ohh...I know for sure we’re gonna have differences, one out of three trails could be a tough choice.” Human Twilight taken into consideration. “We can’t just agree on going on one trail.” Applejack chimed in. The group thinked about what trail they should take. And to make matters even worse, they have to carry their gifts and supplies in order to perform at the festival. “Okay.” Princess Twilight coming up with a solution. “If we’re gonna pick one of the three trails, we need to split up.” “Can’t agree more than that.” Sunset said, rolling her eyes. > Two Lovely Missile Toe Ladies > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The entire group went over the roadblock itself, leading to the three trails that’ll take them to Dimondia. They split up into three groups, expecting to get to their location before they’re too late. Princess Twilight and Sunset’s group took the second trail while taking Flurry Heart, Water Lily, Human Twilight, Sunny Starscout and Izzy Moonbow along. “You’re feeling a little freezy?” Izzy called from the back. “No.” Twilight responded while holding onto Flurry Heart. “But, I’m still not enjoying this.” “Hey, at the very least, Applejack and Rarity are taking care of the packages, all we’re carrying is our outfits.” Sunset said, looking at her backpack while holding onto Water Lily’s hand. The Princess Of Friendship would improve on Sunset’s positivity, but going on a hike during the winter, just to arrive at the Hearth’s Warming festival, isn’t helping at all. She keeps her focus on the trail, the snow reaching her achilles heel with every step she takes, it’s downright stressful to be in a good mood. Without a response, Sunset lowered her head, unable to cheer her friend up even when they’re together still. She can’t even think of another way to lighten the mood. To her left, there were only trees and hills that weren't big enough for any sightseeing. “I’m sure they will be mountains once we get there.” “If we have time for ice sledding that is.” Human Twilight responded. Sunny and Izzy knew the girls weren't in a good mood when their roadtrip stopped. Once they began their hike over twenty minutes ago, they prevented any more problems with them, but it’s harder for Izzy to control her obsession. “Izzy, if this is way too hard for you, why don’t you ask one question to them every five seconds?” Sunny offered. “It’s fine for her to ask a few questions if they’re accurate enough.” Princess Twilight said, turning her head. “Sweet!” Izzy rushed up to the princess. “Are you gonna give a speech there?” “No.” “Being in a few holiday activities?” “Possibly if I’m not tired.” “You think you can be my partner?” When Princess Twilight looked straight at Izzy, a no wouldn’t be a good answer but she didn’t forget the list she made last night. “Don’t take this the wrong way, but I’m not here to make more friends.” Izzy felt a little disappointed from Twilight’s answer, but gave her another question. “Why aren’t you making more friends?” “Because I’m more focused on the gifts I need to buy for my friends.” The Princess took out her list from her pocket while handing it to Izzy. When Izzy opened it up, she saw the names written on the left with square boxes on the right. “There’s like, more than ten people on here.” “I have enough cash, it’s all in my backpack.” When Sunny walked up to Izzy, she saw the princess’s list. “Is this why you're here?” “Mostly, but it’s just my main goal.” “Her goal is to show her friendship to her friends before she leaves forever.” Human Twilight filling in. “It’s a long long story.” While Izzy didn’t like what she heard, her friend on the other hand didn’t mind not hearing the story involving the Princess Of friendship. “I never had a lot of friends like you, and by the looks of it, you have way too much on your hands.” The Princess Of Friendship sighed while seeing Sunny’s point of view. “Let’s just say I’m one of the only girls who has more friends.” “That includes us two.” Sunset added. “If only we didn’t go on foot, we would’ve been more occupied with gift ideas.” “Well look on the bright side, there’s a Dimondia hunt while you can wrap your presents.” Sunny smiled. “I like wrapping presents!” Water Lily cheered with Flurry Heart giggling in delight. “That is...if we can get there in time.” Human Twilight added. “Okay, we’re sorry we’re not being very kind, but walking to a town that’s thirty miles away was the last thing we had in mind.” The Princess confessed. “It would only be nice if we did this once we got there.” “Hey, we can still do something on the way.” Izzy replied. “There’s stores on this trail.” “Like antique shops?” “Something like that.” Sunny took out her phone. “Once we head back to the road, there should be a beauty parlour open.” “Now that’s something Vignette would go to.” Princess Twilight checking out the map from Sunny’s phone. The group walked up to the road, seeing the beauty parlour shop from the other side. There were no cars parked whatsoever but the shop is still open. “This is odd.” Sunny started at the shop in the distance. “The last time I went to this shop, there we’re a lot of people inside.” “It’s the Hearth’s Warming holiday.” Sunset recalled. “I’m certain people don’t need to wear makeup while they’re busy.” “Unless one of my friends is Rarity.” Human Twilight added. “She’ll go to the salon if she feels like it.” They walked past the road and stepped foot on the parking lot. Izzy looks through the window and all she sees is a fifteen year old boy checking his monitor. “I got to say, he’s not having the best holiday right now.” When Princess Twilight saw the teenager himself, he felt too shallow being in a building with no one to keep him occupied. None of the HD TVs inside were on unless one or two customers were getting their hair dyed. “You sure just buying perfume would be a good idea?” Sunset wondered. “Because I’m sure Vignette has just as many types of perfume as Rarity.” “If I knew more about her, we could’ve kept going on our hike.” Princess Twilight turned to Sunset. “But there could be a perfume that’s only limited in shops like this.” “What makes you think that?” Her counterpart wondered. “Vignette sometimes picks the perfume that’s appropriate for the month. If she ever had a perfume in a holiday like this, I’m sure there’s so many different types of Hearth’s Warming perfumes she wouldn't come across.” The group found the princess’s statement bizarre. “You sure you know what you’re talking about?” “It’s...hard to believe, but I’ve been to different shops in Equestria.” “Yeah, I’ve heard about them, but never been to Manehatten before.” Sunset replied. The group would think of the alternatives of picking the right perfume but they couldn’t get over the fact the teenager isn’t having the best time for himself. “Twilight.” Sunny turned to the Princess. “Even if we ask if he has that type of perfume, he still won’t be able to do his job completely.” The princess may not have the day to make friendships, but she can tell anyone who’s alone during this holiday, deserves more care. Unfortunately, she needs to find a way to give the teen something while not making a mistake. “This is gonna be tricky.” Izzy added. “You're right.” Princess Twilight sitting on the porch next to the door. “This is basically the price we’re getting by not taking our vehicles.” While trying to think of a way to spread the holiday cheer inside, Sunset found a solution. “I think we can give him a surprise.” She smirked. When the princess looked straight up at Sunset, she pointed at the restrooms installed by the shop. “We have our outfits right?” “Yeah, and?” Inside the beauty parlour, the teen just finished cleaning the counter to whip the dust off. After opening the shop just after the sunrise, his body became cramped after hours of waiting for someone to come in. But then, he heard the doorbell ring, revealing two customers opening the door. He finally signed in relief while Sunny and Izzy walked up to the counter. “Welcome to the beauty parlour.” He replied. “You would sit to wait until we have open seats but...we’re not really busy.” He turned to the chairs. “We don’t blame you, but…” Sunny biting her lip. “We’re not here to get our hair dyed.” Just when things were getting better, the teen immediately closed his eyes. “I’m not trying to be rude but-” “We know, you don’t have a customer today.” While being annoyed by getting interrupted, he tried to make the best of his job. “So what perfume do you want?” “We’re looking for a Hearth’s Warming specialty.” Izzy wondered. “Hold on a second.” The teen checked the shelf filled with perfumes. Upon the month beginning, he remembered to display the perfumes after a few expired. And the ones he remembered are the limited holiday perfumes that a few brought. He took one out and quickly enough, he placed it on the counter for Sunny and Izzy to see. “Winter Candy Apple perfume?” “There were other holiday perfumes, but they were sold out.” The perfume itself is red while remaining all the contents inside. “Is it okay if we can smell it?” “Sorry but you can’t. Believe me the scent is far too strong.” With the girls feeling bummed out, they’re thankful their two friends would accept the perfumes. And yet, they’re not paying it and leaving the teen alone. “Actually, we have two more friends who’ll willing to pay for this.” Sunny smiled as she turned to the door. “Come in girls!” It was the cue for Princess Twilight and Sunset Shimmer to come in to reveal themselves. They’re in their red and white uniforms with long red socks to keep them warm. They posed with their eyes opening up as they stared at the teen. The teen’s eyes shot wide from the beauty of two grown teenagers stepping foot in the parlour. “Now aren’t those hot or what?” Izzy leaning next to the employee. “I...wasn’t expecting…” The teen couldn’t say another word from the way Twilight and Sunset walked towards the counter. Sunny and Izzy got out of the way, allowing the two ladies to lean to the teen, who’s beginning to blush. “Expecting wonderful customers in a season like this?” Sunset smiled while Twilight made a cute giggle. “Seems like you're never got any surprises yet.” Twilight added. The teen was panting like crazy while trying to do his job. “You're right, so...do you want to buy this Winter Candy Apple perfume?” He picked it up to show it to Twilight and Sunset. “They were more Hearth’s Warming specialties but-” He then gets cut off when the princess placed her finger on his mouth. “No need to explain.” She spoke while giving him the cash. “While you're done bagging the perfume, come to us because we have something to say to you.” As the Princess Of Friendship removed her finger from the teen’s lips, the teen took out a plastic bag while putting the perfume in it. After putting the cash in the register, he went to the other side of the counter while giving the bag to Sunset. “I’m just saying, it’s nice to have some customers here but it isn’t enough to make me happy.” “If that’s the case, being in this shop is pointless for us huh?” Sunset said, placing her hands on her hips. “No, you girls are beautiful enough for a total makeover, what I mean is-” “You have no one to work with at the moment?” Twilight wrapped her arm around the teen’s shoulder, catching him off guard. “Anyone can tell by looking at what's inside through the windows.” Soon enough, Sunset wrapped her arm around the teen, putting him in the middle of his position. “We would expect our hair to be dyed white, but we look perfect without it.” “And for you personally, you are too cute.” The teen became flattered, unable to control himself only for Sunset to take notice. “Looks like you're about to implode from embarrassment.” “That’s right Sunset, let’s give him a gift before we leave.” Twilight puckered up and kissed the teen’s cheek, causing his heart to pound hard only for Sunset to kiss his other cheek. His face turned red while he’s smiling in joy. When the two let go of him, he covered his face with his hands, keeping all of his happiness to himself. “Best...season...EVER!” He jumped in joy. “Uhh, I think you two went too far with the kisses.” Izzy commented. “He’ll get over it after today.” Sunset smirked, while heading out with Sunny following from behind. Twilight and Izzy continued to stare at the teen, shaking in excitement after the moment that transpired out of nowhere. The princess would leave to continue her trip to Dimondia, but she’s not done yet. “You, go out and take Flurry out of Twilight’s arm. I’ll be out in a minute.” After taking her word, Izzy heads straight to the door, leaving the princess and employee alone. “Please look at me in the face.” From a tone of beauty to normal, the teen looked at Twilight while still panting heavily. “Is this the first time it ever happened to you?” “Yes.” The teen being honest. “Relax, it happens to some boys anywhere.” Twilight walked up to the teen while placing her hand on his shoulder. “For the record, that wasn’t really professional for employee services.” “If I was the one coming in like this while you're working here, would you feel the same?” This caused Twilight to slightly blush. “You really know how to turn logic around on someone.” “Says the lady who gives free kisses.” Outside of the beauty parlour, Twilight came out while her best friend Sunset crossed her arms with a smile. “Told you it would work.” She walked up to the princess. “And that is only the first of our quality time together.” “I’m letting you know, I’m not a kisser in experience.” Princess Twilight signed. “If you lived your life as a teenanger, you would see how we feel when we’re doing a kissing spree.” Human Twilight commented. “Pretty sure if there were more people here, they would feel uncomfortable or jealous.” Sunny added. “You never know when a holiday like this lifts everyone's spirit.” Izzy said, closing her eyes in delight. > The Glamorous Express > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rarity, Applejack, Starlight, Trixie, Granny Smith and Victoria took the third trail after splitting up from the group. Soon they walked up a hill, taking the higher route than what the other groups took. Applejack had been carrying all the luggage since they left, but she soon dropped a few accessories. “Dang it!” She stopped herself. Starlight picked up a few clothes that were dropped. “Are you sure this was a good idea?” She wondered. “Because darling, if we take this trail, there’s a train station up here.” Rarity answered. “Rarity, as much as I agree with you, do you really think there’s going to be a train waiting up there?” Victoria called. “Especially if it’s gonna take us to Dimondia town.” Granny Smith added. “I’ve seen the map on Sunny’s phone, granted we may have to wait when it comes, but it will be worth it.” Rarity can see a roof on top of the hill. “It seems we’re gonna find out soon.” When they got to the top, they saw the train station but no train had arrived. “Well, you're right on that but…” Trixe walking up to Rarity. “There’s no ride for us.” The country girl checked the rails from the left and right with no train in sight. “You think we should come back and take the other trails?” She turned to Rarity. “We can try to catch up to the other groups.” The Fashionista would take her friend’s word but on the other hand, she picked this trail while leading her group. “No.” She answered. “I don’t want you to carry everything while walking.” “I have super strength. Just dropping a few things is the problem.” “And we can still pick them up.” Starlight added. “I can guarantee us as passengers, the engine driver will be welcome to allow us in, including our luggage.” Rarity smiled. Both Victoria and Granny Smith checked the rails while also looking in both directions. It’s a possibility it will take them to Dimondia town, but the train might go in the opposite direction. “I don’t know, we could be here all day while missing the festival.” Granny replied. “Wait.” Victoria looked closely to the left. “I can see steam.” “Steam?” Starlight looking at the rail to the left. Soon a horn sounded. “Looks like we made it in time.” Applejack commented. “Yep, I’m a genius.” Rarity smiled. Soon enough, they hear the train’s horn louder while seeing the green train with railroad cars installed behind. The train itself stops at the station, with Rarity’s group heading to the railroad doors. After paying the engine driver, they went to the second class while he helped Applejack with the luggage. “Thankfully the others will meet us when we get there.” Starlight replied. “Then again, it’s actually sad they’re taking longer trails on foot.” Victoria added. “Relax.” Rarity said. “At least when we get to Dimondia town, we can do our plans ahead of time.” After getting out of the first class in the train, they enter the second class. When Rarity checked what's inside, she witnessed two passengers sitting together. One with purple hair similar to hers while the other used gel, multiple colors then one. “There’s only two people in here?” Trixie asked. “Seems like there’s not a lot of people who take the train around here.” Granny Smith added. When the girl placed her phone on the table, she saw Rarity face to face. “OH MY HEAVENS!” She squealed while standing up. “Pipp, not in here, we’re gonna get kicked out.” Her sister jumped from the reaction. “Sorry Zipp, it’s just...RARITY IS HERE!” Rarity became momentarily deaf after that scream, but soon regained her hearing. “Please don’t ever scream with that volume again.” “You almost broke my ear drums, you loud simpleton.” Granny Smith fetched her earplugs out of her pocket. “I’m definitely taking the third class.” “I’ll join you.” Victoria followed from behind. When Starlight and Trixie sat together, Rarity sat by herself, in front of Pipp and Zipp, waiting for her friend to come in while saving a seat for her. It took the time Applejack had to put all the luggage in the back. When the engine driver got back inside the train, he sounded the horn, with the train eventually moving for the next station. “I’m back.” Applejack entering the second class. She saw Rarity saving a seat for her as she accepted her generosity. “Should we text the others that we’re taking the train?” “I don’t think so.” Rarity looking out the window. “It would be better to wait until we get there.” “What’s so important about your trip?” Zipp wondered. “Well, we as the Rainbooms are gonna perform at Dimondia town for the Hearth’s Warming festival.” “No need to explain.” Pipp smirked. “Once I knew about that, me and my sister agreed to have our holiday day off at Dimondia town.” In a moment that became soft and quiet, Rarity took it nicely with Pipp. “Who are you two?” “I’m Zipp Storm.” Zipp introduced herself. “And she’s my sister Pipp Petals.” Applejack found it odd to see two sisters who one is interested in glamour, while the other is like Rainbow Dash, gelled hair and all. “Have you two ever had something in common?” She wondered. “One of our friends is athletic like you.” “Don’t play rookie to me, I know who you are after watching your videos as part of the Rainbooms.” Zipp replied. “If anything, I’m actually looking forward to meeting Rainbow Dash.” “Keep your hopes up sister.” Pipp turned to her sister. “When Rainbow Dash sees you, give her your style of an alethic attitude.” Rarity and Applejack completely forgot that Princess Twilight took Pony Dash with her, as if it could lead to more confusion. “You don’t say.” Rarity making an awkward smile. “Anyway, I’ve watched all of your fashion videos.” Pipp leaning towards her favorite Rainboom. “It would be great to become fashion partners before we part ways.” “Okay, let’s think this through.” The Fashionista leaned back. “I don’t usually give fans a chance to be partners with me.” “Not only that, aside from our performance, we’re going to the festival for ourselves.” Applejack filling in. “This is also our holiday to enjoy.” Pipp wished her fantasy would come to life, but after getting denied, it won’t be the same when Rarity leaves after the festival. She looked down at her phone, not making any eye contact with anyone. “Well that’s a shame.” She acted casually. “If only we did a live stream together, that would put us on top of the social media web.” The Fashionista didn’t falter from Pipp’s tone of voice. “Not to be rude, but I’ve spoken that tone so many times. But it doesn’t work on me.” “It’s fine.” Pipp looked straight at Rarity. “It’s still a shame that my three hundred thousand followers won’t see us be a team together.” Unfortunately for her, Rarity wasn’t phased at all, nor even into Pipp’s offer. “Rarity has seven hundred thousand followers.” Applejack commented while it caused Pipp to drop her phone on the table with her jaw dropped. “Seven...hundred...thousand...followers!?” Zipp blinked. “If you still don’t believe me, I would’ve given you the offer.” Rarity commented. “I’m four hundred thousand followers behind...” Pipp’s eye twitching. “Don’t collapse in fashion disappointment, it’s not gonna ruin your day.” Meanwhile, Starlight and Trixie hear everything from her friends and the sisters. They would offer to help out but it’s better for them to work it out on themselves. When Starlight entered into the Mirror World, she was curious to know who Trixie’s counterpart would look like, especially when she listened to Sunset about everything that happened between her and the magician. “So, uhhh…” Starlight trying to make a move. “For the record, I’m only coming to hang out with Twilight.” Trixie looking through the window. “I couldn’t care less if the princess brought more of her friends along.” “Hey, how am I supposed to know we would end up like this?” “I never wanted to walk to begin with, Dimondia town will be nothing without the Great and Powerful Trixie!” Starlight knew she would hear her catchphrase eventually, but she heard that so many times back in Equestria, it wasn’t new anymore. “Trixie, if you really wanted to have a great time at the festival, would it kill you to hang out with someone?” “My band members aren’t with me, and in case you haven’t noticed, I’m only friends with Sunset. Everyone else, not even close.” As Trixie saw trees outside while the train was moving, she then later sighed of her plans to bring less than before. “I only came along to do something different for a change.” “Have you ever gone on a trip, aside from Camp Everfree?” “Not really.” This made Starlight surprised, knowing how much her friend had a mobile home in her life. “Some day, when I graduate from college, I want to drive to different places outside of Canterlot City to perform my magic acts in front of the masses.” Starlight had always performed with her friend during her travels in Equestria. But knowing how different this world is, Trixie isn’t the same when she has a roof over her head. A roof that isn’t the same from Equestria. “Dimondia Town must be important to you huh?” “We don’t know what the town’s gonna be like. But I know there’s a hundred people there.” “If you think about it before we arrive there, I can be your magic act partner.” Then the magician turned her head after receiving such an offer. “You would?” “Yes.” Starlight smiled. “In case you haven’t known this, one of my friends is actually named Trixie.” Trixie’s eyes shot right open when he heard that Starlight’s friend is her counterpart. “How haven’t I learned about this sooner!?” He leaned close to Starlight. “We keep our Equestrian selves and our friends there low profile when we’re here.” Starlight makes an awkward smile only for Trixie to wrap her arm around her shoulder. “I think we’re gonna have a big audience together.” “Just like in Equestria…although I haven’t met you until now.” Trixie then grinned from Starlight’s choice of words. “Then let’s prepare our first performance, magic partner.”
