> Nevermore > by cerealkiller78 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Chapter 1 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It had been a stupid mistake to enter Raven's room, Beast Boy knew as soon as he saw those demonic eyes in Raven's mirror. He dropped it with a terrified screech. He should have listened to Cyborg and just walked away. They both could have apologized later, but no... he just had to know the kind of stuff Raven had in her room and had to know more about her...so the next thing he knew, both he and Cyborg were suddenly being sucked into the mirror and could do nothing to stop it. .................................................. The next thing they knew, they were both thrown onto the ground in a heap. It was cold suddenly. "Ugh, I think I broke something..." Beast Boy groaned and took out a now broken nintendo DS. "Duuude...." He complained. "I just got this thing last week." Cyborg got up and looked at their new surroundings. They were in front of a high school, right next to a statue of a horse, and it was cold because wherever they were, it was currently winter. "Did...did we just come out of that thing?" Beast Boy asked, pointing to it, and shivering. "Raven's mirror must have taken us here...wherever "here" is..." Cyborg said, scanning the area."I can't even figure out where we are...definitely not in Jump City." He concluded. Beast Boy picked himself up off the ground."Maybe we should-" But just then, he was knocked hard back to the ground. It was a girl with fiery looking red and yellow hair. She cursed and scrambled back up, pushing against the base of the horse statue that Cyborg and Beast Boy had seemingly come out of. "No, no, no,no, NO!!" The girl panicked. Beast Boy and Cyborg looked at her, confused. This girl was obviously expecting something from the statue, but nothing was happening. Just then, Cyborg turned and saw a bunch of other students, he assumed them to be, approaching, and they did not look friendly. Cyborg immediately put himself between the girl and the others. There were lots. At least twenty. He crossed his arms and glared, daring them to come closer. The other students slowed, and looked hesitant at the sight of the large teen and his mechanical parts. "I think it's time for you all to go home." He threatened in a serious tone. "Like hell!!" One of them shouted angrily. A large girl stepped forward, with what looked like a recently formed bruise, swelling up under one of her eyes. "I don't know who you are freak, but this is none of your business, so get out of the way, or we'll make you." Cyborg didn't move. "Make me." He challenged. Nobody made any move to take him up on it. All the while, the girl being targeted looked conflicted between what she should do, run, or stay where she was. But ultimately, she decided that she was probably safest with a big intimidating guy defending her. After all, if she ran, they were sure to just follow her and then she'd have no one defending her like this. "No?.." He questioned when no one came forward to take him up on his challenge. "Then go home. All of you." Again, no one moved for a long time. Finally the girl who seemed to be leading this whole thing growled and turned her attention to the girl he was defending. "You don't even know how lucky you are right now Shimmer...If you have any brains, you'll get out of town and never show your face here again." With one last glare that could kill if it were able to, she turned around and began stomping away, fuming. The others followed suit and soon, they had all dissipated. > Chapter 2 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Dude!" Beast Boy threw his hands up when they were gone. "What was their problem?" Cyborg turned around to the girl he had been defending. "You alright?" he asked the distraught girl. She didn't speak for a long moment. "...No." She said finally, in a defeated tone. "No, I'm not alright. For the past two weeks, I've been accused of something I didn't do. All my friends abandoned me, this entire school hates me, and about an hour ago, I got a text from one of my ex friends, saying she needed to meet me here at the school. I thought she had finally come to her senses and we could be friends again...instead, it was all an ambush." She sighed. "Should have known better..." She said quietly, before looking back up at Cyborg. "Thanks by the way. I don't want to think about what would have happened if you hadn't been here, mister..." "Just call me Cyborg." He answered. "And that's Beast Boy." He gestured to his friend who did not appear to be quite human. "Cyborg..." She repeated, looking him over. "Seems like a fitting name..." She looked towards Beast Boy, a little taken aback by his appearance. "I must say, you're not like anyone I know around here." "Well, you could certainly say we are not from around here." Cyborg answered. "You...you've never heard of us before?" "Can't say I have." She said. "But where are my manners? My name is Sunset Shimmer." "Nice to meet you and all Sunset," Beast Boy spoke up. "But could we maybe talk somewhere a little warmer?" He shivered in the cold. "Well...there is a place we could go. But i'm not sure I'd be all too welcome..." "Is it a public place?" Cyborg asked. "Well, yes, but-" "Then there should be no problem." Cyborg left no room for argument. "They can't keep you out of a public place, unless they have proof that you did something wrong." Sunset looked like she wanted to argue further, but finally relented. "Alright." She sighed. "Let's go." .................................... They soon reached a shop reading "Sugarcube Corner". Sunset hesitantly put her hand on the knob of the door, and opened it. A welcome warm air greeted them, and Beast Boy and Cyborg gladly stepped into the shop, following Sunset inside. Suddenly, Beast Boy smacked into Sunset's back. She had stopped without warning, not moving for a moment. After a long pause, Sunset moved ahead slowly, approaching a table that was currently occupied by a girl with rainbow colored hair. > Chapter 3 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rainbow Dash looked up as Sunset approached her table. Her face paled, and all doubt that she had anything to do with the attempted attack at the school left Sunset. Her expression gave her away, but as Sunset stopped in front of her, she asked anyway. "...Tell me honestly Dash. Did Gilda jump you and take your phone? Or did you give it to her?.." Rainbow just stared at her. "...Did you know?" Sunset pressed. Rainbow Dash didn't say anything, but she definitely looked guilty. "Answer me Dash!" Sunset cried angrily. "...Yes." Rainbow said quietly. "I was angry at you for posting that picture of me and Gilda." She began gaining some of her confidence back, and glared at Sunset. "I wasn't thinking straight, and ya, I probably went overboard, but you sure as hell provoked us!" Sunset gritted her teeth in barely restrained rage. "I. Posted. Nothing." She growled. "Load. Of. Bull." Rainbow stood up from the table, looking ready to knock Sunset out then and there. "Whoah!" Cyborg approached the two before things could escalate even further. "This is not the place for a fight." Rainbow Dash surveyed the newcomer. "When did Sugarcube Corner get security?.." "He's not Sugarcube Corner's security." Sunset said. "He saved me from the setup you helped create." "Oh, so he's YOUR security. Gotta at least say he's better than Snips and Snails." Rainbow scoffed. "And who's the green bean?" She gestured to Beast Boy. Cyborg let out a snort at that, trying to contain his laughter. "Seriously??" Beast Boy cried. "See BB? It's not just me." He chuckled. "For the record, it's Beast Boy, not "green bean." He muttered to Rainbow Dash. "Whatever." Rainbow grumbled, turning back to Sunset. "If you're not leaving, I am." She took her coat and left the shop without another word.
