Chapter 1: New Lives

I was standing next to my sister, we had just moved out of our parent’s home together. She was brushing her blond hair, I walked out of the house. I looked out on the balcony only to see something falling towards the city, before I could say another word I saw that it was a huge meteoroid. It crashed into the ground, I closed my eyes as a huge explosion rippled outward.

I awoke in a forest clearing, I turned to see a woman with short blond hair. She awoke, she looked at me “Who are you!”

I frowned “My name is Jacob.”

Her eyes widened “It’ me your sister, Susie. Don’t your recognise me?”

It was my turn to be shocked, why was my sister looking so different. We were interrupted by an old man, wearing a hat that had an RR symbol on it. He bowed “You can just call me Scientist, your city was hit by a meteor so I decided to revive you too in this world in new bodies. You will have quite an array of powers but you need to discover how to use them.”

Susie bowed “Thank you sir.” The man smiled as he faded away, we both blinked in confusion. Susie then turned to me, I noticed she was wearing a black tank top and blue jeans as well black boots. She pushed me “Come on, we need to find out what we look like.” She pulled me to a nearby pool of water, we saw our reflections. I was wearing what appeared to be park ranger’s outfit, my hair was black and came off in two waves from the centre of my scalp.

We were interrupted by the howls of wolves, the wolves ran out of the forest around us. They were easily twice out height, we held out our hands in front of us only for each of us to create green barriers that blocked their assault. I grinned dropping the barrier only to kick the wolf, I watched as the wolf exploded like a bomb. All of the wolves retreated, afraid of us. Susie dropped the barrier, looking at her hands with concern “We have to be really careful. We are not sure what we are capable of.”

I cracked my knuckles “Well then let’s test our abilities against the other, after all if they are the same then we can figure out how to use them without hurting anyone.”

Susie smiled getting into position “That’s not a bad idea brother, let’s do this.” Neither of us were very good fighters, we had brawled a bit when we were little but nothing more. We rushed at each other, swinging wild punches at the other. My fist collided first, I smirked barrelling after my sister. She recovered, I gasped as I was kicked skyward.

I roared, bringing my ascent to a halt. I looked at the ground before smirking “I can fly!” I blew a raspberry at my sister only to get a punch to the face. I felt myself hitting multiple objects, I stood up shaking it off. I saw several trees that were completely flattened.

I rushed forward once more slamming my fist into my sister’s, our punches colliding in front of us. I could felt the shockwaves reverberating through the air around me.I got an idea, I formed my energy into a large green ball firing it forward. Susie dodged out of the way before doing the same, I dodged it only to get hit by a beam of energy.

Time started to blur from that point forward, we fought smashing through mountains, soaring above deserts and destroying icebergs. Our fight was only stopped when a beam of light passed between us, a tall woman in a pristine white dress with huge white wings was flying near us. She glared at us “What are you doing!”

I frowned “We were testing our abilities so we don’t hurt anyone accidentally. Now who are you?”

The woman frowned “I am Princess Celestia, a Diarch of Magistra. I understand your intentions but you are causing untold damage to the environment around you. I suggest you two come with me, we have a place that will allow you to discover your limits without causing such destruction.”

I turned to my sister, she smiled turning to Celestia “That would be very helpful Princess. Thank you.”

The Princess nodded “We will leave for Arcanis, the Capital.” The three of us flew towards the capital at breakneck speed, My sister and I had to slow down a bit just so Celestia could keep up. We flew above the city streets of what I assumed was Arcanis, humans with smaller wings than Celestia were flying around pushing clouds. Out of the one without wings, some were performing acts of magic while others were carrying around large objects.

We landed on the balcony of a castle made of marble and obsidian. Celestia panted as we landed “How do you fly so fast?”

I sighed “We are not sure ourselves, some being brought us here in new bodies just today. We just breaking them in honestly.” I blinked “That felt weird to say, talking about my body like a pair of shoes.” We walked through the castle, the walls were built in alternating patterns of obsidian and marble.

Pale guards both winged and not were wearing golden armour and carrying golden spears. We arrived near a white door, Celestia knocked on it. A dark blue skinned woman that looked like Celestia but a head shorter, she was wearing some sort of gym clothes. She glared at Celestia “Why are you interrupting my training?”

Celestia sighed “The power we detected earlier came from these two. They were trying to test the limits of their power but were causing too much destruction so I thought bringing them here would be the best option.”

The woman turned to us “I’m Princess Luna, unlike my sister I like a good fight. Now tell me your names.”

Susie smiled “I’m Susie” she then nudged me with a smirk “This is my brother. He is a bit of an idiot.” I sighed as Luna let us enter the room, following afterwards. We entered a large space full of mountains, trees and other such things. A machine was in front of the area.

Luna grinned “I’d like to see what you two are capable of, this area is simulated so feel free to go all out. I will adjust it as needed” Susie and I nodded before taking to the skies, we rushed at each other shockwaves echoing off our punches. The arena shifted to the darkness of space, planets and stars glowing in the distance. I dodged a kick, punching Susie in the stomach at full force sending her flying through space.

I chased after her only for massive explosion to fill my sight, Susie flew over to me to reveal that she had been singed. Susie roared “You just punched me into a star which exploded!”

The entire place shifted to a white empty space as Luna flew over “You blew up a star!” Luna frowned “I think you should join the guard, help you learn how to fight alongside others as well as control your power. You can also do training here in you wish to become stronger.”

I nodded “That might help the two of us.” We left the room, we followed her as we assumed she was taking us to the guard offices.

(Jacob POV)

Luna guided us into a small office, a pale skinned man in golden armour with purple inlays sat at desk covered in stacks of papers. He looked up “Princess Luna, this is a pleasant surprise. How may I help you?”

Luna smiled introducing “Captain Shining Armour, this Susie and um…”

I smiled “I’m Jacob, we are here to learn more about controlling our power. Do you know someone who can teach us?”

Luna frowned “We need someone who can train people with incredible power. Those who are capable of wingless flight and output incredible power.”

Shining Armour frowned “I’ll train them personally, they will need personal training from someone gifted in fighting.”

Sarah bowed “Thank you Captain Armour.”

He guided us out of the castle into the castle grounds, flowers of various colours were scattered around. We arrived in an empty area near the castle, he frowned “Come at me without using all of your power. I want to see your skill.”

I nodded, rushing at him. He parried my arm before kicking me backwards. He frowned “Don’t just attack, dodge and counter. Block your opponent's punch and counter it with your own, when attacking first don’t be so obvious. You need to know how to feign attacks, how to close distance and quite a few other techniques.”

I groaned as rubbed my chest “Noted.” I staggered to my feet “You kick really hard.”

Shining Armour nodded “I wouldn't be the Captain of the Guard of if I didn’t. Now come at me.” I burst forward, I darted to his left dodging a kick. I feinted a right hook moving into a left uppercut. He blocked my fist with his hand “Better.”

I leapt backwards, he rushed at me swinging a punch. I dodged, barely being able to block a sudden kick to my right. I grimaced “My sister would be doing much better, she was always the one to end fights that I started.”

Susie called out “That’s because you tried to fight someone twice your age because they called you some stupid name.”

I growled back “It’s not like you didn’t fight people because they insulted you!”

Susie shouted “I did fight them if they older than me by several years! You never learned how to pick your fights. Even when you fought someone your own age you lost, you were never a very good fighter.”

Shining Armour smacked me “Stop arguing with your sister.” He then turned to her “Now it’s your turn. Prove to me that your words hold merit.” I walked off the field, I wondered if she was going to do any better.

(Susie POV)

I walked towards Shining Armour, passing my brother on the way. My brother was a bit of a brawler, I on the other hand had some martial arts experience. Still I couldn’t mess around with a trained soldier. I raised my hands, getting into a fighting stance. I darted forward closing the distance, I sent a few punches at him. He blocked my punches, I threw a jab. He guarded with his right. He then swung a left hook, I dodged to his left kicking him in the side.

Shining Armour leapt sideways, getting into his own stance. He rushed at me, did the same. I ducked under his punch aiming for his face. He caught it delivering sharp knee to my gut, I gasped for air. I staggered backwards, clutching my stomach. I steadied myself, ready for him to make his move.

Shining Armour charged forward, I blocked one of his punches and ducked under the second. I grabbed his arm tossing over my shoulder. I was about to say something when a messenger ran over “Captain Armour, we have a visitor! The princesses want you and those two there.”

Shining Armour nodded, he turned to us “I’m sorry but this must be important. It may be one of the Sadala Defense Force, they are supposed to defend Planet Sadala but they also patrol the universe seeking out threats to different planets.”

We followed him, we were looked at strangely by the people. I guess our colours were fairly muted compared to bright colours of the people here. Jacob frowned “It’s good to know the universe has protectors.” I nodded in agreement, I wonder who was arriving. We walked through the castle, the guards standing stalwart at the doors.

We arrived a what looked like a small dock attached to the castle but with landing pads instead of piers. A short, slim man with spiky black hair walked over to us. He was wearing a blue undersuit with a strange suit of what I could assume was armour. He bowed “I am Cabba, an elite member of Sadala Defense Force, we detected a dimensional anomaly and I was sent here to investigate.”

Shining Armour bowed “Sir, these two came through a dimensional anomaly. They have been quite cordial and have been training to join our guard. I assure you that they mean no harm.”

Cabba smiled “Thank you for being honest with me Captain Armour.” He then turned to us “Are you two strong?” Jacob and I nodded. He bowed “I may return. Lord Champa, our universe’s God of Destruction may wish to meet up with you. He has been seeking strong fighters to join his team should another tournament happen.”

I grinned “I’m all in for that, I’d love to test my strength.”

Jacob frowned at me “You’re okay with fighting for the amusement of gods?”

I deadpanned “No I like fighting. Besides, if we refused him he might just destroy the entire planet. He is a God of Destruction, weren’t you listening?”

He gulped “Right.” I sighed, stupid dunderhead.

Cabba bowed once more before returning to his ship and leaving for his home planet. I bumped Jacob “Come on Jacob we need to keep training, after all we now have an expectation placed on us.” I grabbed his arm, dragging him toward the training room as I heard him sigh.

(Susie POV)

I grumbled as Jacob and I walked into the city. “We should be training?”

Jacob frowned “We have been training non-stop for an entire month, I am just asking for one day of relaxing. We might actually fit in here if we’re lucky, the people here seem nice.”

I frowned “I suppose.” Before we could say anything else, we heard the sound of something falling. We looked up and jumped catching a piano mid fall, we saw a grey skinned woman with wings being scowled at by several other members of her group. Her eyes were looking in different directions.

One of the men nodded “Thank you for catching that, we’ll take things from here. They other three flew off with the piano leaving the woman behind.”

The woman rubbed the back of her head “Thanks for catching it. If you didn’t I might have lost my job. I need this job, my little Dinky needs me.”

I smiled “My name is Susie and this is my brother Jacob.”

The woman smiled “I’m Ditzy Derpy Doo, some people also call me Muffins. Thanks for the help.”

I smiled “Maybe we could lunch after your done with your shift, we stay at the castle. Just ask for us and we’ll be there.” Derpy nodded with a smile before flying off, maybe Jacob was right. We could make some friends here. As we walked down through Arcanis, the state of the buildings started to decline.

We frowned as we saw a few men chasing after a woman, I grimaced rushing forward, knocking both of them out with a single chop to the back of their necks. The woman kept running, we dragged the two me back to the barracks. The guards took them to the dungeons after that.

We returned to the castle, we walked back onto the castle grounds. The guards let us pass, we headed to the castle mess hall. There were a few guards eating meals, we took a seat. We ordered some bacon and eggs.

While we waiting for our food, Derpy crashed into one of the walls.I rushed over to her and helped to her feet, she joined us at our table. I sighed “I don’t mean to be insensitive but could you explain what happened to your eyes.”

Jacob growled “You can’t just ask her that?”

I scowled back “I’d rather not leave the awkward question in the air, if we get it out of the way then we don’t have to think about anymore.”

Derpy nodded with a smile “I’ll explain, when I was younger I didn’t have this condition but during a race I got involved in a major crash. Even since then my eyesight has been messed up and it affected my flying badly. My parents cast me after that, they said ‘There is no room for a Sky Warden who can’t fly properly.’ Ever since then doing everything was hard.”

I gritted my teeth before taking a deep breath. I turned to Derpy “Come with me, I have some very big questions to ask some very important ponies and I need you to follow me.”

Derpy smiled “Okay.” We headed through the castle my brother following behind, soon we arrived at the door to the throne room.

The guards in front of the room pointed their weapon at me “The Princesses are in the middle of attending court, we can’t allow you to pass!” I was not dealing with this waste of time, I clapped my hand together lightly sending a shockwave sending the guards flying through one door and out the other.

Jacob shouted at me “What are you doing!”

I gritted my teeth “What I believe is right!”

I stormed into the throne room, the nobles glared at me “What do reason do you have to come in here and interrupt our important business!”

I gestured for Derpy to come in here, she nervously entered. I growled “Why is there no system supporting those who suffer from disabilities! Derpy is suffering from a disability that has plagued her since she was a child and no-one has helped her! Belittling her for something she had no control over!”

The noble growled “That is not…”

A blond haired man stepped forward in fine dress stepped forward “I disagree, those who are suffering from disabilities should get help.” He stepped over to her and frowned, observing her eyes as she tried to orientate them. He grimaced “Strabismus, a severe case of it too. Likely caused by a terrible crash, living in the Cloud Citadel of Windhammer would leave them unable to function. Sky Wardens don’t tolerate weakness and anyone who did would be quickly cast out.”

One of the other nobles frowned “Prince Blueblood, how do you know such things?”

Blueblood frowned “I have made several visits to the Citadel using a cloud-walking spell for diplomatic purposes and to put out fires. Usually by entering duels with their leaders. You learn a lot about a warrior society by fighting them, they tend to be more loose lipped in the heat of battle. I also studied a great deal of medical magic in Celestia’s School for the Magically Gifted, I am currently writing my original thesis for my doctorate.”

Celestia smiled “Well I’m grateful for such matters to brought to my attention, I believe I will have to end court early to start writing out the new regulations. I will get to anything that needs to be addressed tomorrow.” The nobles all grumbled filing out of the room, the common ponies bowing politely before leaving.

We left alongside the Princess, Derpy and Blueblood behind us. Celestia whispered “Thanks for the interruption, those nobles were being especially obnoxious today. Also their demands were ten times as outrageous than usual.”

I grinned “Glad to help Princess.” As we separated from the Princess “Maybe taking a day off once in a blue moon is fun.” We turned around to see that Blueblood and Derpy were having a passionate discussion about something, we shrugged leaving them to their own devices.

Chapter 4: Destruction

View Online

(Jacob POV)

I was training with Susie usual. Susie grinned as the shockwaves from our punches shook the entire realm of the training room “We have grown much stronger!”

I dodged her punch “I agree, I feel like our pasts elves would be ants compared to where we are now.”

We were interrupted by the training room returning to normal, Luna was standing there. She frowned “You need to meet someone immediately!”

Next to her was a pudgy purple cat in an Egyptian style outfit who stared at us “So these two are the fighters that you were talking about! They don’t look like much!”

Susie growled “Well if you think of little of us, then fight us! Unless you are a coward!”

The purple cat’s face contorted in fury “I am the God of Destruction of this universe, Champa! I will not be mocked by you!” I saw Luna frantically activate the training simulation, there a tall blue skinned female wearing an outfit far more modest and regal than Lord Champa.

I flew over to them. The female bowed “I am Vados, the attendant to Lord Champa. Your friend better be very strong or else she will die fighting Lord Champa.” I hoped the training we had done was enough. I didn’t my sister to be killed, especially by a fat purple cat.

(Susie POV)

I dodged the purple cat’s punch, slamming my fist into his gut sending hurtling downwards. I charged at him, he fired a huge blast. I created a small green shield, blocking part of the blast as I pushed myself against it slamming the shield into this face. Her gritted his teeth as his power flared up, I powered up as well.

Champa fired a series of purple blast which I dodged, I noticed that anything that touched seemed to evaporate on contact. He rushed at me, I dodged his punches grabbing both his arms. I slammed my knee into his gut, I then sent him flying upward with an uppercut. I then fired a huge blast. The cat, battered and bruised by blast glared down at me.

Champa formed a huge purple ball of energy, flinging down at me. I charged energy in my hands before firing a powerful blast. He tossed is the huge ball of destructive energy towards me, our attacks met int the middle. He poured more power his attack and I did the same our attacks growing larger. I simply starting pouring more and more energy out. I smirked as he started to tire, his orb vanishing as he is consumed by my attack.

I frowned as a tall blue skinned woman caught him, I frowned as Jacob flew over to me “Who is that?”

He frowned “That is his attendant, they are supposed to keep him out of trouble. She is also far stronger than him from what I could gather.” We headed over to Luna, Jacob frowned “Was then anyone else with him?”

Luna nodded “There was purple individual wearing an armoured coat, they called him Hit. He is being paid to be here by Champa.”

Once Vados joined, the five exited. I caught a purple fist in front of me, I had not seen where it came from. I glared at the purple being that matched Luna’s description of Hit. I glared at him “I don’t know how you moved so fast but you are overconfident if you think you hit me so easily.”

Vados raised her hand “They have already proved themselves, she was able to beat Lord Champa. Having said that, we wish for you to train with them. We will pay you for your time.” She tossed Hit a large bag of funds as the initial payment, Hit bowed entering the chamber.

Jacob grimaced “Why did we even leave the chamber?” I shrugged as we entered, Luna set up the chamber once more. We got ready to spar with Hit, he removed his hands from his coat. Suddenly he was right in front of me, I blocked his arm before kicking him away. Jacob rushed behind me. He started appearing feigning attacks from every direction, before vanishing again. It’s not invisibility.

I gritted my teeth “Jacob, he’s skipping through time. It’s how he’s moving so fast, he can’t attack while skipping time but he can close the distance! He’s getting better at it to!” The only advantage we had was that we were ahead which meant that as he improved, we did to. We got faster and we are movements grew sharper as well.

The fight ended as his stamina wore down while ours did not. Hit crossed his arms “You two are truly impressive.” We walked over to Luna who was sleeping next to the control and shook her awake. After a second or two of shock, she turned off the simulation. We headed to mess hall, while the three of us waited for food, we noticed Hit was looking at every exit.

Everyone around us looked at him oddly, he clearly wasn't comfortable with large crowds. I frowned “How about we retire to somewhere more private.”

He nodded “Yes, I’m not used to be in a place so open.”

Jacob frowned as the two of us “I’m going to stay and have lunch with Luna.” I nodded, I got up Hit following behind me.

Hit frowned “I surprised you are so carefree around me.”

I frowned “You are an Assassin and a very good on, you don’t kill unless you are paid. You are also a professional and would never let yourself be seen by your target. You would scope them out, from a distance out of sight and mind.”

Hit nodded “You have read me well, I have no contract to kill you and considering that Lord Champa will likely make you a member of his team. I doubt that he would take kindly take any attempt on your life. Assassins obsessed with money over their own survival end up dead very quickly.” We separated after that, he wished to find a guest room in the castle to get some rest in. I decided to do the same.
