> The Comfort of the Moon > by Twilight Star > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > True Love > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Twilight remembered that day like it was yesterday, the day she’d gone back to Canterlot High to help Sunset and her friends’ counterparts, and also the day she’d met Flash Sentry again. Only— oh! Although she was happy to see him again, she never imagined what would happen after she and her friends had left the place where the students were to play the songs for the Battle of the Bands. Flash was there, along with the other members of his band, leaning against the green cabinets with his red guitar in a bad mood. She could feel tears threatening to come out of her eyes, just remembering Flash’s words.  You guys heard something?  There’s again! So annoying!  Do you really think you’re gonna help them?! Há! I bet you don’t even have an idea what you’re doing!  She felt more tears come out of her eyes and run down her cheeks, she never imagined Flash would do that to her. And to top it off, he didn’t even apologize to her. She had been lying on the golden bed for a few hours, or so all morning.  Today was the third day since the Battle of the Bands and she has been that way since she returned to Equestria. She told the girls about the adventure but didn’t tell her friends about what happened between her and Flash, as she didn’t want to end up crying in front of her friends just by remembering what happened. Spike, unfortunately, noticed that she started acting differently after their adventure at Canterlot High, as he’s been noticing her pretty low. Spike had asked to tell him what had happened, but Twilight denied saying it was just from a book she’d read in the last few days that made her cry over the depressive ending, which seemed to have worked, but she didn’t know how long she could keep this, as she knew it was only a matter of time before her assistant started to wonder why she was still crying. Even her friends would start to wonder why she hadn’t left the castle to see each other.  “Twilight?” asked a female voice in a slightly worried tone.  Twilight’s ears perked up when she heard a voice coming from the bedroom door, she knew very well who that voice belonged to. She wiped the tears from her eyes with a hoof and looked at her bedroom door and saw the Princess of the Night standing in the bedroom doorway, looking at her with a worried look.  “Hi, Luna! What are you doing here?” asked Twilight, hiding her sadness through a smile.  “I came here to see you, but when Spike told me you’ve been crying a lot lately, it worried me,” Luna replied, stepping closer to the Princess of the Friendship. “Did something happen?”  Twilight started to laugh nervously, scratching the back of her head. “No! Nothing happened! Really! It’s just that these last few days, I read a book that had a very depressing ending. And just remembering what happened at the end of the book, I start crying again!” She responded with a nervous smile, hoping Luna would believe her words.  But Luna didn’t seem to buy Twilight’s words, she sat up in bed and put a hoof on Twilight’s shoulder reassuringly. “Twilight, you know you’re my best friend. You can tell me how you feel.”  “But it’s true, Luna!” Twilight assured, hoping Luna would believe her words.  “I won’t laugh or get mad at you, if that’s what you’re worried about,” Luna assured her. “I just want to know why you’re crying.”  Twilight’s fake smile dropped, it looked like her efforts weren’t working at all. She didn’t understand why Luna wanted to know what was bothering her. Like, it’s not like it’s something the Princess of the Night should be worried about.  “But Luna, you don’t need to know. The reason for my sadness is something silly. There’s no reason for you to worry,” said Twilight, forcing a smile again on her face.  “Please, Twilight. Tell me what bothers you, I want to help you feel better. Something is bothering you for you to be crying,” Luna begged. “Believe me: keeping what you feel is never a good idea.” Twilight looked at the blanket sadly, knowing Luna wasn’t giving up. “You’re not giving up until I tell you, right?”  Luna grabbed Twilight by the chin and lifted Twilight’s head, making the purple alicorn look at her. “No, Twilight,” she replied with a smile.  Letting out a defeated sigh, she finally said, “Okay, I’ll tell you.” Luna took the hoof off Twilight’s chin and allowed Twilight to start talking.  “Do you remember when I had to go to the other world and get my crown back?” Twilight started.  “Of course, why?” asked Luna.  “Because I had met Flash Sentry, and had fallen in love with him,” Twilight replied sadly. Luna’s heart seemed to stop for a second at those words, but she allowed Twilight to continue. “Except a few days ago, long before I was the way I am now, I was called in to help Sunset and my friends’ counterparts to find out why the school has been acting weird since three teenage girls recently enrolled in Canterlot High. I found out through a book that the Dazzlings ended up at Canterlot High, and that these teenagers would be the same Dazzlings who were banned from Equestria.”  “I met Flash again and was so happy to see him again. But when the performance night arrived and we finished playing our music, we left the place where the performances were taking place and I ran into Flash again.” Twilight felt tears in her eyes just remembering what happened next, Luna’s heart broke at the sight of Twilight’s tears. “He started ignoring me, and even yelling at me, making me cry. And after he got back to normal, he didn’t even apologize to me. It’s as if he didn’t regret what he did!”  Luna sadly watched more tears come out of Twilight’s eyes and trickle down her cheek, just remembering what happened. She never imagined that Twilight was going through this since she had returned from the other world. She then wrapped Twilight around her hooves in a loving hug and began lovingly stroking Twilight’s mane.  Twilight started wiping the tears from her eyes with a hoof, knowing it wasn’t worth her dating Flash anymore, not after what he’d done to her and not even apologizing to her.  “Twilight, I’m sorry for what you’ve been going through lately. You didn’t deserve to be treated like that. I’m sure you’ll find a pony here in Equestria who loves you,” Luna said the last sentence with a loving smile. A small smile formed on her muzzle at Luna’s comforting words. “Thanks, Luna,” she said, returning the hug.  “You’re welcome, Twilight.” Luna soon felt from her magic that she had to raise the moon. “Twilight, I’m going to have to raise the moon now. Would you like to watch the stars with me after that?” “Of course, Luna. After what I’ve been through this week, I would love to stargaze with you,” Twilight replied. They got out of the hug, got out of bed, and walked towards the balcony. Twilight sat on her haunches and watched Luna spread her wings and use turquoise magic, lifting the full moon over the horizon and the color of the sky changing from pale blue to pink to dark blue. The Princess of the Night soon added stars and constellations. Twilight’s pupils dilated as she witnessed this beautiful spectacle, she would never have imagined that watching Luna lift the moon across her balcony would be so beautiful to watch. When finished, Luna turned and sat on her haunches to the right side of Twilight to watch the stars. After seeing this, Twilight also began to stargaze.  They were silent, just taking the moment to stargaze. Twilight can’t help but agree that Luna’s company made her feel better. She decided to take advantage of this quiet moment between them to thank Luna for what the dark blue alicorn did to her today.  “Luna, thank you for comforting me this afternoon. If it wasn’t for you, I would still be heartbroken by Flash Sentry’s words,” Twilight thanked happily, looking at Luna. Luna looked at Twilight with a smile.  “You’re welcome, Twilight. I just did my duty as your friend,” Luna said. “You deserve better after what you went through on Flash’s hooves.”  Twilight looked shyly to her left side, blushing a little at Luna’s words. She would never have imagined Luna would be so loving after what she went through with Flash at Canterlot High. She was grateful Luna had comforted her after what she had been feeling these past few days.  Her ears perked up in surprise as she felt Luna hug her with a wing, making her cheeks redden even more, but she soon smiled and went back to watching the starry sky, resting her head on the princess’s shoulder lovingly. Luna smiled at the affection received and went back to looking at the night sky, too.  The hearts of the two princesses started to beat with happiness at the same time, but for different reasons: Twilight’s was because that after what Luna did to her today, they could maybe be something more than friends, knowing Luna was someone far better than Flash Sentry. As for Luna, it was because now that Twilight no longer had feelings of love for Flash Sentry there was a possibility that they might finally be together.
