> The Mechanical Angel of Equestria > by Sacred Sky Heart > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > When Lightning Strikes; A New World and a Promise > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Why is is pitch black? Last I knew, it was nice and sunny with only few clouds! Stasis program disengaged. Booting up optical sensor program. Where was that voice from? And why did it remind me of Lacus Clyne from Gundam Seed? Though I'm not complaining, I don't understand what is going on. However, my vision soon becomes similar to a TV screen of static, dark green in color before becoming clear and more colors are added. Trying to move, I find I can't. Beginning joint diagnostics. All systems optimal at 98%. A kind of of unlocking sound is heard, and I begin to look around. "Why do I feel a bit chubby?" I ask, but pause as I hear my voice not being my own. It was like that that of Riku Mikami from Gundam Build Divers, but more robotic sounding. I lift a hand, unsure of what I'd find. However, I see apparently a rectangular arm, followed by a joint. I stare in shock, but then look around me. It seems I'm in some forest, yet I was by a street earlier. "WHAT IS GOING ON!?" I yell, scaring several critters from nests and burrows as I panic. However, I soon feel myself feeling tired. Mental wavelengths destabilizing. Initiating temporary stasis. "Oh nuts..." And with that, my world goes dark once again. ************** (Before that panic moment) "Welp, seems I got it finished well enough." I look at a small chibi-like model I had final completed. While it would usually only take maybe half a day, I did additional detailing to this little model. The SD Cross Silhouette (SDCS) series Wing Gundam Zero Custom rest in my palm, a gleam from freshly dried coating spray making it shine in the sunlight. I smile, placing the twin buster rifle in it's separated form in both it's hands. "This looks better than I imagined with how I'd finish it." I exclaim, lifting it up to encompass the sunlight. However, some clouds seemed to drift by that looked a little too dark for a sunny day. "Huh? Didn't the weatherman say it was supposed to not be too-" I start before a lightning bolt flies towards my location, striking the light pole I was leaning against. I didn't even have time to say 'Oh no'. My world goes dark then and there, not even letting me hear anything besides the crash of the bolt on me. **************** Back to the present My eyes soon become a green static again, though I didn't hear the voice of Lacus alerting me to this. Not that it bothered me, but this was still odd. I recalled the freak bolt of lightning, and now putting the pieces of this rhetorical puzzle together says I died. But this is clearly no afterlife. I can feel all this nature, even the moistness of the dirt I stood on. As soon as I could move, I hear something rustle the bush next to me. Gently and slowly I look to it, not sure if it was a threat or not. Soon, a small white coated creature tackled me, pink clinging to its head and rear. "Halt, odd being!" Shouted this odd creature. The hit disorienting me, I soon refocus and see this is a pony holding me down. With a horn on her head. I couldn't help but chuckle. I noticed also it was night, and I slowly get up. This forced the little pony off my chest, which shocked her. "I mean no harm, young filly. I am.....Zero. I have no idea how I came to this area, nor do I have a clue as to where I am." I explain, also using a new name as my old life is gone. Though this filly clearly was still on the defensive, a small whisper catches my attention from the bush. "T-Tia....? Wh-what if this creature is a diplomat?" Said the shy voice. I could see seafoam green eyes looking out shyly, but they also had a bit of understanding and also curiosity in them. The white filly suddenly balked and got up quickly at this possibility. I chuckle and look to the bush, slowly approaching it before kneeling (which I will admit felt odd as a chibi based robot). "I am nothing of the sort, but I don't mean any harm to such adorable children." I attempt to smile, tilting my head. Though I clearly had no moth, my eyes seemed to relay it. The pair of eyes slowly begin to come out of the shrubbery. A dark blue coated pony with a lighter blue mane slowly crawls out. I notice this filly has a horn and wings opposed to the white filly having only a horn. "And what is your name, young one?" I reach a hand out, petting her ears which she backs away from at first until she feels the amazement of ear scratches. "Mmm... I-I'm Luna. Y-you met my sister, Celestia." "It's a pleasure to meet you both." I smile and stop scratching Luna's ears. She groans in complaint, which makes Celestia curious apparently. "How did you make my sister seem to melt from just a scratch?" She asked. Though I would return the favor, the sound of hurried clops approaching echo around. "Princess Luna! Step away from that creature!" Yelled an elderly voice. I stand and get back, but also am blasted by a greyish white beam. "Ack!" I yell, my vision becoming static. Luckily, whatever blasted me only did light damage. But I notice also I was suddenly hovering against my will. As I looked up, I see a grey coated stallion with a white, swirling beard (that reminded me of what I figured Merlin would look like if such a fictional character existed) and a dark blue robe with several bells apparently. He wore a hat as well similar to what Gandolf wore in Lord of the Rings, though it was a matching color to his robe. "What did you do, foul demon!" Growled the clearly elderly stallion, his age seen in his eyes as wisdom besides the wrinkles. However, he jumped to calling me something I wouldn't affiliate myself with. "Demon? I think you should not jump to conclusions, my dear magician." I utter, my stare being directed at the unicorn who held me in his white aura. I noticed here and now I was apparently in some sort of cloak. "Have you heard of something demons fear?" I ask, making the unicorn raise an eyebrow in wary confusion. "They fear the light of Harmony, but what does that have to do with here?" He asked, though I could tell I caught his attention. "I actually am something they fear, and it's an embodiment of something similar to that 'light of Harmony', as you put it." I state, the back of my cloak soon shredding as I unveil pearl-white wings, similar to those of a bird. The unicorn is surprised, releasing his grip. However, I don't fall as I activate my propulsion system at a low percentage. I hover for a good three minutes before slowly landing. I take a knee, lowering my head as I realize I should show respect still. This unicorn, though disrespectful at one glance at me, was indeed a good individual and was clearly looking out for the two here. "I am sorry if I made you worry on the possibility of if I were to hurt these two fillies. I am simply known as Zero, a Wing Gundam with many understandings of honoring others, expert in many combat techniques in different situations, and a warrior wishing to keep the peace." The grey unicorn clearly realized I wasn't a demon now, so he cleared his throat. "Forgive me, young one. I am Starswirl, arcane master of the land of Equestria." I extend my hand, the motion slow as to not make him think I was hostile. Not that I was intending to betray them anyway. I have no way home, and I don't believe I'd be in my old body if I went back. So why not accept my new start in life here? "Shall we begin this as a partnership in a way?" I suggest. Starswirl was a bit hesitant, but then a tug on his robe brought him to look at the young dark blue pony I met. Her eyes clearly were pleading him to accept, and I will admit I'd have a hard time saying no to those. Starswirl tried to reign in his willpower to say no, but Luna's puppy stare won over as he finally sighed in defeat before smiling and nodding in acceptance to the young filly. She smiled and jumped happily, yelling 'Huzzah' in such a cute voice. Starswirl looks back to me, extending his right forehoof to accept my handshake. As we shook, I could sense a long and arduous journey laid ahead, but I would face it. These two fillies are my first true friends here, so I'll do all I can to ensure the future of this world is protected. That is my promise. The Zero Promise. > The Rise of the Solar Princess > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It has been surprisingly fifty years since my arrival. Celestia and Luna received word three days ago that Starswirl disappeared along with the other five Pillars of Equestria, though I will say I didn't get along with the old buzzard. Sadly it was not like that between me and the other Pillars. The ones I felt I could console to if I needed was Mistmane or Somnambula. They were also the only ponies I told my true origins to. The expression they gave at first told me they didn't exactly believe it, but then Mist did a dive into my mind (with my permission) to discover I wasn't being hysterical. I asked them to not share this with Starswirl or the others, and they promised. Still, losing Starswirl meant apparently the sun and moon would need extra unicorns to move. This was one of the first surprises I came across while living in Equestria. Apparently magic was used to move such heavenly bodies, which still shocked me when Starswirl and Luna moved the moon into place. While yes the young alicorn had a connection to the celestial orb of night, she was clearly struggling still when I arrived. Apparently her mark on her flank represented her connection. Celestia I asked as I was curious as to how she didn't have a mark yet on her flank like Luna or other ponies, but I didn't pry as it seemed to be a topic that led to a little discouragement in herself. Now, it has been three days after the Pillars had vanished, and Luna was struggling to raise the sun. The moon was already set, as her cutie mark I believe they called them symbolized her connection to it. Walking by with Celestia, we see Luna panting and heaving out of exhaustion from over using her magic. "Luna!" Celestia cried and rushed over to her alicorn sister. Though she was only a unicorn when I met her, she became an alicorn a year after I arrived thanks to a spell of Starswirl's. That led to a mess with the nobles a bit, and I did not enjoy listening to complaints about how Equestria was to be ruled by two children. Though I did agree with some nobles at the time, Celestia and Luna proved to be capable by being there for their subjects. "C-Celestia? W-we are sorry, sister..." Replied Luna, for some reason adopting an old style kind of accent. Celestia shook her head, a small smile crossing her face. "Fret not, young sister. I'll do what I can." Celestia looked to me with pleading eyes. "Please, Sir Zero. Take my sister to her chambers at once..." Though I would rather stay to ensure her safety, I could tell Luna was barely able to move. Walking over with metallic steps along the marble stone floor, I kneel before picking up the young alicorn in my arms. "As you wish, milady Celestia. Just be careful and don't be reckless." She'd only giggle, as I knew she was always reckless in such situations. "No promises, my dear guardian." I could only chuckle in response, soon turning and taking off to the upper levels of the castle. It wasn't hard to find Luna's balcony to her room as her moon cutie mark basically took the whole floor of it. Upon landing though, the young alicorn was fighting a bit to get up. "Rest now, Princess. You have suffered from overusing your magic." I coaxed the princess of night. She sighed and looked to me with sadness. "We have failed at thou own duty, Sir Zero. We aren't fit to wear thine crown..." She uttered sadly, as I could see tears welling in her eyes. Just seeing one of my first friends about to cry was unnerving, and inside I wished I knew how to help comfort someone in these situations. Unfortunately, I never truly got into situations like this as I tended to avoid them as much as possible. Heck, I think I never truly had best friends before coming to Equestria. With a sigh, I start to pet the lunar princess on the head, occasionally scratching behind her ears. This at least got her to giggle and relax, knowing someone cared for her well-being. "I would not say you are a failure, milady. More like you learned an invaluable lesson. Can you say what that is?" I ask Luna, wishing to know if she caught what I was saying. Her aquamarine eyes would look to me in confusion, soon widening in realization. "We attempted to do thy task alone!" She recalled, which I nod in agreement. "Yes. If something seems too much, it would be more wise to request aide for such strenuous tasks." I conclude. Luna stares at me, like I'm not who I am. I guess I could understand that as I never gave such advice often, which led me to scratching my cheek bashfully. "Too much wisdom, milady?" I chuckle as I could practically feel my face guard burn in embarrassment. While Luna would have spoken, the outside suddenly began to brighten up, the sun rising without Luna's aide. This was enough to startle the night princess to go and check what was going on, as I would help her back to the patio I picked her up from. Once at the open space, we see Celestia, her horn ablaze in a golden aura as her flank shined in a bright light that blinded even my alternate visions for helping me see in many situations. "Sister!?" Cried Luna, unable to see and worried for Celestia's safety. But the worry was unneeded, as the light soon dimmed and revealed the older sister standing tall, her horn slowly disengaging in its magic. When our vision returns to normal, we stare in awe as the sun revealed every detail. Celestia turned to us, confused at our expressions as if we saw a ghost. "Is something amiss, Luna? ...Sir Zero?" She'd ask, clearly unaware of what we were looking at. However, her gaze turns to Luna as her younger sister would soon smile with glee and shout. "Dear sister... Thou cutie mark has appeared!" > An Oncoming Storm > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- From a secluded area in shadows, a pair of green eyes with a strange purple mist billowing out of them stares at a castle at the edge of the Everfree Forest. "Soon, my love. Soon you will rue the day you cast away my love after all I've done for you..." "Oh, don't ruin my moment of fun with your petty revenge, buddy!" Groans a more mischievous toned voice. The eyes turn to a serpentine bodied individual with a lion and eagle claw for hands, a goat and alligator leg, and mismatched antlers. The eyes belonging to this individual were yellow with red sclera's, carrying a hint of chaotic planning and mischief in their glow. "Hmph. Go ahead, Discord. Just know that the Princess of the Night is not to be eliminated except by ME! Am I crystal?" "Yes, yes. Crystal clear unlike your shadow crystals....Sombra." (Intro Song) (As the instrumental intro to the song begins, a lone figure stands at a cliffs edge. Their back visible reveals their wings, shadowed in the darkness of early morning until the sun begins to peak over the edge of the horizon.) I feel your love reflection Shining from your heart and back onto me Let’s see if we, can write our own Never ending story (Scene fades to a forward glance of the figure, revealing Zero with his eyes closed. His hand rises to his chest, gently tapping the green gem where his heart would be if he was still his human self. As he does this, he opens his eyes slowly as the scene rushes to the sight of the horizon with the sun and moon on the edge as they swap places in the sky) This heavy heart will not hold me down I cast it away as I lift off the ground Wings of an angel soaring beyond these sights And it’s taking me to greater heights (Celestia looks out from a balcony, an expression of sadness on her face. She shakes her head, taking off and flying into the air to escape the despair she feels. Unnoticed by her, Zero flies high above as he does recon to ensure she is safe. Doing a small barrel roll, he accelerates forward, avoiding any Pegasi in his flight path) Ah, now and again the weight of world may leave you small Don’t say goodbye, this passion will rise I’ll never let it fall (It is now afternoon and we see Luna waking up. Her expression seems similar to Celestia's that morning, but she soon expresses a smile as Zero walks in and opens the balcony curtains. His eyes show compassion as her night sky reveals it's beauty.) I feel your love reflection As one we’ll strengthen the dreams that we made Heading towards the same destiny When I’m with you I’m not afraid (In the throne room of the castle, the two alicorn sisters stand before their thrones, a darkness of figures before them as eyes of many dark emotions stared at them.) I feel your love reflection Shining from your heart and back onto me Let’s see if we, can write our own Never ending story (As the shadows would prepare to charge, the glass roof above suddenly shatters from a beam of light that strikes them. Once the light fades, the shadows are dispersed as Zero lands wielding his Twin Buster Rifle. He looks to the princesses, giving them a smile in his eyes as they return the smile.) (End Song) It has been almost five years after Celestia gained her connection to the sun and her cutie mark. Though many of the ponies still didn't like the idea of young rulers (as Celestia and Luna still looked like adolescent foals in appearance), they respected the two due to their connection to the sun and moon. It was now a day of training regimens that the new recruits of the Royal Guard were feeling was a waste of time, sparring against me as I would test their mettle and will to protect. Honestly, I was disappointed. Whenever I'd order them to come at me with all their might, they would suddenly hold back their strength once about to strike. This caused many to end up bruised. Sighing, I place the sword I used for training in it's sheath on my hip. "If none of you put more effort into your training, how can you ensure the safety of the crown or the future of all Equestria? Yes, you have your lives ahead of you and I'm sure you're all thinking it's a waste of time here now. But think of this: What if you slacked off in a battle in the future, only to lose your own life because you didn't focus? What if you allowed petty distractions to take your eyes off duty, allowing a possible threat into the kingdom and letting Equestria be destroyed from within? What IF..." I'd pause, taking in the stares of my recruits to see if this was sinking in. For some, I seemed to have their undivided attention. But a few seemed to not really care. More here to attract the mares, apparently. With an evil idea for the last part, I continue. "All the mares were suddenly to worship a new ruler who overcame such soldiers only desiring to be part of the Royal Guard so they could have a chance with one?" I finish as I close my eyes. Hearing a scrambling of hooves, I couldn't help but smile. But I didn't expect one soldier to suddenly put true effort into the training that fast after the bruising session previously, as I am suddenly thrown onto the ground by a swift swing by him. Getting over the surprise, I stand and look to see the colt was a unicorn with an ivory colored flank with navy blue mane and tail. Though he appeared to have no cutie mark yet, that suddenly changes as a soft glow appears on his flank. I stand, causing the colt to stand at the ready. However, he is surprised and confused as I would slowly start to clap. "Well done, young one. You clearly have the heart of one to defend what they cherish. Also, congrats on your talent being revealed." I say, and the young unicorn would look and find his cutie mark. A cerulean shield with a heart of gold in its center, bordered by twin swords similar to what he hit me with. All of this apparently was a lot to process for the young colt. But he was soon smiling and looked to me before bowing. "Thank you captain! My name is Private Bright Heart, sir! I hope to make you proud in the future!" He'd salute, showing his happiness but also following protocol of a soldier. I return the salute, nodding. "I look forward to it, Private Heart." I then turn to everypony else who were surprised and seemed a bit jealous. "I hope Private Heart's determination shows you a good detail on what a soldier must put before themselves. The goal of a guard is not putting their own safety first in the situation of a threat. It's to protect the kingdom. Those who are here more to get the ladies... unfortunately you need to find something new to work to protect. I can tell Private Bright has some pony special he wishes to protect, which resonated with his strike. Reflect on this and ask yourselves: "Is there something else I am here to protect besides my desires?" Now go ahead and get showered up now, as your training has only now TRULY begun!" While the ponies that shared a squad with Bright Heart approached and congratulated him, I noticed several of the other teams seem to give resentful or glares of jealousy. Even though I knew trouble would come to Bright Heart and his squad now, I could tell by looking that they'd handle anything. (Bright Heart's POV) "That was cool, Bright!" Shouted my Pegasus friend Blitz Cloud. He brushes his multi-colored orange and red mane suddenly before saying in his usual bragging way, "I'd say at least 5 bits closer to being as cool as me." "Alright, Blitz. That's enough of yer gloating today. Bright did the one thing none of us have been able to yet: Land a hit on th' commander." The southern accent of Sweet Apple and the only mare to volunteer for the guard retorts. Everyone in the guard knew her dream was to someday start a farm, but she needed to get some money to help for that. As the Royal Guard was a high paying position, she felt it would be a good idea for also building strength and discipline (even if her parents were against the idea). Her flank had an orange tint to it while her mane had red and tangerine orange highlights to it. "I agree unfortunately, my friend. If you brag too much, it could pass onto a generation and your descendant could end up getting into situations between a rock and a hard place." Says another earth pony of the group. Though he had a mostly grey coloration, hints of pink showed in Stonewall Pie's flank, even in the slightest. Coming from a rock farm and being one of the few cadets who arrived with their cutie mark already, Stonewall showed much promise in defense planning. An example of such was when Commander Zero asked how to better defend one of the castle walls to ensure it was unreachable from breaking down. Ironically, Stonewall suggested adding additional layers to the wall with several thick layers of metal in between. The plan was a wall of first three hooves of stone, followed by metal hardened with charms to increase its durability. The following layers of stone and metal would have increased durability until the inner walls were set up. To put it simply, everyone except our squad and the commander couldn't believe he works in the country yet has great ideas for such defenses! I couldn't help but chuckle as I nodded at this. Our medical cadet member, a Pegasus by the name of Sweet Patch, spoke quietly as she agreed. Though we couldn't hear her, we understood each other in our own ways. "Well, I'm going to see the one I wish to defend after showering up." I say, reminding the crew tonight we all had temporary leave from the cadet housing. With a nod, we separated and went to the showers. It was hard to believe I was going to be meeting my secret admirer finally. I was confused as to how she knew I'm a cadet now, or how she knew leave for me would be tonight. I shake my head, feeling off from the sudden tidbits of info that did hold reason. "Come on, Bright. No psyching yourself out before the greatest moment." I'd berate myself. Unfortunately, I hear some snickers behind me as I was showering. "Oh? Does Brighty have a big date tonight?" The gruff voice of one cadet I knew went by Power Pound laughed. While he is also the strongest in the recruits, he was unfortunately the first to get knocked down in training so swiftly by Commander Zero. "What is it to you, Pow? Why are you here, also? The door was locked." I replied, annoyed more than anything as I expected a remark that made no sense. "Oh, we simply used a key under the mat." The bigger colt would reply, tossing said key from his wing at my horn. It stung and I was hit by a wave of confusion and nausea. Before I could even react or recover, I was suddenly pinned down with a ring put on my horn. "There we go! Now you can't magic your way out. You think you're so hot now just because you are the first to land a real hit on the CO? I beg to differ..." (Zero's POV) I was seeing the cadets off at the gates to the training camp as they went on their leave for the night, wishing them all a good time. Unfortunately, one group remained. Bright Heart's team. With no Bright Heart. Though this made me concerned, I noticed Power Pound and his team approach. The smug looks said enough, but without proof I couldn't do much. However.... "So Cadet Pound. Have you been working up a sweat today?" The pegasus froze, not expecting me to make small talk apparently. But this doesn't stop his boasting. "Yeah! I just, uh, was doing a quick lap before tonight." His reply was clearly not the truth, but I played along and smirked. "Well, you'll have to shower up once again. No cadets leave until they are clean and fresh. With the window for leaving the camp closing, I guess your stuck here." Pound grumbled as his friends laughed at his misfortune, leaving right as the gate shut. Before he could leave back to the barracks, I grab his tail in a hand. Yelping, he turns to stare at me in annoyance. "Why did you grab my tail!?" He yelled, clearly not happy to be grabbed he forgot to address the situation on how he spoke to a superior officer. "How about you share in detail on what you did to Bright Heart first? Don't try fibbing out of it as I could tell you were lying instantly." The cadet began to sweat, realizing he was caught. However, he never replied as alarms rang and alert pits were lit around the castle. An attack is in progress... > The Night of Untold Chaos > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Outside Everfree Glade: 1 hour prior to the alarms "Heheh. I feel it's time to start the party. Don't you agree, Stony?" Discord looks to a rock with a small face. Though your think it would speak back knowing Discord, it simply stared. "Oh? So what is your suggestion, buddy? Wedgies on the poor shop owners? Swapping the soap they use for bathing with fur thinner? Maybe even a little bit of pin the tail on the stallion?" As Discord thought over different prank ideas, several figures rose from the earth. Brandishing axes that glowed a dark purple aura, the figures stepped towards Discord before kneeling. Seeing these golems and their haunting red monoeyes looking towards him, something seemed to change in Discords plan. "Or we could pillage the little Kingdom, bringing Sombra the Night princess." (Intro Song) (As the instrumental intro to the song begins, a lone figure stands at a cliffs edge. (End Song) Back to the present Situation Zero rushed to a tower in flight, unsure of whom this group of attackers were as Equestria was too peaceful for possibly terrorists. When he landed, the sight of the army approaching was a shock. Carrying axes that glowed purple with intense heat all staring ahead with their evil monoeye stares, one word came to the commander of the Royal Guard. "Zakus...? But how?" As he tried to wrap his head around this situation, a Pegasus mare in scouting armor flew down. "Commander Zero! Scout Leap Snooper reporting!" She shouts. Zero nods at her shout, but also chuckled lightly. "No need to shout, Scout Snooper. Now, what do we know of this enemy?" Leap blushes a bit, suddenly realizing that she was yelling since the start. However, she brushes it off as she carried out her job. "Sir, the enemies are golem like creatures being led by another creature who seems...a bit more like he was made from a zoo." "A zoo!? How rude!" Came a voice suddenly out above the two. Descending on a pink cloud was somecreature who, as Scout Snooper mentioned, could have been made as a Frankenstein Zoo. "I am Discord, and I wish to request you hand over this land as well as your princess of the night, Luna." Stated the being. The request for Luna made Zero wary of him, unsure of what his game was. "What will you do if you did get the Princess?" Asked Zero, not sure if he should trust the being. Discord chuckled, amused by the odd individual before him. "My dear golem friend, I honestly will say it is not for me to say. Besides, you could gain a spot in my unique army here. Otherwise you'll be probably eliminated." With a snap of his fingers, Discord disappeared in a poof, the cloud suddenly letting it rain what seemed to be chocolate milk. (POV: Zero) Reaching to my shoulder, the armor splits open as a small handle ejects into my hand. I will admit I'm a bit nervous as I've never used this weapon up until now. "Snooper, go take cover while informing all squads to stand guard on the wall. Also, please ensure the Princesses are aware of whats happening." I requested of the scout, who looked at the pink cloud in annoyance because of the chocolate rain. "Uh, sir? While I'd happily do so, I have to ask what you plan to do with only a handl-" She is cut off as suddenly I ignite the hidden power of the handle, a green beam of energy rising from it to a degree in the form of a sword. Giving a few practice swings, I grab a rock and toss it upward before swinging my beam saber, slicing right through it and showing its power. "This handle has more power than you can expect, my friend. Now go." I ordered once more, and Snooper nods with a salute. "Good luck sir!" She would squeak before leaping down to the barracks, her wings slowing her fall. Leaping off the opposite edge of the scout, I land just in time to see a family of four being stalked by a lone Zaku reaching behind its back and grab a Cracker Grenade. With little time to formulate a plan, I did what I figured would work best. "HEY!" My shout causes the Zaku to turn its attention to me as I put my thrusters to max output. In a blur of white, I tackle the enemy, stunning it as well as causing it to loss its grip on the grenade it had armed. "Yay! Sir Zero!" Cried one of the foals I saved, unaware they were not in the clear yet. "Look out!" I yell, pushing the foal away and covering the cracker grenade with my body and wings. I could then hear the fuses in the small compartments of the device go off, followed by intense heat and pain. "Substantial damage to core body. Switching to safe mode to ensure full reparations and recovery. Expected time: Tw**** day*...." My life is finally flashing before my eyes, it seems. From when I seen my mother's face for the first time, to Luna's smile of knowing she had a friend who adored her night sky. Honestly, I find it ironic that I was more happy in a world where I'm a robot. Yet, there's this nagging, like my role is not complete yet. Well, I'll sleep on it and figure it out later. Hopefully Celestia and Luna won't be too harsh on me. > Time Flies By When You Self-Repair > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- How long has it been? I know the AI said something about several days, but it feels like it's been more than that. My internal clock must still be damaged if I don't have any idea, yet. "Repair of all systems at 99%. Reactivating visual sensors." Huh. Finally waking up, am I? Well, I hope Celestia and Luna are okay. I mean, we were under attack. As my vision returned, I notice instantly the more expansive view of the sky. The next thig I took note of was the budding bushes and small trees in the area, like a freshly made garden. "Uh...." was all I could voice out as I was in confusion. However, I hear a small squeak nearby and a rustle in one of the bushes. Turning my head (which was more a chore than I expected after the self repair), I notice a small pair of hazel eyes staring out at me. With a small smile (or at least expressing one through my eyes), I take a step down from the pedestal, finding that my movements were stiff as well. I guess it's too be expected when self repairing can take over a couple days. "Best make sure Celly and Lulu are okay." With that, I open my wings and move them a bit to get the stiffness out of them following the same action with my thrusters. Once I am certain everything was in decent operation, I look to the sky and take off, flying up to get a good idea of where we were. Apparently the garden was situated on an elevated landscape on the side of a mountain. While it did defy some factors of logic, I remind myself this is not Earth. Seeing a castle nearby, I fly to there in hopes of getting some answers from the princesses. Many ponies looked up to me, many seeming surprised and fearful, yet some elderly I noticed smiled as if in recognition. As I land, a squad of ponies appear to surround me, wearing armor and aiming spears at me, which makes me raise my hands. "Identify yourself!" Barked a unicorn, who apparently was the commander of this squad. I sigh as I am confused. "Royal Guard Commander Zero. I was under self repair apparently, which would put me in a state of hibernation until all damage was completely repaired. I have woken up recently and am curious as to why we are now on a mountain city apparently." The lead unicorn steps forward, glaring at me as he looked me over. He soon steps back, and he does something I didn't expect. "....BWAHAHAHAHAHA! Nice try, but that costume of our legendary commander doesn't fool me. How about you take off that oversized helmet and show your real face." I give a slight glare, which makes the soldiers behind the unicorn squirm a little. "If this were a helmet, how about you try to remove it instead? I doubt you can since I am being completely serious. What is your name and rank, soldier?" The unicorn snorts, his blue blue eyes giving back a similar intense glare. If I wasn't in this predicament right now, I'm certain we'd have a good laugh. "Royal Guard Captain Shining Armor. And I'll take you up on that offer." States the unicorn, his horn glowing with magic. I feel a tug on my head, but also notice he is suddenly struggling. He is doing a good job hiding his stress, but I could see him sweating as he struggled. After about 15 minutes, and in-between small talk saying he shouldn't strain himself too hard, Shining Armor gasps and releases his magic grip. "Does this prove to you I am not lying?" Shining Armor chuckles, clearly not wanting to give in. "Don't... get cocky with me.... pant ....Just need to figure out the release mechanism..." I sigh, unfurling my wings as I was done waiting. "While I'd enjoy humoring you more, Captain, I must speak with the Princesses. Aduei." With that, I launch myself up with my boosters and take flight over the guards, shocking them. Shining Armor barked orders for a chase, but I was already inside the castle before they could get started. I looked around and seen a lot of more modern items I thought I'd never see again, one being a maid listening to music on headphones. As I made my way to a pair of giant double doors, I am tackled out of the air by a couple of pegasi guards. "Oof! Impressive flanking tactic, but," I stand up, overpowering them as I was a machine, "don't judge a book by its cover. Your adversary can always be stronger than they seem." With a single motion of my wings, they are sent into a mob of unicorn and earth pony guards coming in led by Shining Armor. Shining Armor, clearly having enough, drew his sword in his magic grip. "Enough! You are now trespassing on royal grounds, and I advise you to surrender peacefully or else I'll-" Before he could finish, the doors open and reveal someone I didn't think I'd recognize if I didn't see her cutie mark. There, mouth gapping in shock, was an older Princess Celestia. I give a bow and kneel, lowering my head. "I have woken up, Princess." I then give a silly wink. "So, what did I miss, Celly?"
