I was staring at my screen, reading the description of the GBAs i found online. it was a set of four, with the colours blue, red, green and yellow. they had a strange set of devices attached to them, called Wireless Gamecube Connectors. They supposed allowed you to connect to the other end of the connector from anywhere, including use with an emulator on computers. the price for them was also surprisingly low, so without too much thought, i bought them, thinking Even if those link things aren't real, it's four GBAs, what's not to like about that?
Not even five minutes after buying them, i hear a knock on my door, walking over, i opened the door and see a basic cardboard box, with a shipping label on it. Grabbing the box and setting it down on my table, i picked up a knife and opened the box, cutting the packaging tape. lifting the flaps, i saw the four GBAs, and a few other things i didn't buy. There was a copy of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles in the box, as well as a Connector to plug the GBAs into a computer, styled after the game.
Grabbing the blue GBA and the connectors, i plugged it into my computer and powered it on, the screen immediately lit up, showing the all too familiar "Gameboy" screen, along with the old chime it plays. Seeing it power on like normal, i grabbed the game and put it in my computer's disc tray, while starting the emulator i always use, immediately after starting the game, i heard another chime from the GBA, and some text with the word "Nintendo" lit up, changing colours. This is working too well, if this is a dream, i don't wanna wake up.
A couple seconds after seeing the "Please Look At The TV Screen" message pop up, i heard sounds coming from the cardboard box, walking over i see all three of the other GBAs lit up, with the words "Searching For Friends" lit up on all three. after a couple seconds, they all switch to saying "Friend Found." I don't get the chance to look at who they found before something makes me pass out, the last text i read on the GBAs were "Please Look At Your Own GBA"
My vision flowed back to me as i woke up, feeling off but normal at the same time. looking down towards my body i immediately jumped from confusion. There was black fur all over me, and not just black fur, there were blue rings on my legs, and on my shoulders. I was wearing the Clavat starting gear from crystal chronicles, too. looking at my hands, i noticed they were paws, but with enough maneuverability to function just like my old hands. I almost didn't notice my new tail, if i hadn't looked to my left, seeing a glowing ring on it, too.
Beside it was the same blue GBA that i had turned on, only instead of it saying "Please Look At The TV Screen," it showed "Please Pick Up The GBA." Seeing it was strange, so i picked it up, and immediately noticed something new on it: a team status screen. the background was split into four colours, the blue part had my statistics on it, like my health, divided into four heart containers. the other three had names, and a message saying "Player too far away."
the red section had the name "Logan" written into it, making me laugh a little. Of course he'd be thrown in here, i can't wait to mess with him with this umbreon hybrid look i have now. green had the name "Chris," making me laugh even harder. If there's one, there has to be the other, at least they're people i know. and lastly yellow had "David" on it. Making me wonder a bit. If David's here, i've got someone who knows a bit about crystal chronicles like me.
looking around myself i finally notice the forest i'm in, as well as something weird in my pocket. pulling it out, there's a miniature version of the Crystal Chalice sitting in my hand. setting it on the ground makes it grow in size to be an actual one. A sphere forms around it and expands out, forming a blue circle underneath me.
Finally getting up from the ground i put the GBA in my pocket before lifting the chalice over my head. it's surprisingly light weight for being made out of what looks like a quartz of some kind. Well, time to go find my friends i guess. Starting my walk down a trail i hear rustling in a bush, followed by a pair of cream coloured ears sticking out. "Hello? Is someone there?" after asking that question, the ears moved for a moment before disappearing into the bush with an "Eep" noise.
a few seconds later, i saw a head pop out of the bush. It looked like a pony head, with cream coloured fur and pink hair. Soon, it responded to what i asked. "umm, i'm here. i've never seen an animal like you before, and what are you holding above your head?" she nervously asked, before looking at the sword and shield on my back. "w-what's with the weapons? Are you a hunter or something?" She then starts to lower herself back into the bush.
Seeing how the weapons scared her, i set the chalice on the ground and put my weaponry beside it. "No, i'm not a hunter, those are for self defense, more than anything." i crouch down to her and look at her in the eyes. "My name's Marcus, what's yours? she leaves the bush and i can see she's an actual pony. once they are out i grab my weapons and pick the chalice back up, raising it over my head.
"I'm Fluttershy. it's nice to meet you, i guess." I was barely able to hear her name, but it was enough for us to continue down the trail. "why are you holding that weird crystal thing, if you don't mind that i'm asking, anyway.
"This?" I point to the chalice and she nods. "This is a Crystal Chalice, it holds back a poison called Miasma. really dangerous stuff, it can do a lot of damage in seconds to someone's body." After saying that, i see people in the distance on the trail, both of them having coloured rings underneath them, one being red, the other green. immediately after seeing me they start walking over.
The one with the red ring was wearing a black suit, and holding a red GBA. He had pinkish fur with a red gem on his forehead. i start snickering over it, and he groans slightly knowing one of the first things i thought about it. the Y shaped tail he had stayed behind him as he walked towards me.
The green ring had another good friend walking in it. The GBA he held was green. He seemed to be more human than the me or logan, wearing a beanie and sweater, and had a flashlight strapped to his hip. He looked at me, smirked, then starting moonwalking, making an old joke.
"Chris, Logan! how've you been so far? I see logan got turned into an Espeon, but why do you look like Quentin from dbd?" I asked, looking at the two.
"I have no idea. I saw a message, then a GBA dropped onto my lap out of nowhere." Chris said, wondering what the cause for it was.
"This is dumb, what would even make this happen in the first place?" Logan responded, his tail seemingly moving without any thought to it. Remembering the messages the GBA said about the other people being too far away, i pull mine out, and see the statistic lines for each of us.
