> I'm What?! > by DanishDash > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Chapter 1 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Another beautiful day in Ponyville! The sky was blue, the birds were singing, and everything just seemed to be perfect today! Rainbow Dash certainly thought so as she flew through the sky, leaving her classic rainbow trail behind her. She was meeting up with her friends today, and she might as well practice an awesome entry to impress them with her awesomeness. When she got into the Wonderbolts, she needed to be even more awesome, and anything she could practice now would help her nail it later. She looked forward to hanging out with her friends, they were going to have a nice picnic by the lake. Rainbow was pretty hungry, she did not feel so good this morning, and she even threw up randomly at some point. At the time she was worried she was sick, but the feeling went away, and she decided to just move on with her day. Ergh..  Just thinking about throwing up made her feel a little sick, luckily enough she had the lake in sight, and also her friends, who were all waving at her. She smiled, and started to descend, trying to think about an awesome thing to say when she landed, or an awesome pose she could do. Trying, being the key word here. Because now that she had thought about throwing up into the toilet this morning, she suddenly felt sick again. It didn't help that she was flying, it was like it felt all wrong and she didn't have stability anymore, something her mind couldn't handle, or her stomach. "Erhhh... Oh... Noooo.." She groaned, feeling more and more sick the more she thought about it. She had no choice but to dive to the side, near a bush and- "Hrrrrrrrhhhhhhhhh!!" Her friend all looked shocked and confused as Rainbow was seemingly throwing up into a bush. That was certainly not the entry they had expected, or was used to. They all looked between one another, all worried, but decided to give Rainbow some time to recover before they asked if she was okay. Didn't take too long, soon enough Rainbow moved her head out of the bush, and wobbled towards her friends, still a little out of it. When she sat down, Rarity was kind enough to levitate some water her way, which Rainbow gladly accepted to wash away the foul taste of whatever was left to hurl up. Finally someone spoke. "Well, that was quite the entrance, sugarcube. How ya feeling?" Asked Applejack. Rainbow removed the water bottle, gasping for some air as she had been downing the entire bottle in one go. "Bhah... I'm fine, though I think I'm coming down with something.." She said, not sounding too worried. "But yeah, it ruined my awesome entrance!" Rainbow huffed a little, then looked at the food. While she was hungry, she was going to let her stomach settle a bit before digging in. "Maybe you've just eaten too many cupcakes!" Pinkie suggested, bouncing a bit where she sat. "I've never thrown up, but I've heard other ponies do when they eat too much!" Then she pointed at Rainbow Dash's stomach section, laughing a bit. "You've even grown bigger!" "What?!" Rainbow looked down at herself, but she couldn't really see anything different about herself. The other girls looked as well, all trying to see what Pinkie was seeing. Rarity was of course the first one to notice. "Oh my! Pinkie is right, you have grown, darling!" The others started to notice it too, it was VERY subtle, but they could see her stomach had grown a little. Even Rainbow could see it now. "Wha, but I, but I fly every day! I'm not some couch potato!" "Well, maybe it's a diet thing..?" Fluttershy suggested. Twilight nodded. "Yes, Fluttershy is right. Most likely it has something to do with your diet. Have you been eating more than usual?" Rainbow moved a hoof to her muzzle in a thoughtful way. "Hmmm, well, maybe a little bit, but not by that much. Mostly I've just been starting to try out some new dishes." "What kind?" Asked Fluttershy. "Well, I've enjoyed fresh pickles coated with honey, and sprinkled with rainbow pops." She told, almost getting hungry by the mere thought. The others on the other hoof looked more disgusted. "Rainbow pops? The cereal?" Twilight asked. "Yeah, exactly!" Rainbow smiled. "It really gives the sour and sweet flavor that extra pop!" The girls looked at each other, a bit worried. "How do you even come up with something that ridiculo-" "You like that too?!" Pinkie interrupted excitedly. Twilight didn't like the sound of those things, but pushed on. "Well, as strange as that is, I guess it's not bad? Uhm, anything else?" "Hmmmmm..." Rainbow thought again. "Well, a fish calzone with pancakes and an avocado, sprinkled with rainbow pops." Rarity went from having a pure white coat, to something more green. "Again with the rainbow pops?" She exclaimed, looking away. Rainbow just shrugged. "What? They taste awesome, and are part of a complete Pegasus breakfast!" Pinkie nodded in agreement. "Rainbow pops are pretty awesome.." "That's not the issue here!" Applejack reminded them, then looked at Rainbow Dash. "Sugarcube, since when have you started eating fish calzones?" The concept was so strange, and even she felt like throwing up now. Rainbow just shrugged. "I don't know, it was just something I craved one evening." She really didn't seem bothered by it, which was strange by itself. Rainbow however, now seemed to have had enough of this. "Can we just have a good time and eat, I'm okay? I'm just going to drink some juice when I get home, and sleep in tomorrow, then I should be right as rain!" Again the five friends looked at one another, trying to figure out if they should let it go or not. Rainbow wasn't hiding the fact she was feeling strange, and she had said she would rest when she got home, so maybe it really just was a small cold or something, nothing to be alarmed about. Looking back at their cyan colored friend, they relented. "Alright, Rainbow, if you're sure." Rainbow snorted. "Pfffft, of course I'm sure! Now, Applesmack, give me some of that apple alcoholic love potion!" She said excitedly. "I've been looking forward to this all week!" Applejack chuckled, taking out the bottle. "Alright, hun. You get the last bottle of it I have, you won it fair and square, but are you sure you should drink it while you're feeling down?" Once again, Rainbow snorted. "Pffft, give it to me already!" "Alright then, but let me warn ya, it's strong stuff." Applejack replied, moving to give it to Rainbow. "Yeah, yeah, just-" Before Rainbow could finish that sentence, the bottle was smacked away from her hooves by a pink one, and the bottle was smashed against a tree, spilling the alcoholic contents out on the ground. The whole scene made everypony freeze up at the culprit.  "Pinkie!" Rainbow glared. "What the hay was that for?!"  Pinkie looked at Rainbow with an apologetic expression. "Sorry, Dashie, but my tail told me you shouldn't drink that. It would be dangerous." "What are you talking about, I've tried alcohol before!" Rainbow said, still in a mix of anger and disbelief.  "Well, my tail just warned me of the danger of you drinking that stuff, but.." She looked back at it. "Something is different.. Hmmm.. Maybe my tail is sick too..?" Then she looked at Rainbow, a strange serious look in her eyes. "Rainbow, I don't think you should drink any alcohol for some time." Rainbow looked stunned, then over at the shattered bottle, then back at Pinkie. "I was really looking forward to that!" She protested, her eyes watering, which took everypony by surprise. Fluttershy was at her side quickly. "My gosh, Rainbow, are you crying?" "No!" Rainbow insisted, trying to wipe some tears away. "I mean, yes, but why?!" She started sobbing, then straight out crying. "It's just, I've been... Sob... Sniff... Sniff... Working so hard to... Sniff... Sob... to get that last bottle from Applesmack, and now... Sniff... It's just gone, and I... Sniff... Have to wait until next year!!!" "There, there.." Fluttershy cooed, embracing her friend, letting her cry into her chest. The rest of the group all turned to look at Twilight, who looked concerned, and said. "I think we need to see a doctor.." > Chapter 2 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "I still think this is a waste of time!"  Rainbow grumbled from on top of the examination table. She had been dragged away from a picnic by her friends, who all insisted they needed to visit the doctor. "Rainbow, you've been acting strange lately, today has been the worst example to date. We're worried about you." Twilight replied, looking up at her with an almost big sister attitude. "We just want to make sure you're okay." Fluttershy nodded, giving her an almost motherly look. "It's for your own good." Rainbow just groaned. "Fine, but as soon as the doctor gets back, we're leaving!" "Darling, I'm sure everything is okay, maybe you've been stung by some magical insect." Rarity suggested, and the others nodded. They all agreed that Rainbow was not acting like herself all the time, and maybe she had something. Maybe she had been stung, or eaten something she shouldn't. At any rate, it wouldn't hurt to make sure they had all the bases covered, and if nothing was wrong, then no harm done. When the door to the room finally opened again, a stoic doctor Horse walked in, levitating a clipboard with his magic. Already Twilight was in his face. "So, what did the tests say, Doctor?" Doctor Horse sighed, gently pushing the mare aside so he could trot closer to Rainbow and talk to his actual patient. "Well, all the tests you forced me to do told me what I suspected in the first place." "What?" All the mares asked, though Rainbow sounding more impatient than annoyed. "Absolutely nothing. Miss Dash is completely healthy, and what she is going through is completely normal for a pregnant mare." Rainbow smirked. "HAH! I told you guys, I'm completely fi-wait I'M WHAT?!" Her friends also seemed shocked, though they were too shocked to even speak. "Pregnant, I'm guessing you didn't know that?" The doctor asked, then shrugged when he got no answer. "Well, surprise." "Wait, no, I can't be pregnant!" Rainbow argued. "I don't even have a coltfriend!" "Have you had sex in the past three months or so?" The doctor asked. "Well, yeah, bu-" "Then that's how you became pregnant." He replied. "Your body doesn't really care if you know your foal's daddy all that well." A lot of thoughts raced through Rainbow's mind right now. "But.. I need to.. I..." She looked at Doctor Horse, her eyes desperate. "Doctor, what do I do?" The middle aged stallion sighed. "Well, you do what most responsible mares do your age." "W-what?" "You give birth, you feed your foal, play with it, make sure it survives until you can take it to school where it will learn basic stuff. You let it play with other foals, and watch it grow up, and hopefully avoid the same mistakes you made." He explained in a very calm tone, then shrugged. "But as I said, that is what the responsible mares do, and as your doctor, that is the route I recommend you go with." Then he eyed her friends. "I guess the father is not informed of this?" Rainbow shook her head half absently. "N-no.." "Alright, well, if you know, or remember his name, you should let him know." Then he turned around. "The nurse will be with you in a minute to inform you of the progression, and the precautions you should take. Good day to you all." The door was shut behind him, and Rarity did a, "hmph! What a rude doctor!" "Rainbow Dash?" Fluttershy asked carefully as she approached her friend slowly. "Are you alright?" "NO!" Rainbow exclaimed, her eyes filling with tears. "I'm not alright, Fluttershy!" Looking down at her stomach, she tried to wrap her mind around it all, but it was like she couldn't. "I can't be pregnant! I have things I need to do! I have plans!" It sounded selfish, but she didn't mean for it to sound like that. "I didn't mean for this to happen!" "Well, what did happen, Rainbow?" Applejack asked, raising an eyebrow. "I didn't know you were seeing some fella?" "I'm not!" She insisted. "It was just a stupid mistake, that's all!" "Rainbow Dash!" Rarity gasped, her eyes wide. "Did some stallion force himself on y-" "NO!" "Then what, darling? Were you drunk?" "No, well, maybe a little, but not enough to.. Erghhh!" Rainbow felt like screaming, this was all just too much for her. "Just forget about the dad for a minute! I have no idea what to do! Tryouts for the Wonderbolts are next Monday, and I can't show up like this!"  Twilight sighed, looking at her friends, then Rainbow. "I think we should get a hold of your parents, Rainbow, maybe they can-" "Oh no.." Rainbow gasped, holding her hoof to her head. "What am I going to tell mom? What am I going to tell my dad?!" Pinkie tried to calm her friend down, she knew right now was perhaps not the time for a party, but maybe she could lighten the mood a little. "I'm sure if you just talk to them, they will be-" "No no no no no no no no no!" She interrupted. "This is a mistake, I didn't plan on this! I have goals! And now this happens, all because of-!" Rainbow bit her lip, forbidding herself from saying whatever she was about to say. This was all too much, she could feel her tears running down her cheeks, it was all sinking in how much trouble she was in, and how much this would change her life. "Rainbow.." Before any of her friends could try and comfort her again, she leapt out the window, and flew off. Thankfully this time the window was open, unlike some other times. About the same time that she had vanished out the window, the door to the room opened, and in trotted nurse Redheart.  "Alrighty, Miss Dash?" She looked around at the five mares, all looking worried and slightly nervous. Redheart sighed. "She jumped out the window, didn't she?" The five mares sighed, and nodded. "She's not the first runner we've had." She took out a pamphlet from her clipboard with her teeth, and gave it to Twilight. "This is just some basic information, tips and warnings, but the best thing would of course be if she came in and talked to one of us." Twilight nodded, levitating the pamphlet into the picnic basket. "She doesn't seem too thrilled.." Redheart shrugged. "Well, Doctor Horse told me this wasn't planned, and the father is most likely not aware of the whole situation?" Twilight and the others nodded. "Well, then it must have come as quite a shock I'm sure. The best thing you can do for her is to be there, make sure she doesn't feel like she is alone in all of this. She should talk to her family, and if willing, the father." "I don't think that will be easy, darling." Rarity said, looking out the window. "She seemed set on not sharing that with us." Redheart nodded. "Well, in my experience she will need some time to come to terms with the news in the first place. When you do approach her however, sometimes it is good just to listen, and not bombard her with questions, letting her take things at her own pace." Glancing at the clock on the wall, she turned towards the door. "In any case, the best thing for you to do is to be there for her. Now, I have other patients, you have a good day." Once the five friends left the hospital, they all felt confused and conflicted. Rainbow hadn't hidden anything from them, she was just as shocked, well, even more shocked to find out she was pregnant than they were. However, none of the five friends had any idea who this stallion could be. "What if the father is Big Mac?" Twilight suggested, but then bit her lip as she noticed Applejack glaring at her. "My brother would never do something like this.." She stated in almost a scary calm voice. "Whoever it is, it doesn't sound like anything fishy was going on." Fluttershy added.  Rarity nodded. "Whatever the case, I don't think there has been any wrongdoing. I think Rainbow Dash just had some spontaneous fun, it was not planned, and this unfortunately happened. Rainbow Dash is rightfully, perhaps naively shocked this has happened, but there is nothing to be done about it. We need to be there for our friend." "Rarity is right," said Twilight. "I don't think anything other than a lack of judgement has happened here. So we need to be there for our friend." "What about the father?" Pinkie asked. "He should be informed of this so he can take some darn responsibility!" Applejack declared. "This should not have happened, but it has, and so there is only one right thing to do here!" "Unfortunately, darling, that is not our decision to make." Rarity reminded her. "This is Rainbow's life, we can't force her to tell us, and we can't make that kind of decision for her." "What do you mean?" Asked Applejack, sounding upset. "Our friend made a mistake with somepony else, so she should not have to carry that alone. Somepony is responsible for this, and he should be there to share it with Rainbow." Rarity just rolled her eyes. "We don't know what happened, darling. If we start assuming without knowing, we might do something to worsen the situation." "But-" "Enough!" Fluttershy yelled, gaining both mares attention. "Rainbow Dash is upset, confused, and probably scared. Let us take care of her before we start taking care of anything else." After a moment of silence, Applejack relented. "You're right, Fluttershy. I'm mighty sorry." "Me too." Rarity agreed. Pinkie bounced into the middle of the group of friends. "So, what do we do first??" > Chapter 3 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rainbow and Rarity always had their different interests, different opinions, and different ways of dealing with stress. Today however, Rainbow took out a page from Rarity's book, and was stuffing her face with ice-cream, laying on her couch, crying as she sprinkled more rainbow pops on the delicious dessert.  "Sniff.. It's over.." She sobbed, stuffing another spoonful of Racer Super Deluxe Caramel Chocolate Chip flavored ice-cream supreme into her mouth. "All those years of training, gone.. Sniff... Stupid, stupid, stupid.." She was well aware how whiney she sounded, how selfish she came across, but it was true. Years of training, and after one night, she was going to put all her dreams on hold. Was it the foal's fault? Of course not! This was her fault, she knew that... Though that didn't mean she couldn't cry and guide S.S. Pity to ice-cream island, and transport the goods back to her muzzle. "Goodbye dreams... Sniff.." She sang, guiding yet another spoonful of creamy pity to her mouth. Looking down at her stomach, she gently ran her hoof over it. "Enjoy the ice-cream, kid..."  Sighing, she leaned her head back, trying to clear her head. "You know.." She said after a few seconds of silence, speaking to her still growing foal like if it was actually there to listen. "This is going to be okay, right? I mean sure, I'm going to leave my dreams behind for a while, but, maybe I can join up after a year's time. Then you can join me on tour, sounds fun, right?" Silence. "Shut up, you don't know how cool it would be to have the fastest flyer as a mom, and as a flank kicking Wonderbolt! Yeah, you would have the coolest mom in Equestria!" Rainbow declarers, trying to convince herself she had just made a great point. "You get to see me fly, the other Wonderbolts. Not to mention you get to see the world, kiddo.. You'll even learn how to fly from the best!" Looking down at her stomach again she smiled. "Sounds great, right?" Silence. "I mean, sure, you would have to change schools a lot.." Rainbow continued, waving the spoon around as if to list off the more problematic things about that plan. "And that would make it hard to make friends, but you know, you can have pen pals, and that could-errghhhhhh...." Rainbow started to groan. "Noooo, that would suck.. And make me an uncool mom.." She didn't want her foal to grow up like that, moving from place to place all the time, never connecting with any real friends. Was it even a life she could imagine for herself as a little filly? No.. Her own parents had been there for her every step of the way, they had done everything they could to encourage her to pursue whatever dream she had. She wanted to do that for her foal as well, but it meant sacrificing her own dreams. Was that what it was to be a parent? What did her own mom sacrifice fo- Knock knock knock! Rainbow sighed, then looked into the ice-cream bucket. "Ergh.. Well, we were running low on frozen pity anyway, come on kiddo, lets see if there is more bad news at my door.." She mumbled, floating towards the door and opened it. She was expecting all of her friends, but no, it was only her oldest. "Oh, hey, Fluttershy. What's up..?" "Well, you kinda left in a hurry yesterday, I wanted to make sure you were okay.." Fluttershy replied, then tilting her head. "Uhm, you have some, uhm, right here?" She pointed to her own cheek, and Rainbow Dash did the same, wiping some ice-cream off her muzzle.  "Sorry, uhm, come in.." Rainbow said, walking back inside her cloud home. "You want some ice-cream? There must be some left somewhere.." Fluttershy looked around the many buckets scattered around the living room. "Uhm, that's okay.." She replied, doing her best not to step on any of the few drops of spilled melted ice-cream. "Do you want some tea?"  "No, don't have any.." Said Rainbow as she sat back down on the couch. "So, what is going on..?" "Rainbow, I wanted to check up on you. We haven't seen you since yesterday." Fluttershy moved closer, sitting herself down next to her friend, well, after pushing some buckets off the couch. "We wanted to give you some space, so are you ready to talk?" Rainbow Dash snorted, forcing a pained smile. "Whaaaaat? I'm fine, never better! I've just realized my life is basically over, and I can kiss my dreams goodbye!" Fluttershy frowned, a look Rainbow didn't like. "Alright.." She finally said, sighing. "I feel horrible.. Happy?" "No, but I'm glad you're sharing it with me."  There was a bit of silence after that. Rainbow appreciated the small break in conversation, it was like a small breathing room. Then she continued. "It's just, I've been training my whole life to join the Wonderbolts, and I finally have a legit shot to join up, but now.." She rubbed her stomach, and sighed again. "I just, what, give up my dreams?" "Hm.." Fluttershy thought about it, then turned the question around on her. "Well, what do you want to do?" Rainbow groaned as she leaned her body back. "I don't know.. I want to follow my dreams, but If I'm going to be a mom, I need to be all responsible and stuff, and it wouldn't be fair for him or her if I just took off." She closed her eyes tighter, buried her face in her hooves and let out a muffled scream. It wasn't the kind that was meant to be loud, but to show frustration.   When the screaming had ended, she kept her face buried in her hooves, refusing to look up at her friend. She just wanted to vanish, to melt away. Seeing her friend having reached a mental limit, Fluttershy scooted closer, wrapping a wing around Rainbow Dash and pulled her closer. Rainbow didn't resist, she just rested her head against her friend. She was too tired to cry anymore, or be angry. For the first time in her life she just wanted everything around her to slow down. She was thankful to Fluttershy, even though she didn't want other ponies to see her being comforted like this, it was good to know her friends were still there for her. After some time, she sat back up straight. "Thanks.." She mumbled, a faint smile gracing her lips. "Any time." Fluttershy assured her. "How about you come down and have some tea with me tomorrow morning?" Tea wasn't really her style, but Rainbow could use a good friend, and even she couldn't deny it was always relaxing to hang out with Fluttershy at her cottage. "Sure, sounds good." Then she looked around the battlefield. "Wow.. I should probably clean this up, then perhaps go out on an afternoon flight to burn some of this off." "Uhm, Rainbow?" "Yeah, Fluttershy?" "It's past dinnertime.." "WHAT?!" > Chapter 4 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tea, that was something that always helped Fluttershy calm down and relax. She knew it wasn't exactly Rainbow's way of relaxing, but she was going to have to do what was best for her pregnancy for a time, so maybe this would be a good time to reintroduce her to some more healthy habits. Though more importantly, Fluttershy wanted to lend her friend an ear, to be there and listen to her. Of course she hoped she could convince Rainbow to talk to her parents, but she wasn't going to pressure her. Rainbow needed to take her time, but she also needed to understand that the longer she waited, the more difficult her pregnancy would be to hide. Then there was the question about the father. While Fluttershy didn't know the story behind that, she was pretty sure Rainbow Dash was not in any committed relationship. Rainbow was not the best at keeping such secrets, at the very least they would have noticed something sooner. So whatever had happened, she didn't imagine it was a stallion she was in a relationship with. Fluttershy would be lying if she said she wasn't curious, of course she was. But, she respected Rainbow and her right to privacy, and she hoped their friends would too. Speaking of which.. Turning around, Fluttershy walked into her living room where her friends were gathered. "You know, I'm not sure Rainbow will feel very comfortable if we're all here from the start." Fluttershy pointed out, moving a tray onto the coffee table and looked at the group with concerned eyes. "Well, we just want to make sure Rainbow knows we're here to support her." Twilight smiled, though seeming unsure about this whole thing as well. "Also, we might get some clues about who the dad is." Fluttershy frowned. "I thought we were going to let Rainbow take her time?" "We are." Rarity insisted. "But anything that might let us guess who it is will be most helpful!" "But for what?" Fluttershy asked, not following the logic here. "You said we shouldn't interfere."  "We won't." Applejack assured Fluttershy. "If I'm bein' honest, which I always am, I'm on your side, Fluttershy. Though I will say I would like to see how Rainbow is doin'." "And you, Pinkie?" Fluttershy asked, finally turning her attention to Pinkie Pie, and the massive cake that had suddenly appeared in her living room. "Well I thought we could celebrate Rainbow having a foal! Like a pregnant celebration!" She smiled happily.  The other girls turned to look at the massive cake. Rarity then tilted her head. "Is that rainbow pops..?" Pinkie nodded. "Yeppers! I used it instead of normal sprinkles!" Rarity shook by the mere mention of rainbow pops, she still hadn't gotten over the fact Rainbow was eating honey covered pickles and fish calzone, all of it sprinkled with rainbow pops. Fluttershy was stunned for a little while, but soon enough got it together, shook her head and tried to look firm. "Listen, I know we're all concerned about Rainbow Dash, but I don't think we should-" Knock, knock knock. "What comedic timing!" Pinkie giggled. Before Fluttershy could even attempt to say just a minute, or to open the door herself, Rainbow Dash walked in. "Hey, Flutters, sorry for being early, but I wanted to-" She stopped, seeing all her friends and a giant cake in the living room wasn't exactly what she had expected to see. "Uhm, morning..?" "Oh dear, I didn't expect this.." Fluttershy mumbled, already gearing up for an apology, but Rainbow just sighed and shook her head. "It's fine, Fluttershy, I know there isn't any way around it.." She looked at each of her friends, each of them well meaning and full of care. It felt good, and Rainbow wanted to share with them. "I guess we might as well get it over with." Then she eyed the cake, raising an eyebrow as she did so. Silence... Pinkie gestured to the cake, and whispered a tiny. "Surprise~" "Okay.. Well, do you mind if I sit?" Rainbow asked, trying to change the subject and ignore the cake that Pinkie was pushing out of frame. "Where're all the animals by the way?" Fluttershy trotted back into the room, carrying a tray on her back with four more tea cups. "They're all outside, they get very protective when they can sense someone is expecting." She explained, while Twilight used her magic to take the tray and share the cups amongst them. Rarity filled the two up Fluttershy had prepared for herself and Rainbow. She nodded a thank you to her two friends, and along with the others, sat down. There was again, silence. Every pony in the room is a little afraid to start the conversation straight out. "So.." Twilight then started, her eyes moving around the room, her lips moving up into a nervous smile. "Nice weather we're having." "Ergh.." Rainbow groaned hen rolled her eyes. "I suppose you all still want to know about what happened, and with who?"  All of them, except for Pinkie, looked away, all trying to look innocent. Pinkie just smiled, letting out a joyful, "yes!" Rainbow sighed, and then nodded. "Alright.. I suppose it's better to put it to bed now anyway.." She mumbled, and her friends all focused their attention on her. "First I'd like to say that nothing happened. This wasn't him versus me, nopony was forced into anything, the whole thing was not even planned, it just happened, okay?" All of them nodded. "So who was it?" Rarity asked. "Wow, so much for patience." Applejack mumbled, eying the unicorn. Rarity just waved her off. "Oh hush, darling. She is sharing, and I'm caring, so tell us, is he handsome?" "Well..." Rainbow started, looking away as she thought about it. Twilight perked up. "Is he smart?" "Well I guess, but.." "Is he fun?" Asked Pinkie. Fluttershy followed up by asking. "Is he kind..?" And then Applejack. "Is he honest?" "Well, come on, Rainbow Dash." Prompted Rarity. "How is he?" "He's a dork." Rainbow finally said, her tone flat. "He's a nerd with nerdy tastes. He is totally lame, and can never get close to my coolness." "But?" Prompted Fluttershy. "Well.." Rainbow relented. "He is cute, I guess, and he is very sweet and caring.." She started to blush. "He's a friend, and I've never really seen him as anything else.." Fluttershy thought this over for a moment, then her expression became one of utter surprise. "Is it Doodle?!" The others looked at Fluttershy. "Who?" Before answering that very legit question, Fluttershy looked to Rainbow, who was all red and trying to hide behind her wings. Confirmation! It was Doodle! Looking to the others, Fluttershy started to explain. "Doodle is a Pegasus that grew up next to Rainbow Dash back in Cloudsdale." Then they all looked at Rainbow. "A foalhood sweetheart?" Rarity asked. "No!" Rainbow exclaimed. "He was just this dorky colt that was picked on a lot. He just happened to live next to me, and I took pity on him!" "Now that isn't fair, Rainbow." Fluttershy said a little sternly. "You two did hang out quite a bit back in Cloudsdale." "Yeah, but you know, out of pity! It kept his bullies away!" Rainbow tried, then added. "And he made me laugh..." Her blush increased. "Well, fine! We were friends, we still are, and he came to visit a few months back, and one thing led to another, and.. Well.. Erghhh... I'm gonna kill him.." Applejack raised an eyebrow. "This Doodle fella, how did you come to meet?" Pinkie squealed. "Oh, oh! Flashback time! But It has to wait for the next chapter!" "Next chapter? What do you mean Pinki-" > Chapter 5 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I met Doodle when I was just a filly, and I- Oh, so we are starting that far back? Yes? Where did you think I would start? Well, I thought you would start from when you and he started to... You know what? Never mind, darling, please continue. As I was saying, I met Doodle when I was just a filly. Believe it or not, I haven't always been the winning cool fast mare you know today! No, there was a time when I barely got to third or second place. On the day that I met Doodle, I had just lost my second race in a month, I was pretty down about it, despite my parents encouragements.  After we returned home, my mom wanted to cheer me up, so she went to the kitchen to make me my favorite sandwich, a pasta and potato salad sandwich on sourdough. My dad had to go to work, so I didn't really have anything else to do, but to go out in our back garden. Now, I'm not a sore loser. Ehh.. But I was maybe, kinda, having a hard time.. "..It's not fair.. Sniff.. I worked so hard... Sniff.. But I still came in third.." "A fair maiden is crying, fear not my lady, I, sir Doodle, will come to your aid!" A voice suddenly called out from behind the cloud fence, separating my back garden to the neighbor's. Before I could even think about who had just called out to me, some crazy pony tried to run through the fence, but got stuck, so only a head poked through. It was a colt in three different shades of blue. His coat was, hmm, dark azure, with a blue mane and light blue eyes. His mane was all spikey, and it stuck out from under his tinfoil homemade helmet. He looked confused at first, but that made two of us, and after a few tries, he realized he was stuck.  "Oops, not again..." He said pretty casually, like this was a common thing. Then his eyes met mine, and he grinned. "Fear not my lady, I might have gotten captured, but I shall soon be free to help thee!" Silence.. "Uhm, I'm Doodle, what's your name?" He asked that so casually, like he wasn't even stuck in the cloud fence. "Rainbow Dash.." "That's a pretty cute name!" He didn't know any better, so I gave him some sla- "I'm not cute! I'm super cool, and awesome!" He tilted his head, his smile reducing in size, but only into a small confused one. "Then why are you crying?" "I didn't cry!" I insisted, though it was pretty clear he didn't buy it. "Are you sure?" Asked Doodle. "It's okay if you were, I won't tell." "I wasn't!" I almost yelled. A few more tears came down my cheeks, and he started to look concerned, which annoyed me. "It's just, at the race in the park, I came in third." His eyes widened, sparkling even. "Wow, you were in the race and came in third? That's so cool!" I stomped my hoof into the cloud beneath me. "No it's not, I came in third!" "That's not so bad. I usually fall behind so much that many ponies have already gone home when I cross the finish line!"  I snorted, about to call him on his bluff, but the way he smiled at me told me he was being dead serious, and yet it didn't seem to bother him. "Nopony is that slow, and if you were, why would you even finish?" Doodle just shrugged, or so I imagined, it was kind of hard to tell with most of his body stuck in a cloud. "Well, it would be a waste if I didn't finish the race. You must be pretty fast to come in third though, I could never be that fast." "But I wasn't number one!"  He just shrugged, again, I imagined he did. Then he looked at me with such kind eyes, pretty cute, for a colt. "Maybe not today, but maybe tomorrow? You weren't the last one, and you did complete the race. Not only that, but the one you got was the one you earned, fair and square." It was hard to argue with that, and I realized he had a point. Sure, I may not have won that race, but it just meant there was more that I could do, new goals to be reached. I felt my tears vanish, and for the first time since the race, I smiled. Maybe that should be his special talent, because no matter what, he always made me smile. "So you like flying?" He asked, still smiling, and still stuck. I struck an awesome pose! "Yes, I'm going to be a Wonderbolt one day!" "Wow, a wonderbolt? That's so cool!" "I know, right?" I grinned, trotting closer to him. "So, what do you like?" "Oh me? Well, lots of things! I like card games, comics, uhm, drawing, books, and cheesecake!" He sounded like a total egghead, but he really just liked whatever he thought was fun, which meant he was at least not an egghead like Twilight. Hey! I'm just messing with you. Anyway, we talked for a bit, and before he lost feeling with his hooves, my mom came out and pulled him out. He was very happy, and he looked really cool in his tinfoil armor and red cape. But that was how we met, him being stuck and yet cheering me up. We became friends. Out of pity? Are you sure about that, sugarcube? Well, okay, it wasn't really out of pity.. Anyway, as time went on we became closer and closer. Being the new foal on the block, I showed him around, while trying to teach him how to really fly. Trust me, he wasn't kidding when he said he was a slow flyer. He got better, and it was fun to teach another how to really fly, his form was really bad. We had good times, and bad times. "It's going to be okay Doodle.." I said calmly, holding a wet cold cloth to his forehead. "Those big bullies will get what's coming to them when I get my hooves on them." Doodle was never really the popular colt in class, so he got picked on a lot. "It's okay, it happens.." He said, wincing a little. "No, it's not okay, Doodle. Those three idiots keeps beating you up, and I'm sick of it!" He just smiled, as he always does, even when life gave him a hard time. "But, you saved me, so everything is going to be oka-Ow!" "Sit still, you dork!" "Sorry, and you know, thanks.." Mmmm... Then what happened? Nothing.. Then why are you blushing? I'm not blushing! Yes you are! Come now darling, what happened? Erggh, fine!  "Sorry, and you know, thanks.." He looked into my eyes with his big blue ones. I don't know, I felt all fuzzy for a moment, and I felt bad for him. So, to make him feel better, I leaned in and planted a small peck on his cheek. Awwwwwww~ Shut up... So anyway, our friendship has a long history, but to make a long story short, after we both got old enough, we got jobs, and moved around. I moved to Ponyville first, working at the weather factory, Doodle moved a few months after, getting a job at the local newspaper.  We would meet up once in a while, but becoming an element of harmony, and his career taking off, we didn't have as much time for each other as we used to. That was okay, we still had fun when we hung out, and there were never any bad feelings about it. We had both grown, you know? Gotten new friends, new responsibilities, and all that fluff. He didn't mind, he loved hearing stories about our adventures, and thought it was pretty cool and awesome, which it is, that I'm an element of harmony. Anyway, so about three months ago, during hearts and hooves day.. Well, you remember how I acted like it didn't bother me? Well it did, no one had even attempted to ask me out. You would think after so many years of trying it, I would be used to it. So I was at home, trying to find some way to deal with my frustration. Then, somepony knocked on my door. Maybe I should have seen it coming, but I still found myself surprised as I opened the door, and there stood Doodle, all smiling and cheerful, holding flowers, and two bottles of cider. I couldn't believe it, well, I could, but I was just so overcome I just started to.. Ergh... To cry.. Doodle was of course confused, the featherbrain, but he did what he did best, made me smile. I was so happy to see him, and he took care of me. Uhm..? No, not like that! We spent the whole afternoon, and evening just hanging out. During that time, he made me feel special, like in a way I had never tried before. I won't say he tried to flirt with me, or that his intentions were other than simply friendly, but it ended with me kissing him, and with, well, it ended with us in my bedroom. > Chapter 6 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "So that's pretty much it.." Rainbow finished off, then looked at her friends, who, somehow looked disappointed. "What?" "Well, then what happened?" Rainbow raised an eyebrow. "Are you serious, Twilight? We had sex, what else would we have been doing in my bedroom?" Pinkie raised her hoof. "Oh, oh, oh! Maybe a pillow fight!?" "Yes, well, we didn't have a pillow fight." Rainbow said with strained patience, blushing. "We had fun in other ways.." Silence filled the room, and Rainbow looked over her friends, who all looked embarrassed somehow, well, except for Pinkie Pie who just smiled and waved at her as her eyes passed her. "What now?" Rarity fumbled with her hooves, trying to find the right words. "Well, darling, was it, you know, good?" Rainbow face hoofed before looking at her. "What?" "You know, dear, it's just, I don't think any of us have tried to.." Rarity trailed off, looking away as she had a hard time holding eye contact. "You can't be serious." Said Rainbow, staring at her friends with a flat expression. "I tell you everything, and that's your reaction?" "Oh come on! We're your friends, so you have to tell us! That's the rule!" To everyone's surprise, that didn't come from Rarity, but from Twilight, who after a second or two realized she had just been yelling. "Oh, sorry.. I'm just curious." Rainbow groaned. "Twilight, what do you expect? That I write some sort of report on it?" The question was a sarcastic one, but when Twilight didn't reply and just kept looking at her expectantly, Rainbow exclaimed a firm. "No!" "Uhm, not to intrude.." Fluttershy then said. "But, what are you going to do now? Are you going to tell him?" "I, well.." Rainbow sighed and leaned back on the couch. "Well, it's not like he will go away if I tell him.." She let out a little snort, then chuckled. "If I know him right he will do exactly as Applejack would want, marry me on the spot. He's like that, always wanted to be the hero." "Then doesn't that settle it?" Asked Applejack, first looking at Rainbow, then at her friends for support. "If he is an honrorable stallion, then he'll take responsibility."  Rainbow sighed. "You don't get it, I don't want him to marry me because he feels he has to. I want him to marry me because he wants to." There was silence for a few seconds, then Pinkie leaned forward and asked calmly. "What do you want, Rainbow Dash?" She felt like letting out a groan again, but she refrained from doing so. Instead her mind raced to come up with an answer. Doodle was not the type to just drop everything, she knew he would be there, but would it be because he had to? Or because he wanted to? No matter the case, she should tell him. Doodle had not intended this, he was a good guy, and she could easily imagine him as a father. He deserved to know the truth, but then it came to telling him, and Rainbow didn't like to think about it. What could she say? 'Hey Doodle, remember that night we spent in my bed? Yeah, turns out I'm preggers, and you're my foal's daddy!' This really didn't appeal to her at all, she would need to come up with something better. As if sensing her distress, her friends moved closer, and before she knew it, she was gently pulled into a group hug. At first she wanted to protest, but soon enough, she let it happen, enjoying the calm of it all.  "Thanks, girls." Rainbow said when they moved away again. "I just don't know how to do this.." "That's okay!" Pinkie Pie giggled. "It's not like there are easy answers to everything." "Don't mention it, darling. Though, the question remains, what do you want to do?" Rarity added, followed by Twilight. "You don't need to go through this alone. We're here for you, all of us." Looking at her five friends, Rainbow smiled. "I think.. I think I want to tell Doodle." Her friends smiled, all of them moving in for another hug. This time, Rainbow didn't even think about protesting it, she was lucky to have friends like this, and she just hoped her own foal would get so lucky one day. Pinkie giggled. "Yay, friendship!" > Chapter 7 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Okay, this was it, there was no turning back now.. Rainbow stood in the street, looking at Doodle's house in Ponyville. She had decided to tell him about their foal, which was a fair decision, but she had never been so nervous before in her life. Her friends had her back though, which did help a lot. On the other hoof, they also made sure she was going through with this. She knew full well if she tried to run now, that Twilight's magic would be on her even faster than she could get off the ground. "You can do this." Twilight encouraged. Applejack nodded. "We'll be right behind ya." Rainbow just nodded, taking a deep breath as she took her first steps towards the front door. The house itself was nothing special, looked like every other house in Ponyville. Funny enough, Rainbow had actually not been here so often. Mostly it was Doodle who came to her. In fact, most of the time they did what she wanted to do. Doodle was not a very sporty Pegasus, while he enjoyed flying, he preferred to relax with a book, or play one of his games. He had never been very competitive. Doodle had however never complained when she wanted to race, and while he certainly wasn't as fast as her, he had improved a lot over the years, she even bet he could give an average Pegasus a hard time now. But all of that hard work she had put him through, it had all been because of her, it had never been something he had wanted to do. As she stopped in front of the door she wondered, was she just dropping him into more work? The mere thought made her sick to her stomach. She knew Doodle well enough to know he wouldn't see it like that, she knew he would do as Applejack wanted and do what he thought was the right thing to do, marry her. But Rainbow meant what she said, if he was going to ask her, it should be because he wanted to, not because he felt obligated.  That night three months ago, she was the one who initiated everything. Doodle never made a move, she kissed him, and only then did he kiss back. She was the one leading him, not the other way around. But was it because he couldn't say no? Did he even want to be with her? Suddenly the door flung open with a huge smack, making Rainbow and her friends jump in surprise. In the door stood a figure, dressed in a black cape, a black mask, and a black hat. "Ahah! Fear not noble friends! It is I, Night Wonder, the dashing rogue with a heart of gold! I am here to defend the helpless and stand up to, oh!" He stopped, seeing the group staring at him with wide eyes. "Hey, Rainbow Da-Arg-Ow!" He exclaimed as Rainbow gave a light flick over his snout with her hoof. "What was that for?" "For scaring my friends, you idiot!" She replied, not factoring in herself. "What was up with that intro anyway?" Doodle chuckled embarrassed. "Well I was expecting somepony else actually, I thought they had come early." Then he looked past Rainbow, and his smile grew. "Oh hey! You're the elements of harmony!" Then he looked at each of them. "Twilight Sparkle, element of magic. Fluttershy, element of kindness. Rarity, element of generosity. Applejack, element of honesty, oh! And of course Pinkie Pie, element of laughter! Nice to meet you all, I'm Doodle!" All of them stared at him, not that there was anything wrong with him, he was just very friendly and positive from the get go. Pinkie loved it of course, giggling. "Its nice to meet you, Doodle!" He chuckled. "So, what brings you girls to my door?" Silence... Doodle tilted his head, looking from Rainbow, to each of her friends, then back at Rainbow. None of them looked very comfortable, and Rainbow didn't even look him in the eyes. Had he done something wrong? Or was there something wrong with Rainbow? Well, whatever it was, he wasn't going to find out by standing around outside, so he moved to the side to let them pass.  "Why don't you come in and make yourself at home?" The girls nodded. "Thank you, that's mighty kind of you." Applejack thanked, giving Rainbow a little nudge so she would start moving. Once all inside, Doodle closed the door, taking off his costume in the process. The house was very neat looking, not overly so, but it was clear that Doodle liked to keep things orderly. Like Rainbow Dash he had posters on the walls, but they were framed, and aligned more neatly. Rainbow Dash had a more chaotic way of decorating, this place felt much less chaotic.  In the middle of the living room was a large table. Spread across it was a large map, with tiny figures, models, and cards. Twilight recognized it instantly. "Ogres & Oubliettes?" Doodle nodded. "It's game night tonight, I'm having guests over later to play." "Wait, are you the friend Spike visits for game nights?" Twilight asked, a little shocked. Doodle just looked unsure how to react. "Uhm, yes? I thought you knew that, he, Big Mac, and Time Turner all come over to play once a week." Ding! Doodle smiled. "Oh, the snacks are done! You girls make yourself comfortable, I'll be right back!" Doodle left for the kitchen, leaving Rainbow and her friends alone in the living room. Rainbow let out a sigh, almost relieved that he was gone. "Are you okay?" Asked Fluttershy in a low tone. "I don't know, it all seems so much harder now that I'm here." Rainbow admitted, walking to the couch and sat down along with her friends, who either sat down on a chair, on the couch, or remained standing. "I think you're being very brave," said Applejack. "Good on you, sugarcube." Rainbow smiled. "Thanks, Aj." "Yes, we quite understand the difficulty. It mustn't be easy for you to do this, I can't even imagine how I would feel." Added Rarity, looking concerned, yet supportive of Rainbow.  "Well, it isn't fun, I can tell you that." Said Rainbow, taking a few deep breaths, leaning back on the couch and stroked her stomach with her wing. "But I'm not going to run away from this.. Doodle deserves to know, and so does this little featherhead."  Twilight smiled, sitting down on the floor. "I must say, Rainbow, you've really seemed to have settled into the idea of you being pregnant very nicely." SMASH! A sound of broken cups and pots caught their attention, and everypony looked in the direction of the kitchen. There at the entrance stood a shocked Doodle, his eyes wide, his mouth slightly open. He didn't speak, nor did he make any sound whatsoever, he only looked at Rainbow Dash. Around his hooves were broken cups, a tray that had been on his back, and spilled tea. Nobody moved an inch, nobody uttered a single word. Rainbow Dash only stared back at him, her eyes wide like his own. The two of them just stared at one another for several unspoken seconds, until suddenly, without as much as speaking, he took careful steps towards her. With each step he took towards her, Rainbow seemed to shrink down little by little. Her cheeks were rosy, her eyes flickered about as she couldn't look at him suddenly. It felt like her heart was going a million miles per hour, and instinctively she covered herself slightly with her wings. Nopony spoke or moved as Doodle came to a stop right before her. His expression had hardly changed as he was still not sure what he had just heard. Swallowing nervously, he gathered his courage and asked. "Rainbow, is it true? Are you pregnant?" At first she didn't reply, but a few seconds later, her feathers parted just enough for her to peak through her wings and look at him. His face, she noted, was not angry, not sad, not even nervous. She couldn't tell if he was hopeful, or concerned, he wasn't smiling, he just kept looking at her, looking for the truth. Slowly she let her wings move down and settle themselves to her sides once more, her hooves moving to her stomach as she nodded. "Yes.."  Doodle swallowed again, seeming to hesitate for just a moment, and then he asked. "Is it ours..?" The meaning of that question went beyond if he was the father or not. She closed her eyes, shutting them tightly as she nodded. "Mhm!" Silence.. Rainbow couldn't see what he was doing, neither did she have the courage to open her eyes to see. She was afraid, something she hated to admit, even to herself. Afraid of seeing him walk out the door, afraid of not seeing him be there for her, and their foal. She heard and sensed him moving, but still she didn't dare open her eyes. Then she heard her friends let out small gasps, and her heart felt like exploding. She did was she was afraid to do, and slowly opened her eyes. There in front of her, on his flank, sat Doodle, his head bowed in front of her, his hoof reaching for hers. Her eyes watered as she knew what this was, and it wasn't good. "Rainbow Dash, would you do me the honor.." "No.. Please, no.." "And marry me?"  He looked up into her eyes, she was crying, shaking. Tears streamed from her eyes and created glistening waterfalls, she knew he would do this, but why would he?? The idiot, always playing the hero. Taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes, unable to look at him.  "No.." None of her friends moved, neither did Doodle, he didn't let go of her hoof, but he was surprised, even hurt. "I.." What could he say? He didn't want to force her, and she shouldn't be with some pony she didn't love. "I'm sorry, I thought.." "You thought you could save me..?" Rainbow asked, opening her eyes, removing her hoof from his to wipe the worst of her tears away. Doodle was confused, but he didn't know how to get to the core of this. "You're sweet, Doodle, but, you should not marry me." "Why?" He asked, even more confused. "Because you don't love me! You should not marry me because of our foal.." More tears appeared, and she looked away, feeling ashamed. "You always go along with whatever I do. You're always there to cheer me up, to do stuff you're even afraid of doing, just to please me.." She let out a long sigh. "You shouldn't have to do this because you felt sorry for me." Doodle wanted to take a double take on that one, but instead he just gave her a determined look, moving his hoof to her cheek. She wanted to pull away, but Doodle did not stop. "Rainbow.." He said, gently moving her head to look at him. "I didn't come to you because I felt sorry for you, and I don't want to marry you now because I feel like I have to." Looking into his eyes, those big, hopeful and sincere eyes of his, she knew he was telling the truth. Even so, she couldn't help but utter a small. "Really..?" Reaching up, he removed some of her mane from her face. "Of course, you silly mare..." He blushed, looking to the side. "Truth is, I've had a crush on you ever since we met in Cloudsdale.. You've always been so dedicated, and you've always been so loyal.." "And cool.." Rainbow mumbled with a little smile. "And awesome." Doodle winked. "Rainbow, whatever happens next, I will be there for you." His hoof gently touched her stomach. "And our foal.. I just hope it won't just be as your friend, or as a father, but as your husband.." Rainbow stared at him, her lower lip quivering, her tears streaming once again. Even so, she couldn't help but smile, this stupid idiot, featherbrain, this massive dork, he actually wanted to get married? She only looked at him, her adorkable hero, the hero who had smashed through her cloud fence many years ago. Could she really see herself as his wife? Making a family with him? "Yes.." Doodle looked up at her. "What?" "Yes.." Rainbow repeated, her smile growing as she nodded. "Yes, I'll marry you.. Dork.." Doodle started feeling tears in his eyes. Meanwhile, forgotten by both of them, her friends were all holding back tears as well. It wasn't until Twilight nudged her friends that they started to trot out of the house. "Let's go girls, I think they have things covered.." Twilight said, removing a happy tear from her eye.  Doodle chuckled, placing a small loving kiss on Rainbow's lips. "I love you, Rainbow Danger Dash.." Rainbow let out a laugh, still crying, but she was happy. "You're so cheesy, you know that?" Doodle just laughed, getting up and planting himself next to his soon to be wife. "I've been told that, but you like it." Looking up at him, she smiled. "Yes, yes I do.." And as a sign of such, she moved in closer, and kissed him. "I love you.." > Epilogue > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8 Years Later. Another beautiful evening in Ponyville! The sky was orange, the birds were slowly going to bed, and everything just seemed to be perfect today! For Rainbow, she was returning home after a totally awesome day at work. She was a Wonderbolt now, spare time. It had taken a lot of hard work, a lot of negotiating, and one or two letters of recommendations from princess Twilight and princess Celestia, but she was in. Now it wasn't something like her friends got her in, if Rainbow wasn't as skilled as she was, she would have never been able to convince Spitfire to let her join. Essentially she was a special member. She rarely did tours, and most of her shows were in the local areas. You would think that would damage her reputation, but in fact, it added a certain amount of mystic to her image that made her even more famous.  Though, Rainbow didn't care about that anymore, well a little, but it was no longer important to her. Life had worked out great, and despite not getting her foalhood dream, she had found a new dream, something that was better. A Wonderbolt in her spare time, a flight teacher as her job, a loving husband, and a trouble maker of a foal. Yeah, Rainbow Danger Dash, a teacher? Imagine that.. Well, Rainbow actually liked teaching. While she wasn't book strong, she had plenty of experience, and that had made her a well liked teacher. Most of all though, she loved showing her foal all kinds of tricks, taking him flying, showing him the sky. Now he was growing up, and she suddenly had a lot more work to deal with at home. Thankfully Doodle was good to keep order in the house, much more than she was. So looking back at everything in her life, Rainbow decided she would not have changed a single thing. Landing in front of her and Doodle's house, she was greeted by her dorky husband. He kissed her, and she kissed back. "How was your day?" He asked, smirking as he nuzzled her. Rainbow laughed. "I'm sorry, but a mustache, really?" "What?" He grinned. "I think it makes me look mature." "Pffft!" Rainbow snorted, rolling her eyes and nuzzled her husband. "I don't think a simple mustache can do that." She chuckled, looking back at the house. "Where's our little trouble maker?" "Oh, he's playing with Apple Heart." Doodle replied, nodding toward the upper floor. "Between us, I think your son has a crush on the filly." Rainbow grinned. "Sounds like somepony else I used to know." The two shared another kiss, when suddenly a colt called out. "Mom!" Both of them looked towards the house, and saw a Pegasus colt running towards his mother.  Rainbow smiled, lowering herself so she could embrace her son. "Hey, kiddo!" "Did you kick some tail?!" He asked excitedly. "Please, it's me, your totally awesome mom!" Rainbow grinned, hoof bumping her son. "Yay!" He exclaimed, moving in and hugged his mother tightly. Rainbow smiled gently, hugging her son back, only to then be joined by her husband. Closing her eyes, Rainbow felt a certain amount of peace wash over her. She had a family of her own, and it was like in that moment, their hearts were beating as one. Would Rainbow change anything about her life? No.. She had everything she could possibly want, and it was just perfect. The End.
