The New Trial

Sunset’s POV:

A week after my hostage situation and one therapy session later, I showed those new girls around Canterlot High and knew immediately something was wrong. My friends and I tried to tell my mom and Aunt Celestia and that was when my mom and our relationship went south. This is my new trial now.

“Dark Magic? I find that very hard to believe.” Said Principal Celestia looking out the blinds of her office. “Those girls came to my office earlier and were absolutely delightful.” Principal Celestia continued as she sat down.

It was bad enough that my Aunt Celestia didn’t believe me. I still didn’t fully trust her. Now surely mom was gonna stick up for me.

Mom turned to her sister and then looked at me and said “Huh Perhaps Sunset Shimmer is just eager to make someone else out to be a bad element, so her actions at the Fall Formal would become old news.” It felt like a knife had been stuck in my heart.

“I started to say something when Rainbow jumped in front of me to defend me. But after that my mom went back to just being Luna.

How could someone who took me in, fed me, clothed me, gave me a place to stay, say something like that. Hell Luna protected me from thunderstorms, rocked me on her lap and sat up with me through many nightmares. Now she goes and says that.

That’s why I packed several sets of clothes and left the apartment and headed out, we’ll see what happens when I get to where I am going.

Chrysalis rolled over and looked at the time. Who in their right mind was knocking on her door at 1 a.m. By the third knock Chrysalis threw on her robe and walked over to her door. Looking through the peephole she was horrified by what she saw. Her niece was standing there in a blue shirt that looked like it was over another white one and light blue jeans black boots, and her small leather jacket with an orange stripe on the sleeves.

Chrysalis quickly undid the two locks and opened her front door. Sunset just stood there with an extremely sad look on her face. Sunset looked up at Chrysalis with her blue eyes, which were also red from crying.

“Sunset what in the Sam Hell are you doing here at one in the morning?” Chrysalis asked.

“Aunt Chrysalis can I come in?” Sunset asked voice shaking.

“Sure come on in.” Chrysalis said, stepping aside letting Sunset walk in.

“Now what is going on?” Asked Chrysalis closing the door.

“It’s complicated, how long do you have?” Sunset asked.

“I’ll make some coffee, I have a feeling this is going to be a long night, but start by telling me, why you're here and not at home in bed asleep.” Chrysalis said.

They walked into the kitchen Chrysalis started boiling water, and motioned for Sunset to have a seat.

“Now why are you here, and what is going on?” Asked Chrysalis.

Sunset took a breath and told her about the last two days. The Dazzlings, the school being hypnotized, Twilight’s return, the battle of the bands, and the defeat of the Dazzlings.

“I miss everything.” Chrysalis whined.

“It was what Luna said is the reason I’m here.” Sunset said sadly looking at the floor.

“Sunset, your mom was hypnotized. I’m sure she doesn’t really feel that way.” Chrysalis said, getting a cup of coffee.

“She technically said I was saying someone else was evil hoping everyone would hate them and not me. Aunt Chrysalis I deserved getting beat up, I deserved being locked in my locker, I deserved having food dumped on me.” Sunset lamented.

“Why do you think that hun?”” Chrysalis asked.

“It’s called Karma, and it’s a bitch. Just like me the “bitchbrat”. Sunset replied sadly.

“So this couldn’t wait until a decent hour, why?” Asked Chrysalis.

“I want to stay here, I ran away from home.” Sunset said.

“Oh, Good heavens, Sunset! Luna is going to be frantic. She’s going to have a heart attack!” Chrysalis told her.

“Impossible. She needs to have a heart in order to have the attack.” Sunset remarked.

“Now hold on a sec honey, your mom and aunt were hypnotized by these sirens. It’s not fair to them. I also got to ask a question. This sleepover at Pinkie’s on Friday night, there wasn’t any drinking this time was there?” Chrysalis asked

“No. Just pizza, video games, Pinkie Pie posting on MyStable, Rarity doing her nails, and Twilight trying to figure out a spell to defeat The Dazzlings.” Sunset replied.

“With the exception of the magic spell, that is what 15-16 year old sleepover should be.” Chrysalis said approvingly.

“Hey have we got time to play some video games tonight?” Asked Sunset.

“Sunset it is 1 a.m. Monday morning, we have time for bed, Let’s get you settled, and then I can call Luna.

Tomorrow I will take you to school, and then tomorrow night I am gonna call your mom and Aunt Celestia over. The three of us will have a talk in the kitchen. Then we will talk to you O.K. sweetie?” Chrysalis said. With that Chrysalis put her arm around Sunset and took her to the guest room.

Chrysalis’s guest room was nicely decorated and very clean. Chrysalis turned the bed down and stepped out to give Sunset privacy while she changed into her pajamas.

“Ok Now get some sleep, you have school in the morning.” Chrysalis said.

Sunset was fast asleep almost as soon as she hit the pillow. Chrysalis walked over and tucked Sunset in.

“This girl has gone through so much. Hit by a rainbow laser, being beaten up, constantly being picked on, and a hostage situation. Through it all she has five great friends, who help her and has Luna and her. It’s not fair for a girl who is about to turn 16 to go through all this.” Chrysalis thought.

Chrysalis quickly headed to bed. Set her alarm a little earlier, as she had to drop Sunset off at school. She quickly texted Luna to tell her where Sunset was. Chrysalis never did really go back to sleep, just dozing on and off, until her alarm went off.

Chrysalis was up and quickly dressed. Now to see what Luna was complaining about. She headed over to the guest room. Upon entering she found Sunset sound asleep on her stomach. Chrysalis went over and pulled the covers down and gave Sunset a smack on her butt (not hard).

“C’mon kiddo time for school.” Chrysalis said.

“Can’t you be the cool aunt and let me stay home?” Sunset said putting a pillow over her head.

“Don’t make me get the water bucket.” Chrysalis said.

“You wouldn’t dare.” Said Sunset sitting up. Chrysalis just smiled evilly back at Sunset. Sunset was up and dressed in a flash.

She headed out to the kitchen where Chrysalis was having a cup of coffee. Sunset made herself a cup of coffee. She didn’t usually drink coffee, but after a rough night she needed this coffee. Chrysalis toasted them some bagels.

“Sorry it isn’t more honey, I wasn’t expecting guests.” Chrysalis said.

“It’s ok Aunt Chrysalis.” Sunset trying to wake up.

A few minutes later after breakfast Chrysalis grabbed her keys and Sunset grabbed her bags and headed out to the garage. Chrysalis locked the door and hit the garage door opener. Sunset was standing there with a weird look.

“Are we taking the bike in?” Sunset asked.

“Sunset I have work this morning, so I have to show up looking professional.” Chrysalis told her.

“The bike would be cooler.” Sunset complained.

“ I have a better Idea why don’t you walk to school?” Chrysalis said.

“It’s almost 20 blocks away.” Sunset replied.

“Run fast then.” Chrysalis said jokingly.

“Funny.” Sunset said.

“Then get in the car and I’ll drop you at school.” Chrysalis told her, pointing her away from the Kawasaki Ninja.

After a longer drive to school then normal for Sunset. Chrysalis parked in the student lot, and got out with Sunset. Sunset saw two of her friends on the way in. She said hi to them but Chrysalis wanted to get Sunset to Luna's office.

Chrysalis and Sunset arrived outside of Luna’s office. Chrysalis knocked on the door and from within the office they heard “Enter.”

Chrysalis motioned to Sunset to open the door. Sunset entered with Chrysalis behind her. Sunset walked in and immediately noticed the bags under Luna’s eyes, and that her eyes were red. It tugged at Sunset’s heart strings, that Luna had sat up all night crying, or at least after Chrysalis texted her.

“Luna I want to talk to you and Celestia at my place tonight around 7:30. In the meantime here is someone I think you should excuse from morning classes and talk to. Well at least talk to. I have to get to work.” Chrysalis said, exiting the room.

Sunset slowly went and sat down across the desk from Luna. Luna sat with her head in her hands. Her breathing was deep.

“What, you can’t look at me?” Sunset asked.

Luna's head still in her hands shook her head no.

“Luna, look at me. Huh Perhaps Sunset Shimmer is just eager to make someone else out to be a bad element, so her actions at the Fall Formal would become old news.” Sunset said to Luna.

“Sunset I was hypnotized by Equestrian magic. I miss the old days, when I handled normal problems. With Equestrian magic, I’m out of my element.” Luna said looking up.

“The old days, before I chained you down and destroyed your life.” Sunset stated.

“You never destroyed my life Sunset, you don’t chain me down. You fill a void in my life, you complete my life.” Luna lamented.

“Gilda told me, I completed her too, because I was like a shadowy reflection of her. Do you really think I went back to my old ways and tried to get someone else in trouble, like I did with Twilight? Twilight forgave me for that.” Sunset insisted.

“You are nothing like Gilda, your my daughter…” Luna began.

“You’re not my mother, so take those adoption papers and shove ’em Luna. Shove ‘em hard.” Sunset said.

Luna started crying. Sunset realized then and there she went too far.

“Luna I…”Sunset began.

“S-Sunset go aw-away.” Luna sobbed out. Luna sat there her head in her hands leaning forward quietly sobbing. It felt like her whole world had blown up around her. Because of being charmed/hypnotized Luna realized may have lost her daughter.

Sunset walked in a daze the rest of the day. In first period Applejack noticed Sunset was in another world. Thank goodness Ms. Cheerilee didn’t call on her. At lunch her friends finally got her to tell them what was going on.

“But Sunny, I thought you and Luna were doing good.” Pinkie said.

“Yes, you said you were happy living there, and Luna treated you good, plus you still need to make your tour and help each one of us out on a Saturday.” Rarity reminded her.

“I helped you all last Saturday, and the students seem to be a little but nicer and more accepting.” Sunset observed.

“Um sugercube, listen you ever have another fight with Luna, and need a place to stay, there is always a bed for you at the Apple place, we can always make room for a guest.” Applejack told her.

“Guys I feel terrible, I don’t know what to do.” Sunset said.

“Well 7th period you have study hall, ask to go to the office and apologize to Vice Principal Luna.” Fluttershy said.

“She needs to apologize to you too, Sunset.” Rainbow Dash said.

“Listen after school, go and talk to her at home. It’s the best thing for you both.” Rarity added.

“Guys after school I’m gonna walk back to Aunt Chrysalis’s place. All my stuff is there, that’s where I am staying.” Sunset told them.

“I don’t mean to pry, sugercube but whar does she live?” Applejack asked.

“About twenty blocks away.” Sunset replied.

“You are gonna walk twenty blocks, are you outta yer mind?” Applejack asked stunned.

“Yeah I am, why?” Replied Sunset.

“Well maybe Big Mac can give ya a lift in his truck.” Applejack offered.

“I don’t want to cause trouble, I seem to do that all the time as it is.” Sunset said sadly.

“Relax I got this. Just trust me.” Applejack said.

“Fine.” Sunset relented.

A few hours later...

The final bell had rung and Sunset got her books together and didn’t even stop in Luna’s office, she just left with Applejack and Big Mac. Applebloom came up to Applejack and looked at Sunset.

“Why is Sunset coming home with us?” She asked.

“Well Applebloom, we are dropping her off, where she is staying at.” Applejack told her.

Big Mac you agreed to that?” Applebloom asked.

“Eeyupp.” Replied Big Mac.

Sunset privately wondered if Big Mac ever said anything other than Eeyupp and Nope. She figured he was probably really shy. Sunset had to admit he was cute, but you don’t date your BFB (Best Friend’s Brother).

Big Mac got in the dirver's seat and started up his pickup and Applejack hopped up in the back and extended her hand to Sunset. Sunset took it and climbed up in the back. Applebloom who usually rode in the back got up in the passenger seat.

Sunset opened the back window in the pickup truck and told Big Mac how to get to Chrysalis’s place.

“Think you got it?” Sunset asked.

“Eeyupp.” Big Mac replied.

The ride home was uneventful and quiet, Sunset was lost in thought. The Dazzlings had screwed things up, but did they show Luna's true nature?

In Luna’s office…

Luna was heartbroken as she looked out the blinds, seeing Sunset go with the Apples then spending time with her after school. She was on the phone with Chrysalis.

“Chrysalis she thinks she destroyed my life. Damn those Dazzlings.” Luna complained to Chrysalis.

“Listen you , Celestia come to my house tonight about 7:30 and we will discuss this. In the meantime Luna, I have to get back to work. I’ll talk with you tonight.” Chrysalis said to Luna hanging up.

Chrysalis leaned back in her chair and rubbed her face. She was exhausted and still had to figure out what to do with Sunset, as she figured she needed to feed her dinner. Chrysalis figured she would wait until she got home and maybe order out.

Chrysalis phone rang again. She looked down and saw it was Sunset. She took a deep breath and answered the phone.

“Hi Sunset.” Chrysalis said, answering.

“Where is your spare key?” She asked after being dropped off by the Apple family.

“In the potted plant next to the door. Listen Sunset I will be home in about an hour, hour and half max. I want to start your homework. I mean it young lady. If you get done before I get home. Then you can play Video games, or if you want to wait on that feel free to watch TV. If you can’t find anything on TV I also got Netflix.

You can find soda in the fridge and snacks in the pantry. Now what do you want for dinner?” Chrysalis asked.

“Anything vegetarian.” Sunset said.

“Got it, vegan. OK I got to go, I’ll see you when I get home.” Chrysalis said, and then hung up.

Sunset let herself in the house and set up on the kitchen table and after getting a soda Sunset started her homework. After about an hour she was done. Sunset went in and crashed on the couch.

Around half an hour later Chrysalis came home and saw Sunset passed out on the couch. Chrysalis quickly went into the kitchen leaving Sunset to sleep in the living room. She quickly started to cook some spaghetti, she cooked a few meatballs for herself. As well as cooking some sauce. When everything was ready she laid the plates out and some cut up French bread and butter and then went out to the living room.

An evil smile came across Chrysalis’s face. She turned on her phone and went to YouTube and found the video then after making sure the video was on max Volume she hit play after putting it near the couch. All of a sudden a bugle reveille played on the phone.

Sunset almost fell off the couch and got to her feet as Chrysalis shut off the phone. Then she glared at Chrysalis. After a second Chrysalis started laughing.

“What the hell Aunt Chrysalis?” Sunset asked.

“Hey we were woken up every morning at 4 a.m. like that the lights would come on and your feet better be on the floor. If not the Drill Instructor flipped your mattress.”

“Well I’m not in boot camp. It wasn’t funny.” Sunset snapped back.

“Well come on Ms. Grouchy pants dinner is ready.” Chrysalis said. Sunset followed her into the kitchen. She was shocked by a big plate of Spaghetti and French bread with butter. Sunset was going to ask about the meatballs but Chrysalis put her hand up.

“It’s ok I like meatballs with my spaghetti, not to worry Sunset I respect your vegan wishes. Now eat up we got to clean up, form dinner. Did you do your homework? Chrysalis both told and asked her.

“Yes I did my homework.” Sunset replied.

“Ok well at 7:30 tonight your mom and Aunt Celestia are coming over and the three of us are going to have a palaver in the kitchen.”

“What’s a palaver?” Sunset asked.

“Basically it’s a long discussion. Simply put we're gonna have a serious talk.” Chrysalis told her.

“What am I supposed to do?” Sunset asked.

“Welcome to 1985, you're going to learn and play the Original NES games.” Chrysalis told her.

“NES?” Asked Sunset

“Nintendo Entertainment System. The biggest Video Game library in history. At least I think it is.” Chrysalis smiled.

Sunset shot up and immediately put her plate and silverware in the dishwasher. She started to pack up the leftovers and put stuff in the dishwasher, Chrysalis was impressed.

“Okay kiddo head out the living room and I will hook up the Super Genintari, go over controls then whatever you want to play you can have fun with until we call you in the kitchen.” Chrysalis told her.

After a short explanation, Chrysalis set Sunset up with the flagship game Super Mario Bros. For the next two hours Sunset played several different games. She really liked playing several of them. She did well at Burgertime. Actually Sunset did well at all the games. Chrysalis could see she was a girl gamer.

At 7:30 the doorbell rang. Sunset’s stomach dropped to her knees. She paused the game and went over and shut off the system and laid on the couch. Sunset felt uncomfortable with Luna and Celestia. The problem is they just walked in the door.

Chrysalis sat down with Luna and Celestia in her kitchen. “Now then, what shall we talk about?” Chrysalis asked.

Chrysalis sat down in her kitchen, motioning to Luna and Celestia to have a seat.

“Now then, what shall we talk about?” Chrysalis asked.

“You invited us over, I thought you had it figured out.” Celestia said.

Luna said nothing just sat there, all she felt was sadness and loneliness. All day long she had her head in a fog, just gone through the motions of being a vice principal. All she could think about was Sunset and how, twice she almost lost her to a monster that was in a maximum-security prison. Now she lost her because she was the monster.

“Luna? Luna are you with us?” Chrysalis asked.

“Yeah I’m here.” Luna said without any emotion sounding almost like Pinkie Pie’s sister Maud. Her mind was on the 15 year old out in the living room.

“Luna, you need to focus, we need to make a decision here.”

“I made my decision. Sunset hates me now. The portal is open and she can go back to Equestria anytime she wants. My lease is up at the end of the year, I’m not renewing my lease. I will turn in my resignation tomorrow to you sister and pack up and move to Appaloosa. Apple Cinnamon said he can get me a teaching job out there.” Luna told them without any emotion.

Both Celestia and Chrysalis sat stunned for a second before Chrysalis spoke up.

“I must have misheard you. It sounded like you said…” Chrysalis began when Luna cut her off.

“You didn’t misunderstand me, I’m leaving. Sunset can return to her home and everyone is happy.” Luna said, staring at the table.

“I wouldn’t be happy, Celestia wouldn’t be happy. You think Sunset is going to be happy. Luna she thinks, that you think she hasn’t changed when in reality she has done a complete turnaround. What makes you think you’d be happy out there you don’t know anyone out there.” Chrys told her.

“I know Apple Cinnamon.” Luna said.

“You wouldn’t be happy, you would be too worried about Sunset.” Celestia said.

“Just like my miscarriage I would get over it.” Luna said.

“How? Like last time, by cutting, and smoking weed.” Celestia said.

“I pulled myself up from the ground and went to college, had student loans, and did odd jobs for all my school supplies. Yes even twirling around on a stripper pole.” Luna said.

“Before Sunset, Luna, what did you do at your apartment?” asked Chrysalis.

“I sat there on the couch, ate takeout and watched the news. I would watch a movie, sometimes with a pint of ice cream if it was a romantic movie. Read comic books, and overall went to bed at 7:30 and would just lay there and hold my pillow, and pretend I had a reason to get up the next morning.” Luna said remembering her life.

“Why didn’t you come to me?” Celestia said.

“You had your own life.” Luna said.

“You sat there in that apartment alone, everyday except when we would get together for Thanksgiving and Christmas. You wouldn’t even spend New Year’s with me.” Celestia said.

“I know.” Said Luna.

“Now do you want to go back to that Luna?” Asked Chrysalis leaning across the table.

Luna sat there with her head bowed deep in thought, knowing full well what she wanted. She wanted Sunset back at her apartment. But she thought this might be good practice for when Sunset left for college

“Luna?” Chrysalis pushed.

“I want Sunset at the apartment, but was also thinking that she is gonna leave for college one day then I’ll be back to square one.” Luna said.

“Well enjoy what time you got, but you and Sunset need to kiss and make up, and take her to her own home.” Chrysalis said.

“Has she been a problem here?” Luna inquired.

“No, not really, other than showing up at 1 a.m. I could have done without that.” Chrysalis said.

Luna just sat there, head hung low. She knew Chrysalis was right, Sunset had to come home and Luna and her needed to apologize to each other. The big question was whether Sunset going to accept Luna’s apology or not.

“Why don’t you go get Sunset, I’ll try to apologize to her. Whether she accepts it or not is another thing.” Luna said with her head in her hands.

Chrysalis walked out to the couch where Sunset had dozed off. She looked at her sleeping, peacefully it seemed. Chrysalis walked around and sat down on the couch and stroked Sunset’s hair a little bit. Then putting her hand on Sunset’s shoulder she gave her a gentle shake.

“C’mon, honey wake up. Someone is here to see you.” Chrysalis said gently.

“I don’t want to go to school today.” Sunset moaned half asleep.

“Sunset, Luna is here.” Chrysalis said.

“I missed the part where that’s my problem.” Sunset said fully awake now.

“I’m gonna make it a huge problem for you in a second .” Chrysalis said.

“Fine.” Sunset said sitting up. Slowly rising to her feet, she followed Chrysalis into the kitchen.

Upon entering the kitchen she saw Luna, sitting there with her head in her hands, and Celestia standing beside her. She could tell Luna was a bundle of nerves and misery. This was not gonna be easy.

“Why don’t we leave them alone so they can talk.” Said Chrysalis motioning to Celestia to follow her, out on to the front doorstep. After both of them left the house, Sunset went and sat down next to Luna.

Luna was still holding her head in her hands. Sunset gently touched her and rubbed her arm. Luna looked over at Sunset with bloodshot eyes. Both just looked at each other for about 10 secs.

“Huh Perhaps Sunset Shimmer is just eager to make someone else out to be a bad element, so her actions at the Fall Formal would become old news.” Sunset said.

Luna almost burst into tears again. How could Sunset a girl she loved as her own daughter start with that. Was she going to use this against her forever? Finally just as Luna was going to say something, Sunset said something else.

“I tried to warn you about The Dazzlings, and you just blew me off.” Sunset told her.

“I was under their spell, I was not in control of my actions.” Luna lamented.

“In any other circumstances, I might believe that. But you forget I grew up in a world where magic was a common everyday thing. I spent YEARS studying magic before I came here. One thing I studied was mental suggestion and mind control. What the Dazzlings did was merely ensured your loyalty to them and that you would carry out their orders. How you did it was all up to you.” Sunset told Luna. With that Sunset stormed out of the kitchen.

Meanwhile Chrysalis and Celestia came inside as it was getting close to winter. The nights were getting colder and it was too cold to stay out for long. Chrysalis and Celestia decided the living room couch would be more comfortable.

They figured by now they would hear talking coming from the kitchen. What they saw was Sunset storm out of the kitchen and out the front door. What they heard in the kitchen Luna sobbing uncontrollably.

Chrysalis and Celestia went flying into the kitchen. Luna was laying with her head on her arms on the table just sobbing uncontrollably. Celestia just rubbed Luna’s back.

“Luna what the hell happened?” Asked Chrysalis.

“Sh-She w-won’t even for-forgive me. She h-hardly let m-me talk.” Luna sobbed.

“That is it!” Declared Chrysalis. She stormed out the door to find Sunset..

She found her outside leaning up against the garage door.

“Sunset, you'll freeze out here!! Now go in there and apologize to Luna.” Chrysalis commanded her.

“Don’t talk to me like that. I’m not one of you subordinates.” Sunset shot back.

“Little girl you are one step away from me taking you over my knee.” Chrysalis threatened.

“I’ll scream for Luna, she won’t let you hit me.” Sunset said smugly.

“You can be such a brat. Oh everyone feel sorry for me. Until I don’t get my way then I have a temper tantrum.” Chrysalis mocked her.

“How dare you mock me.” Sunset growled.

“What was it you said ‘I can speak to anyone, anyway I want’ remember?” Chrysalis said, reminding Sunset of her former self.

“Don’t you dare, throw that in my face.” Sunset snarled back.

“No but you can go and throw a little mistake in Luna’s face, every chance you get. Now I will give you two options, you can march your happy little butt in there and sit and talk to Luna. Option two is if you are still gonna be a little brat, you and I can talk first, then you can stand up talking to Luna. Get it?” Chrysalis said.

“Option number one sounds better to me.” Sunset replied.

“I thought it would, now go in there and talk this out with her.” Chrysalis said pointing at the front door.

Sunset opened the door and turned left into the kitchen. She knew it was gonna take more then I’m sorry but, maybe she should listen to Luna. Sunset sat down next to Luna and looked at her actually having cried herself to sleep there on the table.

Sunset slightly rubbed Luna’s arm. Luna sat up and looked at Sunset.

“Here to hurt me more?” Luna said.

“No, I am here to apologize. I should listen to what you have to say, but just let me say one thing, then you can let loose one me. I have never had a stable home, or parents that gave a flying feather about me. Then you came along but when you said what you said in the office it was like you thought I hadn’t changed. It felt like Equestria all over again.” Sunset told her.

“I changed that night you came out and handed me a trowel to start laying bricks after the Formal.” Sunset said.

“Sunset I love you with all my heart. If you have a problem you can come to me. The last thing you should do is leave at one in the morning. Now I am glad you thought to come here. I end up finding out by a phone call from Chrysalis and a note taped to your door. I cried all night, but thought you needed a night to yourself, so I let you stay here. Then you have treated me like complete crap since then. Sunset I was under The Dazzlings spell I wasn’t thinking right.” Luna told her.

Sunset just looked at the floor. Then looked up at Luna’s sad red eyes. She could feel her heart melt a little bit.

“Sunset I can only say I’m sorry so many times.” Luna pleaded.

“Well say it again anyway.” Sunset said.

“I’m sorry. I don’t know how to make it up to you, I really don’t.” Luna replied.

“You can make it up to me, by believing in me. I have changed.” Sunset told her.

“Sunset I know that, I saw that when a meek, shy little Sunset asked me for a pair of pajamas. I saw it when she shyly asked to sleep next to me because of the thunderstorm that was coming that night. I saw it in how you persevered through all the bullying school with the help of the Rainbooms.

I have seen it when you and I had a nice vegetable lasagna dinner one night. I also saw it when you went all out for my birthday. Sunset I have seen a new you that has changed every time I look at you.” Luna said.

“Luna it is gonna take me a while before I call you mom again.” Sunset said looking down.

“I know Sunset, I’ll hold off on sending in the adoption papers. I want to regain your trust. I know it is gonna be an uphill battle for me. But I will try every day to get the bond back we had.” Luna said.

Sunset smiled weakly then spoke up “I’m ready to go home.”

“Sunset I am too. I am too.” Luna replied. After that Luna and Sunset stood and embraced in a big hug.

Coming out of the kitchen Chrysalis and Celestia stood up. Luna tossed Sunset her keys. “Here hun go warm up the car.”

“O.k. but first.” Sunset went over and hugged Chrysalis and even halfheartedly hugged Celestia.

“Good night Aunts.” Then Sunset ran out to turn the car on.

“Everything go, ok?” Chrysalis asked Luna.

“Oh wonderful. Now I’m one on trial.” Luna replied and walked out the door.

Canterlot State Prison:

A top level security prison. The inmates get very little news from the outside but one did hear about the gas explosion at Canterlot High. She also heard the rumors that a she-demon did the damage and was determined to get answers. Finally she saw her chance.

Several of the inmates were walking down the main hallway as they were headed out to the yard for recreation. Among them was Gilda Griffon. All of a sudden Gilda got stopped in the hallway by an old acquaintance Greta.

“Look who it is. What are the odds you and I would end up at the same summer camp?”

Gilda noticed a tattoo on Greta’s neck, looked like a small devil.

“Relax. This it’s not on you.” Greta said pointing to the tattoo. “It’s on our little she-demon friend. I got some people on the outside who would love to meet her. You know take a picture, slice her throat, put her head in the dryer, and I heard a rumor...you know who she is.” Greta finished.

Gilda paused for a second and then snorted lightly and smiled and replied to Greta. “If I knew who she was, she’d already be dead.”

After a few seconds a guard called out. “Gilda you got visitors.” Gilda side stepped Greta and walked away with a smug confident look on her face.

Tuesday morning the girls met at the horse statue in front of the school, as they did every morning. Applejack got there first as usual. Being an Apple she was up with the sun every day except on Sunday.

Shortly after other girls started arriving, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, and Rainbow Dash all arrived next in that order.

Thunderlane pulled up in his Ford F-150 Pickup Truck. After he got out of the driver's side he walked around and opened the other side to let Rarity out. He took her hand and helped her down out of the truck. Rarity gave him a quick kiss. It didn’t seem like the kind of vehicle Rarity would ride in, but when it came to Thunderlane she didn’t seem to care.

Rarity walked over to the statue where the girls met.

“Wow and you talk about Flash being a smitten kitten.” Rainbow Dash teased.

“Well one day when you get a girlfriend you’ll understand.” Rarity teased back. Rainbow immediately looked disgusted at Rarity’s comment, while Applejack and Pinkie Pie giggled slightly.

“Maybe you thought I was on the other side of the street and I’m not.” Rainbow replied back a little annoyed at Rarity.

“You know Dash, you can say the words homosexual or gay and it won’t make you burst into flames.” Sunset said walking up to join her friends.

“Hiya Sunny!!” Pinkie exclaimed, giving Sunset a hug.

“Hi Pinkie.” Sunset said hugging Pinkie back. I am dreading this day.” Sunset said sliding down and putting her head down on her knees.

“Why is that?” Fluttershy asked quietly.

“Well Saturday we won the battle of the bands. Thanks to Twilight and Equestrian magic. Who knows what they are going to do to me now.” Sunset lamented.

“Sugarcube, did you talk to your mom about how you feel?” Applejack asked her.

“No, Luna and I are barely talking right now.” Sunset remarked.

Ooo Ooo, is that because of her comment, to you on Friday the day before the battle of the bands?” Pinkie asked.

“Right on the money Pinks.” Sunset replied.

“Pinks?” Pinkie Pie questioned.

“You call me Sunny, so I called you Pinks.” Sunset explained.

“If you don’t like being called Sunny just say so silly.” Pinkie told her.

“No don’t take it the wrong way, I thought we were doing nicknames.” Sunset said holding her hands up being defensive.

“Sunset it’s ok. I’m not mad. Just relax.” Pinkie said, taking Sunset’s hands and putting them down at her sides.

“Darling’s it’s getting chilly why don’t we head in and hit the music room for a few before heading to our classes.” Rarity said.

“I’m with Rarity, it’s bad enough I have to do gym first period and freeze my butt off, I don’t want to have to sit out here more than needed.” Rainbow Dash said.

The six girls headed to the music room. All of them were either sitting or standing around, when Sunset decided it was time to start talking about her tour.

“Ok last time I tried to start my good will tour I had to cancel with the Cakes at Sugarcube Corners. I wanna try to start this especially as winter is almost upon us. Applejack is there anything that needs to get done on the farm this weekend?” Sunset asked.

“Well we have to get the last of the apples undercover in the barn for the winter. After all, we will need to sell them durin’ the winter months. If you want to help, Granny Smith and Big Mac will love the assistance.” Applejack said.

“Pinkie, what about the cakes?” Sunset asked.

“Well they run the Sweet Shop here in Canterlot and are married…”Pinkie began.

“No I mean are they still willing to let me do a volunteer shift there one Saturday morning into the afternoon?” Sunset asked.

“Of course silly, Mrs. Cake understood. I would like the help, it’s so crazy on the weekends.” Pinkie told her.

“Now guys there is one question that I would like to know. Which one of you contacted the police, to let them know I had been kidnapped?” Sunset asked.

“Darling none of us knew anything about that.” Rarity told her. The other girls all nodded in agreement.

“Sunset if I knew I would have rushed over there.” Rainbow Dash said agreeing with Rarity.

“How would you have gotten anywhere near the place Sugarcube?” Applejack asked.

“So nobody here contacted the police?” Sunset asked. Everyone shook their heads no.

“That point aside Rainbow I was wondering if you could teach me some self defense?” Sunset asked.

“Ok but it will take several hours and several days over winter break, if you’re willing I will teach you some.” Rainbow replied.

“Um guys we might want to get to our lockers, and Rainbow to the gym.” Fluttershy quietly mentioned.

“She’s right catch ya later.” Rainbow said.

“C’mon Sunset we got science first, we should get our stuff.” Applejack said. Slowly the girls parted ways for the morning.

It was mid morning Celestia was going to talk to Luna. Upon entering her office Luna looked up from her paperwork, to see her sister enter the office.

“Morning sister, what brings you down here today?” Luna said briefly looking up from her work.

“I’m worried about you and Sunset for one. Another one is you left school early a few times with Sunset. I understand with the lunchroom incident and those idiots dumped food and garbage on her. Then other incidents like Scores deciding to be funny, and tripping her you left over that. Luna you can’t take Sunset home over every incident.” Celestia said.

“I know.” Luna said her face in her hands

“Now we need to put this battle of bands behind us, and look towards winter break.” Celestia said.

“I wish I knew what to do with Sunset. She talks to me but it’s like one or two words. For example I tried to talk to her at breakfast and I got maybe four words.” Luna complained.

“Luna you need to put your foot down. You always let this girl walk all over you. I understand that she has had a hard life, and yes that makes me sad too, but also she acts like a spoiled brat.” Celestia told her.

“Chrysalis, says I should take her over my knee and beat some manners into her.” Luna said, leaning back in her chair.

“Luna, that is how she was raised, one rude word to her parents and the roof would hit her. I know you don’t want to raise a hand to Sunset.” Celestia replied.

“Celestia, I don’t know how to do this. I’m out of my element here.” Luna told her. Luna looked at Celestia, with sadness and almost pleading for help.

“Luna, anything I say from an outsider. I have no experience here. All I can tell you is you have to put the pieces together as you go, kind of feel your way through it.” Celestia replied back. She stood there with her arms crossed looking at her sister who had been a bundle of misery lately.

“I’m not giving up, I’m requesting that Sunset have lunch with me and we are going to work this out.” Luna said confidently.

Sunset was heading towards her locker with Fluttershy and Rainbow when they passed by Luna’s office. Luna was standing outside her office with her arms crossed. She looked right at Sunset and motioned for Sunset to come over to her.

“Luna.” Sunset said.

Luna opened the door and pointed to the office. Sunset looked over at her friends and said to them “Go ahead I’ll catch up with you.”

Once inside Luna went and sat down and then looked at Sunset. Sunset was standing there looking at Luna like what is going on.

“Please sit down.” Luna said.

“Luna I got lunch this period, it’s the only time I can hang with the girls.” Sunset said, taking a seat.

“You’ll be having lunch with me today.” Luna said.

“Why, what did I do?” Said Sunset being smart.

“Because we are going to have a little talk, you and me even though you won’t talk to me at all.” Luna said.

“Fine.” Sunset Shimmer said leaning back in her chair crossing her arms.

“Oh little miss never did anything wrong. Did you not manipulate this entire school? Applejack held a bake sale and Rainbow Dash brought the entire softball team to help promote it. Well someone told Rainbow Dash the bake sale had been moved to a different day. Her and the softball team show up and no one is there. Applejack had the bake sale on the original day and thought Rainbow Dash stood her up. Rainbow Dash thought Applejack cancelled on her. It caused a riff in their friendship. Do you know who that was that did that?” Luna asked.

Sunset sat in the chair looking like she was going to cry. Luna had hit her hard with how she broke up Applejack and Rainbow’s friendship. The sad part is Sunset still carried guilt over that incident. It really hit her hard, harder than the elements of Harmony.

“I still feel guilty about that. I should have died in that crater. I am bullshit.” Sunset said, looking at the floor starting to cry.

“Sunset stop talking like that.” Luna warned.

“WELL IT’S TRUE ISN’T IT. IF I WAS DEAD YOU GO TO APPALOOSA. IF I WAS DEAD YOU AND CHRYSALIS WOULDN’T BE FIGHTING, AND THE GIRLS WOULDN’T FEEL OBLIGATED TO BE MY FRIENDS!!” Sunset yelled.

“SUNSET SHIMMER sit down and calm down. I love you and do you know much, it hurts me to hear you say that? Now stop saying that crap. I am sick and tired of it!” Luna yelled back.

Luna sat down in her chair and just sobbed her head in her hands. She also shook her head while crying. Luna was at her breaking point.

“I can’t do this with you anymore. OK you win Sunset. I’ll turn in my resignation tomorrow, pack up my stuff and move to Appaloosa. You can go do whatever you want. I wash my hands of you. Are you happy now? Is that what you want?” Luna sobbed.

“Your friends are not obligated to be your friends, they are your friends because they want to be. Not because of what Twilight said to them. As soon as Twilight left they came over and extended a hand in friendship.” Luna continued on.

“Yeah I screamed at them to get away from me.” Sunset remarked.

“You had been traumatized.” Luna explained.

“Luna, why do you and I fight so much?” Asked Sunset.

“They say the more two people fight, the more they care about each other.” Luna said walking over and putting her arm around Sunset.

“Honey I can’t take back what I said, I wasn’t thinking clearly. Still you can’t keep punishing me for it too.” Luna said.

“Luna I don’t want to fight anymore. I’m exhausted. I want to inhale my lunch and go home today.” Sunset said.

“Well I’ll give you time to eat, and make sure you’re not in trouble for going to class late. But we can’t head home until classes are over.” Luna said.

Lunch was spent chit chatting and reconnecting. Even though Sunset didn’t need to eat lunch with Luna it was a nice change. After her meal Sunset thanked Luna for everything then said the words Luna wanted to hear.

“Luna come here for a second.” Sunset said as she was leaving. Luna got up and walked over to stand next to Sunset. Sunset all of a sudden launched herself into Luna with a huge hug. Luna was caught off guard but after a second returned the hug.

“I love and forgive you...mom.” Sunset said holding onto Luna.

Luna couldn’t help but shed a few tears. ”I love you too daughter.”

Sunset looked at Luna with a smile on her face. She said to Luna “When we get home you better finish those adoption papers and send them in.”

“Will do, now get your butt to class young lady.” Luna said smiling. With that Sunset headed off to class feeling like everything was right in the world again. At least it seemed that way.

Twilight’s Castle, Equestria:

“Are you sure Twilight?’ Spike asked looking at Twilight after hearing her theory.

“Well you were there. You saw it like I did. Sunset “ponied up”. This proves that my second theory was true.” Twilight said.

“Well that’s great, right?” Spike asked.

“Yes it is, and Sunset is gonna be thrilled to hear it.” Twilight said.

After the last class of the day Rarity showed up at Sunset’s locker as she was gathering her books and laptop.

“Sunset I moved by sowing shop up into my room, but I need your help.” Rarity said.

“Fabrics and sowing is your thing, not mine.” Sunset replied, walking towards Luna’s office.

“Sunset Darling, why are you going to Luna’s office? Did you two make up?” Rarity asked.

“Yes during a screaming and shouting match at lunch.” Sunset said with a big smile on her face.

“Don’t you think, there are better ways to make amends with Luna than having a screaming match with her? “ Rarity asked.

“We needed to let it all out and have a knock down drag out affair. Trust me we are doing great now. Anyway what do you need, Luna and I have an appointment to get too. I’m not trying to blow you off, I just need to go.” Sunset said.

“Well I just got a laptop at home, camera on it and everything. I was wondering if you could set it up, you seem to know about computers.” Rarity asked.

“Rarity just turn on the laptop and the computer helps you set up everything. You don’t need someone to come in and set up everything.” Sunset told her.

“I’m scared.” Rarity confided in her.

“Scared?! Of what?!” Asked Sunset.

“Well I never do well with technology.” Rarity replied.

“Turn the laptop on, it will guide you.” Sunset reassured her, putting a hand on Rarity's shoulder.

“O.K.” Rarity said defeatedly. With her head hung low.

“Don’t be such a drama queen, it will be ok.” Sunset again tried to reassure her.

At that point Thunderlane came up behind Rarity and put his arms around her waist. She just tilted her head back and Thunderlane leaned down and gave Rarity a quick kiss.

“Well I’ll see you later.” Sunset said feeling awkward.

Sunset came to Luna's office a minute later. Luna was putting her coat on.

“Ah there you are Sunset, you ready to go?” Luna asked.

“If you are.” Sunset replied.

Luna grabbed her purse and took her keys out and walked with Sunset.

Sunset felt weird but after her hostage situation and being in the middle of a firefight Chrysalis suggested she do a few therapy sessions. This one she was looking forward too though.

Sunset walked into the therapist office with Luna who signed her in and then a minute later the door opened up and in walked Trixie with her mom. This was the one session the girls were doing together.

Sunset and Trixie walked into the therapist office together. The therapist office had a huge bookshelf on one wall, the therapists desk and two chairs on the other side of the desk. There was a big window on the right side of the office. The left wall just had pictures.

“Sunset, Trixie go in and have a seat. I'll be there in a minute.” The Therapist told them.

Sunset and Trixie both sat down.

“Sunset before the therapist comes in. The completely apologetic Trixie has to apologize for trapping you under the stage. The Sirens had me all mixed up and they planted the idea in my mind to trap your band. They hypnotized the entire school. I was under their spell, I was not in control of my actions.” Trixie said apologetically.

“In any other circumstances, I might believe that. But you forget I grew up in a world where magic was commonplace. I spent YEARS studying magic before I came here. One thing I studied was mind control and mental suggestion. The Dazzlings merely ensured your loyalty to them and that you would carry out their orders. How you went about it was all you.” Sunset told Trixie.

“Well it was my bandmate Fuschia Blush who pulled the lever. That wasn’t me.” Trixie replied back.

“While I am a little mad at Fuschia, you’re the one who gave the order to pull the lever. Trixie I was wrong, I thought we were friends. I guess I was wrong. I was gonna invite you to my birthday party that Pinkie and Rarity insist I have. Now I don’t know.” Sunset said.

“Sunset please the great and apologetic Trixie…” Trixie began.

“Is a real pompous ass.” Sunset finished her sentence.

Trixie’s face fell. She had tried to apologize to Sunset yet Sunset wouldn’t accept it.

“Sunset I’m trying to say sorry. I tried to stop the beat down, got you out of your locker. Warned you about Gilda, and untied you in the warehouse. I even kept her from escaping. The great and powerful Trixie…” Trixie rambled on.

“...Set up my beating to where I was unconscious, gave Gilda my address, and then took the stage out from under us.” Sunset finished her sentence.

Both of the girls stopped talking when the therapist walked in.

“Now then young ladies, why don’t we get down to business.” He said walking in the room. Then the therapist noticed the tension in the room. She decided to address the noticed tension before anything else.

“OK I sense tension here let’s address that first.” he said.

“There you go.” Sweetie Belle said, finishing Rarity’s laptop setup.

“Sweetie Belle dear, thank you so much.” Rarity said.

“I can’t believe you fix Sunset’s jacket, and she wouldn’t set up your laptop for you.” Sweetie Belle remarked.

“Well I could have waited a day, but you offered to do it. Sunset said she had an appointment to get to. You know she might be going to the dentist, or shopping, or whatever. Sweetie Belle you should be nicer to Sunset, she’s one of my friends.” Rarity told her.

“Look at what her and Twilight have done to you and your friends, pony ears, your hair extends out like a tail, hell Rainbow Dash, and Fluttershy they grow wings. Rarity it’s not normal, they turned you into freaks!” Sweetie Belle cried.

“It’s magic from that other world Equestria it has an effect on some people, it means I’m special.” Rarity explained.

“It means you're a freak!! I want the old Rarity back, the one who didn’t grow ears and a tail, the one before alien ponies invaded our world and cursed you!!” Sweetie Belle cried and ran out of the room. She ran into her room crying, slamming her door.

“Is everything ok up there?” Cookie Crumbles called upstairs.

“Yes mom, just a lil disagreement among sisters.” Rarity said from the top of the stairs.

Sunset and Trixie walked out from the therapist's office. Some of the tension had disappeared. Trixie and Sunset agreed to work towards an understanding and try to get along better.

“Um Sunset is that offer to come to your birthday party still open?” Trixie asked quietly and a little embarrassed.

“Yes it is, I would like you to attend my 16th birthday party right after New Year’s.” Sunset stated

“The great and powerful Trixie accepts.” Trixie declared her one hand in the air. After that both Trixie and Sunset shared a quick laugh and a quick hug hug and with their mom’s parted ways for the day.

“It’s great to see you and Trixie getting along again.” Luna said to Sunset.

“Well mom it’s still on shaky ground but we are definitely building a firm base.” Sunset told her.

“That is an interesting way to look at it.” Luna said.

“Only way I could think to describe it.” Sunset replied.

“I’m proud of you for inviting her to your birthday party. So when is the first sleepover?” Luna asked.

“Mom let’s not rush things, but I might invite Trixie over to just hang out first.” Sunset replied.

“That’s fine just let me know when, I want you to clean your room first, you don’t want Trixie seeing that mess do you.

“My room is ok, I just never make the bed but I’ll talk to Trixie tomorrow at school.” Sunset replied.

Arriving back at the apartment Sunset texted Rarity:

Rarity,

Sorry I had to bail on you today but I had an appointment to keep with my therapist. I will help you with setting up your laptop tomorrow if you want. Hit me back.

Sunset Shimmer

Sunset put her phone down and just relaxed for a few minutes for once everything seemed right in the world.

All of her aunts were getting along, and she had a great relationship with Chrysalis. Not so much with Celestia.

Her and Luna were working towards a mother/daughter relationship. While she wasn’t completely sure about it, she was feeling better about calling Luna mom.

She was about to begin her good will tour. Helping on the farm, the animal shelter, the sweet shop, bringing equipment out for the volleyball team, as well as helping Rarity with setting up the laptop. Just then her phone buzzed.

Sunset,

It’s ok, you don’t have to worry about it. Sweetie Belle set the laptop up for me. Then we had a big fight. Go figure. See you in school tomorrow.

Rarity

Great. Now I have to figure something else out to help Rarity. I want to check out the laptop though. Well I guess I should do my homework. Sunset thought.

Meanwhile, Sweetie Belle was on FaceTime with Applebloom and Scootaloo.
“Yeah it was great I beat Sunset too it, and now Rarity is gonna question her
Friendship with Sunset. It is great.” Sweetie belle said.

“Why?” asked Scootaloo.

“Ah thought Sunset was changin’. Why in tarnation is this a good thing?” Apple Bloom asked.

“Do you guys see how much time our sisters are spending with her? Two sleepovers at Pinkie Pie’s.” Sweetie said.

“You know I just realized something. They all hang out at the Canterlot horse statue or in the music room in the morning. They don’t want to be seen with their “little” sisters. Scootaloo said making quotation marks with her hands around the word little.

“Ah reckon ya’ll right about this, but do you really think they don’t want us around?” Apple Bloom asked.

“Maybe at home they do, but the main thing is now they turned our sisters into freaks, pony ears, their hair long enough to be considered tails. Scoots, your honorary sisters even grows wings for crying out loud.” Sweetie Belle.

Both Applebloom and Sweetie Belle shifted uncomfortably in their seats.

“Ah think your right Sweetie we should do somethin’ but what?” Asked Apple Bloom

“Girls, let's meet tomorrow and try to figure out what we should do.” Scootaloo said

“Scoots is right, it’s too late to do much now.” Apple Bloom said.

“Okay then good night you two.” Sweetie Belle said.

Meanwhile in Equestria, Twilight’s Castle…

“So Twilight did you want me to come with you?” Spike asked.

“Nah just going to be a few minutes to tell Sunset the great news and head back here.” Twilight replied.

“Why not write it down in the journal and send it that way?” Spike asked.

“I’d rather do it in person now that the portal is open.” Twilight replied. Grabbing her saddlebags and strapping them on. After throwing in a few supplies she turned to Spike who looked worried.

“Don’t worry Spike I’m not going to be gone that long. If you need anything the girls are here in town. Besides, I can’t wait to see the look on Sunset’s face when I tell her this.” Twilight said.

“Don’t you think you better let Sunset know you're coming?” Spike asked.

“Oh yeah, that would be a good idea.” Twilight replied, chuckling slightly and rubbing her neck with her hoof. Twilight opened the journal and began to write to Sunset. She couldn’t wait to tell her of her arrival and the great news.

Wednesday morning Sunset awoke to a buzzing sound. She looked around and realized it wasn’t her phone, but the journal. Sunset quickly and saw a glow from the journal and knew it was a message from Princess Twilight. Sunset was always excited to hear from her. It dawned on Sunset it was still dark, meaning it was probably early Wednesday morning.

Sunset opened the journal and read the message from Twilight.

Sunset Shimmer,
I have some important news to tell you. Don’t worry it’s good news. I am going to come for a visit, as I would like to tell you personally. What works best for you? Let me know.

Princess Twilight Sparkle

Sunset sat there in shock. She wondered what it could be and why Twilight wanted to tell her in person. So she figured she better respond and tell Twilight, the best time to come.

Sunset wasn’t worried about people seeing Twilight. Just people seeing her arrive. Her friends knew about the portal to Equestria, and she hoped to keep it to those six. Picking up a pen she wrote back.

Princess Twilight Sparkle,

I am excited to hear what you have to say. I am curious why you can’t tell me in the journal. But the best time to show up would be during classes. So this way no one sees you use the portal. You can wait in my mom’s office. (Vice Principal Luna).

Sunset finished writing to Twilight and put the book back, going back to sleep was not going to be easy, Twilight was coming to see her and with good news for once. Sunset was elated and two seconds later she was fast asleep.

The next morning at Breakfast Sunset couldn’t wait to tell Luna the good news. As soon as Luna came into her room to wake her up, Sunset jumped out of bed.

Luna was completely shocked by Sunset being awake and out of bed and not having to fight with Sunset to get her up.

“O.K. Who are you, and what you have done with the real Sunset?” Luna asked.

“Mom, you are not gonna believe this!!” I got a message from Twilight last night in the journal and she’s coming for a quick visit. She has important news to tell me and wants to tell me personally!!” Sunset exclaimed.

“Why are you so excited? Usually when she comes here something bad is happening.” Luna told her.

“She has promised me it’s good news!!” Oh I can’t wait to hear it. Oh I better tell you she might show up during classes. I told to come while classes were in session so no one sees her using the portal. I also kinda told her to wait for me in your office.” Sunset said the last line trying to sound sweet and innocent.

Luna scowled at Sunset over the last remark. “Sunset I don’t have time to babysit, plus what if Celestia or one of the teachers show up.” Luna told her.

“Mom your sister, Aunt Celestia knows who Twilight is.” Sunset reminded her.

“Ok fine but do the girls know?” Luna asked.

“No I was gonna check in at lunch and see if she arrived yet.” Sunset told her.

“OK but everyone is not having lunch in my office, understand?” Luna said.

“Yes mommie dearest.” Sunset said being smart.

Luna spun around and put her pointer finger up right in Sunset’s face. “Don’t you ever call me that, understand.” Luna said with a voice full of authority and no hint of sarcasm.

“Sorry mom, I was just joking.” Sunset said.

“Sunset I’m sorry but I’m on edge. Chrys texted me last night and said Gilda has requested to speak to her at the prison today.” Luna informed her.

“Oh no.” Sunset replied.

“Unfortunately yes. Also Sunset, maybe tonight we should watch that movie and you’ll see why I reacted like that. Sorry to snap at you, you probably don’t know that story do you?” Luna asked

“No, I just heard the phrase before.” Sunset replied.

It’s ok.” Luna said wrapping Sunset in a hug.

“Now c’mon we got to get to school.” Luna said, taking her keys off the plaque.

Sunset grabbed her bag and Luna got her purse and umbrella as there was a chance of rain. Sunset hoped Twilight didn’t teleport in right in the middle of a downpour. That would be very unpleasant. Yet whenever Twilight visited they usually had good weather.

Sunset was lost in thought to the point where she didn’t even realize they had arrived at the school. Upon arrival Sunset hopped out the car and ran to meet her friends near the statue so they could all hit the music room and hang out before school.

It hurt Luna some to see Sunset run off with just a quick “bye mom” and wave goodbye. But she was also happy to see Sunset hanging with girls her own age and having friends. Plus since the Battle of the Bands incident, less people had been harassing Sunset. With Gilda and the Diamond Dogs behind bars, life seemed perfect for once.

During third period the portal at the base of the horse statue outside of Canterlot High shimmered and out came Twilight Sparkle. Twilight looked around and made sure no one saw her. Quickly and quietly made her way into the school.

Looking around to make sure no one was roaming about, she hurriedly made her way towards Luna’s office. Twilight did not want anyone to know she was there this time as she was supposed to be in and out. Not that she didn’t want to see her friends, she did actually. Just the rest of the school considered her a bad omen. If Twilight is here there is usually trouble.

Twilight made it to Luna’s office and knocked on the door.

“Enter.” Luna said without even looking up.

“Vice Principal Luna?” Twilight asked as she slipped in, then saw her sitting there.

“Hello Twilight, you're kind of early, it's only mid morning, Lunch isn’t until fifth period, it’s only halfway through third.

“That’s fine, I can wait, unless you don’t want me too.” Twilight said, feeling awkward.

“Well let me call Sunset next period she has a study hall. Unless you want to wait until her friends are able but then that’s lunch, and I have a meeting with Celestia in a few minutes. Unless you want to wait here, but if someone walks in it could cause several questions to be asked.” Luna explained.

“Okay go to your meeting, I’ll hide under the desk.” Twilight quipped.

“It won't be long, and I’m sorry, but I didn’t expect to babysit today.” Luna said, then mentally punched herself as soon as she said it.

“Babysit!! I’m a princess in another world, I don’t need a babysitter! I am not over there playing pretend or dress up!!” Twilight said, getting louder and very annoyed with Luna.

Luna realized what she said as soon as she said it and needed to quiet Twilight down and quickly.

“Twilight I didn’t mean it like that…”Luna began with her hands in front of her trying to calm her down.

“You know what Luna? How about I just come back some other time? I didn’t want to tell Sunset through her journal but I guess I will. Especially considering you think you need to babysit me!” Twilight said, getting louder.

“Twilight calm down, I have to go to a meeting, hang here in the office, and lock the door after I leave, I’ll bring Sunset here next period I promise.” Luna said.

Twilight locked the door and slumped down in the seat. The same seat and same office where Luna had claimed she had destroyed the decorations for The Fall Formal. Thank goodness Flash came in with those photos that Sunset had used to make it look like Twilight was the culprit.

Twilight had to admit, due to everything that had happened that she was glad that Luna took Sunset in. Luna could be a real hardass but that was what Sunset needed. At least that’s what Twilight thought. Sunset had everything Twilight could want her to have a home, a loving family, protection, food, clothing, and good friends.

She was quite miffed that Luna thought she had to babysit her. She had saved Equestria about 4 different times and the Crystal Empire too. Babysit-really?

“Ah know what you mean thar’ Sweetie Belle, now Applejack wants to invite Sunset over this weekend to help out with the apple harvest.” Applebloom complained.

The Cutie Mark Crusaders were in the library at one of the back tables complaining about Sunset Shimmer and how much time their older sisters were spending with her. Also how her “magic” turned them into freaks.

“You see what I mean?” Sweetie Belle said.

“I know Rainbow is trying to see if Sunset can be equipment manager and drag the volleyballs and other equipment out at practice. Since the Fall Formal Rainbow has had very little time for me.” Scootaloo replied.

“Guys Rarity wants to use her as a model for new clothes. She’s designing, it's not right.” Sweetie Belle whined.

“We need to do something to save our sisters.” Scootaloo replied.

“Ah don’t know about all that Scoots, but we do somethin’ because I don’t see Applejack anymore as it is, now this weekend Sunset is gonna be thar’. Applebloom said.

“She’ll probably talk to her the whole time too. At least I got the laptop set up before Sunset could do it.” Sweetie Belle added.

“Well let’s put our heads together and see what we can do about this.”Scootaloo replied.

“Ah’m sure we can figure somethin out.” Applebloom said triumphantly.

“Shhhh!” Warned Miss Cherilee as she walked by.

The crusaders decided to keep it on the down low for and wait for a chance to strike.

Luna unlocked her office door and made Twilight jump. Twilight had curled up into a ball on the chair and gone to sleep. She had the door locked in case anyone tried to walk in while she was in there.

“Twilight I did not mean to startle you.” Luna said as she walked in.

“It’s ok. How was your meeting?” Twilight asked.

“Fine, Celestia and I are looking for fundraisers that we can do to help recoup the losses from the Fall Formal debacle.” Luna said plopping down behind her desk exhausted.

“Luna I need to know, really and truly, how is Sunset doing?” Twilight asked.

“Guilty, scared, she went through a lot of bullying here. She had food dumped on her, shoved into and locked in her locker while someone painted “She Demon’s Lair” on the outside…”Luna recounted when Twilight interrupted her.

“Sunset was locked in her locker, while someone painted on the outside of it? With her pounding to be let out?” Twilight asked, with tears in her eyes.

“Yes she was beaten unconscious, as well. If Rainbow Dash had not come along Sunset would be dead. This was 24 hours after the Fall Formal.” Luna said looking like she was gonna cry any minute.

“Had I known she was going to be treated this badly, I would have brought her back to Equestria with me. This is horrible.” Twilight cried.

“I know, it’s been hard.” Luna admitted,

“She has you and two wonderful “aunts” and five friends as close sisters. Luna you did the best thing taking her in. I can’t thank you enough.” Twilight said.

“Twilight I have made plans to adopt Sunset Shimmer legally.” Luna said.

Twilight’s face lit up and she even squeed. “Luna, that is wonderful news, Sunset in her journal referred to you as mom.

“ When she calls me mom. It makes me feel really happy.” Luna said.

“Is she free yet?” Twilight asked.

“I’ll call her in.” Luna said.

Luna hit her buzzer and said to Ms. Inkwell. “Ms. Inkwell, have Sunset Shimmer report to my office please.” Luna said.

While waiting, Luna told Twilight about Apple Cinnamon. Twilight was shocked that Luna had time for dating.

As Sunset opened the door she heard Luna say “He was a total gentleman and…”

“He was and still is a homewrecker.” Sunset said walking in.

“Sunset.” Luna warned.

“Twilight, hello!!” Sunset said. Twilight stood up and the two girls embraced.

“So what is this important news that you had to tell me in person?” Sunset asked as the girls sat down.

“Well it’s this…”Twilight started.

Canterlot State Prison that afternoon.

Chrysalis walked down the tier of the A wing to Gilda’s cell. The prison guard opened the door.

“Gilda you have a visitor, behave yourself.” He said.

Chrysalis stepped into Gilda’s cell and saw Gilda had a bunk and a little table set up with a chess board set up.

“Ever play chess?” Gilda asked.

“You requested me for a chess game?” Chrysalis asked.

“More than just that.” Gilda replied.

Gilda motioned for Chrysalis to approach the board. Chrysalis cautiously walked over to the board. A guard walked in and put a chair down. Chrysalis sat down and looked across at Gilda.

“Make the first move.” Chrysalis said.

“I already have.” Said Gilda moving her knight out.

As the game rolled on Gilda asked “Chrysalis doesn’t it wake you in the middle of the night, what happened? Thinking that locking me up is going to magically reform me. Knowing one day someone will pick up where I Ieft off?”

“Yes it does. Check” Chrysalis replied, moving her rook into position.

“Tell me what do you do when you wake to that?” Asked Gilda staring at Chrysalis.

“I feel a great swell of pity for you or anyone else who comes after my niece.” Chrysalis replied, sliding her knight into position.

“Why did you come here Chrysalis?” Gilda leaning back from the board.

“Why do you ask questions to which you already know the answers?” Chrysalis replied.

“Your never ending search for hope.” Gilda replied.

As Chrysalis got up to leave Gilda said to her “You know this prison won’t hold me forever. A war is coming and I intend to fight it.“ Gilda said.

“I will be there too.” Chrysalis said, exiting the cell.

“Sunset will be at the center of it and we will find out where people’s loyalties truly lie.” Gilda said ominously. Chrysalis just waited as they closed the cell door and she walked away.

Gilda went and lightly knocked over her king, a classy way of symbolizing checkmate. For now.

“You see Sunset, I have done a lot of research after the Fall Formal on what happened to you and why. After the Battle of the Bands I think I figured it out. I was on one of two theories, thank Celestia the first one was wrong.” Twilight sat explaining to Sunset.

“What was the first one.” Sunset asked timidly.

“That you were not from Equestria, and the magic of the crown turned you into your true self, a raging She Demon from another dimension. Thank goodness I was wrong.” Twilight went on.

Sunset almost lost it. It looks like the dam was about to burst. Sunset hung her head. Next Twilight and Luna heard a sniffle and saw Sunset’s shoulder’s shake.

Luna was up in a flash and went over and pulled Sunset up into her arms. She held her girl, this was her baby and she could not handle seeing Sunset like this. Luna shot a look at Twilight.

“Sunset I didn't mean to upset you.” Twilight said compassionately, rubbing her back.

Sunset just clung to Luna, she didn’t know why she was crying. She was happy that she wasn’t a she-demon. Then a question popped in Sunset’s head, what was she?

“Twilight?” Sunset said, drying her eyes. “If I am not a She-Demon from another dimension, then what am I?”

“I believe you are the 7th Element of Harmony.” Twilight said.

“So does that mean I have to leave for Equestria?” Sunset asked letting go of Luna. She did not want to go. The thought of leaving this world behind now scared her, she had family, friends, why would she ever want to leave all that.

“No I think you’re meant to help protect this world with your friends, just like I am meant to protect Equestria with my friends.” Twilight explained to her.

“How do you know I’m an element and what element am I?” Asked Sunset.

“You’re definitely an element the way you “ponied up” at the Battle of the Bands. I’m not sure what element yet, I’m still working on it. I definitely think you’ve reformed.” Twilight told her.

“Hardly, but like I told you in my letter, things are looking up for me here at CHS. I have your friends, and even Trixie and I are on strained terms, due to the trap that the Dazzlings pushed her into doing.” Sunset said.

“Why was there a trap door on the stage I wonder?’ Twilight pondered, then after a second looked at Sunset.

“What?’ Sunset asked.

“I think you have reformed and you can count me among your friends as well. Let me know when graduation is and I will definitely come over for that. Yet something tells me that I will be back before then.” Twilight said.

“What do you mean?” Luna asked, feeling quite alarmed.

“I feel that something big is on the horizon, not sure what it is but, I have a feeling I will be back sooner than later. I don’t know why, but it’s just a feeling.

“Why did you come here, with only half of the story?” Sunset asked.

“Because you need to hear it directly from the girl who’s crown changed you into that thing, that you are NOT A MONSTER, NOT A DEMON, you are an element of harmony. More than that you’re my friend.” Twilight told her taking Sunset’s hands into hers.

“Wow.” Sunset said, trying to process all this.

“Now Sunset do me one favor, please?” Twilight asked.

“What is that?” Asked Sunset.

“When you see Flash Sentry, apologize to him, for using him.” Twilight said.

“Ok I guess I should. Twilight are you leaving now?” Sunset asked not wanting to see her new friend go.

“I have duties back in Equestria, we just had a major fruit bat infestation in Sweet Apple Acres and I am helping Applejack build a bat sanctuary. I wish I could Sunset but I can’t.” Twilight explained.

“Not even for lunch next period? The girls will want to see you.” Sunset complained.

“Sunset I don’t need the whole school knowing I’m here and your mom said we can’t eat here at her office.” Twilight reminded her.

“Please mom.” Sunset using her puppy dog eyes.

“That doesn’t work on me.” Luna said leaning back in her chair and crossing her arms. Twilight decided to join in and used the puppy dog eyes on Luna too.

“OK fine, grab some lunch for Twilight. And get back here with the girls. I can’t believe I folded like a tent-AGAIN!!” Luna said, throwing her arms up in the air and walking out of her office in defeat.

“You got your mom trained well.” Twilight remarked.

“I only won this one, because you were here.” Sunset remarked.

With that the lunch bell sounded and Sunset went to round up her friends. She knew they would feel betrayed if they knew Twilight was here and she didn’t tell them. Sunset told them as they came into the cafeteria to meet in Luna’s office. She said she had a surprise for them.

“Ooooooooo I just love surprises. It makes me nervous and excited-it makes me nervouscited!!” Pinkie Pie exclaimed.

“You know that’s not a real word right?” Applejack said.

“That sounds like some kind of pesticide.” Rainbow Dash remarked.

They were astatic too se Twilight again. One by one Applejack, Rarity, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, and Rainbow Dash all entered, put their trays down and started to eat. In between eating the girls chatted with Twilight and with Sunset’s permission Twilight told them about her being an Element of Harmony and explained them to the girls.

After lunch Twilight hugged each girl goodbye and reminded them to continue to help Sunset learn about friendship as they had been doing. Eventually the girls all got ready to go to classes, Sunset was very sad to see Twilight leave.

Shortly after lunch Luna returned to her office and as classes began Twilight headed out back through the portal to Equestria. After that the day seemed to be normal or as normal as things could be around Canterlot High School.

“Hey Sugarcube I got a question to ask ya?” Applejack said to Sunset that day after school.

“Ask away.” Sunset grabbing what she needed from her locker and looking around nervously. Applejack noticed this and decided to reassure your friend.

“Sunset, relax I’m here, anyone tries to push into your locker an’ I’m gonna lay them out flatter than a pancake.” Applejack said.

“Applejack you and your friends are too good to me. I don’t deserve it.” Sunset said.

“Of course you do, Twilight said for you to learn about Friendship, at first I was lookin’ out fer ya. But Ah have really come to accept and value you as a friend. Ah like ya Sunset-not in that way though.” Applejack said.

“Is that what I was to you guys a charity?” Sunset asked.

“Sugarcube, you were not a charity. We asked Luna if we could help you with rebuilding the wall. We tried to help ya that night but ya freaked on us.” Applejack said.’

“Well I could see everything I was doing, just I had no control over any of it. It was like someone or something was controlling me. That’s why I was so scared of you girls when you approached me that night.” Sunset told Applejack as she closed her locker.

“Sugarcube, ya may really have been a bitch at times, but I don’t hate ya.” Applejack reassured her.

“Well what did you want to ask me anyway?” Asked Sunset.

“Well this Saturday we have to move the apples into the barn before winter comes and get them undercover. I was uh wonderin’ if you like to help?” Asked Applejack.

“Ok what time do I show up?” Asked Sunset.

“Sunrise will be good, actually.” Applejack replied.

“Wow, um maybe it would be better if I slept over on Friday huh?” Asked Sunset.

“Well that would make it easier on your mom not having to get up before dawn and we can find a place fer ya fer the night.” Applejack replied, sensing Sunset’s apprehension.

“Well before I commit, let’s go ask my mom first.” Sunset said. Sunset started towards Luna’s office. Then she turned around and motioned Applejack to follow her.

“Big Mac will be waiting for me and Apple Bloom to head out. Just call me, after school and tell me what your mom said.” Applejack said.

“Ok, I will do it.” Sunset fist bumping with Applejack.

As Applejack left to get in the cab of the truck, Apple Bloom shot her daggers with her eyes. Now she was gonna have Sunset spend a night and help out getting all the apples under cover. This was getting to be too much.

“You’re gonna bring her over to the farm?” Apple Bloom asked.

“Yeah she wants to reform, she helps us out I know fer sure she has reformed. You need to be nicer to her.” Applejack scolded.

Luna was in her office on the phone with Chrysalis. Chrysalis was talking about her visit to the prison. Luna was perplexed like Chrysalis was.

“She wanted to play chess?” Luna asked.

“I think the chess game was a ruse, for her message. That the prison won’t hold her, there’s a war coming that she intends to fight, Sunset will be at the center of it and we will find out where people’s loyalties truly lie.” Chrysalis recounted to Luna.

“Thanks Chrys I will take this under advisement. I need to get Sunset ” Luna said Luna hung up the phone and leaned forward holding her head in her hands.

“When is this gonna end, Sunset has been through so much, she’s trying so hard to reform, why can’t people leave her alone.” Luna thought. Luna started crying all she wanted was happiness for Sunset. She was startled when Sunset came into the office and knew Luna had been crying.

“Mom what’s wrong, and don’t tell me nothing.” Sunset demanded seeing Luna upset..

“Sunset Gilda called Chrysalis over to the prison and played a game of chess with her…”Luna began and gave Sunset a run down of the events. When it was over she gave Sunset a chance to process what was told.

“Then that settles it. I'm gonna have Rainbow Dash teach me self defense, and I want Chrysalis to train me to shoot. I’m not gonna run to Equestria, but I am tired of living in fear.” Sunset said.

Sunset then told Luna about helping Applejack on the farm this Saturday and staying there Friday Night.

“Yes, Sunset I’m ok with that. You got your stuff, if so we can head home.” Luna said.

“Yeah I’m ready let’s go.” Sunset replied.

Upon arriving at home. Sunset started on her school work. Luna hung her keys and got changed. Then after that got on her phone and ordered some Chinese take out as she was in no mood to cook.

She sat down on the couch and texted Chrysalis about how worried she was over this. She wanted Sunset safe and it seemed like that would never happen. Luna decided to put on a brave face.

Chrysalis texted Luna, asking if Luna wanted her to stay over. Luna texted back that she didn’t need to. She was gonna put on a brave face for the night. Shortly after Luna was done texting Sunset came out and climbed into Luna’s lap.

Luna relished these times when she could rock her girl. For Sunset it was an escape from the day. Luna always smelled of lavender; it was a calming scent and for Sunset it was safety. Unfortunately Luna had to get up as the doorbell rang.

After checking through the peephole to make sure it was the food. Luna opened the door and gave the delivery girl (around Sunset’s age) a tip. Her and Sunset had dinner. Sunset the vegetable delight, Luna the sweet and sour chicken. After some TV they were ready for bed.

“Sunset I know this is weird as there are no storms tonight, but would you mind sleeping next to me in my bed?” Luna asked.

“Um ok sure, are you scared too?” Asked Sunset.

“Yes, yes I am.” Luna replied, getting into bed. Sunset went into her room to grab her phone and then slid in next to Luna. Luna put her arm over Sunset and soon the two feeling safe and comfortable fell asleep.

Thursday went by fine for Sunset as more and more people were accepting her in CHS. Maybe not accepting her but, leaving her alone which she was ok with. She was also getting along better with Trixie as well. It was an easy day. She was looking forward to Saturday. That was the kick off of “Sunset’s Good Will Tour”. At least that that’s what Sunset called it.

Friday finally arrived and word that a new girl was going to start school from Manehatten on Monday. It was Applejack’s cousin Babs Seed. Her old school had closed down and her parents had transferred jobs to Canterlot, knowing they had family there. Also figuring it would be easier for Babs to go to school where she had family.

For Sunset Friday was dragging. She just wanted to get to Applejack’s farm and begin working. Finally the bell rang and Sunset stopped at Luna’s office with a quick hug and kiss goodbye.

“Now you behave yourself over there got it?” Luna told her.

“Yes mom.” Said Sunset.

“I mean it, now have a good time and I’m glad that you’re owning up to your mistakes, I’m proud of you Sunset.”

Sunset grabbed her bag, waved goodbye and ran off. Luna could help but shed a few tears Sunset was growing up, she wished she had reached out to her earlier. Especially when she found out she was sleeping in the Apple’s clubhouse.

“I can’t wait, she arrived earlier today and Babs said she’ll help tomorrow with our fall harvest. Hey wait what is she doing here?” Applebloom asked, seeing Sunset hurriedly walking towards them.

“Well sis she’s gonna help with the fall harvest I told you that.” Applejack explained.

“What? We don’t need her.” Applebloom whined.

“Applebloom, she’s having dinner, gonna spend the night and help tomorrow. Granny Smith is fine with it too. Now get in the cab and stop your complaining.” Applejack said.

“Sorry I’m late.” Sunset said as she ran up to the truck.

“It’s ok Sugarcube hop in the back with me. Oh before I forget my cousin Babs Seed is in town at least for the rest of the school year.” Applejack said climbing in the truck.

“Well she’s lucky she’s got family to help her get settled in at school. I’d like to meet her.” Sunset said as Big Mac started up his truck.

“Well you get to do that when we get home.” Applejack said taking off her hat so it wouldn’t blow away. The ride to Sweet Apple Acres was quiet, not that much could be heard over the wind and other noise. Arriving at Sweet Apple Acres everyone disembarked and Applejack pulled Sunset aside.

“Sunset I have some bad news to tell you. With Babs arriving…”Applejack

“I’m gonna have to sleep outside huh?”

“Not exactly outside, up in the hayloft of the barn.” Applejack said cringing.

“Can I see it?” Sunset asked.

Applejack walked toward the barn with Sunset. Walking through the barn Sunset noticed the smell, but it was not overpowering. Following Applejack up the ladder in the loft she was shown where she would sleep for the night. Sunset tried the bed by laying on the hay that was piled up to make a bed. It was pretty comfy.

“Hey, this hay is pretty comfy.” Sunset laughed at her joke.

“Here I’ll get ya a pillow and a few blankets and you should be warm enough after that, it will be a little cold at night.” Applejack told her.

“Applejack it’s great, better than the clubhouse.” Sunset told her climbing down.

“Still bothers me you were sleeping out there, especially through a severe thunderstorm.” Applejack said.

“Yeah and now I am scared of them, but mom is there when I need her. Besides, would you have let the queen bitch of CHS sleep at your house.” Sunset said smiling.

“That’s one thing you can always count on is your family. In answer to your question, an Apple never turns away anyone in need. Now let’s get you settled” Applejack said as she started out the barn followed by Sunset.

Applejack and Sunset headed up to the house. Sunset was sure she could do this: a rough night's sleep, a day of hard work, after dinner and breakfast Sunset was gonna be helping one of her friends. Repaying her debt. In the morning “Sunset’s Good Will Tour” finally kicked off.

Right now though it was time to set up her bed in the loft and join the Apples for dinner, and meet Babs Seed.

“But sis I still don’t get why we need her here?” Apple Bloom whined.

“Because she volunteered to help that’s why. I don’t want to hear another word about it. Our other helpers will be here in the mornin’ and we need all the help we can get. Am I right Big Mac?” Applejack asked.

“Eeyupp.” Big Mac replied.

“Who else is coming?” Asked Babs.

“Well our Cousins Braeburn and Apple Cinnamon, and Toe Tapper.” Applejack replied.

“Who’s Toe Tapper?” Asked Sunset walking in the door.

“He’s a guy who sings in this acapella group with my brother and Rarity and Torch Song. They call themselves the Wondertones. It’s a part time thing that they do on the side to make a few bucks.” Applejack explained.

“Why does he want to help?” Apple Bloom asked, shooting daggers at Sunset with her eyes.

“Big Mac mentioned to him about the fall harvest and he asked if I was gonna be there and Big Mac said “EEYUPP” then he volunteered to help.” Said Applejack leaning against the wall throwing Sunset a knowing wink.

“Another Smitten Kitten. Isn’t that the term Rarity’s uses?” Asked Sunset, smiling while thinking about it.

“Hey if Rarity is part of this group, how come she’s not helping?” Asked Apple Bloom.

Applejack and Sunset (and Big Mac surprisingly) all started laughing hysterically and then Applejack stopped and looked at Apple Bloom and Babs who looked at them like they lost their minds.

“Oh you were being serious?” Applejack asked looking at Apple Bloom and Babs.

“I can’t see Rarity working here, ooohh I broke a nail.” Sunset said.

“Nice to thing to say about your friend.” Apple Bloom replied looking with disdain at Sunset.

“I meant it as a joke and Rarity would agree with me.” Sunset said.

“Still it’s not right. Right Babs?” Apple Bloom asked.

“Well I really don’t know this Rarity so I don’t know.” Babs replied.

“Oh you must be Apple Bloom’s cousin Babs Seed I heard about. Hi welcome to Canterlot I’m Sunset Shimmer.” Sunset said, introducing herself to Babs extending her hand.

“Nice to meet ya.” Babs said, shaking Sunset’s hand.

“Come and get it!” Granny Smith gave a holler.

“Come on Sunset grubs on.” Applejack said.

“Ok with me I’m starving.” Sunset replied as she headed for the kitchen.

“I guess Luna doesn’t feed ya huh?” Apple Bloom sassed. Applejack grabbed Apple Bloom’s arm and spun her around to look at her.

“Apple Bloom you know how to treat guests and I don’t know what this attitude is but if you don’t cut it out I am gonna tan your hide.” Applejack scolded her.

Babs decided it was time to break the tension and the awkwardness in the room after that remark. “Sunset I’m sorry you got to sleep in the hayloft tonight, I was thinking I could trade with you. Let you sleep in the house. I'll take the hayloft. It’s getting cold at night.” Babs said.

“It’s ok Babs, it'll be fun, plus Applejack said she's gonna furnish me with all the necessary materials. Like a pillow and a few blankets, plus I tried out the hay it is very soft.“ Sunset said.

“Ok I just don’t feel it’s right.” Babs said.

“It’s fine after dinner, I want to help with the clean up before I get set up in the loft.” Sunset said.

“Well Sunset you’re gonna be working most of tomorrow you don’t need to help with the dishes tonight, you’re a guest.” Applejack told her.

“No, no I insist.” Sunset said.

“Ok then.” Applejack said.

The rest of dinner passed with light conversation and Sunset was given a rundown of tomorrow getting all the apples undercover and next week they would be sold, they had a big buyer or two. One was Filthy Rich.

After dinner, Sunset helped with clearing the table, washing and putting away stuff. Applejack was impressed Sunset really seemed to have turned herself around.

“Wow this girl is really trying. It’s nice to see.” Applejack thought.

After that Applejack gathered up an extra pillow and some blankets and Sunset went with her to the barn. Applejack went up first and set the bed and Sunset followed quickly and jumped in the hay and pulled the blankets up.

“Thanks AJ this is gonna be fine for the night. Much better than the clubhouse. Thank you so much for letting me help.” Sunset replied hopping up.

“Sunset I believe you have reformed I really do. Tomorrow it will be you, me, Big Mac, Toe Tapper, Apple Bloom, Babs Seed, Braeburn and Apple Cinnamon. Granny will be cleaning up and making the food. It is a clockwork operation.” Applejack said.

“Well will granny need help?” Sunset asked.

“Sugarcube your gonna be workin’ in the orchards with us.” Applejack stated matter-of-factly.

“Not me silly, mom.” Sunset stated.

“Why in tarnation would Luna want to help?” Applejack asked leaning up against the wall, arms crossed. She had an idea where this was headed.

Sunset pulled out her phone and started to text.

“What are you doin’?” Asked Applejack.

“All I have to do is hit send.” Sunset said, showing Applejack her phone.

Hey Mom,

Guess what. Apple Cinnamon is going to help tomorrow with the fall harvest. He’ll be here early.

Sunset Shimmer

“Sunset she's gonna have to work. Probably with Granny Smith in the house. Does your mom know anything about bakin’?” Applejack asked.

“Not really she burnt pancakes she was making for us one time.” Sunset remarked.
Applejack chuckled slightly, but then again everyone makes mistakes in the
kitchen at one time or another. One time trying to make a milkshake the top wasn’t on right and when she started it chocolate syrup and ice cream went all over the kitchen. Granny Smith laid into her over that one and told Applejack she was responsible
for cleaning it up. Apple Bloom and Big Mac snuck in and helped here and there though.

“Go ahead Sunset hit send. Just if she texts back tell her it’s a work day. Get some rest you don’t have to get up quite as early as me, but it will be early. Good Night Sunset” Applejack said.

“Night Applejack.” Sunset replied, taking off her jacket and getting back under the blankets. Sunset hit send on her message she didn’t like Apple Cinnamon but he really cared about Luna. A second later her phone buzzed:

Luna: Really Sunset?
Sunset: No Joke
Luna: I would probably get in the way.
Sunset: Applejack said you could help Granny Smith inside cooking and preparing food. But you need to be here around sunrise.
Luna: I will try honey. Good Night I love you.
Sunset: I love you too mom.

Sunset got snuggled under her blankets and fell asleep pretty quick and for once had no nightmares. The hay was a good insulator as she was warm with several blankets and a pillow. Sunset hadn’t slept like this in years.

Sunset was awoken by the barn door opening slowly. It was just getting light so Sunset knew it was early and looked up from her bed it was Applejack and she was grabbing wooden baskets and taking them out as quiet as she could.

Sunset let out a yawn and a stretch in her bed. She decided it was time to get up and head in for breakfast and then get to work. Sunset grabbed her jacket and swung it over her shoulder and climbed down the ladder. Applejack looked up .

“Sunset you didn’t need to be up just yet. I’m just getting stuff ready.” Applejack said.

“I figured it was time to get up. I guess we have breakfast and get started?” Sunset asked.

“About right Granny Smith's got eggs, bacon, pancakes, biscuits, honey and apple butter and syrup. Not to mention Apple Juice too. So get your fill.” Applejack said.

As she came out of the barn Sunset saw a pick-up truck pull into the driveway and out stepped Braeburn and Apple Cinnamon. Apple Cinnamon looked over and immediately recognized Sunset. He hoped her mother was there too.

“Hey I didn’t expect to see you here, kiddo. Your mom wouldn’t happen to be here today is she?” Apple Cinnamon asked Sunset.

“I told her you were going to be here so she should show up. Breakfast is cooking inside.” Sunset informed them.

“Sounds good.” Said Braeburn as he headed in with Apple Cinnamon. Sunset decided she better go in and eat too. As she walked into the farmhouse she was greeted by the scent of bacon frying and apple cinnamon (the smell not the person).

Sunset got her plate and got some eggs, pancakes, skipping the bacon, she picked up two rolls and some honey for them and butter and syrup for the pancakes and sat down at the kitchen table where Big Mac, Apple Bloom and Babs were eating. After getting her apple juice from the pitcher on the table she dug in like everyone else was doing.

Applejack and her cousins were out on the porch enjoying the sunrise with small TV trays, Sunset heard the front door open and Applejack directing some guy to the buffet line.

“Right through there Toe Tapper.” Applejack was saying. Sunset looked over towards Toe Tapper alight blue complexion and dark blue hair. Definitely looked like a Glee club member but was dressed for a day of hard work. Yet if he was willing to put in the effort it would be appreciated.

As the Apples were finishing breakfast and dropping their plates off to Granny Smith, Sunset headed outside and took her leather jacket and dropped it over the railing. Applejack grabbed it and put it on the coat rack in the house and said it would be fine there.

As everyone was about to begin their chores another car pulled into the driveway it was Luna. She got out of her car and walked up the driveway and no one was more shocked than Apple Cinnamon.

He ran over to greet Luna as she got out of the car. Luna put her arms around his neck and he spun her around with his arms around her waist. After planting a kiss on Luna everyone clapped.

Luna and Apple Cinnamon both looked and blushed forgetting they had an audience. Everyone but Sunset had smiles or a smug look. Applejack wanted to break the awkwardness of the moment.

“Ok Apples and friends let's hit the orchard. Vice Principal Luna, I think Granny Smith could use your help in the house.” Applejack said.

“I’ll see you after the harvest.” Apple Cinnamon said.

“I look forward to it.” Luna replied.

Apple Cinnamon gave her a quick kiss and a smack on her butt. “Now get in there girl, don’t want to keep Granny Smith waiting.” He told Luna.

Luna quickly walked into the house to see what was needed. She was elated to see Apple Cinnamon. As she walked onto the porch there stood Sunset with her arms crossed and shooting Luna a look she could have skated on.

“Don’t even start, you told me he was here.” She told Sunset.

“I wasn’t sure you were gonna show.” Sunset replied.

“Good Morning to you too.” Luna replied heading inside. With that Sunset headed out to the orchard.

Everyone started moving towards the orchard where there were a few buckets already full of apples that were covered. Big Mac, Braeburn, and Apple Cinnamon moved those into the barn first. Applejack handed Toe Tapper and Sunset baskets to put down by the trees.

Most of the picking was done by Applejack, Big Mac, and their cousins. Apple Bloom and Babs seed were catching the apples that got tossed down.

Sunset was mostly working in the barn with Toe Tapper. Sunset was dumping the baskets into wooden crates for sale. It was hard work but Sunset felt like she was atoning for her sins. She was also helping out a friend.

“So Toe Tapper, why are you helping out?” Sunset asked.

“I could ask you the same thing.” Toe Tapper replied.

“I’m helping Applejack, because I'm atoning for my sins. I told my friends that I would help each one of them out on Saturday’s or any other day to atone. I’m doing something nice for each one of them.” Sunset explained wiping the sweat off of her brow.

“I have a reason but I’m not gonna declare it.” Toe Tapper replied nailing a crate shut.

“You have a crush on Applejack.” Sunset replied as she went to get a drink from the thermos.

“No I don’t.” Replied Toe Tapper.

“It’s ok to ask her out.” Sunset replied.

“No it’s not. I’m bullied and scared to stand up to certain bullies. Guys like me, we don’t get “happily ever after” doesn’t happen like that.” Toe Tapper replied.

“Does Applejack know how you feel?” Sunset asked.

“I don’t tell people, who I like, that I like them. I don’t ask them out. I get rejected and made fun of. I stay silent about it.” Toe Tapper replied.

“That’s a recipe for ending up alone.” Sunset replied sadly.

“So be it.” Toe Tapper sadly replied.

“You want to be alone?” Sunset asked.’

“I don’t want it, I don’t have to like it. I just have to accept it.” Toe Tapper replied nailing another crate shut.

“You must have really been hurt in the past. What happened?” Sunset asked, not sure she wanted to hear it.

“I started in eighth grade, asking girls out, even having my friends helping me. Half the time I would chicken out. Others were like “Get away from me creep.” After several rejections throughout eighth and ninth grades. I just shut down. Then there were these girls that would play games that they liked me, when they didn’t. So Sunset I go to school, study computers, and sing.” Toe Tapper replied.

“What do you do the rest of the time?” Sunset asked.

“Sit alone in my room and play on my phone and laptop.” Toe Tapper replied.

“You’re not going to find someone that way.” Sunset said.

“I told you she-demon I DON’T HAVE TO LIKE IT, I HAVE TO LEARN TO ACCEPT IT AND DEAL WITH IT. Now excuse me” Toe Tapper said walking out of the barn.

Sunset mentally punched herself. “Great going Shimmer. I shouldn’t try to help.” Sunset thought. Her thoughts were broken up by the Apples wheeling in more baskets of Apples.

“Where’s Toe Tapper?” Applejack asked.

“I don’t know, I think he needed a minute.” Sunset replied, unloading the buckets into the crates, soon the Apple family left and Sunset started to nail the crates shut.

Before she knew it. It was lunch time. Sunset grabbed Applejack and headed inside after eating her Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich and Apple Juice she told them everything.

“Once again I end up hurting people. I can never do anything right.” Sunset lamented.

“Now don’t go beatin’’ yourself up sugar cube, you couldn’t have known. I’ll look over the area, you just get those Apples boxed up.” The Cowgirl said. With that Applejack walked off to look around Sweet Apple Acres for Toe Tapper.

“Mom I didn’t want to upset anyone and he likes Applejack but ain’t ever gonna tell her. I was trying to help.” Sunset with tears in her eyes.

“I know my little worrybug.” Luna said, giving Sunset a big hug. Luna rubbed Sunset’s back some to calm her down. After a few minutes Luna released Sunset as she calmed down.

“I guess I’ll get back to work and keep my mouth shut.” Sunset said downhearted with head hung low and went back to the barn to set the crates up for the next load.

Applejack caught Toe Tapper walking down the driveway from the barn and called after him. Toe Tapper turned around to see Applejack coming down from the barn. He stopped and turned around.

“Why are you leaving so soon?” Applejack asked.

“I....I have something to do.” He lied.

“I know ya lyin’. Now don’t play with me Toe Tapper. Sunset is beatin’ herself up over this, she told me everythin’.” Applejack said.

“Everything?” Toe Tapper said, turning slightly red.

“Not every detail but she feels like crap, that you got upset. Two things I need ya to remember. One Sunset is my friend so don’t ever call her a she-demon again. Ya need to apologize to her.” Applejack said

“Two I would like to go out on a date with you. That’s not a joke or a game. Why didn’t ya speak up?” Applejack asked.

“You can only get rejected so many times, and played games with so many times before you have no confidence to talk to a girl. I had figured I was star-crossed.” He replied.

“Here stay for dinner please, but go in the barn, Sunset needs help. Ya also better apologize to her too. She’s reformed and doin’ stuff like this to show people she’s a good girl. I truly believe her after today.” Applejack told him.

“You’re not kidding me, you really do want to go on a date with me, and not a “pity date” but a real one?” He asked.

“Ya got that right on the nose thar sugar cube.” The cowgirl told him.

Toe Tapper just smiled. He couldn’t believe Applejack was gonna go on a date with him. He wanted to thank Applejack gracefully, he wanted to show confidence but all that came out was:

“YEEESSS!!!” Toe Taper shouted arms in the air. Then realized Applejack was
looking at him.

“Sorry I mean that’s wonderful Applejack.” Toe Tapper said slightly embarrassed.

“It’s ok thar sugar cube, a date with me isn’t that big a prize.” Applejack said.

“It is to me.” Toe Tapper replied heading back to the barn.

Toe Tapper went back to the barn and apologized to Sunset.

“Sunset I’m sorry about earlier. I mean it I am so sorry for yelling at you and calling you a she-demon you did save us at the Battle of the Bands. It was…” Toe Tapper began

“It was you never had a chance to let out all your grief in the romance department and that’s why you went off on me. I understand I been there myself and I forgive you.” Sunset replied.

“In the romance department?” Toe Tapper inquired.

“No letting out all my anger and my grief on one person.” Sunset replied lugging another basket.

“Thanks for your help and Applejack said she would go on a date with me.” Toe Tapper replied.

Sunset turned around smiling and gave him a thumbs up. She was happy that she helped fix up two people, one of which was one of her best friends. The afternoon and harvest went on until it was almost dark. The Apples got about 70% of the orchard done. Tomorrow Applejack, Big Mac, and Apple Bloom would help when they could but they had school work to do as did Sunset and Toe Tapper. So Babs was gonna help Braeburn and Apple Cinnamon who would do most of the work. But for now it was dinner, showers and time to relax for a few minutes.

Apple Cinnamon got a shower first, and after he smelled good. Then he went and romanced Luna for a few minutes on the back porch. Toe Tapper headed home after he stood on the front porch and made plans and exchanged numbers with Applejack. Apple Bloom and Babs were on their phones listening to music and Braeburn hung out with Big Mac and helped out Luna and Granny Smith with serving refreshments.

Sunset sat on the front steps of the porch. For a minute she was content and “Sunset’s Good Will Tour” had made a successful first stop at Sweet Apple Acres. Sunset got up and walked around the side of the house and was greeted by the scene of Luna and Apple Cinnamon making out on the side of the house.

Sunset walked right by her mom and Apple Cinnamon in a lip lock moving their hands all over each other’s bodies. As mad as she was about it she decided to just play it cool. Unfortunately her mouth didn’t cooperate

“Get a room. You two.” Sunset said walking by.

Luna and Apple Cinnamon broke their kiss. Luna glared at Sunset as she walked towards the back of the house. Luna went to go after her when Apple Cinnamon grabbed her arm

“Let me talk to her.” Apple Cinnamon said.

Sunset walked around the back of the house and leaned against the railing with her arms crossed. She didn’t like her mom kissing and making out with some guy.

“Sunset?” Apple Cinnamon asked, coming around the corner.
“What do you want?” Sunset snapped.
“Look Sunset, I need to talk to you. I know you hate me, but why?” Apple
Cinnamon asked.

“I don’t hate you. I just can’t get excited about you like mom.” Sunset said.

“Tell you what, if you want I’ll leave and never come back.” Apple Cinnamon told her.

“You promise?” Sunset asked.

“Honest. Just remember your mom is gonna be heartbroken. Please don’t forget about that.” Apple Cinnamon said as he walked away.

It hit Sunset harder than the Elements of Harmony. Then and there she realized two things. People all around her were falling in love. Her mom, Rarity, Applejack, and even Rainbow Dash had eyes for Soarin, a friend of Rarity’s boyfriend Thunderlane.

Would she want one of her friends not to date a guy or girl (she wasn’t sure if any swung that way) if it didn’t make them happy. No she wouldn’t deny that to Rarity, Applejack, or any of her friends. Why deny that to Luna. She was the one she owed everything to. No she wasn’t going to deny that to her.

Sunset walked around the side of the house where her mom was leaning up against the house with her hands behind her back and one leg on the ground the other was bent backwards with her foot resting on the house. Apple Cinnamon standing close to her.

“Listen you two. I don’t like this but I’m not gonna get in the way of you two. I just want...you two to be happy.” Sunset said and then she quickly walked away,

“I guess she’s ready to go home. Listen, she has homework to do tomorrow, but I can come and help tomorrow.” Luna told Apple Cinnamon.

“You get no argument for me, just tell Granny Smith you're coming. You need to be here before Sunrise to help with breakfast. I got an idea how about you spend the night. I can kick Braeburn out of the room.” Apple Cinnamon said pressing up against Luna.

“I have to take Sunset home first and then I can take the hayloft where she slept last night.” Luna said.

“Nonsense Braeburn can sleep out there, you and I can share a room, we're consenting adults.” Apple Cinnamon.

“Consenting? Whoa I’m not just jump in bed with you, I wouldn’t do it in someone else’s house either. You’re like every guy! You think with one thing.” Lina said, rising from her leaning position to a standing one then walking off..

“Luna, I didn’t mean it like that.” Apple CInnamon said, grabbing her wrist.

“Then what did you mean? Let me tell you something I didn’t bring up on our date when I was 18 I lost my virginity to a guy who wanted one thing-sex!! I ended up pregnant and he skipped town.” Luna told him.

“I thought Sunset was adopted?” Apple Cinnamon said.

“She is, once the papers come back from the court.” Luna said, turning her back to Apple Cinnamon.

Apple Cinnamon put his arms around Luna from behind. “What happened to your child?” He asked.

“I miscarried!” Luna said, starting to cry. Apple Cinnamon spun her around and pulled her into a big hug. Luna still had a hard time with this, but at least for this second she had someone to hold onto.

Sunset saw this and turned away to go to the car. She texted Pinkie Pie and asked about next Saturday. Last time she tried to do this, she ended up grounded. She was determined to make amends to all of her friends.

The harvest was finished on Sunday and Applejack told Sunset on Monday that her crating did help, this way it kept most of the workers in the orchard on Saturday.

But what happened on Monday was Pinkie said that made her day.

“Mrs. Cake was willing to give Sunset a chance to work on a Saturday. They were only open until 3 So they did breakfast and lunch at the shop. You and I are working together!” Pinkie said excitedly.

Most people in Canterlot if they went out for dinner on Saturday Night it was at one of the upper scale restaurants. Except the teens usually ate at the local fast food place. Sunset wanted to try that one time with her friends.

Also Sunset noticed something else on Monday. Rainbow Dash was hanging out with Thunderlane’s friend Soarin. Not that she minded it was good to see Rainbow Dash not be so tomboyish for once.

After school she was talking about working the day at the Sweet Shop when Pinkie dropped a bombshell.

“You know we have a big homecoming dance coming up before winter break Sunny?” Pinkie asked.

“Yeah why?” Sunset asked.

“Well there is this guy who graduated last year named Cheese Sandwich. He is helping me plan the dance isn’t that awesome!! He even said he would save a dance for me WOOHOO!!” Pinkie said, jumping almost a foot in the air.

“That’s really great Pinkie. You got this covered especially with his help.” Sunset said.

“You totally need to help us set up for the dance Sunset!! I would so like to work with a friend. It would be great!! Anyway, Saturday, be at the restaurant between 5-6. We open at six. See you then.” Pinkie said, almost bouncing off down the hall.

“I will never understand Pinkie if I live to be 100.” Sunset thought.

So Sunset not wanting to disappoint the Cakes again worked hard all week to be on her best behavior at home and school. In school she made sure to do all of her homework and at home do anything Luna asked, even some stuff Luna didn’t ask.

Finally on Thursday night Luna decided to see what had come over Sunset and why she was acting like this. It actually had her worried. So she stopped Sunset when she was coming back in from having done the laundry which Luna usually did.

“Sunset hold it.” Luna said, stopping Sunset who was folding clothes.

“Mom, I'm almost done.” Sunset complained.

“Sunset what did you do?” Luna asked.

“I was a queen bitch who split up five great friends, and tried to kill them with their new friend…” Sunset started.

“Sunset I mean why are you doing all these extra chores for?” Luna asked.
“I have to help out at The Sweet Shop this Saturday, I have been trying so hard
to not get grounded like last time. I need to make this up to them.” Sunset pleaded.

“What time do I have to have you there?” Luna asked, dreading the answer.

“About 5 am.” Sunset replied, trying to act innocent.

“Why can’t you, ever do one of your tour stops that start at a decent time? That means I need to get up at 4 am.” Luna whined

“I’m sorry mom, maybe I can stay with Pinkie Pie on Friday Night.” Sunset said.

“No, I'll take you. Just try to get more decent stops.” Luna said.

“Well Friday I’m gonna be the equipment girl for the volleyball team. Don’t worry, after practice Rainbow Dash’s parents said they would give me a lift home.” Sunset assured Luna.

“O.K. well it’s getting late and Friday and Saturday you got a lot to do. Let’s head for bed.” Luna said. Sunset headed for bed with no argument.

Friday dragged on for Sunset it seemed like it would never end. Finally the bell for lunch rang and for Sunset she knew it was the halfway mark. Sunset sat taking her usual seat at lunch. She was not as nervous as she used to be over it. Soon her friends joined her but they got to meet Fluttershy’s new boyfriend Sandalwood.

Sunset recognized him as one of the “eco-kids”. His trademark blue jeans, red t-shirt and brown vest with a recycling pin on it. Not to mention his trademark black hat looked more like a beret and his shoulder length green hair.

“Nice to meet you.” Sunset said, extending her hand.

“Same.” He said uneasily, shaking Sunset’s hand.

The rest of lunch for Sunset was a blur. She didn’t care that her friends were dating. She heard little of what was said as she was thinking about her helping Rainbow this afternoon and Pinkie tomorrow morning/afternoon.

Finally the last bell rang and Sunset headed over to see Luna. Upon entering the office she told Luna she was heading down to the gym. To help with the practice.

Arriving at the gym Rainbow met her and said “Practice starts soon. The coach is gonna go and open the supply closet, you hand out the volleyballs and we will split the team in half for practice. One group will represent the away team, you hand them red bibs to wear. Then just chill while we have practice. After practice you collect the equipment and put it away. In the closet, easy peasy, lemon squeezy.” Rainbow told her.

“Easy, peasy, lemon squeezy?” Sunset asked.

“Hanging around Pinkie Pie, rubs off on you.” Rainbow Dash says embarrassingly, rubbing the back of her neck.

Scootaloo came walking in the gym at this point and immediately walked over to Rainbow Dash. She was incensed.

“Ever since you started to hang out with Soarin, you forgot about your little sister. But I see as always you have time for She-Demon here.” Scootaloo said motioning towards Sunset.

“Her name is Sunset Shimmer and you will apologize to her right now.” Rainbow replied, getting in Scootaloo’s face.”

“I’m sorry you are a she-demon.” Scootaloo replied. Rainbow made a fist and actually raised it at Scootaloo. Sunset saw this was not going to end well and jumped off the bleachers and got between them.

“Rainbow, don't punch her! She’s your little sister!!” Sunset exclaimed.

“I don’t need you to defend me, you bitch!!” With that Scootaloo left the gym.

“Your aunts will hear about this Scootaloo!!” Rainbow yelled. The she turned to Sunset “Sunset I’m sorry about that, Scoots is jealous that I kinda have a boyfriend now.” Rainbow exclaimed.

“Kinda? Either you do or you don’t, you can’t kind of have a boyfriend.” Sunset pointed out.

“Then I guess I have a boyfriend then.” Rainbow replied and she went to get the coach to open the supply closet.

Sunset wheeled out the supply cart and handed people their volleyballs. After that Sunset relaxed doing some school work while they took a few laps. Then the coach split the team in half and motioned to Sunset who passed out the red bibs to the girls as they got set up for practice.

After practice Sunset cleaned up all the stuff and put it away. She was going to talk to Rainbow for a minute after the coach locked up the supply closet, but Rainbow had already left with Soarin.

“Damn it! She was supposed to give me a ride home. Must have gone with Soarin.” Sunset stomped her foot and tried not to scream out loud.

“Well I told Luna I was getting a ride home so if I hoof it I should make it home before dark.”. Sunset thought.

“Trixie, what are you doing here?” Sunset asked.

“Just out for a walk, I ended up over here at the school, I don’t even know why.” Trixie said, looking depressed.

“I was supposed to get a ride home with Rainbow Dash, but I guess she forgot about me when she left with Soarin’.” Sunset said.

“Nice.” Trixie replied sarcastically.

“I have to get home, mom will have a fit if I’m late. Luckily it’s not too far.” Sunset said.

“Mind if I walk with you?” Trixie asked.

“Sure as long as I’m not going to get ambushed again.” Sunset replied.

“I’m not with them anymore, c’mon Luna will want to see you get home safely.” Trixie said.

Sunset started walking home with Trixie. Sunset wondered why Trixie seemed so depressed she wasn’t sure how to approach this subject. So she just asked.

“Trixie what’s wrong? Why are you so sad?” Sunset asked,

Trixie took a deep breath and slowly let it out. She kept walking and looking down at the ground. Then finally spoke up.

“You know the homecoming dance coming up?” Trixie said.

“Yeah the dance a week before Christmas break, yeah what about it?” Sunset replied.

“You have a date?’ Trixie asked.

“No. I didn’t plan on going either.” Sunset replied.

“Why?” Trixie asked.

“All of my friends have a date or boyfriends. I don’t want to be standing on the sidelines when the slow music begins and they're all out there wrapped up in their guys arms. Also last time I went to a school dance it didn’t end well. “ Sunset replied.

“Oh I guess after the Fall Formal you’re not one for school dances.” Trixie replied.

“No I’m not.” Sunset replied.

“What if you had a date?” Trixie asked.

“I don’t know, I doubt anyone is ever going to want to date me. Not in this area anyway. Who are you going with?” Sunset asked, looking down as she kicked a stone on the sidewalk.

“I don’t have a date either. I was thinking I would sit at home that night.” Trixie replied.

“We should get together that night and do something. Just saying if we are gonna be friends we should hang out sometime.” Sunset replied, arriving at the apartment complex.

"Trixie likes that thought." Trixie replied.

“Trixie, you want to come in for a minute?” Sunset asked.

“Alright if Luna’s not going to be mad.” Trixie replied.

“No mom is ok with you.” Sunset replied.

“Ok, I will come in for a second.” Trixie said

“Trixie seems very depressed and apprehensive, maybe I can get her to stay for dinner, and get her to open up to me. She never seems like this during therapy but I only had one joint session with her.” Sunset thought as they climbed the staircase.

“Mom.” Sunset called as they entered the apartment.

“In here. ”Luna called from the kitchen. She walked out with her apron on and was surprised Sunset had someone with her. She was more surprised by who it was.

“Sunset, I expected you home earlier...why didn’t you tell me you were bringing a friend over? Luna asked.

“Mom Rainbow Dash and her boyfriend didn’t give me a ride home, they ditched me. I decided to walk home and ran into Trixie here and we walked home talking.” Sunset explained.

“O.K. Trixie, did you wish to join us for dinner?” Luna asked.

“The great and powerful Trixie...is very hungry so yes.” Trixie replied, pulling her cell phone out to call home.

While Trixie talked to her mom on the phone Sunset walked in to talk to her mom.

“Mom, are you ok with this? Sunset asked as Luna checked on dinner in the oven.

“Yes, Trixie is not on my shit list anymore. Just if you want to have a friend over for dinner next time let me know first.” Luna whispered.

With that Sunset walked back into the hallway. She noticed Trixie standing with her back to Sunset. Trixie had hung up the phone and seemed stressed. Sunset went over and touched Trixie’s shoulder. Trixie spun around and looked at her, with sad eyes but quickly regained composure.

“Trixie is everything alright?” Sunset asked tentatively.

“The Great and Powerful Trixie is always alright!” Trixie proclaimed,

“Uh-huh.” Sunset replied not believing it.

“Girls, Dinner!!” Luna called and with that Sunset and Trixie headed into the kitchen. Dinner was filled with light conversation at first then Sunset asked Trixie a question that had been bugging her.

“Trixie, do you know how the police found us that night I was kidnapped?” Sunset asked.

“No, Trixie was tied up in the storage room. Gilda said I led her right to you. Sadly The honest and apologetic Trixie did unintentionally lead her to you, when she came running to tell you about Gilda’s plan. She had someone track me.” Trixie explained.

“Sunset, Trixie. I know how.” Luna said.

“Are you gonna tell us?” Sunset asked.

“Sargent Shining Armor, said that a girl saw Sunset being brought in the warehouse, tied up and with a bag over her face. She called the police and told them the address and what was going on.” Luna said, her voice shaking slightly. Luna looked like she was about to let go with the tears, thinking about that night.

Sunset reached over and rubbed her mom’s arm and surprisingly Trixie did the same trying to calm a visibility upset Luna down. After a second she smiled and put her hands on both of the girls shoulders,

“Thank you, you two, I just get upset when I think about it. I almost lost my daughter and one of my students, who has become Sunset’s friend again.” Luna beamed at Sunset and Trixie.

“So Sunset, you're not going to the homecoming dance then?” Trixie said.

“Why not hun, aren’t your friends going?” Luna asked.

“Yes they are with their dates, besides the last time I went to a dance...it didn’t end well.” Sunset replied. Her mind went back to the Fall Formal.

“Here Sunset, how about you go with me?” Trixie said, grabbing her hand.

“Um Trixie, I don’t know about that.” Sunset replied.

“This way you have a “date” sort of and Trixie doubts anything is going to happen.” Trixie replied.

“What happens when they play slow music and everyone dances, you know close?” Sunset asked.

“Then you dance with Trixie.” Trixie replied.

“Well I would have a better time going to my Aunt’s and doing video games.” Sunset said.

“What if Aunt Chyrs is out on assignment?” Luna asked.

“Then I’ll stay here, you have the movie closet.” Sunset replied

“Sunset after the last dance your Aunt Celestia and I decided we are chaperoning the dance. I would feel better if you went.” Luna said.

“Mom, I'm gonna be sixteen soon. I think I can handle a few hours by myself.” Sunset replied.

“Well Sunset, the great and enlightened Trixie makes you this offer. Go to the dance with me if not then we can hang here or at my place. Also Trixie wants to know...what is this movie closet?”

“Before we take her home for the night, can I show her?” Sunset asked Luna.

“Go ahead.” Luna replied.

“Come in the living room, Trixie.” Sunset said, leading the way with a sweep of her arm. Trixie got up and followed Sunset into the living room across to the far side where the closet was.

“Go ahead, slide the door open.” Sunset said, trying not to giggle.

Trixie took the knob and slid the door open and took a step in and was in shock, way more than Sunset was when she first saw it. But then again Trixie hadn’t been blasted with the Elements of Harmony an hour ago.

“What the frack.” Trixie said in shock.

“Impressive huh?” Luna asked, walking into the living room.

“I have never heard of some of these.” Trixie said rifling through a few DVD’s .

“Now Trixie I don’t mean to be rude but I have to help out at the Sweet Shop tomorrow 5-3 so I have to cut this short. I would really like to hang out again.” Sunset said.

“Trixie, where do you live?” Luna asked, walking out of the kitchen with her car keys .

“Oh Vice Principal Luna, you don’t need to do that, the great and powerful Trixie can walk it. ”Trixie said.

“Trixie I’m not letting one of my students walk home when it’s getting dark, especially one of Sunset’s friends.” Luna demanded standing there looking more like the Vice Principal.

"Trixie take my advice, don't argue with Luna, you're not gonna win." Sunset said walking up next to her.
Trixie relented and told Luna she felt bad making Luna have to go through that but like Sunset she knew once Luna stood firm on something, she wasn’t going to budge.

“Sunset I’m gonna take Trixie home, you need to get to bed for work in the morning. I come back, you better be asleep.” Luna told her.

“Ok mom.” Sunset said.

After saying good night to Trixie and her mom Sunset went into the bathroom
and opened up the medicine cabinet. She knew she was going to need help falling asleep tonight. After taking two Benadryl Sunset had no problem falling asleep.

When the alarm went off at 4:01 that morning Sunset dragged herself out of bed and threw on her jeans and purple sweater. When Luna knocked on the door Sunset was sitting on the bed putting her boots on.

Luna grabbed something for Sunset to eat this morning. Knowing two Pop-Tarts was not going to be the best thing for breakfast but they worked in a pinch. Sunset quickly ate them and a glass of milk and was out the door. Luna was right on her heels.

Sunset dozed off in the car on the way to the Sweet Shop. Luna gave her a gentle shake on her shoulder to wake her. Sunset noticed a light on in the back and knew someone was there. With a quick kiss from Luna, Sunset thanked her for the ride in.

Sunset went up and knocked on the door and Pinkie came bouncing up with keys and let Sunset in and then locked the door.

“Sunny I am so happy you’re gonna be here today!! It’s gonna be so much fun and Mrs. Cake is gonna need your help in the kitchen and dish room!” Pinkie said.

“Ok so what do I do first?” Sunset asked Pinkie.

“Oh good morning Sunset.” Greeted Mrs. Cake.

“Good morning Mrs. Cake” Sunset replied.

“As for your question, go help Pinkie take all the chairs off the tables and then you can sweep or mop in the dining room before we open, we do a mop at the beginning and the end of the day. Sweep whenever you can. But you’re gonna be in the back mostly.” Mrs. Cake explained.

Sunset took chairs and mopped the floor after Pinkie swept and Pinkie was happy with Sunset helping she was ahead of schedule.

After making sure the restrooms were stocked and clean. Mr. Cake turned the lights on and unlocked the doors. In walked an older customer who came every morning to get his coffee.

"Grand Pear good morning." Mr. Cake replied.

"Carrot Cake how are ya. My usual please." He replied.

After that the morning was slow until about 8:00. Sunset did a couple dishes and stocked up the bagels behind the counter. But mostly worked in the kitchen/dish room.

About mid-morning Sunset stopped and wiped her brow after bringing dishes out for the cakes to serve breakfast on. Mrs. Cake noticed Sunset was working hard. It pleased to see this former “meanie” (as Pinkie Pie referred to her until recently) being humble, obedient and actually nice to her, Pinkie, and the few customers she ran into.

“Is it as hard as it was at the apple harvest last weekend?” Mrs. Cake asked.

“Not quite, but you guys do a good business here on Saturday’s.” Sunset replied.

“Yeah the weekends are busy, weekdays after about 8:00 it dies here except for a few retirees who come in here and there. Mr. Cake and I make our money on the weekends.” Mrs. Cake told her.

“That makes sense, well I better get back to work.” Sunset replied.

It was a normal Saturday Morning which Sunset found to be busy but she didn’t normally work at the restaurant either. Still Sunset felt she was making up for past misdeeds by helping out.

During the lunch rush, Sunset went out onto the floor and bussed several tables to keep the rush going but was back in the kitchen/dish room washing dishes and helping with the cooking. Around Ten minutes of three the door opened as Pinkie was about to lock it.

“Now ma’am just so you we close in ten...Oh Hi Vice Principal Luna.” Pinkie said turning red.

“Are you here for your girl?” Mrs. Cake asked.

Luna smiled and nodded “Yep whenever Sunset is ready.” She replied.

Sunset walked out of the kitchen in an apron and saw Luna. “Hi mom, be done in a little bit.

“Sunset. Just sweep and mop up the kitchen and you can head out with your mom.” Mrs. Cake told her.

“O.k. Sunset grabbed the broom. Pinkie started putting the chairs up and locked up after the last customers left. Luna was the only one sitting in the restaurant. She was on her phone texting with Apple Cinnamon.

Finally Sunset was done cleaning up and she hung up the apron and thanked Mrs. Cake for the chance to help out today. Pinkie came bouncing over and hugged Sunset.

“Thanks Sunny, I see now you're not a big meanie, but definitely changed. Thanks for today.!!’ Pinkie exclaimed.

“Thanks Pinkie I think.” Sunset replied, slightly confused. Figured her friends knew she wasn’t mean anymore. But it was Pinkie and she was told when it came to Pinkie just go with it.

Luna put her phone away and took out her keys. She was glad this one was over. Next week she could sleep a few hours later before dropping her off at the Canterlot Animal Shelter.

Canterlot State Prison that same morning….

The buzzer sounded at 6 am and all the doors opened and the inmates all stepped out in front of their cells. The Captain of the guards walked out into the center of the prison and walked up to the second tier gangplank connecting the second level cells.

Other guards walked out to their stations and the captain took out her clipboard to make sure everyone checked out.

“Give me a count.” She said A couple of guards reported “clear” but then came the call from one of the female guards at the end.

“Woman missing on tier two cell number 245!” She shouted.

The captain took out her clipboard and looked down at the names and saw who it was.

“Gilda Griffon get out here, you're holding up the show girl!” The captain shouted. No one came out of the cell.

“Don’t make me come down there, I’ll thump your skull for you.” She warned. When no one came out of the cell. The captain with two guards started down the walkway in front of the cells. All the prisoners took a step back.

“Damnit Griffon you’re putting me behind. I got a schedule to keep! You better be sick or dead in there I shit you not. You hear me?!” The Captain yelled coming down the walkway.

Rounding the bars in front of the cell The captain saw the inside of the cell.

“Oh my holy God!!” She exclaimed.

That morning while Sunset was working at the Sweet Shop...

Rarity’s House...

Rarity had taken the day off from work to spend time with Thunderlane. Sweetie Belle went out with her friends and her parents were out of town for a week.

Thunderlane and Rarity were locked in a passionate French kiss. She pushed him down on the bed and laid on top of him. Thunderlane couldn’t help but run his hands all over Rarity’s body.

Rarity started unbuttoning Thunderlane’s shirt and began to kiss on his chest. Then Thunderlane rolled over to be on top and began to move his hands up Rarity’s skirt rubbing his hands across her butt as he kissed on her neck. Rarity couldn’t help but let out a soft moan as she liked being kissed on her neck.

Rarity started undoing Thunderlane’s pants and he looked down at his girl.

“Rare what are you doing?” He asked.

“Trust me you are going to like this.” She smiled back.

Sweet Apple Acres…

“Well the morning chores are done now so Apple Bloom so you go hang out with her friends at the clubhouse.” Applejack told her. Apple Bloom ran off to join her friends

Applejack just did her sweeping off the front porch, during the week the apples had been picked up and sold off so this was a slow season for the Apples.

Applejack knew spring would be here soon enough and was thinking about the Christmas party that they were going to have at the Apple Family house with many relatives. Her friends and Family, mainly Sunset Shimmer, it was going to be her first Christmas party in their world as she had spent the last few alone.

She was also going to invite Toe Tapper. He was shy around her but got him to open up some. Applejack also wanted to see if she could swing it with the girls to let Toe Tapper sit with them one day during lunch.

Applejack knew it was a risk as lunchtime was the girls get together time, but she wanted Toe Tapper to loosen up.

Canterlot Animal Shelter that same morning…

Fluttershy just finished her rounds feeding most of the animals from the shelter. This was her Saturday Morning routine and when she felt most happy. Sunset had once said “No wonder all your best friends are stray animals.” Since then she had apologized profusely for that remark. Though there was a ring of truth to it.

Fluttershy was happy that Sunset would be joining her next Saturday to help out at the shelter. Sunset came there the day after the formal and this time when Sunset and her hugged Sunset didn’t pull away in fear.

Fluttershy really cared for Sunset and even though she and Sandalwood had started dating she was not gonna forget Sunset. It was a promise. Fluttershy went back to feeding the animals, feeling quite content.

Canterlot High School….

Rainbow Dash had just completed some laps and was getting ready for Volleyball practice. She played soccer in fall, indoor volleyball in the winter, and track in the spring.

Rainbow always did her homework in study hall or as much as she could. She did a lot when she first came home for about an hour. One thing Rainbow made was time for her friends. Now splitting that time with Soarin’ one thing did occur to her later at night was she accidentally ditched Sunset. She was gonna call and apologize to her.to her later after practice.

For now it was volleyball practice and Rainbow had to keep her mind on the mock game the Varsity was gonna play against the Junior Varsity team. She noticed the Freshman team walked in with her “honorary sister” as co-captain. She couldn’t have been more proud of her. One more thing to mentally note was to congratulate Scootaloo then call Sunset.

“Hey Rainbow, get your head in the game!!” The Coach yelled, tossing her the ball.

(Most importantly) Canterlot State Prison…

The warden had notified the police and the FBI about the escape. Chrysalis and Shining Armor were there and looking over the cell. Chrysalis was very upset over this. This impacted Sunset’s safety and her niece was now in danger.

“What do you mean she wasn’t here? Don’t say that to me. Don’t say that to me again. ” Chrysalis said to the guard.

“But ma’am, she wasn’t.” The guard said.

“I can see that. Do you think I’m blind? Is that what you're saying? Am I blind?” Chrysalis said angrily. Shining Armor put his arm on his shoulder and pulled her back.

“Shining Armor, what is that in your hands?” Chrysalis asked, pointing to the clipboard in his hands.

“Last night’s count.” He said. Chrysalis walked over and looked at the count

“Shining Armor, are you Blind? You see Griffon’s name there? I do, right there Griffon.” Chrysalis said forcefully and pointed to the clipboard. Chrysalis walked to the back of the cell. Then spun around and looked at the guard and Shining Armor.

“She was in her cell at lights out, stands to reason she’d still be here in the morning. I want her found! Not tomorrow, not after breakfast, NOW!!” Chrysalis commanded.

“Yes ma’am!” The guard said and headed out of the cell. Shining Armor then motioned to have Greta brought in.

“Well?” Asked Chrysalis.

“Well what?” Greta replied.

“The warden says he sees you two all the time, you think as thieves you are. She must have said something.” Chrysalis said.

“No ma’am not a word.” Greta replied.

Chrysalis smiled and put hands up. “Lord it’s a miracle girl up and vanished like a fart in the wind!”

The Warden at the time came back to the cell. “Agent Chrysalis a quick word.”

They walked down to the warden’s office where he told her to have a seat.

“You can’t abuse my guards like this. Why are you so upset? I mean I want her caught too, but why are you acting like this?” He asked.

“She has attacked, kidnapped and tried to kill my niece.” Chrysalis said.

“Then I will call the bureau and ask that you be reassigned. You are too close to this case.” The Warden said taking his phone out to make the call. Chrysalis got up and left, she had to tell Luna.

“Agent Chrysalis, this is not to be broadcast just yet.” The Warden told her.

“Fine but I need to tell my sister and her daughter.” Chrysalis said.

“What are we gonna do!!” Exclaimed Sunset. She was pacing back and forth.

Chrysalis had arrived that afternoon after Sunset got done helping at the Sweet Shop. She had to tell Sunset and Luna the news, especially Sunset.

“Relax Sunset!! I won’t let her get near you.” Luna said.

“OK Luna, Sunset pack the stuff you need. You are coming to stay with me. Gilda doesn’t know where I live.” Chrysalis said.

“What if she has someone watching?” Sunset asked.

“I need you to trust me, both of you. Most of the Diamond Dogs are still in jail. Or in supervised custody.” Chrysalis said.

“I need to take a stand.” Sunset said.

“What do you mean?” Luna asked.

“Mom I can’t keep running, this is only gonna end when I am dead or she is. I’m gonna have Rainbow teach me self defense. Aunt Chrysalis, I want you to show me how to handle a firearm.” Sunset answered back.

“I forbid you to use a gun.” Luna said.

“Luna, she is making perfect sense, but in the meantime, let's head over to my place tonight. So get packing you guys you’re gonna be there for a while.” Chrysalis said.

That night Chrysalis set up her guest room for Sunset. She figured the teen girl would want her privacy. Luna was going to take Chrysalis’ room for the night and Luna was still against this.

“Chrysalis I don’t like this one bit. It would be better if I stayed with Celestia.” Luna said.

“No it wouldn't, I can protect Sunset better here. In fact I will talk with Shining Armor as well as the bureau to see if I can get you two into protective custody.” Chrysalis said.

“Then we can’t stay with you.” Luna said.

“Listen, we will work something out. Anyway I’m off the case by order of my superior Deputy Director Alvin Kersh. He said I’m too close to this case.” Chrysalis continued on.

“Chrysalis, you designed this house, making it almost impossible for people to get in. Are you sure Sunset and I will be safe here?” Luna asked.

“All of my doors are locked tight at night, same with my windows. I have alarms on my doors and windows and the side garage door has so much stuff piled in front of it someone would kill themselves trying to get in. Plus I have two guns right where I can get at them. Plus Gilda doesn't know where I live.” Chrysalis assured Luna.

About this time Sunset came back in the living room having heard everything that Chrysalis had said. She went over and hugged Chrysalis. Chrysalis gladly returned the hug.

“Thanks for being a great aunt.” Sunset said.

Just then the doorbell rang. Luna and Sunset looked towards the door. Chrysalis walked over and looked out the peephole. She turned around looking upset.

“I need to step out for a minute. I’ll be ok, and stay away from the door.” Chrysalis warned. She stepped out the door and Sunset and Luna had expected to hear gunshots, but all they heard was low talking.

“What do you want?” Asked Chrysalis, stepping out the door.

“Hello Agent Chrysalis.” Said a man dressed in a black suit and white dress shirt and dark blue tie. He had grey hair mixed in with his black hair. In his right hand he held a lit cigarette.

“Well let me ask you a question, do you believe in life out there. He said motioning to the sky.

“No. Why should I?” Chrysalis asked back.

“Funny you say no.” He replied, motioning toward Chrysalis’s house.

“You find it funny, that I don’t believe?” Chrysalis replied, trying to keep her calm.

“To doubt it is more than a failure of the imagination. It is a failure to recognize the limits of our own stupidity, the tenacity of our science, the rudiment of our tools. We listen, search, and hope for a sign. As if our eyes and ears aren’t good enough, our brains large enough, our egos small enough.

“I’m an old man now, and I will leave my mark upon history. More than presidents, or tyrants. I don’t ask for loyalty and trust, the fleeting bonds of men. I ask only for the years to show my sons and their sons that I was right and what their father did had to be done.” He finished with a puff on his cigarette.

“Anyone ever told you about cancer?” Chrysalis asked.

“Yes and I outlived them all.” He replied.

“So was that the purpose of this visit?” Chrysalis asked.

“There are forces coming that are coming for an alien pony, who is also a she-demon.” He said taking a puff on his cigarette.

“Who? Gilda Griffon.” Chrysalis asked.

“Way stronger than her, she's a punk. Oh I don’t know how that pony got here but we will find out. ” He said.

“You stay away from my niece, she is a human being. I have seen her birth certificate, Social Security card, and is about to have a driver’s license. People seem to think she’s an alien for some stupid reason.” Chrysalis replied.

“Hmmm.” He said slowly walking away.

Chrysalis turned around and went back into the house. Sunset was standing there looking at her with her arms crossed.

“Who was that? Who’s coming for me? And don’t play games with me.” Sunset asked.

"You were listening at the door weren't you?" Chrysalis asked, feeling very cross with Sunset.

“I don’t know his name but he has harassed agents before. You know two of the agents who rescued you Mulder and Scully; he has harassed them on numerous occasions. They call him the cigarette smoking man. He usually doesn’t bother me.

As for who is coming he feels Gilda is a minor threat. I don’t know who is coming for you. He seems very interested in the portal to Equestria. I think things are gonna get worse before better. But we are here in the house and are safe for now. Are you two hungry?

After dinner, Sunset did her homework at the dining room table and then she got a text. She picked up her phone to see who texted her.

Rarity: Hi darling, I know your on a good will tour. I was wondering if you could help me model some of my new fashions. Hit me up

Sunset: Where would we do the modeling?

Rarity: My house why?

Sunset: One minute.

Sunset walked into the den and Luna and Chrysalis were watching TV. Sunset cleared her throat. Luna and Chrysalis jumped and turned around.

“Is something wrong honey?” Luna asked.

“Mom, Aunt Chrys I got a problem.” Sunset said.

“What’s up kiddo?” Asked Chrysalis.

“How am I going to finish my good will tour now?” Sunset asked.

“Well I will go with you to the shelter on Saturday.” Chrysalis said.

“Well Rarity wants me to help her with modeling a few of her outfits this week.” Sunset stated very timidly.

“Usually after school I wouldn’t let you leave this house, but as long as I can arrange a pick up for you, you can do it.” Luna stated.

“Thank you mom you're the best.” Sunset launched herself into Luna.

After wrapping her in a big hug Sunset ran back into the phone and texted Rarity.

Sunset: Mom said it’s ok what day you want to do this?

Rarity: Friday Night work for you?

Sunset: Not too late I have to finish my goodwill tour by volunteering at the shelter on Saturday.

Rarity: Then you're done?

Sunset: Yep Helped Applejack, Rainbow, and Pinkie Pie. I will help you Friday, then Fluttershy on Saturday and I am done.

Rarity: How about you spend the night here? First let me see if mom or dad will drop you off at the shelter Saturday.

Sunset: Let me check with mom. I’ll let you know at school Monday.

Rarity: Okay Ciao.

After that Sunset went back to doing her homework, finishing it up late Saturday night falling asleep at the table in the dining room. It dawned on Chrysalis and Luna that they hadn’t seen Sunset in a while. Luna was concerned as it was getting late.

“Have you seen Sunset in the last 3 hours?” Luna asked.

“No I haven’t. Let’s see where she is.” Chrysalis said switching off Saturday Night Live that Luna and her had been watching.

Luna’s heart melted seeing her daughter asleep at the table. Chrysalis started cleaning up her school books, then an evil smile crossed her face. Luna looked at Chrysalis with concern Chrysalis slammed the books down (not real hard) right by Sunset who shot up from her sleep.

“That wasn’t funny Aunt Chrys!” Sunset shouted rather annoyed.

“It was hilarious.” Chrysalis said laughing.

Then Chrysalis looked at Luna who was standing there with her lips pursed and arms crossed. Looking at Chrysalis with a look that could have soured milk. Chrysalis sighed. “What?”

“That was a sweet sight. I was gonna pick my daughter up and carry her to bed. You ruined it.” Luna scolded her.

“Luna relax, it was just a joke, what is up with you?” Chrysalis asked.

“I was gonna do something sweet with Sunset.” Luna shot back.

“O.K. I’m sorry damn.” Chrysalis said walking down the hall, went into her room and slammed the door. Sunset got upset and started crying almost as if on cue.

“What’s wrong?” Luna asked.

“It upsets me when you and Aunt Chrysalis fight. I’m afraid you're gonna fight and she’s going to go one way and your gonna go the other way and I’m gonna lose my aunt.” Sunset said tears in her eyes, and voice breaking.

“Oh my little worrybug.” Luna said wrapping Sunset in a big hug.

“Mom it scares me, because you’re something good, so is Aunt Chrysalis and it scares me, because nothing good in my life ever sticks around.” Sunset told Luna.

Luna understood exactly what Sunset was saying. Sunset was the best thing to ever happen to Luna and Luna everyday was scared knowing one day Sunset would leave her. Sunset assured Luna she would stay in town.

Luna was trying her best to be a mom to Sunset while she was there. Luna admitted this was all new and scary to her. Being a mom she had no idea how it worked. She learned to feel her way through this and put the pieces together as you go.

“Sunset we’ll talk to Aunt Chrysalis in the morning, and you can voice your concerns to her. But now I see why you get so upset, when we fight.” Luna said.

“Exactly, I love you and Aunt Chrysalis, and the Rainbooms and I even like Trixie. It is nice to have everything I thought I would never would. Family and friends, I just wish I knew why Gilda thinks killing me is a good thing.” Sunset said.

“Sunset your different, technically an alien. Human nature is people fear what they don’t understand, fear what is different.” Luna explained.

“Wish I knew where Gilda was.” Sunset said.

“You and me both.” Luna said putting her arms around her.

Earlier in the day at Canterlot State Prison…

Two FBI agents were investigating the breakout of Gilda Griffon. They had found no evidence on how she vanished. One of the agents did have a theory.

“Mulder, do you really think this was an alien abduction?” Agent Dana Scully asked.

“Scully we went over this cell, it’s like she just vanished. I am out of ideas.” Agent Fox Mulder replied.

Scully went over the cell again when she noticed something .The grill in the back of the cell had been bothering her. She walked over to it.

“Scully what did you find?” Mulder asked.

“You said alien abduction. I say she went and dug the grill out of the wall and the area around it and with cardboard and paint made a fake one.” Scully said giving the crate a slight kick and the cardboard fell down to reveal a hole. The guards never noticed because the cardboard had been painted to look like the wall.

“I think we got a gopher, she probably went up the ventilation shaft.” Scully said.

“Made it up on the roof then, but then where did she go from there? Shooting down the drainpipe?” Mulder asked.

“May have had some supplies bed sheets or whatever to make a rope, you can get anything you want in prison, including something to dig the grate out and the wall around it.” Scully informed him.

“Well we should report this and also call agent Chrysalis. She’ll want to know about this.” Mulder said taking out his cell phone.

Chrysalis just entered her bedroom and saw she had a voice message from Mulder. She heard how Gilda got out of jail and that she was still on the run. Chrysalis armed her security system, took her gun and put it in it’s holster. She hung it on the one bedpost closest to her resting slightly on the headboard.

She knew Gilda was out there but wanted to be left alone right now. She was ready to move on. Luna was never going to want her romantically and while that broke Chrysalis’s heart she had to come to terms with it.

Chrysalis got her Ipod out from one of her drawers and listened to some break up songs and literally cried herself to sleep. It was time for her to move on. But where she was going was not sure.

Luna was feeling terrible too. She looked at her phone for some reason. She was surprised to see a text from Apple Cinnamon. All the text said was he had some big plans and he would let her know more when the time came. Luna went to sleep wondering what big plans there were and what was in their future.

Sunset fell asleep and awoke or so she thought surrounded by a white light then everything went dark around her. The demon Sunset Satan appeared before her floating in front of her and laughed maniacally. Sunset covered her ears as she hated that ominous sound.

“What do you want with me??!!” Sunset yelled at her.

“HAHAHA Oh Sunset this is too precious, you and Luna and Chrysalis all together one happy family isn’t that so cute. Too bad it will be ripped away one day real soon.” The Demon replied.

“You will not harm my family!! You hear me, I stopped you once I will stop you again!!” Sunset told her.

“You stopped me? Check your facts little girl. Twilight and her friends stopped you. You know the ones that consider you their charity case.” The Demon corrected Sunset.

“No they are my real friends in fact in six days time I will be done with my goodwill tour and they will see I have changed.” Sunset replied back forcefully pointing at the demon.

“Oh really? They feel sorry for you. Nothing more than that.”

Sunset clenched her fists and scowled at her demon form. It took everything from her. But it gave her friends and a family she was going to defend everything that she held dear at any cost.

“I have seven friends, a mother ,two aunts, and a much better life. That all came because of you. So if anything you blessed me and didn’t destroy me. Besides you are in my past, and my past does not define me, because my past is not today.” Sunset told the demon confidently.

“HAHAHA you are made to suffer. I gave you power and you threw it away. We are linked Sunset and you know it. By day I dog your steps by night I haunt your dreams. You can never be rid of me. Because I am you, you’re true from. You’re not a human or a unicorn you are me!!” The Demon replied back confidently.

“Why me, why are you picking on me??” Sunset demanded.

“I’m telling you the truth little girl. You’re just afterbirth, slithered out of your mothers filth. They should have put you on a glass jar on the mantelpiece.”

“No it’s not true!!!” Sunset sobbed.

“Now to prove it to you.” The Demon said as she lunged for Sunset.

“NOOOOOOOOO!!!” Sunset Screamed out in her sleep.

Luna flew into Sunset’s room followed by Chrysalis. Sunset sat on the bed with her knees up to her chest, her head on her arms that were resting on top of her knees crying.

Luna sat down on the edge of the bed and tried to console Sunset. Chrysalis sat on the other side of Sunset rubbing her back. Chrysalis felt so bad for her niece, this made her want a daughter, but what are the chances of a girl from another world falling into her lap like Luna. Chrysalis knew it was none.

Chrysalis got up and left the room and went to get something to drink. She felt out of place with Luna holding Sunset. She went out to the kitchen and got a flavored water and sat at the kitchen table. After a few minutes she decided it was time to go back to bed.

Walking back to her bedroom Chrysalis saw the light go out in Sunset’s room but Luna didn’t come out. Chrysalis walked down the hall and peeked in there was Luna laying in bed with Sunset. Holding her in her arms and both were already asleep or so it seemed. Chrysalis sighed and went back to bed.

The next morning Chrysalis was awoken by a knocking at the door. She looked at the clock it was 9:00 and knew no one would be knocking with any good news.

Chrysalis quickly threw on a robe and looked at the peephole. It was a man and woman in suits and a police officer.

“This can’t be good.” Chrysalis thought. Luna was coming down the hallway when Chrysalis opened the door.

“Sorry to disturb you this morning, but we need to speak to Sunset Shimmer.” The man said.

“Who are you?” Chrysalis said as they entered the house.

“We are from DCF. Department of Children and Families. We have reason to suspect that Sunset Shimmer who is here is or has been abused.”

“You gotta be shitting me pal.” Chrysalis said.

“Ma’am step aside.” The police officer said shoving Chrysalis aside.

“You don’t shove me aside, mister.” Chrysalis said.

The officer turned to her and said “Listen lady I don’t know who you are…” The officer began.

“Special Agent Chrysalis United States FBI.” Chrysalis told him.

“Yeah ok whatever.” The Officer said.

By this time Sunset Shimmer had been woken up by the commotion and walked groggily out into the living room where Luna and Chrysalis were talking with what looked like two officials and a cop.

“What the hell?” Asked Sunset.

“Miss Shimmer we’re going to need to ask you some questions.” The lady said.

“Who are you?” Sunset asked.

“We are from the Department of Children and Families.” The lady replied.

“They think I’m abusing you.” Luna said sarcastically.

A busy night.

“ABUSING ME??!!” Sunset cried.

Chrysalis stepped up in front of the police officer. “I work for the FBI. I demand to see a warrant to enter the premises!” Chrysalis demanded.

The Officer pulled out a warrant and showed it to Chrysalis. It said they had the right to enter the premises for an investigation.

“Well this isn’t Sunset and Luna’s permanent address.” Chrysalis added.

Luna tied her robe and walked into the living room to talk to the two officials from DCF. She had to stay calm so they didn’t think she ever flew off the handle with Sunset.

“I don’t understand why you think I’m abusing my daughter. I took her off the
streets. Gave her a place to sleep, food to eat, bought her clothes to wear, make sure she bathes and shaves her legs too. I make sure she does her homework and enforce a bedtime with her.” Luna explained.

“Can we see her room?” The lady asked.

“Sure but she and I don’t live here, we’re staying here for a little while but we live
at my apartment.” Luna said staying calm.

“And you don’t have a warrant to enter those premises.” Chrysalis added smugly. At that point there was a knock at the door and Chrysalis went to answer the door. She was happy to see the two agents at the door.

“What is this a trench coat convention?” The one official asked, seeing Mulder and Scully walk into the living room.

“What is going on here?” Mulder asked.

“They think I’m abusing my daughter Sunset. They want to examine her and see her room at the apartment.” Luna said,

“You want to examine her? Then it would be a good idea if I did it.” Scully said.

“Why you?” Asked the lady official.

“Because I graduated from Medical School at Stanford University. You can ask my partner how much I know about medicine.” Scully replied

“So why are you working as an FBI agent?” The woman asked.

“Because I thought being an FBI agent would help me. Now do you want me to examine her or not?” Scully said leading Sunset to her room.

“Fine but I must be present.” The lady said.

“What about what I want?” Sunset asked almost in tears.
Scully walked up and put her hands on Sunset’s shoulders. Put her forehead to Sunset’s forehead. “I will be gentle, I promise you.” Scully said.

“I want my mom .” Sunset said.

“Ok Miss Luna, come on down here.” Scully said motioned Luna to join them in Sunset’s room.

“She can’t be present while you do this. ”The Official said,

“I’m allowing it.” Scully said.

“Under whose authorization?” The woman asked,

“The United States Government, that’s who.” Scully said showing her badge.

“Fine go ahead.” She said.

The three women walked into Sunset’s temporary bedroom. Sunset had to strip
down to her underwear. Sunset was embarrassed but if it cleared Luna’s name that’s what mattered.

Scully did her examination of Sunset. She did notice two thin scars on her back but made sure the lady did not see them. Scully made a mental note to ask Sunset about them. Scully did look over Sunset’s arms and had to ask about the fading scars.

“Sunset I have to ask, these scars on your arms, do you cut?” Scully asked.

“I did, before Luna took me in and off the streets.” Sunset replied.

“When was the last time?” The official asked.

“A few months ago.” Sunset lied.

“Why did you stop?” The official asked.

“Luna took me in, and showed me someone gave a damn about me. Thanks to
Luna I have a mom, two aunts, and six wonderful friends. Five of which are close enough that I consider them sisters.” Sunset explained.

“You don’t consider Trixie a sister?’ Luna asked.

“Trixie and I are still getting to know each other.” Sunset replied to her, as Scully
looked at her scars.

“Sunset I need to ask your mom to leave the room, just for a few minutes, ok?” Scully asked. Sunset nervously nodded yes. Luna regretfully got up and left.

“Sunset I need to know do you feel in danger here?” The official asked.

“Yes.” Sunset replied.

“Why?” The official pressed.

“If Agent Scully and her partner out there catch Gilda Griffon, I will feel tons safer.” Sunset said motioning to Scully.

“Do you feel in Danger with Luna or your Aunt Chrysalis is what I ment?” The official asked.

“NO!! THEY TOOK ME IN, WITHOUT QUESTION.GAVE ME A PLACE TO STAY!! She fed me not literally, took me clothes shopping, and gave me a room at the apartment. It's a safe place and I love my mom. She doesn’t hurt me or abuse mentally, verbally, sexually, or physically!!” Sunset shouted, standing up shaking, tears in her eyes.

“About the scars on your arms…” The official said.

“Mom has me in counseling, helping me deal with my hostage situation, and
emotional problems-showing she cares!” Sunset shouted. At this point Scully put her hands on Sunset’s shoulders.

“I think it’s safe to say that Sunset is not being abused and is in no danger with Luna.” Scully said.

“We still need to see the apartment. But that can wait a little bit.” The official said.

With that Sunset got dressed again and ran out to the living room and clung to Luna. Luna returned the hug. All Sunset wanted was Luna to hold her and tell her it was gonna be ok.

Chrysalis and Mulder were talking in the living room, Mulder told her about what they discovered at the prison. Mulder said the local police and bureau had been notified.

The male official was looking over the house until Chrysalis told him this is not
where Luna and Sunset live permanently. They were staying here in protective custody until they caught Gilda Griffon.

Luna and Sunset were eventually forced to take the officials to their home.

Sunset showed them her room, clothes in her dresser, and closet although most were at Chrysalis place. The bed was neatly made and clean, the room was pretty neat and the officials noticed she had a TV and desk to do school work. All things considered the apartment seemed to be in good order.

Luna made a follow-up appointment with the officials but for now everything
seemed good. Luna and Sunset headed back to Chrysalis’s house to give her the good news.

“Thank God.” Chrysalis said collapsing on the couch. “If I find out who did this I am going to break my foot off in their ass.” She added.

“Where are the other two agents?” Sunset asked.

“Oh Mulder and Scully had to get back to work. With a lot of her allies still locked
up and assets gone. They figure Gilda will try to enter her old life probably through her family. That’s when they plan to get her.” Chrysalis told her.

“I need a drink after this. Then I need a hot bath.” Luna said.

“Me too!!” Sunset declared.

“No kiddo, no alcohol for you. Remember the last time.” Chrysalis said following them into the kitchen.

The rest of the night after Luna and Chrysalis had a stiff drink and all three had
relaxing hot baths. Sunset went to bed exhausted. Chrysalis stepped outside just to get a breath of air and check to make sure her car was locked. She heard footsteps behind her.

“Why didn't you tell me they were coming?” Chrysalis asked not even turning around.

“I'm not supposed get involved, especially with Mulder in the area.” The cigarette man replied.

“This was your warning DCF?” Chrysalis asked.

“Part of it. I know since your niece and another girl brought “magic” into this world, something is on the horizon. What I’m not sure. I warned you to make sure you made it through.” He replied taking a puff of his cigarette.

“Where is Gilda then?” Asked Chrysalis.

“Making a deal.” He replied

“With who and for what?” Asked Chrysalis.

“You can send Sunset and Luna home now. Sunset has not yet fulfilled her purpose. We will see to it she is kept safe.” He replied.

“What assurance do I have?” Chrysalis replied.

“Your niece is special, we are not going to come after her. We will be watching though.” He replied. With that a black car pulled up with tinted windows and he went over and opened the back door.

“Wait at least tell me where Gilda is.” Chrysalis said.

“Being taken care of, we have that situation handled. Remember your niece is protected.” With that he got in the car and left.

Chrysalis stood there as a chill blew through the winter air. She made sure the cars were locked and went inside for the night.

Elsewhere in Canterlot that night....

“But being a king with a foreign country you can help me.” A young woman replied.

“But If I take you with me, what is in it for me I don’t normally harbor criminals Gilda Griffon.” The King replied.

Stepping into the light Gilda noticed he had a grey complexion and jet black hair.

Perfectly white teeth. His red eyes made her nervous. His deep voice did little to make her feel better.

“I have associates here in Canterlot…”She began

“That are all locked up behind bars or under house arrest! DO NOT WASTE MY WITHTIME WITH A STREET GANG, THAT BOTCHED A KIDNAPPING!! Now give me something I can use, or this meeting is over.” The king replied.

“I know where there is an alien she demon. I know it sounds crazy but it’s true.” Gilda said.
The king leaned back in his chair as if to ponder it. He was actually looking behind her to two men in black suits, one of which had an earpiece and nodded to the king.

“Very well, I will give you passage on my ship. We sail with the tide.” The king said, motioning to the agents that the deal was made. With that they walked out the door.

“Thank you very much, your majesty!” Gilda said happily.

“Your majesty? I am a king but I’m not used to such formalities just call me Sombra.” King Sombra replied.

In the room adjacent the cigarette man was talking with another man in a suit and tie.

“You really think letting her go is a good idea?” The one man asked.

“Yes we can trust King Sombra and letting her leave the country, is one less distraction for us.” The cigarette man replied.

“And the fifteen year old girl with magic?” The other man replied.

“We will keep an eye on her, but you and I know we have other more important things to take care of.” The cigarette man replied walking off.

That same night in Canterlot…

“I don’t know Apple, I'm taking a big risk here.” Braeburn said looking around the warehouse.

“Risk, a lot of our business comes from here in Canterlot. Moving our business here is a smart move.” Apple Cinnamon replied

“All because of Luna.” Braeburn said.

“Well she does have a part in my proposal to move here.” He said.

“Apple Cinnamon, we live in Appaloosa, we can’t afford a house here. In Appaloosa we have a place fully paid off that has been in our family for a few generations. Here we will have to get an apartment here and pay rent. Maybe we can get a house. It will probably be in a bad section of town though.” Braeburn explained to him.

“Celestia has a nice place.” Apple Cinnamon replied.

“Celestia’s family had money, the house belonged to her parents. Look, go surprise Luna and talk to her. Between your smooching, see what she says.” Braeburn told him. Apple Cinnamon just smiled at the suggestion.

“Granny Smith said we can stay there, we need to leave at first light. So don’t be all night.” Braeburn informed his cousin.

“Ok then I will go see Luna.” Apple Cinnamon said turning on his heels and with a spring in his step.

“Hey you got the truck, drop me off Sweet Apple Acres first, wait up you’re my ride.” Braeburn called after him.

For Sunset morning came way too early. Luna walked into the bedroom and tried to wake Sunset. She got a pillow flung at the door. Luna was not going to put up with it. She went and pulled the covers down and took the pillows off the bed.

“Mom, I don’t want to go to school. Let me stay here please.” Sunset whined.

“K-N-O-W.” Luna replied.

“That spells know.” Sunset replied still groggy.

“That is my answer NO. Now get your ass out of bed!!” Luna yelled leaving the room.

Walking down the hall, Chrysalis stopped Luna in the living room. “You were a little mean to her don’t you think?” Chrysalis asked.

“No, every morning it is a battle to get her out of bed. I am about to try the frozen marble trick Chrysalis.” Luna said walking into the kitchen to get coffee, she needed her caffeine.

Chrysalis also poured herself a cup of coffee. “Luna have you tried not fueling the drama and give her something to look forward too. Maybe the fact that the whole school doesn’t hate her now.” She said.

“I could try that Chrys thanks for the idea.” Luna thought as Sunset came in the kitchen.

“I’m sorry about this morning honey but I need to get you up, we have a farther drive today to get to school. After school we are gonna get our clothes and head home.” Luna informed her.

“But mom Gilda is still out there somewhere!” Sunset exclaimed.

“Sunset I have it on good authority that she won’t be bothering you for a long time.” Chrysalis said.

“Did they catch her?” Sunset asked as she made herself some cereal.

“No they didn’t but I have it on good authority she has been dealt with.” Chrysalis said taking a sip of coffee.

“Whose authority? That weird cigarette smoking man you have been meeting with? Plus what do you mean dealt with, was she killed or something?” Sunset questioned Chrysalis.

“Sunset I can’t go into detail, just trust me it’s safe.” Chrysalis told her.

“Mom Friday Night I won’t be coming home with you. Rarity wants me to model dresses and insists that she has got the perfect dress for me to wear to homecoming.” Sunset told her.

“Are you still going with Trixie?” Luna asked.

“Awww Sunset has a girlfriend.” Chrysalis teased.

“Ewww no. I didn’t have a date like my friends and Trixie said I can’t sit at home. I was hoping to come here and play video games”. Sunset said.

“Sweetie you really should go to the dance and do some normal teenage things.” Chrysalis said.

“Last time I went to a dance it didn’t go real well.” Sunset said remembering the fall formal.

“Really?” Luna asked.

Sunset looked up at Luna to say are you crazy? Sunset sat looking at Luna and wanted to scream no it didn’t.

“I think it went great. You got a mom, two aunts and five friends as close as sisters and another one you are getting along with too.” Luna said.

“I guess it did huh?” Sunset asked out loud. Not realizing she said that outloud. She looked up and saw both Luna and Chrysalis staring at her smiling and nodding at her.

“But we can reminisce later, Sunset you got school, I got work and I am sure Chrysalis does too.” Luna said putting her empty coffee cup in the dishwasher.

“Yeah let’s go I want to talk to Rarity at school. Doing the outfit modeling on Friday might be kinda tough. With the dance that night.” Sunset said.

“Well you can express your concern to Rarity at school. “ Luna said.

The drive to school was longer than it was from Luna’s apartment. Sunset was starting to fall asleep when they arrived at school. Luna gave her a little nudge. Sunset shook her head a little as she woke up.

“Wake up honey.” Luna said sweetly and gently. Sunset just smiled at Luna being sweet to her.

Sunset saw Applejack at the statue, so she went to hang with her friends as Luna went to her office.

“You’re always here early.” Sunset remarked walking up to Applejack.

“If ya live and work on a farm, ya’ll get up early.” Applejack told her.

“That was true the day I stayed with you, for the harvest.” Sunset said remembering the harvest.

“That thar was a special occasion.” Applejack remarked.

Shortly after that Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash arrived. Pinkie Pie showed up next. Finally the one Sunset was waiting for arrived: Rarity. Sunset walked over to her and gave her a hug.

“Rarity doing the dresses on Friday after school…”Sunset started.

“I know I realized that Friday won’t work with the dance so what do you say to coming over Thursday instead?” Rarity asked Sunset as they walked over to the other girls.

“Oooo what;s going on Thursday? Is it the fact that it is the day before Friday? Because Friday makes me so happy.” Pinkie said, almost jumping up and down.

“No Pinkie I’m helping Rarity.” Sunset said,

“With your tour? Wait, how can Rarity help you with the tour?” Pinkie asked.

“I’m going to model some dresses for her.” Sunset said.

“Yes and then I want to choose a good one for the dance this Friday. Also one that Sunset would look divine in.” Rarity said.

“Ok how about we fast forward to Thursday then?” Asked Pinkie Pie.

“Wait guys first we need to talk in the music room I have to tell you about this weekend.” Sunset said. With that the girls all headed to the music room. Sunset had them all sit down.

She went over the whole thing with DCF and how the thought Luna was abusing her. All the girls were shocked. Pinkie’s hair even deflated. The girls just looked at each other and finally Applejack spoke up.

“Is this about the incident I’m not supposed to speak about?” Applejack said realizing she just slipped up.

“What incident was that?” Asked Rainbow Dash.

Taking a deep breath Sunset put her hands together and closing her eyes she decided to tell the girls about the fight. Sunset came clean to her friends about the argument and the night Luna slapped her. Including the events at Applejack’s farm.

“Sunny please tell me you don’t still cut?” Pinkie asked getting up and grabbing Sunset’s hands.

“No but I really want too, my life freaking’ sucks.” Sunset replied, dropping her head.

Pinkie put her hand on Sunset’s chin and lifted her head. “Sunny please I don’t want to see you down in the dumps like this.” Pinkie said looking into Sunset’s eyes and smiled really big. Sunset couldn’t help but smile back a little bit. Pinkie was so happy she wrapped Sunset in a big hug.

“Sunny that’s what I want to see, is you smiling.” Pinkie said her hair inflating again.

“Rarity I’m gonna come home with you on Thursday and model those dresses. Fluttershy I’ll be there Saturday to help out at the shelter.” Sunset said.

“Darlings we better get out books and stuff, classes will be starting soon.” Rarity said. With that all the girls except Rainbow Dash went to their lockers. Then they split until lunch with Applejack and Sunset heading to science.

For Sunset the day went by pretty fast until the last period of the day which was a study hall. Trixie sat down across the table at the library and smiled and nudged Sunset slightly.

“Hi Trixie.” Sunset replied.

“Can we talk in private Sunset?” Sunset nodded and the girls headed to the back of the library. Sunset turned around against the bookcase and Trixie leaned against the other bookcase.

“Sunset I have to ask, are you ok with this?” Trixie motioned between her and Sunset.

“I’m not following.” Sunset replied.

“I mean about you and I and the dance.” Trixie asked.

“I’m fine with it ,we're going to the dance as friends. You didn’t want me sitting home that night, and if I want to show people that I have changed then maybe I should show up at a dance and not destroy the front of the school, or hypnotize the whole student body.” Sunset said.

“Well don’t turn into a she-demon and we will be fine.” Trixie told her, immediately regretting what she said as soon as she said it. Sunset looked hurt and just dropped her head and started to walk away. Trixie went after her.

“Sunset.” Trixie said. Sunset grabbed her bag and headed out of the library despite Ms. Harshwhinny’s objections. Sunset ran down the hall and into Luna’s office before she let any tears fall. She sat in the chair and let her tears fall but she wasn't gonna cry.

“Sunset, honey what’s wrong?” Luna asked, seeing Sunset about to cry.

“Mommy.” Was the only word Sunset got out before she started to break.
Shooting up from her chair Luna ran over to console Sunset.

“Fucking Trixie.” Sunset sobbed out as Luna wrapped her arms around Sunset holding her head close to her chest. Sunset finally cried now that her mom was holding her. It dawned on her the students were never gonna forgive her.

More than anything it dawned on her that Gilda was right about what she said in the warehouse that night. ”Those student’s want you gone, so they can get back to the way things were. But I know the truth there is no going back. You’ve changed things forever.”

Just then there was a knock on Luna’s door. She let go of Sunset who quickly wiped her eyes and Luna went over to open the door. Her blood pressure almost skyrocketed seeing Trixie standing there looking sad.

“Come in Trixie I was about to call for you.” Luna said standing aside letting her walk in.

“Have a seat.” Luna said still be cordial to Trixie. Trixie sat down next to Sunset putting her backpack down next to her chair.

“Now maybe you can tell me why my daughter came in here in tears and said ‘Effiin Trixie’ I want to hear this.” Luna said.

Trixie told her everything that happened in the library.

“Trixie, Sunset is trying to put that behind her. She has turned her life around, I thought you and her were friends I guess not.” Luna said.

“Friends? I was hoping for more. I guess you’re not into girls' Sunset? My stupidity was hoping for that.” Trixie replied. Luna and Sunset sat in shock for a second. Trixie had just admitted she was a lesbian. Then Sunset decided to ask something.

“Trixie, did you just come out to me?” She asked.

Trixie sat looking at the floor, but slowly looked up at Sunset with tears on her cheeks and looking extremely upset and just slowly nodded. Sunset looked at Trixie and realized she just broke her heart. Sunset felt like she had been punched in the stomach.

“Trixie I just broke your heart and it feels like someone punched me in the stomach.”

“Sunset…” Trixie began.

“NO, just stop. No matter what I do, I end up hurting people. See this is why I should have died in that crater. Why couldn’t Twilight have left me there?” Sunset lamented.

“SUNSET SHIMMER!! Will you stop that shit about wanting to die. You know how bad that hurts me??!!” Luna yelled at Sunset. Even Trixie jumped and shot up from her chair.

Luna was standing up leaning forward with her hands placed firmly on her desk, a look of rage focused on Sunset. Sunset looked back at her with the same look and decided to go at it with Luna.

“Big surprise there. All I do is hurt people, you Trixie, my other “friends”. I am better off dead, why couldn’t my parents have killed me, why couldn’t I have died in the streets of Canterlot? Why couldn’t I…” Sunset almost collapsed.

Luna ran around the desk and caught her and Trixie felt very uneasy. “Vice-Principal Luna I’m gonna go now.” Trixie said kind of embarrassed. Luna just nodded at her.

Trixie left feeling depressed and embarrassed. She came out to a girl she wanted to be in a relationship with and it upset her. Trixie left the school and walked home fast. The last thing she had wanted to do was upset Sunset. Sunset was wrong; she
didn’t hurt Trixie, Trixie hurt her.

Trixie walked over to the school garden passing no one except a green haired girl that she really paid no attention to. Once there Trixie sat down on the ground and wrapped her arms around her legs. She bowed her head against her legs, and let herself grieve.

“The great and powerful Trixie. What a joke.” Trixie thought.

Trixie was startled back to reality from her despair by a gentle touch on her shoulder. It was Sunset and Luna was with her. Both had looks of compassion on their faces. Here they were fighting when Trixie was the one who needed to be consoled.

“Trixie?” Sunset said not really knowing what to say.

“I gotta get home. The honest and apologetic Trixie is sorry Sunset.” Trixie said.

Sunset was perplexed, why was she apologizing. Because she thought she hurt her. Sunset decided she needed to say something.

“Trixie it was my fault, I always screw everything up since the Fall Formal. I’m sorry I like you as a person, even as a friend. Just not as a girlfriend.” Sunset explained.

“You can discuss this at therapy tomorrow after school. I’ll set it up for both of you.” Luna said.

“Would you like to join us for dinner?” Sunset asked.

“The great and powerful Trixie could use a meal. Let Trixie call home.” Trixie said, taking out her cell phone. While Trixie sat chatting with her mom, Sunset walked over to Luna.

“Well mom it’s good to see Trixie back to her old self.” Sunset remarked to Luna.

“Still you both need to attend your therapy tomorrow. Now is Trixie joining us for dinner?” Luna asked with her arms crossed. Trixie shut off her cell phone and walked over to Luna.

“Trixie’s mom says it’s ok to join you…”Trixie began.

“Why do I feel like there is but coming on?” Luna asked.

“...but she wants to know if she’s picking me up, or if you are bringing Trixie home.” Trixie asked.

“C’mon we will get take out and I will drop you at home.” Luna said, exhausted.

“Trixie thinks that sounds great.” Trixie said. Luna started to walk off towards the school to get her coat and purse. Sunset offered her arm to Trixie and they walked arm in arm towards the school.

“What is this?” Trixie asked as they walked.

“It’s Sunset Shimmer’s way of telling Trixie Lulamoon that she will still go to the dance if she wants.” Sunset said, acting like Trixie.

“The Great and Powerful Trixie...would like that very much.” Trixie said smiling,

Sunset felt better knowing Trixie was feeling better. After stopping for some Chinese take out they headed to Luna’s apartment. Sunset and Trixie talked about the dance while they ate. After Dinner Luna took Trixie home and Sunset went for the ride. For once everything seemed ok.

Tuesday seemed to go ok for Sunset, school was not a living hell for her now. It hadn’t been since the Battle of the Bands. The last period was study hall. Sunset sat across from Trixie doing homework. Both of them did not talk to each other but seemed to have mutual understanding. They both were still in therapy from the hostage situation. Today they would talk about Trixie’s revelation and their relationship.

Sunset’s mind was on Thursday to Saturday to finish her tour and hopefully then everything would be good with her and her friends. She had saved the school and the bullying had stopped...almost. She couldn’t figure out why Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo were being cold and unfriendly to her.

Then came the final bell. Sunset and Trixie grabbed their bags. They both headed for Luna’s office. Sunset knocked on the door.

“Enter.” Luna's voice came from the other side of the door.

Sunset and Trixie came in and saw Luna signing documents and handing them back to Ms. Inkwell. Luna looked up at her daughter and her daughter’s new friend.

“Are you two ready to go?” She asked.

“The great and powerful Trixie is…”Trixie began.

‘Yeah we are.” Sunset interrupted.

“Um ok, well let’s head out then.” Luna said.

“Vice Principal Luna, Trixie wants to thank you for dinner last night.” Trixie said.

“It was my pleasure Trixie, I am always happy when Sunset has a friend over.” Luna said. Then she turned and faced both girls. “To tell you the truth I’m just happy Sunset has friends.” Luna remarked.

“Trixie is happy to have...a good friend like Sunset. Every Time Trixie tries to make friends, Trixie fails.” Trixie replied sadly.

“I know five girls who can help, they helped me learn about friendship.” Sunset replied.

The girls went into their therapy session. It was recommended after their hostage situation but today the girls had something else to discuss. Trixie and her revelation.

“So Trixie you don’t need therapy becuase your gay.” The therapist said.

“No, it's what happened after her revelation.” Sunset interjected. The therapist raised finger to say something. Actually he wanted to ask Sunset her feelings on this.

“Sunset, does this affect your friendship with Trixie?” The therapist asked.

“It adds a new dimension to it but no not really.” Sunset replied.

“Then it does apparently.” The therapist said. Seeing that a cleverly veiled way of saying yes. He wanted Sunset to feel at ease around Trixie.

“Look, Trixie's sexual preference doesn’t bother me.” Sunset said.

“You said it added a new dimension to your relationship.” The therapist said, reminding Sunset of her earlier response.

“But I still want to be friends with Trixie.” Sunset said.

The therapist was happy to hear that so he decided to try something with the girls

“OK then I suggest you two do some activity together and see how it goes. I want to hear about it next session. ” The therapist said.

Leaving the therapist's office Trixie and Sunset were mulling over what they could do.

“Trixie wants to know, do you still want to go to the dance?” Trixie asked,

“Yes we can still go to the dance together.” Sunset replied.

“After the dance do you want to have a sleepover?” Trixie said.

“Well I can’t do it Friday Night because Saturday morning I have a shift at the Canterlot Animal Shelter helping Fluttershy. It’s the end of my goodwill tour.” Sunset explained.

“Trixie understands.” Trixie said dejectedly.

“Hey after the holidays we can do the sleepover. I turn 16 shortly after the first of the year, why don’t we do it after then.” Sunset told her rubbing Trixie’s shoulder.

Trixie smiled and put her hand on Sunset’s. She then just gave Sunset a big hug to which Sunset returned. The two girls had gone from hating each other to being friends. For Sunset it was great to have another Ally.

Trixie and Sunset walked out both smiling and chatting. Sunset was actually feeling good about life now. Luna noticed both of the girls seemed happy. She felt great to see Sunset happy finally.

“With all Sunset has been through and everything she’s suffered. It warms my heart to see her smiling and laughing and joking with Trixie.” Luna thought.

Pinkie Pie suddenly popped up out of nowhere “Now can we do it?”

“Yes Pinkie. Mom’s gonna take us home so go for it.” Sunset said.

“Fast Forward to Thursday!” Pinkie yelled.

It was Thursday all of a sudden for Sunset that was wonderful. It meant another stop on her goodwill tour. She knew she could probably stop the tour now and her friends would be ok but she was determined to finish this and deal with the guilt that she still felt at times.

As she mulled this over in study hall, Trixie noticed she was lost in thought. She snapped her fingers at Sunset who was sitting across from her. Sunset came back to her senses.

“The great and powerful Trixie wants to know what you're thinking about?” Trixie whispered to Sunset

“Making another stop on my goodwill tour.” Sunset whispered back just as the final bell sounded.

“See you tomorrow Trixie.” Sunset said as she walked out of the library to meet up with Rarity. She was getting a ride home with her. As Sunset walked up to Rarity at her locker Rarity was grabbing her stuff and saw Thunderlane walk up and gave Rarity a quick kiss.

Sunset stopped as she felt uneasy. It wasn’t that she didn’t like Thunderlane, hell she hardly even knew him. But seeing her friends with their guys, it always made her feel uneasy and lonely.

She waited until they finished kissing their goodbyes before walking up.to Rarity.

“Ah there you are darling. I was wondering where you were.” Rarity explained.

“I was giving you space with Thunderlane. I didn’t want to interfere.” Sunset said feeling down. Rarity noticed this and was concerned.

“Sunset, are you ok?” Rarity said.

“Yeah, I’m good.” She lied with a fake smile.

“Sunset if you're ready, let's model.” Rarity said.

Sunset followed Rarity out to her car and Sweetie Belle was already there waiting for her big sister, seeing Sunset coming with Rarity she was pissed.

“Why is she coming home with us?” Sweetie Belle asked irately.

“Sweetie Belle! Mind your manners.” Rarity said cross with Sweetie Belle.

Sunset stuck close to Rarity as she could tell Sweetie Belle still didn’t like her. She noticed Sweetie Belle was standing at the passenger door. Sunset was going to sit in the back when Rarity stopped her.

“Sweetie Belle do be a dear and have a seat in the back please.” Rarity said.

“WHY??!! I always sit with you when you drive!!” Sweetie Belle whined.

“You're still sitting with me. Just Sunset is too. She is coming home with us. I need her to model some dresses. So please just relax.” Rarity said, trying to calm Sweetie Belle down. Sweetie Belle got in the back seat and sulked. Rarity however didn’t notice.

Sunset was kinda in a daze all the way home. Rarity talked about Thunderlane but mostly the dresses she had been working on. She also talked about finding something for Sunset to wear to the dance.

Arriving at Rarity’s house Sweetie Belle ran inside and up to her room Rarity and Sunset walked into the house to be greeted with the smell of baking cookies. Sunset inhaled deeply.

“My mom is a great cook, Sunset. She's making them for a bake sale her friends are organizing.” Rarity told her. Sunset just nodded.

“I saved two cookies for my girls…” Cookie Crumbles began before stopping to see Sunset.

“Rarity I didn’t know you were bringing a friend home.” She said.

“This is my friend Sunset Shimmer. She's gonna model a few dresses for me for the big dance tomorrow night.” Rarity explained.

“Well Sweetie Belle didn’t seem to want her cookie, can I interest you Sunset?” Cookie asked.

“Thank you.” Sunset said, taking the cookie.

“Wow, these are good! Mom could take some baking lessons from you.” Sunset said.

“Oh who’s your mom, do I know her? I’d love to help her if she wants.” Cookie offered.

“Luna.” Sunset replied, finishing her cookie.

“The Vice Principal is your mother?” Cookie asked.

“Yes she adopted me.” Sunset told her.

“Wow, I had no idea. Well you girls have fun, it was nice to meet you Sunset.” Cookie said heading back towards the kitchen.

Entering Rarity’s room. Sunset noticed the screen Rarity set up and Rarity had the dresses all on a rack. Sunset sat down on the bed and took off her boots when Rarity stopped her. Pulling her chair over she sat across from Sunset.

“Ok Sunset I can tell you are mad or sad or both. I think the word I’m looking for is upset. What’s wrong?” Rarity asked concern, filling her voice.

“Well Christmas is coming up. I have never been close to anyone for the holidays. This time it’s different and I’m not sure how to feel about it.

Also I worry that I feel like a burden to you girls, or wonder if I’m a charity case, then there is the homecoming dance. You all have dates, while I’m happy that you and Thunderlane are getting along. I mean I really am. It’s just that all the girls have someone but I get tired of hearing and seeing it everyday.

A quick kiss here, a hug there. Then you all talk about these guys constantly. Rarity you're happy I understand that, but it hurts also because…” Sunset finished trying not to break down.

“Because you feel left out.” Rarity said, sitting next to Sunset putting her arm around her.

“Exactly. See Trixie only asked me to go to the dance so I didn’t sit at home the night of the dance.” Sunset said.

“Well I think you should come, and show everyone you can be at a dance with no drama. Now try on a few dresses and let's see how you look.” Rarity said.

Sunset tried on six different dresses before she saw one on the end of the rack that she fell in love with. She ran over and took it off the hanger and put it in front of her to imagine herself in it.

It was a plain purple dress with an orange trim on the bottom and an orange waistband. To Sunset it was perfect. Rarity was perplexed at Sunset’s choice.

“Sunset that’s not finished yet. I still have to work on that.” Rarity told her.

“No, I want this. It fits like a glove. Do you have matching shoes?” Sunset asked.

“Possibly what’s your shoe size?” Rarity asked.

Meanwhile in Sweetie Belle’s room…

Sweetie was on a video call with Apple Bloom and Scootaloo and told them about the car ride home and the modeling session next door.

“I know Rarity treated Sunset better than me. First we get shoved to the side so we can all love on poor Sunset. It’s bad enough she turned them into mutant half- species but now this.” Sweetie Belle said.

“I know Applejack always talks about her too. It’s like we don’t even exist anymore, it really gets my goat!” Apple Bloom commented back.

“Gets my goat?” Scootaloo replied.

“It’s a farm expression.” Apple Bloom replied.

“Hmmm..have you guys heard about that new school website MyStable?” Scootaloo asked,

“Yeah, muh sister Applejack signed up for it.” Apple Bloom

“So did Rarity.” Sweetie Belle said.

“Well, so did Rainbow Dash. Hmm.. girls maybe we can use this to our advantage somehow.” Scootaloo replied back.

“I have an idea we need to meet this weekend and then see if this is gonna work. If we keep gettin’ ignored we gonna do it.” Apple Bloom replied.

The girls signed off their video call and started to work on their schoolwork also in the back of their minds formulating a plan.

“The orange shoes go so well with your homecoming dress. Darling you look well darling. You're going to be the belle of the ball!” Rarity exclaimed.

“You really think so?” Sunset asked.

“Yeah. I do.” Rarity replied.

Then Rarity told Sunset “Now thanks to your help I can see where I need to make alterations to some of my dresses. Thank you for your time and help darling. While I didn’t get a chance to finish that dress you chose. If you like it then take it. It’s yours for the dance tomorrow. Make sure to take the matching shoes too.

Now listen Sunset. If you want to find someone, maybe you should look outside Canterlot High. You know, try a different school maybe...I don’t know, Crystal Prep.”

The Dance and the Drama

It was Friday afternoon and Sunset was still nervous over the dance. It was the last period of the day and Sunset was in the library during study hall sitting across from Trixie. Trixie looked up at Sunset as she seemed to be staring off into space.

“Trixie to Sunset, come in please.” Trixie said, waving her hand in front of Sunset.

“Sorry it’s just the dance.” Sunset said downhearted.

“Oh Sunset, listen to the great and powerful Trixie. Tonight there is no crown, or Twilight or anything else like that. It’s just us two friends going to a school dance. Nothing else. Now a question. Are you ok with us actually dancing together?” Trixie said.

“Do people actually dance at a school dance?” Sunset asked.

“It’s more hanging out than dancing. Now what time are you picking me up?” Trixie asked.

“Luna and Aunt Celestia are chaperoning the dance so I have to get there early with mom. I will be picking you up around 6:30 I think. I’ll text you when I know more.” Sunset informed her.

“Ok but Trixie wants to know are you ok going with her?” Trixie asked.

“Yeah, I wouldn’t have agreed to go with you if I wasn’t ok to dancing with you.” Sunset replied.

“I know but after Tuesday, Trixie was wondering.” Trixie replied.

“Don’t worry about it Trixie I am ok with it, are you?” Sunset said.

“When Trixie ran away that day over to the school garden something weird happened. I passed a girl who was coming from the garden. She had messy green hair and worn out clothes. Trixie was too upset to care about it at the time. But Trixie has no idea who that was.” Trixie replied.

“Not anyone I know.” Sunset replied.

Just then the final bell rang and Trixie and Sunset packed up their stuff and headed for their lockers. After putting away most of her stuff. She grabbed her bag and headed to Luna's office. Sunset was happy to be able to walk the halls and not have everyone scared of her or wanting to kill her.

Upon entering her mom’s office Luna was finishing up for the day as well when Sunset came in.

“Hi honey, how was your day?” Luna casually asked,

Sunset ran up and gave her a big hug. Luna liked the affection that Sunset showed it sure beat the screaming matches. Still this was rare in school to see this.

“What’s wrong hun?” Luna asked.

“Mom, I'm worried about this dance tonight. Everyone thinks I’m overreacting, It’s just last time we had a dance here I…”Sunset started,

“Just go with Trixie and hang on to her. She is gonna be your life preserver tonight. I know she can be pompous and arrogant but she will get you through this. It's just a couple of hours, then you can go help Fluttershy in the morning.” Luna reassured her. “Now let’s check on the decorations in the gym and we can head home and get ready.” Luna told her, giving Sunset a side hug.

“Ok Pinkie Pie said she’s been working hard on the decorations.” Sunset replied.

As Luna and Sunset walked to the gymnasium Sunset could feel the anticipation grow. When she walked in it eerily reminded her of the fall formal. Luna put her arm around Sunset to comfort her.

“Pinkie?” Sunset said.

“Hi ya Sunny!!” Pinkie almost appearing out of nowhere and startling both Sunset and her mom.

“Hi Pinkie. Mom wanted to see how the decorations were coming for the dance.” Sunset said.

“They are coming along great look at the streamers and the balloons. Plus Applejack even has several cases of fizzy apple cider chilling on ice. I need to run home for a quick shower change and be back here at about 6 so we can open the doors at 7.” Pinkie said in one breath.

“We will be here shortly after 6 too. To make sure refreshments are set up.” Luna said.

“WE??!! SUNSET ARE YOU ACTUALLY COMING!! THIS IS SO COOL!!” Pinkie exclaimed.

“Pinkie bring it down an octave but yes I am coming. Just relax!!” Sunset said. Sunset turned to say something to Luna but Pinkie had vanished.

“Where did she go?” Luna asked

“Mom, it’s Pinkie, you just get used to it.” Sunset replied.

Later that afternoon after a shower and other preparations Sunset was ready for the dance. Luna put an old silver necklace on Sunset. Then handed her earrings and Sunset just put them down.

“What’s wrong with those, they belonged to my grandmother.” Luna said.

“I still can’t wear them, I never got my ears pierced.” Sunset said.

“Oh My Gosh I never realized. Well after the holidays as part of your Sweet 16 present we will get your ears pierced. I don’t have any clip-on earrings though.” Luna said

“Mom, it's ok. I still can’t believe you didn’t notice though.” Sunset said, a little surprised.

“Me too.” Luna said realizing she missed a detail like this, was she missing something else. She decided not to dwell on it. She decided to concentrate on her daughter going to her first dance.

“Your first dance and you are gonna have a good time.” Luna said beaming. “Just one more thing. Giving Sunset a quick spray of perfume to which she coughed.

“Mom please c’mon.” Sunset said coughing.

“Wait until your wedding day Sunset.” Luna said,

“Like that is ever gonna happen.” Sunset lamented.

“Just because your friends have boyfriends, doesn’t mean you won’t find one Someday. Besides, you have a date to the dance tonight.” Luna said.

“I know the first person who shows interest in me and I have no interest in her other than being friends.” Sunset said, looking down.

“Sunset, come on we need to go.” Luna said putting her coat on and grabbing her purse and keys then went over and got eye to eye with her girl.

“Sunset I’m sure a pretty girl like yourself will find someone, someday. I know it in my heart of hearts and when the time comes I will walk you down the aisle unless there is someone else you want to do that. You have to believe it.” Luna said.

After that Luna locked up and Sunset walked barefoot down to the car. Once in the car she put her shoes on and they went and picked up Trixie.

Sunset went up to the front door and knocked and Trixie opened the door and saw Sunset standing there.

“Wow you look beautiful.” Trixie said, hugging Sunset. Then Trixie smelled the perfume and smiled evilly.

“What?” Said Sunset sensing some remark was coming.

“You smell nice. Did you take a bath?” Trixie asked jokingly.

“The great and powerful Sunset…” Sunset began before both girls got hysterical, knowing each other’s sense of humor. Just then Luna honked the horn to get the girls to move.

“Mom has to get there early so she’s a little impatient.” Sunset told Trixie and the two girls walked down the walkway to Luna’s car. Sunset opened the door to the backseat letting Trixie slide in and Sunset sat beside her.

Luna decided to let the girls sit in the back seat and Luna noticed the girls were very close. She didn’t let on but she did want to call attention to it. She just wanted to get over to the school.

Arriving at the school Luna and the girls got out and headed into the gym. Luna went over to where Celestia was standing on the stage overseeing final preparations.

“Hi sister, our former student Cheese Sandwich has done well in the entertainment business. He is in college for that and worked hard getting the final preparations ready for tonight. I think there are people who were pissed that we cancelled a vote for Homecoming queen.” Celestia informed Luna.

“We have had enough with crowns and princesses for a while. Don’t you?” Luna replied.

“We have to get back to normal in this school.” Celestia said.

“As long as Sunset is here that is not gonna happen huh?” Luna asked.

“That’s not what I meant, this school is becoming very use to strange beings. The Sirens had nothing to do with Sunset. She may have started the magic here but I don’t blame her. She was a confused and lost girl, If she had someone who cared for her. I think things would have been different.” Celestia explained.

“I am glad things went the way they did. Sunset has given my life meaning. I think it was more than luck.” Luna replied. Luna saw students start to file in.

“Well let's get a spot by the doors and keep a watch on the dance. Hopefully this dance goes better.” Luna said.

Luna also noticed that Sunset stayed pretty close to Trixie all night long. Her and Trixie did a few fast dances and and even a slow dance that gained a lot of stares and even some whispers.

“You see that Sunset and Trixie are slow dancing.”

“Do you think they are a couple?”

“Are Sunset and Trixie gay?”

Sunset heard some of the whispers but Trixie helped calm her nerves. “Sunset, don't pay them any attention. Just stay with me and follow my lead. After this why don’t you mingle with your friends. There is a lot of that at dances too." Trixie said.

After they finished their slow dance Sunset went to mingle with her friends but didn’t want to leave Trixie alone. Trixie assured her it was ok, she was just going to the bathroom.

“Relax, go see your other friends. I’m just gonna use the bathroom. Besides, it's not like Trixie Iacks protection. Look over there by the doors where your mom and aunt are.” Trixie said motioning to who just walked in the door Sunset’s Aunt Chrysalis.

Sunset made her way over to the doors which lead into the school to see why her aunt was there.

“Aunt Chrysalis, what are you doing here?” Sunset asked.

“I wanted to see if you came. Plus your mom sent me a text and I came to talk to her.” Chrysalis said.

“Well Aunt Chrysalis I have never danced so much. People are whispering about Trixie and I being a gay couple.” Sunset said.

“Are you?” Chrysalis asked.

“Trixie is gay, I’m not but no guy is interested in me. I’m gonna hang with the girls.” Sunset said.

“What do you think, Chrysalis?” Luna asked.

“I don’t think she is into Trixie, Luna. Is this what you were worried about?” Chrysalis asked, a little annoyed.

“I wasn’t worried about Sunset’s orientation. I was wondering what you think?” Luna asked.

“I don’t think it should matter, I think she’s happy that someone gives a damn to help her change. She is trying to help Sunset. You told me Sunset was scared about coming here-Trixie is her rock and strength tonight. She is trying to be a good friend” Chrysalis said, a little annoyed.

With that Chrysalis turned and left the gym through the school out into the courtyard. Luna went running after her.

“Chrysalis wait!!” Luna called out running after her.

“Luna why? Why did I come down here? For your piece of mind? Were you scared about Sunset being gay or bi?” Chrysalis asked.

“Chrysalis, when I asked you to come it was just to see Sunset having a good time. Not to judge her orientation. What is this about Chrysalis? Why are you acting like this?” Luna asked.

“Luna I...I don’t know.” Chrysalis said, her voice breaking.

“You were worried I was gonna be like your parents when you said you were bi. I’m not going to give Sunset a black eye over it. I didn’t want you to come down here and ask you about Sunset’s orientation. I was asking what you think about the WHOLE DAMN PICTURE.” Luna stressed.

“I think what Trixie did is very admirable. I think it’s great Sunset is having a good time. I think it’s great that Sunset came tonight to show people she has changed. But most of all I’m sorry for overreacting.” Chrysalis told her.

“Two things Chrys. One If Sunset brings home a guy I’m gonna grill him. If Sunset brings home a girl I’m gonna grill her. I don’t care what gender they are, I'm gonna ask them some questions. That's my job as a mother.

Two I also wanted you to see this, say what do you think. Not for you to dissect the question and fly off the handle. I’m not going to stop loving Sunset regardless of what gender she likes.

Her and Trixie have been through a lot together. So I think they are going to have a special connection. Kind of like you and I. I know you love Sunset, I do too. Now it’s getting cold and I'm heading inside.” Luna said.

“I’m gonna take off, but what do you say to lunch together tomorrow? You, Me and Sunset.” Chrysalis asked.

“I would like that. Sunset would too, but she has an obligation in the morning but after that we can meet.” Luna told her.

The rest of the night went well for Sunset. Her and Trixie enjoyed some punch. Sunset got to hang with her other friends. Fluttershy reminded her of her shift at the Canterlot Animal Shelter. All in all Sunset was happy.

Outside the school…

Chrysalis had adjusted her leather jacket and was getting set to put her helmet on when she heard her phone ding. Taking it out, the text read:

PN: Well babe how did it go?

Chrys: Luna passed with flying colors, she really loves Sunset.

PN: I want to meet your niece, this pony-girl.

Chrys: Ok besides she needs a physical for her senior year.

PN: Well let's worry about that this summer.

Chrys: You want some company tonight babe?

PN: I need someone to keep me warm tonight.

Chrys: On my way.

Later that night....At the CMC clubhouse a campout was going on

“Ah know, we were completely ignored, but Applejack could tare herself away from Toe Tapper to talk to Sunset for a lil bit.” Apple Bloom said.

“I saw that and Rainbow did the same thing.” Scootaloo said back.

“Rarity did it too.” Sweetie Belle said.

“Ah also can’t believe Applejack agreed to let us have a cold weather campout.” Apple Bloom said.

“Hardly cold weather with all the blankets we got.” Scootaloo replied curling up under some blankets and comforters.

“Our sisters didn’t ignore us at the first dance. Like they did this time.” Sweetie Belle said.

“I wish we could get back at Sunset, but we would have to do it anonymously.” Scootaloo said.

“Anonymously?” Asked Apple Bloom.

“Yeah why?” Scootaloo replied.

“That gives me an idea.” Apple Bloom said.

Sunset and Luna dropped Trixie off at home. After the girls shared a hug at Trixie’s front door. After the girls shared a few words Trixie headed in. Sunset walked back to the car with a smile on her face. Luna definitely noticed Sunset’s mood,

“Well someone is happy.” Luna said.

“Trixie invited me over for a sleepover after the holidays.” Sunset said.

“Well that’s good isn’t it?” Luna asked as she put the car in gear and started home.

“I guess, but what if she comes on to me?” Sunset said.

Luna sighed. “Sunset I slept next to Chrysalis in the basement and at her house. She never came onto me. You need to stop being so damn homophobic. Trixie needs a good friend right now, someone who is not scared of her.” Luna scolded.
Sunset just bowed her head and looked down. She knew Luna was right.

“Remember the science class debacle. Applejack stepped right up and showed everyone she wasn’t scared to sit next to “the she-demon”. Now you need to be like that with Trixie.” Luna continued as she pulled into the apartment complex.

“You’re right mom. In fact let me invite Trixie over for a sleepover, maybe I should invite all the girls over, maybe for my sweet 16 party.” Sunset proclaimed.

“I guess you’ll want to take over the living room for the night huh?” Luna asked.

“Yes, if my mom is okay with it. Please say okay mommy.” Sunset did her best puppy dog pout look.

“Sunset that doesn't work on me.” Luna replied.

“Damn.” Sunset replied.

“We will see. Now why don't we get out of the car and go inside? You have a volunteering shift in the morning. Luna said.

“O.K. I am kind of tired tonight. I was going to ask that we do our midnight snack routine tonight but I think I am going to get changed and go to bed.” Sunset said.

“I hear you there. Tomorrow night we will do that ok hun?” Luna said.

“Sure mom.” Sunset said, her eyes drooping.

“Stay awake long enough to get changed.” Luna giving Sunset a gentle shake.

“Mom, I'm barely awake, but still awake.” Sunset said falling asleep.

Luna just sighed and shook her head. She walked around to the passenger side of the car. Unbuckled Sunset and picked her up in her arms and carried her girl up the stairs to the front door. Unlocking the door proved tough. But Luna managed to do it without waking Sunset.

Luna put Sunset on her bed and got her to wake up long enough to take her dress off. Sunset fell asleep soon after. Luna decided to let Sunset just sleep in her underwear for the night. Luna quickly got changed and fell asleep soon after. She was happy that this was the last Saturday she had to get up early.

Luna’s alarm went off at 7:00 a.m. and she almost fell out of bed. She quickly got up and turned the alarm off and went over to wake Sunset. That was going to be fun. She went in and gave Sunset a little nudge. Surprisingly Sunset lifted her head and looked at Luna through one eye.

“Sunset honey, it's time to get up. You get to finish your tour today.” Luna said softly.

“O.K. Mom.” Sunset murmured, laying her head back down. Luna saw this was gonna be a little bit harder than she had originally thought.

Luna pulled the blankets back and started tickling Sunset’s sides. Sunset started laughing uncontrollably. She was awake by then.

“Mom stop, I'm ticklish!! Mom, not first thing in the morning!! Please!” Sunset laughed out. Luna stopped and Sunset ran into the bathroom. Now Luna saw why Sunset wanted her to stop.

Luna went into the kitchen and started the Coffee. She needed a cup. It was early for her. “Next Saturday I can finally sleep in. Thank heavens.”Luna thought as she sipped her coffee.

Sunset came in a few minutes later. Dressed in a blue and white shirt. Blue jeans, and black boots with an orange stripe. She also had her other jacket on the one with an orange stripe on the sleeves.

“Mom, I need a cup of that too.” Sunset walking over to the coffee machine. This really surprised Luna as Sunset hardly ever drank coffee. In fact the only other time she saw Sunset drink coffee was her first day back after her suspension.

That morning was hell on Sunset as she was scared out of her wits. Luna was happy that a lot of students now left Sunset alone. She noticed especially since the battle of the bands no one bothered Sunset too much.

There was still a little bullying though, but it was High School and it was normal. Luna was grateful that Sunset had some great friends plus her and Chrysalis. Just wished Sunset would have a relationship with Celestia too.

Sunset finished her coffee and was eating a granola bar. Luna finished her coffee. Then went over to the far side of the kitchen and grabbed her keys off the hook and went into her bedroom grabbed her coat and purse. Sunset was waiting by the door. Luna unlocked the car and Sunset happily ran down the steps and Luna locked up her apartment.

“It’s nice to see Sunset happy. After all she went through the past several months. The last three years why didn’t I reach out to her sooner. Well she wouldn’t have accepted my help anyway.” Luna thought.

Unlike the last ride to the animal shelter. This one was a very different mood, Sunset actually talked and acted like a human being. Actually talking to Luna and saying more than just fine. Luna thought she better tell Sunset when her shift would end.

“Ok Sweetie, I'm picking you up at 12 noon. Your Aunt Chrysalis wants to meet you and me for lunch.” Luna told her.

“Ok I guess.” Sunset said.

“Guess? It's going to have to be.” Luna said

“Ok well I will see you then. Thanks for the ride mom.” Sunset said hoping out and heading over to where Fluttershy was standing by the doors leading into the shelter.

Luna smiled thinking this was a lot better than last time she dropped Sunset here. This time Sunset didn’t call her an asshole. So Luna was also happy this time.

Sunset walked up and hugged Fluttershy and then asked “Why are you standing out here?”

“I was waiting for you. The shelter opens at 9 and we start at 8 getting everything ready.” Fluttershy explained.

Soon a middle aged lady opened the door and she looked at Sunset.

“I’m sorry ma’am but we don’t open for another hour.” She told Sunset.

“Oh no it’s ok she’s with me. She’s doing a volunteer shift.” Fluttershy explained.

“Oh then come on in. What’s your name?” The Lady asked her.

“My name is Sunset Shimmer.” Sunset asked.

“Nice to meet you. I'm Springtime Gardens.” Springtime replied.

For the next hour Fluttershy showed her how to clean out cases and put fresh wood chips in each one. Also how to keep fresh clean water in fish tanks. After that Sunset set up water bottles in the hamster and gerbil cages not to mention giving them fresh food.

The door opened soon after that and while Sunset and Fluttershy still had a few more chores to do it was going along great. Sunset really felt rewarded for helping animals.

“You know Fluttershy this feels really rewarding.” Sunset said smiling and feeding some fish.

“I know I enjoy spending my Saturday mornings doing this.” Fluttershy said.

“Now I feel even worse. Fluttershy you’re not pathetic and I can understand having animals as some of your friends.” Sunset said sadly.

“It’s ok Sunset you’ve changed and grown and come on you been in a good mood all day, don’t do this now.” Fluttershy said, walking over and putting her hand on Sunset’s shoulder.

Sunset rubbed her hand and got back to work. Sweeping up the back room and then putting towels in the washing machine, and taking the trash out back.

Sunset figured this was her favorite part of the goodwill tour. Easier than the Apple Harvest, or working at The Sweet Shop, but keeping her busier than being an equipment manager, or fashion model. She was helping her friends and to Sunset that is what mattered most.

Looking at the clock she realized it was already 10:30. Having finished working in the back she decided to see what needed to be done out front. Walking out to the front she saw Fluttershy looking out the window.

“Sunset, check it out.” Fluttershy said, waving her over. Sunset looked out the window and her face lit up. The first snowfall of the season. It wasn’t overly heavy but enough that everything had a good white coating on it.

“This is gonna slow business down.” Springtime Gardens said.

“Sunset c’mon in the back with me for a second. I want to ask you a question.” Fluttershy said. Sunset followed, wondering what Fluttershy could possibly want.

“Sunset last night. Are you and Trixie dating? I mean what was that?” Fluttershy asked, perplexed.

“Ok. No we are not dating. Trixie took me to the dance to show everyone that I had changed. I was gonna sit at home or see if I could go play video games at Aunt Chrysalis’s house. Trixie wouldn’t hear of it. She insisted I go.” Sunset explained.

“Well you danced three dances with her, so you must have had a good time.” Fluttershy said.

“I did, but she wanted me to show people I could go to a dance and not destroy the school.” Sunset explained.

“Well I for one, know you have changed and am happy to count you among my friends.” Fluttershy said, giving Sunset a hug. Sunset hugged Fluttershy back.

“We’d better get back to work. I have an hour until mom picks me up.” Sunset said. Fluttershy went back into the main area. Sunset waited a second and then smiled and realized that this “Good Will Tour” had been a success. She realized she had six great friends.

The next hour went by fast and Sunset saw four people come in and adopt three dogs and one cat. Sunset thought it was cute. She wished she could have a pet but knew the apartment was not big enough for a dog or a cat. Besides she wanted something a little less hairy.

Eventually Luna came to pick Sunset up and after wishing the owner a good day and a quick hug with Fluttershy Sunset left for her and Luna’s lunch date.

“Well someone is happy.” Luna remarked seeing happy and relaxed Sunset was even smiling a little bit.

“The tour is over and I realize it was a great success. I have got six great friends. The world is in perfect order. Now I get to see my favorite aunt for lunch. This is a wonderful day.” Sunset remarked smiling.

Eventually arriving at The Sweet Shop. They were greeted by Pinkie Pie who told them Chrysalis and her friend were sitting in the back.

“Her friend?” Sunset questioned Luna.

“No wonder she wanted to have lunch. We are to meet someone special.” Luna declared understanding the situation perfectly.

Luna and Sunset walked to the back of the restaurant and there sat Chrysalis in her sneakers, ripped up jeans and black leather jacket. Her hair was tied back for once so she wasn’t blowing strands of hair out of her face.

Sitting next to her was another woman with purple pink and light blue striped hair. Blue eyes and skin almost as white as Rarity’s. She had on a green sweater and black jeans.

Chrysalis looked up and smiled at Luna and Sunset. Chrysalis got up and hugged both girls. Which took them both by surprise. Just stood there a second beaming.

She looked at them both and said “What is up my sisters?”

Sunset ducked behind Luna and said semi-mockingly “Mom I’m scared.”

“Chrysalis it’s obvious that you're happy, but calm down and introduce me to your friend here.” Luna said, motioning towards Chrysalis’s friend.

“You’re right, where are my manners? Luna and Sunset, I want you to meet my girlfriend Potion Nova.” Chrysalis said motioning to her girlfriend who got up and walked over to Luna and Sunset.

“Potion Nova nice to meet you both.” She said, extending her hand to both Luna and Sunset.

Luna warmly shook Potion’s hand. Sunset came from behind Luna and did likewise. Potion’s eyes widened seeing Sunset in the flesh. So this was the girl that Chrysalis had gone out of her way for.

“Sunset I have heard a great deal about you. Here, sit down.” Nova said motioning towards the seat at the table.

“So Sunset Chrysalis said you’d had a rough go of it.” Nova said.

“Yeah but things are finally looking up for me at school. I have a mom, two aunts, and some great friends. Now how did you and Chrysalis meet?” Sunset asked.

“That’s a long story. First let me say I’m glad things are looking up for you. Now Chrysalis had to get a physical for her job. Occasionally they make you get another one. Well I just started there at the Bureau fresh out of med school. I gave Chrysalis hers and the whole time she had a hard time keeping her eyes off of me. I could tell she liked what she saw.

Well I finally said apparently you like what you see. Well Chrys blushed and I said well you want to go out on a date. She said ok and we started dating a few days ago and here we are.

Now I have heard something weird about walking, talking, ponies. I want to hear about this.” Potion Nova said.

“That’s a longer story, and you are gonna think I am crazy but I swear it’s all true.” Sunset began. She felt happy her Aunt Chrysalis had found someone new and also felt happy. For once life was going well.

Season Finale Part 1

Sunset sat on the back porch of Applejack’s porch watching Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie having a snowball fight. Her mind went over the last week and how she had been hurt by her “friends”.

Rarity came outside and saw Sunset sitting alone on the back porch. “Sunset Darling we are about to open presents. Don’t you want to come in?”

“No I don’t Rarity. I’d rather have dental surgery without novocain. It would be less painful than last week, mainly Wednesday to Friday.” Sunset replied, getting up to leave.

“Sunset, why are you leaving?” Asked Rarity.

“It’s the company.” Sunset replied.

“Sunset just give me a chance to explain.” Rarity began as she started down the steps after her.

“Oh just like you gave me?” Sunset replied.

Rarity didn’t say anything back. She knew Sunset was right. Rarity had not given her a chance, none of her friends had. Wednesday after the photos were put online that everyone turned on her and it took off for Thursday and Friday.

Sunset just sauntered away and started to leave the property not wanting to be around her so called friends. As she passed the front of the house her mom who had been invited to the party noticed she was leaving. Luna quickly told Apple Cinnamon to hold on a sec and went racing out onto the front sidewalk. Rarity and the rest of the Rainbooms joined Luna.

“Sunset please stop darling, we are trying to make amends with you. What is it going to take?” Rarity asked.

“Sugar cube listen…” Applejack said, stepping forward. She quickly stepped back seeing Sunset make a fist.

“Now Sunset, come inside it’s freezing out here.” Luna said,

“Yeah sunny we got a nice warm fire inside and we are gonna exchange presents. And play a few games and…” Pinkie Pie began.

“Pinkie do me a favor SHUT THE HELL UP!!” Sunset yelled her anger boiling over. Pinkie stepped back and the other Rainbooms were in shock. Sunset hadn’t been like this since before the fall formal. Even Luna was in shock.

Sunset walked over to Pinkie and asked in a serious tone. “Pinkie, have you ever read the bible?” Pinkie, not sure where this was going, just nodded her head scared of the girl in front of her.

“Good there is this passage I memorized Ezekiel 25:17. "The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you." Sunset said, backing Pinkie Pie up and raising a fist.

Rainbow Dash jumped in front of Pinkie Pie real quick and stood face to face with Sunset. “You need to drop it now missy or Dash 3:16 is gonna say “I just whooped your ass.”

We fucked up majorly. I get it. Your aunt’s associates hacked the website trying to find out who it was around the same time Friday night that our sisters admitted it to us. We are bitches granted but threatening Pinkie Pie goes back to the old Sunset. You don’t want that. None of us wants that.” Rainbow Dash told her.

“HAHAHA Rainbow Dash the last few days have shown me I was never your friend. I was Twilight’s charity case. One look and you assume that I went back to my old ways. Just leave me alone.” With that, Sunset turned and walked away.

Rainbow Dash started to go after her. But Luna grabbed her shoulder.

“Rainbow let her go. I’ll talk to her. She’s really upset.” Luna said.

Sunset wandered off to the park. For three days her life had gone back to a living hell. It was the aftermath of the Fall Formal all over again. Sunset shed a few tears. It had all been a lie, a sham. Her mind went back to what Gilda had said in the warehouse. Damned if she hadn’t been right.

“You see when the chips are down these civilized people will eat each other.” That thought ran through Sunset’s head. Damn it Gilda had been right twice with that remark.

Sunset wasn’t sure how long she sat there on the bench in the snow. She gasped when a hand touched her shoulder. She turned around to see her Aunt Celestia standing there smiling. Celestia walked around and brushed snow off the bench and sat down next to Sunset

“Is this seat taken?” She asked, sitting down.

“Hi Aunt Celestia.” Sunset said.

“That’s about the most you said to me in a long time.” Celestia said.

“I have to apologize to you about that. You see back in Equestria when I was the Princess’s prized student. Her name was Princess Celestia and…”Sunset started explaining.

“...And I remind you of her.” Celestia said.

“Yes.” Sunset admitted meekly.

“Sunset I am not that pony princess who dropped the ball on a wonderful girl. I want to connect with you but you keep holding me at arms length. I should have stepped in and stopped this MyStable bullshit when it started. But Luna and I didn’t grow up with stuff like that. The bullying back then was verbally in school and harassing phone calls. Not cyber crime.

The Crusaders as they call themselves are facing serious charges. Cyberbullying, Cyberstalking, Identity Theft. Violating the Computer Fraud and Abuse act of 1986. Although I doubt that last one will stick. They don’t want to plead not guilty.” Celestia.

“Why not?” Asked Sunset.

“First of all, their admission. Second, their laptops will all be seized. Third, the DA’s office has a chief prosecutor named Jack McCoy and he’s tough. He’s been practicing law longer than you have been alive Sunset.” Celestia told her.

“What’s going to happen to them?” Sunset asked.

“Well they have detention for the rest of the year. Whatever their parents decide to do. Plus we have a little surprise for them.” Celestia told Sunset.

“What?” asked Sunset

“You’ll see soon enough.” Celestia said. After that neither of them spoke for what seemed like a long time.

“Sunset I have something I wish to ask you. I want us to be able to connect more. I also want you to feel you can come to me like you can your mom and your Aunt Chrysalis. How would you feel about me taking you for a weekend? We leave school on a Friday and I return you home late Sunday afternoon. What do you say?” Celestia asked.

“It Depends.” Sunset said.

“Depends on what?” Celestia asked.

“If I stay here.” Sunset deadpanned.

“Here, where would you go?” Celestia asked.

“Equestria.” Sunset said again without any emotion.

“You can’t leave. What about your mother, what about your Aunt Chrysalis?” Celestia asked in shock.

“They’ll get over it.” Sunset asked without any emotion.

Celestia shot up as if she was sitting on a spring and looked with disgust and contempt at Sunset.

“My sister took you in and stopped me from expelling you. She was there for you everyday. To dry all your tears, took you home early several times. I know about the thunderstorms too. She could have left you homeless and expelled while you waited 2 ½ years for the portal to open. IF YOU LEAVE YOU WILL DESTROY LUNA!!!” Celestia yelled at the end.

“She’ll get over it.” Sunset said.

“SUNSET!!” Celestia yelled.

“I have to go. I need to know. Tell mom not to worry. I might come back one day.” Sunset said as she stood up and walked off. Celestia wasn’t sure if she should go after Sunset, ultimately she decided to get Luna and took off towards Applejack’s Christmas party.

Meanwhile at the party everyone but the crusaders were having a good time. Apple Bloom was washing dishes. Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo were serving people drinks and bringing dishes back to the kitchen.

Sweetie Belle came back to the kitchen where Apple Bloom was trying her best to keep up with the dishes. Scootaloo had brought back more glasses at this moment.

“I guess we really fucked up this time.” Scootaloo said.

“Yeah at least the party is finally starting to wind down.” Sweetie Belle said.

“Well that doesn’t mean ya’ll can slow down you girls have a lot of work ahead of ya tonight. Nobody leaves until this place is spic and span.” Applejack said. After that she left the kitchen.

“Well girls what do ya think?” Apple Blooms said stepping away from the sink for a few to consort with her friends.

“I feel terrible. I didn’t want Sunset to have a nervous breakdown and cause all these problems.” Sweetie Belle said sadly.

“We are facing serious charges and they are talking about juvenile hall.” Said Scootaloo half heartedly.

“Now Sunset screamed at our sisters and their friends and ran away. We got wha’ we wanted.” Apple Bloom said.

“Then why do I feel like complete crap?” Asked Sweetie Belle.

“Because that’s what we are.” Scootaloo said leaning on the kitchen counter.

“Guys now the heat from Sunset is gonna transfer to us. What do we do now?” Apple Bloom asked.

“Maybe we should spare everyone the pain of having sisters/daughters like us.” Sweetie Belle said.

“That seems like a great option. Let’s clean up first so we don’t get in trouble for that too.” Scootaloo said.

Sunset found herself walking towards Canterlot High School when she ran into someone she had been trying to avoid since before the Fall Formal. Well time to see what he was going to do.

“Hi Sunset.” Flash Sentry greeted Sunset.

“Hi Flash, you really want to talk to me?” Sunset asked.

“I heard Applejack’s sister and her friends were Anon-a-miss. I was hoping you didn’t go back to your old ways. I kinda thought you didn’t.” Flash said.

“Thanks Flash but no one was there when I needed them.” Sunset replied.

“I wasn’t sure how to approach you.” Flash replied,

“Flash, I just wanted to say one thing please. I’m so sorry for just dating you for popularity. I am such a bitch I want to apologize for that.” Sunset apologized.

“Was there ever anything there?” Flash pressed.

“Yes there was. I was just such a bitch I couldn’t show it. I’m not just saying that. I really feel that way. But there are much better women out there than me, Flash. No one wants to date me. I should just become an old cat lady. Maybe the cats would at least like me.” Sunset lamented turning away not wanting Flash to see her break.

Flash saw Sunset hang her head and swore he heard sniffling. He went over and put his hands on Sunset’s shoulders.

She immediately spun around with tears in her eyes. Flash didn’t know what else to do but wrap his arms around Sunset and hold her. Sunset let go. Anon-a-miss had pushed her to the brink and right now her ex-boyfriend was the one consoling her.

After a few minutes Sunset’s crying finally died down. She looked at Flash and he stared back at her. There was still some attraction there but neither one would admit it to the other.

“Flash, thank you for that. I have to go. I need to know.” She said walking away from him.

“You need to know what Sunset?” Flash asked,

“I need to know if this was real, any of it.” She replied,

“If you mean you and I. It was at least on my part.” Flash replied. Sunset walked back to him and remarked “Oh I thought you were a smitten kitten over Twilight.”

“Yeah but that is a pipe dream, she’s a princess in her world. I need someone who's gonna stay here.” Flash remarked. Then he gently took Sunset’s chin in his thumb and pointer finger

“Sunset I believe there is someone out there for you too. You just have to be patient.” Flash said.

“No one seems to be interested. Most people at this school still hate me and turn on me at the drop of a hat.” Sunset said, looking away.

“Then look for someone outside of school, or maybe someone in another school-like Crystal Prep. I know it’s hard to see but that person is out there and I think they are very close. See ya around Shimmer.” Flash said, patting her shoulder, as he walked off.

“Well it’s now or never time to find out the truth.” Sunset said. She looked around to see if anyone was watching. Then she walked through the portal.

Meanwhile…

“I can’t believe how bad we screwed up.” Sweetie Belle said sitting on the front porch,

“What happens now is what worries me.” Apple Bloom replied.

They glanced over where Principal Celestia was talking with Lieutenant Shining Armor.

“Are you sure about this?” Shining Armor asked.

“The parents said to go for it. I am in favor of it too.” Celestia said.

With that Shining Armor and the two officers walked over to the three crusaders. “Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, Scootaloo?” He asked. All three girls nodded and stood up.

“Turn around. Put your hands behind your back. You three are under arrest for Cyber Stalking, Cyber Bullying, and Identity Theft.” Shining Armor went and read them their rights as they were being handcuffed. When he finished and made sure the girls understood what was happening,

As the crusaders were being led away they saw Chrysalis standing by the squad car.

“Why Chrys?” Sweetie Belle pleaded as they were being taken away. Chrysalis put a hand up to one officer to hold a second.

“Sweetie Belle, you three are the ones who decided to commit cyber crimes. I had nothing to do with that. Second, when you mess with my niece I take it personally. Last time someone hurt her we decided not to press charges. This time we are.” Chrysalis told them. With that she walked over to Celestia. As the girls were put in the back of the car.

“I know you and I don’t always see eye to eye but I’m glad we agreed on this.” Chrysalis said.

“Yes, now let’s join my…I mean our sister and look for our niece.” Celestia replied.

Season Finale Part 2

`Sunset stepped through the portal into Equestria. Quickly trying to balance on two legs and then standing on all four. Twilight came into the library to see what the commotion was and saw Sunset standing there getting her balance.

“Sunset, you should have let me know you were coming! Well welcome back anyway. Why are you here? That Anon-a-miss thing you wrote me about?” Twilight asked.

“When the girls turned on me, something became obvious to me. I was Twilight Sparkle’s charity case. Nothing more.” Sunset proudly proclaimed. Twilight stood there in shock, her mouth wide open. Is this what Sunset really thought?

“Admit it, Twilight. I’M NOTHING MORE THAN YOU LITTLE CHARITY CASE!! ANSWER ME DAMN IT!!” Sunset Shouted getting muzzle to muzzle with Twilight.

All of a sudden a purple glow enveloped Sunset and she felt her hooves sliding back a few inches. She became incensed and tried using her magic but Twilight had her hold firmly. She quickly let go of her magic hold.

“Now first off…” was all Twilight got out before she almost got hit by a magic bolt coming from Sunset.

“Sunset what in Tartarus are you doing??!!” Twilight exclaimed.

“I was trying to break your hold on me. Charity director.” Sunset retorted back,

“First of all you were never a charity case. I was trying to get those five to become your friends for two reasons. You were going to need them the way school was going to be. Two TO TEACH YOU THE MAGIC OF FRIENDSHIP!! Obviously that has gone horribly wrong.” Twilight surmised walking around her library.

“I thought things were going great. I did things to help all the girls. They stood up for me and we did things together, sleepovers, hanging out. I was enjoying being a teenager in that world.

Then came Anon-a-miss and the whole thing changed. It made me wonder if we ever were friends, or if I WAS TWILIGHT SPARKLE’S CHARITY CASE.” Sunset said getting louder at the end.

“You were never my charity case.'' Twilight said, walking up beside her. Putting a hoof around her back. Sunset sniffled slightly then just looked at Twilight with tears in her eyes.

“You know I actually had “family” there?” Sunset asked.

“You wrote to me about your mom and two aunts. I think that’s great.” Twilight responded, not sure where this is going.

“I’m thinking about giving all that up and coming back here permanently. Maybe your friends would be true friends to me.” Sunset lamented.

“Sunset, that is crazy. Why would you leave your mom, that would devastate her. Your Luna, and Celestia were not behind Anon-a-miss.” Twilight stated.

“I thought I could have true friends here in Ponyville.” Sunset said.

“Sunset while Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy would all befriend you after a little bit, you finally have a family in the other world. Also I told you to find your family. Those girls are your family and you don’t give up on your family.” Twilight said.

“Even when they give up on you?” Sunset said sadly, hanging her head. Twilight was already cross over this situation. Stuff like this really got under her skin though.

“Sunset, I am going to go to your world and I am going to go...I believe the word in your world is ballistic. I am going to make them rue the day they crossed Twilight Sparkle.” Twilight declared.

“But before we go you said the “crusaders” were responsible right.?” She asked.

“Yeah why?” Asked Sunset

“Relax for a second let me tell you about Gabby Gums.” Twilight began.

Luna and her sisters had been searching for Sunset for over an hour. Sunset was nowhere to be found. Luckily at this time Luna ran into Flash Sentry. Flash told her about his talk with Sunset and about her comment “I need to know if any of it was real ”.

“Thank you Flash, where did she go after that?” Luna asked.

“I’m not sure but we were near the school. She might have taken the portal back to Equestria. Where we dare not follow.” Flash told her.

“Maybe where you dare not follow but I will.” Luna said. Flash grabbed her arm.

“Vice Principal Luna, we don’t know what’s waiting for us over there. Plus we are not one hundred percent sure that’s where she went.” Flash reasoned with her.

“If she’s in horse land or whatever they call it. I can’t reach her. I have no contact with her. I CAN’T LOSE HER! Now get your damn hand off my arm and LET ME GO AFTER HER!!” Luna pleaded as she moved towards the Canterlot statue.

“Just as soon as Luna said that they both looked over at the statue and the base illuminated and Sunset came out and this time she was not alone.

“TWILIGHT!! Flash cried out as he ran over and embraced her as Twilight blushed furiously.

“SUNSET!! Honey, I thought I lost you!!” Luna cried as she held her daughter.

“Sunset she was about to go through the portal to go after you.” Flash told her still holding Twilight.

“Mom you can never cross over to Equestria only Twilight and I can do that. You don’t know what to expect over there Twilight and I know both worlds. It is safer if you don’t ever cross that portal.” Sunset explained.

“I had no way to find you or even contact you. Sunset I love you and can’t lose you like that. I already know when you go to college or move out I’m going to be a wreck.” Luna told her.

“You can adopt another student then. Maybe get me a sister or brother.” Sunset joked.

“I don’t think so.” Luna said,

“Flash I understand the WHOLE SCHOOL turned their back on Sunset. You all have some explaining to do!!” Twilight said firmly, glaring at Flash who had let her go.

‘NO TWILIGHT! Flash was about the only one who did believe me, don’t go off on him.” Sunset told her.

“Your right Sunset where are the five? I AM GOING TO RIP THEM A NEW ONE!!” Twilight almost shouted.

“Follow me.” Said Luna. As she started off towards Sweet Apple Acres with Twilight behind her. Sunset and Flash followed behind her.

“This is gonna be something to see.” Sunset thought both somewhat gleefully and somewhat worried at the same time. A sense of uneasiness was building in her and Flash sensed it.

“You're worried aren’t you?” Flash asked, grabbing Sunset’s hand.

“Yeah a little...I have never seen Twilight this angry.” Sunset replied blushing slightly. Flash let go of her hand realizing for them both, how awkward that was for both of them.

Luna glanced back over that realizing that there is still something there between Flash and Sunset. She smiled slightly and thought maybe Sunset isn’t alone after all. She turned her attention back towards Sweet Apple Acres. That was the goal.

Then she saw the house and the barn. She also saw five girls standing outside the barn by the door.

“Princess Twilight there they are and it’s your show.” Luna said

“Sunset you’re with me. Luna, you and Flash head inside. “ Twilight directed.

Twilight slowly walked over towards the girls, ignoring the cold and Sunset headed over towards them with a face that was so cold you could skate on it.

“I DON’T KNOW WHAT THE HELL YOU FIVE WERE THINKING BUT I DIDN’T LEAVE SUNSET IN YOUR CARE FOR THIS. INSIDE THE BARN NOW!!” Twilight screamed at them. The Rainbooms quickly headed inside and Sunset followed them inside.

Twilight stared the girls down. “If I knew you were gonna treat Sunset like this. I would’ve taken her back to Equestria after the Battle of the Bands.” She stated.

“Mom wouldn’t have allowed that.” Sunset interjected.

“From what I heard from you, you and your mom were on the outs after that incident.” Twilight shot back to her. Sunset just leaned back up against the wall.

“Okay, Rainbooms...This is isn’t about you and your petty secrets that nobody with a fully functioning brain would give an actual fuck about! Also if you don’t think Sunset’s life isn’t being ruined then maybe you should pull your pretty little heads out of your asses and look at how Sunset’s being treated! Because you fucking accused her of being Anon-A-Miss in public! You did it with evidence so fucking flimsy that the whole fucking thing being a frame job set up by fucking children is fucking obvious!! To put it bluntly: GROW THE FUCK UP!!” Twilight scolded looking like a bull ready to charge.

“Twilight such language…”Pinkie began.

“PINKIE PIE ZIPI IT NOW!!” Twilight yelled.

“Girls you are lucky, we are not in Equestria, because I would banish you all to Taurtarus. After the Fall Formal Sunset was picked on everyday, was beaten unconscious, stuffed in her locker, and was taken hostage.

Now this comes along, I just can not believe you did this to her. Where are your brains? In your ass? Sunset, why don’t you come up here and tell them what you think. Tell them what it’s been like.” Twilight finished her rant.

“Since September and the fall formal, my life has been a living hell. It had started to ease some finally then this happens. My own friends turned their backs on me. I was just Twilight’s charity case, admit it.” Sunset said.

None of the girls moved.

“ADMIT IT GIRLS I WAS A CHARITY CASE!! Let me tell you one thing. I am on the verge of having a nervous breakdown with everything I've been through. You girls were my rock, my strength. Then I went on a goodwill tour helping you all out and that quickly you turn on me.

If it wasn’t for Luna I would go back to Equestria with Twilight tonight. I will probably forgive you all one day. I just need time. With that, Sunset turned and walked out of the barn and headed over to the house where the party was all but over.

Big Mac, Apple Cinnamon, and Flash Sentry were cleaning up and Luna was helping them, get things put away. Sunset took off her jacket and jumped right in to help.

“I have to ask, so are you girls happy and satisfied now?” Twilight asked.

All she got was a mumbles of no or not really.

“Speak up, I can’t hear you. C’mon you had no problems speaking up and telling Sunset what you thought.” Twilight said.

"Yes Twilight we are just thrilled to death. No darling, we are not happy at all. Not with our sisters or ourselves." Rarity replied back.

“I don’t get it Twi we forgave Sunset right away and started her journey to being reformed. She should do the same.” Rainbow Dash said standing up.

“YOU’RE DAMN RIGHT YOU DON’T GET IT!! You had family, you had friends. Sunset had no one, nothing. Sunset then got a mother, two aunts, and five girls she considered sisters. Then all of her sisters, over half of Sunset’s family, turned their backs on her.” Twilight came back at Rainbow Dash.

Rainbow Dash sat down. She knew Twilight’s argument was right and compelling. She turned her back on Sunset on flimsy evidence.

“Now where are your sisters? I’d like to talk to them as well.” Twilight asked turning to leave the barn.

“They have been arrested. Shining Armor took them to the station.” Pinkie Pie told her.

Twilight slowly turned around. “Who took them to the station?” She asked.

“Lieutenant Shining Armor.” Pinkie said again.

Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo stepped out of the car and were taken into the police station. All of them had their names recorded and had all of their possessions turned into lockup.

First Apple Bloom had her mugshot taken looking like the weight of the world was on her shoulders.. Sweetie Belle went next looking like she would cry any second. Scootaloo then had their mugshot taken. After that the girls were fingerprinted.

Shining Armor told the booking officer. “The chief said we don’t have to have these girls strip searched or ask about gang affiliations. Just put them in the holding cell. Watch them closely.” He told her.

“What about…” The officer started asking.

“Don’t worry it’s handled.” Shining Armor told him.

The girls were placed into a cell with only two other people in there and one was asleep at the other end of the cell. The other was just sitting there literally twiddling her thumbs.

“Well girls this is where the crusaders have ended up.” Apple Bloom said.

“When that door closed shut on the cell it really resonated we are going to juvenile hall.” Scootaloo said.

“What are you a dictionary?” Asked Sweetie Belle.

“What do you mean?” Asked Scootaloo.

“Resonated.” Sweetie replied.

“Guys were done for. This was the stupidest idea we ever had.” Apple Bloom told the arguing girls.

About this time Chrysalis arrived at the police station. After parking her car she went in and asked to speak to Shining Armor. An officer got him and he walked out to see Chrysalis.

“Well how are our little jailbirds doing?” She asked.

“I think they are scared straight.” Shining Armor replied.

“Well give me one second with them. Can I see them?” Chrysalis asked.

“Sure follow me.” Shining Armor said.

He led Chrysalis down the hall back to the holding cell. She rounded the corner from the hallway to the holding cells. Walking over to the cell that the crusaders were in they looked up but remained seated.

“Do you like your new home?’ Chrysalis asked.

“Chrysalis, can I ask, are you doing this because it’s your niece?” Scootaloo asked.

“When you mess with my family I do take it personally. I didn’t do this-you did. This is all on your own plate, I have nothing to do with it. Shining Armor is the one running this operation not me. You need to ask him and you know why. The charges were told to you.

Finally if someone harms Sunset over Anon-a-miss, because you waited until after school to confess to it. I will file Reckless Endangerment charges on you. So you better hope nothing happens to Sunset.

I talked to Luna and Celestia. You will be brought to the school on Jan. 3rd and before the entire student body you will admit you are Anon-a-miss and then apologize to Sunset Shimmer before being taken back to Juvenile Detention.” Chrysalis explained.

The three girls looked at each other and realized what their future held. It gave Apple Bloom one glimmer of hope.

“Does this mean we are going to juvenile hall?” Apple Boom asked.

“I don’t know, I have to wait until December 26th to hear back on how Jack McCoy wants to charge you. So you girls have a Merry Christmas.” Chrysalis concluded.

With that statement Chrysalis turned and walked away. Entering the hallway she walked over to Shining Armor down at the end of the hall..

“Well what do you think?” He asked.

“They are holding it in but barely both Apple Bloom, and Sweetie Belle look like they are gonna burst into tears any second. I can’t tell with Scootaloo. Also I think Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle are also about to wet themselves in fright again Scootaloo I can’t tell.” Chrysalis told them.

“I will destroy the mugshots and fingerprints.” Shining Armor said.

“Are their parents here?’ Chrysalis responded.

“Yes and so is Principal Celestia.” Shining Armor.

“OK spring them, make sure that Celestia lets them know about Jan. 3. I’m heading home to see my girlfriend. Merry Christmas Shining Armor.” Chrysalis said and headed home to Potion Nova.

Shining Armor went and unlocked the cell. The three girls just sat there figuring he was there for one of the other cellmates. Shining Armor smiled.

“Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo. Come with me.” He said. The three girls stood up and followed him out to see their parents in the lobby.

The girls ran out to see their parents and despite some scolding and Princess Celestia telling them about the school assembly on Jan. 3rd and detention for the rest of the year they were happy to be free and totally remorseful.

Outside of CHS…

Twilight returned home through the portal after learning that the crusaders were being scared straight. Sunset watched her leave and then turned and faced the girls.

“Well Merry Christmas. I better get in bed so Santa Claus will come.” Sunset said as she started to walk away.

“Is this how it all ends?” Rarity asks.

“Perhaps I need to think things over. Oh Happy New Year as well.” Sunset said as she turned and walked away to where Luna was in the car waiting.
