Disclaimer: this story is a prequel to “King Sombra: Babysitter?” Please don’t confuse them with one another. Anywho; here’s the description... .
King Sombra; now having been summoned; is tasked with babysitting a peculiar little filly. How will this fare out for him? For good, or for worse? Only one way to find out... .
King Sombra; now having been summoned; is currently pacing around his part of the cavern because firstly; he’s restless from all of the pentup energy inside him. Secondly; he’s really eager for revenge, but can’t do anything yet because Grogar ordered all the villains to relax first before meeting up with him. And lastly; he’s really angry about his defeat, and wanted payback. That’s all.
“Grrr! I hate waiting!” Sombra said with uncontained anger. “Why can’t we just start now? I’m dying from boredom over here!”
Just then; before he could rant any longer; he suddenly then hears a baby crying. Or at least... a little filly to be specific.
“*sighs in utter annoyance*. Hey.. Sombra.” Tirek started to say a little sheepishly whilst carrying Cozy Glow with his magic. Sombra then looked up at Tirek, and asked; “yeah? What can I do you for?” Tirek was a little hesitant at first, but soon cleared his throat, and asked; “you wouldn’t mind watching over Cozy Glow would you?”
Sombra was thinking for a bit; mostly because he feels that something bad will happen if he accepts; like if it’s a trap or something. After some thinking; he then replies by asking back; “and just why do you want me to watch over her? She barely even knows me. What in the right state of mind would ever give you that sort of idea?”
Just then; Sombra heard Chrysalis throw something; which shattered, and then Chrysalis responded from afar; “because that little goblin is afraid of me and lashed out at me! That’s what!” Unfortunately; due to that little rant; this made Cozy Glow even more cranky; or something along the lines of it, and then she began crying even more loudly than ever before.
To make things clear; usually Cozy Glow is rather in fact a villain; whom cries sarcastically just to get whatever she wants. But... since she first met Queen Chrysalis; her filly instincts took over, and this was the result. Without further ado; here’s the rest of the story... .
“So; will you do it?” Tirek asked in anticipation. After some thorough thinking; King Sombra replies; “deal.” Tirek then says; “great”, and hands off Cozy Glow to King Sombra. “See you whenever.”
Sombra blinked, then says; “wait what?” However; before he could object any further; Tirek was gone, and then it was just him and Cozy Glow; albeit crying a little now since she’s calmed down a bit.
“So...” began Sombra. “What is it that you wanna do now?” Cozy Glow thinks for a while; before saying; “I wanna play.” Sombra sighs, then says; “depends... . What do you have in mind?” Cozy Glow starts thinking some more, and then whispered to him her little game that she wants to play once she’s thought of one.
Few hours have passed, and this was the result. “Come back here!” Sombra says with makeup on his face. How is there makeup on his face? Simple. Cozy Glow just somehow managed to sneak in some makeup from Rarity’s boutique, and then decided to hide them for until she wants to use them. And oh boy did she use them.
Cozy Glow; being the mischievous filly that she is; giggles adorably, and says; “can’t catch me”, whilst sticking her tongue out and blowing a raspberry at Sombra. With that in mind; he got angry, went into a form filled with rage and shadow flames, and then grasped Cozy Glow mid flight.
With her now in his clutches; King Sombra began by saying; “listen here you little insect! I will not have, and I mean, I will not have my authority, myself, and my honor, challenged by the likes of you! Is that understood?!” With that in mind; Cozy Glow started to whimper with her eyes watering as she was being yelled at by Sombra.
Seeing this; Sombra took a breath to calm down, returns to his original form, and then says; “look kid; next time; no more games that doesn’t involve ruining my face; got it? And no more disrespecting me either; okay?” Cozy Glow then sniffled whilst nodding her head in approval, and began to wipe away her tears. “Good”, said Sombra. “Glad to hear it.”
“So... what’re we gonna do while Cozy’s with King Sombra?” Chrysalis said once she’s calmed down. Tirek sighs, and says; “I don’t know... wanna fight?” Chrysalis stifled a laugh in that response, and says; “I don’t know bout that... I might beat you.” Tirek scoffed it off and said; “oh please. If anything; I might beat you.” Chrysalis smirked at that idea, and asks; “wanna bet?” Tirek responded; “you’re on.” And then the two got into battle stances, and began fighting.
Meanwhile; in King Sombra’s part of the cavern... .
“Wow.. I’m bored”, King Sombra said in a huff. Cozy Glow sighed, then replied; “you’ve said it. I’m bored too. Heck; I’m bored as...”. However; before she could finish her sentence; King Sombra covers her mouth with his shadow hand, and then says; “if you even think about saying a bad word, I’ll hit you hard; so hard that your cheek will look like a reddish tomato; got it?” Cozy Glow nodded, and covered her mouth with her hooves. “Good...” began Sombra; “that’s good.”
“Wow...” began Tirek; “you hit hard.” Queen Chrysalis smiled, then said; “thank you”, and stood up; “not that many of my allies were standing after their training with me.” Tirek was breathing heavily; mostly from exhaustion, and says; “you’ve said it.” Afterwards; Tirek collapsed, and then Chrysalis stood over him saying; “sleep tight”, and began feeding on his love without him knowing it.
Few hours later... .
“Ugh!... . Don’t you ever get tired of doing this?” Sombra asked as Cozy Glow is currently crying. From what? Who knows? But what he does know is that it’s basically not his fault this time. Least; not yet anyways... .
Cozy Glow sniffles whilst wiping her nose, and said; “sowwy. But I’m hungwy.” Sombra sighs, then says; “so what? We don’t have any food at all. And besides..” Sombra began as he peeled his head out of the cavern opening to check out to see if the coast’s clear; “...you heard what Grogar said; no leaving until he says so. Got it?” Unfortunately; this made Cozy Glow whine and cry even harder; mainly because she’s still hungry, and that it’s getting worse by the minute. Sombra growled to himself, and asks; “can this day get any worse?” Just then a loud crash can be heard, and some slight shouting. “I’ll take that as a yes... “.
“How dare you!” Tirek said in a huff. Chrysalis replied; “how dare I? What’d you expect?! I’m a changeling; I need love; not food!”
This basically went on for a couple more minutes; before Sombra stepped in; carrying Cozy Glow; and then starts shouting; “enough! Don’t y’all wanna get your heads driven into those walls there?” He then points to the cavern walls as if trying to make a point. Both Tirek and Chrysalis shook their heads no, and then King Sombra responded; “that’s what I figured”, and left with Cozy Glow. But before he left; Tirek asked; “wait; where’re you going?” Sombra sighed, then said; “well; it’s either let her starve, or feed Cozy Glow. What do you think?” Tirek nodded his head, and then said; “fair enough”, and left. But then; Chrysalis asked; “can I come with?” and gave a pleading gesture. With a sigh; King Sombra said; “fine. But you’re staying with me; got it?” Chrysalis nodded her head, and then Sombra said; “good; let’s go.” and then lead Queen Chrysalis with him.
Once they made it to another part of the cavern; they checked everywhere to see if there’s any food for her; (since after all it’s a cavern, and not an actual house).
“Grr; I can’t find any food for her; you?” began Queen Chrysalis as she’s given up looking. Sombra sighs; then replies with; “not really; no.”
Cozy Glow’s belly then starts to growl loudly; causing her to bend over, and whine because of the feeling of hunger getting stronger. “Hurry”, she whined.
Well... just before the two villains were gonna think of doing something rash to get Cozy Glow her food; (ie; leaving the caverns to go get some food from Ponyville; despite Grogar’s warnings and all); Tirek came out with a baby bottle in his hand.
The two villains looked on with raised eyebrows; and then Chrysalis asked; “wait.. what’s that?” Tirek then replied; “it’s a baby bottle full of milk.” Sombra then asked; “and why did you bring something like that here?” Tirek rubbed the back of his head sheepishly, then replied; “well... it’s either that; or have Grogar kick our butts; hehe.” Sombra nodded, and said; “alright; but where exactly did you get it from?”
Saving Tirek from embarrassment; Cozy Glow stood up; albeit a little flustered with embarrassment, and then said; “he got that from me...”. Sombra blinked, and then said; “seriously? I mean; why and how come? You’re not a baby anymore. So why’re you having something like this? Is there something wrong with you?”
Cozy Glow shook her head, and then replied; “i-it’s not that. It’s just... when I was still imprisoned in Tartarus with Tirek; I’ve been getting... nightmares. Nightmares that I simply can’t forget or recover from. So, whenever I would have these nightmares; Princess Luna would occasionally comfort me by defeating my nightmares, and then giving me a baby bottle of milk afterwards to help with finishing my comfort. I hesitated at first, but then eventually I kinda grew into it, and I kinda like it. See?”
All of the villains were stunned; (except Grogar since he was busy doing something else), and then Chrysalis starts to say; “seriously? I mean; wow. You really are a wittle baby aren’t you?” she teased. This made Cozy Glow whine, and state; “I’m not a baby. I’m a big girl now; okay? So you hush up now!” Tirek then began to laugh out of slight amusement.
However; just before Cozy Glow could cry again; Sombra then took the bottle from Tirek, and kicked him on one of his hooves for good measure, kicked Chrysalis on one of her backhooves to get her to stop laughing at Cozy as well, and then picked up Cozy Glow so he can feed her.
Sombra then began to say; “well; if Cozy’s a baby and all, then so what? You wouldn’t necessarily make fun of a baby now would you?” Both of the villains blushed, and both Tirek and Chrysalis said in unison; “no...”. Sombra nodded, and said; “that’s what I figured”, and turned to Cozy Glow. “Ready for your bottle buddy?” Cozy Glow was a bit hesitant at first, but eventually sighed, and then grabbed the bottle with her forehooves before suckling on it.
“See? So what if Cozy’s a baby? You wouldn’t really make fun of her if she actually was; would you?” said Sombra whilst he’s holding onto Cozy Glow. Again; both Tirek and Chrysalis said; “no”, in unison, and shook their heads. “That’s what I figured”, Sombra explained.
After a few minutes, Cozy Glow sighed with relief that her hunger is gone, but then gave a loud burp in the process. Embarrassed; Cozy Glow said; “excuse me”, and covered her mouth with her cheeks blushing.
Sombra chuckled, and then said; “it’s fine kid; better out than in right?” Cozy nodded, and covered her face with her wings due to slight embarrassment. Chrysalis saw what Cozy was doing, and said; “awww; she really is like a little baby huh?” Cozy Glow whined and kicked at that response whilst still being carried by King Sombra.
“Maybe..” he began. “But I wouldn’t really call her that if I were you. Remember the last time back at your hive when one of your changelings accidentally turned you into one?” Chrysalis blushed, and then exclaimed; “they had a cold, okay? What’d you expect?” This made Cozy Glow giggle, and Queen Chrysalis get red with rage.
However; before Chrysalis could lash out at her and Sombra; Grogar called from afar that it’s time to come up with a plan to rule Equestria. And with that; they’re off.
However; just before they left; Cozy Glow tugged onto King Sombra’s arm, and then asked; “wait.. Sombra? Are we really gonna do this? Cuz... I’ve been thinking...”. Sombra sighs, and then says; “you know what kid? It’s fine; alright? I promise that things will be alright; okay?” Cozy nodded, but then said, “a-and if not? What happens next?” Sombra stopped momentarily, gave out a huge sigh, and then says; “and if it doesn’t work out, then I’m sure that you can handle it; okay? It’ll be alright pal; trust me.” Cozy Glow was hesitant, and began to say; “b-but..” but was cut off by Sombra putting a shadow finger to her mouth before she could say anything else. “But nothing; okay? If anything were to happen to us, just note that everything will be alright, okay? And who knows? Maybe we’ll see each other again one day; okay?” Cozy Glow whined a little, but then nodded, and said; “okay”, and laid her head on Sombra’s shoulder. He then said; “okay then”, and continued on to join the other villains.
A few hours after Sombra’s defeat... .
“Well... I guess we’ll have to work together now huh?” Queen Chrysalis said in a state of shock. “Eeyup; guess so now.” Tirek said in a huff. “I mean, seriously; if he wasn’t so self centered, we could’ve actually...”.
But before Tirek could finish his sentence; Cozy Glow hitted Tirek in the chest; (which didn’t hurt), and then shouted; “what; win? If you two hadn’t been so hard on him, then maybe he wouldn’t be like that, would he?” Chrysalis blinked, then said; “I guess so, but..”. Cozy Glow interrupted by saying; “but nothing! You two ought to be ashamed of yourselves!” And then she left to go back to her part of the cavern.
With Tirek and Chrysalis alone; Tirek began to ask; “wanna fight?” Chrysalis sighed, then smirked before saying; “you’re on”, and then assumed combat positions with Tirek. And with that; the fight is on.
