> The Lost And Found Treasure of Griffonstone > by TheSuperTransformerFan > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > We Have To Cooperate With Each Other, Even If That Means Saving The Idol As Well! > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rainbow Dash was on her way to reclaim the Idol of Boreas to Griffonstone. Armed with her helmet and her rope, she made it to the gorge. Once she saw how immense it was, she sure didn’t know how to get there. “You sure we can't just fly down?” she asked. She decided to fly down to see for herself, only for the wind to hit her and send her back to the high ground. She landed with a thud. “Whoa!” She said in shock. “Never mind. I totally got my answer there.” She started down the gorge with her rope tied to a nearby rock, with one salesgriffin holding it. “Just gotta find that golden idol and get out of this place.” She thought out loud as she jumped slowly down. Unfortunately, as she made her way down, the rope snagged on a ledge and snapped. Rainbow Dash screamed as she was violently thrown up onto a ledge in the gorge. She landed on her hoof funny, and somehow sprained her hoof. “Ow, ooh! My hoof!” she said as she felt it. The pain hit a 50 on a scale of 1 to 10. She knew she couldn’t do this on her own. “Help!” She called up to the griffin. “Throw me another rope!” “You got bits?” The sales griffin asked. Rainbow Dash nodded no, as the griffin just left her there on her own. “Wait!” She called out as the bird left. “Heeeeeelp...!” Now the Pegasus really was on her own without anyone to help her. She got out a bandage from her knapsack and tied it to her hurt hoof. She decided to give it a go again, only to be thrown violently again by the wind, as she landed with a thud. She screamed for help. Luckily, a voice called out back to her. “There you are!” She looked up and saw that it was Pinkie Pie. “Forget about finding the idol!” She shouted. “I figured out how to solve Griffonstone's real problem – scones!” She left the Pegasus. “Pinkie Pie, you get back here!” Rainbow shouted angrily. Luckily, she came back. “Yeah?” she asked. “Can you throw down a rope or something?” her friend called out from the gorge. “Lemme look!” Pinkie called out. She left her friend again, who was waiting for her rope. She came back. “One rope coming up!” She tossed the rope to Rainbow, as she caught it, but the whole rope was tossed down. Rainbow grumbled. Pinkie knew she needed help and fast. “We need help.” She left again, only to return to her friend once more. “Don't go anywhere!” She shouted as she left...again. Rainbow sighed in frustration. “Where does she think I'm gonna go?” she thought out loud to herself. At that moment, the rock she was on broke off, forcing her to go to a part of the rock that wasn’t broken. She pinned herself to the rock wall nervously. “I hope I don't go anywhere!“ she said, panicking. She had to wait for someone to rescue her, and hoped that it wasn’t too late. Meanwhile, Gilda had just taken out a fresh batch of scones from the oven. She put one in her mouth, and enjoyed it. At that moment, Pinkie rushed over to her. “Rainbow Dash is stuck on a ledge in the Abysmal Abyss, and I need your help to save her!” she said to her frantically. “Not my problem.” she said defiantly. “Of course it's your problem!” Pinkie tried to point out worriedly. “She's your friend!” “Used to be.” Gilda said, staying defiant “Can't you remember when she was?” Pinkie asked the stubborn griffin. Gilda thought for a moment, and remembered when she first met Rainbow Dash. “Yeah.” She said calmly, reminiscing. “Of course.” It happened at Cloudsdale at Junior Speedsters Flight camp. Gilda was a newbie, and she was nervous. One day, Rainbow Dash flew by her quickly. The Griffin was shocked by such tremendous speed. Hoops, and his lackeys flew to her laughed. “Doesn't that griffon know she's supposed to fly at the Junior Speedsters Flight Camp?” He said as they laughed hysterically. They got their answer by Rainbow giving them a cloud in the face. “Maybe she just doesn't want to make you look bad!” She said to them. She flew right to the nervous young griffin. “Hey there, I'm Rainbow Dash!” She introduced herself. “And you are...?” ”Uh... G-G-G-G-Gilda.” Was all she could say. ”You sure about that?” The young Pegasus asked. The griffin nodded. “Stick with me, Gilda, and those guys won't give you any more guff.” She took the griffin’s hand, and they maneuvered through many obstacles. Gilda managed to soar through the cloud hoops without a sweat! Rainbow Dash was excited by this. “Whoa!” She cried out in excitement. “You're awesome!” ”You too, Rainbow Dash!” Gilda said excitedly as they flew by. The three colts were shocked at the two young fliers, whizzing past them. Rainbow caught up with the griffin. “Well, Gilda, let's show these guys how it's done!” She said as they playfully rammed into the colts, knocking them out of they way. They then met up with each other, and did their flight camp cheer, that the camp does. Junior Speedsters are our lives... Skybound soars and daring dives... Junior Speedsters, it's our quest to someday be the very best! They hugged each other in excitement, little realizing that it would spark a friendship that neither of them would forget. (And now, back to the episode!) Gilda recalled the memory, and it made her well up with tears. She wiped the tear away, and knew what she must do. “Fine. I'll help her.” she admitted. “But that doesn't make me her friend.” “Duly noted.” Pinkie agreed. As the griffin started toward her friend, Pinkie turned to us, the readers. “Except it does!” Annnd, she just broke the fourth wall! :) Back at the Abysmal Abyss, Rainbow was still trapped at the ledge, which was cracking each time she made a step back. She braced herself for the worst. But, just when it would almost be the end for her, a voice called out to her. “Hang on, loser! I'm coming!” the voice said. Rainbow knew that voice. It was Gilda, and she started down the ledge, armed with a rope and a helmet....the same thing Dash was armed with. Rainbow was happy that her old friend was here to help her. “What took you so long, doofus?!” she jokingly called out. Gilda was trying to get to her, only for the wind to violently throw her back up to the wall. The griffin knew what she was up against. At that moment, the rock gave way, making her fall through the abyss. “Rainbow Dash! I'm coming for you!” Pinkie shouted, as she took the rope and dived down the abyss, taking Gilda with her! Rainbow was falling through, and it looked like it would be the end for her. Luckily, Pinkie caught her just in time. “Gotcha!” she said. They all screamed as the two ponies fell through two ledges, while the griffin caught one of the ledges. “Hold on, you two!” Gilda said, as she started to climb up the ledge. She then saw a skeletal griffin on the ledge she was one. Gilda gasped in shock as she recognized it as the remains of King Grover. She then saw a shining gold statue on the other ledge. “The Idol of Boreas!” she said, as the statue glinted into her vision. She tried to reach for it, and her finger snagged onto it. Rainbow and Pinkie were both still struggling, but their grip started to weaken. “I'm slipping!” Rainbow panicked. Gilda struggled to get the idol, but suddenly realized that her friends were in danger as well. Her claw, made the idol slip to the edge of the ledge. Gilda knew she couldn’t save all three of them, so she pulled the two ponies up to safety, and herself. They were safe! However, the idol wasn’t, as it fell through the crevice of the abyss. It looked like it would be lost forever. “The idol!” Rainbow said in shock they saw it fell far to the ground. “We gotta get that idol!” Pinkie said, as she noticed Gilda starting to take them back to the surface. “Hey, what are you doing?!” “You're more important to me than some dumb chunk of gold.” Gilda said to them as she started to take them up. “That's not important now!” Rainbow said, as she swatted away her friend’s claws “We’ve got only seconds to save Griffonstone!” “But, that gold doesn’t matter to me!” Gilda said worriedly. “You two do! I can’t just leave you there!” Rainbow facehoofed in frustration and told her. “Gilda, we have to cooporate with each other, or else Griffonstone won’t be prosperous or harmonized, even if it means saving the idol as well!” She said, bluntly. Gilda sighed in resignation. “For once, you're right, Dash.” She gave in. “What do we do?” “I've got an idea.” Rainbow said. “Remember what we did to Hoops and his comrades?” “Oh, you mean our flight maneuver at flight camp?” she asked confused. Rainbow giggled. “Yeah, that.” She admitted. “Well, I think it can work again.” “Yeah, it sure can.” Gilda said bravely, before switching back to confusion. “It can?!” “Uh, HELLO?!” Pinkie said, getting their attention. “We’re in big trouble, fellas!” They looked down at the abyss, and knew what they had to do! “Our timing has to be perfect!” She said to her. “Timing is my middle name!” Gilda said as she jumped down from the rock as zoomed to the bottom. At that moment, the rock they were on started to give way, and the two ponies were screaming as they held onto each other for dear life. Gilda zoomed to the bottom as fast as her griffin wings could carry her. Finally, she saw a golden, sparkling idol right in front of her. She hit the jackpot. She scooped up the idol, and gave her friends the thumbs up. “I got it!” She shouted. “Okay, Gilda!” Rainbow called out from the breaking ledge. “Let her rip!” Gilda obeyed, and she soared high up from the abyss, taking her friends with her! Just in time, too, as the rock beneath them gave way and broke to the bottom of the gorge. They both soared high out of the abyss, that Gilda’s wing power emitted a force that sprung them out of the crevices, and onto the surface. They landed on the ground, unharmed...with the exception of Rainbow’s hoof sprained. Gilda saw the idol in her hand, and it wasn’t damaged. She had done it! She jumped up, and cheered in major excitement, as the two ponies did the same. “We did it!” Rainbow Dash shouted in sheer excitement. “We saved Griffonstone!” Gilda shouted victoriously. At that moment, the idol was taken out of her claws by Grandpa Gruff. They were shocked as they saw him. “Thanks for the delicious scones, Gilda!” He said happily. “These are really tasty. Well, won’t be needing this, anymore!” He threw the idol of Boreas in the trash, as he happily enjoyed another scone. “Huh?!” Gilda, Pinkie and Rainbow said in shock and confusion as they saw what just happened. Later, the three were walking around the town after their successful failure mission. “I'm really sorry about how I treated you two.” The griffin confessed. “Thanks, Gilda.” Rainbow said happily. “Apology accepted.” Pinkie added. “I’m glad we got the idol back, and solved Griffonstone’s problem.” Rainbow added. “Yeah.” Gilda agreed. “Too bad Grampa Gruff threw it in the trash. I don’t know why he said we didn’t need it anymore.” “Yeah. Me neither.” Rainbow said, as she noticed a death glare from Pinkie. “Uh, Pinkie? You’re not mad, are you?” Pinkie got right into the Pegasus’s face. “Like I was trying to tell you...The map didn't send us here to find the lost Idol of Boreas. It sent us here to replace it with something better!” She screamed at her. Rainbow and Gilda were both taken aback by the party mare’s reaction, and jumped back. “Really?” Gilda spoke up. “Because nothing’s better than gold to a griffon.” “What are you saying?” Rainbow added. “I’m saying that the map sent us to replace gold with scones!!!” Pinkie said angrily at them. “Did you two not see that?!” Her friend’s ears flopped in embarrassment and sadness, as they had completely missed the whole point. They looked at each other and back at Pinkie. “Sorry.” They both said regretfully. Pinkie then shifted back to happiness. “That’s alright.” She told them, as she turned to Gilda. “If you can learn to care about each other again, Griffonstone could be a mightier kingdom than it ever was before! And you don't need some golden idol to do that. You just need each other.” “Whoa, Pinkie. That was... really sappy.” Rainbow said, as she started to let out tears of joy. “Eh, what can I say? That's how I roll.” Pinkie said, as she noticed a griffin walking by. She got an idea. “Go on, Gilda! Go make a friend!” Rainbow handed her a plate of scones, while Pinkie gave her a push in the right direction. “I don't know, Pinkie.” Rainbow said with worry, she saw this. “You really think these griffons are up for this? We aren't exactly in Ponyville, you know.” She got her answer when the other griffin accepted the scone. Both were surprised at the results. Gilda flew back at them. “Okay, so she was really weirded out until I gave her the scone.” She said with excitement and shock. “Then she tried it and said it tasted good! That's the first nice thing anygriffon's ever said to me!” Just then, Rainbow and Pinkie both saw that their flanks were glowing, which meant that their friendship mission was complete. “Whoa, Pinkie. I guess that really was the problem we needed to solve.” The Pegasus said in realization. “Which you could’ve seen sooner.” Pinkie said, giving her another death stare, before turning back to Gilda. Rainbow shrunk in fear, before recoiling herself back to her normal posture. “Well, we'd better be heading home.” she said. “What?!” The griffin said in shock and worry. “Y-Y-You want me to spread friendship here by myself?! How am I supposed to do that?! I haven't even made one single friend yet!” “No, you haven't.” The Pegasus said. “You've made two.” They all smiled. “Hugging! Hugging now!” Pinkie said, pulling the two in for a group hug, as she was tearing up with joy. “But you'll come back and visit, right?” Gilda asked, still in that hug with Pinkie. “Just try and stop us!” Rainbow said sarcastically. Gilda then carefully broke the hug, and waved goodbye as the two ponies parted ways with their old griffin friend. As they left, Pinkie turned to the statue of King Grover one last time. “See ya later, you old charmer.” she said, slyly. “Uh, Pinkie? Who are you talking to?” Her friend asked confused. “Nopony!” Pinkie said, nervously. “Come on, let's go home and see how Gummy did with Granny Pie's marjolaine recipe!” Rainbow nodded as the two left Griffonstone and started back to Ponyville. They couldn’t wait to tell Twilight how successful they were at their first “true” friendship problem. They both wondered what her reaction would be. Meanwhile in Ponyville, back at Sugarcube Corner, Pinkie’s pet Gator, Gummy was still in the same motionless position he was in when they left for their Friendship problem. In other words, he didn’t do any baking while Pinkie was gone.
