Prologue: The Domestic Life
It was another normal day in Equestria, Chameleo's team was visiting for a week. They were having fun times, and those without wings wondered what it would be like to fly.
"Hey, I have a question for all of those without wings; What would it be like to fly?" Pinkie asked.
"Honestly, it would be great." AJ replied as everyone else agreed.
Then once again, a portal appeared out of nowhere.
"Another portal, another adventure!" Rainbow Dash said.
"You got that right, RD." Raptor agreed.
"So, where we headed this time?" Sonic asked.
"Maybe somewhere that'll turn us into birds." Pinkie said with a squee, confusing everypony in the room. Then again, it was Pinkie Pie being Pinkie Pie, so they decided not to question.
"Well then everyone..." Chameleo started off.
"Let's go!" Chameleo, Viper and Twilight said in unison.
"YEAH!" Everyone else agreed as they cheered.
"Yay." Fluttershy softly cheered.
So they went into the portal, going through the vortex as another window to the past appeared.
"Wonder what we're gonna see this time." Soulfire said.
"Yeah, what's gonna happen?" Makoto agreed as she asked.
Song: Real in Rio (Beginning)
The window showed them something beautiful; a free forest, on the outskirts of a city, with a bird on a branch watching the sunrise. There were birds singing as the yellow bird flew through the forest, waking up more birds, then moving along with the beat. The Elements of Harmony couldn't help, but dance to the rhythm as well, and like it.
"Whoo! That's a hot beat!" Datozo happily said, dancing.
"Indeed, that music sounds simply divine." Rarity agreed.
"Hearing it makes me feel like I can fly freely." Morrigan said, dancing as well.
"Yeah! I feel like I just sprouted wings just by listening to that rhythm!" Spike agreed excitingly.
"Me too!" The others without wings said as they boogied with the music.
"E a Ilha diz!" A red bird yelled as he flew by.
Then the birds landed on branches as they started to sing something.

Do what we love most of all
We are the best at Rhythm and Laugher
That's why we love Carnaval!
All so clear we can sing to
Sun, Nature's big Moon
Dance to the music, passion, and love
Show us the best you can do
Then the window showed the team a sleeping baby blue spix macaw, his tailfeathers shaking with rhythm, waking him up. He looked around, saw his tail shaking, and started to dance smiling.

The baby blue macaw saw a mother yellow macaw throw two baby macaw, and then those young ones started to fly.
"Oh, those cute baby birds are flying." Fluttershy happily said.

You can't feel it all by yourself
Then all of a sudden, a net fell down, capturing two macaws, scaring the baby blue macaw. Then left and right, traps sprung everywhere, taking many birds hostage. The baby blue macaw fell, trying to fly but failed, getting himself caught and sold. The members of the team felt terrible for the poor baby macaw, but Fluttershy wasn't just sad, she was also angry at the poachers. The window then time-skipped to a place called Moose lake, in Minnesota. A truck driver hitting the brakes at a red light, making a crate fall out, containing the blue baby macaw. Then the crate was opened by a young girl wearing glasses who kindly picked the poor bird and showing him love and affection, which the bird gave back. "It's okay. It's okay. Shh... Shh... I'll take care of you." Young Linda said with love and affection.
"Aw..." The Elements of Harmony said, even Team Loyalty, who weren't much into mushy stuff.
The window closed, signaling the teams that they were about to transform.
"So the change starts." Soulfire said.
"Yeah." Makoto agreed.
Everyone in the vortex began to change shape. Their legs and back pair of hooves turned into talons of a bird. Their arms and front pair of hooves turned into or merged with their wings. Some grew feathered tails, with the others' tails changed into tailed feathers. Their mouth changed into beaks, and feathers formed all around their bodies. They all transformed into macaws, but Twilight and Rarity still had their unicorn horns, Datozo's back was still rock-solid, Tails still had two tails, Makoto's tail was more poofy, and Viper, Spike, Vector, Blade and Mamota's feathers felt more scaly. Cheese was the only one who didn't change shape, but the three brothers turned into the three strange birds. Chameleo turned into a black bird with red eyes, and his feathers looked metallic, Raptor turned into a black and white bird with a red-tipped, black crest extends over his head, and Soulfire turn into a red bird with black and gray feathers. This bewildered everyone, except Pinkie who looked like she was enjoying it. Then they reached the end of the vortex, heading into a new world.
Meanwhile, at Moose Lake, at a library/book shop, an alarm clock went off, and a woman tried to turn it off and did, but the alarm was still on. She even unplugged it, still hearing it, she looked up, seeing a blue spix macaw sounding the alarm clock. She touched his beak, making it stop as the bird putted glasses on the woman. "(Chuckle) Good morning Blu." She and her pet macaw began to get ready for the day, the woman brushing her teeth and Blu brushing his beak. Then they made breakfast, but ran into a bit of trouble taking vitamins. "Ugh, Tyler Blu Gunderson, you know these vitamins are good for you." The woman said in discomfort, then she got an idea to distract him. "Ooh, what's this? Gotcha!" She said triumphantly, getting Blu to swallow his medicine. Then the blue macaw had fun riding a toy fire truck sliding the rails to downstairs and landing on the woman's wrist. "Whoo!" The woman cheered as she and Blu logged on to her computer, opened their store and fist/talon-bumped.
After that, during the night, Blu was reading an aerial flight-guide for birds. "Hmph, Natural insticts! There's nothing natural about being thrown halfway across the room. Well, I'll show him. I can do this. I just have to work out the physics. I have quadrated my vector angles. I've adjusted for wind shear. Positive reinforcement. Good." Blu said as he closed the book and began to check his parts for flying. "Okay, let's see. Flaps open. Perfect. Landing gear. Check. Tail flaps. Operational. And, actually, not bad. This is it. Let's fly." Blu confirmed as a flight way path lit up. "Just keep it simple. Thrust, lift, drag and weight. Thrust, lift, drag, weight. Thrust, lift, drag, weight. Thrust, lift, drag... Wait!" Blu panicked as he grabbed onto a cord to stop himself from falling. He stopped, making him sigh with relief, but then the cord disconnected causing him to fall and hang, tangled in Xmas lights.
"Blu?" Linda asked with concern as she came downstairs, only to see Blu tangled up.
Later, in the morning...
"I promised I would always look out for you, didn't I? And have I ever broken a promise?" Linda asked Blu, who looked at her for her first question, and looked away as a no to answer her second question. "I'm scared, too but I wouldn't make you do this if it wasn't the right thing to do. What do you say, Blu?" Linda asked Blu again, then they fist/talon-bumped again. "That's my big, brave boy. And we'll be back home before we even know it." Linda told Blu as they started on their trip to Rio de Janeiro.
