The Rainbooms meet the Magic Misfits

It was a beautiful Saturday morning in Canterlot City. After practicing for a concert on the next day, Twilight and her friends made their way to Canterlot State Park. Twilight received a message that all seven girls come to the park.

“Are you sure about this, Twi?” Rainbow Dash asked.

“I’m positive.” Twilight answered. “My message on my phone said that all of us should be here.”

“But, who sent it?” Sunset Shimmer wondered.

“I don’t know. I just got this feeling about it though.”

“Excuse me, ladies.” Said the voice of a young boy.

The girls soon spotted a young boy with blond hair. He wore a white shirt, black pants with suspenders, and black shoes.

“Howdy, young’un.” Applejack greeted. “Are y’all lost?”

“I certainly am not lost, Miss Applejack.” The boy replied.

Fluttershy was surprised about this kid. “You know who we are?”

“Yes I do, Fluttershy. Me and my friends saw one of your concerts.”

“I guess we have fans of all ages.” Sunset figured.

Rainbow Dash looked at the kid with interest. The kid looks familiar somehow. But, where did I see him before?

The young boy pulled out a deck of cards, and went over to Twilight.

“Pick a card, Miss Sparkle.” The boy said. “Any card.”

Taking the advice, Twilight pulled out a card. She looked at it. It turned out to be the Ace of Diamonds.

“Now,” The boy suggested, “study that card carefully, and place it back in the deck.”

After about twenty seconds, Twilight slips the card near the bottom of the deck. The boy shuffled the deck, and took the top card up. Then, he asked Twilight. “Is this your card?”

Twilight saw that it was the Ace of Diamonds. She was shocked. “How did you do that?”

“It is amazing what you can do while traveling.” The boy replied.

Rainbow Dash then approached the boy, and called him out. “Now, I know where I saw you! You’re that street magician, Carter Locke! Right?”

“That is correct, Miss Rainbow Dash.” The boy named Carter replied.

The other girls are surprised to hear that name.

“Carter Locke?” Rarity gasped. “Where have I heard that name before?”

“That young fella is part of a troupe called the Magic Misfits.” Applejack answered.

“Oh, yes. Now, I remember.”

Soon, a girl with frizzy red hair and wearing a white shirt and long red skirt rolled to the group in a wheelchair.

“Sounds like the honorable farm girl knows of our reputation.” The girl said.

Applejack blushed at the comment. Soon, she heard something rustling behind a bush. “Pardon me.”

As Applejack heads for that bush, Fluttershy walks up to the girl. “I heard of you. You must be Ridley Larson. I heard that you’re a code breaker.”

“You’re right, Miss Fluttershy.” Ridley replied. She then pulls out a notebook. “With my notebooks by my side, I can decipher any message.”

“Don’t you also have a knack to turn one thing into something completely different?” Sunset asked.

“I do, Miss Shimmer. But, I save that trick for our magic shows.”

“Fair enough.”

Applejack came out of a bush, carrying a young girl with dark brown wavy hair. Everybody gasped that she was bound with a straitjacket, and her legs are tied together. Only Carter and Ridley aren’t shocked.

“Can somebody call a mental hospital?” Applejack said with worry.

Twilight looked at the girl, then realized who she is. “Don’t panic, guys. That’s Leila Vernon, the escape artist of the group.”

Soon, Leila spoke up. “Miss Applejack, can you please put me on the ground?”

The farmer girl places the bound girl on the ground. Leila looks at the crowd.

“An escape artist?” Rainbow Dash gasped. She then got skeptical. “Yeah, right.”

“A doubter. Huh?” Lelia replied. “Just watch.”

Leila started squirming, attempting to escape the straitjacket. The crowd watched carefully as is looks like the sleeves are empty. Her hands went down to the bottom of the jacket. She feels for the buckles, and carefully undo them. One minute later, she lifts the straitjacket, and throws it away as she unties her legs.

“Unbelievable!” Rarity shouted.

“Wowee!” Pinkie chirped.

Leila Vernon soon stood up, revealing her red jacket with a black shirt underneath. She also has on beige pants and brown boots.

“What do you think now, Rainbow Dash?” Leila asked.

The athletic girl looked like she saw a ghost. “That was a big shock!”

“That’s what most people say about me. I get out of straitjackets and handcuffs like I was playing with them as a little kid.”

The crowd, including Leila’s friends, was impressed. Just then, the sound of a violin can be heard. Suddenly, Applejack’s hat started to rise from her head.

“Hey!” Applejack yelled as she grabs her hat. “Is this your doin’, Twi?”

“No.” Twilight said nervously. “I wouldn’t do that to someone like you.”

“That would be my doing.” Said the voice of an elegant young man.

Out steps a young man with black hair and wearing a tuxedo. He holds a violin and a bow. The Rainbooms look at this young fellow.

“Well, Applejack.” Rarity said to her farmer friend. “This is the young man who played games with your hat.”

“Are you sure, Rares?” Applejack wondered.

“Indeed. His name is Theo Stein-Meyer. The Misfits’ magical maestro.”

“You might call me that, Miss Rarity.” Theo replied.

Everybody is surprised about this.

“This guy lifted Applejack’s hat?” Pinkie asked.

“That’s right.” Carter answered.

Theo steps up to the party girl. “Carter is right, Miss Pinkie Pie. When I play my violin, levitation magic happens. And, I don’t usually perform without wearing one of my elegant tuxedos.”

“Got to keep up your appearance, I guess.” Sunset added.

Just then, two look alike kids, wearing dark green tuxedos and top hats come forth. One of the kids has longer hair.

“Hello, everybody.” The short haired kid announced.

“It’s time for a lot of fun!” The longer haired kid added.

Pinkie looked at the kids. And, smiled huge. “Wow! Twins! A boy and a girl. And, they look like entertainers.”

“They are, Pinkie.” Sunset figured. “Those two are Olly and Izzy Golden. The jokesters of the troupe.”

“You guess correctly, Sunset Shimmer.” The girl, Izzy, said happily.

“We may not be real magicians,” The boy, Olly, explained, “but we can be very amazing in our own way.”

“They’re right.” Lelia said. “They can sing, dance, tell jokes, and keep the audience entertained.”

Ridley then made a suggestion. “We heard that the seven of you have a bit of magic too.”

“How do you know?” Fluttershy asked nervously.

“We’ve been asking around the town. Especially at your school, Canterlot High.”

Carter walked up to Twilight. “Let’s see what you can do, Twilight Sparkle. Besides using that amazing brain of yours.”

Obliging the street magician, Twilight saw a fallen branch, and levitated it with her magic.

“That is true magic.” Theo praised. “Bravo, Miss Sparkle.”

Twilight lowered the branch and responded to the musician. “Thank you.”

Ridley suddenly felt her wheelchair being lifted. She noticed that Applejack is lifting her.

“I see your special power.” Ridley realized. “Super strength.”

“Ya got that right, Ridley.” Applejack replied as she lowered the code breaker back down.

“If you think that’s awesome,” Dash interjected, “Check this out!”

Rainbow Dash zipped off and ran in all directions, leaving a rainbow trail behind her. Everybody applauded.

“Super speed!” Leila cheered. “No wonder she’s known as Rainbow DASH.”

Suddenly, a hand touches Leila’s shoulder. It was Sunset Shimmer, whose eyes glowed. He lifts her hand up and her eyes returned to normal.

“So, that’s how you developed your knack of escape while in that orphanage.” Sunset said.

“Wow!” Leila gasped. “You can read minds of others.”

“Yeah. But, I don’t do it that often.”

Leila smiled, knowing that Sunset has a hold of her magic. Meanwhile, Rarity shows off her mystic diamonds.

“They are astounding.” Theo praised. “These diamonds sparkle like your personality, Miss Rarity.”

“Thank you, darling.” Rarity said as her diamonds vanished.

Pinkie took some of her sprinkles from her can. “Watch this, Misfits!”

The party girl energized the sprinkles, threw them in the air, and the exploded like fireworks.

“That was fantastic.” Izzy cheered.

“A true showstopper!” Olly added.

The twins clapped as Pinkie took a bow. Soon, a bald eagle flew in the sky. It then descended, and landed on Fluttershy’s shoulder. Everybody was amazed.

“I get it.” Ridley said. “You can talk to animals. Right, Fluttershy?”

“I love nature.” Fluttershy explained. “And, with my own magic, animals and I understand each other.”

The eagle flies back to the sky. Twilight makes an announcement. “Let’s celebrate this gathering with a pizza lunch.”

“Good thinking, Twilight.” Leila replied. “In fact, we know a good place that serves great single serve pizzas that use any kind of topping you can think of.” Leila then whispered something to Pinkie. “They even have single serve dessert pizzas.”

Pinkie’s eyes lit up. The Golden twins saw this, and knew what Leila whispered to her.

“It figures that Pinkie would react like that.” Olly said.

“We heard that this party girl has a big sweet tooth.” Izzy added.

Later, the thirteen friends gathered at Sweet Apple Acres, enjoying the single serve pizzas Leila spoke of. Some have toppings, some don’t.

“These sliced red and yellow bell peppers is a good suggestion, Carter.” Sunset happily said.

“I suggested this for two reasons.” Carter replied. “One, those peppers have a sweet taste, sweeter than green bell peppers. Two, they match your red and yellow hair streaks.”

Sunset blushed. Pinkie is enjoying her dessert pizza. It was a graham cracker crust, smothered in chocolate, and drizzled with marshmallow sauce.

“A s’mores type pizza.” Rainbow Dash said with interest. “Pretty cute idea, Pinks.”

“I know.” Pinkie cheered as she enjoys her lunch. “Yours is pretty unique too.”

“You got that right. Pulled pork with a drizzle of barbecue sauce tastes awesome!”

Fluttershy enjoys her pizza. It’s topped with carrot and celery sticks, lettuce leaves, and topped with salad dressing.

“This salad pizza is great.” Fluttershy praised. “Thanks for the suggestion, Theo.”

“You’re welcome, Miss Fluttershy.” Theo replied as he enjoys his lunch. “I figured that this is to your liking.”

Meanwhile, Applejack looks at Twilight’s own dessert pizza. “Pretty cute combo, Twi. A pie crust shaped like a pizza crust, smeared with vanilla pudding, topped with sliced apples, and sprinkled with cinnamon.”

“Thanks, Applejack.” Twilight said. “Kind of like an Apple pizza pie a la mode.”

Suddenly, Trixie showed up unannounced.

“Greetings all.” Trixie called out. “I hope you don’t mind me joining you.”

Leila looked at the unexpected guest. “Came to show off again. Huh, Trixie?”

“Trixie?” Ridley gasped.

“That’s right, Ridley.” Theo answered. “Trixie Lulamoon. Also known as The Great and Powerful Trixie.”

“I see that even the well renowned Magic Misfits know of my reputation.” Trixie said. “I’ve seen one of your shows.”

“And, we saw one of yours.” Izzy said. “Maybe you can perform with us.”

“Me? Perform with you six mystical kids?”

“Why not?” Olly replied. “This could improve your reputation as a magician.”

Trixie thinks it’s a good idea as Olly gave Trixie some of his pizza, which is topped with black olives.

“Mmm.” Trixie hummed as she enjoys the pizza. “Very good.”

Everybody continued to enjoy each other’s company. Granny Smith watched with delight.

The Rainbooms, Trixie, and the Magic Misfits. Granny thought. Now, there’s a unique combination for ya.
