> A Life Desired > by Seeking-Sparks > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Beginnings > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Seeking Sparks stood quietly in front of the mirror, studying her body. Her wings were tucked close against her sides, deep brown feathers giving way to a deep brown coat. The flash of her bright campfire cutie mark stood out against the darkness of her fur. A forest and light green braid fell over her shoulder and her matching tail flicked behind her.  But at the moment, it was her sleek belly that intrigued Sparks. She smoothed a hoof over the curves of her chest, down to her stomach, and over her flanks. Sighing, she turned away from the mirror and stopped dead when she saw her girlfriend leaning against the door frame, smirking.  Running River, a bright blue earth pony with darker blue flowing hair, walked over and slipped her forelegs around her girlfriend.  “Whatcha thinking about?” Sparks inhaled sharply and shook her head. “Nothing important.” “Thinkin about the baby?” Sparks whipped her head around and gaped at her girlfriend. River rolled her eyes. “Come on babe. I know you better than that. Why you even still try to keep secrets from me, I don’t know.” Sparks huffed out a deep breath and leaned her head against River’s. “I know we’re both mares, but I’ve just always wanted foals so badly.” “I know baby. We’ll find a way to do it someday, I promise.” A moment of silence passed before River spoke up hesitantly. “We could...find a stallion who will-” “No!” Sparks jerked away and cut her off. River lowered her eyes and set her hooves back on the floor. The pegasus sighed and ruffled her feathers.  “I just….no. I’m sorry. But I’m just not comfortable with it. I want the baby to be ours. And I definitely don’t want some random stallion inside me...gross.” Sparks slumped against the wall, her head falling against the hard surface beside her. “And I know that you offered, but you don’t want to be pregnant. And…..I do. I so desperately do.” River reached out a hoof and tucked a curl of mane behind Sparks’ ear. “I know my love. Twilight said she would do some research for us, remember? We will have our foal some day. I promise.” oOo Sparks was standing in the kitchen, an apron around her waist, and a whisk in her hoof when there was a sudden smell of smoke and a tingling in the air. A loud POP and the whisk clattered to the counter as Sparks spun around, hooves up and ready to fight.  Twilight was mere inches from her muzzle, a huge grin on her face and her eyes wide and excited. Sparks held her breath and counted to five, trying desperately to quell the martial arts instincts that made her hooves twitch.  “Twilight. What….what can I help you with?” “I found it! I found a spell that can get you pregnant!!” oOo Sparks and River stood in the middle of the castle library, eyes flicking back and forth as they watched Twilight run around the room.  “Do you...do you think this is normal?” River whispered out of the corner of her mouth.  “I have no idea.” Sparks whispered back.  CRASH! Sparks’ wings flared out as dozens of books fell to the floor and Twilight’s horn sparked to life with a loud ZAP. River stifled her giggles with a hoof as Sparks flushed and tucked her wings away.  “Oh hush.” “Big bad martial artist is afraid of loud noises huh?” “Ah bite me. You know it’s training instincts.” “Sure it is babe. Sure it is.” River’s snickering was cut short as Twilight popped out from a pile of fallen books, a scroll held triumphantly in her magic.  “I GOT IT!!!” She laid the scroll down with a pile of parchment and books on the library table.  “Spike! Can you put all these books away please? I have SCIENCE to do!!!” Sparks leaned over to her girlfriend. “Should we be concerned about the crazy look in her eyes?” “I think the real question is if we should be more concerned about the look in her eyes or the tone of her voice” River whispered back.  Twilight rushed over between them and suddenly Sparks found herself standing in the throne room, blinking pink flashes out of her eyes.  “Oh Celestia! Twilight, warn us before you teleport!” River rubbed her hooves over her eyes and blinked up at the jewels hanging from the tree roots in the ceiling.  Twilight dropped a pile of books and parchment on the map table and grinned at them. “Sorry! There’s just so much to do! So much to STUDY!!” Sparks furrowed her brow. “Am I gonna be a lab rat?” Twilight’s eyes went misty and unfocused. “You are going to be the first lesbian couple to have a biological child in the history of Equestria! There are spells for helping heterosexual couples that struggle with fertility, but it really took a lot of research to adapt those for a same sex couple! I could write a whole book on just how I combined all these spells!” Starlight Glimmer walked into the throne room and surveyed the scrolls and books on the table. “Excuse you Twilight. How WE combined these spells.” Twilight just smiled wider. “Yes! How we combined these spells! And now that you’re back, we can get started!” “Started?” Sparks asked. “Don’t you just have to cast the spell and it's done?” “Well…” Starlight drawled. “That’s how I would do it but….” Twilight suddenly laughed and dozens of machines started popping into the room in flashes of purple light.  “This is the first time that this spell combination has been used! And it’s being used to create LIFE!!! We must monitor everything!!” “Twilight. Chill. Deep breath. I think you’re scaring them.” Starlight cocked her head in the direction of the other two mares.  Sparks had an eyebrow raised as she gazed at the various machines with clear trepidation. River was staring wide eyed at a long silver instrument that was sitting on the table.  Twilight took a long, slow breath. “Right. Sorry. I’m just excited! I-” Starlight coughed and Twilight gulped, swallowing back whatever lecture she had been about to begin.  Starlight stepped up to Seeking Sparks and levitated a tape measure over. “Let’s just start with some basic measurements okay? It’s important to get a baseline on your build and health so we can see how the spell affects you and if the pregnancy progresses as expected.” Sparks tossed her braid over her shoulder. “Sure.” Starlight took measurements of more than Sparks ever thought one could measure. She began with lengths of each leg, then circumferences of her hooves, then moved up to getting waist, flank, and chest measurements. Twilight stood with a quill and parchment, furiously writing down numbers as Starlight called them out.  Finally, Starlight stepped back and asked Sparks to open her wings. As she did, the broken feathers on her left wing became painfully obvious.  Starlight blinked and cocked her head. “How did that happen? Were you born with it?” “Nah. I injured my wing pretty badly as a filly. Haven’t been able to fly since.” Starlight nodded and took her wing measurements. “That’s good. Nothing genetic then.” Twilight passed the parchment and quill over to Starlight, who took them into her own magic.  “Okay Starlight you keep getting info and measurements on Sparks and I’ll get a medical history for River.” Starlight nodded mutely and led Sparks over to a series of scales and work out equipment.  “Okay I’m just gonna ask you about your medical history while we check your weight and physical fitness okay?” Sparks nodded and smirked, excited to finally show off her martial arts training.  oOo Running River sat at the table with Twilight as she prepared a new scroll and quill.  “Why does my medical history matter? Sparks is the one carrying the foal.” “Because the foal will be yours too. You are going to be its other biological parent. So getting an idea of your health and genetics gives us a better idea of what to expect in the foal.” “Really? That’s….” River smiled and felt a weight lift off her shoulders that she hadn’t known she’d been carrying. “That’s amazing.” Twilight nodded and started in on her questions. “Alright, genetic history. Any unicorns or pegasi in your family?” “Nope. All earth ponies. As far back as the banishment of Nightmare Moon.” “Interesting. What about Seeking Sparks?” “Nope. Her family has lived in Cloudsdale for generations. All pegasi.” Twilight noted something with her quill. “How did the two of you end up here?” “I’ve lived in Ponyville my whole life. Sparks moved here with her family after her accident. She couldn't fly anymore, so it wasn’t really safe for her to live in Cloudsdale. We met at Camp Friendship. Now we own and operate it. In the summer months we are the primary counselors and we live out on the property, but throughout the year we live in Ponyville. I work at Fluttershy’s animal sanctuary and Sparks is a martial arts instructor.” Twilight nodded again. “Any history of family illness or injury?” “Nope.” “How about a family history of cutie marks? Common themes in your family or Sparks’?” Running river shifted in the throne seat to show Twilight her willow tree cutie mark. “My family has a long history of nature related cutie marks. My parents own a Christmas tree farm on the outskirts of Ponyville. The rest of my family is spread all around, but they all have plant or animal related cutie marks in some way. Seeking Sparks breaks the mold though. Her parents and family have mostly weather related talents. They both work in the Cloudsdale weather factory. But Sparks’ is a campfire.” Twilight nodded as the quill scribbled furiously against the parchment. “And you have a light blue coat with a mane and tail in other blue shades. Sparks has a deep brown coat with a mane and tail in light and dark green. Alright. Great!” The parchment and quill disappeared in a little poof of pink sparkles. “I think that’s all I need!” Twilight trotted over to Sparks and Starlight, River trailing behind. “Okay Starlight are you done with Sparks?” They both nodded then Sparks yelped as Starlight plucked a hair from her mane.  “What was that for?” Sparks scowled.  Starlight walked over to River and did the same, causing another startled yelp to echo around the throne room.  “This spell has been crafted to operate without any of the normal biological rules of fertility. The normal infertility spells all still use the mare’s egg and the stallion’s sperm, and simply help them to get together and create a viable pregnancy-” Twilight cut in. “This spell though, is made to work with your genetics but not with your reproductive cells. That way we could use it if two stallions wanted a biological foal too! They would need a surrogate mare of course, but we wanted to make a spell that could be used for any two ponies no matter what fertility issues they were having.” River raised an eyebrow. “So our foal will be made from...our hair?” Twilight took a deep breath, a glint in her eyes, but Starlight cut her off before she could launch into a complicated scientific or magical lecture. “Essentially, yes. Magic can’t create life, so we need to start somewhere. The spell will basically use the genetic information in your hair to create two compatible reproductive cells, which we can then put in Sparks as an embryo.” Sparks swallowed hard, her heart racing. “Will….will the foal be different?” At this, Twilight jumped in. “We don’t know for sure. Theoretically the pregnancy should progress as normal, and the foal should be healthy like any other conception. But that’s why we got your medical histories and physical measurements. You’ll have weekly check ups with us so we can track the pregnancy, the foal, and your health.” Running River wrapped a foreleg around her girlfriend and nuzzled her ear. “I love you so much Sparks. Are you sure you’re ready to do this?” Sparks closed her eyes and smiled, feeling her heart rate slow. No matter what happened, she knew she was safe and loved with River. “I love you too sweetheart. And yes, I’m ready.” Sparks took a deep breath and stepped forward, making eye contact first with Starlight and then with Twilight.  “I’m ready.” Twilight and Starlight nodded, then put their horns together. The two mane hairs floated in the air in front of them. River rested a hoof comfortingly on Sparks’ back as a bright swirls of magenta and teal magic began to swirl around them.  Sparks saw a brilliant flash of light, felt a burning pain in her stomach, then...nothing. > Pregnant > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Seeking Sparks rested her head on the edge of the toilet, sweat caked in her fur and her mane plastered to her back. Her girlfriend, Running River, wiped a damp washcloth over her forehead and ran a hoof comfortingly through her mane.  “Got it all out?” Sparks barely managed to croak out a weak “No” before turning her muzzle back into the toilet and retching violently. River winced and grabbed the long green braid that threatened to topple off Sparks’ shoulder and into the bowl. Sparks felt her stomach heave again, and she whimpered before throwing up one more time.  She dry heaved a few times, feeling her throat constrict and her stomach clench. Finally, the nausea lessened slightly and Sparks collapsed against the wall.  “Fuck babe. This is awful.” River flushed the toilet and returned to wiping the washcloth over her girlfriend’s forehead. Sparks swallowed back some bile and got shakily to her hooves. Walking back to the bedroom, she laid gingerly on the bed and curled up on her side. River slipped behind her and wrapped a foreleg over her belly, gently pulling her close. She rubbed her hoof in soft circles over Sparks’ belly and nuzzled her ear.  “You’re doing amazing my love.” Sparks’ eyes filled with tears and she turned to face River. “It’s only been two months and I’m barely holding it together! I can’t eat, I can’t sleep, my body aches, and my throat burns from all the vomiting!” River pulled her close and Sparks buried her muzzle in the soft fur of her girlfriend’s chest. They stayed like that for several minutes, Sparks shaking and crying silently while River held her close and rubbed soothing circles on her back.  “I’m so sorry.” Sparks sniffed and looked up at River, who refused to meet her gaze. “What for?” “Babe look at you! You’re miserable. I hate seeing you in so much pain and discomfort. I should have had Twilight do the spell on me.” River stared at the ceiling, feeling her chest burn with guilt and shame for how normal she felt while Sparks suffered.  “Running River, now you listen to me.” Sparks tilted her chin up and pressed a soft kiss to her girlfriend’s blue muzzle. “I wanted this. We both wanted a foal, and I wanted to be the one to carry. This isn’t your fault.” River smiled slightly and returned the kiss, bringing a hoof up to smooth the hair from Sparks’ face. “I love you.” The pegasus smiled and unfurled her wings, embracing her girlfriend in a warm embrace. “I love you more. And Twilight said the nausea should ease soon.” River shot up in bed. “SHIT!! Twilight!! We’re late!!” Sparks, startled by her girlfriend’s sudden movement, flailed and toppled out of the bed. Landing in a heap on the floor, she looked up at River as a grin spread across her face. It started with a chuckle, but soon they were both bent over with laughter, tears pricking at their eyes. Sparks took deep calming breaths when she felt her stomach start to roll again. The respite had been brief, but welcome. Standing up, she sighed and closed her eyes, willing her stomach to settle.  River kissed her forehead and got off the bed. “Let’s get ready to go.” Sparks nodded and bit back a gag as her stomach rolled again. It was going to be an interesting day.  oOo Twilight had Sparks step up onto the scale as she used her tape measure to take her measurements again.  “Well you have gained a bit of weight, but no obvious change in your waist or stomach measurements yet. Looks like you’re right on track!” Sparks barely heard her. Her hooves were planted squarely on the scale as she fought the swirling in her stomach. She swayed slightly, unable to concentrate on her own balance. Her eyes were scrunched tightly closed and she vaguely heard River talking to Twilight.  “-vomiting?” At this word, her eyes flew open and Sparks darted out of the library, dashing down the hall to the bathroom. She didn’t even manage to shut the door before she collapsed in front of the toilet and retched violently. Her stomach heaved and she grabbed the sides of the toilet with her hooves to keep from falling over. She whimpered weakly as she felt a hoof slide over her back.  “It’s okay baby. I’ve got you.” Sparks felt her stomach roll one more time and she vomited once more into the toilet. Her belly clenched a few times, but Sparks only gagged and coughed. River helped her stand up and wash her mouth out at the sink. Twilight stood just outside the doorway, concern etched on her features.  “The nausea should subside soon on its own, but I can also cast a spell that should help with the vomiting.” Sparks felt bile rise in the back of her throat and she threw herself over the toilet as she lost her lunch once again. River just nodded at Twilight. With Sparks still desperately hung over the toilet, Twilight ignited her horn and a soft pink glow surrounded the pegasus’s belly. As the light faded and Twilight extinguished her horn, Sparks felt a huge release as the turmoil in her stomach disappeared.  “Oh my Celestia…” Sparks sighed deeply and sat on the floor by the sink. “Thank you Twilight.” The alicorn smiled. “You’re entering your third month so the morning sickness should ease soon.” River helped Sparks to her feet and turned to Twilight as the pregnant mare washed out her mouth.  “What symptoms can we expect from here on out?” Twilight considered the question for a moment. “Well with a normal pregnancy you would see an increase in hormones which would translate to mood swings, cravings, and a higher libido. You should begin to feel the foal moving by about month 5.” Sparks lifted her head from the sink and smoothed out her mane. “I can’t wait until this morning sickness bullshit is over.” Twilight laughed. “The spell should lessen your nausea considerably, but it might not be relieved completely.” The three mares walked back to the library so Twilight could continue her measurements. After a few minutes of tape measures, scribbling quills, and standard medical questions, Sparks and River were walking out of the castle. Sparks took a deep breath, inhaling the cool air and taking in the subtle scents of fall.  “Gosh it feels so good to breathe again without feeling nauseous at every little scent.” River smiled and angled her head into town. “Wanna grab some lunch then?” Licking her lips, Sparks set her eyes on Sugarcube Corner. “I think dessert is more in order.” Trotting down the lane, she called over her shoulder, “Come on slowpoke! You’d think you were the pregnant one!” River rolled her eyes and jogged to catch up with her girlfriend. Taking a running start, she leapt onto Sparks’ back and rolled her into the soft grass beside the path.  “Ha! You only wish you could beat me.” River smirked down at the stunned look on Sparks’ face as she rolled over and stood up.  Giggling, River flipped her mane over her shoulder and took off running down the path. “Catch me if you can!” Sparks only grinned and watched her blue colors streak towards town. Closing her eyes, she touched a hoof gently to her belly.  “Baby, you are going to have the most amazing mother in the world.” oOo When Sparks finally caught up to River, she was in Sugarcube Corner talking to Pinkie Pie. The baker was boxing up a dozen cupcakes and Sparks felt her stomach grumble at the mere sight of them.  “Hey baby! I was wondering when you would get your slow butt here.” Sparks just flicked her braid with an exaggerated haughty look. “You only wish you could beat me.” River stifled a chuckle and waved her over to the counter. “So how have you been Pinkie?” There were sprinkles and traces of flour in her mane as she bounced around the counter. “The cake twins have been keeping me pretty busy. Pumpkin’s magic is really taking off and Pound Cake is practically levitating around the house!” Pinky bit back a grin. “Pfftt….taking off hahaha!” She collapsed back on the floor in a fit of laughter as Sparks and River just looked at each other and shrugged.  River glanced over the counter. “Are the twins much trouble?” Still on the floor, Pinky shrugged her forelegs. “Not as much now that they’re older. But when I babysat them for the first time, by Celestia they were a hoof-ful!” Sparks felt something in her twist. “Oh? Um, how so?” Pinky grinned. “They were such little trouble makers! I had to keep dumping flour on myself just to get them to stop crying! The whole bakery was destroyed! Toys and baby food was everywhere!” “He he he….” Sparks chuckled nervously, feeling a familiar rolling in the pit of her stomach. But this time, the nausea had nothing to do with her morning sickness.  “Yeah they were something, but damn I wouldn’t trade those two foals for anything in the world.” River smiled and thanked Pinky, tossing the cupcake box onto her back and guiding Sparks out of Sugarcube Corner. They walked in silence for a while, heading to their favorite place at the edge of town. Some of the tension in Sparks’ shoulders seemed to dissipate as they walked onto the grounds of Camp Friendship.  Their hoofbeats echoed dully on the old wood of the dock as they walked out to the edge of the water. They didn’t have to speak; they both knew where they were going. Settling themselves on the edge of the dock, they let their hooves dip into the water that still held the traces of summer warmth.  “I always miss this place at the end of the summer season.” River said quietly. “It’s too silent without the foals running around and laughing.” Sparks smiled. “Remember when Flaring Heights fell out of the boat this summer? I’ve never seen a colt look so startled.” River chuckled too. “What about when Pipsqueak thought he had gotten new spots, but it was only mud on his white coat?” Sparks laughed weakly, her mirth fading away as she looked out over the calm lake. “River. What if we’ve bitten off more than we can chew?” Her girlfriend looked at her, shocked. “Baby, what in Equestria makes you say that?!” “I just...you heard Pinky! What if we aren’t ready?” Running River held her hoof and gestured to the camp. “Honey you and I have been working here for years! There isn’t a foal issue that we haven’t handled. And yeah, we haven’t worked with babies much, but we are a team. And we are the best damn counselors this camp has ever seen!” “You know that raising a kid won’t be like taking care of campers right?” Sparks swirled her hooves in the water, looking pointedly at River.  The earth pony merely smiled. “It’s not the same thing, no. But Sparks, my love, when is the last time that you felt uncomfortable or scared around our campers?” “Never.” “When’s the last time you felt out of your depth? Like you weren’t ready?” “Our first summer working.” “Which was how many years ago?” Sparks smiled. “Several. Alright, I get your point.” River pulled her girlfriend into a searing kiss, caressing her hoof over the pegasus’s jawline. Sparks melted into the kiss, feeling her heart race even at the slightest touch. When River pulled back, she rested their foreheads together.  “We are in this together. It’s scary, I know. I’m scared too. But we’re gonna be okay. Because we always have each other.” The two mares sat at the edge of the dock, holding on to one another for hours. They let the wind blow through their manes, the birds fly overhead, and the lake lap at their hooves. As the sun started to set, they gathered up the cupcakes remains and made their way back into town. Whatever happened, they would face it together.  > Announcements > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Once again, Seeking Sparks found herself standing in front of the mirror. She was four months pregnant now, but there were no obvious changes to her body yet. Sparks traced the curve of her belly with her eyes, looking for any signs of a bulge. Sighing when she saw only her normal lean frame, she pressed a hoof over her womb. The only sign so far that she really was pregnant was the slight rigidness of her abdomen. Her belly had lost some of the soft squishiness that River had used to use as a pillow, which had led to grumbled complaints from the blue mare as she tried to find a new way to nap against Sparks in the evenings. Sparks didn’t mind though. She knew River was just as excited for the foal as she was and feeling the physical evidence of the pregnancy had them both overjoyed. And now that she had passed the 16-week mark, Twilight had said it was safe to tell others. They had well passed the point at which a miscarriage was likely to occur, but Twilight and Starlight had warned them that a magical pregnancy brought with it uncertainties and risks. So Sparks and River had held off on informing anyone until both unicorns had deemed it safe. Now though, it was time to tell their families and friends. They both had taken off work this weekend to visit and tell their families. And Sparks found herself both excited and worried by the prospect. Since her accident as a filly, her parents had been extremely overprotective of her, and she had no idea how they would react to the pregnancy. She had no siblings and had always been her parents’ sole focus. Running River, on the other hoof, came from a huge family. Sparks was sure they would normally be thrilled by the prospect of their first grandfoal. But they had never been fully supportive of her lifestyle. River had come out as a lesbian after her first summer working at Camp Friendship, and her parents nearly refused to let her return, believing the camp had turned her gay. After weeks of begging, crying, and support from Sparks, River managed to convince her parents to let her go back to camp. Over the years they began to begrudgingly tolerate her sexuality, but they never really accepted. When River introduced Sparks as her girlfriend for the first time, they had balked and sat in stunned silence before retreating to the kitchen and talking in hushed and frantic whispers. Shaking thoughts of River’s homophobic family out of her head, Sparks glanced sideways at her bedside table, thinking about the kitten collar that she had hidden away. She and River had never been ones for jewelry, and River had once joked that if Sparks proposed, she better do it with a cat or there’d be no wedding. She had bought the collar months ago, a beautiful purple leather piece with yellow and pink flowers. Lyra and Bonbon had encouraged her to go for it, no matter what her girlfriend’s family may say. “Love is love.” Lyra had said, adoration shining in her eyes as she looked at her girlfriend. “Who knows, maybe she’s planning to propose to you too.” Bonbon had shot a look at Sparks out of the corner of her eye, and smiled at her ever so slightly. Sparks grinned at the mirror, having finally made a decision. She didn’t care if the foal was born before or after they were married, but she wanted River as her wife more than anything in the world. Her family be damned. Smoothing one last stroke over her stomach, Sparks tossed a light sweatshirt on and trotted out into town. River should be at Fluttershy’s sanctuary for another few hours, and if luck was on her side, Fluttershy herself would be at her cottage. It was just nearing the beginning of winter. Sparks had gotten pregnant at the end of the summer, just after the camp season had ended. They hadn’t really planned it that way, but once Twilight had worked out the spell, they had been too excited to wait any longer. And it worked out for the best. With the foal due the following summer, Sparks would be able to work at camp until the very last day of her pregnancy. As she trotted excitedly over to Fluttershy’s cottage, Sparks looked up at the pegasi above who were preparing for winter. Cloudsdale had returned just like expected. Which meant her parents would be in town for a few days before they moved on with the weather factory to bring winter to all the other towns and cities of Equestria. Since they moved to Ponyville when Sparks was a filly, her parents had kept a house in town, even after they moved back to Cloudsdale to travel with the city and work in the weather factory. That way the flightless Sparks and her earth pony girlfriend would always be able to visit when they were in town. Sparks felt a pit growing in her stomach. She and River had sent a scroll to her parents a week or so prior, asking to visit when Cloudsdale rolled in for winter. They were supposed to go over tomorrow for lunch. Feeling a shiver run through her, Sparks pulled her sweatshirt tighter around her, despite knowing that the chill had nothing to do with the weather. Pushing away her nerves as she walked up the path to Fluttershy’s cottage, she knocked on the door. The yellow Pegasus opened the door and beamed when she saw Sparks standing there. “Seeking Sparks! It’s so good to see you. River isn’t here right now though.” Fluttershy beckoned her in and offered her a cup of warm tea. Sparks took the cup gratefully and sat down on the couch. “I’m here to see you actually.” “Oh? What can I help you with?” Fluttershy offered her a bowl of sugar cubes, which Sparks excitedly dipped into. Dropping two into her tea, she glanced around the cottage. “I was hoping to propose to River sometime soon, and wondered if you could help me out with it.” “Oh that’s wonderful! I’d be happy to help! But what could you possibly need me for?” “River has always wanted a cat, but we just never got around to looking for one. I wanted to propose to her with a kitten.” Fluttershy’s eyes grew wider than Sparks thought was possible, and a huge grin spread across her face. Grabbing the brown mare’s hoof, Fluttershy tried to fly them both out of the door. Sparks yelped. “Fluttershy! I can’t fly, remember!” The yellow mare let go of her friend’s hoof and sheepishly lowered herself to the ground. “I’m so sorry! I just got so excited...I’m so sorry...” She blushed hard and Sparks only chuckled and gestured to the door. “No worries. Where were you taking me?” Fluttershy perked up immediately. “I have a cat you need to meet!” Fluttershy led them out into the garden and beckoned at a smooth black cat. “This is Catherine and she’s pregnant! She should be having her kittens in about two months. Then they would be able to leave her about 2 months after that.” “So I could come pick out a kitten in about four months?” The cat mewled as Fluttershy lifted her into Sparks’ forelegs. “That’s up to Catherine. She says she wants to see where you live first, and who your girlfriend is before she agrees to let one of her kittens live with you.” Sparks considered this for a moment. “I could bring her home for a few days and tell River that we are pet sitting for you? Maybe that Catherine was shy and you wanted her to get to live with some other ponies for a little while?” “I think that sounds like a wonderful idea! What do you think, Catherine?” The cat meowed and purred against Sparks’ forelegs.  “We are going to see my parents and River’s parents this weekend though. Will she be okay at our place alone for a few hours?” The cat meowed again and Fluttershy blinked before turning to Sparks. “She wants to know if you’re telling them about the baby.” “What?! How did you know??” Sparks flushed a deep red.  Fluttershy just smiled. “Catherine knew. Says you look like a new mother. She also says it’s okay if you leave her at your house for the weekend.” Sparks ducked her head and smiled shyly. Fluttershy wrapped a foreleg around her shoulders.  “Congratulations Sparks. You’re going to be an amazing mother.” Sparks smiled and thanked Fluttershy, waving goodbye as she walked back down the path with Catherine. The two of them wandered back to the house and once Sparks let her inside, Catherine ran right over and curled herself between River’s forelegs.  Startled, the blue mare set down the spatula she had been using to make grilled cheese sandwiches and bent down to pet the black cat.  “Who is this cutie?” She cooed as Catherine arched her back and purred.  Sparks smiled. “Her name is Catherine. Fluttershy asked us to watch her for a few days. Apparently she needs to learn to trust other ponies.” River smiled and scratched the cat under her chin. Catherine purred then scampered off to explore the house. Sparks walked over and rested her head on the top of River’s. Giggling, River shoved her off and stood up, turning back to the stove. Sparks saw the shake in her girlfriend’s breath as she took off the sandwiches.  “Are you worried about tomorrow?” “Yeah. Who knows how my parents will react. But I still want to tell them.” Sparks wrapped River into a hug. “It’s gonna be okay. Whatever happens, we’ll face it together right?” River held her tight, feeling her girlfriend’s taught belly press against her. “Yeah baby. Together.” oOo River and Sparks stood outside her parents’ ponyville home, staring silently at the knocker.  “Are you...gonna knock?” River asked out the corner of her mouth.  “Oh hush! I’m just trying to figure out how to tell my parents that the princess of friendship is using us as an experiment to see if she can knock up mares with their hair!” River snickered. “You’re scared.” “Am not!” “Yes you are! And that’s okay! But we’ve been standing here for almost a half hour. You have to knock at some point. We still have to get to my parents’ by this evening.” Sparks groaned and lifted her hoof to the door. The hollow knocking sound echoed through the house and she winced as hoofbeats advanced towards them. Sparks’ father, Darkened Sky, opened the door. He was a tall and stocky stallion with a deep ash gray coat and an electric blue and white mane and tail, like lightning streaking across the sky. He whooped and hauled Sparks into a crushing hug.  “Hahaha. Hi dad.” The stallion merely sniffled and bellowed “FIRETRAIL!!!” into the house. Sparks’ mother, a pale peach mare with a fiery yellow, orange, and red mane and tail, emerged from the hallway and joined her husband in crushing their daughter. “Mom...dad...I...can’t….breathe!” Sparks struggled out of the hug and coughed. Her parents instead turned to River and dragged her into the same crushing hug.  “It’s good to see you again too,” River said, laughing.  Once her parents had decided that they both deserved to breathe, the group walked into the dining room where Darkened Sky had set the table for lunch. Fire and Sky chattered on about the weather factory and the crazy year they had had traveling Equestria with Cloudsdale. While they talked and prepared lunch, Sparks kicked her hooves under the table and tried to think of the best way to phrase the news.  Mom, Dad, Twilight Sparkle got me pregnant. No that wasn’t it.  I’m pregnant with River’s hair. Nope. Not that one either. Sparks felt her anxiety rising and started tapping her hoof on the chair. She felt River reach over and place a comforting hold on her foreleg. Sparks was called back to reality when her mother laid out sandwiches and asked how their year had been. It was now or never.  “Well.” Her voice trembled slightly. She couldn’t tell if it was excitement or nerves. “We’re pregnant.” Both of her parents’ jaws fell open and the stunned silence stretched across the table.  “Twilight Sparkle created a spell for us. So the foal that Sparks is carrying is biologically ours.” River said with a squeeze on Sparks’ hoof.  Firetrail was the first to react, her eyes welling with tears. She launched herself across the table and tackled Sparks into another bone-crushing hug. “OH MY CELESTIA SWEETIE!!!!! I’M GOING TO BE A GRANDMA!!!!!”  Sparks buried her muzzle in her mother’s short mane, feeling a weight lift from her shoulders. Laughing slightly, she returned the hug and turned her eyes to her father. Darkened Sky’s lip was trembling as he walked slowly around the table and pulled River into the hug with Sparks and Fire. The four of them hugged for a beat, just feeling the warmth of each other. When her parents finally pulled away, Sparks saw that they were both crying slightly.  “Oh honey,” Firetrail whispered. “I’m so happy for you two. I know how much you have both always wanted foals.” Darkened Sky wiped away a tear as he kissed the top of his daughter’s head. “You are both going to be such wonderful mothers.” Sparks and River reached out for one another, holding their hooves together. “Thanks dad.” Sparks whispered through tears.  The afternoon flew by as they recounted the story of the spell that Twilight and Starlight had created for them, and about the weekly visits to check on the pregnancy and foal. Firetrail gave Sparks all kinds of advice and Darkened Sky promised to start sewing baby clothes right away. When they finally said goodnight in the early evening, Sky pulled Sparks aside.  “Are you ever gonna propose to that wonderful mare of yours?” A mischievous glint lit up his eyes.  Sparks blushed. “Started planning today in fact. Should be ready in about four months.” Darkened Sky nodded and bumped his shoulder against hers. “That’s my strong girl.” “That’s just how you and mom raised me.” Sparks grinned and hugged her dad one more time. “Now we really have to go. We promised we’d be at River’s parents’ before dinner. Gotta tell them too.” Firetrail and Darkened Sky waved them off as Sparks and River set off for the tree farm at the edge of Ponyville. As they walked in the early evening sunset, Sparks watched as River seemed to shrink smaller and smaller the farther away they got from town.  “It’s gonna be okay. They don’t actively hate me anymore at least.” Sparks said, nudging her girlfriend with her shoulder.  River simply nodded, continuing the walk in silence; they had reached the edge of the farm. The dark green pine trees were laid out in even rows over the rolling hills. A bubbling stream wound its way lazily through the stands, channels and hoses coming off it to water the trees. Something in River seemed to snap. Her step faltered only slightly before she plowed ahead, showing no trace of her earlier anxiety and fear. As she reached the door of the house, she reached out and knocked with no hint of hesitation.  “I won’t let them make me feel small for who I am anymore.” River growled between gritted teeth.  A pale green colt opened the door, staring up at them silently.  “Hi Leaning Oak. Where’s mom and dad?” Before the colt had a chance to respond, River took Sparks’ hoof and plowed into the house. Rounding the corner to the main room, she stopped dead. Her entire family was sitting there on couches around the fireplace. The rest of her younger brothers and sisters and her parents looked back at the two of them, eyes wide with shock.  The green colt trotted into the room. “River is here.” River’s mom, a white mare with a cascading mane of blue and silver, rose from the couch and walked over to them. “Seeking Sparks.” She said with a hint of ice in her voice.  “Whitewater.” Sparks nodded back respectfully.  River stepped forward, shielding her girlfriend from the disapproving stares of her family. “Mom. Dad. Kids.” She paused, making sure everyone’s attention was on her. “Sparks and I are going to be mothers. Twilight Sparkle, the Princess of Friendship, found a spell that could get Spark’s pregnant with our own foal.” River emphasized Twilight's title, as if trying to show her parents that one of the most important ponies in the land had no problem with her sexuality, so why should they. Her father, an average sized stallion with a white coat and wispy green mane and tail, stood and walked up to his daughter. Ignoring River, he turned and addressed Sparks.  “We have allowed you to...court...our daughter. And now you push our generosity with this...unnatural abomination?” Sparks felt her feathers bristle and could feel River raging beside her. Settling a hoof on River’s, she tried to reassure her that she could handle this.  “Silver Birch, sir,” Sparks emphasized the title, her tone dripping with sweetness. “With respect, you do not have any control over River’s life. She is allowed to love whomever she likes and live her life however she wants. If you do not want to be a part of your grandfoal’s life, then that is your loss.” Whitewater looked around her husband, her gaze falling on Sparks’ belly. “Silver...maybe we should…” The stallion cut her off with a sharp glance in her direction, then turned back to the young mares.. “You are not welcome in my home. Get out.” River stepped forward, her eyes burning. “If you kick us out now, you will not get another chance. If you want any part in my life or your first grandfoal’s life, then you will sit the FUCK down and listen to me!” Silver Birch turned his back to them. “Get out of my house.” His voice was calm and even. Sparks could see Whitewater still glancing around him, trying to get a glimpse of the supposed foal. All the fillies and colts stared at the ground, silent.  River screamed in frustration and stormed out of the house, her hoof steps echoing down the hallway. Sparks watched her go then turned back to the family.  “I love your sister,” she addressed her words to the foals. “I love her with everything I am. We are going to have a foal together, and I am going to ask her to marry me. She doesn’t want to lose you. She loves you all so much. Why can’t you love her for who she is?” A few of the kids looked up at her as Sparks turned and addressed Whitewater. “Your daughter is an amazing, incredible pony and all she wants is for you to accept her. To have a role in her life.” Sparks touched her belly. “To be our foal’s grandparents.” Finally, Sparks addressed River’s father, who still stood with his back to her. “Silver Birch, I hope that one day you can come around. Because your daughter loves you so much. She just wants to make you proud.” Without saying another word, Sparks turned on her heel and walked out the door. She found River sitting underneath a willow tree at the top of a hill. She was watching the night breeze rustle the long hanging branches.  “This is where I got my cutie mark you know. The day I realized that all things in nature are connected. From the smallest crawling ant to the rushing waterfall to the tallest reaching tree. And when I decided that I wanted to spend my life helping to keep that balance and protect the natural world, this little mark appeared.” She gestured to the willow tree on her flank.  “Dad was so proud of me that day. He looked at me with so much love and pride in his eyes. I haven’t seen that look in a long, long time.” Sparks reached out a hoof and helped her girlfriend to her hooves. “Come on my love. Let’s go home.” River sighed and closed her eyes as she walked under the branches of the willow. “Yes. Home.” They walked quietly together into the night, towards a home and a life where they were both loved for exactly who they were.  > Magic > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Feeling the warm glow of dawn on her fur, Seeking Sparks yawned and slowly opened her tired eyes. There was a soft orange light filling her bedroom. She blinked, yawned again, and rolled over to see her girlfriend. River was...several feet below her. Sparks’ eyes flew wide open as she failed her legs, finding herself suspended in mid air in an aura of golden magic.  “What the FUCK?!?!?!” The earth pony below her jolted awake with a start and toppled out of the bed. Groaning and rubbing her head, she blinked and blearily looked around for the source of the sound.  “Sparks what’s going…..” River’s voice trailed off as she caught sight of Sparks in the air above her. “WHAT THE FUCK????” “I DON’T KNOW!!!! BUT GET ME DOWN!!!!!” River stood on the bed and grabbed her girlfriend’s hoof, trying to pull her down towards the bed. The magic didn’t budge and Spark’s stayed stubbornly suspended. River doubled down, throwing all of her earth pony and farmer strength against Sparks’ forelegs.  “OW OW OW!!! BABE!!!” Sparks howled as tears sprung to her eyes.  River let go and ran a hoof through her hair. “I…”  Her eyes darted to the side and she rushed to the window, flinging it open. She stuck her head out, looking desperately for the unicorn performing the spell. It was still the middle of the night, and there was no one around. Feeling her heart rate spike, she ducked back into the room, which was fully illuminated by the dawn-colored magic surrounding Sparks.  “I...I don’t know who’s doing it….” Her voice was quiet and trembling as she stared helplessly up at Sparks.  The pegasus took a breath and counted to ten. River had never been good under pressure. Taking charge and handling a crisis was always Sparks’ role. River took care of all the foal problems that required patience. River nervously ran her hooves through her mane as Sparks took deep breaths and centered herself.  “Okay babe. Take a breath okay? I’m perfectly fine. Just a little stuck. We just have to figure out where it’s coming from okay?” Sparks felt the shake in her voice too. No matter how confident you are, getting stuck in a mysterious magic spell will put you on edge, she mused to herself.  River nodded and trotted off to do a sweep of the house and make sure no one had broken in. Sparks closed her eyes and ran a worried hoof over her baby bump. With a start, she realized it felt...tingly. Sparks opened her eyes and stared at the ceiling, her heart racing once again. Holding her breath, she forced her eyes to slowly scan down her body to her belly.  Sure enough, a warm magic glow surrounded the baby bump, the same color as the magic currently holding her suspended in mid air. Sparks blinked, completely dumbfounded by the sight.  “RIVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!” She heard her own voice cry out, but had no recollection of actually choosing to speak.  There was a resounding crash from below, then thundering hoof beats as the blue mare rushed up the stairs. She flung open the door, a wild and crazed look in her eyes.  “Are you okay?!?!?! What’s going on?!” Sparks pointed shakily at her belly. “It’s the foal.” There was a beat, then a thump as River collapsed to the floor.  Sparks slapped a hoof to her face and groaned. This was so not the time for River to be fainting. The pegasus stretched out her wings and watched as the magic expanded around her. Twilight hadn’t said anything about the baby expressing magical ability at 6 months. A decrease in morning sickness? That was mentioned. New cravings? Yep she had said that too. Higher sex drive? Oh yeah that was already true. But magic??? That had definitely not been on the list.  Sparks looked over at the blue mare who was still on the floor. She gritted her teeth, feeling her frustration growing. It was the middle of the night and she was stuck in her baby’s magic prison. She didn’t have much sympathy for River’s overreactions right now.  “Ow. ”River moaned from the floor as she raised her head and rubbed a bump under her mane.  “Bout fucking time.” Sparks grumbled.  River hung her head. “I’m sorry.” “Just get me down.” There was more ice in her voice that she intended, and she immediately wished she could take it back.  River looked away and Sparks sighed. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to be rude. I’m just...frustrated.” The earth pony nodded but still refused to make eye contact. Grabbing some rope from under the bed, she climbed up and started tying a knot around Sparks’ foreleg.  “River...I’m so sorry. I shouldn't have snapped.” Sparks felt her eyes fill with tears, then felt River’s lips on her own.  Both mares melted into the soft kiss. When River pulled away, she was smiling. “It’s okay. I know you’re hot headed. I love you anyway.” Sparks smiled and nuzzled her. “I love you too. Now what are you doing?” River held up the free end of the rope. “Well if I can’t get you out of the magic, I’ll just have to take you AND the magic to Twilight.” Sparks choked as her eyes bugged out of her head. “You’re going to pull me through town...to Twilight...like a weird parade balloon...with our SEX ROPE?????” River glanced at the rope, then at the box from under the bed that she had taken it from. “Well it’s the only rope in the house. What else do you suggest? Sparks flushed a deep crimson. “Oh sweet Celestia…” she murmured under breath. “At least you’re getting better in stressful situations.” She winked at River as the blue mare rolled her eyes and climbed down off the bed.  “I’m learning from the best.” “You did still faint though.” River scowled and picked up the rope in her teeth, pulling Sparks towards the door.  “Huh. It works.” Sparks’ impressed amusement didn’t last long though as she promptly ran head first into the door frame.  “Ow.” River grimaced as Sparks reached up the door and tried to maneuver herself from inside the magic. After a bit of struggling, she managed to curl her body under the frame and pull herself through. They made it down the stairs just fine before Sparks had to once again het herself through the door frame. Once outside though, the journey was much easier.  Sparks floated on her back, looking up at the stars through the orangy magic haze. River walked below her quietly. The night was pitch black, the whole sky sparkling with stars and a thin crescent moon. Sparks ran an absentminded hoof over her slightly distended belly as she traced the constellations with her eyes.  “Do you remember our first date?” River chuckled and paused on the road, sitting herself down and looking up at the sky. She spoke as she tied the rope around her own foreleg.  “Yeah. We went stargazing on the dock. I was so nervous that I fell in the lake.” “Only after I kissed you.”Sparks grinned. “I still can’t believe you had no idea I was flirting.” River groaned and rolled her eyes. “Are you ever going to let that go? I told you, we had always been like that! Flirty and super close! I didn’t want to get my hopes up.” “I told you you were the prettiest mare I had ever seen.” Sparks felt herself get tugged along, rougher than before. She grinned. “I told you that I was attracted to you.” The mischievous glint in her eyes sparked brighter. “I whispered in your ear because I knew it turned you on.” Suddenly, Sparks felt a sharp pain in her head as she ran into something solid. She tilted her head back and saw the crystal castle looming above her.  “Ow.” Whoops.” River smiled at her sweetly.  “Whoops my ass.” Sparks muttered, but she smiled nonetheless as River pounded on the door.  As expected, there was no response. River shrugged and continued to knock rhythmically on the door. Sparks drew a huge breath into her lungs and turned her muzzle towards the upper balcony.  “HEY SPIKE!!!!!”  Her voice echoed around the town as River winced and rubbed her ears. “Remind me why I love you?” Sparks smirked. “Cause my tongue can make you scream just as loud.” The blue mare flushed so red that her whole face looked purple. She was just about to retort back when Spike flung open the door. His eyes were bloodshot and he scowled at River.  “Do you know what time it is?!?! A baby dragon needs his rest!!”  River simply pointed silently up to Sparks, still floating in the air. Sparks tilted her head back and waved at the dragon. Spike’s jaw fell open.  “Oh sweet Celestia!!! What happened??” “We don’t know. Can you wake up Twilight?” River walked through the door, pulling Sparks in behind her.  Spike stared for another moment until River waved her hoof in front of his face and he snapped to attention.  “Yes! Twilight. I’ll...I’ll go get her.” He scampered off and returned moments later with two disgruntled and sleepy looking purple ponies.  “See? She’s floating.” Twilight and Starlight both blinked in astonishment at the sight before them.  “Um. Hi. It’s the baby.” Sparks gestured to the smaller circle of magic around her belly.  “This is fascinating.” Twilight popped into the air next to her, flying around and studying her from every angle. “I mean I have read a lot about foal’s magic use as babies, but never anything about magic use while still in the womb! This is unprecedented!!” She teleported herself back to the ground and galloped towards the library. “SPIKE!!!! FETCH MY QUILL AND INK!!!”  Starlight stepped forward and ignited her horn. “Let’s get you into the study Sparks and see if we can get you down.” She levitated the rope and pulled the floating pegasus down the hallway.  Twilight was already running around, pulling books off of shelves and setting out parchments on the tables. Starlight pulled Sparks over to one of the couches and tried to lower her onto it, but like before, the magic refused to lower her. Twilight immediately flew over and touched her horn to the magic aura.  "Fascinating…” She made a couple notes with her quill then rushed to a shelf and pulled out a torrent of books. She flew them by so quickly that Sparks couldn’t read the covers.  “None of my pregnancy or foaling or magic books has anything on fetal magic...This is an Equestrian first!” “It’s also weird that the foal is a unicorn. Neither of us have unicorns anywhere in our families.” River piped up.  Starlight and Twilight looked at each other, grins spreading across their faces. “What if the magic from the spell actually infused into the embryo???” Starlight asked.  “Is that possible? It would explain the overactive magic….” Twilight tapped her hoof on her chin and pondered. “So the magic that we used to combine the hairs into reproductive cells actually got worked into the foal’s biology…” Starlight glanced over at Sparks. “Making it a unicorn and giving it exceptional abilities.” Twilight nodded and scribbled furiously on her scroll. “It probably doesn’t have any control over this magic though. These are just fluctuations and outbursts resulting from the overwhelming amount of magic that was used in the spell.” Starlight nodded, still looking at Sparks. “How can we control it though?” Twilight flew up and touched her horn to Sparks’ belly. Immediately, the golden aura faded and Sparks was picked up in Twilight’s magenta one. The princess lowered her friend carefully to the floor.  Sparks collapsed onto her haunches, running her hooves over the solid ground. “Oh thank Celestia that’s over.” River let out a huge sigh and sank down next to her girlfriend. “Gosh I didn’t realize how nervous I was.” The two mares nestled against one another, taking a moment to relax and decompress as Twilight and Starlight discussed possible control methods. Finally, the two mares walked over to them. “We’re gonna try Fledgeling’s Forebarence. It’s the spell we used in the Crystal Empire to curb Flurry Heart’s magic.” Starlight explained. “We hope it will stop the foal’s power fluctuations and help control the effects of the pregnancy spell.” Twilight helped Sparks to her feet and gave her a quick once over. “Although, we will now be doing magic checks at all our weekly appointments.” Sparks nodded tiredly and brushed herself off. Twilight and Starlight ignited their horns and once again the pegasus was surrounded by swirling magenta and teal magic. This time though, there was no pain. Sparks just felt a settling over her belly as the light faded. As soon as the spell was cast, Twilight returned to rushing around the library, pulling out books and scrolls.  “Okay we have to run some magic detetance test and get readings on the power of the levitation spell and see if casting through the womb is having any effect on the qualities of the magic…” River’s face went white and Sparks shouted over to the excited princess. “Actually Twilight, I think we’re just going to go home and sleep.” She could hear Starlight snickering as absolute dismay flashed across Twilight's face.  Before the alicorn could protest, Starlight nodded and guided the couple to the door. “I think that’s a good idea. Get some sleep-” She shot Twilight a sidelong glance, “And just come by sometime tomorrow so we can get a magic profile for the foal.” Sparks nodded and followed River out of the castle. Her growing belly hung beneath her as they walked quietly back through town. Sparks reached back and nuzzled her stomach. Despite the chaos and the magic and the complications that were coming as the pregnancy progressed, it was so nice to finally see and feel the evidence of the foal growing inside her. She and River walked back home, ready for a well deserved rest.  > Horny > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- River stood at the kitchen counter, chopping up daisies for dinner. Sparks sat at the table, sorting through the mail. She sat slightly back, making room for her growing belly. She was 8 months pregnant now, and her belly had started to round out very nicely.  “There’s a letter from your brother.” Sparks held out the crumpled envelope. River stiffened but didn’t turn away from the daisies.  “Let me finish dinner first.” Sparks finished sorting the junk mail out, set aside the bills, and got up to set the table. Her belly swung beneath her slightly as she set out plates, glasses of juice, and napkins. River placed daisy sandwiches on both plates and opened a bag of chips. They ate in silence for a while till River spoke, not lifting her eyes from her sandwich.  “What happened at my house after I ran out?” Sparks looked up at her in surprise. “What?” River swallowed thickly, still not looking up. “When we told them about the baby. After I ran out. Did you say something that would make my brother write to me?” Sparks looked at the rumpled envelope with Leaning Oak’s name written in the corner and River’s smack dab in the middle.  “I told your siblings that we wanted them in our lives and that you love them. I told your parents that you just wanted to make them proud and that they should love you for who you are.” River chuckled ruefully. “I’m surprised you didn’t scream at them like last time.” “I figured you had already done enough screaming.” Sparks smiled. “Besides, they didn’t make me angry that night. They usually do but then they weren’t even able to put aside their bigotry for the sake of their grandfoal...that just made me sad.” River smiled, finally looking over to the letter. “I’ll open it later” She stood and put the dishes in the sink, flicking her tail.  “I know you have had some...distractions that you could use some help with tonight.” Sparks’ breath caught in her throat. “Oh? Is that so?” River leaned over to pick a stray daisy petal off the floor, giving Sparks a long look at her ass. “Yes I think so.” The pegasus felt her wings stiffen, and clamped them hard against her side. If she got a wing boner after so little teasing, River would never let her hear the end of it.  “And...what are you going to do?” Running River walked slowly behind Sparks, trailing a hoof over the sensitive tips of her feathers. Sparks twitched and felt her stomach twist. The pregnancy had kicked her hormones into overdrive and she had spent the entire day with a light ache between her legs. Now it grew to a throbbing pulse, and she leaned subtly back into River’s touch.  The blue mare leaned in and ran her tongue over her girlfriend’s cheek, breathing soft warm breaths over the light fur there. Sparks closed her eyes and bit back a moan, crossing her legs in a vain attempt to get some kind of pressure.  “Wow…” River purred in her ear. “Pregnancy really has you all riled up doesn’t it?” Sparks whined softly. “Baby...please…” River only smiled and leaned in for a kiss. Sparks wrapped her forelegs around River’s neck and kissed her back hard. River’s hooves traveled down and rubbed circles on Sparks’ belly. She pulled back and bit down gently on Sparks’ neck, making her shiver.  “This belly of yours is really doing it for me.” River murmured.  “Oh yeah?” Sparks grinned mischievously. “You mean this belly?” She stood up off her chair and walked in a slow circle around River, accentuating the swing of her belly and the curve of her hips. River growled and grabbed Sparks’ braid, causing her to gasp. Spark’s eyes went blank for a second as the tug on her hair sent lightning streaking down to her pussy.  River pulled her into another searing kiss as she caressed her hooves over Spark’s stomach, feeling the tight, hard curve of her skin over the foal. Pulling away, River led Sparks up the steps and to their room. As soon as they stepped inside, she shoved Sparks back onto the bed and climbed over her.  Sparks gasped as River kissed down her neck and chest, slowing at the curve of her belly, then continuing down. She smiled as she kissed the curve of her girlfriend’s thighs and felt her start to tremble. River dipped her head down and buried her muzzle between Sparks’ thighs.  “FUCK!!” Sparks hadn’t realized just how wet she was. River’s tongue swirled circles over her clit as the pegasus twitched and moaned.  “Fuck River fuck…” Sparks felt herself clench as River reached a hoof up and started stroking her pussy, all while never taking her tongue off her clit.  “Fuuuuuuuuckkk….” Sparks moaned deeply as River moved her tongue and sucked her clit into her lips instead.  “Fuck River I’m close…” Sparks felt the usual clenching in her stomach, which was so much more pleasurable now with her growing belly. “Gosh baby already?” River purred, her hoof still torturing Sparks. “You must have been positively aching for me today…” “Ooohhhh….” Sparks groaned and ground herself down onto River’s hood, searching desperately for more friction.  River pulled her hoof away and stood up off the bed. “Touch yourself.” “What?” Sparks whimpered, sitting up and staring pleadingly at her girlfriend. “Why?” The earth pony merely smiled. “Do it.” Sparks collapsed back and reached down past her taut belly and circled the tip of her hoof over her clit. “Oh fuck…” she mumbled, her eyes closing. She fucked herself slowly while River rustled under the bed. When she finally returned, River was wearing a sky blue strap on, standing at the edge of the bed and offering her hoof to Sparks.  The pegasus’ eyes bugged out of her head as she mutely slid herself onto her hooves, completely transfixed by the sex toy swinging between River’s legs. The blue matched the hue of her coat almost perfectly. Sparks swallowed thickly.  “We...haven’t used that in a while…” River merely smirked and walked forward, swinging the toy as she walked. She nuzzled herself under Sparks’ chin and maneuvered her to stand squarely in front of the bed. Sparks looked back over her shoulder as River ran her hooves along either side of her turgid belly. She let the soft touch continue back until she was gripping Sparks flanks.  “What do you want, baby?” the blue mare asked, a teasing tone to her voice.  Sparks planted her hooves and lifted her haunches into the air. “I want you to fuck me.” River placed a kiss at the top of her tail as she rose up on her hind legs and mounted her girlfriend. She lined the strap on up with her vagina. Sparks inhaled sharply as the point of the toy pressed slowly into her. River took her time until the dildo was buried completely within her girlfriend. Then she shifted her hips, pulling the toy out and thrusting it back into Sparks’ soaking wet pussy. Sparks let out a loud, filthy moan and pressed her hooves harder against the floor.  “Oh my fuuuuuuucckkkkk...”  River caressed a hoof over the baby belly, loving the feeling of the tight skin and hard dome under her. Slipping her other foreleg behind the belly and between Sparks’ legs, she felt around softly before finding her prize. This time, when she thrust the strap on into Sparks, she also flicked her clit with her hoof.  “FUCK!!” Sparks threw her head back and shouted at the ceiling, her bliss falling from her lips in whimpered moans and gasping whines.  River continued flicking her clit, just like she knew Sparks liked, as she thrust her hips rhythmically against the pregnant mare’s eager vagina. She could feel herself getting embarrassingly wet and made a mental note to make Sparks’ mount her before the pregnancy was over.  When she leaned forward and ran her tongue over the sensitive feathers on Sparks’ wings, the pegasus almost fell over. Her forelegs started shaking as she hung her head low and moaned deeply.  “Ohhhhh Riveeerrrrrrr….” River felt her girlfriend start to tremble as her clit pulsed to her heartbeat. “That’s it baby. Cum for me.” Sparks was shaking, her belly swinging back and forth as River pounded her from behind. The attention to her clit and feathers were fogging her mind, and she suddenly felt a tightening somewhere by the point of her spine.  “Fuck I’m gonna cum….fuckfuckfuckfuckriverdontstopohmyfuuuuuuuuuckkk!!!!” Her string of pleas turned into a high pitched whine as River quickened her pace, thrusting her hips against Sparks and driving the toy into her over and over again.  Sparks screamed as her muscles rippled and clenched. “FUCK I’M CUMMING!!!!” She threw her head back and moaned as her whole body pulsed and shook. River grabbed her mane in her teeth, using the hold to steady herself as she held Sparks’ belly with both hooves and slammed her hips back onto the dildo. Sparks screamed again, feeling her pussy clench around the toy. She collapsed forward, her forelegs finally giving out. Her rump stayed high in the air as River kissed her flanks and belly.  “By Starswirl’s beard River…” The brown pegasus took several deep breaths to slow her heart beat as her girlfriend undid the toy’s straps. When she was finally able to stand up, she turned and pulled River into a soft kiss. The mares stumbled over to the bed and laid down easily.  “I love you” Sparks mumbled in between short kisses.  “I love you too.” She felt River smile.  Sparks finally pulled away, resting their foreheads together. “So why do you like my belly so much?” River blushed. “I like seeing our foal in you. I like seeing your belly grow each month and seeing how you just glow as you carry him or her.” Sparks snuck a hoof down between her girlfriend’s legs. River gasped as her hoof brushed over her sensitive folds.  “Damn Baby. You are soaked.” River just moaned quietly.  Sparks’ eyes slid to the strap-on that had been forgotten on the floor. “You stay right here babygirl.” River watched as Sparks rolled off the bed and buckled herself into the strap-on with great difficulty. She had to adjust the harness to fit over her new belly, but eventually she crawled back into the bed and laid on her back. The toy and her firm belly were on full display. River was captivated, running her eyes up and down her girlfriend’s frame.  “Now,” Sparks purred seductively. “With you all worked up already, I don’t suspect you’ll last long. But this way, at least you get to see us both.” She ran a hoof over her belly and looked pointedly at River.  The earth pony licked her lips and climbed on top of her girlfriend, sinking herself carefully onto the toy.  “Fuuuuuuckkkkk” she hissed as the dildo slid into her. Bracing her hooves on either side of Sparks, she lifted her haunches back up and slowly fucked herself on the strap on. Sparks reached forward and ran her hooves over the sensitive nipples on her lower belly. River moaned and opened her eyes, watching Sparks caress her.  Leaving one hoof to flick River’s nipples, Sparks returned the other to running slowly over her belly. “Look how big I’ve gotten.” “Fuck.” River muttered, her belly already starting to clench. She really wasn’t going to last long if Sparks kept doing that. She moved her hooves to either side of the baby belly and moved her hips to slide the dildo along the front wall of her vagina.  “Ssshhhiiiiiittttt…” she hissed through clenched teeth as her pussy clenched.  Sparks grinned and sat up slightly, still fondling her own stomach. “Look at how our foal is growing inside of me. How the curves of my body have become this nice round belly.” River growled and slowed her hips, trying to delay her orgasm. To her dismay, Sparks started thrusting her own hips, driving the toy into River at a torturously quick pace. The earth pony felt her pussy clench as she leaned down and took one of Sparks’ sensitive nippes in her mouth. Sparks moaned and the sound finally sent River over the edge.  “FUCK FUCK FUCK SPARKS OH MY SHIT!!!!” River hung her head and felt her hips twitch in time to Sparks’ thrusts. Her vagina pulsed and her body hummed with the rhythm of her orgasm. She moaned and whined as Sparks continued to rock her hips, drawing out every little drop of pleasure that she could.  When River was finally spent, she rolled off to the side and laid limp on the bed. Sparks slipped off the strap on and pushed it off the bed. River’s eyes were closed as her breathing slowly returned to normal. Sparks took one of her blue hooves and ran it along the soft fur on her belly.  “We’re going to be mothers.” River pulled Sparks into a cuddle, wrapping her forelegs around her and protecting the baby belly between them.  “Damn right we are.” Both mares, exhausted and limp, fell asleep safe and sound in the mutual embrace. Not even the light of dawn awoke them in the morning.   > Proposal > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- “I feel like a whale.” Sparks was on her back, craning her neck up to try and see over her enormous belly.  River just laughed and continued pressing her hooves along Sparks’ back legs. “You only have one month to go so of course your belly is gonna be big.” Sparks groaned and collapsed back against the bed. “Has it only been 10 months? Feels like I’ve been pregnant forever.” “Aw babygirl it’ll be over soon.” After a few more strokes with her hooves, River stood up and nudged Sparks. “Come on now. We gotta get to Twilight’s.” Sparks eyed the calendar on the wall as River went to brush her teeth. It had been six months now since she had gone to visit Fluttershy. Catherine had had some trouble with her kittens so Fluttershy had kept them a few extra weeks to make sure everyone was healthy and safe. River was supposed to go over to the animal sanctuary after their visit to Twilight’s, and Sparks had stopped teaching martial arts months ago so she had the whole day off.  Fluttershy had seen her in town the other day and had let her know that she could come by to pick out a kitten whenever it worked for her.  “Do you need help getting up?” Sparks jumped as River walked back in, rubbing a towel over her ears and eyeing her bed-ridden girlfriend skeptically. Sparks lifted her head and tried to sit up around her enormous belly. After a moment of straining, she gave up and rolled to her side and off the edge of the bed, falling heavily on her hooves.  “Nope!” She grinned and stood up triumphantly.  River snickered and rolled her eyes. “Come on now. Brush your teeth and let's get going. Twilight is expecting us.” Sparks walked clumsily into the bathroom, her swollen belly swinging from side to side. “Oh!” Suddenly, she grabbed her side and sat down hard. “Oof.” River looked at her worriedly. “Are you okay?” Sparks laughed and guided River’s hoof to her side. Another swift kick followed, and Sparks winced as the little hoof pressed against her womb. River grinned and pressed her hoof against the foal’s feeling the outline of their baby’s excited movements.  “Don’t encourage him.” Sparks laughed. “He’s active enough as it is.” “He?” River asked. “Did Twilight do the picturing spell on you?” Sparks blushed. “No. I know we agreed to have it as a surprise. I just… have this feeling.” River grinned. “I think it’s a girl. A little filly.” “Seems we have two names to pick out then.” Sparks winced again and ran another hoof over her distended belly. “Calm down little one. You’re hurting mommy.” River nuzzled her girlfriend as Sparks stood with great difficulty and went to brush her teeth. “I had some ideas for names.” “Yeah?” Sparks mumbled through a mouthful of toothpaste. “What are they?” “I like Melody for a filly. Or Hickory for a colt.” Sparks smiled. “Or maybe Chestnut or Brook.” “Flicker.”  “Rapids” They traded names back and forth while they walked through town towards the crystal castle. When they knocked on the door, Twilight opened up eagerly and beckoned them inside.  “Today we are going to take off the magic control spell and see how the foal’s abilities are progressing.” Sparks immediately winced and rubbed her head. “Do we have to? I still have a bump from last time.” Starlight, already standing in the library, gave her a skeptical look. “That was weeks ago. No way you still have the lump.” “Still hurts.” Sparks grumbled and River snorted.  Twilight and Starlight once again touched horns and Sparks felt a slight weight lift off her body, like removing a blanket. Immediately, she was lifted in a golden magic aura and floated upside down over the table. She crossed her forelegs and looked down at the gaping mares.  “I told you so.” River was tapping her hoof anxiously while Twilight stared up at Sparks’ belly, a slightly crazed look in her eyes.  “The magic has changed color.” Sparks blinked and looked around the cloud of sparkles that enveloped her. “What?” Starlight squinted and climbed up on the table to get a better look. “It has. Last time it was a soft orange-ish color. Now it’s gold. Like Celestia’s magic.” “What does that mean?” River gazed worriedly up at her floating girlfriend. “It means the foal’s magic is changing. Possibly that her abilities aren’t fully formed yet?” Starlight considered Sparks and reached up to wave her hoof through the magic. “It’s possible that every foal’s magic changes color while in the womb. Or that their magic color and presentation isn’t fully formed until later in development.” Twilight was scribbling furiously on a scroll.  “Later in development??” Sparks said incredulously. “I’m so big I might pop! There is no later in development.” Her belly twisted painfully as the foal kicked two hooves up into her ribs. “Ow.” Starlight took her into her own magic and pulled her down slightly, then let her go and reignited her horn, touching it gently to the golden aura. The magic immediately became a deep emerald green and Spark’s shot up towards the ceiling.  “WOAH WHAT THE FUCK??!!” “That...was a mistake.” Starlight watched the pregnant mare as she was flown in circles high above the other ponies below. “MISTAKE?!!?!” River shrieked as her girlfriend was whipped around in the air. Twilight stood, gaping, watching as the magic changed color constantly, sliding between blue and green and orange and gold. She flew up to Sparks and tried to capture her in her own magenta magic, but the foal protested once again. The magic became jetblack, then spluttered, sparked, and faded. Seeking Sparks and her unborn foal plummeted to the floor.  Starlight caught her in her teal magic just before she hit the ground. Sparks was panting, wide eyed and wild haired. River rushed over and threw her forelegs around her, gasping and heart racing.  “Oh my Celestia! Sparks are you okay??” River pulled back and made desperate eye contact with her girlfriend.  Sparks looked around the room, getting her bearings back. When she looked back, Twilight, Starlight, and River were all looking at her worriedly. Sparks snorted, then giggled, then fell on her side laughing. The three other mares looked at each other, confused and concerned. After a moment, Sparks got her breath back and sat up, only occasionally breaking out into a quick giggle or two. “Oh my goodness. I can’t believe that just happened.” Sparks wiped a tear from her eye and grinned. “I’m laughing so hard I’m crying!” Twilight just mumbled under her breath and scribbled something on her scroll before tossing it onto a pile and grabbing a new one. River placed a hoof on her forehead and one on her neck. “Fucking hell Sparks you nearly gave me a stroke.” The pegasus laughed and pulled her girlfriend into a hug. “I’m okay baby. And you have to admit, that was wild.” “Wild yes. Funny no.” River grumbled and hugged Sparks tighter. She had never been the one who was good in a crisis. Sparks, though, had always found the humor in any situation and was definitely the one who took charge in emergencies at camp.  “Not a very go with the flow moment hm?” Sparks nudged her girlfriend and grinned.  River closed her eyes and tried to bite back the ghost of a smile on her lips. It had been an inside joke of theirs for a long time. That Sparks, true to her name, was wild and hot headed and quick as a whip. And that River, like the water, was patient and persistent and flexible. But her name, Running River, belied her anxious tendencies. She wasn’t a very “go with the flow” type of pony.  Finally, the blue mare rolled her eyes and smiled at her girlfriend. “Only you Sparks.” The pegasus gave her a cocky smile as she maneuvered her bulging belly off the ground. “You love me.” River helped her to her hooves. “Yes I do.” Starlight and Twilight had been talking over by one of the tables, and the two mares walked over to join them.  “Goodness Twilight you have enough notes here for a book.” Sparks rubbed an absent minded hoof over her belly while looking at all the scrolls on the table. “That’s the idea!” Twilight’s eyes were shining with excitement as she continued writing down notes about the color changing magic. “Oh! Cool!” Sparks grinned and put her hooves up on the table, looking around at all the papers.  River surveyed the scrolls. “With these magic fluctuations, are you expecting anything different for the birth?” Twilight tilted her head and considered the question. “No, I don’t think so. We’ll put the Fledgling’s Forbearance back on and that should quell the foal’s magic. The birth should be completely normal, but just to be safe you should come here as soon as you feel contractions. We will do a quick check on the magic and then get you to the hospital.” Twilight and Starlight put the spell back on Sparks’ belly and she felt the settling feeling return. “Could the foal break through the spell?” Starlight gestured for Sparks to lie back as she scanned over her with her horn. “It’s possible. Though extremely unlikely. Do you want to know the sex?” Both mares shook their heads. Sparks stood up for her usual measurements then Starlight and Twilight deemed her good to go. River hurried to her job at the animal sanctuary, and Sparks headed for Fluttershy’s cottage.  oOo Sparks let Fluttershy fuss over her bulging belly while she pet Catharine and met all the kittens. She didn’t have to make a choice as Catherine nudged a little black kitten towards her and meowed at Fluttershy.  “She says his name is Pouncer and that he’s the one you should take home.” The black kitten purred and rubbed the side of his face on Sparks’ wing. “He’s perfect.” She smiled and leaned down to nuzzle the kitten.  Fluttershy set her up with some care instructions, toys, bedding, and food. Sparks made sure to let Catherine know she could come by and visit any time and that she would bring Pouncer to visit sometimes too. Sparks settled the kitten on her back and waved goodbye to Fluttershy as she walked heavily back home. Fluttershy had lent her a set of saddlebags and they bulged with supplies for Pouncer. Her belly wasn’t making anything easier either.  When she finally managed to trudge through the door, she shrugged off the saddle bags and let Pouncer leap to the floor. Sitting with a heavy sigh, she rested her aching hooves and slumped back against the wall. The kitten rubbed his face along her leg again before running off to explore the house.  “Alright then. Just gotta make something for dinner.”  Sparks heaved herself to standing and hid the cat supplies in the martial arts closet, knowing River would have no reason to look in there. She took out the flour, sugar, vanilla, and eggs and set herself on a stool for a long afternoon of baking.  oOo River walked tiredly into the house, mud caked on her mane and deer slobber all over her shoulder. She was met with the warm, inviting scent of vanilla and chocolate. Sparks was bent over in front of the oven, looking through the glass window. Her rump was up in the air, her tail swishing slightly and showing off the curve of her belly.  “Well hello there sexy.” Sparks nearly leapt off her hooves, spinning wildly to face River. “Hi! Wow you’re a mess.” River tossed her dirty mane. “Now is that any way to treat your girlfriend after a hard day of work?” Sparks bit her lip and stifled a bout of laughter as River continued to sarcastically walk around the kitchen with her nose turned up and her tail high. “You’re right. Welcome home my princess. Is there anything I can do for you?” Sparks bent down on one front leg and lifted her other hoof in the air, a mischievous gleam in her eye. River caught sight of her position and inhaled sharply.  “Ha! Looks more like you’re going to propose than like you’re a willing servant.” Sparks just smiled and got to her hooves, pointing to the beautifully decorated cake on the counter and the cookies in the oven. “Go ahead and clean up. I’ve got plans for us tonight.” “Oh do you?” “Yes! Now go shower!” River climbed the stairs as Sparks packed up the picnic basket and brought out sandwich materials. Once River was out of sight, the pregnant mare lifted a small gift box from under the counter and nuzzled the little kitten inside. He meowed and curled up at the bottom, nestled on a warm water bottle and soft blanket. Sparks carefully packed the box, cake, sandwiches, warm cookies, and a few other snacks into the basket then settled herself on the couch to wait for River.  oOo The mares were sitting at the end of the Camp Friendship dock, cuddled up with full and happy bellies. They watched as the sun set slowly, illuminating the camp, sky, and lake in blazing golden colors.  “I can’t believe camp season starts in just a few days.” River mused, looking back at the main camp. “Good thing we got everything ready before you were this...incapacitaed.” Sparks shoved her lightly and glanced quickly at the picnic basket. “Hey! I’m not that useless. Just a little...over burdened.” River chuckled and they sat in silence for a few more minutes before Sparks sat up and tapped her hooves nervously against the dock.  “It was right here where we had our first date. Sitting on the dock one evening after all the campers were in bed.” River smiled warmly. “We were looking at the stars and I had no idea that it was a date until you asked if you could kiss me.” “And we stood up and I kissed you and you were so nervous that you took a step back and fell in the lake!” Sparks laughed, feeling the memory warm her from the inside out and feeling her nervousness abate slightly.  “And you still haven’t let me live it down.” River smiled and looked out over the brilliant sunset.  Sparks lifted out the little gift basket and set it on the dock between them. River raised an eyebrow at her.  “What’s this?” Sparks took a deep breath, trying to stave off the shudder in her voice. “Running River. You are the love of my life. My light, my home, my anchor. You keep my steady even on my worst days, and you make me smile even through tears. We have been best friends since I moved to Ponyville, and you have always been there for me.”  Sparks caught herself speeding up, so she took another steadying breath and tried again. “I have alway been hot headed, intense, and chaotic. I run hot and I am always thinking ahead to the next thing. But Rainbowdash told me once that when you’re moving faster than the speed of light, time slows down. That lightspeed makes everything slower, like it might as well be standing still. Well, you are my lightspeed. You make everything around me seem like it doesn’t matter. When I’m with you, I never worry about how much time has passed or what our next step might be. I just live in the moment with you.” River’s eyes welled up with tears. Sparks took one last deep breath and forged ahead.  “I want you for the rest of my life. I want to wake up next to you every morning and raise this little colt or filly together. I want to support you in all your dreams, mistakes, best days, and worst days. I want to have a family with you.” Sparks lifted the lid off the box and Pouncer leapt into River’s lap. The blue mare gasped and wrapped the cat in her forelegs.  “You always said that if I were to propose, I better do it with a kitten. So,” Sparks hoisted herself onto one knee and reached out her hoof.  “Running River, Will you marry me?” The blue mare’s eyes welled with tears as she laughed and pressed her lips to Sparks’ Pouncer squirmed in her grip as she kissed her girlfriend for all she was worth. When they finally pulled apart, both mares were crying.  “Yes! Of course! Yes…” River nuzzled the kitten then leaned in and kissed Sparks again.  The two mares cuddled close and stayed on the dock for several hours, watching the rest of the sunset and then tracing the stars. And right where they had begun their journey many years ago, they now entered a new and wonderful chapter, soon to be joined by a wild and miraculous new life.  > Birth > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was the middle of the summer and Camp was in full swing. Colts and fillies were running around, playing horseshoes, boating, and doing crafts. River was out on the lake, teaching a new counselor the ropes to running the boating dock. Sparks, now 11 months pregnant and fit to burst, was sitting in the craft barn with a herd of foals. She was showing them how to tie knots in string and make friendship bracelets.  After about an hour on the lake, Running River did a round on the camp, checking in with each counselor and their group of campers. Once she was satisfied that everything was in hoof, she walked back to the craft barn to find her fiance. There was an ache between her legs that simply had to be satisfied.  Sparks was bending over, collecting string pieces off the floor, when River walked in. The blue mare felt her breath hitch as she stared at her fiance’s ass, her distended belly hanging low between her legs.  “Fuck…”  Sparks turned to see River staring at her, mouth open and eyes wide. “You okay baby?” River licked her lips. “With camp going on I haven’t had one second to appreciate how your belly has grown.” Sparks looked at her bulging midsection. “I know. I feel like an over inflated balloon. Should be any day now though.” River sauntered over, flicking her tail and nuzzling along Sparks’ jawline. “I think...I need yout tongue on me right the fuck now.” Sparks inhaled sharply. “What??” She tried to ignore the growing throbbing between her back legs as River continued to nuzzle and lick her.  “Your belly is so round and low...It’s been torture watching you walk around camp when I can’t jump you every night.” “Fuck...baby…” Sparks felt a slight tightening deep in her belly and sighed heavily as River moved her lips up to her ear.  “The strap on is in our cabin...I want you to mount me.” Sparks choked. “M-mount you?? Like this?!” She gestured to her bulging belly.  “Oh yes. Just like that.” River purred. And Sparks had to grit her teeth to keep from falling over.  “Fuck…” River grinned and led them both back to the owner’s cabin, set far back at the edge of the forest. The counselors had everything well handled and would come knocking if they needed anything. Sparks followed, a dazed look in her eyes as the friction of her legs only turned her on more. She winced when she felt another clench in her belly, but just chocked it up to pregnancy hormones making her horny, and followed River into the cabin. oOo Seeking Sparks sat up, bleary eyed and confused, looking around the cabin for whatever woke her up. The night was cool as a breeze swirled through the camp. Crickets and cicadas chirped loudly in the hoods and the occasional hoot of an owl pierced through the air. Running River was curled up on her side next to Sparks, sleeping soundly. The pegasus rolled herself out of bed and landed heavily on her hooves. Blinking, she reached back and rubbed a hoof along her low hanging belly.  “Is it just me, or have you gotten bigger since this morning?” She mumbled aloud. The foal didn’t answer her.  The pregnant mare walked slowly out of the cabin and down to the dock. She often couldn’t sleep now, her belly making it hard to get comfortable, and sometimes she went down to the dock for some peaceful stargazing. As she walked down the wooden dock, she felt a sudden tightening in her stomach. Sparks slammed to a halt, the clenching spreading throughout her abdomen. With a grunt, she played her front legs and panted lightly as the pain peaked and then faded. So that was what had woken her up. She was in labor.  “Fuck.” Sparks groaned, sliding a hoof over her belly. This was not good. She turned back towards the camp and made her way carefully back to the cabin. She didn’t make it far before another contraction tightened her muscles.  Sparks dug her hooves into the dirt and groaned. “R-River…” Her voice trailed off weakly as she fought through the growing pain. “River!” When the contraction ebbed, she shakily stepped forwarded and trotted heavily up to the cabin, sweat already starting to bead off her coat. She pushed her way inside and shook River awake.  “Wha-What time is it?” The earth pony rubbed her eyes blearily then sat straight up when she was the scared and desperate eyes of her fiance. “Sparks? What’s wrong?” Sparks winced and braced her front hooves out as her belly clenched again. “I’m-I’m in labor.” River’s eyes went wide and she gaped, frozen in place. Sparks moaned and trembled, her legs shaking as she pressed her hooves into the floor as hard as she could.  “River...please. He’s coming...fast” Sparks panted around the words as the contraction faded and she slumped against the bed. She breathed deeply, trying to catch her breath before the next pain.  River felt her heart start to race and her throat constrict. She was not good in emergencies. Sparks had always been the one who took charge, the one who kept a level head under pressure. But now here she was, scared and in pain in the middle of the night, and looking to River for help. River grit her teeth and forced herself to swallow. This was not the time to panic.  “O-okay.” She felt her voice shake and took a steadying breath. Sparks needed her to be composed right now. “Okay. Let’s get you to Twilight like she said.” Sparks nodded and got shakily to her hooves. “We need to hurry. He’s-” She clenched her eyes closed and stomped a hoof into the ground. “He’s impatient.” She whined out as the contraction burned through her.  Once she could walk, River supported her as best she could and they walked out of the cabin. River ran to the nearest counselor tent and let them know what was going on, putting her most experienced mare in charge. They would have to handle things on their own for a while. oOo In between contractions, Sparks and River trotted through town and towards the crystal castle. Every few minutes they had to stop while Sparks moaned and hung her head, fighting to keep quiet through the pain. River would rub her back and count her through the breaths of the contraction.  Camp Friendship was on the edge of town and it was a long trek to the crystal castle. Twilight had told them that labor would start lightly and take hours, so it should have been easy to get Sparks to the castle and then to the hospital. But clearly, their foal had other plans.  “River…” Sparks grunted against a particularly hard contraction. “I need...to push…” Running River’s eyes bugged out of her head as she stared at her trembling fiance. Sparks had her forelegs planted, her rump in the air as she moaned and strained against the contraction. Sweat was pouring off of her even in the cool summer night.  “Okay okay let’s just get you to the castle and Twilight can help!” River trembled nervously, scanning the quiet town to see if anypony else was awake.  “I’m- I’m not gonna make it to the castle.” Sparks sighed as the contraction eased off, giving her a moment’s rest to catch her breath. There was a slight release of pressure then Sparks felt liquid soaking her tail and hind legs. “M-My water…” Sparks gasped. River clenched her eyes shut and counted to five. This was really happening. She was going to have to deliver their foal. In the middle of night. On the street. “Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuuuuuucckk!” Sparks gritted her teeth and swished her tail out of the way as a deep pressure burned inside her. Her forelegs trembled as the foal’s head pressed against her cervix.  River moved behind her and gulped heavily as she placed her hooves on Sparks’ flanks. “Okay baby just push when you feel the urge.” Sparks hung her head and pushed against the pain in her belly. She snorted and groaned loudly, her eyes screwed shut as she held her breath and strained. Her belly clenched around the foal and pushed him down between her legs.  “R-river he-he’s coming…” Sparks collapsed down onto her side, feeling her legs straighten out as she pushed. “F-f-f-gaaaaahhhhh!” Sparks wailed.  River kneeled down and lifted Spark’s hind legs slightly. “I can see the head!” Her vagina burned as Sparks gritted her teeth again and pushed hard, feeling the pain streak through her. “Fuck! Get him OUT!!!”  River continued to stroke her fiance’s flanks as Sparks grunted and screamed, trying desperately to pass the foal’s head. The foal was stuck at the widest point, and Sparks seemed unable to get him the rest of the way out. With a choked cry, Sparks struggled back to her hooves and stood on shaking legs, her backside spread wide and strained.  “I. Want. Him. Out.” Sparks hissed through gritted teeth. She dug her hooves into the dirt and waited for the next contraction. When the pain started to build, she took every ounce of muscle that she had and clenched her abdominal muscles.  “AAAHHHHHH!!!!” She threw her head back and screamed as the foal’s head started to slip out of her, stretching her tissues and sending pain arching through her body.  River, trembling with emotions she couldn’t name, cradled the foal’s emerging head in her hooves. “You’ve almost got the head out!” Sparks huffed, panting and pawing at the ground with her hoof. “I’m too impatient for this.” She grumbled, resting before the next pain.  River snorted in spite of herself. “Is that really your biggest concern right now?” The pregnant mare didn’t get the chance to answer. She felt a deep and consuming desire to push as the worst contract yet clawed at her insides. Sparks gasped and thrust her rump higher in the air and pushed with all her might against the foal. Her throat burned with the scream that echoed forth as her belly clamped down. There was a soft pop and Sparks collapsed onto her forelegs.  “The head is out!” River wiped some of the fluid from the foal’s mouth as Sparks panted and whined.  “O-one more…” She gasped.  “”You can do this babygirl. You are doing absolutely amazing.” River rubbed soothing circles on her fiance’s flanks. Sparks pushed herself up onto her trembling hooves and clenched her eyes shut. She could do this. The contraction started low, tightening the muscles in her distended belly. The pressure in her vagina burned and Sparks spread her back legs wider and hung her head low, her scream reverberating off the buildings. “ffffffffnnnnnnggaaAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!” Sparks stamped her hoof on the ground and bore down. “FUCKING HELL JUST GET HIM OUT!!!!” Instead of tapering off, the contraction just built and built. Spots swam on her eyelids as Sparks grunted and pushed all of her strength back into her vagina.  “AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!” A tortured scream erupted from her throat as she felt the foal sliding through her vagina, the stretching making her eyes water. Then there was a sudden release of pressure and Sparks collapsed forward, still moaning.  “She’s here!” River cradled the little foal, tears pricking at her eyes. “Oh Sparks she’s here…” Seeking Sparks felt twitches of pain in her belly and grunted, pushing one last time. The placenta plopped on the ground behind her and she was finally able to sit up and breathe. River was sitting next to her, a squirming and crying pink bundle cradled in her forelegs. Sparks felt her tears spill over as she reached for the foal.  River carefully set the little unicorn in her grasp then kissed her forehead. “Baby you were amazing.” “Oh my Celestia…” Sparks sighed and cradled the wailing baby close to her chest.  “It’s a filly.” River whispered, her eyes transfixed on the little one. “A daughter.” Sparks leaned against her fiance, exhaustion settling over her. “We have a daughter.” River brushed a strand of sweaty mane out of Sparks’ eyes. “Yes we do.” Sparks cradled the filly, a beautiful light coral colored unicorn with orange and hot pink in her tousled mane. As she was rocked, she slowly stopped crying and blinked open her deep pink eyes.  “I really like Melody.” Sparks murmured, nuzzling against the baby.  The little filly giggled and her horn sparked to life, a beautiful golden aura enveloping her horn.  “Melody Gold.” River offered with a smile.  Sparks slid to a half lying position on the ground, tucking their daughter in her forelegs. “I think Melody Gold is perfect. Though I am remiss to think I was wrong about it being a colt.” River smirked at her and rose to her hooves, gently helping Sparks lie down. “Seems I was right all along. Now stay here for a moment, I’m going to run and get Twilight.” River gave them each a kiss then ran towards the crystal castle. As she disappeared, Melody started to cry again and Sparks took her warmly in her embrace.  “It’s alright little one. Mommy will be back soon.” oOo Twilight, Starlight, and River came running back down the path, a medical kit held securely in Twilight’s magic. When they neared Sparks, they all skidded to a stop, mouths hanging open. Sparks was hanging upside down in the air, a wailing pink filly tucked securely in her forelegs. They were both suspended in a cloud of shimmering black magic, and the filly’s horn was glowing with the same color.  Sparks looked at them with exasperation. “I’m too tired for this shit. Get me down.” Being suspended in her foal’s unpredictable magic had become normal to her by now, and she just wanted her hooves squarely on the ground again. And maybe a trip to the hospital to soothe her aching vagina. River clamped a hoof over her mouth to stop her scream of surprise as Twilight flew up and inspected the pair.  “Interesting. I suppose the Fledgeling’s Forebearance spell was cast partially on your uterus, so once she was born she was removed from its effects.” Twilight hovered around them, hardly affected by the screaming filly.  “Yes. Fascinating.” Sparks said sarcastically. “Just get me down.” Twilight blushed. “Right. Sorry.” She carefully took them both into her own magic and brought them to the ground. Once they were safely seated, she pressed her horn to the filly’s forehead and cast the magic controlling spell.  The filly squirmed and giggled, her magic becoming a bright gold before fizzling out as Twilight’s spell took hold. Starlight cocked her head and looked at the filly quizzically.  “Did you see her magic change color?” “Her name is Melody.” Sparks said wearily as River stepped forward and picked up their daughter.  “And her magic was gold when I left. Why would it change color?” River cradled the baby as Starlight inspected her horn.  “I have no idea, but I would suspect it has something to do with the extra magic that was infused into her via the pregnancy spell. Perhaps the colors are tied to her emotions. Magic is all about concentration and feeling afterall…” Starlight studied the filly while Twilight checked over Sparks.  “No obvious injuries or tearing. Still, let’s get you both to the hospital for a proper examination. Just to make sure everything is okay.” Twilight zapped away the afterbirth then gathered them all in a group. There was a flash of magenta light, then they were standing at the entrance to Ponyville General.  Starlight turned to the couple. “Sparks, you said your parents live in Cloudsdale right?” “Yeah.” She wobbled slightly, exhausted from the night’s events.  “I’ll send Rainbow Dash to get them. And River, your-” “Don’t.” River cut her off and shook her head. “Don’t bother.” Starlight raised an eyebrow but didn’t press. “Alright. I”ll meet you all back here later.” With a flash of teal light, she was gone.  Twilight helped Sparks walk inside while River carried Melody. The sun was just beginning to rise and the little filly cooed and snuggled into her mother’s grasp. River chuckled and held her a little tighter.  “You certainly are going to be something unlike Equestria has ever seen before aren’t you?” Melody just yawned and sucked her hoof in response. River followed Sparks and Twilight into the hospital, where they were certainly the strangest party the doctors had ever seen: The princess of friendship, a flightless pegasus who had just given birth on the street, her lesbian fiance, and the first ever magically-conceived foal in all of Equestria. > Aftermath > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Darkened Sky and Firetrail were in the hospital room with Sparks. River stepped quietly out, wanting to give her fiance a few minutes alone with her parents. She stared down the empty hallway of the maternity ward, then flicked her ear at the sound of a happy sob from inside the room. River smiled ruefully. Darkened Sky was such a sap. She sighed and rested her head on the wall, feeling a burning disappointment somewhere in her belly. When her eyes slid over Darkened Sky and Firetrail as they cooed over the baby, she felt jealousy start to eclipse the disappointment, but she forced the feeling down and turned away. It wasn’t Sparks’ fault that her parents were supportive, and River would never want anything less for her fiance.  A flash of blue light sparked somewhere behind her, then Starlight walked up and peered into the room.  “How’re Sparks and the baby?” River smiled slightly, tears still wetting her eyes. “They are perfect. We named her Melody Gold.” Starlight nodded, then slid her eyes sideways to look at Running River. “So listen...I know you told me not to, but your parents deserve to know they have a granddaughter…” The fur on River’s back prickled and she whipped her head around to snarl at the unicorn. “You told them??” Starlight took a nervous step back, then squared her shoulders and furrowed her brow. “Y-Yes! You may not like them, but they deserve to know your daughter!” The blue earth pony’s green eyes blazed. “Not like them??? They kicked me out Starlight! They disowned me and refused to let me come home!!!”  Advancing on Starlight, River felt her voice rising, but she didn’t care. “THEY ABANDONED THEIR TEENAGED DAUGHTER JUST BECAUSE SHE LOVED ANOTHER MARE!!!!” Tears began to spill down her cheeks as River felt the lump in her throat cut off her next words. Gritting her teeth, she spun and turned away from the startled unicorn. “They don’t deserve shit in my life.” River clenched her eyes shut, feeling the hospital lights burn through her eyelids. Rhythmic beeping, wheel rattling, and pony voices made her ears ring as she felt suddenly unsteady on her hooves.  “River...I-I’m so sorry. I had no idea…” Starlight reached out a hoof to the blue mare’s shoulder, but before she could comfort her friend, the earth pony had fled down the hall. Sighing, Starlight knocked on the doorframe to the hospital room and winced at Sparks’s delighted smile as she gestured her inside.  oOo Running River made it just outside the hospital door before she collapsed to her haunches, breath coming in short ragged gasps. Her vision swam with tears and panic as she tried to steady the anxiety attack that was raging through her. Her forelegs shook uncontrollably and she wrapped them around herself, trying to hold all her pieces together. Sobbing, River felt the crushing waves of sorrow, anger, and bitterness wash over her again after all these years.  “River?” Her breath caught in her throat as the familiar soft voice echoed behind her. River turned, stricken to see her mother standing there. Whitewater had her ears laid back and a measured look in her eyes.  “I-....Starlight told us that Sparks had the baby.” River could hardly breathe. Her mother was standing right there, in front of her, speaking to her. Whitewater rubbed the back of her head with her hoof. “Um. I...I know you probably wouldn’t want to see me, but I wanted to meet her.” Her daughter spun back around, refusing to let her mother see the tears running down her cheeks. “Where’s dad.” She asked flatly. The white mare grimaced. “He uh… He’s busy.” “Bullshit.” “River…” “Look, Whitewater, we both know why he’s not here.” Whitewater winced. “You can call me mom.” “I don’t know if I agree. A mother wouldn’t abandon her daughter because she’s gay.” River snarled over her shoulder.  Sighing, the white mare stepped towards her hurting daughter. “Running River, I am sorry for that. Your father and I...we just…” She sighed again, not finding the words right for what she wanted to say.  River laughed ruefully. “It’s too late for apologies.” Whitewater sat heavily on her haunches. “I know we hurt you. I know I hurt you. I just wanted to meet my grandfoal.” “Her name is Melody Gold. She is a coral pink unicorn filly with pink, orange, and red in her mane and tail. She’s beautiful and feisty and perfect and Sparks is fine thanks for asking.” River hardly took a breath as she let all her frustration and pain pour into her words.  Whitewater closed her eyes. “Right. I’m sorry. How is Seeking Sparks? How was the birth?” “Well she gave birth last night in the middle of Ponyville.” River said with a snarl. “No one around to help or offer any support. Suppose that’s just how the mares in this family are meant to be treated.” “River…” “No!” The blue mare spun on her heel and stared at her mother, green eyes burning with fury. “You kicked me out! You abandoned me!!! You don’t get to just walk up here and ask to see my perfect new daughter and act like everything is okay!!” “I...I want to be in your life again…” Whitewater whispered meekly.  “Then you are going to walk away right now and give me so fucking time to think about this!!!” River’s chest heaved as she fought to speak through the tears. She fought against the part of her that wanted to just collapse into her mother’s forelegs and let her tears fall like when she was a filly. Whitewater didn’t deserve that forgiveness yet.  “If you really want to be in my life, then you are going to work for it. You are going to prove to me that I can trust you again!!” River turned towards the hospital door, turning her back on her mother. “And you are going to figure out what to do about my father.” “Darling…” “NO!” River stamped her hoof and refused to turn back to Whitewater. “No. You do not get to walk up here like everything is okay and ask for a place back in my life. You and father DISOWNED ME!!!” Taking a shaking breath, Running River looked slightly back over her shoulder, still not making eye contact. “If you want to be my daughter’s grandmare, then you are going to prove to me that you won’t hurt her like you hurt me.” “River....” “Goodbye mother.” River walked back into the hospital on shaking legs, but she never once looked back over her shoulder.  oOo Firetrail was the first to notice the tear tracks on River’s fur and the redness of her eyes. She angled her head towards the door as soon as River walked through it, and the blue mare reluctantly followed her out to the hallway.  “What happened?” The peach colored pegasus reached out and brushed a tear from River’s cheek.  The earth pony leaned into the caring touch, feeling the ache in her heart ease just the slightest bit. “Starlight told my parents. I ran into my mother outside.” Firetrail felt her wings bristle. She had always been protective of River, ever since she had been forced to move into their home as a teenager when her parents kicked her out. There was no doubt that Fire’s feisty attitude fit her name well, and her husband often joked that Sparks was just a smaller version of her rambunctious mother.  “You are under no obligation to forgive her.” River smiled sadly. “I know. And I told her as much. But it’s hard to turn your mother away when she’s finally trying to make amends.” Firetrail pulled River into a tight hug, wrapping her forelegs and wings around the young mare she had long thought of as another daughter. “You know you have a family right here who supports you always. A beautiful fiance, and a perfect new daughter.” River returned the embrace, feeling her broken pieces starting to stitch back together. “Sparks told you about the proposal I guess?” Laughing, Fire rubbed her back soothingly. “Yes she did. And I can’t wait to walk you down the aisle.” “What?” River pulled back and looked quizzically at her soon to be mother in law.  Firetrail smiled at her. “Well, if Darkened Sky is going to walk Sparks down the aisle, then I think it is only fitting if I accompany you.” Tears welled up in River’s eyes again. “Shit Fire you’re gonna make me cry again.” The pegasus smiled and cocked her head back towards the hospital room. “Why don’t you go hug my daughter and tell her what happened?” River smiled, feeling a soothing warmth flow through her as she looked in at her girlfriend and their new daughter. “I love her so much.” Fire nudged her and watched as River walked into the room, her eyes shining as she climbed into the bed next to Sparks. Sky kissed his daughter’s forehead, then walked into the hallway to join his wife.  “She’s incredible.” Fire laughed at him. “Sparks or Melody?” Sky grinned, pride showing in his eyes. “Both!” “She certainly has come so far from that little filly in a wing brace.” Firetrail fluffed out her feathers and leaned against her husband’s shoulder.  “Do you ever think about what our lives would be like if she had never hit that flag pole?” Sky asked quietly.  Fire looked over her daughter and her beautiful girlfriend and their perfect new baby. “I think we are all exactly where we are meant to be.” Sky nodded slowly. “I suppose a broken wing could be a good thing.” Smiling, the peach pegasus closed her eyes, remembering the look on Seeking Sparks’ face after her first summer at Camp Friendship. “That wing will always be a reminder of her pain and what she can’t do, but it’s also a reminder of everything she has now and all the ponies and experiences she’s known since she started camp.” “And camp certainly is the reason she is who she is today.” Sky wrapped a foreleg around his wife. “And the reason we still have her with us.” The two pegasi watched from the doorway while their daughter and her fiance comforted one another and marveled over their new daughter.  Melody Gold, the first magically conceived foal in all of equestrian history, had an entire life to look forward to, and no one knew how her magic would manifest or what her future would be. But one thing was for sure, Equestria would have to watch out, because any foal of Seeking Sparks and Running River was certain to be a force to be reckoned with.
