This a backstory of my OC: Princess Skyla. In this book, you'll also learn where does Princess Mi Amore Cadenza really come from.
Have you ever wondered where does Princess Cadence come from? According to the book "Twilight and the Crystal Heart Spell", she was lost in a forest and found by villagers. We never knew where did she really come from. It is also a backstory of Princess Skyla, Princess Cadence's older sister. She had come to Equestria to find her little sister and live with her. However, someone will want her power and try to convince her to come back. She will have to accept a very difficult challenge. Sadness, mysteries, new lands, will be solved and discovered in this story.
It was a normal day at the Crystal Empire. Shining Armor and Cadence were doing their usual Royals business. The Mane 6 decided to come to visit the Royal Family.
"Girls! What are you doing here?"
"We can't visit the best Royal Couple?" Joked Twilight. The others chuckled at her joke. Then, a familiar little alicorn flew quickly to hug her aunt.
"We still have some business to do. Why don't you go play with Flurry? We'll talk at dinner."Said the Prince. The Mane 6 nodded and took Flurry Heart away from the Throne Room.
While they were playing with Flurry Heart, Flash Sentry entered the Throne Room unexpectedly. "Your Majesties, you have a visitor."He said, referring to the Royal Couple. "She claims to be close to Princess Cadence."
"Send her in, Flash."Responded Cadence. The guard bowed and nodded as an answer.
"I have to tell you that this visitor is quite unexpected.Then, he opened the door, revealing a white alicorn with a blonde and pink mane. Flash left them alone. Cadence teared up as she saw who the pony was.
"S-Skyla?"She stuttered. The pony nodded. The Crystal Princess slowly walked to her before hugging her tightly.
"I thought I'd never see you again..."She mumbled. The alicorn, apparently named Skyla, hugged back before saying : "I missed you too." They broke the hug. Then, Skyla noticed Shining Armor wide-eyed behind Cadence. "You might wanna give some explanation to your husband."
Cadence looked back and saw her husband shocked. She walked back to her throne then said: "Let's settle this in the dining room since its almost dinner." We nodded and got to the dining room. The Mane 6 were called by a servant to get to the dining room. When they arrived, they were shocked to see an alicorn sitting right beside Cadence.
"Before you ask, sit down first and I'll explain to you."Said the Princess. The mares nodded and each took a sit.
"Now, tell us who is this alicorn."
"Guys, meet Princess Mi Amore Skylenza, my sister."
"Girls! What are you doing here?" "We can't visit the best Royal Couple?" Joked Twilight. "We still have some business to do. Why don't you go play with Flurry? We'll talk at dinner."Said the Prince. The Mane 6 nodded and took Flurry Heart away from the Throne Room. Flash Sentry entered the Throne Room unexpectedly. "Your Majesties, you have a visitor." "Send her in, Flash."Responded Cadence. Cadence teared up as she saw who the pony was. "S-Skyla?"She stuttered. The Crystal Princess slowly walked to her before hugging her tightly. "I thought I'd never see you again..."She mumbled. "You might wanna give some explanation to your husband." "Let's settle this in the dining room since its almost dinner." Present time
"Your WHAT!?"Asked Shining, dumbfounded. "You never told us you had a sister." Cadence gulped.
"He's right. You said you were lost in a forest and you were found by villagers."Confirmed her sister-in-law.
"Indeed she was."Said Skyla.
"You see, I hit my head so I temporarily lost my memories. When I got them back, I was already adopted as Princess Celestia's niece."Explained Cadence. "By the way, you never told why you were here."She continued, referring to her sister.
"I'm moving here."She simply answered.
"Y-You are?" Skylenza nodded. "Well, if you're moving here in Equestria, You can't stay at the Crystal Empire because of our secret"Cadence whispered the rest in her ear. "Oh," Said Skyla. The others were confused but were polite enough to not ask quest
"What kind of place do you need, Princess?"Asked Twilight.
"Please, call me Skyla."She allowed. "And for your question, I need somewhere near a forest." Twilight raised a brow but still answered: "Well, I suggest you live with me in my castle at Ponyville. We have the Everfree Forest just half a mile away."
"If it's not too much trouble, of course."
Twilight smiled: "Don't worry. It's nice to have someone in the castle while I'm at the School of Friendship."
"You have a school?" It was clear that Skyla was amazed. Twilight nodded. "Then, It's settled. Princess Skylenza will stay at The Castle of Friendship. We're leaving tomorrow at dawn. Is it okay with you, Skyla?".
"Sure."
"It's getting late. Why don't yoou go to sleep? You have a long trip tomorrow." The others nodded. Flurry Heart was already asleep on a corner of the table. They chuckled then went their separate ways. The next days were indeed going to be long.
In the morning, everyone was still a bit shocked about last night's revelation. But, they knew they had to accept it. They were also excited about knowing more about the alicorn's past. The Royal Family decided to escort the Mane 6 and Skyla at the train station. The time for goodbyes had come.
"I promise to try to come to visit you almost every weekend."Promised Cadence's sister.
"You better do."Warned the Crystal Princess. Skyla nodded and hugged her sister
"Guys, hate to ruin the moment but the train is about to go."Stated Dash.
"See you, sis."Said Cadence.
"See you too!"Replied her sister before entering the train. She used her magic to hide her wings since she didn't want anypony to see she was an alicorn. She sat down near Rainbow Dash. The pegasus could tell that something was bothering the alicorn beside her. She decided to talk to her.
"Skyla, you okay?"
"Of course. Why?"
"I can tell something's bothering you."
"I assure you I'm fine."
"Bullshit." Skyla sighed. She knew she couldn't escape the rainbow-haired mare.
"Can you keep this as a secret until we get there?" Rainbow nodded and did the pinkie promise.
"You see. I kinda escaped coming here."
"You mean, somepony doesn't want you to come here."
"Yeah. And I'm afraid that pony will locate and put you all in danger."
"But who?"
"When we get to Ponyville, I'll give you the full story."
"Promise?"
"Promise." Then, they saw that they arrived in Ponyville. They got down the train.
"Before I show you the town, let's go to the Castle to put down our stuff. I'm pretty sure we're tired."Said Twilight. They nodded and followed the Princess to the castle. Skyla was amazed as she saw the Castle of Friendship. "It's amazing!"
"I'm sure you have a Castle better than this."Said Twilight, blushing a bit.
"Well, I do have a Castle bigger than this. But, I've always loved things made of Crystal."
"Let's go show you the town." Skyla nodded as agreement.
"Spike!" Skyla looked at her in confusion and asked: "Who's Spike?"
"My adopted little brother, my number one assistant, and friend."
"Oh."The other Princess simply said. Then, she saw a baby dragon.
"I'm here Twilight. Oh, we have a new guest."Spike said
"Spike, meet Princess Skyla, of Cadence's sister." Introduced Twilight. The dragon's jaw dropped.
"Cadence has a sister!?"
"Yes. Skyla will live with us so can you prepare a bedroom for her?" Spike closed his mouth and nodded. We put down
"Also, do you know where is Starlight?"
"She's preparing school since school starts in two days."
"Tell her to meet me at Sugarcube Corner."
"Okay!" They left the castle leaving Spike organizing their bags. They gave the new princess a full tour of Ponyville. Skyla was pleased with the kindness and hospitality of the ponies.
"Let's go to Sugarcube Corner. They make the sweetest things in town."Suggested Twilight before leading Skyla to the sweetest place of Ponyville, S.C Corner. Skyla loved sweet things. She has a sweet tooth. She sat down near the Princess of Friendship. Skyla saw a unicorn. She had purple hair with light turquoise highlights. Her fur was light violet.
"Skyla, this is Starlight Glimmer, my ex-student. Starlight, this is Skyla, Princess Cadence's sister."
"Your Majesty."Greeted Starlight with a bow.
"No need to bow. And call me Skyla."
"What do you want to eat?"Asked Mrs. Cake, the keeper of S.C.C.
"Do you a pineapple pie? Oh, and a chocolate cupcake." She searched for Skyla's order. Skyla sat down and ate her order. She paid for it. Twilight saw what she did and gasped: "I was supposed to pay!"
"You are already letting me stay in your Castle. Paying for my food is the least I can do." Twilight sighed in defeat. They said goodbye to Mrs. Cake and trotted back to the Castle. Twilight's friends were all there.
"We wanted to know more about you. So, we came here. If you want to, of course." Skyla frowned. She knew that question would come out eventually.
"If you promise to never tell this to anypony, I'll tell you." They nodded. Skyla used her magic to make her wings reappear. She also created a throne for her.
"I come from... Lynxia" Twilight and Starlight stared at her, wide-eyed. "THE KINGDOM OF THE LYNXES!!?" They squealed.
"Yeah..." Skyla responded, a bit confused about their reaction.
"Lynxia is the biggest feline kingdoms!"Twilight gasped.
"It's also one of the most powerful kingdoms."Said Starlight.
"Wait. If you're from a feline kingdom, why are you an alicorn, Darling?" Asked Rarity. Skyla gulped, afraid of their reactions after. She lit her horn and a blinding pink light wrapped her. All covered their eyes. When the light dissipated, A pink, yellow, and purple lynx stood right in front of them.
"I am half-Lynx, half-pony." Everypony's jaw dropped.
"H-How...?" Stammered AJ.
"My mother is a pegasus while my father is the King of the Lynx."
"But, that means Cadence is a lynx too."Assumed Twilight.
"That's where you are wrong. My parents gave birth to three children. Me, Cadence, and our brother, Ceres. Cadence carried my mother's blood, my brother carried my dad's, and I carried both." All gave an "oh!" in realization. Skyla changed back. Then, Rainbow remembered something. "On the train, you said someone is looking for you. Who is it?" Skyla bit her bottom lip. She knew she promised to tell her once they arrived. And as a Lynx princess, she had to keep her promise. Law says that if a lynx royalty does not keep a promise, they will have to suffer the wrath of the ancestors. Loyalty is one of the most important things in the Lynx kingdom. But if she told them, she will have to suffer the wrath of somelynx.
"Alright. Even, though I will have to suffer the wrath of a very short-tempered Lynx. But, I promised Dash to tell you when we are here and I'm not willing to break a lynxian rule." They raised a brow at her. She just ignored them.
"You see, if a lynx princess doesn't find a mate at the age of 16, the King will have to choose for them. That happened to me since I have a very specific taste for boys. My dad chose the son of his best friend. His name was Eros. When I met him, we got along but a few months later, he became more abusive. At first, it was just a few slaps.
Hey Eros, you ok?" I asked. He just ignored me and went on. "Eros!"I called sternly. He growled but didn't say anything. "EROS!" His eye twitched but decided to answer. "WHAT THE HELL DO YOU WANT!?" I was shocked. He never yelled at me. "Um, nevermind..." Angry, he slapped me hard with his paw leaving a red bruise.
I teared up since I still felt the pain of that slap. Fluttershy noticed and put her hoof on my shoulder to comfort me. I smiled a bit and continued.
I heard some steps. Thinking it was Eros, I hid quickly, not wanting to get another scar. "Skyla? It's me." I sighed. It was just mother. "Skyla, my lil' cub. Why are you hiding?" "No reason, mother." "I don't think so. So you better tell your mama what is going on." "Do not worry, mother. I'm absolutely fine." Queen Sky Crystal was a bit skeptical, but shrugged it off. That is until she saw something that made her gasp. A bandage right on her beloved daughter's belly, me. Me being her favorite, she immediately reacted. "Skylenza, why do you have a bandage?" Sh*t. The full name. "I fell down." "And then, you're gonna say that you accidentally cut yourself with a knife when I ask about the bandage on your paw?" Ugh, why does she have to know me so much. "Um..." "C'mon baby, you can tell mommy everything." "It's just that... Eros has been... abusing me for a while..." "What!? That little bi-" "Mother" "Right. I’m sorry, dear. Do you happen to know why is he like that?” “That’s the problem. I don’t even know why is he doing that.” “Did you at least ask him?” “I tried to. But, in response, he scratched me on the belly with his claws.” “That explains the bandage. Why don’t you tell your father?” “No I can’t! I can’t let Dad down. He already had a hard time finding a mate for me. And being ungrateful is the last thing I wanna do right now.” “Skyla, he’s your father. And I know that he always puts his family first. He’ll do what he can to at least stop you from getting scars with that jerk.” “I know mom, but-“ “No buts. We’re going to your father, right now. Whether you like it or not.” “Fine...” We went to the throne room where Dad was talking to a few counselors. When we arrived, the counselors bowed to us and Dad dismissed them. “Crystal? Skyla? What brings you here?” “Show him, Skyla.” I was in my alicorn form at that time. I spread my right wing to reveal the bandage I had. Immediately, my dad’s pupils shrunk and turned red. That, was a bad sign. “Who...Who did this.” I was too scared to say anything. My dad could burst out in anger at any time. My mom answered in my place. “None other than the lynx you betrothed to her.” “Eros? Why would he do such a thing!?” “We don’t know either.” “Well, this can’t continue. She’ll die at this rate.” “Don’t exaggerate, dad. I’m fine.” “You say that, but you’re not.” “Ugh, and even if I wasn’t fine, what would you anyway. You can’t arrest your own best friend’s son.” “You have a point. But still, I have to do something.” “Excuse me to interrupt you two. I think I have a solution.” “What is it, Crystal?” “Yeah mom, what do you have in mind?” “Well, as you both know, I am still in contact with Cadence. And we know she’s in a good place right now.” I knew immediately what she wanted to say. “You can’t possibly insinuate that I should run away to Cadence’s kingdom.” I couldn’t go there. I had to stay here at Lynxia. “Well, your mom’s idea isn’t that bad. Maybe that’s the best thing we can do.” “Not you too, dad. I can’t go there. I’m going to be 25 soon. I’m going to be crowned queen of Lynxia. I’m the heir, I can’t run away. Even if it was for a little while, that would be a bad example.” “Ceres can take your place. At least until you can come back. If you can.” “What about Eros, huh? If he learns that I ran away, he’ll attack every single one of you. The people I care. Look, I made a promise to you that I’d be a true leader for the Kingdom. And running away will mean breaking that promise. A true leader never runs away from their problems.” “A true leader looks out to his people. If anything happens to you, no one can take care of the people. This is not just for your protection, but also the people’s, Skyla.” I sighed. My dad was right. As the law says, they’d have to retire when the heir is 25. And retiring means giving every ounce of power they have to the next ruler. Yet, if something happens to me, the whole kingdom would be in chaos without a ruler since my little brother was only 21. And Cadence had her own kingdom, now. Though I didn’t want to leave, I knew deep down it was the best thing to do. “Fine... But I’m gonna miss you so much...” “We will miss you too, darling. Don’t worry, we’ll come visit when we can.” “Oh, and I need a map.” My dad used his magic to make a map, a saddlebag full of provisions and clothes and a locket appear. I recognized that locket. It was the one my childhood best friend gave me. Inside was the picture of my family on one side and one the other my best friend and me. “Take this locket with you. It’ll be a good memory of us.” I hugged both of them since it may be a while since I’ll see them again. Just then, Ceres arrived. “I saw dad’s signal. What’s wrong? Who’s going on a trip?” “Your sister is going to move out and go to Cadence.” “Wait, what? Why? What about Eros?” “In fact, he is the reason I’m going, Ceres.” “Why? What did he do?” “We’ll give you a full story later. For now, say goodbye to your sister.” He approached and hugged me. “So I’m gonna be an only child, now? That sucks, Sky, you know.” “It’s just until we can clear things with Eros. Just promise me to be good and protect our parents for me, ok?” “Fine, I promise.” We had a family group hug and I used a portal to go discreetly far away from the Kingdom. I waved them goodbye before entering the portal.
“That’s what happened. And now, I’m here. Staying with you guys.” Everyone was dumbfounded by her story. It was so tragic, considering she had to leave her family just because of an abusive fiancé. Suddenly, they all stood up and hugged her as a sign of comfort. “It’s okay, Skyla. From now on, you can stay here with us.” “Twilight’s right. Now, you have us. You don’t have to worry about any creature bothering you.” Confirmed Rarity. “And we will never leave you.” Said Applejack “Yes, we’ll always be your awesome friends!” Bragged Rainbow as always. “You can always count on us for anything” Added Fluttershy. “We’re always gonna make you smile!!!” Squealed Pinkie. Skyla was shocked. Apart from her parents and best friend, who disappeared years ago, she never got this much attention. She had very few true friends since she was a princess. Most people liked her for her power and riches. “You know what, I do miss my family. But I think I’ll love it here.” She said with a smile.
It's been two days since Skyla arrived to Ponyville. She was already getting warmed up to the small town's inhabitants. She was still amazed at the warm welcome she got. Apparently, she will even get a welcome party this weekend. Though she missed her family she didn't regret coming here. She knew that leaving her home was the best thing to do for now.
Skyla is starting to get bored. She didn't have much to do today. She would've just spent the day reading with Twilight or hanging out with the Mane 6 and Starlight or even play with Spike. But they were all busy today. The Friendship School's starting today so they have to go work. She figured she would just roam in town today. Just then, Starlight appeared, all ready to go to the school. "Hey Skyla", she greeted "Hey Starlight. Ready to go to work I see." "Yeah. Twilight's already gone since she has to prepare and check some stuff before officially starting. What about you? You think you'll be good alone?" "I'll be fine. Bored but fine. I'll just roam in the town and chat with somepony." "You're sure? You can always come with us and visit the school, you know." "I don't wanna be a burden. I'm pretty sure you have so much work to do especially that it's first day." "It'll be fine. Teaching's pretty fun at the Friendship School. And maybe you can teach something to the students. You'll be like a guest!", said Rainbow Dash. "Will Twilight approve of my presence there...?" Asked Sky, worried about how the friendship princess will react if she goes there. "She'll be delighted, darling!" Replied Rarity.
The mane five were all there. Their eyes were all pleading for the hybrid to go with them. Skyla looked at them, unsure of what she should do. She didn't want to disturb them. But then again, they said she could be a guest. And, she had nothing to do. Yet, she hesitated because Twilight didn't say she could go. But she knows how much Twilight loves showing her school to others. So, she should be fine. "Fine. I'll go. But if anything about me disturbs you, be sure to tell me." All of them squealed and hugged the Lynx princess.
The seven mares arrived at the School of Friendship. Twilight was a bit stunned, but excited to see Skyla with them. "Skyla! I didn't expect you to be here! Are you here to visit?" "Yeah... I hope I won't be a burden to you..." "A burden? You're a guest here! You are welcome to come anytime you want!" "Told ya." Whispered Dash to Skyla. The alicorn-lynx just rolled her eyes but smiled.
They entered the school. It was still empty since the students won't arrive until 9. It was only 8:15 so they used the extra time to give Skylenza a tour of the building. She loved every single part of it. She was amazed to see the unique organization of the classes. It looked more of a playground and a relaxing place rather than a school. She was excited to see the classes proceed though she already knew it would be fantastic.
Six creatures arrived at the school. It seemed they were the first students to arrive. They all smiled seeing the violet building that formed their friendship. "Ah. I missed this place." Said the changeling. "Same. Feels good to be back." Confirmed the green pony. "Yona excited to go to class with friends and see professors!" Said the yak, presumably named Yona. "Yeah. But it's cool to be able to come back to this place where I can prank someone without being thrown on the streets", smirked the griffon. "Oh you're so funny, Gallus! But most importantly it'll be fun to finally be together with you guys again!", squealed the hypogriff. Everycreature agreed to the hypogriff's words. One seemed quieter than usual though.
"Smolder, are you okay? You're awfully quiet." Asked Ocellus, the changeling. The dragon, Smolder, seemed a bit in the clouds, deeply thinking. Yet, she still replied to her friend. "Huh? Yeah I'm fine Ocellus. Just thinking about something." "Do you wanna talk about it?" "Oh don't bother. It's nothing. Let's just go inside." Ocellus was skeptical but let it be. She knew her friend needed some space. And plus, the student reunion is about to start so she'll talk about it later.
The hall was filled with many students. They were from every corner of Equestria and even beyond. The staff of the school all stood on the platform in front of the students. Everyone was there. The headmaster, Twilight Sparkle. Spike the Dragon, her assistant. The school counselor, Starlight Glimmer. The teachers : Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Fluttershy, Apppejack and Pinkie Pie. Princess Skyla stood behind them, away from curious eyes. She was waiting to be presented, before showing herself. She was in her lynx form to represent her kingdom, Lynxia. She was a bit nervous of how the students will react. Lynxes were never known for showing themselves outside their kingdom, excepting some meetings or during war. She, herself, has never seen the Diarchs of Equestria, Celestia and Luna. She never accompanied her parents to the meetings they had with other royals. She didn't like meetings. Yet, she'd have to go one day since she's the Crown Princess of the Lynxian kingdom. But she's a little bit relieved her coronation will be retarded. Well, she doesn't have to worry about that, now.
Twilight started her speech : "It's very heartwarming to my friends and myself to see you here in this school, ready for a friendship school year. I'm sure all of you are excited to attend classes and make some friends. All of us, both teachers and students, will make sure this semester will be one of the best you will ever have. We will make sure that it will be engraved in your heart, making it one of the best memories you'll make." Every student cheered, showing their excitement and approval of what their headmistress just said. Twilight waited for a seconds to let the cheering die down, before continuing. "The rules in this school were specially made to let you have fun without making the others uncomfortable. I hope you will all contribute into following those few rules we have. Your dorms and schedules will be shared by my faithful assistant, Spike. We will get to that later but first we want to present someone." Skyla was getting more and more nervous. In about a minute she will have to show herself. She's scared because she has never shown herself to so many creatures before. She took a big breath to calm herself down. "I'm sure at least one of you knows about the legendary kingdom of Lynxia. It is the most powerful feline kingdom, inhabited by graceful Lynxes. And a few days ago, I had the honor to meet one. And not just any lynx. One who is powerful in both status and magic. And I also had the honor to host her in the Friendship Castle. I hope all of you will warmly welcome her. Now, I have the honor to present to you, Crown Princess Skylenza, heir to the Lynxian throne!" The announced stepped out from behind her friends. She had her head up, showing her nobility. The students cheered when they saw her, and they bowed, showing their respect for her. Skyla scanned every face. She did not see any hint of fear or despise. Only faces of excitement and welcome. She sighed in relief and began to start speaking : "You can all rise." They all stood straight, with bright smiles, waiting for what Her Majesty has to say. "It is my great pleasure to meet every single one of you. I admit I was a bit nervous for we are not known to show ourselves outside our kingdom. I am equally pleased and stunned by all your excited welcomes, despite my predator race. I am sure all of you are great students, ready for a semester full of friendship and happiness. I may not stay here forever but I sure will visit often. Because we all know that Friendship is the ship that never sinks. I'm sure we will all have a great-" Before she could finish her sentence, an explosion was heard outside. Everyone's attention was immediately drawn to the unknown origin of the explosion.
Twilight and her friends were the first ones to get out. Skyla was too stunned and sensitive about the sound so she stayed behind. Outside, an emblem was carved in the place where the explosion was supposed to happen. On it, there was a magical parchment. Skyla finally managed to get out and paled when she saw the emblem. She almost fell back. Starlight took the parchment and read what was inside. She frowned. "It's in another language. I can't seem to know which one." Twilight took it from her and read it herself. She was also confused. "You're right. It looks like an ancient language. I can't seem to identify." Skylenza faced away, already knowing who sent the parchment. "It's Lynxian. Eros sent it..." Her friends were all suddenly worried, except for Spike, who was confused. Twilight put her hoof on her lynx friend's shoulder. "Well maybe can you translate it for us?" Skyla trembled when she took the parchment, not wanting to know what horrible message Eros sent to her. She opened it and started to translate it slowly. "...Don't think you can escape me, Skylenza... I know where you are and I will get you back... And you will give me what I always wanted since we were little. So if you want to save your dear brother and protect your friends, you better come back by tomorrow. Eros" She teared up when she finished reading it and ran away. The others were worried for her and confused. One of them flew away to comfort her friend.
