> Life in Equestria > by TPC-2k16 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > The Honest-To-Goodness Life > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It’s a clear, sunny day at Sweet Apple Acres today, making it the perfect day to work on the apple harvest. Applejack and Big Mac (grown-up AJ and BM) are both busy bucking away at all the apple trees filled with bright, shiny red delicious apples. Oh, and Kyle is also there. He "happened" to agreed to help out this year, what’s with (Grown-up) Applebloom being super busy tutoring at the School. “Ow! Applejack, how do you do it?” Kyle painfully asked after just getting hit on the head for the fiftiest time by an apple. “I guess I never thought apple bucking would be so much harder than I thought?” Kyle said while rubbing his head with a hoof, sitting down on his haunches on the grass. “Ah chucks. You’ll get use to it. Every Apple eventually does.” Applejack said encouragingly to Kyle. “Yeah, one problem, I’m not an Apple.” Kyle said sarcastically. “Maybe not genealogically. But inside ya, you’re an Apple to the core. And that’s mostly what’s important.” “AJ, that’s the fourth time you’ve told me that just today,” Kyle slyly looks off to the side, “And I’ll admit, it stills gets me every time." “Uh huh. An Apple to the core. Now stop lyin' around and get back to work. We’ve still got a solid four hours of daylight left." Kyle uses both his front hooves to help prop himself back up, soon once again standing on all fours, then he walks on over to the nearest apple tree that hasn't been bucked yet. “Say AJ, I just wanna say... your honesty helps makes me be a better pony. I know I don’t usually tell anypony else this, mainly ‘cause everypony figures I’m this perfect pony, what’s with being an alicorn and all that..., I’m getting off track here. In other words, thank you.” Hearing this, a smile and a tear comes over Applejack’s face. “But enough of me. Back to bucking!” > The Fabulous, Generous Life > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- After spending the whole day yesterday helping buck apples with the Apple family, Kyle would decide to spend the day today with (grown-up) Rarity. Rarity’s usually laid back (sometimes) so maybe they’ll spend today at the spa, hopefully. Or maybe for today, and today only, they’ll be a liquidation sale at one of Rarity’s favorite clothing store. “Hey Rares, I know you like fashion and all that..., but did ya really have to almost buy out the whole store?!” Kyle asks right as him and Rarity leave the store. A whole bunch of carefully wrapped gift bags all piled up on Kyle’s back. “I know today was supposed to be your ‘relaxation’ day, but I just had to shop for one last time at my favorite store. I’m sure you know what I mean.” “Yeah... I don’t know what you mean.” Kyle says seriously before livening up a bit, bursting into laughter. Rarity smiles proudly at her laughing alicorn friend. “So after we drop off all these bags, what ya wanna do next?” Kyle asks, not forgetting that he still has a whole bunch of carefully wrapped gift bags all piled up on his back. “Yes. Speaking of those...” Rarity uses her magic to lift every last one of the carefully wrapped gift bags off of Kyle’s back and into the air, seconds later teleporting (*poofing*) them all to her boutique. “So, what now?” Rarity playfully asks. “Ya know, I would’ve really appreciated that from the beginning.” Kyle says before showing a small smile. “But thanks anyway.” Rarity gives him a smile before the two walk over to the Ponyville Day Spa for some well deserved TLC. “I don’t usually say this, but this pony enjoys the occasional spa time. I know you understand.” Kyle says as him and Rarity both walk in through the door. “Oh, I know. Someponies just need a day of relaxation.” Rarity says back. The two ponies begin their relaxation by covering themselves up in towels of white eggshell color, then both going into the steam room. “Aaahhh. Now this is relaxing.” Kyle says as he lays back on a wooden bench, floating a small hand towel on his face, taking in all the steam. (Two Hours Later) “Why didn’t you tell me there’s a time limit for how long one pony can be in the steam room?!” Kyle asks... well anypony who can give him an answer as Rarity safely escorts him out of the steam room, a whole line of ponies outside the steam room’s door watching the all pruny pony leave. “Well, at least you got to do some relaxing.” Rarity says, trying to find the positive in this situation. “Yeah yeah,” Kyle looks over Rarity, a big, pruny smile coming over his pruny face, “It may just be my pruny eyes, but you look the most fabulous today. As you do everyday. Oh I...” Kyle says a little awkwardly (more like a lot awkwardly). “What I mean to say is... thanks for being the most generous, fabulous mare of Ponyville. Not like there’s nopony else like that. Everypony can be as generous and fabulous as you! I, uh...-“ “I know. No need for reminders.” > The Loyal Life > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "That’s five in a row. I win again!” Rainbow Dash (Grownup) rejoices as she had just for the fifth time crossed the finish line. “No... fair... I, you... uggghh.” Kyle, as drained of energy as a pony can be, says as he just so barely crosses the finish line, his wings flapping also being completely drained. To explain, Kyle had asked Rainbow Dash if she would be willing to help give him some flying lessons. And Kyle thought it’ll be a good idea if they had a little race to help him with his flying. And well, it kind of worked. Kind of. “One more. One more race. I can- ow!” Kyle says right as he feels his wings wrinkle in pain. “Come on. I can go once more.“ Kyle says as he massages his bruised wings. “Once. More.” Kyle shows a grin. A grin of pain. Rainbow flies right beside Kyle, placing both hooves around him to carry Kyle over to the closet cloud, laying him down on it. “I could’ve done that myself! I could have- ow!” Kyle gets interrupted by more pain. “I know you could have. But arrogance isn’t really your thing. Which is surprising.” Rainbow Dash says to Kyle. “Yeah well. Kind of hard to be arrogant when I’m not, well, like you.” Kyle compliments Rainbow, still massaging his wings. “Thanks. Though I wouldn’t be the pony I am today if it wasn’t for me being loyal to my friends. Sure, there have been times where I’ve forgotten all of what I’m about, but I always make up for it in the end.” “I know, and you are super awesome. That’s why I had a full size poster of you in your Wonderbolts attire hanging on the ceiling above my bed.” “What?” “What.” Kyle blushes an embarrassing deep shade of red. “Uh... you're the most loyalest of ponies.” Kyle smiles cheesily. > The Kind Life > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- “So Fluttershy, I see ya aren’t busy. Wanna hang out?!” “Oh uh, sure. Just give me a minute to finish up what I’m doing.” (One Hour Later) “I thought you said ya weren’t busy?” Kyle sassily asks Fluttershy, who had just finished reading to all of the animals. After she had to feed them. And give them all each a soothing bath. “Well I wasn’t. I guessed I just forgotten I had to bathe them,” Fluttershy answers back right after finishing up tucking in the last animal in its' bed, “Then I remembered I also had to feed them, then tucked them all up in their nice, cozy beds for their nice, cozy slumber and...” Fluttershy looks to see that Kyle’s not following, staring at her angrily, with a raised eyebrow. “Well um, what do you wanna do together?” Fluttershy asks, smiling cheerily. Kyle drops his stare. “Well, the sun seems to be setting. So not a whole lot we can do now.” “Well, that doesn’t mean anything. Why, tonight’s the night of the full moon.” “Uh huh. And why do you suggest that?” Fluttershy giggles to herself. “Oh, you’ll see.” *** “I still don’t see, or know, why we’re here.” Kyle asks Fluttershy as the two of them walk throughout the west orchard of Sweet Apple Acres in the pitch black of night. “Oh, you’ll see soon enough.” Fluttershy answers back. After about five minutes of walking, Kyle speaks up: “Aight. I wanna know why we’re here. Right NOW- ow!” Kyle gets interrupted as the brightness of the full moon blinds him. “I need to talk to that pony," Kyle says begrudgingly, holding a hoof up to his face to shield his eyes from the moon's bright light, “Speaking of which, where did she go?” Kyle finally realizes that Fluttershy is nowhere to be found. “This is weird.” Kyle spends the next ten minutes walking around aimlessly in the west orchard, looking for Fluttershy. While he does so, overhead, among the treetops, a dark figure glides along the apple treetops, the figure settling on a tree branch once it sees Kyle. “Fluttershy...! Ya here...?! I got an animal problem for you...!” Kyle yells out. Just then does Kyle notice something behind him. Turning his head back behind him to see that hanging upside down on a far tree branch is some weird creature. As Kyle moves to take a closer look does the full moon’s bright shining light shine on it, revealing the creature is none other than Flutterbat herself. “Uh...” Flutterbat hisses once she sees the sight of Kyle, spreading her wings out to the most they can go. Kyle gulps just at the sight of her, looking as scared as ever. “Aaahhh!!!” “ThishasbeenfunnowbutIthinknowIshouldleavekbye!!” Kyle says scared as ever, running off to back the way he came. After running around in circles all throughout the west orchard for the last twenty minutes, Kyle finally gets the bright idea and decides to make a run for it out of the orchard. Running as fast as he can, Kyle soon enough sees the orchard's exit. Though, as he sees the edge of the orchard also does Flutterbat swoop down and block his path. Seeing this, Kyle just plops down on the ground, scaredly holding himself, rightfully shaking in fear. “Oh.” Fluttershy (or Flutterbat) looks on at the scared pony concerningly. “I’m awfully sorry if I scared you. I just get ‘carried away’ once in a while.” Kyle stops being scared as soon as Fluttershy (or Flutterbat) speaks to him, getting himself up off the ground, trying to return to his normal state (though, internally still feeling a little scared). “I probably should’ve told you. Every night of the fifth day of the month, I come here. Why? I’ll show ya.” Fluttershy/bat tells Kyle before abruptly grabbing his hoof, not letting him ask anything, as she flies up into the cool, nighttime Sweet Apple Acres air. Kyle making sure to definitely hold on tight with his hoof. After a minute or so of flying, Fluttershy/bat had taken Kyle over to the Sweet Apple Acres' Fruitbat Sanctuary. More specifically, the nursery part of the sanctuary. “You know that I could’ve flown myself now, didn’t ya? Kyle asks, though to no reply from Fluttershy/bat, as he sees her make her way over to a nest of baby vampire fruitbats. “So uh, do you come here often?” Kyle asks questioningly, this time getting Fluttershy/bat’s attention as she cradles one of the fruitbats. “Not that often. Only on the first night of a full moon. You understand, right?” “I guess... You really come here every time there’s a full moon?” “Yea... yes.” Fluttershy/bat says muffled due to a whole lot of vampire fruitbats all holding on tight to her. “So let me get this straight. Every time there’s a full moon, you come out here as your ‘vampire fruitbat’ self, all just to take care of the younglings?” “I guess. I’m just being kind. I know their mommas and papas are all too busy to take extra, special care of them. So, that’s where I fit in.” Fluttershy/bat tells Kyle of her kindness ways. “Huh, I see.” Kyle thinks for a second before showing a bright, small smile. “Maybe I’ll try a little kindness too.” Kyle says to himself as he walks on over to Fluttershy/bat to lend her a hand. > The Life of Laughs > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- For today, Kyle agreed (and by agreed, he shook his head ‘yes’ a couple times) to go to Sugarcube Corner today and help Pinkie Pie (Grownup Pinkie Pie) with a cupcake order. “Aight. I’m here, and ready to-“ Kyle interrupts himself as right as he walks in through the doorway does he see a whole bunch of ‘Sugarcube Corner’ brand cupcake boxes all piled up on top of each other, all throughout the shop’s front. “Woah! I didn’t expect all this!” Kyle, unknowingly, for no reason really, shouts out loud. “Uh huh. Me neither.” Kyle hears a voice behind him, looking back to see that Pinkie Pie is somehow there, behind him. “Pinkie Pie?! What is all this?!” Kyle asks, motioning his hoof at all the cupcake filled boxes, still for no reason shouting. “Oh. You mean all these?!” Pinkie saying excitedly, motioning both front hooves at all the boxes. “These are all part of the order you’re helping me with. And I hoped you don’t mind, but I’ve already started. Seventy-five down, one hundred twenty-five to go!” Pinkie squees at what she’d just said. “Only a hundred and twenty-five to go! What pony needs-“ Kyle stops himself to count, using his wingtips, the overall total of cupcakes. “Exactly two hundred cupcakes?!” “Um, I don’t know. I just got a note from an 'anonymous' pony saying that they need two hundred cupcakes.” “And you received this note when...?” “Exactly twelve hours, forty minutes and five seconds ago. No wait, twelve hours, forty minutes and six seconds. Now forty minutes and seven seconds!” Pinkie gives a squee again. “But twelve hours ago-“ “And forty minutes and ten seconds ago.” Pinkie interjects. “That would’ve been during the evening. How in the wide, wide world of Equestria did ya make seventy-five cupcakes in such a short time?!” Pinkie just simply strugs at Kyle’s question. *** “So, now that we know how much we have left to bake, let’s get started!” Pinkie says enthusiastically, putting on her chef’s hat onto her poofy, pink mane. “You remembered to bring your own chef’s hat from home, did ya?” “Now that,” Kyle takes off his snapback cap hat with a wing to reveal under it his very own chef’s hat, “Is what I didn’t forget.” Kyle says confidently. “Well, now that that’s settled. Let’s get baking!! You make the batter, I pour it in the pan and put it in the oven. With the two of us, we’ll for sure get done nine hours from now!” “Nine hours?!” Kyle for some reason again shouts out loud. “And when does this order have to be ready by?!” “Twelve hours from now!” 'This is gonna be a long day.' *** “Well, one hundred cupcakes down, twenty-five to go. Good news is, the rate we’re going, we’ll have a modest five hours to spare. Enough time for us to do something else.” Kyle positively states, him and Pinkie having just spent the last five hours straight baking cupcakes. “Mmhm. And maybe once we’re done, we can talk about your mini crush on Rarity.” Pinkie jokingly says, smiling. Though It didn't sound like much of a joke to Kyle, the pony’s face fully red in embarrassment. “Just kidding.” “Oh.” A great deal of relief coming over Kyle. “Though you really should think before you say things. Especially when you're mentioning of how you had a Rainbow Dash poster hung up above your bed.” Pinkie jokingly says. Kyle still didn't see the ‘funny’ in the joke, scowling at Pinkie. “Oops, sorry. Here, have a cupcake to say ‘I’m sorry’.” Pinkie sincerely offers, offering a cupcake as an apology, taking a just freshly made cupcake from the pan. “Oh, Aight. I guess. I can’t be mad at you, of all ponies.” said Kyle, grabbing the cupcake and taking a big bite out of it. “You know what now. Now we’ve got twenty-six cupcakes to bake.” Kyle and Pinkie both burst out in laughter altogether. Laughing at how they’ve now got twenty-six cupcakes to bake, instead of the twenty-five from earlier. After a solid minute of laughing, Kyle decides to ask Pinkie a ‘serious’ question: “Hey Pinkie, I know this is a dumb question but, we’re friends, right? Again, it’s a dumb question ‘cause well, everypony is your friend. I uh, just need clarification. I guess-“ Pinkie interrupts Kyle by placing a hoof to his mouth. “Of course we are. Why do you think you need "clarification” from me?” Pinkie removes her hoof from Kyle’s mouth, letting him speak once more. “Well I, I've been thinking a lot lately of who my actual friends are. You see, growing up, I always thought I had friends just like everypony else. But I guess, over time, it turned out they weren’t actually my friends.” “Friendship was always something I thought I didn’t need to worry about ‘cause I already had it. And well, let’s just say, the past few moons have really got me thinking.” A thought occurs to Kyle, making him smile big. “Ever since I first met you and your friends, they’ve shown nothin’ but true friendship towards me. And I can say, ever since then, I’ve started to become the pony I wanna be. You six truly help make me feel ‘better’ about myself.” Kyle’s smile grows even bigger. “Aw shucks. And you bring a smile to each and every one of our faces.” Pinkie herself smiles too. “Well, now that that’s off my chest,” Kyle pats down on his chef’s hat with a hoof, “May we continue?” “Sure! Just one question though.” Pinkie joyously asks, Kyle looking at her a little suspiciously. “Do you, or do you not, know that the cupcakes are done baking and they are right now becoming way over baked?” Both ponies burst out in laughter, the two having a friendship moment. > The Magical Life > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Say Princess, or Twilight, whatever you casually go by now. It’s nice you invited me. One question though, why did you invite me to the Royal Tea Time Extravaganza?” “Well I, you see. Okay look, the annual Royal Tea Time Extravaganza requires all ponies with royal status to attend. And you, if ya forgot, are royalty.” “Ooohh. I still don’t get it.” “Look. This is a royal gathering. Just, go stand in the corner over there," Twilight points a hoof towards the nearest corner, “If you don’t know what to do. Or you get bored slash you’re too shy to talk with every other creature!" “Okay. One other question though, who or what is attending this extravaganza?” Twilight’s about to speak before one of the royal servants runs up frantically to her. “Princess... your Highness, the guests from the Diamond Dog kingdom have arrived." Both Kyle and Princess Twilight can hear in the other room all sorts of barking. “You stay here now. I’ll be back with the whole company of Diamond Dog royalty. No pressure!” Princess Twilight saying the last part like her normal ‘Twilighting’ self. Kyle nodding his head in agreement. *** “So, you are a royal servant from the Diamond Dog kingdom. My name’s Kyle, nice to meet ya.” Kyle said, friendly like, holding his hoof out for a hoof (or paw) shake. Though the diamond dog he’s speaking to appeared to not understand a single word he just said, as the diamond dog is just staring at him, cross-eyed, panting with its tongue out. “Okay. Nice to meet ya too.” The pony and diamond dog spend the next five minutes in silence, both aimlessly staring at one another. “Uh, Prince Kyle?” Royal Guard Gallus asks, hoping to break whatever Kyle and the diamond dog royal servant are doing. “Prince Kyle? Kyle? Look this way!!” Gallus bursts out loud the last part, not realizing that everyone right close to the three of them all heard him. “Huh? Oh hey Gallus. What’re you doing here in Canterlot?” Kyle asks the griffin after finally getting his attention. “Ahem,” Gallus coughs purposefully, moving closer to whisper something in his ear, “This scroll is for you. It’s from somepony you know.” “Somepony I know?” Kyle whispers back, taking the scroll from Gallus, then watching the griffin fly away. “Somepony I know.” Kyle says to himself before opening up the scroll, reading as it says: Dear Kyle, It’s me! You're old friend. From middle school. Listen, I know of how I treated you during that time. If ya wanna meet up, I’ll be at Pony Joe’s tonight 'til closing. If ya wanna meet up, then see ya later tonight, if not, I guess I understand. Your Old Friend, Richard “Huh? Well I’ll be...” Kyle says to himself after reading the scroll sent to him from an old friend of long ago. Richard eh? I think I remember him, I think. He was that one who sat with me at lunch during middle school. We always used to talk the latest in motorsports. I didn’t really think we were that close. I mean, we did race our motorbikes almost every weekend. Plus there was that one time. Oh yeah. THAT time. Oh boy, what a time. Why, I still have the bruises on my hind corners. Kyle giggles to himself, thinking of all the stuff him and his long ago buddy Richard did during their middle school years. “Hey! Whatcha giggling to yourself for?” Princess Twilight asks Kyle as she flies over to him. Kyle finishes up his giggling to reply back. “Oh, it’s nothing. It’s stupid, actually. Why, ya had to have been there!” “Inside joke, right. I know all about that experience.” Princess Twilight pouts out. “It’s- it’s nothing. Well it is something ‘cause I just received a letter from an old friend of mine. He asks if I wanna maybe meet up with him.” Kyle explains to the Princess, levitating the letter over to her so she can read it for herself. “Really. Well, do you remember at all of your guys’ friendship? Were you the best of friends, or the worst. Or somewhere in between?” Princess Twilight asks Kyle after taking a quick peek at his letter. “Uh, I’m not actually really sure. Aside from the usual weekends/lunchtime, we weren’t really that much in the way of friends. We were more... well knowned acquaintances.” “Okay. Well, if you wanna go, you can. I won’t stand in the way.” Princess Twilight replies back. “Won’t stand in the way? But you're, like, the 'Princess of Friendship'. Aren’t ya supposed to tell me of what I should do, and how I should do it?” Kyle asks sarcastically. “Normally I would. But as I’ve learned over the years, one single friendship between two different creatures is unique. Not one solution I could give can help you. I can advise you on what you can do, but still, only you can make things right.” “Plus after this, I got a very long and possibly unexciting two hour meeting with royalty of the Diamond Dog kingdom.” “Oh,” Kyle thinks to himself for a second, “On second thought, sure. Why not. I’ll go and see him. Plus, he stills owes me for that one time.” “I’m not gonna ask what that one time was. Good luck with your friend.” Princess Twilight wishes upon Kyle as she flies back over to where she was before. “Okay, I will!” Kyle shouts back at the Princess, getting everycreature’s attention (except for from that same diamond dog from earlier). “Oh, and thank you! You’re a good friend, and your friendship guidance helps make me a better pony!!” Princess Twilight turns around and gives a big smile towards Kyle. Kyle returning the favor with a big smile of his own. *** (25 Years (Or Moons) Later) “And that, is how I knew Princess Twilight Sparkle and her friends. The end.” Prince Kyle finishes telling the twenty young fillies all around him at the School of Friendship his story of how he knew Princess Twilight and her friends, plus the rest of his life story. “Yeah right. You of all ponies actually knew the six most important ponies of the last century. What a farce.” One of the fillies listening, a white colored, orange haired male unicorn, rudely heckled. “Well, I thought it was sweet,” The teal colored, purple haired female earth pony says sweetly, “Especially the parts where he mentions his problematic love life.” Kyle’s smile disappears, going to a concerned look. “Oh. Well I-“ “Alright you guys, that’s it for now. You better get back to class before your teachers start getting worried. Especially Trixie.” Headmare Starlight saying that last part more quietly, after telling all of the students gathered around Kyle to get back to their classrooms. “Ugh! Finally. That story was so the worst.” “Hmmphm.” Nearly everyone else (besides that earth pony mare from before) nodding their heads in approval as they all leave as one big group. “Uh... sorry about that. If I would’ve known of how they would react before, then I-“ “It’s no problem. Not everypony will get my story.” Kyle interrupts Starlight as he watches all of the students walk away, having his attention more on that one particular earth pony from before. Seeing her look back towards him, seeing her smiling hopefully at him. “Yeah. Plus besides, I’d prob do the same thing if I was their age again.” “Okay. Anywho, I should get going. Sorry I won’t be able to accompany you to the train station. Work is just so busy now this time of year.” “Oh, it’s no prob. Plus, I got one more item of business to take care of.” Kyle says as Headmare Starlight walks away from him and back to her office. *** (Later That Afternoon) “So, Rose Streaks, you look exceedingly lovely tonight.” “Ya know you don’t have to keep saying that? Plus, we’re here.” Kyle’s old friend, Richard, tells him. Kyle kept saying that to not only himself but Richard for the whole walk over to the restaurant. “I do. Oh, how could I not have known! How could I not possibly think of my actions!! I-“ *slap* “Kyle,” Richard stops Kyle’s nervous rambling with a slap on the cheek with a hoof, “You’re acting weird again. Unlike every other time.” Richard mumbling the last part to himself. “I know. I just really want this evening all over with. With a new girlfriend mind you. But what if she doesn’t have that much interest in me? What if-“ Kyle interrupts himself as a thought had just occurred to him. Kyle thinking of everything that he had went through up to this moment. Thinking back to the day when he (almost) jumped Principal Clover’s cart, and how Rose Streaks was there to see it. Then thinking back to that summer where he met the Mane Six, going along with them as a fellow staff member at the School of Friendship. Of all the ponies (and creatures) of whom he’d met while there. Of all the interactions he had with everycreature. Only for it all to end very badly for him, as Rose Streaks broke to him the news of her moving away. How heartbroken Kyle was. It was a dark time for him then. But then, those same six ponies from before came to him and made Kyle feel something. Remembering how the six of them called Kyle their friend truly changed his life, mentally and physically (‘cause of the alicorn wings he received later on). The coronation of Kyle’s role into Equestrian royalty happened next, then there was saving every creature from certain star falling destruction doom. That summer was sure something. And even though Twilight and the rest of the Mane Six aren’t always gonna be there for him, Kyle’s made other friends that truly care about him. Like Principal Clover, Rose Streaks, Ryan, and now Richard, of whom the two are now officially best friends. Who knows, maybe if Kyle never actually met Twilight that one time in the town square of Ponyville, and her not giving him the idea to storm Area 57, his life would be different. “You know what, I got this.” The End
