Nightmare Moon gets Angry with Herself
Nightmare Moon watched from the window of Everfree Castle, the small town Ponyville in the distance with an evil smile. She couldn’t help thinking that these ponies were nothing more than impudent foals. They should probably think that she ceased to exist just because she was no longer in Luna’s body. Ah, how wrong they were. VERY wrong! Just because Nightmare Moon was hit by the Elements of Harmony by the six mares, it didn’t mean that she died. In fact, she was separated from Luna and now lived in the Castle of the Two Sisters, just thinking of a way to get revenge on Celestia.
But so far, no idea of revenge was on her mind. I mean, she already thought about going to the castle, fighting Celestia and then taking the throne and making the night eternal, but it was very likely that the six mares would go there to defeat her with the elements, and she didn’t wanted that that to happen and I also didn’t want to be defeated for the third time by those foolish elements.
Nightmare Moon stepped away from the window and started walking in the dusty halls of the castle. How could she take revenge on Celestia without the intervention of the bearers of the Elements of Harmony? She might be able to go to the castle to look for the Elements to destroy them, but she had a problem: the castle where Celestia lived, must be full of royal guards and they would probably warn that damn sun-loving princess that she has returned! As much as she liked to get the attention of the ponies, she didn’t want to get the attention of Celestia’s guards, she wanted to be discreet. Nightmare Moon already had in mind what she would do: first she would battle against Celestia in the throne room, and then, she would destroy the elements.
She looked to her left side and saw a large door, which led to the library. Maybe, just maybe, she could search these dusty old books for a book on something that might help her. Nightmare Moon spread its wings and flew to the shelves full of books and started picking up all the books to read.
But when she took out one of the books, she saw a possible button, curious she touched it, and a small door opened, revealing a book all dusty and full of cobwebs. She was both curious and confused at the same time. Was there a dusty book right at the bottom of the shelf? Curious, she took it with her magic and read the title of the book.
”The Legend of the Mirrored Pool.”
Nightmare Moon raised an eyebrow confusedly by the book’s title. Mirrored pool? What was that? Was it the kind of pool he had at Canterlot Castle? She put all the books on the table, but what she intended to read was what spoke of a pool that transmitted reflection and opened to read.
“The mirrored pool - The mirrored pool is a pool that is hidden in a hole within the Everfree Forest. They say that this pool is capable of making clones of the pony that speak the following sentence: and in the reflection itself she faced, and the reflection she shared, and promised not to be scared by the chance of becoming two. ”
Nightmare Moon closed the book and began to reflect on what she just read. So this pool was able to make clones, but for that the pony needed to say that sentence that was written in the book? She soon smiled wickedly. What a perfect opportunity for her to take revenge on Celestia! She could use her own copy to distract the guards as she went to the throne room to destroy Celestia, and then she would break the elements, and after she won, she would destroy her copy, since it couldn’t have two of her ruling Equestria, could?
The black alicorn spread its wings and flew out of the library window. Upon reaching the sky, she began to look down intently, looking for the big hole. As she flew, she felt the light breeze in her and in the mane, but she also started to memorize the sentence she had to say to be able to clone herself in the pool.
Until she found the hole, she landed on the ground and folded her wings. She soon looked down the hole and saw that it had a straight path that led down. She then went inside without any fear. Nightmare Moon noticed that the walls were blue and the path too, but more clearly, she started to recap her plan: she would clone herself, she would explain her plan to the clone, they would fly to the castle, and when they got there , she would go looking for Celestia, after that, she would destroy the elements while her other self would distract Celestia’s guards, take the throne, cause eternal night, and finally, destroy her clone. She couldn’t help but agree that her plan was great! There was no way to go wrong!
Nightmare Moon looked ahead and saw the mirrored pool far away from her. When she got very close she started to speak while looking at her reflection, “and by the reflection she looked at, by the reflection she shared and promised not to be scared by the possibility of becoming two.”
Then, a clone of her came out of the mirrored pool. Nightmare Moon couldn’t help, but smile at the result! She managed to make a clone! She had to laugh at that.
“Hahahaha! I did it! I made a clone of myself! And now, I will be able to go to the castle to get revenge on Celestia, and the night will last forever!” Nightmare Moon celebrated.
“Eternal night!” said Nightmare Moon cheerfully.
“Yes I know. The night will last forever!” Nightmare Moon did not stop smiling and agreeing with her own sentence.
“Eternal night! Eternal night!” Nightmare Moon then started to run everywhere as she continued to say “eternal night.”
Nightmare Moon realize that the clone was so excited to make the night last forever, this was strange, since she is not to be happy so often, but she wasn’t going to let that stop her or irritate her. “Look, I know you’re excited to make the night eternal, but ...”
Nightmare Moon looked at Nightmare Moon animatedly over a high place. “Did somepony say eternal night? Where?”
“I said it; right here,” Nightmare Moon replied with a raised hoof.
The copy returned to Nightmare Moon flying and began to search all sides of the cave in search of the eternal night. “Did you say eternal night? Where’s the eternal night? On here? On here? I’m not seeing!”
Nightmare Moon did not imagine that she could be so cheerful, even if this is just a clone of her, and it started to make her angry inside, as it started to remind her of Celestia’s cheerful and outgoing way. “... soon there will be an eternal night. But for that, we need to go to Canterlot to destroy Celestia, and then, the Elements of Harmony.”
Nightmare Moon started walking towards the exit. Nightmare Moon’s clone stopped what she was doing and looked at Nightmare Moon with a confused expression.
Nightmare Moon looked back and saw her clone’s confused expression as she stood there. She sighed, knowing there was only one way to make her copy move. “... and yes, the night will be eternal,” that said, she started walking again while her copy continued to speak “eternal night” happily.
Upon arriving at the castle, they landed in a bush and saw that they had two royal guards guarding the castle’s entrance. Nightmare Moon looked at herself, but also known as a clone, to explain what they should do next. “We are going to enter through the castle entrance, you go first to distract the guards while I go to the throne room to battle with Celestia.”
“And then?” asked Nightmare Moon with a smile.
Nightmare Moon was relieved that her copy said something other than the word “eternal night,” she soon replied. “Then, I will look for the elements to break them, and the night will be eternal!” she ended with a mean smile.
“Eternal night! Eternal night!” said Nightmare Moon, all excited.
Nightmare Moon’s smile fell as she started to feel a headache so much that the clone spoke that word. The alicorn black was starting to get even more irritated by the cheerful and childlike behavior of her copy, at first, she thought she could take her copy, but she was starting to lose her cool and patience. “Ok I got it. I understand that you’re excited for the night to be eternal, so am I. Now, go and distract them.”
Nightmare Moon agreed, turned into a fog and flew quickly into the castle. The guards noticed her and went after her. “It’s Nightmare Moon! Behind her! Don’t let her get away!”
What they didn't know, was that actually, that Nightmare Moon was a clone, and that the true Nightmare Moon has now entered the castle. She started looking for Celestia. The good thing about her being alone now, is that she can have time for herself. The silence in the corridors, made her calmer, it was a pity that she still had a headache. Of course, the clone reminded her of Pinkie Pie, after all, that clone of hers spoke and irritated much like Pinkie. She couldn’t wait to destroy her clone after she managed to make the night eternal, so that she could rule Equestria without any clones to irritate her for twenty four hours a day.
After a few minutes in the great hall, she finally managed to find the door that led to the throne room. The door was heavy and golden in color. She didn’t like the color of the door, but she soon smiled, thankfully that after her victory she would redecorate the castle to her taste. She then opened the door with her magic.
“I returned, Celestia. Ready to watch the sun go down and the moon and stars to be in the sky forever?” said Nightmare Moon as she entered the room with an evil smile, but her smile soon fell when she saw her clone in the room playing checkers with Celestia sitting on the red carpet, Celestia had the white pieces and Nightmare Moon had the pieces black.
Nightmare Moon was nothing more than confused and incredulous at what she was witnessing now. Why was her clone here? She must distract Celestia’s royal guards! And not keeping company to Celestia! She approached the two.
The two stopped what they were doing when they heard the sound of footsteps, they looked at the place where the sound saw and realized that the one approaching was another Nightmare Moon, but with a not at all happy expression.
“What are you doing here?” she asked at her clone in an unhappy tone.
“I’m distracting Celestia,” Nightmare Moon replied with a smile.
Nightmare Moon gave a facehoof with what she just heard from herself. No ... it can’t be ... besides her clone being cheerful and outgoing just like Celestia, she was also deaf!
“I didn’t tell you to distract Celestia! I told you to distract the royal guards!” shouted Nightmare Moon angrily.
“Actually, I already distracted them, they even got lost in the castle. I am now playing checkers to distract Celestia from her real duties since she was doing nothing here.” Nightmare Moon explained, still with a smile.
“But you mustn’t do that! She is our number one enemy!” Nightmare Moon explained to her clone. “Our mission is to destroy her and the elements, take the throne and make the night last forever!”
Nightmare Moon soon got up from the floor while smiling happily. “Eternal night! Eternal night!”
Nightmare Moon’s cheeks swelled as it turned red with rage while the other Nightmare Moon continued to repeat the same word, until her patience and calm ran out.
“Enough!!” Nightmare Moon screamed as she cast a damage spell on her clone. Nightmare Moon screamed in pain while her eyes were closed and fell to the floor.
Celestia looked at the clone lying on the floor before looking at Nightmare Moon, not happy. “Nightmare Moon! Why did you destroy your own clone? She was so lively and cheerful, and on top of that, she and I were having so much fun playing checkers.”
“I destroyed my copy because she was irritating me a lot, and on top of that she only spoke eternal night with every sentence,” Nightmare Moon replied, now more calmly.
“So ... now that you’re here, are you going to fight me?” asked Celestia as she raised an eyebrow and front hoof in a confused way.
“Before, I came here for that, but because of my copy only speak eternal night, it kind of made me suffer from the mirrored pool to here, I got a headache, and because of that, I will leave my revenge for another day,” Nightmare Moon replied, before going to Celestia and glaring at the sun princess while placing a hoof on Celestia’s chest. “You may have been lucky today Celestia, but when you least expect it, I will return here and I will destroy you and the elements too, and then, the night ... will last ... forever!”
That said, she started laughing wildly as she turned a dark blue mist and flew out the window. Celestia just watched her go.
After Nightmare Moon left her sight, Celestia looked at the checkers pieces in the board and the Nightmare Moon clone that were on the floor and began to reflect in a confused way.
What in the tartarus has just happened?
