> Legend of Zelda: Equestria > by Robert Emerald Fountain > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > The Mysterious Darkness > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- One day in Equestria, Celestia and Luna were holding the daily court session when the sky suddenly turned dark in a split-second. Luna looked outside and heard terrified screams as strange creatures appeared out of thin air. They seemed to be using weapons charged with a powerful dark energy. Before Celestia could resume the session, Twilight's friends came rushing into the room with Twilight unconscious and being carried by Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash. Celestia held back tears when she saw that her star student had burns on her skin and had a cut on her flank. Luna gagged when she noticed a narrow stream of blood run from between Twilight's lips. "What happened to Twilight," Celestia choked. Starlight explained that while Twilight was acquainting Neighsay with the students from other races, they were hit by an energy blast that knocked them out. Twilight woke up and tried to fight the being that had used the energy, but she only got injured and knocked out again in doing so. Then Neighsay tried to fight back, but the entity had stolen his medallion and used it to teleport him somewhere far from Ponyville. The entity smashed the medallion into four pieces and sent the center piece through the portal to where Neighsay was. The three outer parts were scattered around the world. Celestia had Twilight taken to the hospital to be cared for, but the doctor said she was slowly and painfully dying. Luna used her magic to find the cause and determined that the entity had gone inside her and had poisoned her. Panicking and worrying that Twilight would die, Celestia used her magic to send a call for help. She did not know that someone would be getting it soon. > Summoned by Zelda > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- One quiet evening in Ordon Village... Link had just turned Epona over to Ilia so she could be washed after helping out on the ranch. He had just climbed the ladder to his front door when he heard someone call his name. "Mr. Link!" Link turned around. It was the postman. Link climbed down to talk. "Good evening, what brings you to my hometown," he asked the postman. "I have a scroll for you from Princess Zelda herself. She says it's an emergency," the postman replied as he pulled out a scroll with a royal seal before leaving to deliver other mail. Link took the scroll and broke Zelda's seal. He was startled when he read the message. "Link, I need you to come to the castle as fast as you can. Bring Epona and all of the weapons and armor you had collected from when you lifted the twilight away from Hyrule. I have an urgent mission for you. Please hurry. Signed, Princess Zelda." Link was shocked to receive a message like this on such short notice, but without hesitating, he changed clothes. First he put on a white shirt and put his chain mail over it, and then put on long pants and wool socks. He then put on his green tunic and boots. After putting on his hat, belts, and gloves, he grabbed his Hylian Shield and his horse whistle that Ilia made for Epona. He hurried to Ordon Ranch to tell Fado that he had been summoned by the princess. He then went back to his house and grabbed his tools. These included his Gale Boomerang, Iron Boots, bow and arrows, bombs, double clawshots, spinner, and his ball and chain. He also grabbed his fishing rod in case he wanted to catch fish for food. He then grabbed the bottles he had collected from his last adventure. They were still filled with bee larvae for fishing, potions, lantern oil, captured fairies, and saved soup. After grabbing his last bottle, he saw it was empty and filled it with some of the soup he had just made with the recipe that he got from Yeto at Snowpeak. He then grabbed his Zora Armor and his Magic Armor before heading outside and going to get Epona. > Going to the castle and beginning the quest > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Link walked up to Ilia and greeted her upon arrival at Epona's spring. "Good evening Link, need her so soon," Ilia answered alarmingly. "Her Majesty Princess Zelda has summoned me to the castle. I could get there faster with Epona," Link answered. Ilia understood that this meant Link would most likely be gone for a while. She patted Epona's muzzle and told her to take care of Link. Epona let out a *NEIGH* as a way of saying "Yes". Link mounted his mare and began riding through the woods. He stopped short near the forest temple to enter the Sacred Grove. Reaching the place he was looking for, he wrapped his fingers around the hilt of the Master Sword and pulled it from its pedestal. Returning to his horse, Link rode through Hyrule Field until he arrived in Castle Town. He rode into the courtyard of Hyrule Castle at last. He dismounted and hurried inside. After ascending a few staircases, he arrived in the throne room and knelt down on the carpet. He leaned his head down and put his left arm parallel to the floor while placing his right hand on the floor. "Rise Link," Zelda said quietly. Link stood back up and faced her. "What brings me to you, Your Majesty," he asked. "I have felt a disturbance in the peace in a faraway land. The light spirits brought my attention to what appears to be someone calling for help. This land seems to be filled with colorful talking horses and many other creatures, and is apparently called Equestria. The ruler of Equestria, a winged unicorn named Princess Celestia, has called out for help because of a dark force of energy that has ravaged the once peaceful lands, and injured someone who means a lot to her. I fear that this is the work of Ganondorf. I am not sure how he came back after you stabbed him, but he has possibly returned for revenge. I am sending you and Epona to restore the peace and take him down," Zelda explained. Link's face tightened into a snarl at the mention of Ganondorf. He drew the Master Sword and whipped the blade to point at the sky. Zelda took that as a "yes" and then led Link back to the courtyard where Epona was waiting. "Light Spirits, please bless Link on his dangerous quest that he may be kept safe and return home to Hyrule," Zelda called out in prayer. All four spirits materialized in the night sky and released bits of their power toward the ground. The orbs they released became light arrows that Link reached up and grabbed to put in his quiver. The spirits also bestowed another bit of power to serve as protection for him during his quest. After Link had fastened the buckles on Epona's saddlebags to avoid losing gear, Zelda put her hand up to create a portal that would take him and Epona to Equestria. "Before you go, I shall remind you that the ponies of Equestria speak english. So don't be alarmed if Epona is able to speak as well," Zelda said as Link mounted his horse. Link nodded and prepared to go forth. "Good Luck." "Thank you Your Highness", Link replied to Zelda with a smile. "HYAHH!!" he cried as he cracked the reins on Epona's saddle. Epona gave out a whinny and she began galloping towards the portal. When they entered the portal, they were blinded by the bright light that flashed around them. > Arriving in Equestria > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- After sending the mental call for help, Celestia felt herself being levitated by something using dark magic. She was suddenly teleported far from Canterlot and thrown to the ground hard. She was badly injured but could still see Canterlot in the distance. The same thing happened to Luna, Cadence, and Flurry Heart. As they slipped into a sleeping state, they saw a streak of light coming down from the night sky. "Is that streak possibly an answer to Celestia's distress call," they asked themselves. Link and Epona were falling face first through the air rapidly. When they saw water directly below, Epona shut her eyes and braced herself. Link had just finished putting on his Zora Armor when they splashed into Horseshoe Bay . He swam to the surface and set his belongings on shore. He then submerged again and swam down to his horse. Epona was struggling in the water, and could not see because her mane was plastered over her eyes. Luckily, she felt Link's hand grab her hoof and drag her up. Coming above the water, Link pulled the breathing mask off of his mouth and nose. Epona spat out a mouthful of saltwater before following Link to shore. "Thank you Link," she said calmly. "You're welcome." They dried off and began making their way across the land after Link put his green tunic back on. They ended up riding straight into a heavy rainstorm, and they could not see very far in front of them than just a few feet. They reached Canterlot after two hours, and Link lit his lantern. Putting the green lens around the flame to signify friendliness, he held the lantern high and the guard captain saw the light. The captain ordered the gates to be opened and Link rode into Canterlot. He and Epona began searching for Celestia, but were unable to find her. They later found Twilight's friends, and asked them where Celestia was. Starlight said that Celestia and her sister, Luna, were both teleported out of the castle and they ended up in faraway places. Applejack gave some of her apples so that Epona would have something to eat besides the carrots that Link had brought. Rarity gave Link a map of Equestria that was enchanted to show where the alicorns were. She also gave him a tent that she said was big enough for both him and Epona, along with a thick blanket and a warm coat in case he was in a wintery environment. Rainbow Dash gave him two pairs of goggles. "These are called "Rain Goggles". If it starts raining again, put these on both yourself and Epona. They repel water and will make it easy for you to see in stormy weather," Dash explained "Why are there four symbols on the map," Link asked Rarity. Rainbow told him that there were two more alicorns that had been teleported away from their kingdoms. They were Twilight's sister in-law, Princess Cadence, and Twilight's niece, Flurry Heart. Knowing this would not be an easy mission, Link mounted up and rode off to find the alicorns. > Finding Neighsay > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- As Link and Epona raced into the Everfree Forest, they spotted an injured stallion hanging unconscious in a tangle of vines. Link pulled out his Gale Boomerang and threw it hard. The strong force of wind ripped the vines clean off the trees and the stallion fell to the ground. The impact woke the stallion from his trance, and Link introduced himself. "My name is Link. I have been sent here to save your world." "My name is Neighsay. I am the chancellor of the Equestrian Education Association, or EEA. Twilight Sparkle was giving me a tour of her Friendship School, when we were suddenly attacked. Twilight was gravely wounded and my medallion was snatched. I was transported here and then the center part of my medallion appeared. I do not know where the other pieces are. If you could find them for me, I could possibly help you," replied the stallion. "I will do that, but first I need to find the four princesses that were taken from their kingdoms. Your land has been attacked by an evil entity from my world. He is extremely dangerous, and must be stopped. I will warp you back to Canterlot so you can recover from your injuries," Link replied. Link proceeded to create a portal to Canterlot and Neighsay jumped through. Link then mounted and continued to the center of the forest to search for Celestia. > Awakening Princess Celestia > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Link dismounted after reaching a massive tree in the forest and ventured through a door in the side. This tree was laid out very similar to the Forest Temple. As he warded off shadow beasts, he climbed higher and higher until he reached a hollow space just below the big limbs. There he saw Celestia lying unconscious in front of a hole. He looked out and saw Canterlot in the distance. Then, he heard Zelda's voice in his head. "In order to weaken Ganondorf, you must charge the princesses with the power of the light arrows. To do that, you must shoot them with the arrows." Pulling out his bow, Link nocked one of the light arrows. Drawing it back, he took aim and let the energized arrow fly. Celestia felt a sharp pain as the arrow jabbed her in the chest, but the pain subsided after five seconds and she felt the power rushing through her veins. Opening her eyes, she stood up and eyed Link. "Have you been sent to save Equestria?" "Yes I have. My name is Link. You must be Princess Celestia," Link replied as he knelt down. "Pleased to meet you Link. I am aware of what has happened to Neighsay. His medallion is what gives him his power. I wish you good luck with waking up the other princesses." After Celestia had determined her line of fire, she laid back down to rest. Link decided to shoot a bomb arrow as a signal when he was ready for the spirit power to be deployed. He mounted Epona and set off for Luna. > Awakening Princess Luna > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- As Link rode closer to where Luna had been sent, the sky grew darker as night fell on Equestria. He decided to set up camp so he would not be sleepy during the rest of the trip. After giving Epona an apple, he warmed some of his soup over a small fire and ate slowly before laying down to rest. The next morning, he was up bright and early. They reached the Galloping Gorge and Epona saw a section of the rock face with reflective surfaces in several spots that looked like they were magnetized. Putting on his iron boots, Link began scaling the slopes and confirmed that the reflective surfaces were indeed magnetic. Shadow beasts were in larger quantities here, but they were no match for the Master Sword, or Link's bow and arrows. He soon reached a ledge 300 feet above the ground, and spotted Luna. Repeating what he did with Celestia, he pulled back a light arrow and charged Luna with the energy. Luna woke up with a startle and thanked Link for coming to their aid. She tied a rope to a sturdy point on the ledge and Link rappelled to the ground. "I hope we can save Equestria before it's too late," Epona said worriedly. "I hope so too," Link replied. Link looked at the map and saw Cadence's cutie mark over the Dragon Lands. Without hesitating, he cracked the reins and Epona began dashing. > Awakening Princess Cadence > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- After reaching the Dragon Lands, Link saw a ledge near the peak of the volcano. He heard screams and used his hawk-eye to get a closer look. Cadence was chained to the rock and yelling for help. Link flashed his lantern to signal Cadence that he was coming. As he climbed the slopes, he avoided falling rocks and lava flows until he reached the underside of the ledge. Suddenly, Ember dropped down with a helmet on her head. "Foreigners are not welcome here," she hissed. Link drew his sword and fought Ember until he struck the top of the helmet and broke it off her head. Ember was left dazed and confused. Link quickly explained that the helmet she was wearing had altered her perception of reality and made him seem like an enemy. After Ember apologized, Link climbed on top of the ledge and unshackled Cadence. He then charged her with the third light arrow and explained why he had come. "I wish you good luck saving both Equestria and my sister in-law." Link nodded and made his way back down to Epona. Checking his map, he saw Flurry Heart's cutie mark near where the Tree of Harmony stood. Knowing that she was the last alicorn he had to give power to, he wasted no time getting going. They had just left the Dragon Lands when a torrential thunderstorm came out of nowhere. Link did not care if it was raining or not. He stayed focused heavily on his mission. Finding that it was getting harder to see, he proceeded to put the rain goggles that Rainbow Dash had given him over Epona's eyes. "Thank you for putting the goggles on me. I can see clearly in the rain now," Epona said cheerfully. They set off for the cave where the Tree of Harmony stood. The rain didn't show signs of letting up, so Link pulled out the tent that Rarity had given him after finding a dry area. He put the rain fly on and led Epona inside so they could dry off. "Rarity was right. This tent is big enough for both of us," Link said to himself as he set up his cot. After Epona was situated in her sleeping position, Link blew out the lantern and they went to sleep. > Awakening Flurry Heart > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- When Link and Epona woke up the next morning, the rain had not stopped, but it had eased up enough that they did not need the goggles. After catching and cooking a fish from a nearby lake, Link ate a simple breakfast and gave two apples to Epona. Once they were ready, they continued towards the cave where the Tree of Harmony was. Flurry Heart was nowhere near the tree, but there was a glowing spot that sent Link to her. She was laying unconscious in the pinnacle of Twilight's castle. As Link readied his last arrow, he noticed that it was glowing brighter than the others. He then heard Zelda call out to him. "The fourth arrow has two types of energy inside it. The first type will charge Flurry Heart with the sacred power to weaken Ganondorf, and the second type will come in handy at a later time." Link nocked the arrow and shot it straight into Flurry's back. She screamed as the stinging pain woke her up. "YEEOW," she yelped. Link pulled the arrow out when he saw that it was now glowing blue instead of yellow like it had been previously. He explained what was going on and Flurry walked over to the window. Gazing toward Canterlot, she prepared herself for when she had to fire the powerful energy that Link had given her. A magical flame flew through the window and became a scroll that Link grabbed and unrolled. His heart sank in despair when he read it. The scroll had smudges from where tears had dripped on it, but the writing was still readable. "Twilight is dead. The doctors were able to treat her injuries, but her life could not be saved." When Flurry saw the scroll, she broke down in tears. After drying his own tears and cheering up Flurry Heart. Link rushed down to the front doors and blew his horse whistle as loud as he could. Epona came rushing and Link mounted her to find the pieces of Neighsay's medallion. > The first fragment > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Link started off by going to Canterlot to see if Neighsay had figured out where the pieces were. Fortunately, Link was able to hear that Neighsay was back in normal health and that the center of the medallion had acted as a tracer for the parts of the outer ring. Three stars appeared on the map and showed where the three pieces were hidden. The first one was underground in Tartarus. Another one was somewhere on Mount Everhoof, and the last one was in Cloudsdale. Link wasn't sure how he would get to the third shard, because Epona could not fly. He decided to worry about that situation when the time came. He set off for Tartarus and ventured inside. The shard was around Cerberus' neck, but Ganondorf had corrupted him to fight Link. Through much trial and error, Link managed to stop the corruption and Cerberus went to sleep. After grabbing the shard and leaving Tartarus, Link began riding north to reach Mount Everhoof. Without warning, he found himself in a situation that he recognized from when he was lifting the twilight away from Hyrule. He was on a narrow bridge over a bottomless abyss, with fires at both ends, and King Bulblin was at the other end. Link shook his head in disgust that Ganondorf had gone this far. "I am here to play," said King Bulblin. Link snarled and dashed toward him. Shouting something in the sacred language, he charged the Master Sword with energy and stabbed the king. King Bulblin was left dizzy for a moment, but later apologized for trapping Link. After forgiving him, Link destroyed the barriers with his ball and chain and continued on his way to Mount Everhoof. > The second fragment > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- As Link and Epona moved closer to Mount Everhoof, the air slowly became colder and colder. Upon reaching the foot of the mountain, the cold was next to unbearable. Shivering, Link grabbed the coat and the blanket that Rarity had given him. He threw the coat over his tunic and raised the hood after adjusting the position of his hat. He then draped the blanket over Epona and then put her saddle back on. They began feeling much warmer after a few minutes. Without warning, King Bulblin showed up on Lord Bullbo. Link instinctively readied his hand to draw the Master Sword, but King Bulblin put a hand up to show he meant no harm. "Ganondorf sent me to guard one of those medallion pieces from you, but you have neutralized the corruption he put on me. I will guide you to where the fragment is." Link smiled and mounted Epona. The two riders ventured through a snowstorm until they reached a high point that was close to where the fragment was. The fragment was inside a temple built into the peak of Mount Everhoof, but there was a gap between the paths that had filled with snow. King Bulblin crossed first, but the force from Lord Bullbo's hooves hitting the ground caused the snow to collapse. Epona was almost at the chasm when Link saw the snow collapse. His eyes widened in nervousness and he jerked back hard on the reins. When the snow settled, Epona shuddered and gritted her teeth as she took in the sight of the chasm that separated them from the temple. King Bulblin was about to get a length of rope and throw it to Link, but then he saw Link and Epona backing up from the chasm. "What is he doing?," King Bulblin asked himself in confusion. Link moved Epona to the rearmost edge of the ledge and they shut their eyes as he prepared to crack the reins. "It's a leap of faith," Epona murmured as she visualized what was about to happen. Link and Epona shot their eyes open at the same time, and Link cracked the reins. "HYAHH," he cried at the top of his lungs. Epona let out an ear-piercing whinny and began galloping with all of her might. Link's face tightened into a snarl of determination as they moved closer to the ledge. Epona's hooves came together at the edge, and she pushed as hard as she could with her back legs. She leaped off the cliff and sailed through the air with the wind whistling through her mane. Upon landing on the other side, Epona lost her balance and fell sideways into the snow. Link jumped off so he wouldn't get pinned down. After he stood up, Link dusted himself off and let out a cry of accomplishment. King Bulblin and Lord Bullbo were both astonished at Link and Epona's success. "THAT WAS QUITE A JUMP," King Bulblin said in a congratulatory manner before Link sent him back to his followers in Hyrule. Link progressed through the temple until he found the shard frozen in an ice crystal. He slashed the crystal open with a single swing of the Master Sword and picked up the shard. Then, in a dim flash of twilight, Midna materialized and greeted Link. > The last fragment > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "How has everything gone for you," Midna asked Link. "I have been very successful in this quest. There were some obstacles, but I surpassed them with little to no problems." "Zelda asked me to explain what the second energy is in your fourth light arrow. It will give Epona a temporary set of wings and enable you to reach the sky to obtain the last part of that medallion," Midna explained before leaving. After going back outside, Link mounted Epona and descended back to the ground before using the arrow. After he took off his coat and took the blanket off of Epona, Link nocked the arrow and prepared to shoot. "This may feel funny," he said as he pulled back on the bow string. The arrow was now glowing brightly and it turned into an energy bolt when Link released the string. The bolt struck Epona and gave her a small shock. She felt the wings sprout from her back, and Link got back on. She took off and made haste to reach Cloudsdale. They were met by Spitfire who said that the city had been terrorized by a dragon. Link wasted no time working his way through the cloud city until he reached the roof of the weather factory. He fought the dragon with all of his might, using his double clawshots to avoid the dragon's powerful breath attacks. When he landed the final blow, the dragon became a dark orb of energy that burst apart. Luckily, Epona did not fall off of the clouds when this happened. Link seized the final piece of Neighsay's medallion, mounted, and rode back down to the ground. Once the wings had dissipated, Link prepared to set up camp, but then he saw masses of dark magic come streaming from the sky. They slammed into Canterlot and began reducing it to ruins. Knowing he had to act now, Link mounted Epona and she began galloping as fast as her legs would carry her. > Resurrecting Twilight > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- When they arrived at the gates, Link realized that he had not arrived soon enough. "We're too late. Canterlot is shrouded in twilight," Epona whimpered sadly. Knowing what he had to do, Link pulled out the shadow crystal that could transform him into a wolf. He touched the crystal and jumped into the twilight shroud. He made his way through until he found Twilight's friends. They had become orbs of light and indicated that Link had to find five tears of light to bring back the light before he could face Ganondorf. Link wasted no time until he had found all five. The tears converged and became a single orb that burst apart and counteracted the twilight. Once the light had returned, Link transformed back to his Hylian form and began working his way to Canterlot General Hospital. Many areas in Canterlot had large gulleys from Ganondorf's attacks, but Link was able to get across with his spinner. When he reached the hospital, he asked the doctor what had happened to Twilight that resulted in her death. "It seems that the dark abilities of this dark lord you talked about have caused Twilight's heart to become rigid. Therefore, blood cannot pump. I am unsure of how to counteract it though," the doctor said. "Ganondorf uses dark magic. The Master Sword repels darkness. If I stabbed Twilight with my sword, the spirit energy might be enough to bring her back," Link replied as he drew the Master Sword. The doctor said it was worth a try, and Link raised the sword above his head after turning it upside down. Uttering a battle cry, he thrust the sword straight down and stabbed Twilight's heart. Twilight's eyes instantly shot open and she gasped as she felt life in her again. Link pulled his sword out and saw that it did not leave a wound. Instead, there was a glowing area on Twilight's chest where the sword had gone in. The spot went away as Twilight stood back up and thanked Link for saving her. Link hurried back to Epona, mounted, and made his way to the central chamber of the castle Where Ganondorf was waiting to battle him. Before going inside, Link put on his Magic Armor and readied a bomb arrow. He walked inside with his bow in his left hand and the arrow in his right. Ganondorf laughed at him for not bringing a sword to fight with, but that only made Link angry. He lit the bomb, nocked the arrow and shot it through the roof into the sky where the bomb exploded in a flash that illuminated the night. From where they were when Link awakened them, Celestia, Luna, Cadence and Flurry Heart saw the flash and charged up the energy that he had given them. As the power surged through their veins, their skin began glowing bright yellow, with the glow getting brighter and brighter. Until finally, they were ready to fire. All four princesses said different things as beams of energy burst forth from their horns and flew towards the castle "Now is my time to shine. BRACE YOURSELF GANONDORF FOR THE POWER OF THE SPIRITS," Celestia screamed. "This is my only opportunity. I SHALL MAKE IT COUNT," Luna cried. "YOU WILL NEVER TERRORIZE EQUESTRIA AGAIN," Cadence wailed. "THIS IS WHAT YOU GET FOR KILLING MY AUNT TWILIGHT," Flurry Heart shouted so loud that both Twilight and Link could hear her. All four beams converged before they reached Canterlot. The final beam slammed Ganondorf in the back and he screamed in agony. Once the light had cleared, Link drew his sword and climbed back on Epona. He cracked the reins and Epona charged at Ganondorf, tackling him out the window and plunging down toward the ground. Link jumped off and fought Ganondorf as they fell. His goal was to break Ganondorf's armor apart so that he could strike him down easier. Epona plunged into the water at the bottom of the cliff and swam to the edge while Link and Ganondorf landed in the grass and prepared for the final fight to the death. > The Final Battle > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ganondorf stood up and unsheathed his sword as Link prepared to strike. A barrier spawned around the two fighters and they began circling. Then, they charged at each other. Their swords clanged against each other and sparks flew. Link unleashed a Great Spin and inflicted massive damage on Ganondorf. He then sheathed his sword to fool the dark lord. Ganondorf began approaching steadily and was about to slash when Link abruptly grabbed the hilt and drew the sword again, performing the Mortal Draw. Twilight and her friends, along with the other princesses were watching the battle and cheering Link on. Link thrust his shield forward, performing the Shield Attack and then jumped in a forward flip over Ganondorf and took a swing to inflict the Helm Splitter. Ganondorf whirled around to get serious and hopefully take Link out, but Link had other ideas. He side-stepped and jumped behind Ganondorf and twirled around as he met his mark with the Back Slice. "I HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF YOU!!," Ganondorf growled as he charged at Link once more. Link jumped forward and pushed the Master Sword against Ganondorf's sword in a chance maneuver. Snarling at each other through gritted teeth, They pushed against each other with all of their might until Link shoved Ganondorf back. He readied his sword and then leaped forward and swung his sword down as he performed the Jump Strike. Ganondorf was thrown onto his back and his sword had been shattered. Link jumped into his iron boots and then prepared to land the Ending Blow. He jumped high and drove the sword deep into Ganondorf's chest. Ganondorf screamed in pain as the sword's power burned through his veins. At the same time, his body turned to dust and his soul fizzled out of existence. Link had destroyed Ganondorf again, and this time completely. > Link returns home > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- After putting his green tunic back on, Link picked up the shards of Ganondorf's sword and then destroyed the barrier by slashing it with the Master Sword. Everyone had cheered when he killed Ganondorf. After he and Epona had said their goodbyes, Link mounted and used a crystal that Zelda had given him to open a portal back to Hyrule. He cracked the reins and rode through the portal. Light flashed around them as they sped through the tunnel of energy until they emerged in Hyrule Field. The sun was setting when he reached the castle, and he knelt before Zelda to give her the news. "Ganondorf has been eliminated. Here are the shards of his sword. We must destroy them," Link said to Zelda. "I agree with you," Zelda replied. The Light Spirits materialized and used their power to vaporize the shards out of existence. With the sword destroyed and with Ganondorf finally dead, Hyrule was at peace once again. Link returned home to Ordon Village and then took the Master Sword back to the Sacred Grove where he placed it back in the pedestal before going home. He hoped he would not need it again, but he knew where to find it if he did. The End
