My ears are bleeding!

It was a nice, peaceful day in the Crystal Empire. Flurry Heart was taking a flying lesson with her mother while Shining Armour completed the duties for today.

“Mama! Look at me! I’m flying!!” Flurry flapped her wings as hard as she could till they almost looked invisible.

“That’s great Flurry. Now try moving forward to me.” Cadence held her arms open, ready for Flurry to fly into them.

Flurry tried to move forward by thrusting her body towards the direction she wanted to go. It instead made her unstable, causing her to land on her rump.

“Aww, mama, how do I move forward?” Flurry said with a little pout.

“You gotta move your wings in the direction you want to go in and your body will follow.” Cadence lifted off the ground and flew towards Flurry to demonstrate.

Flurry lifted her head to look at her mother who was now in front of her. She examined her closely and notice a little crystal heart on her flank.

“Mama, what’s that?” She pointed to the mark on her flank.

“That’s my cutie mark, sweetie. It’s a special mark you get when you discover your special talent."Cadence explained to her.

“Really? What’s my special talent?” Flurry asked with growing excitement.

“I wouldn’t know, sweetie. It’s something you discover on you’re own.” Cadence explained sweetly.

“Aww, but I wanna know now!” Flurry whined, stomping her hoof down in frustration.

“I know you do, but you’ll have to be patient. Now, what do you say we go grab some lunch and continue this later, huh?” She asked her, scooping her up with her magic and flying them both back into the castle.

After they had finished eating, Flurry found herself wondering a lot about what her mother said.

"It's something you discover on your own."

And that was exactly what she was going to do.

Flurry rushed to her room and pulled out a box of her toys. She removed dolls, plushies and a bunch of gifts Twilight had gotten her. Then she finally found what she was looking for. A pink toy microphone with a bow near the top. It had been a gift for her 3rd birthday from her parents. She used to sing (or at least try too) into it all the time.

She got the microphone and raced back to the throne room where her parents were.

"Mama! Papa! Look what I have!" She waved the pink microphone in the air as she dashed into the room.

"Is that the microphone we got for you?" Cadence asked as she inspected the microphone she was holding.

"I haven't seen you use it in ages!" Shining Armour excitedly said.

"I wanna sing for you, please!" Flurry begged, giving them the puppy eyes for extra effect.

"Of course, sweetie. What do you want to sing?" Shining rose from his throne to go down to meet her, Cadence following behind.

"It's a song a song Auntie Twily and her friends sung at Hearts Warming." Flurry cleared her throat and pressed a button on the microphone to activate it.

"Ponies voices fill the night
Hearth's Warming Eve is here once again
Happy hearts so full and bright
Hearth's Warming Eve is here once again
Oh what a sight
Look at the light
All for tonight
Hearth's Warming Eve is here once again
Clouds arranged 'til they're just so
Hearth's Warming Eve is here once again!" Flurry screeched into the microphone as it was on full blast. Her parents covered their ears in pain, with a look of suffering upon their face.

"Flurry, Flurry! Sweetie, I think that's enough for now." Cadence tried to plead with the filly, but she just kept on singing.

"Cadence, Make it stop! My ears feel like they're bleeding!" Shining whispered to her in desperation.

"I can't! She can't hear us." Cadence cried. Trying to understand her husband through block ears.

Flurry suddenly stopped and looked to her flank. "Did I get my cutie mark?" She asked with a grin, nearly bounce off the walls with excitment.

"Um, no Flurry, maybe it's not-"

"Aw man! I guess I'll try another song. Or maybe I wasn't loud enough." Flurry paused for a moment to rack her brain of any other songs she had been taught or had heard. She suddenly remembered and turned the volume switch on her microphone higher.

"Here are some ear plugs." Cadence pulled some out for seemingly nowhere and handed a pair to Shining as they both braced themselves.

"Friendship used to make me so queasy, queasy
But you made it all so easy, easy
Now I don't have to say what I'm thinking
You already know without even blinking.."

"How does she even know this song?" Shining whispered to Cadence.

"At this point I'm not even sure." Cadence just groaned and put her hoofs to her ears.

"...Best friends until the end of time
We'll have each other's backs
And let our true selves shine
And that's because everything we need is all right here
When we're with our team" Flurry continued to sing even louder than before, making everyone in the room fall to the ground with their hooves on their head.

Flurry stopped singing for a moment and looked around at everyone, much to their relief.

"Mama, why is everyone on the ground?" Flurry looked at all the guards who were now staring to rise to their hoofs.

"Flurry, maybe singing isn't what you were meant to do." Cadence chose her words carefully, trying not to upset her.

"But why? I was very good, wasn't I daddy?" Flurry and Cadence turned to Shining, who was still covering his ears and whimpering.

"I-is it over?" He asked, slowly pulling out the ear plugs.

"Do you not like my singing too?" Flurry asked in a small voice, her bottom lip shaking a bit.

"No, no. You have a very n-nice voice, Flurry." Cadence winced at his words.

"Yay! So should I start singing again?" Flurry didn't wait for their answer and instead just turned on the microphone.

"Shining Armour you idiot!" Cadence groaned as Flurry started to screech into the mic again.

"Oops."
