> Flurry's First Words > by Aurora Sparks > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > What did she say?! > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Flurry Heart had always been a good filly. Always ate her food, never cried when it was time for bed, or never said anything rude. (Of course she couldn't she hadn't ever spoke a word) But it was one this day, when all of that changed. While Cadence and Shining Armour where in a diplomatic meeting with the Yaks. Twilight and Spike were watching Flurry Heart for the day. They had never had any trouble with Flurry before, plus Cadence thought it would be a good time for Twilight to spend time with Flurry. "Remember Twilight, if she gets upset, give her the Whammy, it always calms her down." Cadence said to Twilight as she handed her the snail plush. "And she always takes her afternoon nap after lunch, don't forget." Shining Armour instructed her. "Guys, I can handle it. Now hurry up. Don't wanna be late now, do you?" Twilight said, taking all the supplies and putting them in the castle. "You're right Twily, thanks again! Bye." They gave her and Flurry a quick hug before galloping off to the train station. "Thanks for letting me babysit, guys! Enjoy your meeting!" Twilight waved a hoof to them as they left. Twilight, Spike and Flurry were standing at the castle entrance waiting for Cadence and Shining to get out of view before heading into the castle. "So, what should we do now, Twi?" Spike asked as the headed inside. "Well, it's only morning, so maybe we should play a game?" Twilight suggested. Flurry Heart babbled something and pointed to the closet where Twilight usually kept her toys. "Great idea Flurry! I'll get the toys." Twilight excitedly flew over to the closet and opened it with caution. A few boxes of toys tumbled out and Twilight picked them all up and flew over to Flurry. "Before you arrived, I did a little more shopping and got you some more toys. I got you this manticore one because it was so soft and it had this little cute hat, so I couldn't say no to that. Ooh! And I got this one because it reminded me of you. And this one because it-" "Twilight, she's already playing." Spike said, pointing to where Flurry was sitting and making the manticore plush with the top hat and her Whammy dance together. They both trotted over to the filly with some more toys. "Hey Flurry, why don't you look at this one? It's a star." Twilight pulled a bright yellow star plush from behind her and gave it to Flurry. She took a look at it, then smacked it away to continue playing with the manticore. "I don't think she likes it." Spike chuckled as he picked up the star from where Flurry had thrown it. "Eh, at least she's occupied." Twilight shrugged and moved closer to Flurry as she played. She gently lifted the manticore from Flurry grasp and used her magic to let it dance more gracefully around the snail. Flurry stopped moving the snail and looked at Twilight, she tried to use her magic to copy her moves, it wasn't nearly there, but she was getting better. The two played with the toys until it was time for Flurry to eat. Cadence and Shining had pack the same type of lunch as before, mashed peas. Flurry had grown to actually eat the peas instead of making art out of them, so lunch wasn't a task like before. After they had fed her, Twilight carried Flurry to her room where she had placed the crib for Flurry to sleep in. Flurry was placed down in the crib while Spike shut all the windows and curtains. They quickly tucked her in then slowly creeped out of the room. After a few hours, Flurry woke up, she was bored and wanted to play. She sat in her crib, fiddling with her whammy and the manticore. Flurry managed to wiggle out of her bed and unlock the door with her magic. She flew out into the hallway, where she saw Spike carrying a tall stack of papers. She quickly ducked behind one of the pillars and watched him pass. Spike was looking stressed as beads of sweat ran down his forehead. He accidentally tripped on nothing and the papers went flying everywhere. "Oh shit!" He swore as he collected the paper one by one. Flurry giggle at Spike's choice of words, and Spike heard her from behind the pillars. He put the papers down in a neat pile and walked over to where Flurry was hiding. "Flurry? What are you doing out of bed? Come on, let's get you back." He lifted her up and flew her back to Twilight's room. Spike lay her down in the crib when he saw the look in her eyes. She didn't want to go back to bed. "Aw, I guess if your not tired you can come with me, Twilight's just doing a bit of work and as her number one assistant, I have to help her." Spike shamelessly boasted. He lifted her out of the crib and flew her back to where the papers were. "I just have to pick these up then we can-" Spike stop when he saw Flurry had already stacked the papers into a pile and lay them down. "I guess we can go now." He lifted the papers up with both of his hands as Flurry flew next to him, holding the paper with her magic for support. When they reached the throne room, Twilight was seated in her chair, busy with important friendship documents. She heard the door click open as Spike and Flurry walked through. "Flurry? What are you doing out of bed?" Twilight questioned. "I'm guessing she got bored of sleeping, or something like that. Anyway, I got the documents you asked for." Spike put the stack on the table and sat in his throne while Flurry sat near Twilight on the table. "Woah, those are a lot more than I remember. Flurry, do you wanna help Auntie Twi with some documents?" Twilight asked teasingly. Flurry blew a raspberry at her then teleported her whammy and manitcore to herself. "Wow, I guess someone is beginning to use lots of big girl magic, huh." Flurry babbled and giggle as Twilight tickled her tummy. "Twilight, work, remember?" Spike said, pointing the the scrolls and papers on her table. "Right, sorry Flurry. We can play later." Twilight said, gently placing Flurry down and picking up her quill. "Oh shwit!" Flurry swore as Twilight put her down. Twilight's dropped her quill and turned to look at Flurry with wide eyes and her mouth agape. "W-what did you just say, Flurry?" Twilight managed to say. Spike's face turn to one of embarrassment as he remembered what he said when he dropped those papers in the hallway. "Oh no." He mumbled. Luckily, Twilight didn't hear him, for she was to busy trying to process what Flurry had just said. Flurry giggled again and said, "Oh shit." This time more clearly. "Flurry! Where did you learn to say that?! Oh, Shiny is gonna kill me if he thinks I taught you that, then he won't ever let me babysit you again because he'll think I'm irresponsible!" Twilight started to panic as she thought as she thought about how disappointed he and Cadence would be. On the other hoof, Flurry just kept laughing as if nothing had ever happened. "Twilight, I think..I might know where she learned to say that.." Spike said a bit softly. "Where!? Don't tell me-" Twilight gasped. "You..you swore in front of Flurry?!" "Yes. Well no, well maybe? I didn't mean to! I just accidentally dropped the papers then-" Spike stuttered. "Okay, it doesn't matter how she learnt it, all that matters is that we make her forget it!" Twilight's mane now started to spring out in different directions. "Haha, shit!" Flurry said again, laughing at Twilight's panic. "No, no, no, no, Flurry don't say that!" Twilight thought for a second. "Say, Auntie Twily, yeah try say that? Or Uncle Spike, yes say 'Uncle Spike and Auntie Twilight'" Flurry just giggled and continued playing with her toys. Twilight was now starting to hyperventilate while Spike just looked like he had seen a ghost. "Come on Flurry, please? For me, just say 'Auntie Twily' come on, you can do it!" Twilight tried to encourage her, but had no lucky, Flurry just kept on giggling. "A-auntie Twily?" Flurry tried to say. "Yes, yes! That's it, Auntie Twily, that's me!" Twilight let out a sigh of relief. "Hehe, shiwt!" Flurry then giggled after wards. "No, no Flurry. You almost had it!" Twilight face hoofed and buried her head in her hooves. After a few minutes of trying, there was a knock at the door. "Twilight? We're here to pick up Flurry!" Cadence called from outside. "Oh no! No, no, no! What are they doing here? They're early! Spike go stall them." Twilight said in panic. "For how long?" Spike asked. "For as long as you can, no go!" Twilight rushed him out of the door. Spike quickly ran to open the door. "Hey guys, what are you doing here, you're early." Spike said trying to sound natural. "Oh, hey Spike. The meeting ended earlier than expected, so we decided to come pick Flurry Heart up now. So, where's Twilight and Flurry?" Shining answered back, trying to look behind Spike to see if they were there. "Oh um, Twilight's giving Flurry a...bath! Yeah, a bath. She got a bit dirty because the were playing outside." Spikes eyes darted back and forth as he tried to come up with a believable excuse. "Okay? Can we come in then?" Cadence asked the nervous dragon. "No! I mean, no. Wouldn't you rather stay outside, it's so peaceful out here ya know?" Spike said, trying to hold them back. "Spike, why do I feel like you're trying to stall us? What happened, why can't we go in?" Cadence asked in confusion. "Me stalling, pfft. Of course not! I just...wanted to show you my...juggling skills! Yeah!" He said as he spotted a pair of balls lying near the stairs, must have been one of Pinkie's secret stash balls. He flew down to pick them up and started juggling, or at least trying too. After a few minutes of Spike's helpless attempt to juggle, Cadence had had enough and wanted to go inside. "Okay, Spike, what's going on, Twilight and Flurry have been in there for 20 minutes now. What are you hiding?" Cadence asked with a slight bit of annoyance in her voice. "Okay fine." Spike sighed. "The truth is-" Spike was interrupted by Twilight rushing past him with Flurry Heart in her grasp. "We're here!" She yelled, presenting Flurry Heart to them like a prize. "There you are Twily, what took you so long, I thought I was going to die of boredom from Spike's juggling." Shining whispered to her. "I'm sorry. But, the truth is..Spike accidentally said something bad in front of Flurry then she heard it and started repeating it and I didn't know how to get her to stop so I tried to teach her new words but that didn't work then you two arrived early so I had Spike come stall you because I didn't want you to be upset with me and never let me babysit again and I'm so sorry!!" Twilight cried out all at once. "Twilight, what did you just say? I didn't catch any of that." Cadence looked at her in confusion. "Mawa!" Flurry Heart cheered when she saw Cadence. She flew right into Cadence for an embrace. "Aww, Flurry there you are. I miss you so much." Cadence cooed, cuddling Flurry back. "B-but, just a second ago she wasn't saying anything else, what happened?!" Now it was Twilight's turn to look confused. "Never mind it. Just let it be." Spike whispered to her. "Listen Twilight, I'm not sure what you were saying earlier, but we have to go now. Thanks again for watching Flurry." Cadence pulled Twilight into a sisterly embrace. And Twilight just let out a sigh and hugged her back. "No problem. I love watching my favorite niece." Twilight picked Flurry up and nuzzled her. Flurry babbled some incoherent words and mumbled "Auntie Twily!" "Yes, that's right Flurry, Auntie Twilight." "Now, before we go. What were you saying earlier?" Cadence asked, taking Flurry from Twilight. Twilight became nervous again as sweat started to drip from her forehead. "O-oh would you look at the time, I just forgot! Spike and I have to go..visit Applejack's farm to help her with the harvest! Yeah. Well, we gotta go now, right Spike, bye!" Twilight grabbed Spike and quickly dashed off towards Sweet Apple Acres. "But didn't they already finish the harvest last month?" Shining scratched his head in confusion. "Oh shit!" Flurry giggled. Cadence and Shining looked down at her in pure shock and confusion. "Oh sweet Celestia." ~The End~
