> The Unicorn of the Town > by Majestical4729 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > The Unicorn of the Town > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- In a kingdom of ponies and all kinds of creatures was a small village town called Ponyville, the home of two proud parents who just had their foal born. The foal had a beautiful indigo mane and tail, charming blue eyes, and an attractive white coat. Her appearance was something her parents could barely find, so they believed that she was rare, and thus named her Rarity. Rarity soon grown up to be a filly, being loved by her classmates and friends. But not really every creature loved her; a wicked changeling named Chrysalis was very envious of all the love Rarity was getting, from the shadows she watched over the filly, not as a guardian but as a jealous enemy spy. "How can that little filly be so loved? She doesn't even have strong, powerful, unspeakable magic powers like I do!" Chrysalis hissed to herself, "And called the most beautiful thing by others?! I'm sick of all the love she's getting! If only she wasn't the most beautiful of all!" Just then, Chrysalis watched Rarity share something special with her filly friends Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash and Twilight Sparkle. "These are very special friendship bracelets that I made all by myself with these shimmering, gorgeous beads! And I made them just for every one of us!" Rarity said as she used her magic to give out her creations. "They're so pretty," Fluttershy commented. "And shiny!" added Pinkie Pie. "Oh, Rarity. You don't really have to spend your time to make these for us, you know." Applejack honestly told the white unicorn. "I know darling, but I just love giving things to others! Especially my best friends!" Rarity replied. "Even though we do not often give things to you?" Twilight Sparkle asked. "I am a generous pony! Giving is what I do!" Rarity explained. "But you'd probably won't give away your house!" Rainbow Dash joked. "Of course not! But at least I can give a comment to that joke, Rainbow Dash!" Rarity answered, causing all six fillies to laugh. The spying Chrysalis overheard everything and said to herself, "Generous and love giving? Every reason for her to be so loved!" An idea then popped into Chrysalis' head, "If that Rarity isn't so generous, she won't be as loved as she used to be!" Chrysalis then let out a wicked laugh, as she knew what to do... Later that night, as soon as the moon was hit in the sky, showing that it was very late. Chrysalis used her changeling powers to turn herself into a tiny mosquito and snuck into Rarity's bedroom. "There you are, little most beautiful of them all." Chrysalis jealously muttered while who she just referred to was fast asleep and obviously dd not hear her. "Too bad that you don't get to say goodbye to your little generous heart, because tonight is its final day! From now onwards, you shall have some new things in your heart to replace generously!" Chrysalis snarled as her mosquito nose glowed green, as she casted a spell, "I give you jealousy, arrogance and capriciousness! They shall grow with you as you grow! And as soon as they do...you won't be the beloved most beautiful thing, anymore!" Chrysalis then made her getaway through the window, and back into her hidden lair where she changed back to her regular changeling form. The next day, the curse Chrysalis placed on Rarity seemed to be weak, as Rarity did not seem to act any different until... "Breakfast time, Rarity!" Rarity's mother called. "Coming, Mum!" Rarity replied, racing to the dining table before noticing something different about her breakfast, "Um, why isn't there berries in the oatmeal today?" "Sorry my dear, but we're out of berries." Rarity's mother replied. "What?! But I love having berries in my oatmeal!" Rarity sadly cried, a second before the curse's effects kicked in, causing her nex act to be saying, "Well, if there isn't any berries, then I don't want to have this for breakfast!" "What?!" Rarity's mother asked in a shock tone, witnessing her daughter walk away from the bowl of oatmeal. Later at school, during PE class, the fillies were playing dodgeball as they were divided into 2 teams. Rarity was with Twilight Sparkle and Fluttershy, playing against Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie and Applejack. During the game, Rainbow Dash managed to hit Rarity by her back, meaning that the white unicorn was out. At that moment, the curse's effects surfaced, causing Rarity to angrily curse at Rainbow, "How dare you hit me like that!" "Uh, Rarity? We're playing dodgeball, and the goal is to hit players in the opponent's team?" Rainbow Dash reminded. "You should know better that we girls are precious and valuable, and should not be treated in such ways!" Rarity continued in an arrogant tone, to her friends' shock. "What?!" the other five fillies asked in unison. "No creature should ever hit me with anything! Not even a little ball or a marble!" Rarity claimed, walking off, "I shall never play dodgeball again!" "What in tarnation's gotten into her?!" Applejack asked. "She'd never quit a game and leave us like that!" Pinkie Pie added. Last but not least, when the test results were returned... "And Twilight Sparkle, you got the best marks of all time, once again! Full marks!" the teacher Miss Cheerilee praised the purple unicorn filly. "Thank you so much, Miss Cheerilee!" Twilight Sparkle responded. The curse once again caused Rarity to misbehave. This time, it was jealousy that caused the trouble. "How dare you get better marks than me!" Rarity pointed a hoof at Twilight. "What?!" Twilight asked. "I want to get full marks, too! And yet you get it, while I just get an A?!" Rarity roared. "Isn't A grade already one of the best?" Fluttershy asked in a soft-spoken voice. "One of the best?!" Rarity snapped, "Twilight got better marks than I did!" "Rarity, what's gotten into you?!" Miss Cheerilee asked, "You used to be so generous and accepting, but now you're not!" "I just can't help myself! I can't believe Twilight got the good marks that I didn't get!" Rarity barked, before storming out of the classroom and slamming the door loudly and rudely. "Something's definitely wrong with her," Rainbow Dash commented. Chrysalis, disguised as a bird was spying on Rarity the whole time, and witnessed everything bad that happened. "Yes! The curse worked! Now, it's only a matter of time before she isn't the most beautiful of all! And that means, she won't be so loved anymore!" Chrysalis laughed as her plan was successfully in motion. Years passed and Rarity grew, but so did the curse that made her vices stronger. Whenever she was having a meal with others, she would take as much as she wanted without second thoughts. "Hey, you took so much, there's hardly any cake left for us!" Pinkie Pie complained. "This is my favourite cake, and here we can take as much as we want!" Rarity replied, opposing Pinkie. "But even when we could, we shouldn't!" Applejack pointed out. "Yeah! We should ask if any creature else wants it!" Rainbow Dash added. "Before we take it?" Fluttershy ended. "I don' care! I got the cake, and I'm going to finish it!" Rarity arrogantly huffed. Once, when Rarity could not find hr favourite comb... "Mum! Where's my comb?!" "I already gave it to you, sweetie!" Rarity's mother responded. "Are you saying that I'm forgetful?!" Rarity asked, being capricious. "No, that's not what I meant. You must have misplaced it..." Rarity's mother answered, before being cut off by her own daughter. "I put it right on my desk and it isn't on my desk nor anywhere around now! You must have placed it elsewhere! Find it!" With her vices spoiling her, Rarity was not so loved nor beautiful anymore, to her friends' and her parents' dismay. When Rarity was a young adult in her twenties, no creature other than her family and friends seem to care about her in a good way. Many were terrified of her, knowing her personality, to the point that they tried their best to ignore her, but to no avail. "Why isn't any creature here facing me?! Am I monster to all of you?!" Rarity asked the creatures of Ponyville who were trying to look away from her. "Yes...I mean, no...I mean..." an earth pony messed up, receiving a face-to-face confrontation with Rarity, "How dare you say such things o me!" "Please don't hurt me!" the Earth Pony cried, running away like Rainbow Dash could dash. Every creature present were horrified to see the evens unfold, and quickly responded by trying to make their escape, but Rarity noticed their actions "What are you creatures doing?! I just wanted you all to see me!" Rarity snapped. "Yes! Yes! We see you! We can see you!" a scared pegasus stallion cried fearfully. "Then why aren't you treating me with respect?!" Rarity asked arrogantly, frightening the stallion. "Rarity! Stop!" Rarity's mother commanded, "What do you think you're doing?!" "Getting every creature here to respect me, of course!" Rarity replied like she was royalty. "Sorry Rarity, but you're not so important that..." Rarity's mother began, before being cut off by her furious daughter, "WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?!" "That you are not as important as you think you are!" Rarity's mother bravely stood up. "Of course I am important! I am the gorgeous Rarity, the rarest of them all! And I deserve the rarest valuables of them all!" Rarity argued. "Like what?!" Rarity's mother asked. "What else? Being married to a prince, of course!" Rarity explained, causing her mother, and every creature around to gasp in shock and horror. "Rarity! Are you out of your mind?!" Rarity's mother asked. "Mum, how dare you ask such an absurd question! I'm not out of my mind, I know that I am destined to be wed to a prince!" Rarity argued. "But, but..." before her mother could continue, Rarity cut her off. "No 'buts'! Can't you see that such a rare unicorn like me deserves the best of the best? I know everything about being high-class, so I deserve to be part of a family as high-class as real royalty! Not part of a lame old ordinary family like yours!" Rarity's mother was heartbroken to hear her own daughter insult her that way, gasping in shock before angrily and sadly crying out loud, "Well I hope that you find your prince sooner or later, because it's real pain having you as part of my family!" After mother and daughter parted ways, a white alicorn in the clouds was watching all the events unfold. Shaking her head, she said out loud, "Oh, Rarity, this is no way to behave. Chrysalis really went too far spoiling some creature this badly! If Rarity continue to grow with the curse, it's only a matter of time before she endangers every creature! That must not happen! The only way to stop such a disaster is to get some goodness back into her. And I think I know how..." On the ground, Rarity huffed to herself, "Out of my mind? How can Mum think of such a thing?!" Just then, Rarity tripped on a stone that sent her tumbling down on the ground. The impact left her unconscious, while the white alicorn approached her. "I am Celestia," the white alicorn said, "And I am fully aware of what Chrysalis did to you. I may not have enough power to undo the curse, but I can help you overcome it, so you can undo it. I give you humility, decency and friendliness. Hopefully they can guide you to overcome the vices Chrysalis planted in you. " Celestia then magically disappeared, before she could be spotted by a dragon with bag pack named Spike, who was about Rarity's age, approaching the unicorn. Seeing her unconscious state got him worried, so he quickly responded by trying to wake her by nudging her. Rarity opened her eyes as she regained consciousness, upon getting up, Spike was the first thing she saw. "Who are you?" she asked. "I'm Spike," he replied before asking in a concerned tone, "And I saw you here unconscious before you woke up. Are you alright?" "Well...I am a bit better the just now..." Rarity answered, before feeling pain in her head, "Ah! My head! It hurts!" Spike looked at the unicorn's head, which was red due to the damage. "Your head needs something cold to help it feel better." Spike informed, "Luckily, I brought just the thing." The dragon took down his bag pack and took a light blue ice pack out, and placed it on Rarity's head. "The ice pack will help, you can take it off anytime you like, as long as you get better." At that moment, Rarity saw Spike's kindness and asked him, "Why are you doing all this for me? We don't even know each other." "I was taught to care about others and help those in need." Spike explained, "Even if they are strangers who are unconscious on the ground like you were." "Thank you for your concerns," Rarity thanked, before she sadly realised something; she never treated any creature nicely for the longest of time, not even her own mother. Worst of all, no creature seemed to treat her nicely ever since, with the exception of Spike. "Are you alright? It's like you're thinking of something that makes you upset," Spike asked in a concerned tone. "No..." Rarity responded sadly, "I've been cruel to every creature else for many years, and became a monster in town! Even my own mother found it hard to treat me nicely, because I was mean to her as well! But you Spike, still cared about me kindly and nicely, unlike every creature else! I feel terrible!" "What if you make amends by treating every creature nicely? First by making amends with your mother?" Spike suggested. "Thanks...for helping me...Spike." Rarity wiped out her tears, before using her magic to Tak off the ice pack and return it to the dragon. That evening, Rarity's mother was waiting for her daughter, with a worried look on her face. She then saw a pleasant sight; her daughter was galloping home in good shape. "Oh, Rarity! Where have you been! I was so worried about you!" Rarity's mother asked, hugging her daughter. "Mum, I'm so sorry I treated you in such a horrible way, I should have known that was wrong. I must never treat any creature in such a way, I should have been more caring...I realised my mistakes. From now on, I'll do everything I can to make amends for everything wrong that I did! Starting with making amends with you, the pony who took care of me for all these years." Rarity spoke to her mother who smiled in response. In a matter of time, Rarity finally regained goodness as she did good deeds helping others, most notably when she was helping her mother by making the meals and cleaning the place for her parent. Seeing how happy her mother was to see her(Rarity) less arrogant and more decent. Even Rarity's best friends noticed the cage in her. "Looks like Rarity is finally becoming the good pony we missed!" Fluttershy commented. "I can't believe this is finally happening!" Twilight Sparkle cried happily. "After all this time," Applejack added. "The best thing we've ever seen!" Rainbow Dash continued. "Is Rarity being the good pony she used to be again!" Pinkie Pie cheered, activating her party cannons that fired confetti into the ar. Rarity then approached the confetti that landed on the ground, gasping, "Pinkie! You should have known better not to fire confetti anywhere like that!" "Sorry, Rarity...I just wanted to celebrate you becoming good again!" Pinkie Pie apologised. "Don't worry, I'll help you clear it up." Rarity said, using her magic to levitate a broom and dust pan. While cleaning, Rarity told Pinkie, "You know, a celebration does sound like a good way to show every creature that I'm becoming good again...so I don't suppose we can have a little party?" "Really?! A party for every creature?!" Pinkie Pie asked in excitement. "No better way to get every creature together than having one of those!" Rarity responded, which caused Pinkie to leap into the air and explode in excitement. A few days later, the party began. Most of the food were made by Rarity, to show how much making amends with every creature was to her. "Ready to make your impression?" Twilight Sparkle asked. "Of course," Rarity replied, before approaching the guests, "Greetings, every creature, as you all know, I was not being nice to you all for a long time...and I hope to change that and show you that I learnt my mistake, and will like to make amends. So I hosted this party with the help of my friends, and made most of the food here for you to enjoy." The guests looked at the table filled with all sorts of different treats that made it like a huge feast, and were surprised when Rarity used her magic to give them plates and utensils. "Go on, help yourselves," she told the guests. The guests were surprised to see Rarity being polite to them, after everything she did. Nevertheless, they consumed the food she prepared for them, and find it very delectable, complimenting it. Rarity was pleased to see every creature finally reconciling with her, just before she heard a familiar voice asking her, "Miss?" "Spike?" Rarity asked, before responding, "Why, it's a surprise to see you hear. The good kind of surprise of course. By the way, you can just call me Rarity." "Of course, Rarity," Spike replied, "I see that you're really making amends with every creature by hosting this party. And the food you made is really unique, something special that comes from an amazing unicorn like you." "Thanks, for the compliment Spike," Rarity thanked, just before there was some commotion heard. A unicorn prince by the name of Prince Blueblood had noticed the social party and came to take a look. "So this is the famous Rarity?" he asked, looking at the said mare. "Yes, I am Rarity, but not really famous..." Rarity modestly answered. "I am Prince Blueblood of Canterlot, the richest and handsomest of them all." the prince introduced and braved, offending the other males in the area before he continued, "I've heard that you hosted this party and made the food. You really are the special pony I desire to be with. Come with me, and we can have all the luxury for as long as we live, and everything we wanted!" Rarity thought for a while; getting married to a prince and everything she wanted sounded like the best deal, but Spike helped her out when she needed help, and showed concern for her despite the fact that she never did such things for others that time. After thinking for a while, she announced her decision, "Prince Blueblood, your offer may sound like the best, but I will like to stay here in Ponyville with my friends, the creatures who care about me and help me for all these year, even when I did not do the same for them. They obviously give me what I need, and needs are always more important than wants." The prince was furious to hear what Rarity's response was, despite the fact that she politely said the whole thing. "How dare you say that! I'm offering you the best ting ever! Riches and wishes! And a high-class royal life!" the prince shouted. "You obviously do not care about me as much as my friends do!" Rarity cried out loud, seeing Prince Blueblood's true colours. "I am a prince, and I always get everything I want..." Prince Bleblood snarled, causing Spike to leap in between him and Rarity, defending the mare. The rest of the creatures did the same, stand-in up to Prince Blueblood before they heard some creature calling, "Blueblood!" It was Blueblood's mother, an alicorn by the name of Crown Princess Luna. "Mother!" the prince bowed. "I saw everything that happened; what you've done to be exact! How many times do I have to teach you that this is no way to behave?! I'm taking you back to th Castle and get you to go through those basic, important moral stories, all over again!" Luna scolded, dragging her son with her. Once Luna and Blueblood were gone, Spike asked Rarity, "Are you alright?" "I am now, thanks to you Spike, and every creature," Rarity responded. "No need to thank us," one of the creatures insisted. "We reconciled with you, so there's no way we're going to let such a bully get away with hurting you!" another creature added. "You are all such wonderful creatures to have as neighbours," Rarity cried a tear of joy, "I am very delighted to stay here in Pnyville to live close to all of you, and host gatherings for us all to get together again!" From the clouds, Celestia smiled as she knew that Rarity was finally cured of Chrysalis' curse. "Great to see you being cured at last, Rarity." Celestia said out loud, before changing her focus, "Now, I believe there's a certain changeling that needs to be taken care of!" Celestia then flew off to confront Chrysalis in the latter's lair, to the changeling's shock. "Celestia!" Chrysalis hissed. "Turning others into monsters by implanting vices into them is an extreme wrongdoing, Chrysalis! It's more than clear that you didn't learn a thing from the last time I put you into a millennium-long deep sleep for such crimes! So I'm going to send you into a two millenniums-long deep sleep, this time!" Celestia announced, using her magic to accomplish what she said. "NO!!!" Chrysalis cried in vain, saying her last words before she succumbed to Celestia's spell, falling into a deep sleep. Back in Ponyville, Rarity had became generous once again, giving others their needs when they needed them, such as food, water, and clothing when it was cold. Soon, she and Spike were wed, and they lived happily ever after.
