> TwiGlimmer Stories! > by Moonlight Twinkle > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Wow... > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Starlight paced her room. Recently, when she had been around Twilight, she had been getting a weird sensation. She would get nervous and blush and feel the urge to look at Twilight when they were in the same room. Was it some strange magic of friendship side effect? Had Twilight put a spell on her? Maybe the CMCs had put one of Zecora's potions in her tea. But Starlight could barely even think about the last option. Did Starlight have a crush on Twilight? If so, what should she do? Starlight decided the best course of action would be to see her friends about her problem. In Zecora's hut, Starlight sat across a table from the zebra. "Are you sure the CMCs didn't take some concoction from here?" Starlight asked. "I assure you, my words ring true," Zecora replied. "I think the issue is with you." "Me?" Starlight repeated. "How?" "I believe you have developed a crush," Zecora answered. "I understand it can be too much." "What do I do?" "In reply, I believe you should see your friend Fluttershy." "How could she help?" Zecora just smiled. Starlight sighed and transported herself to Fluttershy's door. She was just about to knock, but the door swung open. Twilight came out, holding Owlowiscious on her hoof. Starlight's eyes widened, but she quickly tried to cover up her surprise. "Oh, hey, Twilight," Starlight said nervously. "What are you up to?" Starlight winced internally. What are you up to? That is such a stupid comment! Of course I know what Twi's up to! She's right here! To Starlight's surprise, Twilight looked a little nervous herself. "Oh, you know, the usual," Twilight said. "Visiting my friends. And you of course. Because you know. We're friends." Starlight forced a nervous laugh. "Yes. I would hope so. I'm going to see Fluttershy." "Well, I just came back from that, so, see you later?" Twilight answered. Her wings started twitching, and Starlight knew that habit came when she was overthinking things, and it only made her fall apart faster than she already was. Starlight put her hoof on Twilight's back and smiled. "You're all right." Twilight took a deep breath. Her wings relaxed. "Thanks, Starlight," she said with a smile. "You're welcome," Starlight said. Twilight moved along, and Starlight knocked on Fluttershy's door. A few seconds passed, and then Fluttershy opened the door with a huge grin on her face. When she saw who was standing in the door, her face fell back into her normal shy smile. "It's you," Fluttershy said. "Come in." Once they had settled on the floor, Starlight asked Fluttershy, "Why weren't you happy to see me? Are you waiting for someone?" Fluttershy blushed. "Yeah," she said bashfully. "I'm waiting for Rainbow Dash. We're having our third date." Starlight gasped. "You mean, you and Rainbow are..." "A couple? Yeah. Twilight was surprised too. It just kinda happened. To be honest, I'm not sure how. I'm telling all my friends one by one. Rainbow is too. I guess since I'm dating someone, I became the unofficial love therapist for everyone." Starlight was taking a minute to process all of this when something hit her. "Wait. Twilight was here for love therapy?" Fluttershy looked about to answer when all of a sudden Pinkie climbed out of a vase in the corner and shushed Fluttershy. "Forever," she whispered. Starlight blinked. "What..." Fluttershy smiled. "It's Pinkie. Don't think about it too much. So, anyway, do you need love therapy?" Starlight smiled sheepishly. "Yeah. I think I might have a crush on Twilight. She's so amazing, and pretty, and smart, and powerful, and we're so alike, and she completes me, and..." Starlight went on and on like that. Once she had finished, Fluttershy smiled. "It seems you may have even a bit more of a crush on Twilight. What you need to do is to tell her." "What!?" "Go to Rainbow Dash for that one." Starlight transported herself to Cloudsdale and found Rainbow taking a nap on a cloud. Starlight cast a spell allowing her to walk on clouds then found another cloud nearby to sit on to wait for Rainbow to wake up. It only took a moment. "What is it?" Rainbow groaned. "Fluttershy said you could help me with telling Twilight that I have romantic feelings for her." Rainbow grinned. "You and Twilight, huh," Rainbow said teasingly. "Well, my confession to Fluttershy was pretty cool if I do say so myself. I got the Wonderbolts to help me even. But you don't need to go all out like I did. For you and Twilight, I think you should just tell her straight out, no fancy things about it. We need to make sure you're confident enough to not ditch it." Starlight straightened. "I'm confident, all right. I'll do it now." Suddenly, Rainbow zipped to face her. "No!" she shouted. When she saw Starlight's confused expression, she calmed down. "I mean, let's practice first. We can go find her at sunset. Always the best time." "Okay," Starlight said. "I'm so ready! What do we do?" "Um...practice on me!" "All right," Starlight answered. She pictured Twilight in Rainbow Dash's place. She took a deep breath, but the butterflies in her stomach clogged up her mind. "Um, er, Twilight, I have something to tell you," Starlight said, then waited for an answer. When none came, she looked defeated. "That was a good start," Rainbow said. "But you can't wait for an answer, and you can't sound unsure of yourself." Starlight nodded. The two of them practiced until the sun had started to set. "I think you're ready," Rainbow said. "Go find her!" Nervously, Starlight teleported herself to the market center, and Twilight was there! "Oh, Starlight," Twilight said, "You're finally here!" "What do you mean by finally?" Starlight asked. "I mean that I've been waiting for you," Twilight said. "I have something to tell you." "You...do?" Starlight asked. This was not what she thought would happen. Maybe she would have to wait. "I do," Twilight said. "You've been a great friend to me, and I respect you. But recently, I've fallen a little in love with you, Starlight. What I'm trying to say is, will you be my marefriend?" Starlight couldn't believe this. Twilight already felt the same way? This was amazing! Instead of answering Twilight's question, Starlight ran forward and kissed her, a passionate one, one that Twilight gladly returned. > The First Date > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Of course," Starlight answered after her kiss with Twilight. "But I want to take you on a date." "Really?" Twilight asked. "Absolutely," Starlight said. "Picnic in the park tomorrow at sunset?" "Sure," answered Twilight. She couldn't believe how calm Starlight was being about all of this. She was about to go on a date with her new special somepony, and she had no idea what to bring, what to wear, or what kind of date this was! How would her other friends respond? She had so much planning to do! At the castle, Twilight paced around her library. She was starting to wear a tread in the carpet. She flipped through as many books as she had about dates and romance. Spike entered the library, only to see Twilight, well, Twilighting. "Calm down, Twi," he said. "What is it?" "I have a date!" Twilight exclaimed as if it was the worst thing she'd ever faced. Spike widened his eyes. That was not what he was expecting. "With whom?" he asked. "Starlight," Twilight answered. "I have no idea what to do!" Spike burst out laughing. "You have a date with Starlight? And you're worried? If anypony wouldn't mind if you messed up a little, it's Starlight. Loosen up. You'll be fine. Maybe our friends can help." Twilight took a deep breath. "You're right," she said. "Could you ask them to come here? I have some research to do." "On it," Spike said. "But I don't think the research is necessary. Starlight trotted to Sugarcube Corner to pick up the cupcakes she had ordered. She was going to make this first date cozy and fun. Likely Twilight was freaking out, and Starlight figured she would need something relaxed to calm her down. Applejack, Rarity, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, and Pinkie Pie entered Twilight's table room in the castle. Spike welcomed them. Twilight was pacing around her throne. "Spike said you wanted to talk to us?" Rarity said. "Yeah," Twilight answered. "I have a date with Starlight, and I don't know anything about dates!" Applejack and Rainbow Dash were gaping. "Already?" Rainbow said. "I thought it would take longer for you to ask her out." "She did it," Twilight said. "Of course she did," Applejack said. "What?" Twilight said, annoyed. "Never mind them, darling," Rarity said. "I can help you get ready for your date." "Thanks so much, Rarity!" Twilight exclaimed. "I couldn't have wished for anyone better!" Rainbow Dash pouted. "I can be pretty romantic when I want to be," she said. "Of course you can," Fluttershy said, blushing. "You too," Rainbow said sheepishly. She gave Fluttershy a kiss on the cheek. Applejack and Rarity looked between the two. "Are we missing something?" Applejack asked. "Of course, silly!" Pinkie Pie said, bouncing by. "They're dating and have been waiting to tell you guys one at a time!" "Wait," Rainbow said. "We haven't told you yet, Pinkie." "I figured it out!" Pinkie said. "Maybe we should go," Rarity whispered to Twilight. They slipped out the door and out of the castle. Twilight and Rarity soon arrived at Rarity's boutique. "First thing first," Rarity said. "We need to find a good dress for you." "Nothing too fancy," "Pshaw! Are you kidding me? This is your first date! We're going all out!" Twilight sighed. "Fine." Rarity squealed. "We're getting you in something blue!" Rarity ran into her closet and got out a brilliant cerulean dress with indigo accents. Twilight's eyes widened. "That's amazing!" "I know, right? Put it on!" Twilight did so, and once she was done, she smiled. She spread her wings and looked in the mirror. "Rarity, you are a genius!" "I know! Take it off so we can go through the next stage of date preparation!" Twilight wiggled out of the dress. "What's next?" "We need to get you some date etiquette." "Is that really necessary?" "Absolutely! Firstly, a line you need to have no matter what is 'your eyes are beautiful.' That always sets the mood." "I'm not quite sure that is the mood." "Nonsense! It's a first date! You need to make sure Starlight knows you're serious. And you need to kiss her." "What? Last time she kissed me. I don't think I'll be able to do it on my own!" "You must! Use that line I gave you, and it should make both of you a little bit uncomfortable. Then when you kiss her, everything will be completely natural." "Are you sure? It's a first date. I don't think this means we should get serious. I don't think we're ready for that." "You are! You've known each other for a fairly long time, and Starlight's liked you for a while now." "She...has? How do you know?" "Haven't you noticed the way she looks at you? Not only is she grateful for you, she really loves you. She's your other half, Twilight. And you have to make sure you don't drive her away." "That could happen?" "No, no. But the first date is extremely important. It's where you make your first impression as her special somepony." Twilight sighed. "I don't think I'll ever be ready for this, Rarity. I do love her. But I don't think I'm cut out for romance." "You don't need to be," Rarity said. "Just be yourself. That's the best you, or anyone, can do." Twilight took a breath. "You're right. I'll just be myself." Later that evening, Starlight spread a picnic blanket in the park facing the sun. It hadn't started to set yet, but it would soon. Using her magic, she spread the cupcakes, a pie, and some sandwiches she made in the middle of the blanket. Shading her eyes with her hoof, Starlight looked at the sun. Twilight should be here by now, she thought. But just as she finished the thought, Starlight heard a twig snap behind her. She spun around to see Twilight, with her wings spread and in a beautiful gown, approach her. "Hey, Starlight," she said shyly. "Twilight," Starlight said. "You look amazing," she said, suddenly self-conscious of her bare body. "Rarity made me wear this," Twilight said. "I can sort of tell," Starlight laughed. "You look great too," Twilight said, blushing. "Thanks," Starlight said. "Want a sandwich?" she asked, levitating one to Twilight with her magic. "Sure," Twilight said, and as it passed from Starlight's magic to Twilight's, the bond sparked. Both of the mares could feel it. Something was happening. In her room, Princess Luna sensed something was magically different. In Ponyville. With Twilight. I should check it out, she thought. > Luna Love > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Princess Luna opened her wings and stepped out onto one of the many balconies on Canterlot Castle. "Where are you going?" said a voice behind her. "To Ponyville," Luna answered Celestia. "Why?" That was a good question. "Something is wrong, Tia," Luna answered slowly. "With Twilight." "Huh," Celestia said. "Well, good luck." She winked. Luna blushed. "Yeah." Luna landed near Town Hall in Ponyville. She looked around for Twilight, ignoring everything else. Twilight needed her. She reached out with her senses, following the streams of Twilight's magic. She took to the sky, heading to a hilltop where Twilight's presence was strongest. She didn't hold back, flying as fast as she was able. She landed on top of it. Twilight's magic streamed from the next hilltop. Twilight, Luna thought. Please be safe. Luna landed next to Twilight on the hill. Surprisingly, Twilight didn't even notice her. Her eyes were closed, and her cutie mark was glowing. A stream of magenta magic sent a beam into the sky. Her magic was twisting with—Starlight Glimmer's! At that moment, Luna's heart started to crack. She sat down beside the still Twilight. Love magic. Such a fickle thing. But this sort of magical disturbance was something Luna had seen before. She called it the Intertwining. When two loved each other enough, a piece of the other would enter the being. Once this was over, Twilight would be part of Starlight and—and Starlight would be part of Twilight. Luna let a tear fall from her eye. It dripped onto Twilight's glowing cutie mark. Luna hadn't known she felt this way about Twilight before now. Get yourself together, Luna, she told herself. Tia will tease you about this for centuries. But she couldn't. Twilight had found someone else. Just then, Twilight's eyes snapped open. "Starlight?" was the first thing that came out of her mouth. Luna noticed quietly the hint of blue in Twilight's eyes. Starlight shook her mane around, trying to clear her head. "Twilight? Are you okay?" "Yeah," Twilight said. Luna just sat quietly, hoping that somepony would notice her. "Luna?" Twilight said. "What are you doing here?" Luna blushed softly. "Checking on you," she said. "I sensed the magical disturbance." A glint of possessiveness entered Starlight's eyes. She pulled Twilight into a passionate kiss. Twilight returned it with just as much fervor. Luna sighed. She couldn't take this any longer. "Well, it seems like you're all right," Luna said. "I'll just be going." Luna spread her wings, about to give a powerful flap to take her far away from all of this. "Wait!" Twilight said. "The girls and I are going to have a slumber party at my castle. Would you like to join us?" Starlight gave Twilight a look. Twilight smiled sheepishly. "Sure," Luna said. She was going to sleep in Twilight's castle! Not that she was excited about sleeping in Twilight's house, of course. But the castle was made of crystal. Yes. That was why she was excited. "You guys can watch me raise the moon," Luna elaborated. Twilight smiled. "We'll be so excited to see you there." "Thanks," Luna said and took off towards Canterlot with a huge grin on her face. Back in Canterlot, Luna and Celestia stood together on one of the balconies, one that faced the sun. Celestia had finished setting the sun a while ago, and Luna was a few minutes late on raising the moon. "You don't usually shirk your duties, sister," Celestia said. "It...was a hard evening," Luna answered. "Tell me, Luna. Maybe I can help." Luna sighed. She might as well. "I have a crush on Twilight Sparkle," Luna said, waiting for the giggles to come from her sister. But Celestia just blinked. "I know," she said. "Is it that obvious?" "That obvious and more," Celestia answered. "But tell me why this evening was hard." "Twilight went through the Intertwining," Luna said. "Oh, congratulations, sister!" "With another mare." "Oh," Celestia said quietly. "Whom?" "Starlight Glimmer," Luna said. "That one? Really?" "Yes. And she kissed Twilight!" "She didn't!" "Yes she did!" Luna sighed dejectedly. Her love had found another. There was nothing more to it. Her life was over. "Well, you're not giving up, this quickly, are you?" Celestia asked as if the notion was crazy. "You love her! And you know the Intertwining can be undone." "But it's nearly impossible!" "Not completely," Celestia said, a determined glint in her eye. "I'll get you with Twilight if it's the last thing I do!" "But how?" Luna asked. "Are you going to spend any time with her anytime soon?" "Well, she invited me to a sleepover," Luna said. Now came the giggles. But Celestia suppressed them after they started. "Well, you've just got to go for it! Don't mind Starlight Glimmer. Right now, all that matters to you is Twilight. And once she gets a taste of your love, she won't ever want to stop. Trust me, sister. I've got you covered. In fact, I think we know a certain princess full of love magic." In the Crystal Empire, Princess Cadence was keeping an eye on the rambunctious Flurry Heart. It...wasn't easy. A letter appeared out of the air. It was from Princess Celestia. Cadence took Flurry Heart out to Sunburst's house. She knocked quickly. The frazzled scholar peeked out his door. "Oh, hello, Princess," Sunburst said. "What do you need?" "As Flurry Heart's Crystaller, I need you to babysit her for a little bit. Not too long, but long enough for me to figure out some logistics." "Of course, Princess," Sunburst said. Cadence laughed. "I keep telling you, just Cadence is fine." "Yes, Princess," Sunburst replied. "I've got you covered." In the Crystal Empire's expansive library, Cadence took out the scroll from Princess Celestia to study it more closely. It read: Dear Princess Cadence, Princess Luna's crush has found another, and she's desolate. I am writing to you in hopes that you might help her by getting her crush to like her. You do have very strong love magic. This mare lives in Ponyville, so you might have to go there. She is deeply in love with a mare called Starlight Glimmer, and they have gone through the Intertwining. However, I believe your magic is stronger than that. -Princess Celestia. Princess Cadence smiled. This would be easy, and it had been a while since she was able to have fun with her love magic. She was just about to put the scroll away when she saw another bit of writing at the bottom. P.S. The mare Luna is in love with is Princess Twilight Sparkle. > Cadence's Conundrum > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cadence paced back and forth. This was a moral dilemma the likes of which she had never seen before. Help Luna and breach upon her sister-in-law's free will? Or refuse the two most powerful alicorns in Equestria? The best thing to do, Cadence decided, was to look at this logically. Flurry Heart had been at Sunburst's for just five minutes when she retrieved her. She hated to say this about her daughter, but Flurry was like an emotional support animal for her. So, Luna wanted to get with Twilight. Understandable. But Twilight was in love with another mare, and this would be no jump-start like her magic usually did. This would be taking Twilight out of love with one pony and into love with another. She usually just helped fighting couples or two shy ponies with a mutual crush (she would never tell Dash and Shy what she had done to get them dating). But this...this crossed the line. Or did it? The Intertwining was pretty much true love, sure, but it happened at the very beginning of a relationship between two ponies meant to be together. If they broke up, it would be nothing unusual, given they would have been dating for a matter of days...everypony would think it just hadn't worked out. And Luna was an amazing pony. Twilight would be in good hooves. Cadence sighed. She had to make a choice, and she thought she should do it. It wouldn't hurt anypony besides maybe Starlight Glimmer, and she would be also under the impression it hadn't worked out. "What is this?" The voice of her husband rang out. Cadence looked up to see Shining holding the letter from Celestia. "You aren't considering this, are you? If my sister has fallen in love, it's not okay for you, or Celestia, or even Luna, to meddle with it." Cadence sighed. "Yes, I am." Shining lowered the paper, his knees starting to weaken. "I never thought...I thought you cared about...Have you done...I can't believe..." He stopped even trying to form sentences. He walked away, not even glancing back. Twilight and Starlight were in the library, Twilight avidly reading, and Starlight lying in a pile of books she'd barely touched. Starlight was practically asleep when there was a popping sound, and suddenly Shining Armor was there, looking dejected. Twilight immediately ran over to him, and Starlight did a wacky accurate Sunset impression, hair messed up, eyes barely open, horn at the ready in case there was some monster barreling through the castle. "Shining!" Twilight exclaimed, giving her brother a huge hug. "What in Celestia's name are you doing here?" "In fact," Shining said, "it's because of Celestia's name that I'm here." "What do you mean?" Twilight asked worriedly. "Luna has a crush on you," Shining Armor said. "Obviously," Starlight said, finally waking up and combing out her hair with her magic. "One, Twilight's amazing, and two, everyone knows that. What does that have to do with anything?" "Luna saw you guys go through the Intertwining, whatever that is," Shining said. "It's kinda like a less dramatic version of your and Cadence's Intertwining," Starlight said, "which you went through when you got rid of the changelings in Canterlot." "Ah," Shining said, barely listening. "Anyway, Celestia found out and sent a letter to my wife, telling her to use her love magic on you, Twilight, to make you fall in love with Luna." "Okay," Twilight said without worry. "She said no, so I don't need to worry." The dejected look on Shining's face, and the spiteful way he said "wife" gave it away. "Oh no," Twilight said. "What will I do! I love Starlight! I don't want to be in love with Luna! I mean Luna's great, but as a friend." Starlight smiled weakly. "I think there's only one thing to do." Starlight took a piece of parchment and a quill with her magic. "What are you doing?" Twilight asked. "Telling Luna she can't come to our sleepover." "Don't do that! I invited her because she was hurting. This would be even worse. And we could just put up a magic shield, so no outside magic can get in." Starlight sighed. "I suppose we could do that." Twilight and Starlight put their horns together and cast a white shield around Twilight's castle. "That should hold," Starlight said. They added a kiss for good measure. They then turned to Shining. "Thank you so much for warning us," Twilight said. "Who knows what would have happened if you hadn't." Shining Armor smiled. "My pleasure," he said. "You've found a fine mare, little sister." Twilight grinned. "Sure have!" "Please tell Cadence about the shield," Starlight said. "Tell her not to even try, because she won't be able to. Tell her I'll protect Twilight." Shining Armor sighed. "I will, Starlight. But I don't know what to do. I thought I knew the mare I married, but now I find out she has no sense of morals." Twilight came up and gave Shining Armor a hug. "She probably was torn and came up with some sort of flawed reasoning for what she planned to do. She probably didn't want to. You should talk to her. I'm sure you two can figure it out. Cadence is a good mare. Think about how well she rules the Crystal Empire! She just made a mistake." "Thanks, Twily," Shining Armor said. "I'll talk to her. But I'll make sure Flurry Heart is there." He grinned and leaned into Twilight. "She's a great emotional support animal," he whisper-said. Twilight laughed, and he popped out of the room. Starlight gave Twilight a big hug. "You sure we'll be okay?" Twilight smiled gently and wrapped her wings around Starlight. "Nothing can break us," she whispered. "We'll be okay, I promise." Luna was sitting on her bed, frowning. "How are you going to get us together? It better not be with magic. I don't want to take away Twilight's free will." "Absolutely not," Celestia lied. "The sleepover's tomorrow night, though. You better be ready."
