> Making Amends after the End > by Majestical4729 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Prologue: At the Donut Shop > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- After the events of ‘The Ending of the End’ the Mane Six were happily sharing a laugh as they finish their donuts. They really could use a peaceful break after all they went through trying to save Equestria from Tirek, Chrysalis and Cozy Glow. “Those donuts were delicious! I ate so much that I bet that there’s no room for Apple Family’s dinner tonight.” Applejack commented about the said treats. “They were nice, just what I needed after all that’s happened.” Fluttershy said in her usual warm tone. “Plus, they’re perfect for a party!” Pinkie Pie exclaimed in her crazy tone. “They are certainly divine!” Rarity described, using her catchphrase for describing something that she finds perfect. “It’s been forever since I last ate those donuts, I’m glad you picked this Donut Shop, Twilight.” Rainbow Dash told the was-going-to-be ruler of Equestria, Princess Twilight Sparkle. “It was nothing,” Twilight replied, “I just thought that this is the best way to celebrate the defeat of the three villains, and how grateful everything is with Equestria saved.” “And speaking of villains, I can’t believe that Discord thought that bringing them back will boost your confidence,” Applejack commented, while talking to Twilight. “And Sombra!” Pinkie Pie added. “Now that you mentioned it, I do realise how much trouble Discord was!” Rarity angrily exclaimed. “Yeah. I mean, King Sombra nearly brainwashed all of Equestria, then Tirek, Chrysalis and Cozy Glow almost let Equestria get completely frozen by the Windigos, and they would have killed us if it weren’t for our top friendship students,” Rainbow Dash pointed out. “No offence, really.” Spike the dragon added, “But I don’t think that helping us escape was enough to make up for the whole villain attack thing.” Fluttershy felt terrible to hear what all of her best friends had to say about Discord. “Fluttershy!” Twilight cried out, “Are you okay, you don’t look so well...” “I don’t feel so well, either.” Fluttershy responded, “I feel awful knowing what you all had to say about a friend.” “Seriously? Discord just put all of Equestria in danger twice! And those villain attacks would not even happen if it weren’t for him!” Rainbow pointed out. “And that King Sombra he brought back not so long ago forced us to fight all of our Ponyville and Canterlot friends! Including my beloved Fancy Pants!” Rarity cried out, before letting tears flow out from her eyes. “Fighting my family is the one thing I’d never do!” Applejack pointed out, “And I’m glad I didn’t have to, otherwise I’d feel so different around them nowadays, or can barely forgive myself for having to hurt them.” “And I can’t imagine needing to fight the Cake Twins, which I’m glad that never happened, because I can’t imagine myself hurting such adorable innocent babies!” Pinkie Pie declared in a crazy tone. “You two are lucky that you didn’t have to face off your loved ones when Sombra’s got them.” Rainbow Dash told the Earth Ponies, “I had to outfly and face the Wonderbolts! My long-life personal heroes!” “Being brainwashed is totally not cool,” Spike commented, “Even though I could not control myself, I knew what I did, and it was awful!” “And the worst-of-all-time main point is:” Rarity angrily began, before dramatically crying out loud, “NONE of that, nor today’s villain attack events would even exist if it weren’t for DISCORD!” “Enough!” Fluttershy shouted, ending the unpleasant conversation about Discord.“I know you are all upset, but let’s not forget that we can be very forgiving. Plus, Discord did, in the end, helped prevent the villains from causing anymore trouble.” she pointed out. “But he’s the one reason that there were villain trouble in the first place!” Rarity argued. “Brainwashing almost all of Equestria?” Rainbow reminded. “Almost let Equestria fall apart?” Applejack continued. “And worst of all, almost finished us!” Pinkie Pie concluded dramatically. “I’m so sorry, Fluttershy,” Twilight approached the yellow pegasus, “But I’m afraid that every creature has a point. Causing major villain attack disasters that almost destroyed Equestria twice is an extremely terrible crime, despite the good intentions. When you want to achieve something good, the way you achieve it counts as well, in other words, both your intention and method have to b good. In this case, using a horribly dangerous method is not any good. I’m afraid we’re going to have to confront Discord and decide some consequences.” Fluttershy’s expression immediately transformed from concerned into scared after hearing what Twilight had to say. > Confronting and Threatening > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Later that day, the Mane Six returned to Ponyville to host a meeting in Twilight’s castle. Even the School of Friendship’s newest workers, Sunburst and Trixie were involved, bringing their top students, the Young Six. Soon, the ‘most important guest’ arrived. Discord nervously entered the Throne Room alongside Fluttershy, who obviously had told him what the sudden urgent meeting was about. “Discord,” Twilight began, “You are brought here to answer to the terrible recent crimes that you’ve committed against all of Equestria! Is there anything you’d like to say about it before we ask more questions?” “Yes, there is.” Discord replied, “Back when princesses Celestia and Luna announced their retirement, Twilight was all...” he then disguised himself as Twilight to act out and panic, “I can’t do it! I’m not ready to run a whole kingdom!” “Back to the point, Discord,” Applejack reminded the Lord of Chaos. “Oh right,” Discord changed back to his regular form, before resuming, “As I was saying, Twilight was all panicky and stressed, and I thought that she needed confidence. And, then again, every time you defeat a baddie, you’re all so proud and confident, so I figured to set up a great challenge for Twilight to face and accomplish so she’d be full of confidence to rule Equestria.” “So you caused major villain attacks, just to give her confidence?!” Rainbow Dash angrily asked in a volume as loud as shouting. “Because that’s what you’ve been facing all this time? Every now and then?” Discord asked in a little squeaky tone. “So not cool,” Spike commented, “Big Mac and I got brainwashed by Sombra to help him take over Equestria! And that’s all you have to say for putting your best guy friends in danger that you caused?!” “Well...I barely noticed your presence in Sombra’s army...” Discord responded, “But look on the bright side, at least that won’t happen again.” “Chrysalis, Tirek and Cozy Glow?!” Rarity stated, “They might not have tried to take over Equestria in the same way Sombra did, but they were utterly worse! Spreading lies about us ponies, turning the Equestrians against each other, destroying the royal castle in the capital city of the kingdom, Canterlot, imprisoning all of us heroes of Equestria, almost killing us, and blasting all of our allies and friends away when they came to help!” “But I did help you escape, decide their punishment, and help stone them?” Discord reminded the furious unicorn. “You did, but I’m afraid that it wasn’t enough,” Twilight told the draconneques, “All the trouble actually could have been prevented! And we were just really lucky that every creature survived! If it weren’t for us, King Sombra might have ruled and brainwashed all of Equestria. And if it weren’t for our students’ actions, Chrysalis, Tirek and Cozy Glow would have killed us, leaving Equestria to be ruled by some creature else or worse, the villains if they weren’t defeated!” Every creature in the room eventually realised Twilight’s point about how unforgivable Discord’s crimes were, with Fluttershy being the most upset. “Um...Fluttershy?” Discord turned to the one pony whom he loved the most, hoping that she could help him once again. “Discord,” Fluttershy began, “I actually want to forgive you, and want every creature to forgive you too, but I still can’t believe...” she stopped for a second, before crying out loud, “That you did such a horrible thing to all of us! I thought what you learnt after Tirek tricked you was enough to prevent such thing from happening again, but it wasn’t! All my BELIEVING that you would be good forever were all for nothing! I actually believed it for YEARS! But then... after so much time...it was ALL for NOTHING BUT A BROKEN HEART!” finishing her speech, Fluttershy cried out a river of tears, while Rarity handed her a handkerchief. “Shame on you, Mr Discord!” Ocellus bravely confronted, “You just hurt your very first friend, and one of the best ponies in Equestria!” “And, if you must know, she’s talking about Professor Fluttershy,” Silverstream clarified. “Best pony teacher ever! How dare you hurt her!” Yona added. “Really lame,” Smolder commented. “The griffons, dragons, changelings and yaks’ former attitudes to the ponies are nothing compared to your actions!” Gallus described. “Endangering creatures is not what friends do!” Sandbar pointed out. “If our top students have the same standards as their teachers, there’s no reason for me to disagree! I’m afraid that I am with every creature here but you, Discord!” Sunburst confronted. “And I, the Great and Powerful Trixie, may be a horrible pony a long while ago, but at least I was NOT as bad as you, Discord!” Trixie commented, “It’ll take all the good deeds in Equestria to make up for such a horrendous misdeed!” “Trixie, that’s it!” Starlight responded to her best friend’s comment, “Good deeds! Discord needs to do a lot of good deeds to make up for his bad ones!” “Then everything will be all ay-okay again!” Pinkie cheered. “Thanks for the suggestion girls,” Twilight told Trixie and Starlight before turning back to Discord, “Discord, you are lucky that the creatures confronting you now are Friendship experts, so instead of punishing you, we are giving you a chance to be spared. But, if youdon’t do enough good deeds to make amends for your crimes before sunset on the third day, I’m afraid that you have to face some serious consequences.” Discord gasped to hear what the going-to-be ruler of Equestria had to say and do, before the only alicorn stood up. “You better get going and think about what you can do, because your first day is tomorrow.” she advised him. “Oh, fine! But you’ll be surprised! I already got lots of plans...” Discord responded, not expressing any fear or worry about the consequences that threatened him. He was completely confident that making up would be a piece of cake. “Do you think he listened to all that?” Applejack asked. “He better had, because the threatening is real.” Twilight replied, before turning back to the other creatures. > Failed Attempts > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The next day, in her cottage, a concerned Fluttershy called Discord, “Discord! Discord! Where are you?!” “Right here!” Discord answered, appearing out of nowhere, obviously having used teleportation to get in. “Oh, Discord! I’ve been so worried about you! Have you done anything good yet? Because you really needed to, so you can be spared from a horrible fate.” Fluttershy told him. “Oh, no worries, dear Fluttershy! Good ol’ Discord here got plenty of good deeds that he can do...” the draconneques responded. ”That’s wonderful!” Fluttershy said in relief, “So what have you done?” With a snap of his fingers, Discord teleported the two from the cottage to Ponyville, where Discord had released giant hand fans to fan ponies and keep them cool. “What do you think? Cool, isn’t it?” Discord made a pun after asking. Unfortunately, despite how cooling the fans were, the wind they produced eventually blew away very light objects such as paper, hats and grains of pepper. Soon, every creature around were sneezing, including Spike the dragon, who started sneezing fires around town! Every creature panicked and evacuated to safety, while Fluttershy told Discord, “Discord! Return everything to normal, please!” “Return to normal? But I thought that you all wanted me to do good deeds.” Discord protested. “Causing trouble is not a good deed, it’s a bad one!” Fluttershy clarified. “Oh, right.” Discord groaned, before undoing everything he did that morning with a snap of his fingers. “Way a go, Discord.” Spike sarcastically commented, “Now you have more good deeds to do!” “Wha...what?!” Discord responded in shock, “But I... already tried doing something good! I do have good intentions, I swear!” “But it ended up causing lots of trouble!” Spike argued, “You need to do a good deed that does not cause any trouble. Plus, more bad news for you, I’m telling Twilight about this.” “What?! No, please, don’t tell Twilight! I swear I’ll make up for this as well, I swear!” Discord pleaded, trying to stop Spike. “Too bad for you, even if I don’t, the beans will be spilled, one way or another. Just like how Tirek, Chrysalis and Cozy Glow got loose.” Spike replied, before walking away. Later that day, Apple Bloom was on her way home from school, happily walking down the path. She was quite surprised when she stepped on the ground that was a hundred metres away from the farm, as it revealed an invisible detector that scanned her hoof, before giving her a free super-fast ride home on an invisible treadmill. “WHOAH! What gives?” the filly screamed. Discord then appeared, “You’re welcome, Apple Bloom, now with this treadmill, you can get home in half the time.” Apple Bloom stopped right in front of the barn, heaving a sigh of relief, before scolding the draconneques, “Discord! That was horrifying fast! Some creature can get a heart attack! Especially the sensitive ones!” The next second, Apple Bloom’s words were proven true: Screaming could be heard as the Apple Family’s famous elderly, Granny Smith came, on the treadmill, delivered to the barn where she passed out from her shock. “What’s all the commotion’s about?” Applejack asked, coming out of the barn after hearing Granny Smith’s screams. The cowgirl then took one notice of the unconscious elderly on the ground before gasping, “GRANNY! What happened?! Are you alright?! Some creature call the medical pony!” “No need!” Discord declared, snapping his fingers to summon a team of medical ponies, who quickly begun their work. Unfortunately, unlike real medical ponies, Discord’s team seemed to be a lot more discordy than serious with their job. Ultimately proven when they decided to do a ridiculously scary operation of cutting open Granny’s body to fix her. Horrified, Apple Bloom fainted while Applejack angrily scolded Discord. “Discord! Get your so-called ‘Medical ponies’ out of here! They are not making anything better! Now turn everything back to the what they were, or will be, if it weren’t for you!” the enraged farmer demanded. “Oh, fine.” Discord replied in a tone that obviously showed how reluctant he was to fix things. With a snap of his fingers, the invisible treadmill disappeared, so did the team of ‘Medical ponies’, and the two unconscious Apple Family members regained consciousness. “Apple Bloom, Granny!” Applejack hugged the two, “I’m so glad that you’re back to normal, but I’m afraid that not everything’s normal yet.” That evening, Twilight returned to Ponyville from overseeing the rebuilding of Canterlot, only to be surprised to see a huge party in the whole town. “Hello, every creature! What’s going on?” the alicorn asked. “Discord’s invited us all to a huge party that he organised and threw to make amends!” Silverstream answered. “You know, to make up for the whole villain thing?” Gallus added. “And, so far so good, as no creature got hurt,” Sandbar complimented. “That’s a good thing, because I heard that Discord was here and at Sweet Apple Acres where he tried to make up but messed up.” Ocellus commented. “Yona may not really like Discord after what he did to school, but Yona had learnt; that friendship means forgiving, so Yona decided to give Discord another chance.” Yona declared in her usual third-creature speaking way. “I’m still not so sure that this is enough,” grumpy Smolder groaned.”I mean Discord’s the all powerful Lord of Chaos, he can do way more than this.” Just then, Discord appeared in the middle of the town, “Greetings, every creature! As you all know, that this party’s part of my apology to make up for a series of mistakes I’ve made. And, to make it more extraordinary, I, the host, Discord, shall be your wish granting genie for the evening,” Discord announced, putting on a genie costume that he magically summoned. Twilight and the Young Six watched from afar as the ponies trotted towards Discord to make some wishes. “This better be good.” Smolder sarcastically commented. “Come on, every creature, give him a chance!” Sandbar advised. “Well, changelings may have the ability to transform, but we don’t really have the ability to do everything. So...wish granting would be out of the ordinary for us.” Ocellus stated. “Wish granting is everything! I must check it out!” Silverstream excitedly exclaimed, rushing towards the booth. “Wait up, Silverstream!” Gallus called out, as he and his friends followed her. Just before the Young Six and their former mentor could reach the booth, Discord happened to grant a foal’s wish to have elephants as his pet, causing the crowd to scream and leave the area, as wild elephants appeared! Seeing chaos caused by Discord once again, an outraged Twilight shouted, “DISCORD!” “Yes, your Majesty?” the Lord of Chaos replied in a calm tone, as if nothing happened. “Don’t you even know what you just did?!” the purple pony angrily asked. “Grant wishes and make ponies happy?” Discord asked in an innocent tone. “No, you granted a horrible wish that puts every creature in danger! Now UNDO IT!” Twilight commanded in a furious tone. “Fine.” an unamused Discord responded, following the princess’ orders, he snapped his fingers to send the wild elephants away. “Ta-da! Wish granted, now what, Princess Twilight Sparkle?” he asked. Twilight let out a puff of steam before angrily confronting Discord, “Now what?! Discord, you face the music!” “What music? I don’t hear any music.” Discord asked, expressing confusion rather than fear. “Not the literally music, it means that you face the consequences! Every time you do a good deed, you act all discord and make things worse on purpose! I told you to make amends and that there will be consequences if you don’t, but you did not take it seriously! Now that you’ve put creatures in danger that you caused, again... I’m shortening your make amends homework due date to tomorrow noon 12 o’clock! If you don’t make amends completely, it’s a super punishment you’ll get!” Twilight threatened. The Young Six gasped to see their former Headmare so furious and threatening some creature, before she flew off, leaving a guilty Discord behind. > Fluttershy's Thoughts > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- After being threatened by Twilight, Discord visited Fluttershy at her cottage, and found her crying like crazy. Tears never stopped coming out of her eyes, as her animal friends gathered around her, trying to comfort her. “Fluttershy?” Discord asked. “Discord!” Fluttershy wept, “I’m so upset about you! You just made everything worse! And now...you’re threatened to get a punishment that’s really bad! And it upsets me more than ever to know that you did some horrible deeds and got threatened by Twilight! And the only reason it upsets me the most is...” Fluttershy stopped. She had never stopped to think about why she would be upset the most by Discord doing something bad, or getting something bad. Sure, she would be upset at any friend of hers if they were to experience the same, but why would the feeling be so strong when it comes to Discord? He is her friend, and one of the few reformed villains whom she befriended. However, out of all the former villains whom she is friends with, Discord seemed to have a special place in her heart compared to them. They spent a lot of time together, both alone and with their friends. Discord may still be mischievous, but they always get through hard times where Discord created trouble. But the recent trouble Discord created the very moment was not any ordinary trouble. It was so infamous that he was threatened to be punished by the going-to-be ruler of Equestria! The incident of Discord betraying Equestria to help Tirek was just as bad and heart-breaking for Fluttershy, as she believed in Discord more than any creature else would believe in him, being the one who worked so hard to reform him. It eventually took a while to recover from that experience, and believe in Discord once again. But now, it happened a second time, she was grievingly upset that her strong believes turned out to be in vain. Sure, any creature would be upset when they finally discovered that their strong believing in something for a long time was for nothing, but some hurt more than others. Fluttershy eventually recalled that Discord was not really the only one who upset her by doing something she believed that he would not do, as the CMCs had disobeyed her once to go after her lost chicken. Back to the main point, Discord did do something a lot worse than the CMCs, but was that why she was really upset with him? Or, could the real reason be that she viewed Discord as some creature more special than every creature else? Sure, Discord was so far the only draconneques around, but species never mattered, who you are was always what mattered, and that meant personality. Discord may be reformed before Starlight, but her personality after reforming was still a lot better than his. But Discord always had an angel behind his mischievous behaviour. All these years, no matter how others viewed Discord, Fluttershy was always the only one who always saw the positive side of him, and believed in him as if he was her only friend. But Fluttershy still cared about her other friends, no matter what Discord did. He may not be as heroic nor good-valued as the rest of her best friends, but why would she trust and believe in a creature who was obviously not so trustworthy, more than those who really were? After a storm of thought, Fluttershy wept out her tears and responded, “I can’t describe why I’m upset the most when it comes to you, but I know that I can’t let you suffer. Come on, Discord, we only got this night to find something good enough to make every creature forgive you, so let’s not put it to waste.” “You’re willing to help me? Even after all that’s happened?” Discord asked. “Totally.” Fluttershy confirmed. > Epilogue: Discord is Spared...and the Future of Fluttercord > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The next day, Twilight exited her castle through the front door, obviously having just woken up from sleeping through the night. She was quite surprised to see a poster with Discord nearby on her castle wall, with a headline that read, ‘Call Discord’. “Oh, great. What is he up to now?” the alicorn asked herself. Twilight’s question was soon answered as Discord appeared to all of Ponyville. ”Every creature!” he announced, “Lord of Chaos, Discord is here, again. But this time, I really swear that I will make amends and change not only myself, but all of Equestria and beyond, for the better. Today, I give you all the ability to call me to fix your problems, no matter how near or far you are!” “This is a joke.” Twilight muttered to herself, as she proceeded to use her magic to take down her poster, only to set off an alarm that alerted Discord. “You called? Princess?” he asked, appearing before her. “Called? But.. I didn’t say anything! All I did was use magic to...” Twilight replied, before Discord explained. “These posters aren’t just any posters; I enchanted them to alert me whenever some creature touch them, or whenever some unicorn use their auras on it. And the main point is, I placed these posters everywhere so every creature can call me no matter where they are, so I can help.” “Help? With what?” Twilight asked sarcastically. Suddenly, Doctor Whooves went rushing throughout town, panicking, “This is disastrous! I just remembered that I left my latest science invention when I reached the Train Station! And my ride’s going to be in less than five minutes!” “Never fear, Discord is here.” Discord declared, appearing in front of the panicking stallion. “What do you need?” “To get my latest science invention and catch the train!” Doctor Whooves screamed in panic. With a snap of his fingers, Discord summoned Doctor Whooves’ invention, gave it to its owner, then created a portal from their current location to the Train Station. After a grateful Doctor Whooves thanked him, Discord turned towards the crowd, asking, “Alright, every creature, who needs or wants something? I’m ready to hep!” “I have something I’d like to ask for, Discord.” Twilight firmly declared, “And that is to make sure no more granting of ridiculous wishes like pet wild elephants!” The foal who wished for elephants the previous day then appeared, responding, “Aw, but I’ve always wanted to have one.” Discord immediately expressed glee , which Twilight quickly took notice of, responding, “Discord, NO!” But it was too late. Discord already gave the foal a real adult elephant. But thankfully, this time, the elephant was moral and nice. Instead of being wild, it was tame and helpful, demonstrated when it always looked out for every creature, while befriending its owner. “And one more thing!” Discord called to the foal, summoning a few objects before handing them to the foal’s new pet. “Here are some things that you need to take care of the elephant! His food, soap, shampoo, scrub and even an inflatable shelter in case it rains! Take good care of him!” “Thank you so much, Lord of Chaos, Discord! You’re like the...best wish granter around!” the following thanked, before walking its new pet home. Finally convinced that Discord hd changed for the better, every creature trusted him and were willing to call for his help to give them both their needs and wants. Princess Twilight, witnessing how helpful and beneficial Discord was, approached the draconneques, “Discord,” she began, “I’m...so sorry about how I threatened you. Twice. Now I really understand why Celestia wanted you reformed. She was right; You do have good in you, and your magic can be used for good. To make up to you for how threatening I was, I hereby declare that you are officially forgiven for your crimes, and I approve your new business as wish granter, as long as you grant the wishes right.” “You mean it? You forgive me?” Discord asked. “Yes, I do.” Twilight confirmed. “That’s wonderful!” Fluttershy complimented. “Got to say, Discord can actually be really cool, when he’s more into being good, that is.” Rainbow Dash commented. “And, be a creature-entertainer!” Pinkie Pie cheerfully added. “Finally! Something good enough to make amends!” Spike added. “And you all should thank Fluttershy for giving me such a wonderful idea!” Discord announced, holding up Fluttershy. “It’s the least I could do, to help.” the yellow pegasus answered. “Fluttershy,” Twilight approached, “Thanks for helping Discord become good, again. And I have something I hope that you can do, can you make sure Discord stays being a good wish granter?” “Well, of course! Whenever I can,” Fluttershy replied. Many years later...after the events of ‘The Last Problem’... “One year later, after the coronation, your Dad, Discord, and your Mum, Fluttershy, were married, and they lived happily ever after!” read Discord, closing a magical storybook that he made. He was just reading a story to his and Fluttershy’s only child, who had fallen asleep in bed. “Discord!” Fluttershy called, softly so she would not wake their child. “Oh, sweet Fluttershy!” Discord called, hugging her. “So, came back after Friendship Council meeting?” “And giving Luster a tour around Ponyville,” Fluttershy replied, “And I’m ready for our dinner tonight!” With a snap of his fingers, Discord teleported them to another dimension to have their dinner, so they would not startle their kid. “So, what would you like, Miss Shy? Cakes, pasta, oats, hay?” Discord asked in a waiter’s tone, making Fluttershy giggle. “Discord, you know that I don’t ask much,” she reminded him. “Of course, Fluttershy. Of course.” Discord replied, before summoning a regular dinner for them to eat. “I’m glad that you managed to be so helpful,” Fluttershy told her husband. “And I’m glad that this world has some creature who would believe in me, and help me, no matter what, and that’s you Fluttershy.” Discord told his precious wife. “You’re welcome, Discord, and I’m glad that you don’t have to be punished, especially back when Twilight threatened you for bringing back the villains. I was so heart-brokened because...I loved you...when it happened.” Fluttershy responded. “That’s what you said on the day I proposed to you, dear.” Discord reminded her, in a romantic gentle colt’s tone. “Yes, and I still love you,” Fluttershy giggled, before resuming dinner with her husband.
