Pinkie Pie turns Cheese Sandwich's friendly visit into a super major event.
After learning that her party-pony pal Cheese Sandwich is going to visit, Pinkie Pie tries to turn his friendly visit into a major event that all of Ponyville gets involved in: and that’s just the iceberg’s top! Every creature’s famous heroine of Equestria eventually goes insanely demanding to aim for perfection for the occasion, but why is she turning an old friend’s visit into something so crazy and unnecessary?
I admit that I may not like Cheesepie, but I’m posting this story to show an example of selflessness, as I am willing to abandon my own desires of never writing any Cheesepie stories just to make the shippers happy. I really look forward to the writers of MLP seeing this, and changing for the better by granting wishes of their fans, especially making the other opposite sex couples cannon with biological children.
In Ponyville, a friendly village where most of the heroes of Equestria settle and live, a pink Earth Pony named Pinkie Pie was just receiving her mail from her mailbox outside Sugar Cube Corner. The next thing every creature nearby knew and heard was Pinkie’s crazy scream.
“WHAT?! Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh!” the pink pony exclaimed, excitedly, before inhaling. “CHEESE SANDWICH IS VISITING ME NEXT WEEK!” she exclaimed, in a volume loud enough for every creature in town to hear.
“Cheese Sandwich is visiting?” asked Fluttershy, one of Pinkie Pie’s best friends.
Another one of Pinkie’s best friends, Rarity, commented, “It’s about time you see him again! I mean, you already seen him by yourself, but not the rest of us, and it’s already been forever since he last visited Ponyville!”
“And I bet you just can’t wait to get partying with him,” Applejack added.
“Yeah, you two threw me one of the best birthday parties, ever!” Rainbow Dash recalled.
“And his visit’s going to be a BLAST!” Pinkie Pie ended, firing her confetti canon.
“Cheese Sandwich?” Starlight Glimmer asked, “Is he the super party pony you all told me about not long before I became Headmare of Twilight’s School of Friendship?”
“Of course he is!” Pinkie Pie replied in her normal tone, bore switching to her excited tone, “Cheese Sandwich’s going to visit next week, and I can’t wait to celebrate it with the biggest, loudest, the craziest party EVER!”
“But isn’t it just a friendly visit?” Starlight pointed out.
“It may be a friendly visit for a normal pony,” Pinkie explained, “But to a party pony, it’s a huge event worth [/I]celebrating!” Pinkie blew a party horn immediately after finishing her sentence.
Blinded by her happiness and thoughts of Cheese Sandwich visiting, Pinkie was completely oblivious to the concern expressions on her friends’ faces.
The next day, Pinkie Pie had gathered all of her best Ponyville friends, and their top students, the Young Six.
“Alright, every creature!” Pinkie Pie announced, “In a few days, an old super party pony friend of mine will be coming to Ponyville, to visit me, and I need everything to be perfect for his visit!”
“Um, quick question?” Smolder, the dragon student raised her claw, “Is it a need, or is it really a want, for things to be perfect? I mean, one of the lessons former Headmare Twilight taught before she retired as Headmare, was: Perfection is not as good as it sounds, so it is not really considered a need.”
Every creature who heard Smolder started wondering who to listen to, before Pinkie interfered, “Oh, Smolder, please! It’s only once in a blue moon that we ponies...I mean creatures put on huge parties.”
“It’s going to be a huge party?” Silverstream, the hyperactive hippogriff gasped in excitement, “Why didn’t you say so?!”
“She just did,” Gallus the griffon told his girlfriend.
“Cheese Sandwich barely visitsPonyville! So that’s why his visit has to be special!” Pinkie explained, before another one of the Young Six interrupted her speech.
“Yona not understand. Cheese is no prince nor princess. He ain’t celebrity either. Why would his visit be such a big deal if he’s just a pony?” Yona asked, speaking in third creature, as usual.
“Well... that’s because he’s a specialfriend to me...” Pinkie stuttered, slightly brushing before another interruption.
“Why are you starting to blush, Professor Pinkie Pie?” Ocellus the changeling asked.
“Yeah, you said that Cheese is just your special friend...” Sandbar the Earth Pony began, before gasping, “Or is he your special...”
Before the teenaged pony could finish his sentence, his Laughter Teacher prevented him by placing her hoof on his mouth, as she clarified, “Cheese and I are just party pony special pals! Now if that’s the last interruption, I got to get to planning his visit.”
Pinkie Pie then went on to revealing her plans for Cheese’s visit by showing every creature a large paper that had the plans all written and drawn over it.
“Rainbow Dash, get your Wonderbolts to perform a show, Rarity, you’ll make the outfits for every creature to wear, Applejack, you get some apples ready for the snacks! Fluttershy, ensure that Discord doesn’t ruin anything! And students, get the whole school ready.”Pinkie Pie ordered.
“Are those a little extreme?” Starlight asked, only to not make a difference.
“They are not! Now move out!” Pinkie commanded, blowing her party whistle as if it was a drill sergeant’s whistle.
It was not long before all of Ponyville knew about Cheese Sandwich’s visit and got involved. The Cakes were forced to bake a huge cheesecake, and dress their kids in clothes with images of cheese. Doctor Whooves was forced to keep his science stuff out of view, to prevent them from causing commotion, while keeping an eye on his girlfriend Derpy’s every move. Lyra and Bon-Bon had to put up the decor, while the Cutie Mark Crusaders ensure everything goes fine whenever Pinkie was absent.
“That’s right every creature!” Pinkie told the crowd, as she observed them doing their preparation jobs.
“Now keep doing your jobs!” she shouted, only to hear groans from some of the creatures helping.
“Was that a couple of groans I just heard?!” Pinkie dramatically asked.
“No,” a stallion nearby replied, in a scared tone.
“Then get going!” Pinkie crazily shouted, forcing every creature back to work.
At the Wonderbolts Academy, Rainbow Dash got complains from the Wonderbolts as they did not see anything important about Cheese Sandwich’s visit.
“A pony visit is nothing special, Rainbow Dash!” Spitfire told the rainbow-maned pegasus.
“I know, but my friend Pinkie is totally crazy about it!” Rainbow argued, “She’s even gotten all of Ponyville involved! And you know how hard she works on her parties!”
“Pinkie Pie, huh?” Surprise asked, “I know her. But not as you do, Crash. When I was a filly, my parents took me down to Ponyville to have Pinkie throw my eleventh birthday party, and boy was it big. Pinkie got all my favourite food, games and friends ready. She taught me how to surprise others and have a sense of humour. The main point is, Pinkie Pie really does work hard on her parties, as they always are the biggest ones every creature has ever seen.”
“And she’s so into them, and would go mad on any creature who don’t do their part! Please, you know that she saved all of Equestria, and met her before.” Rainbow pleaded.
Spitfire gave in, “Alright, Dash. We’ll help as long as it’s not as complicated as the coronation show.”
At Carousel Boutique, Rarity was stressed than ever making all the outfits Pinkie ordered, just as Sweetie Belle came in to check on the dresses.
“Hey, Rarity! Came to check on the costumes anddresses for every creature.” Sweetie Belle told her big sister. “So...are the dresses and costumes due today ready?”
“NO!” Rarity shrieked, before explaining in a stressed tone, “Pinkie Pie has obviously gone to insane! How can she expect me to make fifty outfits a day?!”
After finishing her sentence, Rarity dramatically fainted, with her younger sister Sweetie Belle helping her up.
At Sweet Apple Acres, Sugar Belle was repeatedly making treats as if she was a machine. Big Mac, Sugar Belle’s husband, entered the barn with a wagon of apples for Cheese’s visit. Apple Bloom, Big Mac and Applejack’s little sister, was the CMC checking on their preparation.
“Is the Apple Cheese Pie ready for the sample testing?” the CMC’s leader asked her sister-in-law.
“It is.” replied Sugar Belle, showing the pie as proof.
“Great. Because Pinkie said that it is meant to show Cheese that we apples and her pies are welcome to have a new pony involved in our relationships.” Apple Bloom explained.
“This is just ridiculous!” Applejack appeared, saying her thoughts out loud, “Pinkie wanted me to get her a hundred cartons of milk to make cheese in time for Cheese Sandwich’s visit, how in Equestria can I do that?!”
“That’s way beyond impossible!” Sugar Belle exclaimed, “It would probably take all the cows in Equestria to get that much milk!”
“And worst of all, do you think that it’s really necessary?” Applejack asked her family, receiving worried expressions from them.
Starlight raced through Ponyville, in search of one pony: Pinkie Pie. The unicorn needed a chat with the party pony, no matter the probability of not making a difference.
“Pinkie Pie?! Pinkie?! Are you here?!” Starlight called, running all over town.
“Yes, I’m here.” Pinkie replied, coming out of nowhere.
“Good. I found you,” Starlight panted as she said, before resuming, “Listen, I know that Cheese’s visit means. a lot to you, but this many big plans and preparations are completely unnecessary! And worst of all, too much demanding!”
Every creature who heard Starlight’s words turned their attention to her conversation with Pinkie, who was still ignorant of their resentful feelings towards the preparations.
“WHAT?!” Pinkie shrieked in her crazy tone, “Starlight! I thought I made it clear that a visit means a big party for party ponies!”
“I totally acknowledge that, but you obviously don’t stop to acknowledge how every creature you forced to work for you thinks. I mean, what you ordered is probably all of Equestria’s supply of that! All for a party that is not even quarter as big as Twilight’s coronation!” Starlight pointed out, trying to knock some sense back into Pinkie.
“it’s okay, we can always donate leftovers to all of Equestria after the party!” Pinkie protested.
“But do you think that Cheese will appreciate your actions?” Starlight asked in a serious tone.
“It does not matter, as long as every creature there has a good time.” Pinkie responded, shocking the crowd.
Soon, the day Cheese Sandwich would arrive came. But no creature with the exception of Pinkie Pie was happy.
“Um, why is every creature not excited about the party?” Silverstream asked her best friends.
“Isn’t it obvious? They didn’t like the way Professor Pinkie Pie got them to help her.” Smolder answered.
“Don’t tell me you forgot how it felt when former Headmare Princess Twilight made school boring for every creature.” Gallus told the hippogriff.
“Yona doesn’t like that one bit,” Yona responded to Gallus’ sentence, “And Yona won’t let any creature feel the same!” the teenaged yak attempted to march up to Pinkie and confront her, only to be stopped by Sandbar.
“Whoa, Yona, calm down.” the earth pony told his girlfriend.
“Maybe it’s too late to say anything, because he’s already here!” Ocellus told her friends, while pointing a hoof at Cheese Sandwich.
“Pinkie!” Cheese Sandwich happily called out.
“Cheese Sandwich!” Pinkie excitedly called back, before bouncing around him, telling him, “It’s been forever since you last came to Ponyville, so I decided, to throw you a BIG WELCOME PARTY!”
The Wonderbolts then appeared to put on a performance that was quite short but memorable. After the show, an unhappy Rainbow Dash regrouped with all of her best friends.
“That Wonderbolts show was merely part of your visit,” Pinkie explained to Cheese, completely oblivious to how she just insulted the performers, who jaw-dropped for a second before expressing offended looks.
“Then, that means there are other parts?” Cheese asked, as he followed Pinkie.
“Of course! Next stop is the Cheese Sandwich’s visit Appreciation Fashion Show!” Pinkie announced, leading Cheese to the theatre to watch the show. Despite how small the fillies and young creatures looked from his perspective, Cheese noticed a lack of smiles on their faces, giving him a feeling that they really did not appreciate the occasion.
But before he could utter a word about the models, Pinkie Pie interfered, “Alright! Next stop; The food!”
Upon arriving at the front of Sugar Cube Corner, Cheese could see a huge feast of mouth-watering food, but a lot of creatures with frowns and not smiles.
“Alright, Cheesy!” Pinkie told her party pony pal, before bringing the Cake Family in front of him at the speed of light. “Meet the Cakes! Mr Carrot Cake, Mrs Cupcake, and their adorable little Cake Twins; Pound and Pumpkin Cake! They live here with me, you know!”
Despite how interesting Pinkie was introducing the family, Cheese could notice a thing that Pinkie did not: the Cake Family did not look happy, neither did any creature else.
“Pinkie,” he told the said pony, “I know how much you care about your party, but do you think that every creature else feels the same?”
“What do you mean, Cheesy? They’re all happy about...” Pinkie asked, before turning to look and notice the frowns on every creature’s face.
“Why aren’t they happy? There’s no way a party can be a party without smiles,” Cheese said in a serious tone, “They obviously aren’t having a good time, what did you do?”
“Well, I...” Pinkie stuttered, a second before Discord appeared.
“What did Pinkie do?” the Lord of Chaos asked, before answering his own question, “Well, I’ll show and tell you what she’s done! She forced every creature to help her with ridiculously big crazy demands! That’s what.”
With that, Discord snapped his fingers, showing the crowd countless hologram videos of what Pinkie did during preparations, and how demanding she was towards every creature.
Having seen and learnt about the unpleasant behind-the-party actions, Cheese Sandwich’s attitude towards Pinkie dramatically changed.
“Pinkie,” he confronted, “I can’t believe I have to accept the fact that what you’ve done is what you’ve done, even though it was the one thing I strongly believed that you would never do! Unfortunately, no matter how hard I believed, it was all in vain the whole entire time, being demanding to prepare a party is NOT the party pony way! We should create smiles and entertainment at both parties, and the preparation behind them! Worst of all, you were a terrible listener! You did not listen to your own best friends when they told you something you did not like to hear. Party throwers should be listening towards any and every creature involved in the party, especially when the party was held for some creature else! And since so far, at this party, the only creature you were listening to and caring about was yourself, I can NEVER approve it, and I’m afraid that means...” he stopped for a second, before changing his dramatically serious tone into a sad tone, “I can’t approve YOU neither.”
Every creature watched Cheese sadly walking away, while Pinkie gasped in total shock.
Pinkie Pie sadly reflected on her actions as she walked onto a bridge to stare at her reflection in the river. She felt awful for everything that happened: Being demanding towards every creature, not listening to her friends, and getting called off by her only party pony friend, Cheese Sandwich.
“There you are,” Starlight’s voice said, catching Pinkie’s attention.
The miserable pink pony turned to where she heard the voice to see Starlight and the rest of her best friends looking at her. Instead of being furious and upset, they expressed looks of concern, and were worried.
“We’ve been looking all over for you!” Rainbow Dash explained, “We went back to Sugar Cube Corner after clearing up but found out that you weren’t there!”
“I even went to check theplaces that you might never go!” Rarity added.
“I even got all my animal friends to help find you,” Fluttershy stated.
“And I went all over the farm,” Applejack told tPinkie the truth.
“And I checked the entire Castle! Plus, got Sunburst and Trixie to have the studentssearch the entire school for you!” Starlight ended, before changing the subject, “We were all so worried about you! How are you feeling? Is it a very bad feeling?”
“You...can say that it’s very bad.” Pinkie sadly replied, “I feel terrible for everything! Giving all those crazy orders, Cheese getting mad at me for how I prepared the party...and now I see his point. I was being super awful! Now...the only thing I ever wanted...is to make it up to him...no, make it up to every creature I’ve upset!”
“And I don’t suppose...we can help?” Starlight asked.
“No! This is my mistake!” Pinkie protested.
“Are you sure? I don’t remember that refusing help to make up for a mistake is necessary.” Rainbow Dash responded.
“But it’s my mistake! I should...” Pinkie began, before she stopped herself, “Oh, wait. Cheese said that I’m a terrible listener, and that’s one of my mistakes! Or somewhat a mistake? Whatever, the main point is, I need to make up for being a terrible listener! And to do that,” Pinkie stated, before turning to her friends, “I must learn to become and remain listening towards every creature. Especially my best friends.”
“Aw...” the mares group hugged with Pinkie in the middle.
Once they were finished, Pinkie told her friends, “Alright. I got a lot to make up for, and I would like to hear your ideas, and don’t worry, I’ll listen.”
“Alright, Sugarcube. I believe that maybe, instead of telling every creature what to do, maybe you just let them do what they wanted to do.” Applejack honestly suggests.
“WHAT?! How does that help...” Pinkie asked in her crazy tone, a second before she cleared her throat,”I’m sorry. You may continue,” she respectfully told her friend.
“Thanks for listening,” Applejack responded, “Now, my idea is...”
The horizon was turning orange as the sun was setting. Cheese Sandwich was at the Train Station, in his dramatic black costume, sadly waiting for the train. The fragile silence was suddenly broken by Pinkie Pie’s voice coming out of nowhere.
“Guess what’s happening in Ponyville!” she excitedly shouted, before blowing a party horn.
“I want nothing to do with you,” Cheese seriously replied.
“Look, Cheese Sandwich, I’m so sorry for everything that was not good that happened, especially my behaviour at the party and the preparations, but please! I’m telling you, this time, what you’ll see is Pinkie Pie’s Apology Tour, to make amends for everything.” Pinkie told him, in a cheerful tone during the final part of her speech.
Cheese turned to Pinkie, “This better be good.” he told her in a serious tone.
To Cheese’s surprise, everything changed...for the better. Creatures were roaming about freely, the Apple Family working as for normal. Rarity making spectacular outfits, Rainbow Dash clearing the sky, Fluttershy and Discord dating, every creature being who they were and doing what they liked, just like what real Ponyville was meant to be: A friendly neighbourhood where every creature could relax and make friends.
“Pinkie,” Cheese Sandwich cried, “This is the best thing-to-make-up-for-a-mistake I’ve ever seen!”
Pinkie Pie was surprised, before she let out tears of joy that matched Cheese’s. “Really?! But why?! It’s not anything special, it’s just what a normal evening in Ponyville looks like,” she asked.
“That’s because; I’ve always been travelling all around Equestria throwing parties, but whenever I throw one, I barely got to know what the normal day life in the town looks like, nor feels like, because the presence of a party always changes things. This kept going on and on, until today. With no party, nor gathering, nor any occasion that you’re celebrating, the town is the way it is as for normal, and I finally get to see and feel it!” explained Cheese, in a grateful tone.
“And that’s not all!” Pinkie chirped, “Letting every creature do what they wanted to do as for normal was Applejack’s idea, and it is to make up for forcing them to help and do the things that they did not want to do,” she explained, “And I totally didlisten to my friends, to make up for my mistakes.”
“And you did make up for your mistakes,” Cheese Sandwich responded, “I now officially approve you again, Pinkie Pie!”
The two party ponies then gazed into each other’s eyes like a romantic couple, just before the train’s whistle caught their attention, before it left the station.
“Oh no! Cheese, your train! You missed it! I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to make you lose...” Pinkie apologised, before being cut off by Cheese.
“It’s okay, Pinkie, I don’t need the ride anymore,” he told her in a country-like tone.
“Wait, what?!” Pinkie asked in disbelief.
“I only told you that I will be visiting you, but did not tell you why. Did you ever stop to think about it?” he asked her.
“No, I didn’t. But I’m ready to listen.” Pinkie saluted.
Cheese Sandwich took a deep breath before showing Pinkie a small black box, then opening it, he revealed a shiny proposal ring. Pinkie was tongue tied to see the moment.
“I decided to visit you because I figured, aster how many times you have to travel to see me, it’s time that I travel to see you. You helped me a lot, Pinkie Pie, and we’re a great party pony team. After all this time of being so far apart, I wanted to change that, for the better. So I wanted to ask you,” he took another breath, before resuming, “Will you marry me?”
Pinkie stayed still for a second, before answering, “Cheese Sandwich, I will.”
Pinkie and Cheese were happier than ever at that very moment, as they shared their first romantic hug after getting engaged.
Epilogue: Cheese Sandwich and Pinkie Pie, the Official Couple
“Attention, every creature!” Pinkie Pie shouted, “Guess what? Cheese Sandwich and I just got engaged; we’re getting married!”
Every creature was shocked and stood as still as statues for a second, before cheering in excitement.
“And there’s more!For trying to help me even after how horrible I was to all of you, I decided to have you all involved at the wedding!” Pinkie added to the announcement.
Every creature’s cheers of excitement immediately transformed into screams of fright, as they thought that Pinkie was going to treat them harshly and force them into helping her against their will again.
“Involved in the wedding, as guests.” Pinkie clarified, calming down the crowd, with some creatures heaving sighs of relief.
“Don’t worry, I may invite a lot of guests to my wedding, but I won’t be demanding towards any creature. I Pinkie promise.” the pink pony assured all of Ponyville.
A few days later, the wedding was held at Ponyville’s Town Hall. Princess Twilight Sparkle, being in charge of the occasion as chief witness, stood at the bottom of the wedding arch for the bride and groom to arrive.
All the guests turned to see the newly-weds walk down the red carpet slowly and gracefully. Prince Rutherford, being. a guest in the front row, let out a tear, Princess Skystar, who was in between him and her mother, Queen Novo, could not help but let out tears of joy as well.
When the bride and groom finally made it to the arch, Twilight begun her speech, “Every creature in this crowd, we are gathered here today to celebrate and witness the union of two unique party ponies, with the bride being one of the famous heroines of Equestria, and the pony who brought laughter and joy to our allies beyond Equestria, first helping the griffons, then the yaks, and finally, the hippogriffs. If it weren’t for her, those three races of creatures won’t be who they are today, which proves her actions big and honourable. That’s why we invited all of you to her wedding today, to witness her marriage to Cheese Sandwich.”
Spike, Twilight’s royal advisor held the red pillow with the rings, a moment before Twilight levitated the jewelry to place them on the newly-weds’ hooves.
“I now pronounce you mare, and gentle colt.” the ruler of Equestria announced, before the new couple shared a romantic kiss on the lips.
The Wonderbolts put on a show right after the crowd’s cheering could be heard. The Young Six fired confetti and streamers using Pinkie’s party canons. The Apple Family brought the wagons of food to the crowd, starting the reception.
At the reception, every creature danced a waltz alongside the bride and groom. Yona may not be good at pony dances, but Sandbar allowed her to just be herself and dance the dance she knew best. Gallus and Silverstream twirled each other around while Starlight and Sunburst dance a romantic waltz. Fluttershy helped Discord get through his first dance at a wedding, Rarity and Spike spent time being closer together after he moved away with Twilight, while Rainbow danced with Soarin once again.
Before leaving, Pinkie called out to the crowd, “Every creature, thanks for coming to my wedding! I love you all!”
“And that, Lil’Cheese, is your Mum and Dad’s wedding story,” an older Pinkie Pie told her son, closing a scrapbook in her hooves.
“Looks like you are quite a good babysitter, Pinkie,” Cheese Sandwich told his wife, “I can never put any creature to sleep with my story-telling, another one of my many reasons why I am honoured to have you as my wife.”
“Oh, Cheesy!” Pinkie responded, leaning onto him, “No matter are differences, we are made for one another, party pony pal!”
The married couple then watched their only child sleep peacefully, for a brief moment.
