After a hundred years of lowering and raising the sun and moon, Twilight was getting better at it. When she finished her duty, her headed back into her chambers. Twilight walked over to to her bathroom and removed her royal regalia. She set them down on her rack and placed her crown on the table near the mirror. When she was leaving her bathroom, she caught a glimpse of a picture the was on her desk. It wasn't just any picture, it was one with her and all her friends, back when they were young.

Twilight felt something ache inside of her, as if something had clicked. She started remember fond memories of when she and her friends were the saviors of Equestria, the land she now ruled alone, without her friends.

She remembered the day when one friend had passed, and how they all had a big funeral in her honor. It was Rarity who had passed first. She remembered how Rarity's younger sister, Sweetie Belle, refused to leave the casket for a week. Sweetie Belle, when she finally went home, didn't stop crying for weeks.

Twilight snapped out of her thoughts when she felt something warm and wet running down her face. She put her hoof to her face, catching a tear on it. She hadn't realized she was crying.

She soon gave into the tears and flopped herself across her bed and cried heavily into her pillow. She sobbed and sobbed, soaking the pillow in tears and snot.

Twilight's ears perked up when she heard a knock at the door.

"Princess Twilight? It's me, Luster Dawn. I know it's late, but I just wanted to come see you." Luster said from the other side of the door.

Twilight hooped off her bed and quickly went to go wash her face to clean all the tears. She trotted back to the door and put on her best smile.

"Oh good to see you, Luster." She said to the young alicorn.

"It's good to see you too, Princess Twilight." Luster said nervously looking at her.

"Please Luster, it's just you and me, you don't have to be so formal. Just call me Twilight." She reassured her, opening the door further and letting the younger mare in.

"Okay, Prin- erm, Twilight, I wanted to come check on you. I noticed today when giving your speech to the School of Friendship, you seemed a little...sad." Luster said, not daring to look Twilight in the eye.

"Oh." That was all she could say. she noticed. Twilight said to herself.

"I'm fine, Luster, no need to worry. I appreciate your concern but..I-I'm fine." She choked.

"Twilight, your crying." Luster said looking at her with concern. She reached out a hoof and wiped the tear that had escaped her eye. Luster had grown tall now, almost as tall as Luna was when she ruled with her sister.

She sniffed and looked away from Luster. "I-I miss t-them." She whispered, choking on more tears .

"What was that?" Luster asked moving closer to the crying alicorn.

"I miss them!" Twilight nearly shouted at her.

"I know you do, and so does Equestria. They were-" She was cut off by Twilight.

"You don't understand, Luster! Equestria...Equestria never k-knew them like I did." Twilight's tears were now flowing freely as she put her hooves to her head and continued crying.

Luster didn't know what to do in this situation. She was watching her idol, her mentor and the ruler of all the land, crying like a little filly. Twilight was the one who was always there for her. She was the one that taught her 'friendship is magic'. And she was the one that always helped her in times of need, now she had to help her.

"Twilight. I know your sad and you miss your friends, and that's normal! But no pony is ever truly gone. They'll always be here watching you." Luster said trying to comfort the older alicorn.

"I know that, but. I miss them so, so much! We would always do everything together." Twilight said looking at her and smiling weakly, remembering times with her friends. "We would laugh together, make jokes together. Save the world together. We did it all, together!" Twilight's smiled widened.

"They sound like amazing friends." Luster said flashing her a warm smile.

"The best." She replied, now frowning. "But now...but now they're gone and there's nothing I can do about it! You know why? Because I'm immortal!" Twilight yelled and started crying again.

"Sometimes...sometimes I wish Celestia never gave me this darn wings! So I could live normally and die along side my friends!" Twilight said in rage.

Luster gasped. Hearing that Twilight didn't want to be an alicorn shocked her, but she understood. Aging but never growing old. Watching all your loved ones die like that and not see them again. Must of been hard.

"Twilight. I understand your upset. But Celestia made you a princess because she knew that you would be the perfect pony to rule in her place. As much as you hurting, you have to learn to move on sometime." Twilight cringed when she heard that. She knew Luster was right, but it hurt so much.

"I-I don't know if I can, Luster. It's been so hard ruling ever since they died. I can't even wield the elements anymore!" Twilight said, stomping her hoof against the marble floor.

"Then we can find new element bearers." Luster suggested.

"How?" She crooked in response.

"Maybe me and my friends could try..I mean you and your friends never knew you were even connected to the elements until you use them on Nightmare Moon." She said, her voice filled with hope.

"I guess your right." Twilight said to her student.

"And you still have many other friends here supporting you as well! Like Flurry Heart and Princess Cadence." Luster said to her cheerfully.

"Your right. But that doesn't mean I'm going to forget about my friends, I still love them all dearly, but I'm going to try and move on, for the sake of Equestria an myself." She said wiping her tears.

"Hey, I have an idea. Why don't we make a museum in their honor!" Luster suggested with excitment.

"That is a good idea Luster. And we could call it 'The Museum of the Mane Six.'" Twilight walked to her bathroom to ash her face and stepped out when she and gave Luster a hug.

"Thank you, Luster, for everything. Your not only my student, but your my friend too." Twilight said nuzzling the top of Luster's head.

Luster blushed at the compliment. "Thanks you, Twilight, I consider you a friend too."

The mares pulled apart and shared a quick laugh. Twilight escorted Luster out the door and waved.

"Better get to your room now, it's pretty late you know." Twilight joked, giving her student one last hug.

"Will do Twilight. Goodnight!" Luster waved to her mentor and friend.

"Goodnight Luster. Sweet dreams." Twilight waved back before closing her door.

She sighed deeply before smiling to herself. She walked out the balcony door letting the cool night breeze brush against her coat. She looked out into the night sky.

"Goodnight girls." She whispered to the heavens above. She walked back into her room and shut the door with her magic.

That night Twilight slept peacefully, dreaming about her and her friends.
And form outside her door, five angels were watching.

"Goodnight, Twi." They said before disappearing into the night.
