> a garden of friends. > by Midlight > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Chapter 1 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tuesday, Lily's house. Rose-luck woke up when sunshine spilled through the curtains of her bedroom and into her eyes. She sat up in her bed and yawned. Her husband, Lucky Clover, slept peacefully beside her. she leaned over him and planted a kiss on his thyroid, waking him up. "Mornin’ Rosie," He mumbled. Rose smiled. "Good Morning, Clover." She made her way into the kitchen to boil some water. Once the water was ready, She picked up the kettle with her teeth, being careful not to burn herself as she poured the hot water into her teacup. The rosebud steam rose up and into her nostrils, filling her with it's warm scent. She took another cup out and filled it with coffee beans, and adding the water to it, she carried both cups into the dining room and placed the coffee in front of her husband. Lucky was already up and reading his morning newspaper. He smiled when she entered, grabbed her arm, and pulled her in for a kiss, before taking up his newspaper once more. Rose took her seat and took a good sip of tea. "Ahhh, this is nice." She looked out the dining room window over the town of Ponyville. > Chapter 2 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Daisy's Morning. Daisy's humming filled the house, as she cooked up some bacon and eggs. She'd already watered her garden this morning, tidied the living room and dusted the book shelves. Daisy was always an early bird. Golden Grape came into the kitchen and planted a soft kiss on Daisy's bright green mane. "Morning, Daisy Duck." He wrapped his arm around her for a hug, before headed for the bathroom. Daisy smiled. The pet name: Daisy Duck, was first used when her now husband and herself were still dating. It was not long after Golden's divorce that he and Daisy started dating. After that, she was caught quacking like a duck. In exchange, Daisy called Golden, Quacky Grape. Strawberry, Daisy's stepdaughter came running into the dinning room carrying a basket of strawberries in between her teeth. "Ary 'aithy, I 'o ' 'om 'or 'errieth!" "Hmm?" Daisy raised an eyebrow at the little pale, yellow filly. Strawberry placed the basket on the dining table and repeated what she said. "I Got more berries!" "That's great, honey." Strawberry, or B.Berry, the B standing for Baby, had a talent much like her mother, Berry Punch. On her pale, yellow flank, she had a pyramid of strawberries, the bottom two were a dark purple, like her mane and tail, and one red strawberry topped it. She called her stepmother, Aunty Daisy, much to Daisy's disappointment. The filly had pink eyes like her mother, and she loved gardening, so Daisy gave her a little patch in her garden to plant her berry bushes. Golden came back into the dining room and hugged his Daughter. "Good Morning, B.Berry, how are you?" He asked headed to the refrigerator. "I'm good," she chirped. "You should and have seen the sunrise this morning, it was beautiful! The colors all matched with my mane! Can tomorrow be the same way, Aunty Daisy?" "You'll have to ask Princess Celestia that, sweetie?" "Why?" The filly frowned. Daisy and Golden made eye contact and smiled at the filly. "Well B, the Princess raises the sun, so if you want tomorrow to be like today, you'll have to ask her," Golden explained. "Oh, okay!" Daisy entered the kitchen, and returned, carrying the pan of bacon and eggs and toast upon toast. Golden joined her with the milk and they all sat down for breakfast. > Chapter 3 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lily Valley's Morning. "HURRAGAH!" Lily leant away from the Toilet bowl after filling it with another Vomit. Morning sickness was the worst part of pregnancy in Her opinion. She was two months pregnant, it was too early to tell yet but, she knew it was a Filly inside her. "There There, Sweetie heart." she said rubbing her belly. Lily joined her son in the kitchen, just as he was finishing up his Breakfast. "Where's your Father?" She asked the colt. "He's gone to work, can I play outside for a while, before I go to school?" He Gave her his yellow puppy dog eyes that she couldn't resist. "Alright." She sighed. "Wait, Melody Hills have you done your homework?" She shouted after her son, but he was already out of ear shot. His cutie mark sure stood for something. Despite his name, Mel had a green lightning bolt upon his grey flank. He was the fastest earth pony colt in his class, his only competition was a filly named: Thunder Bolt, the daughter of Sunshower Raindrops. She was a pegasus filly with the speed of her mother [who was a wonderbolt.] Lily walked Mel to school, returned home and began to set up for the Tea party later on with her two best friends: Daisy and RoseLuck. She cleaned the outdoors table and made up a couple pots of tea. Watering her garden again, she was content and decided she devoured a cup of joe. > Chapter 4 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Roseluck arrives. Rose kissed Clover goodbye at the gate as he headed off to work. As she did she spotted Lily returning home from dropping her son at school. She waved at her friend and neighbor.lily smiled in return waving as well. Rose would have loved to walk her child to school. Being neighbors, Lily and herself could have walked with each other. But Rose had one problem. She was barren. Which meant she wouldn't be seeing one of her own foals any day soon. And probably never. Rose sighed. She slowly made her way back to her home, to make a couple cookies before heading next door. Rose walked up the familiar pathway of her friend: Lily Valley's house. All around her were bushes of flowers and tall shading trees. Much like her own front garden, the flowers were simply everywhere, but for Rose, they were Roses. Not lilies. Rose had a saddle bag, one side filled with cookies and a bouquet of freshly picked, white, Roses in the other. Rose was often giving away roses. Unlike her two best friend's, her garden had never been trampled or dug up by foals, which meant she had more than enough roses to give to anyone she met. In a way she was jealous of her friends. As she approached the door, she took a deep breath, the scent of lilies filling her nostrils. As soon as she knocked on the pink, wooden, door it was opened. "Rose! Do come in, the back garden is already." Lily wrapped her arms around Rose's pale yellow shoulders and roped her friend into a hug. "Good morning, Lily. I have been looking forward to this tuesday." Rose smiled as she entered her friends home. It smelled of many things. Flowers [of course], food, books, carpet and children. The first room was a living room, which was connected, by a big open section, to the dining room then kitchen. The room had more sofa's then needed but Lily didn't often go to the furniture store without returning with some type of unneeded piece. There were countless amounts of flower pots filled with both Lilies, Daisies and Roses, roses she had given her in the past. On the wall to the Rose’s left was the door that lent to the bedrooms. The room had changed since Rose was here last but probably because of Melody Hills' running indoors. Rose followed Lily through the living room and the dining room to the back door. Opening, Lily stepped back to let her friend exit first. Once Rose was outside again, the same Lilies sent came to her senses. Lily's garden was filled with trees and lilies, much like the front yard, but also ponds and animals. Lily's backyard was big, Huge even. There was a gisebo, even a BBQ area with fairy lights. In mostly every tree there was a treehouse or fort built around it. In the middle of it all was a seating area. Three chairs were set up around a lovely white table. On the table were three teacups and a pot of tea. Rose took out her cookies and put them on a plate, by the tea pot. "Oh, how lovely!" Lily smiled at the cookies, not waiting to try one. "Mmmm." Rose looked around, taking in the wonder of her friend's garden. Despite having a reless Colt, a superstitious husband and another Baby on the way, Lily always seemed to have time to keep her garden in tip top shape. "I do love it here." Lily blushed a little. Her friends always said that. "I really do. I could sit out here forever if i hadn't anything else to do." Rose aproshed a little bunny but it ran away from her. "Ah, well. It's nothing compared to your garden." "Oh, my garden stinks. Literally." Rose and Lily giggled, remembering the time a skunk made it home in Rose's back garden. Rose noticed that one of them was missing. "Where's Daisy?" > Chapter 5 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Daisy arrives After breakfast, Daisy braided B.Berry's deep purple mane and tail. The family walked out the front garden and through the gate. The three walked together until Golden had to turn to head to work. "Bye, Daisy duck." Daisy and Gold kissed, which grossed B.Berry out. "Love you, Quacky Grape." Daisy and B.Berry continued on, heading for the ponyville schoolhouse. They walked in silence. "So, Have you got any Friends at school?" Daisy asked. "Yeah." The conversation ended with an awkward silence. "You know,B.B, you and I aren't very different-" "Yeah, I know." Once again the silence spilled in. "Why don't we spend some time together?" Daisy suggested when the school house came into view. "Yeah, sure." Berry ran ahead to meet up with her friend group. "Have a nice day, honey!" Daisy called after her. She sighed. She really wanted to have a better connection with her Step-daughter. As she continued on her way, towards Lily's home, she stopped at Sugar cube corner to pick up some treats to bring. Exiting with a bag of cupcakes, she bumped into Sunnyflower. "Sorry 'bout tha' Daisy." Sunny apologized. "It's okay Sunny, I wasn't looking where I was going." "So where are you headed?" "To Lily's." "Oh, what are you doing there?" Sunny dusted off her pink wings and wonderbolt outfit. "Just catching up with the girls. Would you like to join me? I'm sure they wouldn't mind." Daisy offered. "Oh no, I wouldn't wanna intrude And besides I'm busy today." Daisy smiled. "Well, you must join us next tuesday." When Daisy finally arrived at Lily's house, she knocked on the door and got no response. She knocked again but still no one answered. 'they must be around the back already.' Daisy smiled, rolling her eyes. Lily and Rose were Neighbors. They saw each other more often, but it also meant Daisy was usually the last to the party when it was hosted at either of their houses. She went back through the gate and over to Rose's yard. Opening the gate and walking through the neat garden of roses, she opened the door which she knew was going to be unlocked. Walking through the "Model Citizen" kind of home and opening the back door. Walking into the yard, Daisy could already hear her Friends laughing and chatting next door. Daisy spotted them and leaned on the fence by them. "Hello, Hello, Hello. Starting without me, I see?" Rose and Lily's ears pricked up and they turned around. "Daisy! You finally joined us!" Lily smiled. "Did I forget to lock my door again?" Rose scratched her forehead. > Chapter 6 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gossip. Once all three Mares were seated and had snacks and Tea, they began to chat. "Did you hear that his cheerilee is getting wed?" Lily smiled. "yes. My sister is a lovely pony, I'm sure her wedding will be great." Daisy took a bite of Rose's homemade cookies. "Hmmm! Rosie, these are delicious." Rose blushed. "thank you, D.d." Sunny Flower's lover? told by Daisy. Sunnyflower Woke up on Tuesday morning, ready to start the day when she felt something trying to make its way up and out of her body.  rushed to the bathroom and threw up in the toilet bowl. "that's odd. i didn't feel sick yesterday. was it something i ate?" she threw up a couple more times before she felt relieved. "Hmm. maybe i've just got a tummy bug." Sunny cleaned herself up. She washed her face, cleaned her mouth out with mouthwash and flushed the toilet. Sunny made her way downstairs to make a small breakfast. "i hope i can keep it down." Sunny began making some porridge. Sunny held her hooves to her mouth as she felt another load of half digested food rushing up her throat. Sunny didn't bother to clean up when she left the Spew filled toilet. "Maybe i should just have a banana." Later on in the day, Sunny felt fine, like she hadn't been sick at all. She decided to head into town to buy some groceries. tieing her golden hair into a high ponytail, she stretched her pink wings and took off into the skies. as Sunny looked over ponyville from her bird's eye view, she spotted her favorite cake shop, sugar cube corner, down below. "I'm hungry, maybe I'll get a Cupcake." Sunny bent her wings back as she started diving towards the bakery. she stopped as she spotted her sister, Helia. Helia looked very similar to Sunny, they both had Sunflower cutie marks, both had golden manes and tails except Helia had a greenish blue coat whereas sunny's was pink. Sunny flew down to her. "hello, Helly!" "Sunny!" Helia wrapped her arms around her sister and squeezed her tight. "nice to see you." Helia's pupil's shrunk to the size of pebbles. "What?" Sunny looked over her shoulder, and there, hanging over the side of a rooftop was her niece, Swift feather. "Swift, get down from there right now!" Helia soon disappeared after her reckless daughter. Sunny walked towards the bakery, thinking about something or other when she crashed into something. that something was Daisy. "sorry 'bout tha' Daisy." "it's okay sunny i wasn't looking where i was going." Daisy flicked her green hair out of her eyes. "where you headed?"
