It was another fine day in Canterlot, everypony was doing their everyday thing. Some were opening  their daily businesses, some were trading goods in the trade markets and others were talking to their friends or business workers.  This day was going to be glorious, especially for Princess Celestia, Twilight, and Spike. 

Earlier that day, Princess Celestia had gotten a letter from a small Kingdom in the north asking for peace treaty proposal between the two kingdoms alongside the Dragon Lands.  And Celestia sent a letter to  Twilight  to ask for her help to make this treaty possible between them.

“So, from what you’re saying a kingdom up north somewhere near the Crystal Empire and Yakyakistan sent you a letter for a peace treaty?” Twilight said.

Celestia nodded as they both walked down the hall of the castle. “Yes Twilight. From what the letter said, Queen Juniper Queen of the Ice Dragon, the ruler of this kingdom, has heard that we have made peace with the dragons in the dragon lands. Her kingdom is currently having a hard time on its own. So she wants her kingdom to make peace with both Equestria and the dragon lands as well,” Celestia said.

“So Ember is coming too?” Spike asked with a little hope in his eyes.

“Yes. I sent a letter to her before I sent one to you both. She’s already here and waiting in the throne room.” Celestia said

Spike smiled with joy to see Ember again and also help both kingdoms form a treaty with a new kingdom. But his smile dropped when Princess Celestia spoke again, “However, the queen of this new kingdom is an ice dragon.”
“ Wait, can dragon even breath Ice. From what I heard us dragon are cold-blooded and would, you know, die if we stayed in the cold for too long.” Spike in confusion.

Twilight who was writing down information that Celestia had said, looked to Spike and said, “Well Spike, from what I’ve read there are some dragons outside of Equestria that have different elemental breaths from fire to ice. I didn’t know if it was true until now. There is so much to learn from them and how they are different from fire dragons. Like there cult race, what they eat and how they live. Oh so much to learn,” Twilight  said going into her “get to study something new” mode as Spike give her his usual look.

Celestia giggle at this as they reach the throne room. “Well. What Twilight’s trying to say Spike, is that there are some dragons out there that have many abilities that ponies don’t know about. But I'm glad that Queen Juniper wants to make peace with us and with Lord Ember.”

All three of them entered the throne room where they saw a light blue dragon waiting for them. 

“Ember!” Spike said running up to the older dragoness and hugging her. Ember return the hug, after gotten used to ponies mostly greeting friends by hugging. “Hey Spike. How you doing?” Ember asked.

“I'm good. If you’re going to ask, Smolder is doing ok.” Spike said.

“Thank you,” Ember said before looking up to Twilight and Celestia “Greetings Twilight, Princess Celestia.”

“Hey, Ember,” Twilight responded.

Then Ember looked at Celestia. “So when is the Ice Dragon Queen going to be here?” Ember asked.

“Well, she didn't say when she is going to be here. But Queen Juniper said she is going to be here just before noon or less,” Celestia said. “She said she was bringing her son along, so it may take some time.”

Ember nodded. “Well, can't wait to meet her. My dad told me about their ice kingdom. But I always thought it was a myth or something.”

“Until today?” Twilight asked.

“Til today. I don’t mind having them as allies. I always say, us dragon need to stay together.”

All Twilight, Spike, and Celestia look at her with a blank stare. They’ve never heard her say that before. “I don’t remember you saying that before Ember.” Spike said.

Ember just shrugged her shoulders. “Yeah. Just started saying  it today.”

Before anyone could say something else, a guard entered the throne room. “Princess? Queen Juniper have arrival and is requesting to entry.”

Celestia just smiled as she walked to her throne. “Well then, let us greet our guests,” she said as she sat down on her throne. “Bring them in."

The guard bowed before heading back out the door. Ember, Spike, and Twilight walked and stopped near the throne and waited excitedly to meet their new guest. Ember didn’t show it, but she was somewhat excited to meet an ice dragon. 

For Spike, he was really excited that he would learn more about his kind and couldn't wait to meet the queen's son. Whoever he was, Spike could guess that his would be around his and Ember age. 

As for Twilight, she was standing there excited since she would learn more about dragon kind and will be the first pony to write a book on ice dragons.

The throne door opened, revealing four white and aqua scale ice dragons. Three adults and one teenager that looked like he was older than Spike but younger than Ember, likely around the same age as Smolder. Two of the adult dragons, from the look of it, were wearing some kind of navy armor that covered most of their bodies. They were standing side by side with the dragon in the middle. Her scales were mostly white with an aqua underbelly. 

She smiled when she saw Celestia, Twilight, Spike, and Ember. "Greetings Princess Celestia," Queen Juniper greeted with a bow. Celestia smiled as she bowed down in return to Juniper, showing respect. Ember, Spike, and Twilight bowed in respect as well. It was the first time meeting an ice dragon so they wanted to make their guest feel welcomed.

"Greetings Queen Juniper. As the Day Princess of Equestria, let me be the first to welcome you to our land," Celestia said with a warm smile as she points her wing to Twilight and the two dragons.

"This is Princess Twilight Sparkle, the Princess of Friendship. And her assistant, Spike."

"Greetings your majesty," Twilight said

"Greetings you ice majesty," Spike said bowing down to the floor making everyone laugh abit. 

"Greetings to you both," Juniper said.

"And this Dragon Lord Ember."

Juniper look at Ember abit before saying, " A bit young, but that’s nice. Hope you do well as Dragon Lord. You remind me of my mother when she was queen."

Ember smile at the comment. "Thank you."

"You are welcome young one. And this is Cross my adopted son." Juniper said using her wing to push the young drake who grumbled under his breath. “Say hello Cross.”

The young drake, an aqua scaled dragon with some white patches, looked away in annoyed.

“Hello.” he said in a moody way.

Spike could tell that Cross didn’t want to be there, so his whispered to Ember, “Hey Ember, is it just me or does Cross seem like he doesn’t want to be here.”

Ember nodded noticing his behavior. “Yeah, seems worse than Smolder when I brought her to the school. Probably this is how young ice dragons act before they reach their adulthood.”

Spike nodded in agreement. “Yea probably. And I don't want to know how bad they get when they get mad.” Spike said having Ember nod in return.

“Now then let's talk about our treaty.” Juniper said.
> Chapter 1 The Meeting

“Now then Queen Juniper,” Princess Celestia started. “Tell us the reason why you want to form this treaty between our nations?”

Queen Juniper smiled a bit. 

“Well,” She started “I have a few reasons, so it won't take long.”

As Queen Juniper listed off many reasons why they should form an alliance, Cross let out a small sigh before moving away from his adopted mother's side. Cross was not the type of dragon that attends meetings. So he went over to look at some windows that were in the throne room. He had to admit that these windows are well done here. Each  had their own meaning and story behind them. It reminded him of some that he saw before entering the throne room. Like the one window of six ponies defeating a draconequus. He couldn't remember the name but he knew about the history of the draconequus.

“And we could teach some ponies and none ice dragons how to use Ice magic during the cold season,” Juniper finishes getting Cross attention.

Twilight, who was writing the information, was very amazed by what she heard from the ice dragon queen. Using ice to keep warm in cold weather can be very useful for those who are going to travel in cold areas like Yakyakistan. 

“Wow, I didn't know you could use ice to keep warm from the cold. Then again they are not a lot of ice users in equestria that use this skill,” Spike commented  

“Yea, it's like how fire dragons use their flame to keep warm but in the other way around,” Ember said.

“Thank you for the comment Spike, Ember,” Juniper said to them as they, smiling in return.

“Also, I agree with Spike, there have not been a lot of ice magic users since equestria was founded. But you teaching some of my subjects how to use it can be useful when we need it,” Celestia said. “The last pony I knew that used ice magic lived before the fall of the crystal empire.”

“I think I heard a story about that pony. I think my grandfather knew that pony before he passed,” Jupier said

“Really?” Celestia ask as Juniper nodded 

“Yes and my granddad is no liar. He was one of those who don’t lie to the children or grandchildren,” Juniper said

“Same here but with my mom,” Celetia said

Twilight, along with Spike and Ember, looked as the two rulers talked about each other. They saw two rulers getting along instead of fighting. But for Cross, he just rolled his eyes.

“Well Queen Juniper. I think these are great ideas,” Twilight said. “I don’t know what to give in return. But I think I have an idea that will help both nations. Before I say them, do you have anything to give to Queen Juniper, Ember?”

Ember just shrugged. “I do but it may take some time since. I am the lord of  the fire dragons and she is the queen of ice dragons. There are tons of things we need to talk about between our nations.”

“I agree, ice and fire tend not to get allowed since they are completely opposite from each other. But then again, I heard and probably saw some ice flame dragon,” Juniper said.

This made Twilight’s eyes widen a bit when she said ice flame dragon. She read a book about dragons having a single element, but a dragon having dual elements is a rare and interesting thing to write down. “So you're saying there is a dragon that has both ice and fire?” Twilight asked.

Juniper nodded. “Yes, but we are getting off topic. What are you gonna ask me to return to my kingdom?”

Twilight realizes she is getting off topic and blush in embarrassment. She cleared her throat and gave her notes to Spike. “Well, we make allies and friendship with other nations over the years and as the Princess of Friendship it is my job to teach and spread friendship. So to make my job easier I opened a school that teaches all creatures to take in friendship and tell their nation how powerful friendship really is.”

Juniper looks at her with a pleased look knowing where she is taking this. “So you are asking me to send one of my subjects to your school?” Juniper ask

Twilight nods as Princess Celestia smiles at her former student. “She’s correct. Thanks to her, we have many allies from Yak to Hippogriff. So if it’s not too much trouble to send a young ice dragon to her school,” Celestia said as juniper thought for a minute

Cross, who was behind Juniper, stepped up beside her. “So you are asking some ice dragon around my age to go to your school?” Cross ask

Twilight nodded with a smile. “Yes I am. Are you interested in joining the school?” 

Cross pointed his tail at his adopted mother. “Ask her, She mostly decides what's best for me. Besides, why would I willingly join a school of weaklings?”

Twilight was taken a back by Cross comment and about to make a comeback before hearing Juniper sighs as she pulled Cross by his tail. “Cross is right. You need to ask me before Cross can do something.”

“So you answer is?” Twilight asked with a hopeful look.

 “I think it is a good idea for Cross to go. It can help with his social skills and personality. And can help the bond between our nations,” Juniper said as Cross just scoffed.

“Yeah. Don’t get your hopes up,” Cross whispers as Juniper smacked him on the head with her tail.

Twilight has a big smile and is glad to have another creature attend her school. “ Thank you, I won’t fail you, Queen Juniper.”

“I'm sure that you won't,” Juniper said.

Cross nudged Juniper side, getting her attraction.“ Yes Cross?”

“If it's ok I can go now, like to  the pony school. It makes no sense for me to be heard and you know the saying `early birds get the worm.’” Cross said.

Juniper thought for a minute before looking  at Twilight and asked, “Is that ok? I mean Cross it not the type to be in a meeting for a long time. So is it fine for Cross to look around your school.”

Twilight  scratched her chin as she thought. She wanted to give the tour of the school to Cross personally, but then again she is helping with the treaty between three nations. She looked at Cross who has a bored look on his face and can tell he is getting bored from this meeting.

“I don't see why not. Spike would take him to Ponyville to show him where the school is and where they will be starting. Is there anything we need to know beforehand?” Twilight asks with Juniper just smiling at her. 

“No,  just let Cross eat ice and any cold food and he should be fine.” Juniper said

“So no hot food?” Spike ask

“No hot food. Warm, yes. Hot, no.”

Spike nodded as he looked at Ember. “ Ok Ember see ya.” Spike said.

“See yea Spike and tell Smolder I said hi.” Ember said.

Spike smiles as he looks at Twilight. “So you want me to take him to school and to class or to the castle?”

“If the school is still in by the time you get there, he can watch the class, but if not then take him to the castle and show him to his room.”

“Ok I will. Come on, Cross. Let’s get the next train to Ponyville,” Spike said as he walked past Cross.

Cross follows right behind the young dragon as the thorne door opens and closes behind them. Juniper let out a sigh.

“I hope we are doing the right thing Princess Twilight. I know you can handle a dragon but I worry that you can't handle an ice dragon like Cross,” Juniper said.

Twilight smiled to reassure her. “Don't worry I'm sure that he would make many more friends in equestria than in the ice kingdom.”

> Chapter 2

It was another late afternoon in Ponyville, every pony was doing their everyday thing. Some were doing their daily businesses, some were trading goods in the trade markets and others were talking to their friends or business workers. Walking in the sheet of Ponyville was Cross and Spike who just got off of the train and headed to the School of Friendship. It was quiet between the two dragons since they had nothing to talk about. 

To make small talk, Spike asked Cross some questions, mainly on ice dragons and the ice kingdom to learn more about them. But Cross only gives a grunt and says a yes or no to Spike, making the smaller dragon a bit annoyed.  

After a few minutes of walking, Spike and Cross arrived at the School of Friendship. “Well Cross, welcome to the School of Friendship. Where every creature goes to school in harmony,” Spike said with a proud smile.

“I’ve seen better school than this,” Cross said a bit rudely while Spike gave a frown at the comment, but let it pass since he doesn't know fully how the young ice dragon behaved. 

“Now let’s go. It seems the students are going to their last period and I want to give you the tour before the school closes for the day,” Spike said leading Cross inside.

Both dragons headed inside while Spike talked about the history of how the school opened and how each member of the Element of Harmony taught each class based on their element from kindness to magic.  Cross didn't pay attention to what Spike had to say and just looked around the school. The school looked way different than the one in his kingdom. In fact, Cross didn’t go to school back home. Since he spent most of his time living on the sheet of the ice kingdom, or at least, on the border of it before getting adopted.

“And Twilight, the princess you met in Canterlot, She is the headmare and she teaches how important friendship is to Equestria,” Spike finishes before turning to Cross. “So anything you need to ask before I continue with the tour?”

Cross shook his head as he walked up to the little dragon and put his claw on his head. “Thank you, but I get it from here,” Cross said in a bored tone as he walked past Spike.

“Wait, Cross I haven't finished with the tour yet. Besides, I didn’t show you where you're sleeping,” Spike said following Cross.

“I know, but you are boring me with how the school is found and all the friendship things.” Cross said, taking a right in the hallway. “Besides, I think where the sleeping quarters are  

 Spike follows the ice dragon down in each hallway from right to left wondering where Cross is going. And To Spike supplied, both young dragons are in the hallway of the students' sleeping quarters. Spike doesn't know how Cross did it, but he found where all the students from different kingdoms and cities can sleep.

“Wait, how did you know where the sleeping quarters are. I didn't mention them in this area of the school?” Spike ask

“Well, this area seems a bit warmer than the rest of the school. So yeah, I know that the student quarter is here,” Cross said, walk down the hallway to find a room to sleep in.

“Wait, you can tell how cold and how hot each area is?” Spike asks in amazement.

“Well, yes. Us ice dragons have an ability in our eyes to help us to hunt prey in the ice kingdom. Some ice dragons are so skilled with this ability that they can tell how cold and hot each area, building or rooms are,”

“That sounds amazing,” Spike said with the new info of the ice dragon. Which it makes sense for them to have heat vision so they have an easier time to track down their prey up north. Cross stop in front of a room with two student names. ‘Smolder and Silverstream Room’.

“This should do,” Cross said entering the room.

“Hey wait this room already taken,” Spike said, trying to stop him.

“And I don't care, tell this Silverstream or Smolder characters what they have to change rooms.” Cross said before slamming the room on Spike's face.

Spike groans as he walks down the hallway. “Twilight is not gonna like when she heard about this,” Spike said. 

Inside the room Cross sighs as he leads his back to the door and falls to the floor. It has been stressful these past few hours from arrival in a warm land he is not used to, to all the way to this school. It is not like he handles other dragons or ponies since he spends most of his time alone and not talking to anyone unless they ask him something. But now all what Cross could do right now is to go to sleep. As he closes his eyes as he goes to his dream land.

Some Hour later Cross woke up when some the creature tried to open the door that he was leading on. He yawns as he looks out the wisdom to see that the sun is already set and the moon is rising to take its place.

“What do you mean the door is not opening?” A  female voice asks.

“I don’t know. I try to open it, but it won’t,” Another female voice said.

“Well, try harder, maybe it's jam or something,” the first voice said.

With a sigh Cross stood up well rubbing his head  as he  opened the door. On the other side of the door is a pink hippogriff with light blue mane and an orange dragon. Both females look at Cross with a surprised look, wondering what this dragon is doing in their room.

“May I help you?” Cross ask.

“Help us, I should be asking what you are doing in our room!” Smolder yelled at the ice dragon.

Cross rubs his head as he starts to walk out of the room. “Well fire breath, I need to get away from that purple dragon and your room is the best I could work with,” Cross said, making Smolder eye twitch.

“Fire breath!”Smolder yelled as she was about to jump Cross till Silverstream stopped her.

“Whoa stops Smolder. Remember what  professor Fluttershy said.” Silverstream said

“Don’t attack creatures, show them kindness. I know,” Smolder said.

Cross rub his head as he passes them. “Well then I should get going on my nightly walk. So see you two later,” Cross said, walking past them.

“Wait,” SliverStream spoke. “What is your name?”

“Cross, the ice dragon and that's all you need to know,” Cross said, disappearing from their site.

Smolder was in shock when she heard ‘ice dragon’. She snaked her head to make sure she was not dreaming. She knows that Cross was different since she never seen any dragon in the dragon land have any scale pattern like that “Wait he said ice dragon. He is an ice dragon! No wonder he calls me fire breath because he a ice dragon of all things!” Smolder yelled like she was losing her mind.

SilverStream looked at her dragon friend. “Is that a bad thing?” She asked.

“No, in fact ice dragons are somewhat legend and myth to us dragons in dragon land. Since no dragon ever seen them outside of the cold area up north,” Smolder answered.

“Wow. No wonder I felt some chill from him. I thought it was my imagination, but wow a real ice dragon. So can  they breathe under water since ice is made of water,” Sliverstream said with a bit excited to meet an ice dragon and learn more about them.

Smolder shugg “I don’t know ask Cross when we meet him again,” Smolder said going into their room with Sliverstream close behind.
> Chapter 3 - School Day

Cross had to say it, the morning sun was so beautiful in Equestria. So beautiful that he didn't leave the area, he slept in. He had never seen the sun rise so beautiful in his life. Yes, there was a morning sunrise back in the ice kingdom. But it's not seen unless you go near the border of the kingdom.

But, now in a kingdom with no snow or ice, Cross saw the beauty of the sunrise. But it had to be cut short since he had to go to that school that Queen Juniper sent him to. He didn't want to go, but the ponies who ran the school would come looking for him again. And that would be as annoying as a blizzard thunderstorm during the winter time.

Cross looked over to the School of Friendship. He was not too far from the school, yet not so close. He wondered why ponies considered friendship so important. Yeah, it's good to have good relationships with others. But opening a school to teach friendship a bit overboard.

Cross scoffed a bit as he got up from the school and walked slowly to the school. Deteriorated minds these ponies have. Open a school to teach friendship, really, Cross thought to himself.

Cross didn't go to school when he was an orphan, but he knows that there are other schools that teach friendship in their own way. Like a school for army creatures or an art school or an explorer school. Yeah, ponies may like it, but not everycreature wants to learn about friendship.

Cross walked for about 30 minutes to get to the School of Friendship. He didn't want to pay attention, but then again he didn't want a search party to come looking for him like last time. But then again, he wondered what it would be outside the ice kingdom, so this is a start. As the saying goes, 'One step at a time,' and this is the first step to see the outside world. So, he went to the door and slowly opened it. He saw Twilight and Spike talking about something.

Cross smacked his face. "OK, let's do this, Cross," he said as he walked into the school.
"Did you get everything ready for Cross, Spike?" Twilight asked as she looked through her checklist.

"Yeah, Twi. He has everything from notebooks to every color of markers," Spike replied with a smile as he held up a bag full of school supplies.

"Good. We need to make sure he has everything ready for his first day here. And if we do it right, Cross will share his knowledge of friendship with his kingdom," Twilight said with glee, making Spike smile a bit for his pony friend.

Cross almost choked up in his throat when he heard that. No wonder she wants an ice dragon to come to this school. She wants to use him, or any other ice dragon, to spread her 'friendship' to his kingdom. Cross just sighed and rubbed his head, wondering what he got himself into, as he slowly walked past Twilight and Spike, not making a noise. As he was about to enter the hallway, somepony called out his name, making him stop in his tracks.

“Oh, Cross! I am glad you are here. I have your school supplies ready,” Twilight said as she walked up to Cross. “I checked and re-checked everything that you need for your stay at the School of Friendship,” she said with a big smile.

Cross just stood there motionless. Staring down the hallway and not making a sound, he lifted up his tail and made a motion with it, telling them to give him his school supplies. Spike noticed the motion and walked up to Cross and placed the bag on the ice dragon tail. Cross then moved his tail and put the bag on his back. He slowly turned around to look at Twilight and Spike, who had small smiles on their faces and were a bit eager to hear what he had to say.

“Well, thank you for giving me these,” Cross slowly said.

“No, problem,” Spike said.

“Not at all, we are just being generous. That is one of the important aspects of friendship,” Twilight said.

“Yeah, generous,” Cross mumbled through his teeth before speaking up. “What should I do? Anything you need to tell me?” Cross asked.

“Be on time for your classes, don’t cause any trouble and make somes friends,” Twilight said with a big smile.

“That’s it?” Cross asked.

Now, Cross had started his first day at the School of Friendship. All he needed to do was go to his first class. He took out his school schedule to see which class he had first. And what a surprise: his first class was kindness with a pony named Fluttershy. Now, he knew he was going to die young in this world. Kindness was not his strong suit.

“Yup, that’s all you need to do,” Spike said.

Cross took a deep breath while thinking to himself that if he doesn’t die from old age, then this school and everycreature in it will.

“Well, then. I should be off to explore your school. So, see you later, teacher,” Cross said with a wing salute before walking down the hallway.

“And remember to make some friends!” Twilight yelled down the hall as the school bell rang.

So, after a few minutes or so, Cross reached the door of Professor Fluttershy’s classroom. Cross 
could see ponies going into the classroom and getting ready for the first class of the day. Cross stared at the door, wondering if he should go in or not. Cross stood there for a few minutes, looking at the entries.

“Are you planning to go inside?” a quiet voice asked.

Cross turned his head and saw a yellow and pink Pegasus standing there, watching him to see if he was going to go inside or not. Cross glared at her a bit, studying every part of her body to see what type of pony she is.

“Who are you?” he asked.

“Oh, it’s Fluttershy. You must be Cross, Twilight talks so much about you,” Fluttershy said.

Cross stared at Fluttershy before speaking. “How much did she talk about me?” he asked.

“Not much. She only talked about you coming here and some information about ice kingdoms she gained from Queen Juniper. Is it OK with you if I feel your scales?” she asked quietly.

Cross wanted to say ‘no’ to her since he didn’t know her yet. But, then again, he couldn’t since it seemed that this was her first time meeting an ice dragon and she may not get another chance to feel their scales. So, he nodded slowly to give an ‘OK, go ahead,’ look. Little did Cross know that this would be his greatest mistake yet? Because if you say ‘yes’ to a girl, then they will start asking many questions about you. And they will not stop ‘till you, or some dragon, do something.

Fluttershy’s eyes lit up like fireworks for a second, before she put a hoof on Cross, who was taken off guard. Fluttershy felt Cross’ scales for a full minute. She had felt scales of every reptile from jaragua lizards all the way up to Spike and Smolder. But this - Cross’ scales - was different. I mean, really different. Cross’ scales were smooth and cold, way different than fire dragon scales, which were ruff and hard.

“Wow, your scales are so smooth and cold. No wonder you are so different from fire dragons. Your scales have changed and formed in this smooth plating to keep you warm in the cold up north. And your white patches on your scales are incarnate. I’ve never seen a dragon who has spots or patches on them before,” Fluttershy said, rubbing and studying Cross’ scales.
Cross was shocked by what Fluttershy had just said. She could tell what type of scales he had and how his scales were formed to help ice dragons to stay warm in the cold. Yes, they are immune to the cold thanks to their element. But it is not just because of their element that they can handle the cold better than other dragons. No, it was their evolution.
For generations, ice dragons have evolved to live in warm areas ‘till the great dragon’s war. The war where all dragons fought each other for power, greed or other things that the dragons wanted. The ice dragons took part in the war. But for a price: they lost lots of ice dragons in the war. So, when the war was over the leader of the ice dragons at the time took all the ice dragons deep up north, so no dragon could harm them ‘till they can repopulate their numbers. Some died since they were used to the very cold environment and there was a lack of food up north, so more ice dragons died from hunger. But, over time, for many generations, the ice dragons grew used to the cold and found a way to satisfy their hunger by eating ice, ice gems and anything else from the icy sea. There is more history behind the ice dragons, but that’s for another day.

“Oh, I have so many questions to ask since this is my first time meeting an ice dragon. Like, what do you eat, how do you sleep, are there different types of ice dragons?” Fluttershy asked with glee on her face.

All Cross could do right then was to let his eye twitch with annoyance because he didn’t know what to say. Cross put his wing on her mouth to make her be quiet. Fluttershy’s eyes wandered for a bit when she felt the wing on her mouth and laughed nervously at her small mistake of asking too many questions.

“Sorry,” was all she could say.

Cross rolled his eyes and started walking into the classroom with Fluttershy walking close behind him. When they entered, they saw everycreature sitting down on the ground with some art supplies and were waiting for Fluttershy to enter the classroom and start the lesson. Cross was about to take a seat, but Fluttershy grabbed his tail. Cross looked at her and growled a bit, but Fluttershy didn’t hear him because her focus was on the class.

“Morning, class,” Fluttershy greeted.

“Morning, Professor Fluttershy,” the class greeted back.

“Today, we have a new student coming to the school. He came all the way from the ice kingdom. Cross, care to introduce yourself?” Fluttershy asked.

Cross looked at her. “You already introduced me,” he said.

“No. I mean, they want to hear it from you,” Fluttershy clarified.

Cross let out an annoyed grunt before saying, “I’m Cross and I’m from the ice kingdom. Happy?” Cross said, bored.

Fluttershy nodded. “Yes. Now, go sit between Silverstream and Ocellus and we’ll start the lesson,” she said.

Cross look over at the students to find this Silverstream and Ocellus.

“Hey Cross over here,” Silverstream spoke, raising up her claw.

Cross saw Silverstream with her claw up in the air waving for him to come over.

“So that her name” Cross thought, walk over to the hippogriff.

Silverstream jumped up from her spot and hugged Cross in excitement. “Do you remember me Cross do ya do ya,” Silverstream said in pure excitement “I sure you remember because we met last night and you gave me your name which means we are friends. But I didn't give you my name so I will give it now. I Silverstream and nice to meet you again Cross,”
Cross was about to rip this girl's heart out till Ocellus came and took Silverstream off of Cross.
“Silverstream I know you're glad you can see Cross again. Still can’t believe you and Smolder telling the truth about him. But you should calm down. Cross seems annoyed for you are hugging him,” Ocellus said.

Silverstream looks at Cross who has an annoyed look on his face. 

“Oh, I sorry Cross. I was just so excited to see you again since you left. And I want to know more about ice dragons since I thought dragons only breath fire,” Silverstream said.

Ocellus nods in agreement. “Yeah, I read so many books on animals, creatures and beyond and I never heard of an ice dragon before. By the way, I Ocellus, I’m sure you already knew that,” Ocellus said with a shy smile.

Cross took in a deep breath and exhaled as he rubbed his forehead. He was about to say something until Fluttershy started speaking.

“Ok class today lesson is how to make a birdhouse,” Fluttershy started. “We are doing this for all the wild birds to have a home to live in and to raise their family,” Fluttershy said as Cross sat down by Ocellus and looked down to see some woods and paint.

“So I want you all to do your best with your work. Now you can begin,” Fluttershy said as every creature began their work.

Cross study his supply as he moves each price of wood around with his tail. Cross  seen wood before, but this wood looks and feels different. Cross lift up the price of wood and smell it. It also smells different and better than the one back at home.

“So this what wood from different trees smell like,” Cross thought.

“Oh, that oak wood,” Ocellus said.

Cross look up at Ocellus with a confused look.
“What?” He ask

Ocellus points at the wood that Cross is holding. “The wood that you are holding. It is from an oak tree,” Ocellus said as she put together her birdhouse. 

Cross looked at her for a second, then looked back at his art supply. He put down his oak wood and raised up his wing with Fluttershy noticed.

“Oh Cross do you need help with your birdhouse?” Fluttershy asks as she walks up to Cross.
“No. I just have a question or maybe it's a request,” Cross said.

“Ok, what are the questions or requests you want to ask?” Fluttershy ask.

“Can I get something to eat since I didn't have lunch or dinner yesterday,” Cross said as he growled with hunger.

“Oh, you poor dear, you didn’t eat anything for that long,” Fluttershy said with worry. “Don’t worry, I'm getting something cold or warm for you to eat.”

Fluttershy flew to the door like she was in the race or something. Before she left, she turned to the class. “Ok class I will be right back. I'm going to get a few things,” Fluttershy said before leaving. 

As she left the class started talking to each other as they worked on their birdhouses. Cross took this opportunity to get up from his spot and walked outside on the class balcony to get some fresh air. Silverstream looked at Cross before talking to Ocellus.

“Hey Ocellus quick question?” Silverstream asks.

“Yes Silverstream,” Ocellus said.

“Do you think Cross is one of those lone wolf types or whatever you call it?” Silverstream said as she rubbed her head as she said the ‘lone wolf’ phrase. “Sorry I just need to get used to saying these types of things since, you know,” Silverstream started.

Ocellus nods from what Silverstream is trying to say. She needs to get used to saying these types of phrases. Like this one time Silverstream thought that ‘sour biscuits’ meant that a pony would eat a sour biscuit. But with some explaining to her it is a type of saying for a pony that baked or cooked use when they mess up on something. So Silverstream is still learning about ponies and their phrases.

“Well hard to tell, but if I have to take a guess. Cross seems like one of those lone wolf types of dragon,” Ocellus said as she started painting her birdhouse.

“Or a lone dragon. Smolder told a bit of dragon history and there have been some lone dragons before,” Silverstream said.

“Or that,” 

Silverstream looked over at Cross spot and saw that Cross didn’t start his birdhouse project. 	The only thing he did was move around the woods.

“It seems Cross is not into building birdhouses is his,” Silverstream said.

Ocellus looked over at Cross art supply. “Yea, it seem so,”

Some time has passed in the classroom and every creature is almost finished with their bird house. All beside Cross. Cross spent most of his class time outside looking into the count yard.

Then Fluttershy entered the classroom with a cold morning gem shake in hoof. 

“Sorry I late everycreature,” Fluttershy said as she looked around for Cross. But didn't see him sitting down with the other students. “Where Cross anyway, I need to give this to him,” Fluttershy ask

Most of the students point to the class balcony. Fluttershy looked where there were pointing and saw Cross standing outside. So Fluttershy walked over to him to give him his gem shake. When Fluttershy got onto the class balcony she could see Cross writing something on a block of ice.

“Cross,” Fluttershy started.

Cross looked up from his ice to see Fluttershy looking at him. He saw the gem shake in her hoof so he got up and walked over to her.

“What are you doing out here alone?” She asked as she walked to Cross.

Cross didn’t say anything but continue his work on his block of ice. Then Cross brought up his tail, motioning it for Fluttershy to give his gem shack with she did by putting it in his tail.

“Well, I don't know what you like, but from what Spike told me you like anything cold, so I give you all sapphire gem milkshake. Hope you like it,” Fluttershy said as Cross started to drink his milkshake which he enjoyed.

Fluttershy looked at Cross ice block to see him making a bird out of it. “Wow, that’s good,” Fluttershy comment

Cross nod as he finishes his meal. “Well, thank you for the meal and thank you,” Cross said, giving it to Fluttershy. “Here you go a bird,” 

“Oh, I couldn't take it beside the ice will melt,” Fluttershy said.

“Don’t worry ice dragon ice will take a few days to melt so put this somewhere cold and it should be fine,” Cross said.

Fluttershy don’t know what to say, but only to take the ice statue from Cross. “Well, not what I ask for. But I let this past since you are just getting used to the school. But next time do what I ask you to do,” Fluttershy said, getting a nod from Cross.
Then the school bell rings 
“Ok everycreature class is over. Put away your birdhouses and go to your next class,” Fluttershy said as everycreature put away their birdhouse and started to leave the classroom.

Then Fluttershy looked back at Cross who were looking back at her. Both stare at each other for over a minute till Cross spoke up.

“If you are free later on I can tell you about ice dragon,” Cross said

Fluttershy eyes lit up with excitement. “Really,” 

“Yea, really,” Cross said.

“Oh, thank you. I really want to know about dragons since back then I used to be afraid of them. Now I have overcome that fear and I want to know about different types of dragon. And you the first,” Fluttershy said.

Cross had a small smile on his face when he heard that. Fluttershy is the first and only pony or any creature that doesn't annoy him as much. But he is a bit worried about the other teacher that works at this school.

“Well then I should get going. See ya teach,” Cross said as his pit up his school bag and walked out of the classroom.

Cross sat at his deck as he listened to Applejack as she taught the class. He wonders why they teach honesty in this school. Kindness he can understand and can handle, but learning about honesty almost made Cross lose it. This made him so annoyed that he almost put a green pony and blue griffon on ice when they tried to greet him. The two almost pee themselves when they saw Cross ‘annoyed ready to kill’ look. So the best option for them to do is to leave Cross alone till he calms down.

Cross looked down at his notebook to see that he only wrote down only one sentence. He must be getting bored from Applejack lesson.  Cross closes his eyes and start drifting to sleep.

“Hey Cross wake up,” A voice by him said as the figure shook him.

Cross opened his eyes and looked up to see the same green pony from earlier looking at him. How didn’t Cross notice him sitting by him. He must be getting bored with this school to not even notice him there or he must be getting hot from all this warm weather.

“Why did you wake me up? It must be important for you to wake me green pony,” Cross said with a low growl at the green pony. 

“First the name Sandbar and I want to make sure you don’t miss class since you are a new student here,” Sandbar said with a smile.

Cross groaned as he rubbed his head before saying. “Who names their child Sandbar? It sounds dumb. Also, I dislike being woken up,”

“First my parents give me my name and it’t not dumb. Second, why didn't you get rest last night?” The green pony asked.

Cross looked at Sandbar before leading back in his chair. “I did get some rest, but this class is not my type to be in,” Cross said before looking around before asking. “Where is your blue feather cat friend? I want to ask him something?”

“His name is Gallus and he is a griffon and why do you want him?” Sandbars ask.

“Yes, I need to ask him an important question,” Cross said looking around the classroom.

“Well, if you need him. Gallus is over there,” Sandbar points to Gallus, who is a few seats down from them.

“Thank,” Cross stood from his seat.

“Cross what are you,” Before Sandbar could finish his sentence. Cross started to yell.

“Yo! Gallus!” Cross short causing the class to look at him.

Gallus looks at the ice dragon with confused and wonders why he calls him.

“Yes,”

Cross flew over to him and landed right in front of him.

“How is my blue buddy doing?” Cross asks.

Gallus looked at him confused before saying. “I'm good,” Gallus said slowly, wondering why now Cross was talking to him. 

Before either could say a word Applejack spoke. “Ok, don’t know what happen but Cross would you kindly go back to you seat we can continue the class,” 

Cross look at the orange earth pony and look back at Gallus. “What makes you different from that Silver chick? You two look the same yet different,”

Gallus stared at Cross for a moment, confused wondering who he was talking about till it hit him. He said Silver chick, the first creature that came to mind is Silverstream. And how can you forget about her? She is like a younger version of Pinkie Pie.

“Oh, Silverstream you mean. We are totally different species. She is a hippogriff and I am a griffon. We may look the same but the differences between us is our back legs and our character.  I would go into more detail, but I need Silverstream so she could tell you more about hippogriffs,” Gallus said.

“Wow, you two look alike, but way different. That's cool. Well not ice cool, but you know what I mean,” Cross said with a smile. Even though he has no plan of making friends with no creatures in this school. He could befriend Gallus since he looks like one of those bad boys and he likes that.

“Thank you. I think you're cool in both ways,” Gallus smiled back.

Applejack cleared her throat to get their attention. “Hate to cut your little talk, but Cross you need to go back to your seat before I will send you to Twilight for holding up my class,” 

Cross looked at Gallus with a ‘Is she seriously’ look with Gallus nodded in reposed knowing what Cross was thinking. Cross look back at the orange pony before saying.

“Ok teaches, I will go back to my seat,” Cross said as he walked to his seat.

“Good, I don’t want to send yo...” Before she could finish. Cross fired his ice breath at the farm pony freezing her in place. The hold class gasped in shock as they saw Applejack in a block of ice with a shocked look on her face.  Cross chuckled a bit at his masterpiece. It felt great that he got to freeze something today. He needed to let out some steam at some creature and freezing Applejack did the work.  Cross turned to Gallus with a smile. 

“Ok Gallus let go and hang out ok,” Cross said, walking out of the classroom.

Gallus blink for a moment before shaking his head to get out of his shock. This is the first time that a student attacked a teacher in the School of Friendship. But hey get to step class and hang with a cool new kid. So it is a win win. 

“Coming Cross,” Gallus said with a smile as he flew after him.

Sandbar looked at his professor covered in ice before looking at the door where the ice dragon and griffon went out of. He is a bit worried  what would have happened if Cross get in a bad mood if some creature insult him. So he need to go and tell Twilight before something bad happen

“I should go and tell Headmare Twilight,” Sandbar said before running out of the classroom.

Both Gallus and Cross were flying through the hallway while laughing.

“I don’t believe you did that. I was planning to skip the next class since it was getting boring and all. But good thing we are in the same class and you froze Professor Applejack. We are home free till lunch,” Gallus said as he flew by Cross.

Cross smiles as he lands and runs down the hallway with the griffon flying above him. It feels great to get out of class. He feels so free and calm. Now he needs to figure out how to leave this school.

“Yeah, we are home free. Where do you want to hang out since I barely know this school and I wasn't paying attention to Spike when he gave the tour of the school,” Cross said.

Gallus thought for a minute before snapping his claw. 

“I think there is one place we should go without getting caught. Follow me,” Gallus flew down the hallway with the ice dragon following right behind him.

Inside of Twilight Office. She and Spike are doing paperwork relating to the school. It's hard, but it's nothing too hard for Twilight to do. This is like homework for her.

“Man, it seems there's more paper here before we left for the meeting yesterday,” Spike said as he put down some paper on the desk.

“And that's why we need to finish all of this paper today,” Twilight said, as she signed some papers.

“By the way, we should make a paper report on Cross. We have all the paper reports on all of the students. I know today is his first day, but it wouldn't hurt to start making them,” Spike said.

Twilight smiled as she finished signing a school paper and put it on a pile of other paperwork. “I guess it won’t hurt to start writing down a paper report on him. Beside, I guess Cross is having a great time here,”

“Yes, Cross will have a great...” Spike started

Before Spike could finish the door open to reveal Sandbar.

“Headmare Twilight!” Sandbar yelled as he entered the room.

“Sandbar what’s wrong?” Twilight asks worried.

“It’s about Cross,” Sandbar said.

Twilight and Spike look at the Sandbar with a worried look.

“What happened to Cross. Is he ok?” Spike asks.

“No, he is ok, the problem is that he put Professor Applejack on ice and left class with Gallus,” Sandbars said.

“Wait, What!” Spike said in shock.

“Why would he do that?” Twilight asks, trying to figure this out.

“Well, I'm not sure why he did it. But I came here to ask you to unfreeze Professor Applejack and find Cross and Gallus,” Sandbar said, as Twilight thought it over. She is not sure why Cross put one of her friends on ice. But when she finds him she will have a talk with him.

“This feels like the first day of school all over again,” Spike said.

Twilight sighs as she gets out of her seat and walks to the door. “Ok, Sandbar takes me to Applejack classroom and tell me every detail about Cross when he was in Cross with you. Spike, go finds Starlight and   looks around for Cross. He and Gallus could not have gone too far,” Twilight order.

Spike nodded as he ran out of the room. Twilight looked at Sandbar with a worried and serious look. 

“Ok Sandbar tell me from the beginning. Why did Cross freeze Applejack?” Twilight asks.

“Well ,you see, when I and Gallus are going to our next class,” Sandbar started explaining what happened.


At the Ponyville lake both Gallus and Cross are taking a swim. It was the place where Gallus and his five best friends went to when they left class.

“So I have to ask. Are ice dragons related to water dragons in some way since you know ice is mainly water but soiled?” Gallus asked.

Cross who is floating on his back laughs a bit at the question. “No, we ice dragons and water dragons are not related in some way. Yes, our elements are almost the same, but we are way different. It's like you asking an earth dragon and a lava dragon if they are related and yes, they are related in some way since lava creates earth when it cools. Or it the other way around,” Cross said as he waved his arm.

“So you saying ice and water dragons are related but not related,” Gallus asks confused.

“Yep, you could say that. Our element may be the same, but this information is too hard for your feather brain to handle,” Cross joked.

“Hey!” Gallus shouts as Cross laughs.

Cross swam back to land and dry him off before looking at Gallus.

“So you have five best friends who are there?” Cross ask.

Gallus thought for a minute before saying. “Well, you met Sandbar, he is a chill and calm dude and fun to hang with.  There Ocellus a book smart changeling. She is shy at first, but when she comes out of her shell she is a good friend to be with. There Yona, a yak that would destroy you if you talk bad about her friends or her yak pride. Trust me, you don’t want to be on her bad side,” 

“Let me guess, you were on the other end of the hammer?” Cross asks with an amused look.

Gallus has a painful look on his face as he covers his family jewel. “Yes, she hit me so hard on my griffon hood that I have to be in the hospital for almost two weeks,” Gallus said in almost pain as Cross laughed.

“I don’t know what you said to her, but I have to say good thing she is not a full grown yak because if she was then you would be in the hospital for more than a week or you may be dead,” Cross said with laughter.

The color on Gallus' face went pale when Cross said that. If Yona was so strong that she could break a wall no problem and he didn't want to know what a full grown Yona would do to him. Or the worst part a full grown male yak would do to him since male ten to be stronger than female for the most part.

“Ok, moving on their Silverstream. She is a hyper hippogriff and want to know anything and everything about anything on land since she live most of her life underwater,”

Cross gives a confused look. “Wait, she lives underwater. I thought hippogriffs  live in on land?” he asks.

“Well, it's a long story, but to make it short, there is this guy who named himself the Storm King that made the hippogriffs go into hiding underwater, but a few months ago the Professor stopped the Storm King and the hippogriffs came out of hiding and started rebuilding their kingdom. Well, I don’t blame her. If I was stuck in one place and no griffon can’t leave the kingdom, then I may want to know everything about the outside world as well,” Gallus said

Cross nod in understanding. He been thought the same thing as Silverstream since almost all the ice dragons was almost killed off on the last dragon wars that the ice dragon have to isolate themselves for many years till  their numbers rise up to a good amount

“I could understand where she was coming from. The only reason I can here is that I want to expire the world since my kingdom was in isolation for thousands of years,” Cross said.

Gallus eye went to the size of breach ball when he heard this. “Wait, your kingdom was in isolation for that long. No wonder Smolder told us that the ice dragons were a legend in the dragon land,” Gallus said.

“Smolder?” Cross asks before relieving who he is talking about. “Oh, you mean firebreath told you about the ice dragons. Well, she is right only a few know about us since only a few ice dragons left the ice kingdom to do their own thing,”

Gallus blink for a second before asking. “Wait, you the one that called Smolder fire breath?” Gallus asks, trying not to laugh.

Cross nods with cause Gallus to laugh. 

“That is so funny no wonder Smolder was in a bad and grumpy mood this morning,” Gallus laughed as Cross lay down on his back.

“Yeah, it's a thing between us dragons. If we have a different element, then we would have a rivalry with each other,” Cross said.

“And since you ice and Smolder fire. You two may have a rivalry with each other,” Gallus said.

“You could say that or we may hate each other as hate enemies,” Cross said.

Before Gallus could ask or say anything. Both ice dragon and griffon could hear footsteps behind them. They turn around to see Spike and a unicorn pony running behind him. Gallus gulp a bit as he stood up. 

“Well, we are so busted,” Gallus said

Cross didn’t say a thing as the young drake and unicorn came to them.

“There you guys are. You know you shouldn’t leave the school ground during school hours,” Starlight scolded.

Cross look at Gallus with a question with a question look as Gallus look at him and notice the question look and understanding what Cross is thinking

“Oh, Cross this is Counselor Starlight. She helps the students with their problem from time to time,” Gallus states as he looks at Starlight. “And sorry, Counselor Starlight but when Cross ask to go out with him I can’t deny a request from him since it would be rude to deny a request,”

Starlight stared at him, then at Cross and back and Gallus. She needs to think about what she would do with them.

“Well, Gallus, your punishment will not be as bad as Cross since he asked you to be with him since he is still new here. But I am not letting you off that easy since you have left class the fourth time this week” Starlight scolded as Gallus looked down at the ground with a bit of shame on his face. Starlight then looked at Cross. “As for Cross, you should have not left class. I know it's your first day, but leaving class and freezing your teacher will not go unpunished,”

Cross put his wing behind his head with a bored look. These ponies can be an ear full if they want to.

“Ok teaches. Take me to your leader,” Cross jokes made Spike and Gallus laugh.

Starlight stared at Cross with an unamused look. “I’m not laughing,”

“I know you don’t,” Cross said as he looked at Gallus. “See you behind bars Gallus,” 

“I see you there. Try to say some ices for me, would you,” Gallus said with a smirk.

Cross chuckled at the joke as he looked back at Starlight.  “Lead the way,”

Starlight sighs as she leads Cross to the school as Spike and Gallus follow behind them. Spike leads in to Gallus so they can whisper without being heard from Starlight or Cross.

“So how was it?” Spike said.

Gallus smile a bit before saying “Well, it was fun. Cross is one of those cool kids. Both in his element and in his character. He even told me that ice dragon may be related to water dragon,”

“Really?”

“Yeah, But I'll tell you later when we have time to talk,” Gallus said.

“Ok remembers to tell me about it ok,” Spike said.

“Ok Spike I sure will,” Gallus said.

After some minutes walking they reached the school to see Twilight waiting at the entrance. She saw them and ran to them.

There you two are,” Twilight said as she looked at Gallus and Cross before asking. “Where did you find them?”

“Well by the lake. It would make sense for Cross to go there since you know he needs to cool down,” Starlight states. “Let give Gallus a light punishment today since it was Cross' idea to leave,”

Twilight nod, knowing she is right.

“Gallus, go back to class and wait for me to call you when I am done with Cross here,” Twilight said, staring at Cross.

Gallus gave a small nod as he walked by Cross. “Good luck you need it,” he said before entering the school.

“And you Cross in my office now,” Twilight said sternly as she turned around and entered the school followed by Starlight and Cross.

After some silence and walking through the hall the trios are onside Twilight office. Cross stood in the middle of the room as Twilight and Starlight stared at him. Cross was unfazed by their stare and had a bored look on his face.

“Cross, you know why you're here,” Twilight said.

“Yes, I know. I put one of your friends on ice big deal,” Cross said.

“The deal is that you can’t put everycreature on ice you know. You may do it in the ice kingdom, but not here in the School of Friendship,” Twilight said glaring at the young ice dragon.

Cross turned his back away to Twilight paying her no mind and annoyed Twilight a bit.

“I don’t know what your problem is but you need to stop,” Twilight said annoyed.

Cross scoffs still not looking at her. Twilight became more annoyed and frustrated at Cross acts.

“Cross,” Starlight stepped up. “I don’t know you for that long. But can tell us why you froze Applejack and if there's a problem we could fix it,” Starlight said.

Cross was silent for a minute before turning to look at them. Cross raised his claw and pointed at Twilight which made her eyes widening a bit.

“Wait, you telling me  that I’m the problem and is the reason you froze Applejack?” Twilight asks in shock. “Why?”

“Well, many reasons,” Cross said, sitting down. “One I dislike you for opening this school to teach friendship. Two, your arrogance to believe friendship will fix everything with it will not because I saw what happens when some creature is trying to be nice. And three, I am not here to learn in your school. I am here to get away from my ‘mom’ so she can't breathe down my back 24/7 and you just like her. I would like to be killed by a fire dragon or be exiled from the kingdom than to be with her,” Cross cross his arm on his chest. “And I can see what you're trying to do. Using me to spread friendships to my kingdoms well, I am not doing it since I am not going back to the ice kingdom ever,”

Twilight and Starlight were in shock when Cross said he was not going back to his kingdom. From the tune of his voice he really dislikes his kingdom and Queen Juniper may be the reason he is in this mood. And Twilight reminded Cross of Juniper is a shocker. What does she remind Cross of Juniper but she would ask that for another day since she needs Queen Juniper to ask this question.

“So you’re saying the reason you froze Applejack because of Twilight reminding you of Queen Juniper. That makes no sense at all,” Starlight said, trying to wrap her mind around what Cross just said.

“Yeah, and why do you dislike Queen Juniper so much? She seems like a nice dragon,” Twilight said.

Cross scoffs. “To you, but not to me. You know the saying, don't judge the book by its cover,” Cross said, standing up. Before Twilight or Starlight could say another word, Cross spoke again. “Are you going to punish me because if you not then I will take leave,”

Twilight cleared her throat and remembered what she was going to do for Cross punishment.

“Well, I've been thinking it over and I thought it would be best for you to be in Starlight office till,” Twilight looked over the school schedule. “Till last period and that would be my class. I thought it would be a nice punishment for you to watch Starlight how she solved the other student problems since you are new here and I don’t want to give a harsh punishment after I just made an alliance with the ice kingdom. And I think it would be best for Starlight to help you with some of your problems so you can settle down nicely in Equestria. Is that ok with you Starlight?” Twilight asks.

Starlight nodded. “Sure, I don’t mind. Besides, I think I have a thing or two that may help Cross with his relationship with Queen Juniper,” 

Twilight smiles as she slaps her hooves. “Good. Now Cross follows,” Twilight started, but stopped because she and Starlight noticed Cross looking at the door behind him and smelling the air that was coming from the door.

They were confused at first why Cross started smelling the air behind, but remember that dragons have stronger noise then  ponies and could smell anything from a mile away. So Cross must be smelling something from the other side of the door.

“Cross, are you smelling something you like or something bothering you?” Twilight asked.

Cross stop and look at Twilight “No it, noting just all these smell is just new that all,”

“Oh, if it's just that then you should follow me to my office till Twilight period comes around. And I may help you with something that may bother you about this school since you are still new,” Starlight said, as she opened the door.

“Yeah, yeah, you are trying to help me. Hope I won’t come up and bite you in the butt,” Cross said, making Starlight blush a bit as Cross exited the room.

Starlight looks at Twilight before saying. “Well, Twilight I think you need to change your teaching plan for your class since Cross may be a tough one. I mean you know more of friendship than me but a word of advice, be careful when you teach him ok,”

Twilight nodded as she took out some notes. “I could change my style of teaching for a few weeks till Cross started to acknowledge how great friendship is. From his character and what he did to Applejack. Cross gets annoyed pretty easily and I not 100% sure how ice dragon acts so I need to be careful since I don’t know if they have mood swing when they are in a warm area,”

Starlight watched Twilight as she went through her notes before shaking her head with a smile and left the offices.

Cross lay on his back as he read a book about friendship. It was very boring in Starlight office and there is nothing for him to do besides reading. When he is not reading a book, Cross will watch Starlight does her work by helping students with their problems. Cross found all these problems pointless since most of these problems are something they could fix. But he has to deal with it for now. As for Starlight, she has to deal with an ice dragon that doesn't give her the time of day. When she asked a question Cross just grunt or scoff at her and he didn’t move from his sport for over a few hours even past lunch. So Starlight thought it would be wise to get him some gems and some other food for the young ice dragon.

The door opens to reveal Starlight with a bucket of gems and different types of items. “Cross, I back and I brought you some gem since you never left my office since you come here,”

Cross let out a grunt as Starlight put down the bucket by him. Starlight stared at him as she let out a sigh.

“Cross ever since you came here, you never said a single word to me,” Starlight said

Cross scoffs as he turns his back to Starlight which makes her groan annoying. She has no knowledge on ice dragons, but it seems that male are so stubborn. Starlight took out a comic and showed it to Cross.

“Look, Cross it a comic. I guess the ice kingdom doesn't have these do they,” Starlight said, as she opened the comic. “It is about a pony with ice power who is trying to defend his home town from a super villain who is trying to take over it,” Starlight shows Cross a picture of a white pony with ice power fighting a supervillain.

Cross look at the comic before going back to reading his book. Well, he is not reading it, he's just looking at the words so he won’t get bored.

Starlight put the comic down and brought out a snow globe. Inside the snow globe, there are two ponies standing on a bridge over a river holding each other's hooves. One pony is cyan and the other is orange and it seems they are deeply in love.

“And look, a snow globe is sure you like this,” Starlight said.

Cross look at Starlight again with a bored look. He got up and looked at the snow globe as Starlight smiled, knowing she got Cross interest.

“You want it?” Starlight asks, as she waves the snow globe in Cross face.

Cross nodded a bit as he looked at the snow globe.

“Well, promise me that you will be nice and don't put a pony on ice from now on,” Starlight said, 
Cross groaned under his breath, knowing what she is trying to do.

“I try but no promise,” Cross said.

Starlight smiled more as she gave Cross the snow globe and placed it in the ice dragon claw. Cross look at the snow globe with great interest. He looked around at the small item trying to figure out how it works. Starlight noticed this and placed her hoof on Cross arm and shook it for him. As she shook his arm and stopped, all the glitters and fake snow flew up inside the snow globe and gently fell down to the bottom. Cross was amazed as he watched the snow globe. He knew it was fake but it was still amazing to watch.

Starlight smiles as she rubs Cross back. She knew Cross disliked Queen Juniper but from what she could see is that a young kid wants to see the world. She doesn't know what they have in the ice kingdom, but she knows that Cross wants to see news places and items beside ice and rock.

“I know you like it. If you are hungry there are some gems and bread for you to eat,” Starlight points at the basket. 

Cross look at the basket before looking at her then back at the basket. He never ate since Fluttershy class so he needed something to eat.  So Cross placed his snow globe in his tail and went to the basket. Like Starlight said, there is bread, water and every blue color gems in the basket. Cross picked up a gem and started eating.

Starlight smiles a bit that Cross is not acting hostile toward her. Cross only freezes ponies that remind him of Queen Juniper or in self-defense. So if Cross opened up more to her or to some creature he trusted he could tell them why he disliked Queen Juniper but that had to wait. As Starlight watched Cross eat, she heard the door open.

“Counselor Starlight,” Smolder said, as he pointed her head in the room.

“Oh, Smolder, do you have a problem you want to talk about?” Starlight asks, knowing why the dragon is here.

Smolder enters the room as she rubs her arm. “Well, Professor Fluttershy sent me here because she notices I am acting grumpy today,” 

“Grumpy, did something happen that made you act like this?” Starlight asks.

“Well, some creature calls me something I really dislike,” Smolder said, with her claws behind her back.

“Really? Who are they and what they call you because I'm going to have a big talk with them,” Starlight said, ready to leave her office.

Before Smolder could say anything Cross walked next to Starlight as he ate his last gem. Smolder saw him and started to growl at him with Cross returning the growl.

“You,” Smolder growled.

“We meet again, firebreath,” Cross growled back.

“We have some unfinished business to do icebreath,” Smolder said, as she and Cross head-butt each other while staring each other in the eyes.

“Whoa, Whoa, Whoa. Break it up,” Starlight said, as she tried to break them up.

But it's no luck even if she uses her magic to break them up. They will not move an inch from their spot. Cross and Smolder are like heavy old ships that are rusting away on the bottom of the sea. Starlight rubs her head as she watches the two young dragons growling at each other.

“Ok, can one of you tell me why you are acting like this?” Starlight asks.

Smolder and Cross stop from what they are doing and look at Starlight with a confused look.

“Wait, you don’t know?” Cross asks confused.

“Yes, I agree with icebreath here. From my knowledge you know some elemental magic, but don’t know any of its history?” Smolder asks.

“Yes, I know elemental magic like fire, crystal and water, but is there something me and Twilight need to know,” Starlight asks.

Both dragons groan as they face palm. It is basic knowledge that every creature knows. 

“Starlight, all creatures know that if two users of different elements like fire and ice or lighting and wind. 60% of the time the two users will hate each other if they meet,” Cross started.

“And the two users can’t even stand each other. First, they will insult each other by giving names, then they will fight each other to the death till one comes out on top,” Smolder finishes.

Starlight is now sweating a bit when she heard this. Two different element users, fighting to the death. Why can’t they become friends? 

“So how can we stop you from killing each other,” Starlight asks, hoping there is a way to stop them from fighting

Cross and Smolder glare at each other before Cross spoke up. “One of the few ways is to use something that both sides are afraid of,”

“And since both of us are not afraid of the same thing.  It's pretty pointless to stop us from fighting each other,” Smolder said, before looking at Cross. “Besides, I don’t mind taking icebreath down,”

Cross scoffs. “Not before I take you down first,” 

Starlight stares at them with disbelief. They are willing to kill each other just because they have different elements. Man, dragons are so confusing sometimes. Before either of them could do anything the school bell rang single it’s time for next class. Starlight looked at the clock in her room and saw it around two.

“Ok, you two it time for the next class. Cross I will show you where Twilight class is so you won’t get lost,” Starlight said.

Smolder and Cross glare at each other for the last time in that room before Smolder turns around and walks out of the room. Cross went to pick up his school bag and put his snow globe in it and put the beg on his back. Cross looks at Starlight motioning her to lead the way.  She nods and walks out of the room, followed by the young ice dragon.

The two were in silence when they walked into the hallway. None saying a word to each other. For Starlight, she was thinking about what Cross and Smolder just said. Elements users fight each other due to the fact that they have different elements.  There must be a peaceful way to stop from fighting without using violence. 

After some minutes walking they reached Twilight classroom.  Starlight turned to Cross with a small smile on his face.

“We're here, Headmare Twilight classroom. Try to enjoy yourself and please don’t put any creature in ice or get in a fight with Smolder,” Starlight, hoping Cross will not freeze more students or professors.

Cross laughs as he opens the door to the classroom and walks in. This classroom looks different than others, he has seen. It seems bigger and can hold more students than other classes. Cross look down the class stair to see all the students are sitting down in their seats and Twilight on some kind of stage. She was looking through her flash card. Cross doesn't know why she has those with her, but it must be important or her to have them. Before Cross could take a step, Smolder came up and crashed into him, causing the two dragons to fall down the stairs and land in front of the little stage. Cross groans a bit before throwing Smolder off his back.

“What was that for?!” Cross yelled at the fire dragon.

Smolder got up from the ground a glare at the ice dragon. “Me, I should be asking you that!”

Twilight and the other students look at the two dragons arguing with each other and are ready to attack each other till Sandbar and Yona get up from their seats and run over to Smolder's side trying to hold her back.

“Whoa, calm down Smolder don’t let him get to you,” Sandbar said, holding Smolder's arm so she wouldn't attack Cross.

Yona was standing between as she looked at Smolder and Cross who was being held back by Gallus and Silverstream.

“Calm down Cross,” Gallus said, as he held Cross back.

“Yes, what’s with you and Smolder. You two were fine last night when you met,” Silverstream said.

“Did Yona miss something,” Yona said, as she looked at the two dragons and stood between them making sure they wouldn’t attack each other. Since she is the biggest and the strongest creature in the school.

“Well, no you didn’t Yona,” Gallus said, as some of his talons began to become ice.

Twilight gets off the stage and walks next to Yona. She smiles at the yak thanking her for standing in the path of the dragons in case they attack each other.

“Ok, you two why are you acting like this,” Twilight demanded.

Both dragons growl as they knock off Sandbar, Gallus and Silverstream off of them and point at each other.

“It's because of ice/fire breath!” Both yelled.

Everycreature beside Gallus was looking at them very confused.

“Wait, correct if Yona wrong, but this is your second meeting with each other,” Yona started

“Third, because we met before we came here,” Cross added.

“And from what hippogriff said, you two never fought each other beforehand. Why now two dragons fight,” Yona finish

“And what made you two each hate each other?” Ocellus ask with Twilight nod in agreement

“Yes, why are you two acting like this? This is a school of making friends not a brawling,” Twilight said

Both dragons crossed their arms and said at the same time. “Because I hate him/her that way,”

Every creature blinked in confusion before Gallus spoke up. “I think what they are trying to say is that it is somewhat in their nature to hate each other since they have different elements,” Gallus said.

“Wait, that's it,” Silverstream said.

“Only reason dragons hate each other is because of their element?” Yona asks, confused.

“That makes no sense at all. Hating each other because you two have different elements,” Sandbar said.

Twilight agreed with Sandbar on the standment. Hating each other just because they have different elements. Queen Juniper and Ember are different, but they don’t hate each other. Why don’t Cross and Smolder just get along.

“I will figure out a way to make you to friend sooner or later, but from now on try to stay away from each other and try not to get into fights,” Twilight said as she walked brace to the stage.

Both dragons scoff as all the students went to their seats like nothing had happened. The young six and Cross together as Smolder and Cross seat at each end of the roll of chairs. Cross took out some books and his snow globe and placed it by him. Yona saw this and asked.

“Is that a snow globe?” The yak asked.

“Yes, it is. I take it this is your first time seeing one?” Cross ask.

“Yes, it is. Yona heard of them, but never had the time  to get one,” Yona said, as she studied the item.

Cross scoffs a bit as he held a pencil in his tail. “So your name Yona,” Cross said.

“Yep, Yona is Yona best yak around and you must be Cross from the ice kingdom. We somewhat neighbor don’t you think,” Yona said 

Cross nods with a smile. He could talk to some creature that is from home yet not from home.

“Yes, it's cool and we tundra creatures need to stay together in warm areas,” Cross said.

“Yes, yak and ice dragon need to stay together since Equestria is a hot place to be in. Trust me, Yona knows,” Yona said with a smile.

Cross before could anything else Twilight took the stage getting every creature's attention. 

“Ok, class today we are talking about the how of time magic,” Twilight said.

Twilight begins the teaching of time magic and how dangerous it is if it lands it the wrong hand.  Everycreature is writing down notes as Twilight talk. Cross smiled a bit as he wrote some notes down. He heard of time magic before and like that time is one of the elements that dragons use. Well, you don’t see time dragons as much as water, fire or nature dragons since time is a very hard element to master and one wrong move would change the timeline of their world or send the user in the endless loop of space and time. 

“And that is why you can’t use time magic. Whatever you change in the past will chance the future,” Twilight finish writing on the broad and turn the students “So any question,”

“Yeah, I have one,” Gallus raised a claw. “Why do you ponies always make something that could end the world? I mean leave it alone and it won’t happen in the first place,” Gallus asked.

“Well, there are many reasons why Starswirl made some of the time spells in the first place. But the reason is that you can’t stop discovering magic. Just like you can’t stop discovering friendship. Friendship is a powerful thing that you could find anywhere,” Twilight said, as the students took more note.

Cross wrote some more notes before looking at Silverstream who was sitting next to Yona. “Hey, Silverstream,” Cross whispers.

Silverstream looked up from her note and looked at Cross.

“After this, do you want to hang out with me when I talk to Fluttershy?” Cross asks.

Not saying a word, Silverstream smiled and nodded at the ice dragon. Even though they don’t know each other for that long they don’t mind each other's company. Cross smiles back before turning to Yona.

“Hey Yona if you don’t mind me asking. But can I take your seat so I can sit next to Silverstream?” Cross ask, whispering

“Sure, Yona doesn’t mind,” Yona whispered back.

Both quietly change seats trying not to get any creature attraction. Cross seat down by Silverstream as she gives a wing hug to Cross.

“So, what are you and Professor Fluttershy gonna be talking about after class?” Silverstream asks.

“Oh, she wants to know the basics about ice dragons since she never met one before,” Cross replied.

“Really? It sounds like her since she loves all creatures’ great and small and seeing you really want her to learn more about ice dragons. I heard rumors that Fluttershy used to be afraid of dragons,” Silverstream said.

Cross gives a confused look. “Wait, she was afraid of dragons. She was excited when she saw me?” Cross ask.

“Well, I don’t know if it's true or not, but I am waiting for the right time to ask her about it,” Silverstream said. 

“If you do tell me when you get an answer,” Cross said, giving his ice dragon grin.

“Sure will,” Silverstream replied as they went back to listening to Twilight lesson.

One Hour later

The bell rang as the student exited the classroom. Cross was walking by Silverstream as she talked about many things that she learned.

“And I was thinking to myself. Since dragons know ice magic, then they may know time magic as well don’t you think,” Silverstream said, with a smile.

Cross laughed as he put his notebook in his bag.

“Well, I don’t know for sure, but it could happen,” Cross replied,

“Hey Silverstream,” the Sandbar voice calls out.

Silverstream and Cross looked and saw Sandbar and his four friends, Gallus, Ocellus, Smolder and Yona standing with him.

“We are handing to the library to studies do you want to come?” Sandbar asks.

Silverstream is about to say yes, but stops to remember that she and Cross have plans to hang out.

“Thank but no thanks. Me and Cross has plans so I see you later today or tomorrow, so bye,” Silverstream said, as she pulled Cross past her five friend and down the hall. The five look down the hallway confused, wondering what plan they have.

“She chose him over us?” Smolder asks. “Cross act like a jerk to me,”

“Well, dragon did act like a jerk to ice dragon,” Yona states.

“Shut it Yona,” Smolder growled.

“I found it weird that Cross doesn't like a complete jerk around Silverstream. Yes, I saw him growl at her this morning, but overall he seemed ok,” Ocellus said.

“I say he is a cool guy but it is scary if you annoy him, one look in his eye and all your body shut down like it was nothing,” Gallus said.

“Really?” Ocellus asked.

“Gallus is right. He growled at us like he was ready to kill and put Professor Applejack on ice,” Sandbar said.

“That is not nice,” Yona said, thinking freezing something is wrong.

“So, why does he like Silverstream? I know her, Cross and I first met each other last night, but why her?” Smolder asks.

The five thought as they wondered why Cross liked Silverstream.

“Maybe Cross finds her pretty,” Gallus said.

“Really?” Smolder said with a dumbfounded look.

“What it could be possible,” Gallus defend with everycreature laugh at him


Cross open Fluttershy classroom door to see her closing packing the class item away for the night. 

“Fluttershy, I'm here to tell you about ice dragons,” Cross said, as he entered the classroom with Silverstream.

Fluttershy noticed them as she placed the last class supply in their place.

“Oh, you early Cross and look like you brought Silverstream with you,” Fluttershy said, walking up to them.

“Yes, I did. She seems cool to hang with and even if she is annoying. She is the one those I can handle,” Cross said.

“Hey!” Silverstream glared at the dragon when he said she is annoyed with Fluttershy and Cross giggle at.

“What, I'm not saying you are annoying,” Cross said with a smile. 

“Still,” Silverstream said, thinking of a comeback to say.

“Well, do you two have anything to do before we start?” Fluttershy asked.

“I find,” Silverstream said, before looking at Cross. “You?”

“I'm good. So where do you want to go to learn about ice dragons?” Cross asks Fluttershy

Fluttershy thought for a moment before taking out a seat from one of the tables.

“Well, I don’t mind being here,” Fluttershy said sitting down. “Besides, you guys may be tried by today's class, am I right?”

As she said this Silverstream dropped on the ground while groaning a bit.

“Yes! I'm so tired! Ever since I met Cross last night I stayed up almost all night  to see if he would return to my and Smolder room came. I know it was a bad idea, but still,” Silverstream groaned.

Fluttershy and Cross stare at Silverstream. She stayed up to see if Cross would come back to her and Smolder room.

“Really?” Cross asked, wondering why she stayed up.

“Well, Silverstream you don’t have to stay up to see Cross again. Beside you met him again didn’t you,” Fluttershy said with a giggle.

Silverstream rolled her eyes as she got up and sat down in the nearest seat.

“I know, but still,” Silverstream said.

“So Cross ever since I felt your scale I want to ask do all ice dragons have smoother scales, then other dragons like Smolder and Spike,” Fluttershy asked.

Cross thought for a moment before nodding “Yup, we do,” Cross said.

“Oh, can I ask a question? Please Professor Fluttershy can I?” ask Silverstream.

“If it's ok with Cross,” Fluttershy said, as she looked at Cross.

“I don’t mind,” Cross said

“Well, I've been thinking. Can an ice dragon mate with a fire dragon?” Silverstream asks.

Cross blushes a bit when he heard this and made him uneasy. He dislikes the idea when an ice dragon and a fire dragon have a love interest to each other. But it could happen since both are still dragons.

“Yes, they can if they choose to,” Cross said.

“And would you mate with Smolder if you have the chance?” Silverstream.

Cross blushes deeply when he heard this. “W-w-w-what!”

“Oh, you have feelings for Smolder?” Fluttershy asks with a smirk.

“No, I don’t  have feeling for firebreath. I would date a pony then date her,” Cross said, with cross arms.

“Oh really. Is that the reason you and Smolder dislike each other? You two are too nervous to show you like each other,” Silverstream said with a smile.

“Can we move on to the next question?” Cross said, trying to move on to the next questions.

“Ok, I will. But I will not stop teasing you about your crush on Smolder,” Silverstream said with Cross glare at her.

“So what’s next?” Cross ask.

“So how do ice dragons take care of their eggs since it’s cold up where you live?” Fluttershy asked.

Cross thought for a moment before saying. “Well, I am not 100% sure how we take care of our egg since I am still young, but to my knowledge, ice dragon eggs need to be in the right cold temperature in order for them to hatch,” Cross said.

“And what would happen if an ice dragon egg was in a place that was warm?” Silverstream asks.

Cross went silent when she asked things and looked around the room. Silverstream noticed his change of mood and knew what he was thinking.

“Oh,” Fluttershy all had to say, knowing that dark truth behind Cross silent at the question.

“Ok, next,” Cross said.

The trio talk for an hour or two as Silverstream and Fluttershy ask Cross questions that they want to know. They learn quite a bit on ice dragons and they are not that different from fire dragons.

“So, the snow element is the same as the ice element, but there is a big difference between the two,” Silverstream said, trying to wrap her head around the two elements.

“Yup,” Cross nodded

“Wow, it sounds nice to hear that there are sub dragons to the ice dragons,” Fluttershy said.

“Yup, those snow dragons are great, but I don’t get to hang with them for many reasons,” Cross said, playing with his tail.

“Why?” Silverstream asks.

“Well, there is no drake for me to hang with. I am more of an explorer as for the snow dragons are more down to earth,” Cross said.

“Well, I think it sounds nice that snow dragons are more chill than most dragons,” Fluttershy said with a smile.

“If you want I could take you there if you want to meet them,” Cross requested.

“That sounds nice. I would be glad to go to your kingdom,” Fluttershy said.

Silverstream looked at the clock to see it was 5:00 so she had to go and do some last miniature studying before retiring for the night.

“Well, as much I want to hang with Cross but I have to go and do some study before it gets dark,” Silverstream said, as she got up from her seat.

Cross nod in agreement “Yeah, as much I want to tell you more about ice dragons. I want to go to my room so no creature could bother me,”

Fluttershy nods, knowing that they have things to do. “Well, it's great to have you two around and hope you enjoy your night,” Fluttershy said, leading the two out of her classroom.

Silverstream looked at Cross with a smile. “Well, it's nice to hang with you Cross and it would be fun to be with you tomorrow,” Silverstream said.

“Yes, you too,” Cross said, as Silverstream walked down the hall while looking at Cross every few seconds before disappearing.

Cross started walking down the hall going to his assigned bedroom. 

“Cross, is it ok, I take you to your room?” Fluttershy asks, wanting to know if he knows where his room is.

“Well, your friend wrote it down, but you could if you want to,” Cross said, as he continued walking with Fluttershy following. The two were quiet when they walked to the student’s bedroom part of the school.  When they arrived Fluttershy led Cross to his room that he was assigned to.

“Well, here your room. I know you are sleeping by yourself, but I think you don’t mind,” Fluttershy said, as they stood outside of Cross room.

“I don’t mind at all. Beside, I don’t mind being alone for a bit,” Cross said as he opened his room and put his bag by his bed and went to the table that was in his room.

“Well, if you get alone begin in here just call me and I try to do something ok,” Fluttershy said, with Cross nodded and started moving his bedroom desk around and Fluttershy close his door to leave Cross in peace
