Bringing Equus back after its accidental destruction
After the inadvertent destruction of Equus, The Christian Fleet has developed a device to resurrect the planet. This will not be an easy task to accomplish, because the team members will be risking their own lives. Will the device work, or was all of the research for nothing?
Neighsay sat in his guest cabin on the Lemurian Star, looking at a photograph from when he became Chancellor in the EEA. He was in deep sorrow because his comrades had not been able to get rescued from Equus before the calamities took their lives. He was startled out of his trance by the intercom beeping.
"Go ahead.", he answered.
"The meeting for resurrecting Equus is about to start.", Twilight reported.
Neighsay made his way to the conference room and took a seat. Brandon gave a rundown of the plan that he and Link had formulated. A team would parachute down from space and place a terraforming device that would restore the planet to its glory as if nothing had ever happened.
"There is one part of this mission that is far more critical than deploying the device. Team members must go to a clear area to be transported back up to the Lemurian Star. The device will release a wave of energy when it detonates. IT WILL KILL YOU! Our calculations say that this device has a 90% chance of working successfully.", Link explained calmly.
"I volunteer to be on the team. I caused the planet to die when I activated the device. I shall make amends for my deeds.", Neighsay responded quickly.
Twilight, Luna and Celestia were the other team members. After beaming the device down to the ground, the team began to gear up.
After the team put on space suits, they climbed into an airlock and awaited the time for launch. Moments later, a timer flashed on and the doors flew open once it read zero. The four were propelled off the ship and they shot towards the planet. Due to toxins in the air from the calamities, Brandon had warned them not to take their helmets off before he sealed the airlock hatch.
"Expect atmospheric penetration in twenty seconds.", Link said over radio.
As they moved closer, gravity began pulling harder and harder on the jumpers. Soon, they broke through the atmosphere and dropped steadily towards the ground. When they were ready, they pulled their chutes. There was a thick cloud-like layer of fumes and smoke which lowered visibility and made it difficult to see. After landing safely and getting up, they began proceeding toward the coordinates where the device was sent.
The journey to the site was not easy. Many areas were unstable and would collapse with the slightest step on it. Visibility was zero due to the thick smokescreen from gases and explosions.
"We have a two-hundred mile stretch between us and the device. We will need to stop every few miles to rest a minute.", Celestia said as she led the way.
They marched over the ruins of Equestria and the lands beyond, stopping to rest every few miles. During their rest breaks, they put up a shield in order to take off their helmets so that they were able to eat or get a drink. The journey through the ruined land was harsh and they ran into many obstacles. For instance, they sometimes had to shimmy across cracks and take running jumps over sinkholes. When climbing over mountains, they were battling strong winds and drastically high amounts of turbulence. There were three times that they almost fell into lava, but they saved themselves with grappling cables.
Two weeks later...
They finally started getting a readout on their scanners. They were only nine yards away from where the device had been placed. Arriving at the device, they began to power it up. Little did they know that a storm was approaching rapidly. After they set the device to resurrect the planet, they started setting the timer. Suddenly a lightning bolt shot towards the device and zapped it. The timer mechanism malfunctioned which would cause the device to detonate prematurely, but they still had approximately enough time to escape. Realizing that the device would detonate in five minutes instead of five hours, they made a run for a high hill nearby with a relatively flat peak.
Arriving at the hill's foot, Celestia instructed everyone to target a ledge that was just below the summit.
"Fire ascension cables NOW!", she cried.
Cables shot towards the ledge and jabbed into the rock. As they made their way up, the storm worsened and it started raining. This slowed them down somewhat, but they pressed on. Eventually, they all felt a shockwave as the device detonated. Twilight's cable came loose and she nearly fell to the ground. Luckily, Neighsay was next to her and managed to catch her. He retracted her cable and fired it at a spot where it would hold tighter. Celestia and Luna, having reached the summit, urged them to hurry because she could see the energy wave from the device approaching hastily. Neighsay lost his footing on a slick spot and fell down. Twilight didn't know that something was wrong until she felt a snag and she had a harder time moving. Then she lost her footing and fell down a few feet. She had no spots where she could grab, and she was stuck.
"Twilight, your cable is tangled on mine, in order to save you, I have to cut myself loose.", Neighsay said sadly.
"I will not let you die, Neighsay.", Twilight replied.
"Twilight, time is running out. He is sacrificing himself to save you.", Luna explained.
Twilight gave Neighsay the "All-Clear" and he wished her luck whenever the planet was brought back. He then pulled out a cutter and clipped the cable off of his harness. Twilight shot to the summit because her cable had stretched and acted like a spring. They radioed Brandon and explained what had happened. Without hesitating, Brandon locked on their locations and beamed them up to the Lemurian Star. As Neighsay fell to the ground, the wave hit him hard and he passed out. The energy from the wave drove deep into his veins and his heart became stiff to the point that it could not beat. To make a long story short, the wave induced a heart attack, which took his life.
After the energy wave spread over the planet, water began flowing again. Forests and jungles started growing back, the cloud layer gradually dissipated, and the towns, cities and kingdoms were instantly repaired as if nothing had ever happened. It took three days for the residual energy to dissipate, but it was no big deal. When everyone was taken down on shuttles, they admired their newly resurrected home with great pleasure. There were still some areas that were not fully repaired by the wave, so Celestia decided that everyone should work together to make everything look good as new. In only two months, Equestria and the lands beyond were fully restored to their glory.
