Hearth’s Warming Eve is one of the best opportunities of the year for friends and family to come together and bring joy and happiness. Whether it was singing Hearth’s Warming carols, having snowball fights, or drinking hot cocoa, everyone in sight had a big smile on their face.

It just so happened that this was going to be Princess Twilight Sparkle’s first Hearth’s Warming Eve since becoming the queen of Equestria. For that matter, once she returned to Ponyville, her friends would see how much she has changed both physically and mentally.

First thing probably anyone would acknowledge about Twilight’s appearance, was the bulge in her stomach. Standing up from her throne to look out the stained window alongside her husband, Beau, the lavender alicorn rubbed her pregnant belly with a happy smile. The doctors had confirmed 2 months ago that the baby was going to be a girl, so just like the couple had agreed on, she would be named Harmony Sparkle.

“There’s a big, beautiful world waiting to greet you, sweetie...” Twilight whispered as she stood in front of Beau, allowing him to hug her from behind. Even though her daughter couldn’t hear, let alone understand anything she said to her, Twilight couldn’t resist pretending that she could.

“And just wait until you see your big sister,” Beau joined in, rubbing his wife’s belly. “I just wish we could have had her earlier so she could see her sister perform at tonight’s show. It would’ve made it extra special.”

“Oh, don’t say such things. I know how you feel, but at least we get to see Moonlight perform with Sunset Shimmer’s son,” Twilight pointed out.

“Searing Shimmer, right? He really seems like a nice boy, not to mention he’s talented.” Beau began thinking back to when Searing first sang at his school talent show. Despite being very young, he left the audience impressed.

“Sometimes I wonder whether Moonlight or Searing Shimmer is better at singing,” Twilight giggled and stroked her belly once again. “I already have confidence that little Harmony here will become a wonderful singer herself.”

“Just like her big sister and beautiful mother,” Beau said, scratching behind Twilight’s ear with one hand, and rubbing her warm belly with the other. His wife tried to pull away since he was starting to tickle her, but Beau kept her close to him.

“O-Okay! P-Please... s-stop!” she giggled. “W-We won’t g-get to watch the... s-show from in... h-here!”

“Alright then,” Beau said, giving her a break. He once again took things seriously and looked at the time. “Okay... if we were to leave for Ponyville now, we should have about an hour before the performance.”

“Then let’s not waste any more time,” Twilight said. She and Beau then head out of the throne room so they could walk down the halls and out the front entrance. They didn’t have to worry about Moonlight since she was playing over at Sunset and Ignis’ place until it was time to register. Spike was more than happy to accompany the girl to Ponyville, since he was going to sign up as well.

Beau and Twilight saw that their chariot was all set and ready to go and so they climbed inside, waiting patiently to head out. Soon, the royal guards carried the chariot off into the air, being careful not to rock it too roughly. Twilight and Beau were excited for tonight’s big show. Not to mention the fact that they’re getting the chance to see their friends again.

It was no surprise to Twilight and Beau that there closest friends were waiting for their arrival, but there were more familiar faces than they expected. The ex-rulers of Equestria, Celestia and Luna managed to beat them to Ponyville, and their husbands and children were accompanying them. They also met up with the former pirate captain, Celaeno. Twilight couldn’t possibly forget the parrot who not only helped her take down the Storm King, but who teamed up with a human to put an end to Verko’s slave trade industry.

“You wouldn’t imagine the trouble we had to go through to get all the way here since we don’t own a ship anymore,” Celaeno’s mate, Falcon chuckled. In his arms he held two adorable parrot hatchlings, while Celaeno held onto one. Both of the hatchlings that Falcon was caressing were boys, and were named Eagle Eye and Raptor Glide. Celaeno held her daughter, who was named Hawk Eye. Due to the natural curiosity of a baby, Hawk Eye tried to squirm out of her mother’s arms, but sadly, to no avail.

Fluttershy came over to her old friend, squealing with excitement as she got a good look at her hatchlings. Her own daughter, Comfy Breeze on the other hand, wasn’t so thrilled to meet new faces and hid behind her mother’s leg, shyly. One of her primary reasons for coming here, was because she sort of looked up to Moonlight like an older sister and wanted to see her perform.

Speaking of the Sparkle family, there was still some time left before Twilight and Beau got to see their daughter sing, so they struck a conversation with Celestia’s own family. It was a little awkward referring to them without their titles, since they were no longer royalty. Regardless, the white alicorn was thrilled to see that her former star student was about to bring another precious life into the world.

“Harmony Sparkle... It has a nice ring to it,” Luna said and then started giggling. “I think it’s safe to say that Equestria has a new set of royal sisters.” Celestia started laughing too, followed by their husbands and Twilight. That was until they heard yet another carriage land.

“I see you dears aren’t worried about passing on the title.” Stepping out of the carriage while saying this was yet another individual who Twilight and Beau came across when gathering recruits to fight the Storm King. The beautiful and benevolent ruler of Mount Aris and Seaquestria, Queen Novo.

Twilight wanted to say hello, but the hippogriff queen revealed a side of her personality that was completely foreign to the young alicorn when she pulled her into her huge bust and began messing with her mane. By this point, Novo had completely gotten over the time Twilight tried to steal her pearl all those years ago, and has become quite doting on the young ruler.

“Aww, you two seem to be getting along well. Anything interesting happening back over on Mount Aris that we should know about?” Beau asked, chuckling at his wife’s embarrassment.

“Well, Bellator here was given a really good workout with the triplets. It’s taking him his entire day just to get them to settle down,” Novo chuckled, turning to look at her flustered husband while remembering how he ended up passing out on the floor a few weeks ago. Even as she amused herself with the memories, Novo continued to rub Twilight’s beautiful mane, impressed by how it moved on its own.

Not being one to just stand there and take the teasing, Bellator smirked as he found the chance to point out Novo’s own flaws. “Laugh it up, darling, but let’s not forget how you failed to stop our troubling trio from tearing up your comfy bed up during their sugar rush. If I recall, you just had those sheets made the day before, right?”

“Oh, come now you two! This is a time to celebrate, not to bicker,” Beau finally said, helping Twilight escape from Novo’s grip. He did however, start chuckling again when he saw how messy his wife’s hair was. With a roll of her eyes, Twilight conjured up a brush to straighten her mane before going over to talk to the growing princess of the hippogriffs, Princess Skystar.

“Sorry to eavesdrop, but this is quite a coincidence.” Beau, Novo and Bellator quickly found the source of the voice approaching them. It was the renowned captain of the Wonderbolts, Spitfire, and of course, she wasn’t alone. Accompanying her was her half-human, half-dragon husband, Blaze, who has also made a name for himself as the first non-pegasus to join the ranks.

Looking in the couple’s arms, the three royals immediately realized what Spitfire meant by “coincidence”. Since he had good ties with the Wonderbolts due to his wife being best friends with Rainbow Dash, Beau was aware that the captain had to take time off because of her pregnancy. The doctors thought Spitfire was holding twins, but it came as a shock when she ended up giving birth to triplets.

Spitfire and Blaze walked over so they could properly introduce their new blessings. They had two girls, Ember and Flaming Star, both of who were asleep in their mother’s embrace. Their son Torch Flare on the other hand, was awake as his father held him. As anyone could guess, Blaze named his son and daughter after the Dragon Lord Ember and her father Torch, since he owes so much to them for saving his life. In fact, he had already decided that the moment Spitfire got pregnant, that he would ask Ember to be the kids’ godmother.

Never before had Beau seen children like these. Torch had his mother’s pony features, including her golden yellow fur, and also inherited her eyes. However, he had his father’s hair color, and his wings were that of a dragon instead of a pegasus. Ember’s fur and eye colors were the same as her father’s, and she had unique pegasi wings that were covered with scales at the base. Finally, Flaming Star had scales instead of fur, and they were the same color as her mother’s coat. She had dragon wings like her brother, and if she wasn’t asleep, Beau would have been able to see that unlike either of her siblings, her orange eyes had slit pupils.

The young king congratulated Spitfire and Blaze before leaving them to talk to Novo and Bellator. Getting a good look at all the happy participants as he walked around, he saw that Pinkie Pie was probably more excited about the show than anyone else. After all, her husband, Frosty, and her new lover, Cheese Sandwich would be entering along with her children, Pecan and Lemon Pie.

Doing all that she could to keep herself in control as the pink mare bounced around her, was her much less enthusiastic sister, Limestone Pie. One of the things keeping her from lashing out at Pinkie, was the gentle touch of her husband, Artifex. The other thing that encouraged her to maintain her temper, was the fact that her newborn son, Granite Pie was sound asleep in her arms. Even though she was typically grouchy, Limestone has surprisingly turned out to become a loving mother, and enjoyed watching her son sleep.

There were other more experienced singers who would be taking part in this fun little show. Over at the beverage table, two of Equestria’s most famous singers Coloratura and Songbird Serenade were drinking hot cocoa and tea respectively. Apparently, they’ve decided to work together with their husbands so they could sing as a quartet.

He was getting his fair share of surprises tonight, as it was one to encounter the former rulers, but he had no idea that he would find the Rich family here. For that matter, he had no idea that the pompous mare, Spoiled Rich, was not only dating a human, but she was the third pregnant mare who Beau has come across tonight.

His curiosity could be compared to Celaeno and Falcon’s hatchlings, as before he knew it, he was walking over in order to try and get some answers. Beau expected, Spoiled Rich would turn her head away in disgust once she saw him coming over, but instead, she started smiling at him.

“Why, good evening, your majesty,” she said. “Are you having yourself a nice Hearth’s Warming Eve?”

“Well, yes I am, Mrs. Rich. However, while I’ve known you and your husband for years, I don’t believe I’ve seen this man. Care to introduce yourself, sir?” Beau asked the man, unaware of his relationship to the Rich family.

“You must be Princess Twilight Sparkle’s husband, I’ve heard great things about you,” he said extending his hand. “You can call me Intellectus. This may come as a shock to you, but I work for Spoiled and her husband and I’m her fiancé. Filthy Rich was willing to let me into the family after he found out I was growing attached to his wife. Not only that, but as you can see, the family is about to expand a great deal more.”

“Congratulations. I’m very happy for you,” Beau said, shaking his hand. “We may have just met, but I’m confident that you’ll make that baby very happy.”

“Thank you, your highness. He even helped me change my ways some time after he was hired by my husband,” Spoiled said, affectionately holding Intellectus’ arm.

“I see. Well, there’s no need to be so formal. At the end of the day, we’re all friends and family, so you can just call me Beau,” he said.

Filthy Rich came over with some glasses of hot cider, and had his daughter Diamond Tiara and Intellectus’ Jose walking behind him. Beau was only able to talk for a few minutes before he had to leave and get back to Twilight. The show was getting ready to start. Everyone gathered around, taking their seats as the curtain open up, revealing Starlight Glimmer and her husband, Chance.

“Good evening and Happy Hearth’s Warming to one and all,” Starlight said. Everyone clapped, excited for tonight’s show. “It’s a real honor to see so many of our friends here tonight for our big performance. Some of you have come from far and wide, others from pretty close by, but no matter the distance, our friendship is endless.”

“And because of that, we’ve got some very special performances for you all. Some of you might not know about these songs, but let us assure you, that will make tonight all the more magical. So sit back and be amazed as we open our show with a solo song from Ponyville’s very own...” Chance paused, turning to Starlight to silently ask her to join him.

“Genus!” they shouted in unison. Everyone cheered happily, especially Genus’ family for that matter. As he began singing, Comfy looked at her father with admiration, hoping one day she can overcome her shyness so she could perform on stage one day too.

Warm Breeze was awestruck by how his father could sing so well, wondering if he could do the same thing. He wasn’t as nervous as his little sister, but he too had a problem with stage fright. For now however, he just paid close attention to Genus, letting him once again act as a role model.

The song touched the hearts of everyone in the audience. When the song ends, everyone clapped and cheered. Genus said his thanks and took a bow before exiting stage left.

The next performance was a group act, starring Frosty, Cheese Sandwich, Spike and their kids performing another timeless classic. Unlike Cheese Sandwich and Spike, Frosty sang very often, so it was a shock to find out just how good of a voice he had. Furthermore, with the kids joining in the song, the performance was quite adorable.

The performance got both laughter and applause from the audience, and once it was finished, it was down to the last act of the night. Twilight and Beau were sitting beside Sunset Shimmer and Ignis as Moonlight and Searing Shimmer came onto the stage.

Things got especially excited when the time had come for Songbird Serenade and Coloratura, or Rara as she is called by her friends, to sing with their husbands Baritone and Tenor. As much of a fan as Beau and Twilight were of the singers, they could see in the corner that Moonlight was shaking due to how eager she was to get her turn. The royal couple looked at each other and chuckled at their daughter’s impatience before returning their attention to some of Equestria’s best singers.

“Well everyone, it’s down to our final song of the show,” Chance announced. “Please give a good round of applause for a duet from Moonlight Sparkle and Searing Shimmer!” After another round of applause, the lights shone down on a small boy who started off the finale, followed by his partner. Despite only being kids, there wasn’t even a second of hesitation as they began the duet.

Just then as if destiny wanted to make the performance even better, snow started to fall. And to make things more interesting, the two kids even danced together as they sang. Though the weather had changed, Beau and Twilight didn’t pay it any mind, and neither did Sunset and Ignis. Their only concern at the moment, was watching as their kids put their hearts into entertaining the crowd.

Because of all this excitement, some of the audience couldn’t help but sing along to this melodious symphony. Just watching a few ponies stand up and sing, was enough to get Moonlight and Searing’s parents to join in on the fun.

Alas, the song had come to an end and both of the energetic children were left sweating and out of breath. Even so, they still had more than enough energy to hold hands as they walked over to the edge of the stage and bowed while their friends and family clapped and cheered for them.

Soon enough, the participants descended from the stage to meet up with their families. More specifically in Moonlight’s case, the rambunctious girl used her magic to teleport onto Beau’s back, laughing as she did so.

“How did I do, Daddy?!” she giggled, holding tight onto her father’s neck and shoulders.

“You were amazing, sweetheart! Daddy is so proud of you!” Beau praised, managing to pry his feisty daughter off of his back so he could hold her to his chest instead.

“And so is Mommy,” Twilight added as she wrapped her arms around both her husband and daughter.

Even though the show was over, nobody was ready to go home yet. Hearth’s Warming Eve has just begun, and there was still plenty of food that was still hot and ready to be eaten. More importantly, there were lots of friends and families joined together to make this night more enjoyable.
