Everymare Loves Chrysalis

Thanks to Twilight Sparkle, instead of love and revenge, Queen Chrysalis only got love. But NOT the kind she wanted.

Desperate for dates on Hearts and Hooves Day, Twilight Sparkle created a spell that would make others ask her to be their date. She's too shy to make a move herself.

But a mistake made the spell go wrong. The one who would get the action Twilight longed for was one that did not want love in this way. Even if she once thought that she would never get enough love!

Entry for the "No Author left unnoticed" Holiday Competition, with Heart and Hooves day being chosen as the holiday to make the story about, obviously.

Last, but not last, special thanks to flutterJackdash for editing this story. The edits came a day after the story was submitted, so the errors I missed when editing it are fixed now.

Chapter 1: A desperate Alicorn's plan for love

View Online

“Yes, yes, yes, it’s almost finished! I will finally have a date for Hearts and Hooves Day. Or a lot of dates! I have waited so long, and I can hardly believe it’s about to happen!”

It was Hearts and Hooves Day. A day where everypony could show how much they cared about their “very special somepony”, if they had one, and could be used as another reason to make-out with them. Soon, another pony would join the fun for the first time in her life.

In the Castle of Friendship, Princess Twilight Sparkle, a lavender Alicorn and the Princess of Friendship, was sitting on her bed, moments from completing a special spell in her bedroom. She had worked on it for the last three weeks. It was tough work and drops of sweat ran down her forehead. Her door was closed, but she had her window open; Twilight planned to fly out of it once she finished, because she’d be in a hurry.

What is Twilight doing, you ask?

Well, Twilight had secretly longed for a date or ten for Hearts and Hooves Day, even in her adolescent years, but shyness prevented her from taking the initiative. For a long time, she hoped that being an adorkable bookworm, and later a princess, would attract romantic attention, but it never did. Or, to be more accurate, she failed to attract romantic attention from those in her world. Including the human version of Flash Sentry, some guys from other worlds, even your world, dreamed of becoming Twilight Sparkle's very special somepony, or someone. She also possessed the magic to teleport some lucky guys from your world to Equestria if they wanted and would even happily rock their worlds. Unfortunately, she doesn’t know about their existence.

Hey! You out there jumping up and down and yelling for Twilight to take you! Stop “volunteering” and calm down! She doesn’t have Pinkie Pie’s ability to see past the fourth wall, so she can’t see or hear you begging.

Now then, back to what this desperate Alicorn was doing.

The spell Twilight was nearly finished with would draw to her everypony she thought was cute, make them ask her out, and even kiss her. She couldn't wait anymore and yearned for action now. Sure, her desperate plan flew in the face of the friendship lessons she taught her former student, Starlight Glimmer, about not utilizing magical solutions to solve your problems. Princess Cadance, Twilight’s sister-in-law and the Princess of Love, might kick her flank for casting love spells without her permission. But even if love was impairing her judgment, Twilight Sparkle was a responsible pony, so she wouldn’t mess up this spell. She never makes mistakes with them.

Well, except the time Twilight cast a spell to keep parasprites from eating Ponyville’s food, but it made them eat non-food things, such as buckets. Or when she used a mind-control spell known as the “Want it, Need it” spell to create a friendship problem, so she could solve it and report what she “learned” to Princess Celestia. What a fiasco that became. And then there’s that time she attempted to solve a bat problem with a spell and it resulted in the birth of Flutterbat. But still, she’s got this. Probably. Maybe.

The magic for the spell hovered in a magenta ball the size of Twilight’s eyes, and her horn was glowing with the same color. Twilight wore an almost creepy smile. She’d waited way too long for this. She added more magic into the ball and it grew to half the size of her head and glowed brighter. It was ready.

The magic floated towards Twilight, and her grin grew even bigger and creepier. Once the ball entered her body, the effects would take hold.

But before the ball made contact with her chest, knocks came from her door and a voice from the other side asked, “Twilight! Are you in there?”

“Eep!” The shock from surprise broke Twilight’s focus, making the magical ball fly away from her, bounce from wall to wall, then zip out of the room through the open window.

Twilight hopped off her bed and sped to the window, reaching a hoof out of the window at the fleeing magic. “No! My magic! My dates! My kisses!”

“Uh...what?”

Twilight spun around to a violet Unicorn at her door. The Unicorn’s name was Starlight Glimmer. Who else would it be? She wore a puzzled frown on her face and was levitating a brown bag in her magic.

“What was that about ‘dates and kisses’?” Starlight asked.

Twilight formed an embarrassed grin. She couldn’t tell Starlight what she was doing in her room. Not only would she die of embarrassment, but she would run the risk of Starlight calling her a hypocrite or worse, laugh at her. Twilight deflected, “What was what about kisses and dates?”

“Didn’t you say something about--”

Twilight interrupted, “Uh, do you need my help with something, Starlight?”

“Oh, right. I just wanted to tell you that I brought some gems for Spike to eat today, and to ask if you knew where he was?”

“I’m afraid I don’t know where he is, but why did you get him gems?”

“Well, I guess it makes sense that you would forget what today is, but I got them because it’s Hearts and Hooves Day. Isn’t he going to mope over not being on a date with Rarity?”

In addition to missing Starlight’s semi-subtle roast, a bit of the frustration of not landing dates left Twilight, hearing what she did for Spike. Despite her...flaws and occasional setbacks -- including her own fiascos involving spells -- Starlight had become a good friend.

“Wow. I appreciate you thinking about Spike, and I know that he will, but I think he’ll be all right.”

“You sure?”

“I’m sure. But you could put them in here for him, just in case.”

“Okay.”

Starlight levitated the bag full of gems into Twilight’s room and set the bag on the floor by her bed.

“Is that all of them?”

“Yep. But is something wrong, Twilight? It looks like there is...what’s the word...desperation in your eyes or something.”

“N-No! I’m not desperate for anything! Why would I be?” Twilight blushed and smiled. It was her signature move: looking adorkable.

“Maybe I’m just seeing my own desperation in them or something, but I’m too shy to ask Sunburst, Trixie, and Sunset and you to be my very special someponies. Well, see you later, Twilight.”

Starlight turned around and trotted down the hallway. If Applejack, the Element of Honesty, saw this, she would have been proud of Starlight admitting an embarrassing truth.

But once Starlight was out of hearing range, with the anger of being dateless returning, Twilight screamed in frustration. She was so close to getting her long-awaited dates!

“NO! Now I’m going to be alone for Hearts and Hooves Day, again! Can’t a princess get some action for one Hearts and Hooves Day?! Just one! That’s all I ask!”

Twilight’s scowl softened when another thought popped into her brain.

“Wait, why am I whining? I can just find that magic and when I do, it’s date city!”

With a grin, Twilight flew out of her window, hoping to track down her magic.

Yet, little did Twilight Sparkle know that, by dumb luck, her magic was about to enter somepony before she could recover it.

Or somechangeling.

Queen Chrysalis.

Chapter 2: The unwitting Lovebug

View Online

It was feeding time.

Just outside the borders of Ponyville, and walking closer, Queen Chrysalis was preparing for the feast of her life. She had heard of Hearts and Hooves Day and knew love was at its highest on this day, but never thought to go after love-struck ponies and gorge herself on their love on the holiday. Until now.

Not only that, after Chrysalis was finished, maybe she could take her revenge on Starlight Glimmer for stealing her hive and corrupting her subjects? Getting love and revenge? This was shaping up to be a good day for the Queen, or ex-Queen, but Chrysalis preferred to think that she was still a queen. Though, she did acquire a habit of talking to herself and giving evil laughs even when nopony could hear and fear them. Perhaps it is a side effect of no longer ruling her hive?

“Ha ha ha. I have no idea why I never did this sooner. Ponies ooze love when with their ‘very special someponies’ and thanks to this silly ‘holiday’, I’m going to be spoiled for choice!”

Chrysalis tapped into her power of shapeshifting to become a green Unicorn with a mane with four blue curls, two curls on either side of her head. With that done, Chrysalis smiled and strutted into Ponyville.

However, once in the town, a magenta ball of magic flew from the sky and ran into Chrysalis, but she felt no impact.

“Strange. What was that? Oh well, I doubt it’s anything important, so let’s get on to feeding. I’m starving.”

Chrysalis took more steps into Ponyville. The houses all had what was either straw or hay as the roofs, and Chrysalis always thought it was ridiculous. Why not use something tougher, like stone or wood? Maybe after she’s done feasting and has Starlight begging for mercy, Chrysalis would perform her good deed for the lifetime and show those ponies what a real roof looks like. Or, maybe take it a step further and open a roof-building business; even villains need bits.

However, Chrysalis would get pulled out of thoughts about what she would name a company that built real roofs, when she spotted a brown mare and light-orange stallion. The pair were both Pegasi and stared into each other’s eyes, holding hooves. With a smile of near-pure evil, Chrysalis snuck behind the couple, ready to suck the love from them.

This is going to be amazing, Chrysalis thought to herself. She would have said it out loud, but she didn’t want to be heard. It was hard for her to resist saying it, though.

A stream of red smoke, or smoke-like, poured from the two love-sick ponies and into Chrysalis’s horn. Chrysalis quietly moaned in pleasure at the taste. Who needs friendship when you can eat such high-quality love?

Hmm, I should have done this ages ago. This is better than I imagined it would be.

Five seconds into feeding, the stallion moaned and fell to the ground.

But the mare remained standing. Not only did she not pass out from fatigue, but she turned to the disguised Chrysalis with a puzzled frown.

“Wait, why are you looking at me like that?” Chrysalis asked.

The mare’s frown flipped into a smile and she batted her eyes. Chrysalis had seen better. “Well, you just...look so good!”

Chrysalis blinked twice. Of all things ponies have told her, this was nothing like what she had heard before. To be fair, most of what she had heard was not positive things. “Uh...what?”

“In fact, since I'm free, how about we go out? I can tell you’re shy, so I won’t take no for an answer!”

Normally, this show of disrespect would anger Chrysalis, but after her deluxe feast, she would allow this pony to live. She would merely hurt her a little. Besides, the pain could be good for this mare: pain and hardship builds character. Even if “friendship” could ruin character like it did her former subjects’. “Well, I’m in a good mood, so your punishment for daring to make a move on me will be light. Take this!”

Chrysalis gritted her teeth and focused energy in her horn, but no blast of magic came from it.

“What?” Chrysalis asked herself.

Chrysalis focused again, but as before, nothing happened.

“I...don’t get it. What happened to my magic?”

Still with a smile, the mare said, “Nothing, because you have already worked your ‘magic’, on me! Come here and give me a kiss!”

Chrysalis’s eyes widened. She wanted love, but not like this! “W-What the buck is wrong with you? Stay back!”

With the strange brown mare’s smile deepening, Chrysalis kept trying to fire a beam of magic. But save for a spark of magenta magic, the same color as the ball of magic that hit her previously, leaking from her horn, nothing was happening. In fact, when the magic sparked from her horn, the mare’s smile grew into a creepier one.

There was only one thing left to do. Chrysalis spun around and ran as fast as she could.

“Hey, come back here!”

With the odd Pegasus chasing her, Chrysalis dashed down Ponyville’s roads. The houses she ran by were almost a blur and there was no time to think about how she’d improve those roofs. Chrysalis couldn’t stand how she had to flee. How could Queen Chrysalis have had to flee from a pony? As much as her pride hated to admit it, if she tried to fight the mare physically, the ensuing commotion might alert Princess Twilight Sparkle or Starlight Glimmer to her presence. She came to Ponyville to eat love and have payback, not become target practice for two of the strongest ponies in Equestria.

Ten seconds into the chase, Chrysalis ducked into Ponyville’s Day Spa and hid behind the door. Chrysalis wouldn’t have minded getting a massage, if she wasn’t being chased. When the mare behind her ran in, Chrysalis snuck back out, then hopped into a nearby bush to make sure she remained out of sight. The mare ran out, turned her head to the left and right, but couldn’t see the hiding Chrysalis.

“I’ll find you!” the crazy mare yelled, and sprinted off in the direction she originally was.

With the coast clear, Chrysalis came out of the bush, but remaining in disguise as a green Unicorn. “Okay...that’s new. First, that mare didn’t pass out from her love being stolen, then she…*shudders*...did that. And now, I can’t use my magic. What is going on?!”

Chrysalis set a hoof below her mouth, and it still felt odd having legs with no holes in them. What was happening to her?

“Hmm. Maybe the magic that hit me earlier did something, and maybe mares have more love than stallions. It would explain why it’s usually mares that go on and on about that disgusting friendship. No matter, I can just leave Ponyville and figure out what’s wrong with me later, and I can have my revenge on that sow, Starlight Glimmer, another day.”

The sweet coos of another couple filled Chrysalis’s ears. By a tree were the ponies making them: a pink Unicorn mare and a red Earth Pony stallion. The stallion was much larger than most stallions. Perhaps they were too focused on each other to notice what was happening with Chrysalis being chased.

Chrysalis was about to leave, but the thought of more tasty love made her reconsider. It was good stuff.

“Then again, maybe I could have just a bit more love. Hearts and Hooves Day only comes once a year. I’ll just be more careful this time so what happened with that other mare won’t happen again.”

Chrysalis crept behind the tree with the two ponies, who started nuzzling each other. Once close enough, a stream of love came from them to Chrysalis.

Their love was as tasty as the last couple’s. After two seconds, Chrysalis was full for once, and she stopped feeding well before she ate all their love.

But before Chrysalis would leave, both ponies seemed to sense something and turned to Chrysalis. The pink mare smiled and batted her eyes, and the stallion looked puzzled and lightly panted from being drained.

The pink mare said, “Well, hello, hottie!”

“Hot-what?” The surprise was so great, Chrysalis accidentally reverted to her true form. This wasn’t good.

Or was it? By the mare knowing her true identity, at least Chrysalis wouldn’t have to flee. In fact, the fear that would be on her face would even make up for the “moment” Chrysalis had with the previous mare. Nothing like the look of fear to reduce stress.

Yet the strange mare wasn’t the least bit scared. In fact, her smile deepened. Something was seriously wrong with this pony.

“Well, aren’t you going to scream or run away?” Chrysalis asked.

“Why should I run from a hottie? Come here and give me a kiss!”

That sealed it: this mare was simply crazy! Chrysalis growled and again tried to use magic to teach her a lesson, but nothing happened.

“What is going on? What’s wrong with my magic?!” Chrysalis yelled in pure frustration.

The red stallion, the boyfriend to the insane mare, stomped to Chrysalis with a scowl, seemingly with his energy back. Perhaps the pride of a boyfriend meant that he didn’t give a buck if the one he was staring down was Queen Chrysalis. “You. Chrysalis.”

“What?”

“Are you tryin’ to take ah girlfriend away from me?”

“Are you insane? I don’t want her!”

The stallion growled. “Wait, ya think she’s not good enough?”

“No, there’s nothing wrong with her! If I were into mares, I would take her like that!”

The stallion gritted his teeth. “Oh, so ya would take her from me then! Take this, girlfriend stealer, and I still owe ya one for ponynappin’ mah little sister!”

The stallion turned around. With a grunt, he flung his huge, strong hind legs toward Chrysalis. His hooves made contact with her and sent the screaming Changeling flying in the air and halfway through Ponyville. She landed in a pile of boxes with a thud. The harsh physical training she and her ex-subjects underwent allowed her to suffer no more than a bump from the attack. That training was even how she and the Changelings survived being blasted out of Canterlot by the power of love.

Even so, Chrysalis was sick in bed for a week over getting her rear end handed to her that bad.

“Ow! When I can use my magic again, that stallion will pay for that!”

Chrysalis shook her head and muttered some more to vent. Once her venting was done, she could get back to trying to figure out what was going on.

“Okay. First, those two mares hit on me, and for some reason I can’t use my magic. It must have something to do with that magic that hit me earlier. I must learn what happened so I can reverse this blasted effect it has on me!”

There was only one pony that Chrysalis knew lived in Ponyville with the magical knowledge to help: Princess Twilight Sparkle. But as much as Chrysalis despised the Princess of Friendship, there was little she could do on her own. If she wanted to fix whatever happened, she would need Twilight’s help. But would she even help?

“Oh, I know what I could do! When I see Twilight, I’ll tell her how I ‘learned the errors of my ways’ and when she fixes me, BOOM! Right in the kisser with my strongest attack before she can react! Then after Equestria has one less princess, I’ll look for Starlight, tell her I will take the offer she gave me back in the hive, and when her guard’s down, POW! Revenge city, population: me!”

Chrysalis looked towards a huge crystal tree-castle in the distance. It was the Castle of Friendship, the home of Twilight Sparkle.

With evil chuckles, Chrysalis made her way to the castle. Thoughts of what she’d do to Twilight and Starlight for her humiliation filled her head, not even caring if they were at fault. But even if they weren’t, Chrysalis would just use them to take her frustration out on.

It’s good to be a villain. No pesky moral code to live by. You can do whatever you feel like. It would be the perfect life, if not for those pesky heroes always ruining your well-thought-out plans. Why can’t they mind their own business?

Those were the thoughts Chrysalis had in her head as she made her way towards the castle. Though, not a single thought was about the chance that Twilight might get into the act too.

Or her friends.

Chapter 3: Fighting over the Lovebug

View Online

Walking down the path leading to it, Queen Chrysalis was on the way to Twilight Sparkle’s home: a castle anchored on top of a tree, both made of crystal. The purple castle’s light-blue tree (though the part of the tree near the bottom was dark-purple) with a light-blue crystal in the shape of Twilight’s Cutie Mark on top of the palace, was an okay sight. The glistening of the crystal, thanks to the sunlight, hurt some of the appeal it would have had otherwise. However, unlike the houses in town with hay roofs, it had a real roof. Perhaps the Princess of Friendship wasn’t as foolish as Chrysalis thought: she understood the value of a good roof.

However, five ponies, walking together, came into view. They were Pinkie Pie, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, and Rarity.

“Uh-oh.” Chrysalis hopped into a bush, but found her true form a tad too big to fully fit.

“Ugh, guess the love I ate was higher in calories than I thought. Now I will have to only eat low-calorie love for a while, and that stuff sucks! Wait, why am I hiding anyway? I can change into a pony again, then walk by those fools.”

With that, Chrysalis shapeshifted back into the green unicorn she was before, with the blue four-curl mane, came out of the bush, and trotted towards the five ponies.

Hoping it would help her not seem suspicious, Chrysalis greeted, “Hi.”

The five friends stopped walking and looked at each other. Then they stared at Chrysalis.

Chrysalis’s body briefly flashed with a magenta aura. Once the aura vanished, the mares batted their eyes and they all simultaneously asked, “Will you be my date?”

Something was gravely wrong. Not only did all five mares ask Chrysalis for a date, but Fluttershy did too. Even for the “new” Fluttershy, which Chrysalis knew about, this wasn’t natural!

“Uh, no,” Chrysalis flatly answered.

The mares walked closer, with smiles, as if “no” meant “yes” to them.

Even if there were no threat of later being on the wrong end of a “curb-stomp battle” with Twilight or Starlight if she tried, Chrysalis would not have attempted to fight back. Five-against-one and all.

All Chrysalis could do was turn around and run, with the ponies chasing her, begging for her to stop.

Chrysalis would never live this down. It was pathetic enough that she had to run from those ponies, but she was running from Fluttershy. Fluttershy! It wasn’t like that Pegasus would rain death if she was angered or possessed a ferocious temper that even the Lord of Chaos feared.

An idea popped into Chrysalis's mind. Those five mares are heroes, so why not use their sickening bleeding hearts to her advantage? She stopped and pointed in a direction behind them. “Hey look, somepony needs help near Twilight’s castle!”

The five idiot heroes stopped running and turned their heads to where Chrysalis pointed. They all asked, “Where?!”

Chrysalis turned on the jets and darted behind the nearest building and out of sight. The mares sped towards the castle to find the “pony” that needed help, so they didn’t see where Chrysalis went.

Safe for the moment, Chrysalis sat down. She needed to think of her next action. But at least those five fools stayed together.

After a minute, Chrysalis stood up, peeked from behind the building, and found her enemies were nowhere in sight. With the coast clear, she again made her way to Twilight’s castle.

But a smiling Rainbow Dash flew in from the sky and landed in front of Chrysalis.

Forgetting that she was a proud, unreformed villain, Chrysalis let out a girly, “Eep!”

Rainbow said, “Oh, that’s cute. And I know why you said a pony was in trouble.”

“Why?” Chrysalis genuinely asked.

“Because it was a test to see who loves you the most, and by finding you first, I passed.”

The Changeling blinked two times back-to-back, then did it again. This kind of “logic” was all but alien to her.

“Not that I needed to pass a test anyway, because you can’t do better than me! I’m twenty percent cooler than the average mare.”

Chrysalis felt herself being pulled to the left by magic. After three seconds, she found herself face-to-face with who was responsible: Rarity, who wore a smile and batted her eyes.

“Oh, don’t listen to her! You deserve a mare of class and refinement for your Hearts and Hooves Day date!”

Rainbow flew to Rarity and said, “Hey, Rarity, she’s mine! Get your own date!”

The surprise made Rarity lose her magical grip on Chrysalis and she countered, “What do you think I just did, Rainbow?”

“You stole my date, that’s what you did!”

“How could I steal what isn’t yours?”

As those mares argued, Chrysalis made a break for it. She couldn’t pass on this chance to get to Twilight’s castle.

From the air, Fluttershy swooped down and wrapped her forelegs around Chrysalis, with a smile, and carried her away. Chrysalis thought Fluttershy being so shy before was sickening, but now she would prefer that version of Fluttershy back.

“I thought about it, and let’s just skip the date and get to kissing once we are in my cottage.”

“You put me down right now, or else!” Chrysalis warned.

A lasso flew through the air from nowhere and hooked Chrysalis by a leg. With a yelp, she found herself yanked from Fluttershy’s grip and to a pony on the ground. The pony’s name: Applejack.

“Hoo-wee, look what I caught! One grade ‘A’ date!”

Chrysalis growled. The mighty Queen of the Changelings had never been treated like a thing before and her blood was boiling. There will be Tartarus to pay when she’s able to use her magic again!

“If you don’t release me, then--”

“I’ll get a kiss?” Applejack interrupted and batted her eyes.

“No--wait.” Chrysalis thought about this. If she said “yes”, Applejack might let her go and she could flee before the kissing started. Then again, Applejack could simply catch her again with her lasso. Chrysalis didn’t know what to do, and even started stuttering.

Fluttershy landed beside Applejack and bit through her lasso.

“What was that for, Fluttershy?!”

“For taking my date and kisses!” With Chrysalis free, Fluttershy picked her up and flew away with her again. This time, she flew higher in the air, in case Applejack had another lasso nearby.

“Hey! Get back here with my date, Fluttershy!” Applejack yelled.

Chrysalis was missing the old Fluttershy more and more.

A voice demanded, “Hey! You’re not going anywhere, Fluttershy! Not with my date!”

Fluttershy and Chrysalis both turned to who yelled. It was Rainbow Dash in the air, approaching them with gritted teeth.

“No! She’s mine!” Fluttershy replied.

Rainbow zipped closer and rapidly spun in tight circles around Fluttershy, forcing her to spin and lose her grip on Chrysalis. Rainbow then swooped down to catch Chrysalis and brought her back to the ground.

But once on the ground, Chrysalis flashed in a magenta light. When the light vanished again, with a yell, Fluttershy flew into Rainbow and the two rolled on the ground grunting. Chrysalis was at least impressed with the takedown.

But Chrysalis found herself pulled by magic again to Rarity.

Rarity didn’t even get a chance to say anything. Applejack threw an apple at Rarity’s head to break her grip.

“Ow! Applejack, how crude!”

“Well, that’s what ya get for tryin’ to take my very special somepony!”

Back on her hooves, Rainbow corrected, “You mean my very special somepony!”

“No, she’s my very special somepony!” Fluttershy yelled, also back in her hooves and stood beside Rainbow.

Rarity, Applejack, Rainbow, and Fluttershy all walked to, and faced, each other in a circle and argued. Something changed, because they suddenly wanted more than "just" a date! Chrysalis noticed that Pinkie Pie didn’t take a turn, and she was thankful for that little mercy. But more importantly, with the four mares fighting, their attention wasn’t on Chrysalis, so she used the chance to dash to Twilight’s castle.

Fortunately, she made it without being seen.

At the castle’s grand, gold, double doors, Chrysalis forced her feet through them and into the lobby. She was too rattled to even think about knocking, especially since it wasn’t her style anyway.

The inside was a lot bigger than it appeared on the outside. The purple crystal walls and two circular stairs in the lobby were an all right sight.

“Princess Twilight! Are you in here?!”

No response. The Princess was either in another castle, or simply somewhere else. Chrysalis had no idea where to go, so she picked a path and walked down the nearest hallway.

In the hallway, the castle looked bigger still, and closed light-green double doors hid the inside of the numerous rooms. Maybe one of the rooms had some books with info on what might have happened to her. Chrysalis knew about how Twilight loved reading books.

Luck chose to favor her this time: one of the first doors Chrysalis picked to go in was one of the doors to the castle’s library. Once in, she sat down to catch her breath from the “activities” she had earlier.

Fortunately, the numerous books in the bookshelves lining the library proved this was the best place for her to discover what happened to her.

“Okay, this day has just been crazy, but I need to focus and figure out what's going on. But at least, Starlight Glimmer hasn't come after me yet. Of all ponies, she’s the VERY LAST ONE I want hitting on me.”

Fate must have had a vendetta against Chrysalis. Starlight Glimmer barged through one of the doors with a huge smile. “There you are! I thought I heard your voice, sweet lips!”

Oh no. Not her. Chrysalis’s eyes widened. The very last thing she wanted to happen, was happening! “N-No, not you! Stay the buck away from me, Starlight Glimmer!”

Starlight chuckled and assured, “Oh, don’t worry. I saw what the others did to you and I don’t want to kiss you or ask you out for Hearts and Hooves day.”

Chrysalis relaxed her scowl. “You don’t?”

Starlight shook her head, but with a smile oozing desperation, she answered, “No. I want to make out with you! Come to mama!”

Chrysalis’s mouth dropped. Was this some kind of a sick joke? “No, no, no! I’m out of here!”

Chrysalis sped out of the library through a different door from the one Starlight used. Starlight chased in hot pursuit. This day was becoming a nightmare for Chrysalis.

“Hey, come back! I’ll be good!” Starlight begged.

“No! Leave me alone, you crazy pony!”

Chrysalis ran into a room, locking the door, and Starlight pounded against it with her hooves. Three seconds after Chrysalis locked the door, the odd magenta aura reappeared for a second.

When the aura vanished, Starlight’s banging on the door grew more intense.

“Come oooooon! Let me in!” Starlight begged in one of the most desperate voices Chrysalis had ever heard. She’s imprisoned helpless ponies in cocoons while they screamed for help, so that should tell you how desperate -- and pathetic -- Starlight sounded.

“No!”

“But we’ll be great together, and I neeeeeed you!”

After more banging, a voice called out, “Where is that mare? I know she’s in here!”

The voice belonged to Rainbow Dash. Perhaps she saw Chrysalis go into the castle after all? Wonderful.

“Oh, uh, what are you talking about, Rainbow?” Starlight asked in a nonchalant voice. Interesting enough, Chrysalis respected her a little for refusing to share. No freebies: if you want something from somepony, take it from them in a duel! That part of Starlight was something Chrysalis could get behind, but it didn’t make her stop hating Starlight or want to make-out with her.

“She’s talking about a mare that came in the castle,” the voice of Rarity said. Of course it wouldn’t just be Rainbow.

“Who is mine by the way,“ Applejack pointed out.

“Uh, there’s no mare in the castle, besides me,” Starlight lied.

“Yes, there is! I can feel her love coming from in here,” Fluttershy said.

The five ponies argued. Acting on a gut instinct, Chrysalis carefully took a peek out and found the mares’ attention was away from the door, and there was enough space to sneak past them. She took this chance to escape.

But before she got far, Rarity exclaimed, “Hey, there she is!”

Chrysalis ran as fast as her legs could go. After she turned a corner, she ducked in one of the castle’s bedrooms and locked the door. She heard the crazy mares’ hoofsteps speed past the door.

“Whew! I’m finally safe! But I should stay here for a while. That bed looks like a good place to take a well-needed nap, but that blanket with Twilight’s Cutie Mark has got to go.”

Chrysalis’s idea to stay turned out to be a smart one because hoofsteps returned. From the sound of them, it was only one pony returning.

Chrysalis stayed still and quiet.

A turquoise ax cut through and made a hole in the door, making Chrysalis yelp. A persian eye from the other side peeked in through the hole.

“Heeeere’s Starly!” Starlight said in a more psychotic voice.

“No!”

More chops of the ax brought the door down. Starlight’s lustful grin grew even bigger. Queen Chrysalis actually felt fear now and backed away with a frown.

“Y-You stay away from me! Or else!”

“Okay,” Starlight replied in a far more normal voice.

“R-Really?” Chrysalis asked. She didn’t think Starlight would actually listen, but she wasn’t going to complain!

Alas, the situation wasn’t what Chrysalis thought. Starlight indeed stayed put, BUT she used her magic to pull Chrysalis to her. Then she leaned her head forward, and her soft lips made contact with hers.

Chrysalis couldn’t believe it. That vile, sickening, goody-goody Starlight Glimmer, one of her most hated enemies, was laying A BIG FAT WET ONE on the Queen’s lips! It got even worse when Starlight’s tongue slipped into Chrysalis’s mouth. She would never look at Starlight the same way again. Chrysalis struggled to flail her legs to free herself, but the strength of the Unicorn’s magical grip made it pointless.

When Starlight released her lip-lock, Chrysalis spit Starlight’s...yuck...saliva out of her mouth. Chrysalis didn’t care about learning what happened to her, or the possibility for her revenge. She just wanted to get as far away from Starlight Glimmer as possible. As well as from Fluttershy, Rarity, Applejack, and Rainbow Dash.

But how? Starlight’s grip was inescapable and the look in her eyes and grin screamed that she wasn’t done. Luckily, Chrysalis remembered Starlight’s fondness of kites, which Chrysalis learned through spying on her when plotting for revenge. The idea Chrysalis thought of was a stupid idea, but she just got kissed by that pony, so she would try anything.

Almost anything.

Chrysalis said. “Oh, look behind you! It’s a kite.”

Starlight released her magical grip on Chrysalis and turned her head. “Where?”

Chrysalis pushed Starlight to the floor in the room, threw the blanket covering the bed over her, and zipped down the hallway and out the front door of the castle. How she picked the correct way to go was something Chrysalis didn’t even think about. Outside, she shapeshifted to her true form and took to the air.

“Ugh! Even if it’s out of their own magic, what kind of nut job opens doors with axes?! And what’s that?!”

To Chrysalis’s right, a swarm of Pegasi was flying closer, screaming her name. Two of them were Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy, one was the brown mare that Chrysalis first stole love from. All the Pegasi were mares. Now Chrysalis had a crowd chasing after her!

“You fools will never catch me! Never!”

A loud boom came from behind Chrysalis. Before she could even turn around, something hit her from behind and wrapped what felt to be forelegs around her. The impact forced Chrysalis to spin end-over-end, then crash and roll on the ground.

Chrysalis growled and turned her head to see who was still hugging her from behind. It was a pink Earth Pony with a huge grin.

Yes, it was Pinkie Pie. Chrysalis heard of a fabled cannon known as the “party cannon” and figured that the “boom” she heard was Pinkie launching herself from it. Pinkie is a pony with guts, which Chrysalis would have respected if not for being so sick of being chased!

Chrysalis was too worn down to even try to pry Pinkie off of her.

“Oh, this is just not my day.”

“But it’s about to be your day, Lovebug! I was waiting for a Unicorn I saw earlier to come, but I’ll take you instead! Now, where are my million kisses?”

The voice of Applejack said, “Those kisses of hers are for me, Pinkie Pie! I’ll take a queen over a ‘normal’ mare anyway!”

Chrysalis looked to where the voice came from. It was a mob of Earth Ponies and Unicorns, and Rarity, Starlight, and Applejack were part of it. The Pegasi also continued to come closer and soon all the ponies surrounded her; Pinkie remained latched onto her. Everypony bore creepy smiles. Chrysalis wondered what she did to deserve this. Even for what she had done in the past, this was too cruel a punishment.

“No…no! Leave me alone, please! I’ll never steal love from ponies again. I won’t try to get revenge on Starlight Glimmer! I’ll even reform! Just, stop trying to kiss and make me be your very special somepony! I’m not even a pony!”

The mares crept closer, but abruptly moaned, wobbled on their hooves, and collapsed to the ground. Their eyes were closed. Pinkie’s grip weakened when she lost consciousness.

Chrysalis had no idea what happened, but this was her chance! With a crazed laugh, Chrysalis gently moved Pinkie off her -- she did not want to risk waking her up -- took to the air and fled Ponyville. She would never come near the town again, unless she was on the verge of losing her mind. At the very least, Chrysalis was glad that Princess Twilight never got into the act, and Chrysalis didn’t give a buck as to why. She also never thought of the idea of draining the ponies’ love to incapacitate them, so she wouldn’t have needed to flee, but every villain has their off-days. Especially on days like these.

Chapter 4: Lovehorse's confession

Oblivious to the “events” with Queen Chrysalis, Princess Twilight Sparkle was flying to her castle, toward the unconscious crowd, but was too far away to see them. She wore a frown. She searched for the magic that would land her dates for Hearts and Hooves day, but was unable to find any trace of it.

“I just can’t believe it. All the work I did on that spell for nothing. This was supposed to be the best Hearts and Hooves Day ever, but instead, I’m going to be alone for it, again.”

The lonely Alicorn continued to curse her luck. But soon, the crowd of mares came into view.

“Huh? What’s going on?”

With concern over the unconscious ponies overriding the self-pity for herself, Twilight flew to the crowd and landed in front of Rainbow Dash. She poked Rainbow and asked, “Rainbow? Are you okay? Say something!”

Twilight repeated this with her other friends, but none responded. Usually, Twilight would have felt fear that something serious might have happened. But she wasn’t in the best mood. She also needed to get out some frustration, so she used that to her advantage and in her “Royal Canterlot” voice yelled, “IS EVERYPONY OKAY?!”

The shout made the mares moan, and some rubbed their heads.

“Oh, what happened?” Applejack groggily asked.

“My head feels like I drank a year’s worth of cider in a day,” Rainbow said.

Fluttershy rubbed her head. “Um, I think I remember something. Something about Queen Chrysalis.”

“Oh, that’s right and we--” Rarity’s mouth widened “--NOOOOO!!

More of the mares groaned in disgust. Starlight materialized a toothbrush, already with toothpaste on its bristle, as well as a bottle of mouthwash, and brushed her teeth and mouth vigorously. The inside of her mouth turned red from the brushing. Then she washed her mouth with the mouthwash just as fiercely.

Twilight asked, “Guys? What’s wrong? Why are you washing your mouth like that, Starlight?”

Starlight spit the mouthwash out of her mouth. “If you did what I did, you would be too!”

Twilight asked, “Well, what did you do?!”

“I kissed Queen Chrysalis, and my tongue...ugh!”

Twilight’s eyes widened and her mouth dropped. “You WHAT?! Why?! What happened?!”

Thinking about where her tongue was, Starlight heaved. If the others weren’t as grossed out about how they hit on Chrysalis, they would have been grossed out by Starlight’s vomit. Still, they stopped talking as Starlight heaved.

After Starlight had finished throwing up, Fluttershy explained, “Well, I didn’t see what happened with Starlight. But I know something made me go after Queen Chrysalis wanting her as my very special somepony for Hearts and Hooves day, but I couldn’t control myself.”

"And I couldn't control myself either!" Rainbow said.

Pinkie answered, “Yeah, and I have no idea why I did it too because I do not feel that way about her!”

"And I...oh, no." Applejack facehoofed and turned to Rarity with a frown full of guilt. "Rarity, I am so sorry I threw an apple at ya. I really wasn’t myself back there."

"And I am so sorry for tackling you, Rainbow," Fluttershy said with her ears drooped.

Rarity asked, “Do you have any ideas of what happened, Twilight?"

Twilight set a hoof on her cheek. Could this have had something to do with her spell? If it went into her as she had planned, the mares would have acted like this towards Twilight, not Chrysalis. “Uh...I think I might know. If I’m right, it was a spell that made you do that.”

“Ugh, spells like those should be banned unless Princess Cadance is the one that does them! And who cast it anyway?” Rainbow asked.

Applejack gasped and brought up, “Wait, y’all, I remember somethin’. At one point, Chrysalis sparked magic that was Twilight’s color.”

“Oh, yeah, I remember too!” Rarity echoed.

Starlight said, “Wait. Twilight, in your room, I remember seeing a book on spells about love. You couldn’t be behind...?”

The other mares looked at Twilight. Applejack would kick Twilight’s flank more painfully if she lied, so she confessed. She explained the nature of the spell, how the effect must have grown stronger over time which was why they became increasingly aggressive toward each other, and even had grown into a siren-like effect which drew them to where Chrysalis was. When the spell wore off, it made the mares faint, which was something even Twilight didn’t expect to happen, and they were also supposed to be willing to share. Chrysalis’s ability to use magic being blocked was another effect that wasn’t supposed to happen, but nopony was aware that Chrysalis was unable to use magic.

The mares were not amused by Twilight’s plan and all glared at her. Some growled.

Rainbow exclaimed, “Wow, really, Twilight?!”

“You were going to use a spell to get a date or ten?! Even I’ve never been that desperate!” Rarity scolded.

“And you once told me to not use magic to decorate a table! And now you wanted to cast a spell to make others ask you out JUST BECAUSE YOU WERE TOO SHY TO ASK US OUT YOURSELF?! At least I had the excuse of being a noob in friendship when I screwed up by using mind-control spells!”

"Uh, 'noob'? What's that?" Fluttershy asked with a confused frown.

Starlight explained, "Oh, that's what the human world that Sunset Shimmer lives in calls somepony that's new to something, so they’re not...great at it yet."

"Hmm, good to know. But back to you, Twilight; Starlight was a uh, 'noob', in friendship back then, but you’re the Princess of Friendship! As in, an expert!” Rainbow yelled.

"Uh, in my defense, even if I'm an expert in friendship, I haven’t learned everything about it yet,” Twilight defended in a cute voice and smiled.

Twilight raised a valid point, but Applejack still scolded, “Well, ya got us on that one, but I still can’t believe ya, Twilight!”

“But I have another question. Twilight, you said that spell would make those you felt some feelings for ask you out, right?” Fluttershy asked.

“Yeah?”

Everypony in the crowd looked at one another. The fact that it only affected mares became more apparent, and the spell affected a lot of them.

“Oh. So that’s why you hardly ever want to hang out with stallions that are not Shining Armor,” Pinkie remarked.

All the mares stared at Twilight. No matter what the pony said next, Princess Twilight Sparkle would NEVER live this down. Even the “Want it, Need it” spell fiasco wasn’t this bad. Thus, she had nothing to lose, so she might as well say it.

“I would like to point out that I at least have a thing for human males too, so I'm technically a bisexual, not a lesbian.” And Sunset won’t let me have Flash Sentry.
