The Artifact
Twilight Sparkle, a lavender alicorn with a navy blue mane and tail with pink and purple stripes, was sitting in her room reading. Of course, this is almost every day but there is something special about what she is reading. She found a book on ancient artifacts written by Starswirl himself.
Her dark purple eyes flew across the pages, eager to gain everything the book has to offer. She was nearly brimming with excitement at the artifacts she had found, from the Elements of Harmony to something called…. She stopped on the last artifact.
Her face portrayed shock and grand curiosity at what she had found. The artifact was in the shape of a 6-pointed star in front of a golden apple, the apple symbolizing chaos. She looked down at the name of the artifact, intent on finding out its name when,
“YAAHHH!” yelled Twilight as she looked at her flank to find it singed.
She looked up and glared at the dark grey cloud, but it wasn’t the cloud she was angry at, it was the creature on top of it laughing his butt off. It was Discord, the Spirit of Chaos and Disharmony, and he was about to realize why you should never disturb Twilight while she was engrossed in a story.
Twilight’s horn glowed brightly and she shoots a charged beam of electricity right at him, giving a self-satisfied smirk as he yelps in slight pain.
“Why would you do that?! It was only a joke, my dear!” Discord exclaims. Twilight rolled her eyes in annoyance, “Everyone in Ponyville knows that, when I am trying to read something important you shouldn’t disturb me.”
Discord scoffed “Well no one told me that, Ms. Sparkle. I was under the assumption that you could take a joke, but clearly I was wrong.”
“Hey!” Twilight flew to his eye level and looked straight into his eyes, “I can take a joke, but people know that when the joke is played on me at the wrong time it won’t be funny when I get angry at their attempts!”
Discord huffs and turns his head away from her, “Well, then I won’t give you the present I had for you then.”
Twilight eyes soften and her eyes turn curious again, “You got me something?”
“Well of course! You’re one of my greatest friends, along with Fluttershy! I already gave her a gift, so I decided to give one to you.”
Then, a purple box with Twilight’s 6-pointed star on the sides appeared in his hands. He handed it to her with a nervous demeanor, rubbing the back of his neck
Twilight looked from him to the box, and slowly pulled the navy blue ribbon tying it together. She opens the box, and gasps at what is inside.
Inside the box, was the artifact that she had been looking at in one of the last pages in Starswirl’s book. It was the 6-pointed star and apple that she was about to look at the name for. “Discord,” She started, amazed at what he got her “where did you get this?” said Twilight in a voice filled with awe.
“I got in in the crystal caverns beneath Canterlot. I figured that you would appreciate something found a long time ago, something rare.” Discord turned his head to the side again, but this time there was a small pink tinge coloring his cheeks.
Twilight smiles and gives Discord a hug, a small smile on her face, “Thank you Discord, this is the nicest thing you’ve ever done.”
The coloring on his cheeks darkened and he said a small “Your Welcome” and poofed to Fluttershy’s.
Twilight looked outside and saw that the sun was about to set, so she put the book back in its place, put her gift from Discord on her nightstand and went to bed, just as the sun had set over the horizon.
Unbeknownst to her, the relic had started glowing a bright blue and shoved its magic into the alicorn princess…..
-The Next Morning-
Rays of golden light hit Twilight’s eyes, as the sun appeared over the horizon. The purple bookworm groaned, and turned over in her bed to block out the sun. As she turned over, she noticed something different about the way her hooves felt. She moved her hooves again, only to find that she had dark purple claws instead.
Twilight threw off the pillows and screamed as she looked down at her body. Instead of the body of a pony, she had a long lavender snake-like body with fluff at the base of her neck. She has a light purple dragon’s tail with a tuft of her normal tail at the end, and her hind legs had become a dogs, except dark purple.
Twilight ran to her bathroom, hoping nothing else had changed, but she was wrong again. Her mane had become longer and hung down a good length of her neck. But that was not the most shocking change, as she had horns growing just behind her ears and they were about a half a foot long, and the whites of her eyes had turned light purple and she still had the regular color to her eyes, but her pupils had turned red.
You know, she looked an awful lot like-
“DISCORD!” Twilight screeched
Discord suddenly appeared in her room. “Really Twilight, I could hear you halfway across my dimension of chaos! What do you-”
Discord paused, as he did a double-take at who he is looking at. He knows it’s Twilight, but she somehow looked more appealing this way. He had not seen another of his species in 5000 years, and is very flustered.
Discord’s fur fluffed up as he gained a heavy blush on his cheeks, staring at the former pony with wide eyes.
“Oh boy,” Twilight started, annoyance clear in her voice “This is gonna be a looooooong day.”
And so she went to go snap the Lord of Chaos out of his trance, and get an explanation on what had happened to her.
