You flew above the treetops of the everfree forest, like a ghost, a really quick ghost that is. You allowed the direction of the wind to push you almost willingly above the treetops. Your wings gave a little flicker here and there, but apart from that, you were as fast as your name suggested. Your name was Blitz! German for lightning fast. You slowed down a little, before diving down into the everfree and landing at the bottom, below all of the dense foliage, on the ground. You stretched your forelegs until they gave a loud crack, then followed it up with stretching your hindlegs, until they gave the same beautifully satisfying crack too. Before you began to run for a little bit, to loosen your legs, a pack of timber wolves appeared and blocked the direction that you were about to start heading. You smiled mischievously, eyeing the timber wolves like they were a complete meal. They growled and snarled at you, progressively getting closer with each step they took. You took steps forward too, inching yourself closer to what seemed like your end, but it wasn't. A timber wolf launched itself at you, opening its maw to make its final move towards you and finish you off. You charged your horn and struck the pouncing timber wolf with a bolt of pure energy, hence your name being Blitz. The timber wolf exploded! Bits of fire sprinkled over the last little pieces of the once living wooden animal. The other timber wolves snarled and barked at you. You stood your ground, glaring at the now not so sure wolves. They slowly backed up and turned to run. That was your moment to get out of there. You lifted up from the floor and flew above the treetops once more. "Sorry legs. Guess my wings have gotta work just that little bit harder." You said to yourself, looking at your forehooves, them pivoting your head to look back at your hindlegs. Without a second thought, you flew ahead, traveling just to the edge of the everfree, but still a little way from Canterlot, where you had a special date with your even more special somepony. You landed on the floor and then began to pace across the landscape, following the paths that lead to the outskirts of Canterlot. You saw more and more ponies pass you as you got closer, getting concerned and strange looks from everypony. What did it matter that you were a changeling? Changelings were commonly seen in towns and cities at this point in time. It was probably due to the fact that you didn't look like all of the other changelings. You looked like the old changelings, not the new, colourful ones, the old dark coloured ones, with the holes in the legs, wings, tail and even your ears, in your case anyway. You kept the connotations that all of the old changelings kept, being depicted as evil, desperate, always being bad, thieving, etcetera… anything evil or bad would be associated with you. You continued to carefully walk into the outskirts of Canterlot, still receiving angry and scared looks from everypony that you came across. This made you feel kind of anxious, beginning to make your stomach churn and twist about. This then actually made you worry, just a little, but being constantly told that nobody would judge you from multiple sources in the past, made you feel just that little bit better. You rarely went out and about in the public eye as your normal changeling self. You always used to change to a pony that wasn't around at the time, but you quickly found out that you probably would have gotten into trouble if you kept that up. With your luck, everything would have gone wrong, and that was exactly what happened as this story unfolded. It began to rain! Being a bug pony was bad enough, but being a bug pony in the rain was worse. Terrible actually! The rain soaked your chitin like skin and made it a surprisingly darker shade of grey. Almost as dark as Luna's sky during the night. You ran for cover as you tried to get as little water on you as possible. You finally got to some cover, closer towards the centre of Canterlot. You, and a fair few other ponies, were now held up in a little coffee shop. Only a couple of ponies were buying drinks, the rest were just trying to avoid the rain. You realised that you hadn't quite got to your destination of where your special somepony was, so you boldly stepped out into the rain. Out of nowhere, it began to strike! Thunder and lightning! Two of the things that you were used to hearing, back when your parents had escaped from the reign of Chrysalis. That was a story for another day! You began to trot along the now soaked roads and paths, dragging your wet mane and tail with you. Every now and then, a raindrop would pass through a hole on your body and you could feel it, like almost dodging a dodgeball, but not at the same time. Quite frankly, it felt weird. You were about to ponder more and more, that was until you saw her. She was… she was with a stallion of her own. "Loyal my ass!" You said to yourself, looking over at her, not really knowing if she was talking to him or if he was the stallion that replaced you. You sat and watched for a couple of seconds before the stallion made his move. He kissed your marefriend on the lips. You watched in horror as she forced into it. It would have made you happy for them, but something made you just want to stay and show them both that you were watching. Then it happened! Lightning lit up the sky and crashed down next to you. You were too engaged with the active display before you to notice the lightning that crashed next to you, burning the ground next you. This shocked all of the ponies around and forced them to look at you, including the couple kissing. They both looked at you and they could both see the anger in your eyes. You could see the fear in theirs. That broke a little bit of you that could not be healed by magic. She made you happy, but everything had to come to an end sooner or later. Before you could walk to the couple, to tell them that you were done with them, a hoof tapped you on the shoulder. You turned to see a unicorn mare stood next to you. Mane soaked by the rain and coat super damp. You looked at her with wide eyes as she looked at the stallion, with the same anger you looked at them both with. She looked back at you with her ears splayed back and a year welling up in her eyes. "Let's… let's go!" She said with a raspy voice. You looked back at the mare that betrayed you and you smiled. "Glad that he makes you happy!" You shouted, getting annoyed that she didn't just hurt you, but that stallion she was kissing also hurt this mare. You had a feeling that the stallion was this mare's special somepony, but you kept that to yourself. You both walked down the road, to your surprise, instead of going to cover. "I have somewhere that we can go. To get away from all this." She stated as thunder echoed across Canterlot, a tear or a raindrop trailing down her face. "Thank you!" You said sadly. "I need a good distraction after all of that!" You added. "I'm Emination!" She replied, sticking her hoof out. "Blitz… I'm Blitz." I announced proudly, liking this mare already and shaking her hoof with mine. "So Blitz… tell me about yourself!" Emination asked, looking at you like a foal would when being told a story. "Well...that's a long story." you bellowed out playfully. "I got time!" She replied, before you both walked off down the roads of Canterlot. You both didn't look back as you began talking about your past, but that's a story for another day. The lightning blocked out the sky and thunder muted the rain. Just like it should have! Your mind became clear, but this deed would not go unnoticed by you. You would eventually forget about it, but until then, you had to focus on making this mare happy. She needed it!
