> Mlp Slither > by Alrazvick > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > The Meteor > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was a beautiful night in Ponyville. There were no clouds in the sky and no wind was blowing. Twilight Sparkle and her most trusted assistant, Spike, were going to watch a meteor shower from a hill near her castle. Spike have been feeling very lonely lately since Twilight had been very busy the last 2 weeks. She thought that watching the meteor shower with him would be the perfect way of making it up to him, and considering how happy he became, she believes she had succeeded. "Thank you for this Twilight, I really needed this" Spike said with a smile on his face. "You're welcome Spike, that's what friends are for after all. I'm so sorry for not being able to spend more time with you but these 2 weeks have been very hectic." "It's okay, I understand. I just wish that your royal duties didn't take so much of your time and energy." Spike said, this time looking done at his feet. "Believe me, so do I but we both knew that when I became a princess there would be times were I would have little to no free time. Unfortunately the last 2 weeks left me with just that, but let's not think about right now. Let's just relax and enjoy the evening." With that being said both of them continued to watch the night sky, admiring the twinkling stars and the crescent moon, waiting for the meteor shower to begin. Not long after the sky lit up with small lines of fire. Twilight couldn't help but smile when she saw Spike look up to the sky in absolute awe. She wanted to enjoy that moment as much as she could, if there is one thing that she has learned since she became a princess is that nopony has all the time in the world. Not even when you're immortal like Celestia. "Ehh Twilight, is it just me or is that meteor getting closer?" Snapping back to reality, Twilight looked up and realized that Spike was right, one of the meteors was getting closer. Before either of them could utter another word it crashed not too far from where they were. "Wow. Come on Twilight, we gotta check it out!" Spike said as he ran towards the crash site. "Wait for me!" Twilight said a bit anxiously. She didn't want her first assistant to run off alone in the middle of the night. When both of them arrived at the crater they were greeted by an unexpected sight. The meteor was a perfect sphere, red as a brick and had a wrinkle like pattern on its surface. "Wow, it looks like a brain." Spike said. "I have never seen any meteorite like this before! We have to take it back to the castle, imagine the things we can learn from it!" Twilight said excitingly, as her inner scientist took over while studying the strange rock. Suddenly it cracks open, exposing a fleshy inside. "Eww, what the hay is that!" Spike said. "I-I don't know. But I think it's best if we take a step back from it." Twilight said nervously, suddenly no longer interested in studying the meteorite. While they were talking a needle-like object popped out of the fleshy mass and pointed towards Spike. "Ehh Twilight, what is it doing?" Spike said, his voice cracked with fear as the needle started to vibrate. "Spike get away from it!" Twilight yelled as she ran towards him. Barely after she finished that sentence the needle was shot out. Having no time to think or cast a spell, Twilight pushed Spike out of harm's way, only to be hit instead. The needle buried itself inside her flesh on a spot behind her right foreleg. She tried to use her magic to pull it out, but it disappeared into her body before she could. Twilight could feel the needle crawl beneath her skin and muscles, the pain got so intense that she collapsed on the ground shaking. She could only shut her eyes and whimper in pain as the alien parasite continued to wriggle its way through her innards. When it found her spine it followed it up towards her skull and drilled through it effortlessly. It pierced Twilight's brain and in that moment she saw her whole life flash before her eyes. Even the faintest of memories were brought up in vivid detail, her friends and family, every spell she knew, every place she had ever visited, every pony she had ever meet and every secret she knew. All of it was consumed by the parasite along with her very soul as it continued to absorb her brain. Spike was completely paralyzed by fear. He watched his closest friend thrash around in agony with no idea what was happening or what he what he could do to help. Suddenly Twilight stooped moving and was perfectly still. Spike felt like a gaping hole was forming in his chest, wondering if he had just watched her die until he saw that she was still breathing. “Twilight?” He asked as he slowly approached her, his voice barely above a whisper. He saw the wound she got when she took that hit for him. A trail of blood had poured out of the small hole, but otherwise looked no worse than a nasty bug bite. “Twilight?” He asked again as he gently touched her neck. Instantly her eyes flew open, causing Spike to jump back. She got up on all 4 hooves before walking straight towards the library. Her eyes were wide but empty, her posture was rigid and her walking almost mechanical. Spike ran after her, calling her name over and over again but she didn’t seem to hear him. Suddenly Twilight turned around and Spike, being unable to stop himself, ran into her. “Twilight! Are you okay!?” Spike asked her while trying to look into her eyes. She looks like she was tired and dizzy, with her eyes being half closed and dull. She shook her head as if she was trying to wake up from a deep sleep. She looked down on to the worried dragons face and gave him a reassuring smile. “I’m okay Spike.” She said in a calm and gentle voice. “I was just disoriented.” Spike was unsure if he believed that. “What happened?” He asked with great concern “You were laying on the ground convulsing and looked like you were in a lot of pain.” “I’m not sure.” She looked genuinely uncertain but still remained eerily calm. “Regardless I feel fine so I don’t think we have to worry much about it. Let’s get back to the castle and eat something. For some reason I’m really hungry.” > First kill > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spike followed his best friend back to their home while keeping a close eye on her, especially the spot where that needle hit her. It looks like a pretty nasty bug bite and it was a little swollen, but he couldn’t see any signs of discomfort from her. He wasn’t convinced that she was fine however, she was acting a little weird and he knew that she would sometimes power through things, either to keep working on something or to not worry him. They entered the Castle of Friendship and Spike followed Twilight as she continued to walk towards the kitchen. He watched her use her magic to make a huge omelette, using not only all of the eggs but several other random ingredients as well. There were the usual things like mushrooms, tomatoes and onions, but there were also strawberries, peanut butter and pickles. After a few moments of confusion he found his voice again and asked. ”Ehh Twilight, are you sure you are going to want to eat that? It doesn’t look very appetizing and besides don’t you always say that it’s bad to eat a bunch of stuff before going to bed?” He was more than a little nervous when she turned around looked him straight into the eyes. For a split second he thought he was looking at a hungry Timberwolf but that feeling quickly disappeared and was replaced by a general unease. She smiled at him before saying in a reassuring tone. ”Don’t worry, I will be fine. I’m just a little hungry.” She returned to cooking her strange meal while Spike was more creeped out by the second. He decided to leave her alone and walked to his room to sleep, after all it was getting late. On his way he couldn’t stop thinking about Twilight and why she was acting so strangely. ”Maybe that needle did something to her after all. Oh man I really hope that everything will be back to normal tomorrow, otherwise I will have to talk to the others about this if it gets worse.” He brushed his teeth before getting in bed and did his best to forget about everything for now so that he could fall asleep. Meanwhile back in the kitchen Twilight was eagerly devouring the omelette she made. Yet despite eating every last little piece her hunger still wasn’t satisfied. She needed something else. She needed MEAT. But where would she get it? She couldn’t eat Spike, he was both to useful and it would draw way too much attention. In fact she shouldn’t eat a pony either, not yet. With that in mind she left the castle and headed towards the Everfree Forest, making sure that no one would see her. As she stood at the beginning of the path she listened closely for any sounds, she could hear the wind most clearly but there were other things as well. Owls hooting, Timberwolfs howling and leaves being disturbed as creatures moved through them. Before going any further Twilight cast a spell that would muffle any noise she would make before going into the depths of the forest. After about half an hour of hunting she saw her prey, a young deer buck with a saddle back and a wounded leg. Twilight smiled at her good fortune, thinking. “This idiot must have gotten himself lost while gathering herbs. Even if she kills him everypony will assume other predators got him.” She focused her magic before casting another spell, this time to paralyze the deer before he could run away or even scream. As he laid on the ground, unable to move anything except for his eyes, he watched her emerge from the darkness with a sharp knife levitating in front of her. She licked her lips before grabbing both of his right legs with her magic and lifting them up, fully exposing his underside to her. He tried to scream but all he could manage was a soft whimper while his eyes desperately looked for any escape. That all ended however when Twilight stabbed him in the heart with her knife, twisting it to make sure to cause as much damage as possible. The deers eyes widened from the shock and the pain but just a few seconds later they closed has he lost consciousness. With her prey slain Twilight pulled out the knife from his chest and proceeded to gut him, cutting out all of his organs and feasting on his flesh. Having herbivore teeth made it more challenging to eat meat but her knife, magic and her hunger made it all easier. She made sure that nothing even remotely eatable was wasted since there was something extremely rewarding with her meal and for a moment her ravenous hunger was satisfied, but she knew that it wouldn’t be long until she needed more. With almost nothing left except for shredded hide and bones Twilight made her way back towards the castle, after stopping by a river to wash of the blood of course. When she was back home she checked on Spike and saw that he was fast asleep. He looked so cute to her and she couldn’t wait until the day where she would get a chance to eat him without anypony hunting her down afterwards. With fatigue finally setting in she made her way towards her bedroom, and after brushing her teeth to remove the last traces of her late night snack, feel asleep like a rock. As she laid in bed her body thrashed around erratically while something moved underneath her skin. It bulge out in several places and squishy noises could be heard as her organs where mutated and rearranged. During all of this Twilight had a relaxed smile on her face, as if this transformation made her much more comfortable. She awoke the next day full of energy and excitement, now that she has made her first kill she wonder who would be next. She still needed to be careful however, otherwise her friends, especially Spike, might grow suspicious of her new behavior. She would deal with them later, right now her goal was to watch everypony and plan her next move. She meet Spike in the kitchen where he had made her breakfast. He looked at her and said with an enthusiastic voice. ”Good morning Twilight. I hope you are feeling better today than last night. How is your injury?” His voice grew slightly concerned as he gestured towards the spot on her body where the needle hit her, the swelling had disappeared but now it looked like it was becoming a rash. ”Don’t worry Spike, its nothing more serious than a bug bite.” Twilight reassured him with a smile on her face before sitting down at the table and eating her meal. Spike was happy to see her back to her normal self again and hoped that it meant that they could continue with their plans for the day despite what happened last night. “So does that mean that we are still going to meet the others at Sugarcube Corner?” Twilight paused for a moment, as if she searched her memory before her eyes went wide with realization. ”Wow I can’t believe I almost forgot about that. Of course we are going and thanks for reminding me.” “Your welcome Twilight. I wonder what Pinkie has in store for us at the bakery. She did say that she would have a surprise for you.” Twilight giggled ”It’s Pinkie we are talking about. She always has a surprise or party ready, even for the most unusual of circumstances.” After finishing their breakfast and taking care of the dishes the 2 of them headed towards the bakery. As they walked Spike noticed that Twilight was looking around a lot more than usual, especially at the other ponies. It was like she studied each of them briefly while occasionally stopping at a few in particular for what seemed like a deeper analysis. Spike found it to be odd but nothing too unusual since it wouldn’t be the first time Twilight has studied something or somepony in great detail for one of her crazy theories or experiments. The rest of the walk went without any else happening and as they went through the door to the bakery Twilight was immediately pulled into a group hug by her friends. > The planning > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Twilight enjoy being embraced by all of her friends. It felt good to see them again after being stuck working in the castle for so long. They sat at a nearby table with Pinkie practically bouncing as she grabbed the cupcakes and the milkshakes. How she didn’t spill a single drop was beyond Twilight’s ability to understand but she had learned a long time ago that it was best to just accept all of Pinkie’s weirdness. After serving her friends she sat down and smiled before turning her attention towards Twilight. “So tell us. How have you been? What have you been working on? Did you see those falling stars last night?” She blurted out the questions so fast that it was hard to keep up. “Easy easy.” Twilight said with an amused expression. “First I’m fine, especially now that I am with all of you again, although I was pretty exhausted last night but it was nothing a good night sleep couldn’t fix. As for what I was working on, it was mostly cleanup after what Cozy Glow did at the school and planning for next weeks lessons. Also yes Spike and I did see the falling stars, one of them even landed near the castle.” That last part came as a shock to the girls and Rainbow was the first to recover. “Are you serious?! Is it still there or did you bring it to the castle for nerdy stuff?” Twilight smiled before answering. “It’s still outside where it landed. I would be happy to show you if you want to see it.” Spike was about to protest considering what happened last night but before he could get the chance Rainbow nearly jumped out of her seat. “Of course we want to see it! How often do you get a chance to see a rock from space?” This time Rarity was the one to speak up. “I admit that it would be interesting. I remember Twilight that you once showed me that meteorites can sometimes have beautiful pattern hidden inside of them when they are cut or even crystals. Imagine what I could make with that kind of inspiration!” Pinkie giggled at rarity’s excitement. “You would be surprised by what you can find in rocks. Just ask my sister.” Applejack took a sip from her milkshake before speaking. “No offense Twilight but I don’t see the appeal of seeing a rock, even if it’s from space. Especially now that we have so much to do at the farm.” “None taken Applejack I understand. Just make sure you ask one of us for help if you need it. We don’t want you to work yourself to the ground again.” “Thanks I appreciate it.” At this time spike poked twilight in the side to gain her attention. “What?” She asked him “Twilight don’t you think that you should tell them about what happened when you got close to the meteor? I know you said that you are fine but I think that you should let them know in case anything happens.” Rarity was the first to comment. “What Are you talking about spike? What happened? Twilight let out a sigh a started to explain. “When I got close to the meteor it shot out a needle like object and it hit me.” She showed them the spot which was already healing, albeit with a rash forming around it. “I passed out for a moment but then I woke up like nothing happened.” Spike frowned a little since he didn’t like that she still didn’t take it more seriously. “Twilight I wouldn’t call you thrashing around on the ground as if you were in agony nothing. You made me really worried and I thought that you were going to die!” Spike nearly yelled at her. Everyone stared at him and he quickly felt embarrassed. “Ehh sorry about that….” He apologized to his friends before taking a cookie.  Twilight placed one of her wings on him, bringing him a little closer. “It’s okay Spike, I am sorry that I scared you but I assure you that everything is okay. The only thing I got from the meteorite was a small bug bite, nothing more.” The girls all took a look at the spot Twilight showed earlier and each of them reacted differently. Fluttershy offered to put a bandaid on it, Rarity recommended a skin lotion for the rash, Rainbow wondered if it was itchy, Pinkie offered a special Get Well cupcake and Applejack said that it reminded her of a nasty wasp sting she got while working on the farm a few months ago. Twilight assured her friends that it wasn’t necessary but was happy to accept the cupcake. They keep talking for another 3 hours, mostly about either memories from their previous adventures or things that they were currently up to. It all ended too soon for Twilight however as she had to get back to the castle to keep working.  They all said their goodbyes before returning to their various homes. During the trip back to the castle Spike and Twilight had another talk. “See? I told you that everything would turn out fine. I appreciate that you worry about me Spike but it really isn’t necessary.” “Yeah yeah I get that now but I still want you to let me know if you start to feel funny or anything like that.” “I promise that I do” she said with a smile. “Thanks. So what should we do tomorrow? Last time I checked we are done with most of the work for the school.” “I think I will take a day off and read a good book. I need some time to myself after all paperwork.” “I agree you should definitely get some rest.” They arrive at the castle where Twilight began with the preparations for her nightly activities all while being very careful to make sure that Spike wouldn’t be suspicious. When the time was right she zapped him with a sleeping spell to knock him out before picking him up and tucking him into his bed. It was time for her to hunt again. She stalked the dark streets of ponyvile, looking for somepony she could grab without anypony else noticing. It didn’t take long until she spotted Lyra and Bon Bon walking home after what Twilight assumed was a date.  She only needed one of them. Using another spell she conjured some rope and tied it into a lasso. She wasn’t nearly as good at this as Applejack but she had her magic to make it easier. She aimed carefully and waited for just the right moment before throwing the lasso which snared Bon Bon around her neck. She gasped for air as Twilight used her magic to pull her into the dark alley.  Lyra reacted almost instantly and used her own magic to grab the rope and get her back while trying to loosen it’s grip on Bon Bon and take away the pressure off her throat. Twilight was much stronger however and easily overpowered her Lyra while remaining practically invisible in the darkness. She blasted the mare with dark magic before Bon Bon was dragged into the shadows and they both were teleported away. Lyra recoved quickly and frantically started to look for them, screaming Bon Bon’s name hoping that she would get a response. However she soon realized that they were both gone and broke down crying. A stallion had heard her screaming and he rushed to see what was wrong. Lyra just wrap her forelegs around him as she kept crying. “It’s my mare friend Bon Bon. Somepony took her!” She cried out while the stunned stallion tried his best to comfort her.
