See it’s originally meant to be a simple reduction spell, meant for making inanimate objects smaller. I am trying to infuse the spell into the crystal, so anyone can simply point and focus on the object, and the spell will be cast through the crystal to shrink said object, and later return it to regular size” Twilight explained to the young man as they both stood on the terrace, pointing to a simple couch she had brought up earlier for use in the test. “If it’s successful, I want to see about mass producing them for commercial use, think of it Anon! This could be used to help ponies transport vast amounts of resources using a fraction of the space normally needed, as well as lessening the weight” Twilight said excitedly as she placed her notes down on a small glass table at her side, Anon heard her mutter something in a quiet tone about Pianos which was a bit confusing, but he didn’t comment on it.  Anon did see the benefits of it, when he first arrived in Equestria and the initial shock had worn off, he began looking for employment in a range of different professions, including a stint at a removalist company. Thinking back to a series of heavy furniture he’d had to help lift, he would have loved a crystal like this back then.  “So all you should have to do is point this at the couch and think of it shrinking” Twilight said handing him the crystal before stepping back, having picked up her notebook she prepared to take write. “Ok, here goes” Anon replied after a moment’s pause as he turned to the couch and pointed the crystal at it, part of him was tempted to make a harry potter joke at the resemblance of a wand, but knew Twilight would get annoyed. He’d explained to her in great detail about the books, movies and lore shortly after his arrival, and she’d ended up going on several rants about the portrayal of magic in the series as well as the way Hogwarts was run and the danger the student’s found themselves in. “I mean honestly Anon! If this Dumbledore character was at Celestia’s School for Gifted Unicorn’s, he’d be fired at the very least, not to mention the amount of criminal charges he’d be facing! I mean seriously, they’re children! And don’t get me started on the legal, ethical and moral implications of this ‘Triwizard tournament’” Yeah, he wasn’t going to open that particular can of worms again.  Turning his attention back to the couch, he focused on it with the crystal still aimed at it, expecting the crystal to start glowing or some kind of beam of magic to shoot out of it. However after several seconds nothing happened… “Um, I don’t think it’s working” he said turning to Twilight who had lowered her notebook. “Huh, that’s strange, I was sure there’d be some kind of reaction” Twilight said with a look of confusion as she walked over and took the crystal as Anon offered it back to her. “Maybe you didn’t put the spell on it properly” Anon said shrugging, causing Twilight to shake her head. “No I triple checked to make sure, the spell did attach itself to the crystal, Hmmm maybe it’s an issue with the crystal itself” Twilight said passing it back to him. “Wait right here, I have some backups I can get to try it. This is an experiment after all, you can’t always expect the first test to succeed” she said happily, her tone seeming to pick up an air of excitement over the thought of more chances to test her theorem.  Anon merely nodded as she disappeared back down the hall, deciding on leaning back on the terrace and enjoying the sun and light breeze that blew through the area.  Looking at the crystal for a moment, he still felt nothing coming from it, maybe the crystal itself was just a dud, tapping it lightly against the terrace rail he was about to put it down on the glass table across from him when the crystal suddenly began to vibrate lightly. His eyes widening in surprise, Anon saw the crystal begin to glow a bright purple color. “Uh, Twilight!” Anon called out before letting out an alarmed gasp as the crystal began releasing sparks of magic, causing him to drop it. As the crystal hit the ground it stopped glowing, causing Anon to let out a relieved sigh as he looked down at his hand, relieved to see it was fine. This relief didn’t last as the crystal sprang to life once more, glowing brightly before a crack appeared in its side which immediately spread across it. Anon was about to run back inside to get Twilight, but before he could make a move the crystal exploded outwards in a bright purple light, engulfing him and the terrace.  When the light died down the terrace was still in one piece, several seconds passed before Twilight appeared, a confused expression etched onto her face. “Anon what was that noise? Are you….ok…” Twilight began, her words dying off as she saw that Anon was nowhere to be seen. Twilight was about to turn around and look back inside the castle for him, when the sight of the crystal on the ground caught her attention, it was now reduced to a pile of splintered pieces on the ground with a scorch mark surrounding them.  Leaning down to inspect them, Twilight let out a gasp at another sight that caught her eye. The couch which had previously been unaffected by the spell was now tiny, as was the glass table that was across from it, picking them up in her hands she inspected them carefully before her eyes widened in realization. “Anon…..oh Celestia!” she exclaimed. Anon couldn’t hear anything other than the ringing in his ears from the loud bang from when the crystal exploded, his eyes were temporarily blinded from the light and he was lying on his back on a solid surface. The explosion must have blown him back and disoriented him, as he felt like he had flown through the air before having impacted against something softer and seemingly rolling before falling again and landing on the current hard surface. Letting out a groan as his eyesight began to come back to him, rolling over he managed to push himself up and stand, albeit shakily as the bright light began to give way to shapes of color and what looked like a wall to his side.  His hearing began to recover too, the loud ringing slowly going away. Shaking his head, Anon blinked several times as he shapes became clearer and clearer, putting his hand out the steady himself, he found the ‘wall’ had a rough coarse feeling which had a slight give to it, not a solid material, he wasn’t at the castle. Had the spell somehow messed up and teleported him away? The sounds began to become clearer as he looked at the wall, his sight finally returning to normal as he stared at it in confusion. Reaching a hand out he ran it along the material, it sort of looked like- Anon was cut off from his thoughts at the sound of a large clanking sound which made him jump back in surprise, looking over in the direction of the sound as his hearing finally returned to normal, Anon’s eyes narrowed at the sight. It was a huge bag, more like a sack that was bulging from it’s contents. Beside the bag was a large golden disc that had fallen to the ground, Anon quirked his head to the side in confusion before his eyes widened in shock. A giant hand descended down from above, causing Anon to take several steps back as the hand plucked up the disc and dropped it in the bag. It was a Bit, a huge golden Bit. Realization dawned on him as Anon put the pieces together, the crystal’s explosion obviously having had an effect on him, making him smaller and obviously the feeling of flying must have been the result of the explosion blowing him back away from the castle. But where was he?! Looking around in confusion he walked back away from the large course ‘wall’ and looking up above, his mouth fell open as he saw the giant figure now more clearly. Two enormous brown boots were shifting behind what he realized was a market stall, the large coarse ‘wall’ he’d seen was a burlap sack.  A burlap sack full of apples...
