Canterlot, the capital of Equestria, the city of the sun and the moon. City of the nobles, the dreamers and in the night, the wicked. One might think that no place is safer than Canterlot, but you would be wrong. A foul mist of corruption and evil has slowly been spreading throughout the kingdom, spreading its seeds of fear and greed into the hearts of those ponies who are not able to resist.

Tonight, as Luna's full moon bathed the lands in her graceful light, the villains in the shadows who prey on the innocent step out to hunt. Tonight, while most ponies slept, a gang of criminals were waiting for their boss to return. The building they had chosen to hide in was old, an abandoned cafe nopony owned or used anymore. Nopony would likely come around anytime soon, so for now this was the perfect hideout.

The ponies sat around on old crates or old furniture, playing cards, drinking and otherwise simply passing the time. "So.." A grey unicorn said as he placed his cards on one of the old tables. "Any idea when the boss will be back?"

A yellow earth pony shook her head and kept looking at her cards. "Well he is getting the bits with Hoof Finder and Jackbox, if the old stallion is smart he'll pay up."

"What if he has alerted the guards?" Another earth pony asked and was the last of the three card players.

"He would not dare, the boss told him if he breathed a word of this to the Blue Guard he would never see his daughter again." The unicorn replied and then grunted when the male earth pony beat his hoof with his cards. "Speaking off.." He continued and looked over at two pegasi who was eating their hay fries. "How's our guest doing?"

The two pegasi looked to the corner of the room, over at the last pony in the building, their captive. A white unicorn mare with a blue mane and blue eyes. Though her eyes were red and tired from having cried so much, she was clearly scared and had for now lost her will to struggle. Her forelegs had been tied with rope down her sides and her hind legs had been bound together. Over her muzzle they had tied a white cloth to keep her screams, protests and crying muffled.

"How are you doing sweetheart?" One of the pegasi asked with a grin.

The mare known as Lucy Light looked up at her captors, moving her body a little. "Mmfh..."

The brown pegasus smirked and turned towards the others. "She's fine, but she's a little tied up at the moment, ha! Eh..What?" He stopped his laugh the second he saw the others just staring at him disappointingly.

Before the silence became too awkward however the door went up and their boss stepped in with the two last members. The rest stood up expectantly, dropping cards as well as food to see what their boss had with him. He gave them all a smirk and said. "It's payday boys."

All the ponies laughed and cheered, today they had earned themselves a large amount of bits. Hoof Finder and Jackbox took out the bags of bits from their saddlebags and placed them on the floor. The bags were heavy from the bits that laid within and made a satisfying clunk as it hit the floor.

They started to count when one of the ponies looked over at the bound and gagged mare. "What about her?"

The boss looked over at her and shrugged. "We don't need her anymore, take her out back and kill her."

"Mmpfh!?" Lucy Light's eyes went wide with horror as she shook her head. "Hmf-mmfph!" Tears built up in her eyes as two ponies approached her with a sinister smile. She struggled with all her might, afraid for her life and that she was never going to see her family ever again. Never see her mother's smile or her father's warm chuckle. Never again see that sweet stallion at the bakery, her life was gonna end here this night, her family was never gonna see her again, ever... She squeezed her eyes tightly, not bearing to see the faces of the ponies that were gonna kill her.

"What the hay?!"

Somepony yelled out in question which caused Lucy Light to open her eyes again, expecting to see the old cafe and her captors she instead saw darkness. She could hear the sound of hoofs moving around, the sound of switching being tried, but the cafe remained in darkness.

"Relax.." She could hear the oldest of the lot say. "It's probably just a blown fuse, Jackbox, go out and check it out." Lucy heard the unicorn give a quick grunt in confirmation before his hoof steps moved out of the room.

There was silence for what seemed like forever, it felt like each minute was stretched out to become two minutes, like time was slowing down. Lucy was so afraid, she knew what was coming when the lights came back on, which could be any second now.

Only.. They didn't come on...

Finally the oldest pony groaned. "What the buck is taking him so long, Wind Chaser, go out and see what that idiot is doing."

The Pegasus let out a sigh and did what he was told, leaving the room expecting to find his companion trying to figure out what went in where. He walked the dark empty hallway, down to the back where the fuse box was, Jackbox was pretty stupid for one who could perform magic. As he got nearer he felt a breeze gently hitting his fur, was the backdoor open or something?

He did not have to wait long for the answer, when he finally reached the end he did indeed find the backdoor open, but that was not the only thing he found. His eyes went wide as he saw Jackbox knocked out on the floor, slumped against the wall like a rag doll. Feeling his heart beat faster Wind Chaser knew he had to alert the others, only as he turned around he let out a scream!

"What was that?!"

They all turned towards where Jackbox and Wind Chaser had left. Lucy's eyes went wide and even though she had started to get used to the darkness, she could only see the dark silhouettes of the rest of her captors. Lucy looked around, thinking this might be her only and last chance to escape!

She laid down on the floor and started to crawl the best she could, she knew her chances were slim, but perhaps if she got into the kitchens she might be able to get a knife and-

"Ha! Where do you think you are going?"

She felt someone grab and turn her around, it was the yellow earth pony. "Do you think you can just run away?" She raised a hoof to smack her when suddenly a loud crack got everypony's attention. The room went silent and all the eyes turned to the top of the stairs.

Lucy's eyes grew wide again, this time not from horror, but in awe. There on the stairs stood a masked dark stallion, only thanks to the little moonlight that hit the stairs could she notice his features. He wore a black hat, a mask and a cape in the same dark colors, his fur was dark grey and his eyes were red. She noticed what looked like a belt strapped around his hips, something was attached to it, something that was particularly long.

The ponies looked shocked and then angry. "Who the hayseed are you?!" One of them yelled.

"Who cares! Kill him!" Their boss commanded.

Three of the five ponies ran towards him, but before they could even reach the staircase, the stallion jumped into the room. His hoofs caught the chandelier and he swung himself towards two of the three ponies coming from him. Using the momentum of the swing he moved towards them and kicked them both under their muzzles, sending them flying backwards and landing with a nasty crash.

The last of the three stopped and turned around to attack, though, as if he knew what the last stallion was going to do, the masked colt jumped off the chandelier and landed right on the edge of the table. Of course the table flew down on the end he had landed on, sending the other end straight up and with another loud CRACK!

The raised end of the table had smacked the stallion up on the jawline, sending him flying back and landing onto another table with all the cards and drinks. The mare who held Lucy down glared at the masked stallion, with a grunt she jumped off and charged towards him in the hopes of tackling him. Lucy watched with horror as one of the ponies he had kicked got up with a blade in his mouth!

Once again his timing was amazing, he made a complete turn, swinging his body so he could kick one of the broken table legs on the floor towards the charging mare. Though that was not what sent chills up her spine, not even as his kick aimed true and the mare was hit in the head with the table leg and crashed into the overturned tables. No, it was because using the momentum to kick the leg was only half the trick. As he came to a stop to face the other attacker, he used the sudden stop and a single wiggle with his hips to make something appear.

It only took about a second after he came to a stop, from his belt flew up a long rapier. It shot out of it's black scabbard, the hilt moving fast up and the blade quickly revealed. The masked stallion managed to catch the hilt with his mouth and bring the blade into the path of the knife! The two blades met with a singing-

CLIIIING~

The attacker was clearly shocked by the sudden appearance of the sword, but also that he had managed to block his knife so fast. He looked up into the red eyes of the masked stallion, expecting to see him glaring; he instead found himself caught off guard as the stallion winked at him with a small grin.

Before the pony knew what was going on, the masked stallion made a quick circle movement with his head. His rapier spun the knife out of the pony's mouth leaving him with no weapon. Before he even had a chance to try something else, the masked pony had turned and used his hind legs to kick him across the floor.

"Drop the sword.."

He heard someone scowl and the dark grey pony turned to find the last pony standing. He was a well built older earth pony, no doubt the leader of this gang, but more importantly he held Lucy Light in his forelegs with a knife close to her throat.

"I said drop the sword!" He now bellowed as the masked attacker walked a few steps closer. "Or the mare dies.." The stallion smirked as their attacker came to a stop and dropped the sword. "Good colt, now place the bits in the saddle bags over there and.."

He kept talking, but neither the masked stallion or Lucy Light listened, their eyes were locked and in the moment Lucy felt like she was going to be saved. He had come to save her, it was almost a conversation as his daring eyes spoke to her, she needed to trust him and she needed to do something to give him an opening.

In that moment she suppressed her fear, glared up at her captor. The idiot had moved the knife down a little, dropping his guard around her, thinking she was just a stupid helpless mare, well, she was gonna make him regret thinking that! With a slow movement she moved to bend her hind legs a little, her captor hardly noticed as his attention was at the masked figure staring him down.

Lucy then straightened her legs with such force she jumped into him and made him stumble back, dropping the knife almost instantly. "You little bitch!" He yelled and raised a hoof to punch her, but to his dismay he forgot about the other pony in the room. Before he even had a chance to as much as touch her, another hoof grabbed him and then another pressed on his chest, pushing him against the wall with such force all air escaped him.

He did not scream however, he did not struggle or yell, he did not dare as the blade of the rapier was merely inches from his throat. The stallion was now face to face with the masked intruder, his red eyes glaring at him with such fire all of the bravado and the will to fight left him.

"P-please have mercy.." The stallion begged while being careful how he let out the words, he feared the blade so close to cut his beloved throat.

The moment seemed to last maybe two minutes, probably shorter than that, but the silence was interrupted as the masked stallion punched the gang leader in the face. The punch to the jaw sent his head back into the wall behind him, knocking him out instantly.

He slumped to the floor while Lucy's masked rescuer moved his sword back into its scabbard, she watched as he turned to her with a small charming smile. "It's gonna be okay." He said, his voice was strong, commanding, yet with a hint of bravado and playfulness. It was hard for her to describe it, it was not deep, but it was not high either, he did not have an accent either.

Moving over to her, Lucy was grateful to him as he untied the gag from her mouth. "Mmfh-ah-t-thank you..." She sighed and took a deep breath, finally being able to breathe fully again. She looked up behind her as he untied her restraints. "Who are you?"

The stallion chuckled a little. "A friend." He simply said as the last of the ropes were untied. "Now, go and find the guards, tell them what happened here, I'll make sure they stay put."

She nodded a bit, blushing as the masked vigilante was a bit taller than her and his beautiful eyes so captivating. His cape made it impossible for her to see his cutie mark or if he had wings or not. She could see he was clearly not a unicorn like herself, but whether he was an earth pony or a Pegasus was masked from her. "Y-yes, I will do this." She hurried to the front door, but before she left she glanced at him one final time. "But what is your name? Please sir, I must know."

The stallion looked over his shoulder and sent her a small grin. "You may call me, Night Wonder."

Chapter 1: Welcome Home

View Online

'My dearest son,

I hate to call you home, but things have changed since you left.

The elements of harmony, the return of princess Luna, Discord defeated.

Though that is not what worries me.

Two years ago the princesses agreed to the formation of a new army,

they hoped this new force would make the kingdom more safe.

Though I fear they are becoming a tool for the nobles to take power.

I cannot confront them, neither do I have any proof of any plots,

but I can see them become more greedy with each passing day.

The common pony suffers, I fear corruption has taken a hold of the kingdom.

I am old, my son, a fresh pair of eyes in the court would help. Maybe you can see what I cannot.

We must protect the princesses, I fear the nobles are plotting something, so we must act.

Write to me as soon as possible and come home my son.

Your loving father,
Noble Blade.'

Tornado had read the letter at least a dozen times since he received it. Even now the slight bumps and jerking of the train did not bring his eyes off it. Tornado was a dark grey Pegasus stallion with blue eyes and a sword with wings for a cutie mark. For the past seven years he had traveled the world, hoping to experience adventure and learn about the world past Equestria's borders.

He had indeed had many adventures, and picked up a great many skills along the way, skills he had hoped to show off when he would finally go home. He let out a sigh and turned to look out at the landscape that passed by the window, however, it did nothing to take his mind off things. His Travel companion seemed to notice this and poked his leg with his own, Tornado turned to him and smiled.

Across from him sat Gear Fixer, a yellow unicorn with small glasses, a white shirt and an orange vest. Gear Fixer had been his best friend since school, so when Tornado decided to travel, Fixer of course decided to come with. There was a slight problem though, Gear Fixer was a mute. It was an affliction he was born with, but despite this he was always the optimistic inventor pony that he had always been.

Fixer rolled his eyes and pointed to the letter. "Sorry Fixer, I am just nervous I guess. My father is not one to worry like this, for him to write this to me.." He sighed. "Well things must be bad.."

Fixer held up a newspaper and pointed to the front page, on it was a picture of a gang of criminals tied up and an N carved into the wall above them. Fixer smirked and punched his hoofs into the air like he was boxing before pointing at Tornado.

Tornado could not help but laugh a bit. Thankfully no one saw them as they had reserved a first class compartment for themselves, so they, or Tornado, could speak freely. "Yes.. It may have been a bold move, but my father was right. Things have changed.. But at least the newspapers have started reporting on it now, which gives me a nice alibi for when I arrive."

Nopony except for Gear Fixer knew Tornado had in fact been in Canterlot a few days ago, making an appearance as this mysterious masked vigilante known as Night Wonder. When Tornado first received the letter they sped across the borders into Equestria, he wanted to see this crime and the corruption of the Blue Guard for himself. Back then he had come up with a plan, if he was to fight this fight without risking his friends and family, he needed to fight with a mask. To take a new name and become the defender of justice, the champion of the common ponies.

Tornado knew if this Night Wonder showed up at the exact same time as him, someone would figure it out. So instead he had sent a letter, explaining when he would return so he could sneak into Canterlot and appear as Night Wonder a few times. It gave him a nice little alibi, but now he needed to decide how to approach this as himself.

Tornado had always been known as a wild spirited and adventurous young colt, one for action, one to get dirty with the common pony despite his rich and noble family. His father only implored this, their family had always been humble despite them being one of the oldest and richest families in all of Equestria.

As if reading his mind Fixer sent him a small encouraging smile. Tornado sighed. "Well since you asked, I am worried who we can trust and who we cannot, even my father won't know all his enemies. I must make sure ponies think I'm completely harmless in order to throw them off."

Fixer put a hoof under his chin and thought for a few moments, then he grinned. Tornado tilted his head as Fixer started to explain his idea with his hooves. Once again he pretended to fight, then he shook his head, held up a hoof as if to say. "Instead." He put his hooves together and then opened them like he was opening a book, he made a face, pretending he was some important teacher or noble.

Tornado laughed and grinned. "Ahh, an excellent idea Fixer! Instead of a stallion of action, I shall become a stallion of letters, an innocent scholar only interested in the arts and sciences!" Both of them shared a smirk, but Fixer was not done. He pointed to himself with an eager nod. "You want to play a character as well? Very well, you shall be the fool!"

Fixer grimaced at the thought which made Tornado laugh. He then pointed to his own ears, held them down and nodded to Tornado. Instantly Tornado understood, they had been friends long enough for Tornado to understand him without much effort. "You want to pretend you cannot hear?" Tornado asked and Fixer eagerly nodded. "Very good, you shall be my eyes and ears behind my back!"

"Next stop, Canterlot!"

The conductor called out, with that Tornado looked out the window with a big smile. Sure he had been here two days ago, spending a week in the shadows as Night Wonder, but now, now he was returning as himself, he was returning home.

Canterlot station was huge, it was the capital train station after all. Many tracks led out into the world, ponies from far and wide stepped onto these platforms when they first arrived here. It was glorious, the roof marking a bow from one side to the other, creating enough space to have a small castle in here.

The two stallions got off the train and started to move down the platform, none of them could keep from smiling, they were home. However, the smile slowly faded as they saw soldiers at the end of the platform, searching ponies. "What is going on?" Tornado asked one of the conductors.

The conductor groaned. "Checkpoint, the city garrison search anyone who enters the city now.." He sighed. "If you have anything of value, I suggest you hide it. I hear the soldiers have a habit of stealing."

Tornado frowned as he looked at his saddlebag, he knew he could not let the soldiers find the letter from his father. turning to face Fixer he gave him a small nod towards their bags. "Burn my father's letter, they must not suspect he has summoned me back to Canterlot." He reached into one of the bags and retrieved the letter. With a simple glow from Fixer's horn the paper caught fire, but due to his magic the fire was quick and contained, incinerating the letter within seconds, leaving nothing but ash.

Not a moment too soon either, just as they got rid of the ash a chubby soldier, dressed in a blue coat and a blue cordovan hat, walked towards them with a big smile. "Tornado?" He asked and for a moment Tornado was confused, but then he saw the cutie mark, a barrel pouring wine.

Tornado broke into a smile. "Berry Mark?" Tornado and Fixer walked towards the chubby earth pony, both of them had a surprised look on their faces. Berry Mark had been in the same class as them, but he was a bit slow, but had a good heart and a lovely deep singing voice. "What are you doing here? In uniform and all, joined the army then?"

Berry Mark nodded. "Yeah, though, between you and I, it is not as exciting as I thought, but I'm a sergeant now!"

Fixer raised an eyebrow at that, when he thought of soldiers he thought of the Royal Guard. Now those sergeants, they were some of the best of the best, how the buck did Berry Mark of all ponies get to become a sergeant?

Tornado smiled at his friend before they started to walk towards the checkpoint. "Now what is all this?"

Berry Sighed. "Yes, I'm sorry. It's the new Captain, nopony enters the city without being checked, it was not like this at first.."

"The new captain you say?" Tornado asked.

"Oh yes." Berry confirmed. "The old Captain of the Blue Guard was very nice, but he was old. He was the one that promoted me to sergeant! The new Captain, well, he is very strict, he is the one who came up with these checkpoints at the gates and station.. I'm sorry Tornado, I don't give the orders, I just carry them out."

Tornado sighed. "Very well sergeant, carry on then." Berry nodded, but stopped as he watched Tornado turn to Fixer and make some strange movements with his hooves.

"Uhm.." Berry tilted his head. "What are you doing?"

"Oh, I was just telling Fixer to put his saddlebag down so you can search it." Tornado explained and then faked a gasp. "Forgive me my friend, I forgot to tell you, Fixer has lost his hearing."

Berry frowned. "He has?"

Tornado nodded while Fixer pretended to be confused about their conversation. "Yes, he was working on an invention and it blew up in his face.. I don't know if his hearing shall be back, but for now he is as deaf as he is mute.."

"I am so sorry my friend." Berry said and placed a hoof on Fixer's shoulder. "I hope you're okay."

Fixer continued to look confused, but simply nodded at him. The two of them placed the saddlebags on the platform cement and two other soldiers walked over to search them. Luckily, Tornado had hidden his Night Wonder equipment in his old home, just in case something like this were to happen.

The soldiers found nothing, some books, some papers, letters or sketches, but nothing that was worth confiscating. The two soldiers sighed and closed the saddlebags before Tornado and Fixer put them back on. "So, are we done here sergeant?" Tornado asked.

Berry nodded. "Yes, I'll make sure to tell the captain you have arrived, he always wants to know if any pony of note comes to the city."

Tornado had hoped to avoid that, but there was no way around it. "Please send him my compliments." Berry Mark offered a quick and friendly salute, thanking him a few times before he went back to his duties.

Tornado and Fixer made their way outside into the paved street, the noise of the city hitting them like nostalgia. However, even the familiar smells, sounds and looks did nothing to stop his worries. "I knew there were checkpoints at the gates, even at the Skyport, I saw them when I was here a few days ago, but.. I did not think it was this bad.." He sighed and looked at the beautiful city that stretched out before them. "Things really have changed Fixer.."

Fixer placed a hoof on his friend's shoulder, he smiled when Tornado looked at him. He then moved his hoof towards the city in a theatrical way and Tornado smirked. "You're right, no time to be gloomy, we are home!"

The lively paved streets were as they left them, ponies all around, mostly unicorns, all moving around, shopping, chatting and trotting all around them. It was pure nostalgia for them both, the paved streets, the beautiful canals with it's fresh crystal clear water that ran through the city. There were a lot of parks, gardens, plazas, shops, cafes, libraries and so much else besides.

Of course now and again you would pass two soldiers from the Blue Guard patrolling, usually one Pegasus with a spear and one earth pony or unicorn with a rapier in his belt. Tornado thought it odd that there were so many guards patrolling now, seven years ago that was certainly not the case. Then again from what he could understand from the rumors, from his dad's letters, a lot had happened.

Tornado and Fixer took their time walking through the city, taking in everything as they passed. Turning down one of the streets they moved towards the mountain itself, towards Blade family home. It was still within the city walls, but it was out where things were greener, fields with fruits, small forest areas and so on. There, beside one of the waterfalls they spotted a huge manor overlooking the fields and the city, Tornado could not help but to move a little faster.

The two stallions moved up the dirt road, up the hill, beside the fields until they finally reached their home. By this time, Celestia's sun was starting to set and the first stars had started to appear. They just barely got through the gate of the fence before they heard someone squeal.

"Fixer!"

Tornado smirked as Fixer blushed bashfully. A white unicorn mare sped towards them with big teary eyes, but a huge smile plastered on her muzzle. It was Caramel Dream, Gear Fixer's mother and family cook/friend in the Blade family home. She pulled her boy into a tight hug. "Oh my little colt, how I've missed you!" She turned to face Tornado. "Master Tornado, it is so good to see you again."

Tornado smiled. "You too Caramel, I miss your baking."

She smirked. "I bet you do." She pulled him in for a tight hug, both of them. Caramel held on for a while before she finally let go. "You two have grown so much, come now, I am sure your father would want to see you." She told her son, but raised an eyebrow as he did not react. "Gear? Dear?"

Tornado knew this was gonna be the hardest part, lying to the ponies that mattered the most to them. "I'm sorry Caramel, but Fixer had an accident with one of his inventions, he cannot hear a thing.."

Caramel sighed. "I knew this was going to happen.." If one did not know Caramel, one would think her reaction was kind of cold. Though Fixer's father was also an inventor, and as far as Tornado could remember he had a habit of blowing things up too, so Caramel was used to these sorts of injuries. "Well I will take care of him, why don't you go up and see your father, he has been so impatient."

Tornado smiled. "Thank you Caramel." He looked at Fixer and made some hoof movements while mouthing clearly. 'I'll see you later'. Fixer nodded and walked into the kitchen with his mother.

Tornado approached the stone steps to get to the door, however as he moved up the door opened and an older stallion stepped out. He had light grey fur, noble features, a silver beard and two swords crossing for a cutie mark. Tornado stopped as he gazed upon his father, there they stood, looking at one another taking in everything that had changed about them.

It was Noble Blade who broke the silence. "Hello my son.." He smiled and held out his hooves. "Welcome home!"

"Father!" Tornado exclaimed and ran to him.

The older stallion hugged him tightly. They held each other for a bit before Noble Blade pulled back and looked over his son. "It is good to have you home!"

"It is good to be home, father"

Noble grinned. "Come, we have much to discuss."

Soon enough Tornado found himself in the large dining room, it's wooden walls were as always so relaxing and cozy, not to mention expensive. Though the topic quickly turned from his travels to why his father had summoned him home.

Dinner was a bit more, stiff, than what Tornado had hoped for. His father had arranged dinner so only the two of them would dine together, which was disappointing, but he understood his father's haste. He started telling everything that had happened while he was gone, everything from the elements of harmony, the return of princess Luna, Discord, Shining Armor marrying princess Candace, everything that had happened up until now.

So it seemed the princess had been advised to form this new army. The elements of harmony could not be everywhere after all, the ponies needed something more stable to protect them in the future.

"But." His father continued as he rose from his chair. "I fear the nobles are using the soldiers as a way to take power away from the princesses.." He grunted frustrated. "Of course I would tell them this, but I need proof.."

Tornado trusted his father's gut feeling, but he was right. Confronting the princesses with accusations and with no proof, it was a fool's errand, not one that could serve their needs. "Father, if this is true, surely ponies would tell them this right? Surely they would not ignore outright oppression?"

"Of course they wouldn't!" Noble said and looked at his son sternly. "But there are things the general population will not know, any corruption can be well hidden, even blamed on clerical error. The oppression of which I speak is small, yes, but it grows, the check points, the sudden raids, the increase of taxes." He trotted over to him. "Son, all of this is well hidden from them, nopony dares to confront them, we are all risking something, we are all being watched.."

Tornado was quite disturbed, normally he would imagine his father never being afraid of talking to the princess openly, but, if the whole system had been infiltrated with webs of corrupt ministers, nobles and officers, then yes.. It would be dangerous to make a move openly.

"Even crime has gone up, it is being used as an excuse to train more soldiers.. Of course they won't feel the same in every city, town or village, but know this much. The plot is getting thicker every day, I don't mean to accuse all, but I know some nobles are moving these chess pieces, strengthening their position, taking more and more control ever so slowly." His voice was grim.

"Well father, what do you suggest we do?" Tornado asked knowing now he had to play his part, just as Fixer had done. "Maybe it would be best to wait for a bit.."

"Wait?" His father looked shocked. "The city Commandant and the Captain are the worst kind of ponies, a dishonor to every soldier and officer under the royal banner! This is not the time to wait, it is time for action, that is why I called you home!"

Tornado bumped his hoof down at the table and stood up. "You're right father." He trotted over to the desk and got out pen and paper. "I am going to sit down and write a detailed letter of complaint to the city commandant. Maybe even to the princesses!"

His father rolled his eyes. "The letter will be ignored and the other will never reach the princess.. They have become the law." His father looked at him with a determined spark in his eyes. "We can confront them all, next time we are all gathered, you and me confront them all, right there in front of the royal sisters. We fight if we must!"

Tornado stood up. "Calm yourself father, the use of force should be our last resort."

Noble Blade took in a deep breath. "To think a son of mine would show such.. Cowardice.." His voice dripped with disgust, but then he took another deep breath and placed a hoof on his son's shoulder. "You are tired my son, go on up and rest. We shall discuss this more tomorrow after our trip to the palace."

Tornado nodded a little. "With your permission father..." With that being the last word between them for this evening, Tornado went upstairs to his old room. When he went inside he saw Fixer waiting for him, giving him a quizzical look. "Fixer.." He started after closing the door behind him. "I just did something that I am very ashamed of.. I've just convinced my father I am a spineless weakling.." He trotted over to the window and looked out towards the city. It sparkled with lights, not to mention the massive palace.

Tornado sighed. "If we confront the nobles openly like he wants to do, his life will be in danger. No, we must go around it all, we must root out the problem itself without bringing our loved ones in danger." He gave Fixer the same determined look his father had given him this evening. "It seems there will be more work for Night Wonder."

Fixer grinned and nodded. They had already settled on this matter before they arrived this afternoon, using Night Wonder to fight crime. By now however it became clear things were much more complicated than they first anticipated. Fixer let out a yawn, it had been a long day and Tornado smiled at his old friend. "Quite right." Tornado walked over to him. "Let's rest for the night, we will see what tomorrow will bring. Goodnight my friend."

After Fixer left the room Tornado returned to the window and gazed upon the palace. His mind raced, though he had already made Night Wonder known to the city, he wondered if he could really use his vigilante persona to fight the corrupt officials. To be honest, he was not really sure if this was gonna work at all. Letting out a sigh he retired to his bed, he would have another long day tomorrow.

Funny.. He had met princess Celestia several times, as a noble it was not uncommon. Though he had never met her sister, he heard rumors about the whole episode. Nightmare Moon's return, the redemption and rescue of the princess, she had to be something amazing. After all, when the rumors confirmed her return to her royal duties, Tornado did notice the night sky looking more beautiful than before. Now he just wondered....

Was she just as beautiful..?

"Sister."

Luna stopped as she heard Celestia's voice. "Good morning dear sister, what can I do for you?" Luna yawned as she turned to face her. Luna was tired, she hoped Celestia was not here to ask her to go to some meeting, some sort of royal event or anything right now, she just wanted to sleep.

Celestia noticed this and could not help but giggle a little. "Do not fret Luna, I am not here to keep you from your rest."

"Mm.. Good.." Luna yawned again and rubbed her eyes. "Then what is it thou require?"

"I simply wanted to ask if you wanted to join me for lunch later today?" Celestia asked, but Luna simply raised an eyebrow, encouraging her to go on as there was clearly more to this than a simple lunch. "You see, Noble Blade's son has returned to Equestria after seven years abroad, so I wanted to welcome him back home."

Luna searched her memory for a bit, she had met Noble Blade and she knew the name well. The Blades had after all served their family since the unification. "Seven years? Then that explains why I have not yet had the pleasure.." She replied, still sounding tired, but she did not seem uninterested. "Well he must have some interesting stories, I will be glad to join you... After my rest though.."

Celestia smiled and nodded slowly. "Of course, sleep well Lulu."

"Thank you Celly.." She yawned one last time and turned to walk to her chambers. "Try not to let Blueblood bore you to death.."

Celestia giggled lightly before the two sisters departed, however she soon noticed a pony standing not far from her, waiting. It was a male, a red unicorn with a black mane and three spears crossing each other as a cutie mark. He had a uniform coat on, not plain light blue as his soldier's uniforms, this one was more stylish, a shade of red and blue. Celestia let out a tiny sigh, over the years she had perfected the art of being annoyed without showing it, instead she put on a small smile. "Commander Steel Strike, how are you this morning?" She asked pleasantly, but kept walking.

Steel Strike smiled a little, but to her it looked forced. "I am fine your majesty, thank you." He answered and followed her down the hall of the palace.

"So, I imagine there is a reason you sought me out, isn't there commander?" Celestia asked not bothering with the usual dance of pleasantries. To be perfectly honest, Steel Strike had not really been her choice for commander, but many of her ministers insisted. Of course she could have overruled them, overruled them all, but even several officers had recommended him and it would be in bad taste to ignore them all, it would show a lack of trust in her staff.

"Well your majesty, I've come to ask about the issue with our budget. Have you by any chance looked over my proposals?"

Celestia sighed in her head, she had suspected he had come for that again, asking for more funds, permissions to expand his forces. "I'm afraid I have not had the chance to look it over yet, however.. As i recall you have plenty of funding, I do not see why you should be given more."

"Your majesty, I-." He tried to explain, but he was cut short.

"I won't be having this discussion now commander, I suggest you return to your duties and I shall return to mine. We shall speak later." And with that, she left him.

Steel Strike watched as the princess went into another room, when she was gone he almost spat at the floor. The only reason he didn't was because the royal guard, if they saw him do it then surely they would report to the princess. Instead he let out a grunt and returned to his own office.

The walk was not that long, but it did leave enough distance from him and the more private parts of the palace. Here he shared an entire wing with other ministers and officials, here they could go into their individual offices and work in between meetings. Steel Strike office was by no means small, but it was not what one would call charming or luxurious, in fact he was certain princess Luna had made sure he got the one with the draft.

Grunting annoyed he opened the door and made his way inside. "Sir." Inside was a metal grey Pegasus with a silver mane, which was funny enough also his name, and an arrow on fire as his cutie mark. He wore a blue officer's uniform which suited his strong figure well.

"Captain." Steel Strike said in greeting as he went behind his large wooden desk.

The young captain waited for his commander to sit down, it would be undisciplined to sit down before him, and if there was anything Silver Mane was, then it was disciplined. When he had sat down and gave him a nod he did so as well, still however he tried to look as stiff and formal as possible.

"Sir, if I may ask. What did the princess say about the proposals?" He asked bluntly.

Steel took a few moments to look over some of his papers, moving some around with his hooves. Finally however he did look up with an annoyed expression. "She told me she has not looked them over yet, frankly I think she will reject them no matter what.."

The captain sighed. "With respect sir, we need those bits, if we are going to get more ponies, we need the funding and even.."

"I know.." Steel responded. "Though, maybe we just need to remind her why she needs us.." He mumbled, but then waved a hoof. "We can't push it, just make sure the supplies arrive on time and the project is on schedule." He then waved him off and looked down at the reports on his desk. "Dismissed.."

"Yes sir." Silver Mane responded and stood up and gave a salute. He turned to leave, but just as he was about to take a step the commander asked.

"Tornado Blade has returned?" It was still a mumble, but clear enough so the captain knew the question was directed at him.

"Yes sir." Silver replied and turned to him. "My sergeant told me he arrived yesterday late afternoon by train."

"Did he know why he has returned?"

"No sir, but we did not find anything of worth or worry in his luggage."

"Hm.." Steel Strike thought for a moment. "I wonder.."

"Sir?"

"Tell me captain, what do you know about the young stallion?" The commander asked and looked up at him.

"Not much of anything sir, the name does sound.." He thought for a moment. "Blade.. Is he the son of count Noble Blade?"

"Indeed.." Steel Strike replied. "I was led to understand his son was abroad.. The old fool must have summoned him home, after seven years away surely he has some plans.."

Captain Silver shrugged. "With respect sir, it can just be a coincidence, the count is old, weak even. Maybe he has summoned him home to make sure his only heir is close by." The commander did not seem convinced, so Silver Mane made sure to add. "If he is up to something, I'll find out, and I'll deal with him."

Fixer made his way through the manor, even though it had been seven years, he still knew the house as if he had never left. The manor was built several centuries ago, it of course had changed styles a few times, but the base design of the house was still the same. It was built about the same time as Canterlot was founded, princess Celestia had granted this land to the Blade family as thanks for their loyal service to the crown.

It was hard not to miss all the family history as he went up the big stone stairs. All the paintings depicting Tornado's ancestors, famous battles or moments in history, all with a Blade not far from the royal family.

He made his way down the halls, following the dark red wooden floors until he reached the door that led into Tornado's room. He knocked a little melody and soon enough he could hear Tornado answer. "Enter."

Tornado's room was quite big, a big soft bed at the end of it, a desk, a massive bookshelf and a small balcony with a view of the city and palace. At the other end was a fireplace, like the rest of the bright room it was quite large, but was carved beautifully. The marble fireplace was a treasure and had certainly been expensive in it's time and even more valuable now.

Fixer entered, and Tornado turned to face him with a smile. "Good to see you Fixer, did you have a nice night with your family?" With no voice Fixer replied the only way he could, with a nod. "Smashing, well, father is taking me to the palace for lunch. It was a good learning opportunity, but I wanted to show you something before I went."

Tornado waved him closer as he trotted over to the beautiful marble fireplace. "You remember as a colt I loved to explore the house?" Fixer nodded. "Well, I discovered a few secrets here and there, so I decided to make it my mission to find out every secret the house was hiding." He moved a hoof up to one of the carved symbols and pushed it down.

A heavy sound of old gears turning could be heard on the other side of the wall, the marble frame starting to slide here and there. Suddenly, the fireplace turned inwards into the wall itself, revealing a secret entrance. Fixer took a step back, impressed as the fireplace became a door, revealing the secret hallway that laid behind. Tornado could not help but enjoy Fixer's shocked expression. "I looked the same way, now come along, take that lantern with you."

Fixer noticed the lantern on the desk. He lit it with his magic, then snatched it up and made it flow in front of the two of them, lighting the way. Tornado led the way with Fixer following close behind him, as soon as they were both through the fireplace closed once again, hiding away any signs it had ever been opened in the first place.

As soon as they entered Fixer noticed the wooden stairs leading directly down. "My great grandfather built this path, it leads into a secret chamber beneath the manor itself." Soon enough the house walls and stairs vanished and was replaced with carved rock, it was clear Tornado's ancestors had carved this tunnel directly into the mountain.

After they had descended about 20 meters under the manor's foundation, the tunnel widened and soon became a massive cave. Fixer's face once again showed awe as he took in the cave. It was big and wide, with a few other tunnels vanishing into the mountain itself. They were standing on a platform carved into the cave itself, it led to a wooden floor, a sort of pier raised above the water that filled the cave floor. On this pier was what looked like a large area, a round platform that was about 50 meters in diameters. Next to it was another pier, connected to the arena with a small bridge, over there were some tables and chairs and even a few old weapons.

Old lanterns hung on the cave walls, waiting to be lit once again. The cave itself hid sound quite well, but sound coming into the cave made small echoes, they could even hear the echoes of the waterfalls outside the cave entrance. "My ancestors built this place in case the city was under attack. A sort of safe room if you will. In time my family simply forgot about it." Tornado walked down and along the wide pier. "That tunnel over there." He pointed with a hoof to one of the larger tunnels. "It leads out to the waterfall, from there you can get in and out. It is well hidden and the waterfall masks it well, so we do not need to worry about anyone finding this place."

They moved across the small bridge and over to the area with the tables, chairs, weapons and even doors built into the cave walls. "There is even a bedroom, an old armory, and a wine cellar." He smirked as they made their way over to one of the tables. There, placed on it was the outfit of Night Wonder. There was a black cape, mask, a hat, the belt and of course his black whip and a rapier.

Fixer smirked and nodded to him as he understood it all now. This was where Tornado had lived in the two weeks he had been here as Night Wonder. Tornado smiled at his understanding. "It's becoming clearer, yes? This shall be our hideout, the lair of Night Wonder." Fixer nodded a bit, looking at the old cave, already thinking about some ideas for plans to improve this space. Then he snapped out of it, pulling a small pocket watch out of his white shirt.

"Is it time?" Tornado asked and let out a sigh. "I better find something to wear, I will see you this afternoon!" And with that, Tornado ran off upstairs to get ready for lunch at the palace.

It was not everyday you got to have lunch with the royal sisters, Tornado knew this all too well and his father had no trouble reminding him during the drive to the palace. Tornado would much rather have flown, he loved flying, feeling the wind rush through his feathered wings. His father was however not as strong as he used to be, he was old and had some old injuries that made it hard for him to fly, hence the carriage.

As the carriage moved through the streets of Canterlot, Tornado found himself lost in thought. He had not seen the princess for seven years, Tornado wondered if she could remember him much? Sure he saw her from time to time, but his father spent more time with her than he ever did. He felt worried that she might see through his acting, then again their interaction had been very limited, so hopefully he would be able to pull it off. As for princess Luna, he had never met her, he was not even in the kingdom when she appeared as Nightmare Moon. Tornado had no real idea of what she was like, he would just have to wait and see for himself.

"You look thoughtful my son." Noble said from the seat across from his son.

Tornado looked over at his father, sitting there in a fine dark yellow jacket, looking dignified and yet humble at the same time. "It's nothing father, I was simply wondering about princess Luna. I have never had the privilege to meet her before."

Noble nodded with a small understanding smile. "Well, like her sister she has a royal presence about her. She's kind, playful and again, just like princess Celestia, she is a bit mischievous."

That was something he didn't expect to hear, Tornado raised an eyebrow at this, but then again he had been away for a long time. He might not recall what he thought and his contact was limited, at any rate, this lunch was gonna be most informative.

The earth ponies pulled the carriage into the courtyard in front of the palace, the guards let them pass with no trouble. As the two stallions got out, Tornado was struck with awe as he marveled at Canterlot palace. Even in the courtyard one was taken aback by the beauty and splendor of it all. The large white towers, almost shining in the sunlight, the fountain, the green of the garden, it was all so beautiful.

Noble smirked as he walked past his son and towards the doors to the palace. "Breathtaking, isn't it?"

Tornado smiled and nodded. "That it is, that it is.."

They took a moment to marvel at the palace before they moved up the stone steps towards the entrance. The guards stood at attention for Tornado's father, it was a sign of great respect to their family and to Noble Blade. Tornado's great great grandmother helped found the Royal Guard, of course it would have been founded regardless, but she helped to lay the foundation of what they were today. Noble Blade had also been Captain of the guard before gladly leaving the post to Shining Armor, so many of the guards were quite familiar with him.

With the two of them inside Tornado felt his anticipation rising, even though he was not one for fancy titles and all the noble snobbery, he still considered it an honor to be here. They traversed the palace halls, enjoying the tranquility the palace offered.

"Tornado Blade?" A very fine voice said with an even heavier Canterlot accent.

Tornado and his father stopped to see who had called his name. "Blueblood?" Tornado saw a white stallion with a long neatly brushed mane, two stars as a cutie mark and an overall smug attitude. The one and only Prince Blueblood, though his name was Prince it was certainly not his title, stood there with a surprised look on his face.

"I had not heard you were back?

Tornado's father sighed. "I'll be going ahead, don't be late." Noble left the two stallions and went towards the throne room.

"I arrived yesterday afternoon by train." Tornado replied, mentally sighing as he did not want to be alone with this hyper snob. Then again, it might be a good way to see how a coward and pony without a spine would act, pick up a few pointers.

"Well, a lot of things have changed since you were gone. I myself have gotten a position as my aunt's diplomat." He said like Tornado was going to worship the very ground he stepped on.

"Well, congratulations Duke Blueblood." Tornado replied with a friendly tone. "I'll sleep better knowing our diplomatic relations are safely in your hooves."

Blueblood raised an eyebrow. "You seem different, last time I saw you, you were racing through the streets with some of the chaps from the academy?"

Tornado nodded and let out a long sigh. "Yes, I'm afraid I owe you an apology." This made Blueblood's eyes widen a little in surprise. "During my travels, I realized how unlike a proper gentlecolt I was acting. Going to Prance really opened my eyes.." Blueblood was surprised, but he did not scoff at him. He knew full well he would not be a true gentlecolt if he could not accept this olive branch Tornado held out to him.

Though Blueblood had been in the game long enough to know, everypony in the royal arena played the game. The game of how high you could get, favors, gossip, something for something, power and money. It was a game that was as old as the monarchy, a game Celestia had mastered centuries ago, unlike her sister Luna.

He took a critical look over Tornado, hoping to spot any potential flaw in his act, something that might point him to his true intentions. However, the more he looked, the more he became convinced. The way he stood did carry nobility, his smile calm and polite, his eyes filled with nothing other than friendliness.

Finally, after the mental check over Blueblood sighed and gave Tornado the same polite smile. "No need to apologize, it's all in the past."

"It is very kind of you, I thank you." Tornado did not need Blueblood to trust him, he simply wanted to make him believe he was now harmless. "Now, you must excuse me, I have an audience with the royal sisters."

"Ah yes, lunch. I'm sorry to say I won't be joining you, enjoy your lunch count Blade." Blueblood bowed his head slightly in farewells. "Good day to you."

Tornado returned the gesture. "And to you."

Luna was not usually up and about this time of day, her nightly schedule meant it was limited how much energy she had during the day. Even so, meeting this returning son of count Noble Blade intrigued her a little. Ponies came to Canterlot every day, so it was somewhat special her sister would arrange a whole lunch just to bit him welcome back.

She had known the Blade family for a very long time, loyal, Tornado and kind, if this Tornado Blade was anything like his father then he was certainly an impressive young stallion. Luna had met Noble Blade several times since her return, she found him to be a very charming and intelligent older gentlecolt. Noble Blade had also accepted her very quickly, she had asked him about it at the time, seeing some ponies still had a few reservations about her for a little while. He had simply smiled and said; 'The Blades serve her majesties, our family will now and always be your friends, and friends forgive.' It was incredibly kind of him, and Luna instantly took a liking to the stallion.

Now however, she was trotting down the massive hallways of the palace to take part in this lunch her sister had been so kind to arrange, and, she had to admit, she was a little excited to see this stallion, maybe he would be a younger version of his father? The walk was not unbearable far from her private chambers, and it gave her some time to fully wake from her slumber. She was mostly alone, the only other ponies was the occasional maid or one of the sentries standing guard.

Turning the corner, she trotted over to a door leading into the throne room from the side, letting her enter and get to her throne with ease and grace. The guard standing by the door gave her a salute, and with that she went through. There was no small crowd of nobles or petitioners, no, instead her older sister stood at the foot of her throne pleasantly chatting with Noble Blade.

When they heard the door close they both turned to face her. "Ah, dear sister. I trust you had a pleasant rest?" Celestia smiled kindly.

Luna returned the smile as she joined them. "I did." Noble Blade bowed, but Luna simply waved her hoof. "There's no need for that dear friend, please rise."

"Thank you, princess." Noble replied as he stood up fully again. "And thank you for taking the time, I did not expect you to clear your lunch schedule for us."

"Well, this is an important day for you Noble Blade." Celestia replied. "Your son has returned, and my sister has not yet had the pleasure. Though, speaking of which, where is he?"

Before Noble could answer, the doors went up. They all looked to the doors, and just as they were apart enough a dark grey Pegasus walked in. He only took a few steps before he bowed down to the royal sisters. "Your majesties." Noble said and turned his attention back at them. "Please let me introduce my son, Tornado Blade."

The sisters both took a moment to inspect the stallion, he was quite tall, well built, black mane and tail, a little ruffled, but not untidy. Finally Celestia smiled. "Please rise my little pony, and welcome back to Equestria."

Tornado did as he was told, standing back to his full height. "Thank you princess, it's an honor to be here." He began to trot up to them, but he started to slow down as his dark blue eyes met princess Luna's. It was like the moment slowed down, like every second became a full minute. He had met Celestia before, but her sister, Luna, she was something else. Her dark blue fur that spoke of mystery and was as calm as the night sky, her flowing mane and tale that seemed to host small stars that glinted at the world. Her body was elegant, made to sore in the heavens as she watched over the dreams of everypony under her care. Her eyes, they were probably what captivated him the most. They were light blue, but in a more subtle tone, like the color of her fur, they spoke of mystery, mischief, kindness and intelligence. This was a beautiful alicorn.

Time started to move fast again and he soon found himself standing beside his father, facing the sisters. It was here that he noticed he was almost at eye level with Luna, of course she was taller, not as tall as Celestia. After feeling he may have been silent for too long he bowed his head a little. "And it is an honor to meet the princess and artist of the night."

Luna smiled. "It is nice to meet you as well." She then tilted her head slightly, giving a small impish grin. "Artist of the night? I like that, but I'm sure i can claim no such title. The night sky is as it has always been."

Tornado shook his head. "With respect to Princess Luna, I think you can claim such a title. All though i was not here for your return, i noticed the effects before i ever heard the news."

This made her raise an eyebrow. "Oh?"

"Indeed." Tornado confirmed before continuing. "I noticed how the stars began to shine more, how the stars had seemed to have gained a new passion for the art that they were a part of. Beside the added stars, the moon also seemed to become more delicate, traveling above us with a sense of calm, and a gentle loving glow that was not there before. Princess, I tell you, you are the artist of the night."

Luna was not sure how to answer, but she felt her cheeks burn slightly. As for Tornado he too simply did not know how to continue, he was not even sure how he got started in the first place. The moment carried on like this for what seemed like a minute, then, without taking her eyes from him, she replied with a gentle voice. "Thank you.."

Another moment of silence filled the conversation in the group, but this time it was Celestia that took the lead. "Your words are kind and speak true.. My sister always had a way with the night that I never had." She said calmly and with a smile, happy to see her sister receiving, and enjoying such a heartfelt compliment. "But we should not linger, I'm sure you're both hungry, so come now, let us eat."

Celestia led them to a modest dining room with a beautiful view over the city. The chef served their food and it was pleasant enough, dandy sandwiches, some more hot meals like soup or grilled potatoes with onions. Celestia sat at the end of the table, her sister on her right side, Tornado's father on her left and beside him was Tornado himself.

The conversation was pleasant, nothing to major, some more pleasantries, nothing really important. Then, after Celestia had taken a sip of her tea she looked to Tornado and said. "So Tornado, tell us about your travels. Your father says it was rare you got to write."

Tornado nodded. "Indeed it was, well.. I first traveled around inside the borders of the kingdom, Manehattan, Las Pegasus, Appleloosa and so on. From there I went to Prance and then Saddle Arabia."

He had indeed visited all of these places, but he left a lot out. During his travels he learned a lot, how to fight, how to sneak around, how to read lips, pick locks, how to lie, steal, and of course how to fence. He met a lot of friends, friends that showed him skills he had never thought he would ever use, but now here he was, lying, to princess Celestia no less.

"You must have seen a lot." Luna said, breaking his train of thought.

"I have, though I found the art, the history and the culture the most fascinating, even the poetry." Tornado replied, which was not a complete lie, but it was a lie nonetheless. As his friend and master thief had said, 'Lies begin in truths.'

Luna liked art, music, culture, heck, she would like to visit the post office just to see the fine and well oiled process behind it all if she could. That was not to say she didn't like more wild stuff like her sister, she however found it in other activities, dancing for example. So hearing Tornado talk about poetry and culture made her smile slightly. It was nice to see they had common interest, maybe they could bond over them a little, a new friend never hurt.

"But enough about me, my travels are hardly as interesting as what has happened here while I was away. I must say it feels like I missed a lot." Tornado continued.

"Ah yes, with the elements of harmony things have certainly changed. With the chaos of villains, some ponies feel like they have a chance of making it as bandits, gangs.." Celestia sighed. "It had made us make some... Changes.." It took no great intelligence to figure out Celestia was not happy about these changes.

"Ah.." Tornado noted. "You mean like creating checkpoints? Building a whole new guard force?"

Celestia nodded. "With the increase in crime I was forced to create new regiments of peace keeping soldiers." Tornado noticed his father itching to say something, but he knew this was not the time, nor would it change a thing.

"And the worms are using the cover of MY night to carry out their misdeeds." Luna said that in a low growl. She was not happy with her night turning into something they feared. It was like long ago, before she turned into a Nightmare Moon..

"That’s horrible!" Tornado exclaimed. "I had no idea it had gotten so bad.."

"Not even a week ago one pony was even kidnapped by a gang, in this very city no less." Luna said, her tone sad, like she could hardly believe such a thing would happen in this city. Then suddenly she smiled slightly. "Fortunately she is safe now, somepony apparently somehow managed to take the gang out and release her."

"Somepony? You mean you don't know who?"

"No." Celestia sighed. "We had heard rumors of some vigilante who has been running around, taking the law into his own hooves. He’s calling himself Night Wonder, but it’s clearly not his real name."

"At least someone managed to capture them. At least someone did something.." Celestia's younger sister said, her voice on the border of being bitter.

If Celestia noticed it, she didn't show it. "As much as I'm happy that Lucy Light was saved, that somepony saved her from that horrible fate they had in mind for her, I'm afraid what this vigilante will come to inspire."

"Hope?" Luna suggested. This time Celestia seemed to react, she turned her head and raised an eyebrow. "Hope that not all ponies will stand by and watch injustice, hope that somepony will do what we cannot.. Something we're failing at.."

Tornado had the feeling the two of them had this discussion before, and hadn't necessarily agreed on. "Luna that is not the point, how long until a pony like that goes too far?" Celestia frowned, but then sighed. "Enough of this subject.. We can hope he stops, in the weeks this went on it was mostly petty crimes, I hope this Night Wonder will stop and consider himself lucky he was not killed.."

It was clear Luna wanted to say more on this subject, and Tornado was pretty sure his father wanted to add a thing or two to this conversation. However, they both decided to let the subject go for now. Instead the younger sister stood up and bowed her head a little. "If you will please excuse me, I'm not feeling well.." Before going she looked at Tornado. "It was very nice to meet you Tornado, I hope we will meet again.." She then looked at his father. "Count Blade.." And with a small nod, she turned and without another word she left.

When the door was closed behind her Celestia sighed. "I am sorry about this.. With the nights turning into something ponies fear to go out in, my sister feels, frustrated would be the best way to put it."

Noble shook his head. "We understand, no need to apologize." Tornado nodded in agreement, but he could not get the conversation out of his head. The debate her and Luna had was something Tornado had with himself quite a few times by now. He however had to believe he could do something good, maybe even make ponies feel safe during the night yet again.

Only time would tell..

The lunch ended shortly after that, and Tornado could not help but wonder if princess Luna knew of all the problems his father had noticed. Maybe she had an idea, but he did not think she was fully aware of the situation, then again, neither was he, but he was gonna find out.

Tornado returned to his room, thinking he might get a little workout done before figuring out his next step. When he entered however, Fixer was already waiting for him. He seemed a little dirty, his mane a fur a little ruffled, and he looked like he had been sweating. "Fixer? What have you been doing?" Tornado asked with a small grin.

Fixer simply grinned back and held up a hoof, then he winked and pointed towards the fireplace. It was not hard to guess he had been working down in the cave, but Tornado had not expected him to work so fast and hard. "Okay, okay, let's see what you have been up to while I've been gone."

The two of them went through the secret door and down to the cave itself, though Tornado could not imagine what sort of work he had been doing to make himself look so dirty. When they finally reached the cave he got his answer. "Wow, Fixer I..." Tornado got his answer.

Firstly, all the lanterns around the cave had been lit, shedding it's light everywhere, revealing how big the cave truly was. Then the arena had been outfitted with some training dummies, though they didn't look like much, he knew Fixer well enough to know they were more than what they appeared.

Then over at the pier with the many platforms, the old weapons were gone and even some tables. In their place was what looked like a small workshop, a grindstone, some tools on one table and some materials on the other. At the third pier was a ponyquin, standing there with the Night Wonder outfit on, beside it was a table with some of the equipment, like the sword, belt, and whip.

Tornado stood for a few moments to take it all in, even though he had only been gone for a few hours, Fixer had already done a lot of work, once again he was impressed with his friend's tenacity. "I don't know what to say, Fixer. This is incredible.."

Fixer smiled, but then winked at him, waving his hoof as a signal to follow him. The two of them walked over to the small workshop, on it were a few tools as noted before, but there was something that looked like small knives and even one of his belts. Fixer pointed him to the belt and Tornado noted small pockets lined across it, his horn glowed and the belt was held up to show it off. Then a tiny tool belt with pins and a little multi tool came out of one of the pockets.

"For locks?"

Fixer nodded at the question and then put the tools back in with his magic. He then proceeded to put the belt down again and then nodded towards some drawings on the other table. Tornado looked with great interest and saw some designs he had worked on. "You've been working on some designs for my cape?" he asked and noted the drawing. Fixer nodded eagerly. "What about the knives?"

That made Fixer's smile drop a little, he made a small show of pretending to throw them and Tornado instantly understood. They were meant for throwing, but Tornado could see they were not yet done, Fixer gave him an apologetic look, but Tornado simply waved his hoof. "It's okay Fixer, you have already done more than I would have thought in such a short time. Don't worry." Fixer sent him a smile in gratitude and then pointed towards the arena with a smirk.

"Oh? You think you have created a challenge for me? Alright, can't wait to see what you have done with this." The two stallions grinned as Tornado got his rapier and went into the arena to face whatever Fixer had prepared.

By the time they reentered the manor above the cave, Tornado let out a small laugh. The dummies were by themselves quite simple, not even done, but Fixer had used his magic to make them move and fight. The limbs of them could move just like anypony and it made for some great fun as Tornado had to fight them.

When they got up to his room Tornado sat down by the window and let out a small chuckle. "You know, it is cheating.. You can't just revive a fallen dummy after he is defeated.." Fixer simply rolled his eyes and made a face at him. "Yeah yeah, don't get cocky." Tornado laughed and then saw movement outside. "Hm?" He noticed a young earth pony, a mare, run across the courtyard towards the front door. "Hey, I think that's Rosy Days, she looks scared." They both walked out and towards the stairs.

They barely got to it when they heard Rosy knocking frantically at the door. Caramel Dream was the one to open the door. "Oh please, I need to speak with Count Noble Blade.." The rosy pink earth pony begged. Before Caramel could answer the mare saw the older stallion walk in from the study. Before he had a chance to ask what was going on, the mare ran to him. "Oh, I beg you, please help us." She said almost crying as she placed her hooves on Noble's shoulders. "They took my brother, they will kill him if you do nothing!"

Noble was calm and gentle in his reply. "Now, now, calm down, Rosy." Caramel had closed the door and walked over with some water for her. "Please drink this and tell me everything."

Rosy Days got off Noble and drank a big gulp from the glass with water. "It's the Blue Guard, my lord, the sergeant came with soldiers, he said the captain had ordered him to arrest my brother because he had stolen tax money. He had no time to defend himself, they knocked him out and took him away. They will kill my brother, Count Blade!" Rosy felt her tears run down her cheeks, terrified her gentle brother would get killed by either the soldiers or in prison.

Noble however remained calm. "No one is getting killed, Rosy, at least not without an investigation."

"But my brother is innocent.." Rosy replied.

"Then he will quickly be cleared of suspicion. You won't have to worry. I will visit commander Steel Strike and sort all this out."

Rosy nodded a little, seeming to relax a bit more. "A thousand thanks, my lord, a thousand thanks.." And with that she left them.

Noble sighed a little. "Caramel, prepare my coach."

Tornado frowned as he walked down. "Father, let me take care of this." He said as Caramel went to fetch the drivers.

"No my son, I know the commander." He looked over at Tornado and gave him a reassuring smile. "Don't be afraid my son, nothing will happen to me. Steel Strike may sometimes be an animal, but he isn't crazy." With that, Noble turned and went out the door.

"Horseapples.." Tornado mumbled under his breath. He knew Rosy Days and Bright Days from school, though not rich or from the nobility, they were always friendly and kind to all ponies. Tornado had a hard time imagining Bright Days had suddenly turned to crime. It was not hard to figure out what had to be done, and judging by Fixer's look they both had the same idea. It was time for Night Wonder to fly!

Soon enough the two of them walked down into the lair, Tornado determined to find out what had happened. Walking over to the ponyquin he started to get dressed, Fixer's magic helped get it done faster. "I don't buy that story with the stolen tax money, do you?"

Fixer shook his head as he levitated the cape to Tornado and tied it for him while Tornado put on the enchanted mask that hid his cutie mark, and changed his eye color from blue to red. "Something is going on, we have to find out what." He put the belt, the scabbard with the rapier and the whip on before he looked at the hat. "I don't like my father going alone, but I trust him that nothing will happen." He put the hat on and turned to Fixer. "Still, I think it is best if I go and look over the barracks.."

Fixer smirked and hurried over to a desk and pulled out something large, it looked like a massive scroll. Though when he unfolded it, Tornado saw it as a fine detailed map of the city. "Wow, did your father make this?" Fixer nodded and studied the map for a bit before finally pointing a hoof to where the barracks would be located. Tornado studied the map for a bit. "Hmm, if I fly along the river I should get there unseen, as long as I fly low of course.." He made some mental notes of the potential routes of getting there and some for escaping, better to plan ahead.

Tornado noted the worried expression Fixer tried so badly to hide, but Tornado simply smiled. "Easy there, I know, I'll be careful.. I know fighting against trained soldiers won't be the same as fighting against common criminals, but we must get to the bottom of this." They both gave a determined nod and Tornado walked to the edge of the pier, looking at the tunnel that would lead him to the secret entrance behind the waterfall.

"Wish me luck.." And with a sudden leap into the air, Night Wonder spread his wings and gave them a powerful flap, moving him towards the tricky tunnel with great speed. The tunnel was twisting and turning, lots of rocks in the way, and they were easy to crash into if you had never flown through it before.

Night Wonder could hear the sounds of the waterfall become stronger, and soon enough he could see the silver light of Luna's moon reflect through the waterfall itself, projecting beautiful shapes on the cave walls. When he saw the water falling at the entrance of the cave, he folded his wings to the side and let gravity and his speed move him down to the edge of the cave entrance.

As soon as his hooves touched the stone, he made a quick jump forward and did a single flip in the air before he dove down towards the lake below. He allowed gravity to carry him, letting the waterfall mask his descent from the cave. He closed his eyes, enjoying the thrill of the free falling, the sound of the powerful rush of water that fell along with him. Then suddenly he opened his eyes, letting his mind become sharp as he knew just when to unfold his wings.

Like a well practiced habit he spread his wings wide, but not to slow himself down, instead he let his wings cut through the air until he was ready to change direction. He noticed one of the rocks, reaching out from the cliff and cut into the water fall, creating a small split in the water, just big enough for him to fly through. Holding his breath, he adjusted his wings, ready to make the exit. He turned just a little, avoiding the rock pointing out, then immediately shifted back and let his wings turn up just enough to let him lift and fly through the small split.

He let the momentum of the fall carry him forward, but before he lost speed he flapped his wings to keep it going. He looked down to see he was only a single meter above the water of the river, his figure reflecting against the calm and clear water like a mirror.

Night Wonder took a moment to look at himself, not to gloat or because he wanted to admire his dashing looks. For a moment it was like his eyes turned from red to blue, but he knew it was in his mind. To himself he knew he was saying goodbye to his old life, his old self. He needed to lie, to hide and live in the shadows. No, the mask of Night Wonder was not his true mask, his true mask would be that of Tornado Blade, that would be the mask hiding his true self, the pony he had now become.... Night Wonder....

The barracks of the Blue Guard within Canterlot was not in the main part of the city, instead it was located outside the Starlight district, closer to the front gate, but still close enough to get to the palace fast. Night Wonder had flown low, avoiding the lights of the gaslights illuminating the peaceful streets.

If he was being honest with himself, as he moved through the shadows of the roof tops on the building next to the barracks, he felt nervous. It was something he was feeling when he saved Lucy Light from her kidnappers, knowing a real life was on the line, this was no different. Night Wonder had been trained to use the fear to keep him alert, but not paranoid, it was something that served him well doing that break in back in Prance.

Night Wonder looked over the barracks from his hiding spot beneath the shadow the small clock tower cast. The barracks were pretty simple, a large rectangular area separated from the city with big white walls, some soldiers patrolling up on the battlements. Two more soldiers stood guard in front of the gate and the rest of them, or at least those not on duty, were probably sleeping in the big building inside the walls.

Even though he could not fully see from his position, he got the picture of the layout. The large parade grounds was the place for exercise, for drills and such. Then there were three other buildings, the main building that was facing the gate, then a slightly smaller building on it's right and then what looked like an armory and jailhouse on the left.

The main building was probably for officers, and the smaller was probably where the soldiers ate and slept. If Bright Days were anywhere, it would be in the jailhouse, which meant he needed to find a way inside. Though even from this position, he had already spotted blind spots and gaps in the patrol patterns. The soldiers did not look alert like the royal guard, they looked bored, which meant it would be easier for him, but that was still kind of disappointing.

He was about to climb higher, but he froze at the sound of a carriage approaching. He stood still, for a moment thinking it might be his father, but instead he saw it was a commander, Steel Strike in all likelihood. The soldiers greeted him with a stiff salute, standing a bit more at attention as he passed through the gates.

Night Wonder figured if he was here, then him and his father had already talked. If he came here, then it either meant he was here to investigate the matter, or maybe making sure certain loose ends were tied. Narrowing his eyes, Night Wonder leaped into the night sky, letting the clothes he wore and his fur make him vanish into the shadows and the darkness the night provided.

Flying fast, yet smoothly and silent, he managed to land almost a meter behind one of the soldiers up on the wall. Before he had a chance to notice his presence however, Night Wonder leaped once again, but this time spreading his wings more to let him gently flow down into the shadows of the courtyard.

He knew it would be easier if he had simply flown to the main building, but he knew there was a chance somepony would spot the movement in the air, and so he decided to move on hoof. Just like he had practiced for hours on end, he moved with a mix of stealth and speed, stepping through each shadow the buildings were casting and made sure to always be alert for the soldiers. He could not risk going in after the commander, he did not know what kind of security would be in there, instead he simply moved to the side of the main building. Finding the fire escape which was thankfully unguarded. As much as he knew his wings were a nice tool, he rather wanted to hide them for as long as he could, it would help create confusion on his identity.

He quickly moved up the stairs, using his wings only to get his hooves to press lighter to the wood than what they already were. Once again with a mix of stealth and speed he reached the top, figuring the most important officers would be somewhere they could look down on ponies. When he did so he noticed a small ladder that led to the almost flat roof, figuring it was his best chance to find a good place to listen in, he moved up.

Thankfully, it did not take him long to figure out where to go. There was a small balcony overlooking the plaza, from there some glass doors led into the office of the captain. Thankfully the windows were open, so to listen in would not be a problem. He let himself drop slowly and gently onto the balcony, stepping to the side so not to stand right behind the glass doors and be exposed to them.

Soon enough the door opened and he could hear the voices of the two officers. Captain Silver Mane was the first to speak. "You wanted to speak with me, commander?"

Steel Strike moved behind the captain's desk and sat down like it was his own. "Count Noble Blade came to visit me earlier. He asked me to shed some light on the arrest of Bright Days." He had a small pause before speaking his name, like he had a hard time remembering it, like it was worth so little. "I could reassure him concerning our intentions, but I doubt it will definitely clear his suspicions."

"Knowing his son, it is hard for me to believe the Blades should be a threat." The captain replied. Night Wonder felt his heart stop, how did he know of him? One thing was he spoke his name, having heard of him returning even, but the way the captain spoke, had someone told Silver Mane about him in more detail?

The commander shook his head and tapped his hoof to the wooden desk. "Don't be fooled captain. Count Noble Blade is a respected gentlecolt who has the princesses favor." Night Wonder could hear how Steel Strike stood up and walked to the door to look into the dark night. He could practically hear his heavy breathing. "It is better to have an eye on him. Speaking of, what have you done with this Bright Days?"

"A group of my more trusted soldiers is taking him out of the city as we speak, they will execute him on the way to the prison.

"Good." The commander simply said. "Make sure to write a report that he fled, we will send some to look, but of course, we will never find him."

"And the deed to the farm?"

"With him having 'fled' he will lose all rights to the land. The deed will be confiscated and I'll make sure our friend will buy it. Everything has been taken care of."

With that their conversation ended, Night had heard enough anyway. As much as he wanted to teach those two a lesson and drag them to Celestia herself, he knew nothing he would do would clear Bright Days's name, at least not yet. For now he needed to find this transport before he was killed, with that in mind he vanished into the night.

Bright Days felt as low as he had ever felt, here he was, chained in some prison wagon, waiting to get to wherever they were taking him. Bright was not stupid, even though he was just a simple mushroom farmer, he knew his arrest was fishy. Though that was not the worst part of it, knowing someone had framed him hardly mattered, it was the fact he would not get to see his sister again.. That made a lump come to his throat, when he was in that cell back in the barracks, sergeant Berry Mark had asked if he wanted to write a letter to her. At the time he had hoped all of this was just one big misunderstanding, but he figured it might be a good idea, just in case. Unfortunately the four earth ponies who were now escorting him had grabbed him before he could give the sergeant the letter, now it was in his pocket of his jacket, she was probably never going to get it now..

Suddenly he felt the wagon stop, though he could not see where they had gone. He moved to one of the barred glass less windows and looked out. They seemed to be out in nowhere, on one of the lesser used trails down the mountain. He saw the four earth pony soldiers move.

"What the heck?" The two ponies dragging the wagon had come to a stop, and then the two last ones had come up to see why they had stopped. Now that they had reached the front it was not hard to see, somepony dressed in black stood a few meters ahead, glaring at them.

"Who's the freak? A bandit?" One of the soldiers scoffed and by instinct grabbed the rapier in his belt, drawing it out with his hoof. "Identify yourself pony!" He yelled and started to walk towards him on his three free legs.

"I know what you are here to do!" Night Wonder replied. His voice was stern and held an edge to it, like if he was giving them a final warning. "Just turn around and leave the wagon here." He was not naive enough to think that would work, but let it never be said he never gave them the option.

The four soldiers let out a loud laugh. "Who do you think we are?! Come on, before you get hurt, piss off!" The one with the sword drawn laughed and moved closer.

Night Wonder narrowed his eyes. "I warned you.." He mumbled under his breath, not minding this fight as he could use it to let off some steam. He reached under his cape with his hoof and then drew out his own blade. This made the laughter stop, but not their amusement.

"Oho?" They had an evil grin on their faces as they seemed just as eager to let off some steam as him. The one who had drawn his blade first moved closer and smirked. "Let's see what you got then!" He raised his blade and like an idiot he made a simple swing.

Night Wonder stood up on his hind legs and lifted his own sword, blocking his strike. This took the soldier by surprise, but his bravado did not falter, well not until a swift kick to the face knocked him out. Now the rest was no longer laughing, they all looked shocked for a moment and then all charged him.

Shockingly their bandit seemed to run towards them instead, they were hardly prepared for this and lifted their blades in order to get him to stop. Using their surprise against them, Night Wonder simply waved his blade at theirs, forcing them away from him before he ran past them.

He was not fleeing, but he needed to control the battle as they outnumbered him. Regaining themselves, the soldiers turned and followed Night Wonder towards the wagon. The fastest soldier was a little too eager and broke whatever formation they were supposed to do. He instead foolishly moved in for the kill right away.

The soldier moved onto his hind legs and made a few stabs and swings, but they were all blocked by Night Wonder. Their blades only clashed two to three times, before the poor soldier was pushed into the wagon as Night Wonder turned and blocked a sequence of quick attacks from the second and third.

Bright Day could only watch with amazement as this masked bandit toyed with these soldiers. His blade work was clearly superior to theirs, even with his untrained eye he could see it. The mysterious stranger seemed to use the momentum of every movement he made to his advantage, swinging his blade to block and parry whatever attack his opponents came up with. He seemed to use a mix of standing on his hind legs, then back down, then jumping and making small acrobatic movements here and there.

Soon enough, all three soldiers tired out and were disarmed. Night Wonder held the tip of his blade towards them, none of them foolish enough to make a move. "Now gentlecolts." Night Wonder said with an almost playful tone, like he had just been playing around with a few foals. "Please open the wagon." They hesitated at first, though Night Wonder simply raised his blade a little. "It's better to do what the pony with the sharp sword says." He said with a small grin and the soldiers quickly nodded and unlocked the barred door.

Bright Days hesitated a bit at first, but Night Wonder simply smiled. "Come on out here my friend, you're free." Bright Days did what he said and stepped out. He looked at the display before him, and it was hard to believe this was really happening. Night Wonder sent him a quick smile before returning his attention to the three soldiers. "Get in." He raised his blade. "Don't make me ask twice."

They bit back whatever protest they had and did as they were told. Bright Days quickly slamming and locking the door the second the last one had gone in. He turned to his rescuer with a big smile. "Thank you friend, I.. I don't know what would have happened to me if you hadn't shown up."

Night Wonder sighed. "I'm afraid I do." He placed the sword back in his scabbard and let his hoof rest on the ground with his three brothers once again. "I'm sorry to say they were never gonna give you a trial. I overheard the captain saying he was gonna have you executed.. Even if I have saved you, I will not be able to clear your name, and if you stay in the city they will surely kill you before you ever get to plead your case to the princesses.." Night Wonder removed Bright Days chains. "I'm afraid you have to flee for now, do not return before it is safe.."

"But I have a sister.. I can't just.." He hesitated.

Night Wonder shook his head. "You will bring her in danger if you stay.. Go south, someplace far away, maybe Appleloosa, they are always looking for work there.." He looked over at the last soldier who was coming around. "You will need something to wear at first."

Before the soldier could reach for his sword, he felt a hoof press down on his own. "We are gonna need that uniform, corporal." The soldier looked up at Night Wonder and then gulped.

About ten minutes later, Night wonder had finished tying the soldier to the wagon and turned to see Bright Days fully dressed in the uniform. Bright Days smiled a little. "How do I look?"

Night Wonder trotted over to him with a smirk. "Like a big bully of a soldier." They two laughed a bit and walked away from the trapped soldiers. "Now go, you'll only have a few hours before the sun comes up and somepony will find these ones."

"Wait." He pulled out the letter to his sister. "For my sister, her name is Rosy Days.. Please, I want her to know I'll be alright."

Night Wonder took the letter and nodded. "Of course, safe travels. Don't use your real name before you feel it's safe. Goodbye."

Bright Days nodded. "Thank you my friend, i will never forget you!" With that, Bright Days took off into the night, leaving Night Wonder to deal with the four captives. Smiling to himself he simply walked over, drawing his blade he carved a single letter into the door to the wagon, an N.

Back at the palace, commander Steel Strike walked the hallways. He was tired, and the hour was late, he simply needed to finish some paperwork and then he would be able to go home and sleep. Walking through the door to his office, he found it dark, which was strange. He could have sworn it was fully lit ten minutes ago. "Some clerk must have thought I had forgotten.." He mumbled and walked into the room. Closing the door behind him he moved over and turned on the lights, as soon as the lights came back however his body froze in place.

The light revealed a masked stallion, dressed in all black and with red eyes glaring at him. He was about to make use of his magic, but Night Wonder simply raised the rapier, letting him know using his magic would be a bad idea. Steel took a few deep breaths and then smiled with a sort of amused expression. Still, he did not dare to move. "So, you must be this Night Wonder I have been hearing about?"

Night Wonder gave a little bow with his head. but kept his eyes trained on him. "At your service, commander."

"And what..." He took a deep breath, trying to hold the eye contact, but kept glancing at the blade now and again. "Can I do for you? My understanding was you were on the side of justice?" He said almost mockingly.

Night Wonder did not let himself be baited, instead he nodded towards the arrest order on the desk. "You can tell me why you are so interested in Mr Bright Days' property. Must be something special about it, if you are willing to frame and murder him that is."

The commander raised an eyebrow, trying very hard not to show any signs. "You must be mistaken, we arrested him because he stole tax money."

"Really? A mushroom farmer on the side of the mountain suddenly decides to turn to crime, suddenly he and he alone managed to rob a tax collector under the crown's protection?" Night Wonder let the unlikely story hang in the air, making sure to mock it with every tone of voice he could. "I heard you and the good captain talk, commander. Why don't you tell me about your friend who wants to buy this land?"

This time he did not waste time pretending to not know. "I won't tell you anything." He hissed.

"Oh?" He raised the sword, but Steel didn't flinch.

"What are you gonna do? Kill me? Torture me? It is your word against mine, a commander of the Blue Guard. I don't think you will risk taking off that mask to go up against me, you put it on to protect yourself, and your family no doubt." He laughed a little. "No matter what you do, you have broken the law, no pony will trust a word you say."

Night Wonder moved the tip of the blade close to his throat, which quickly silenced him, but the commander held his defiant glare at him. "You're probably right, I can't prove a thing, I can't even prove Bright Days is innocent.." He smirked. "But I can be a pain in your flank and work to expose you, your captain, your corrupt army and everypony else who is compliant. I just wanted to let you know that no matter what you do, what you say, I will be out there watching, and I will unravel and expose everything you do. And if the day comes, which I suspect it will, then I will kill you." The two glared at each other for a bit before suddenly the lights turned off, leaving the commander in total darkness.

He blasted some magic at where he knew he had stood, but when he finally turned the lights back on, Night Wonder was gone! He saw the open window and growled, and wondering how Night Wonder had managed to get into the palace in the first place? How did he get past the royal guards?! Closing the window he knew he had to do something about this, but his face turned from anger into pure rage as he looked over at the door. Right in the center of the wooden door was carved a very large, N.

Night Wonder moved through the night with the same stealth and speed he had done all night. He only had one thing left to do for the night before returning home. Turning in the air, swiftly moving across the buildings, making sure to be careful no pony saw him. He stopped and landed in the street, right there in front of him was a nicely colored flower shop, the home of Rosy Days.

He smiled a little before reaching into one of the pockets of his belt, Night pulled out the letter Bright Days had given him and placed it in front of the door. He had added a small note to the letter, making sure to add what Bright Days couldn't. He knocked on the door a few times and as soon as he saw lights turn on, he vanished.

Dear Rosy,

I'm sorry about the arrest of your brother.

I can't tell you much, just know he's safe.

He will write to you soon i'm sure, probably-

under another name.

Your brother was falsely accused,

know that he is free and alive.

Your friend,

Night Wonder.
