After a giant monster attacks Equestria, it will take all of Equestria to stop it.
A spat of ship disappearances at sea near Equestria, causes the Princess to launch an investigation. What they find shocks everyone to their core as they discover a giant creature capable of godly destruction. In all of its history, Equestria has never faced a threat as this. Equestria will have to gather all of its might to stand a chance against the beast.
Arthurs Note: This story is loosly based on the 1954 Godzilla movie. Many events and the creature itself pretain to this movie. If the story does well, i will make sequels to it with the other monsters from the Monsterverse.
As the fishing ship named Blue Glory traversed the stormy, night sea in the southern part of the Celestial Sea, most of the ships crew are asleep while the captain, bridge crew and some processors are awake. The processors are hard at work filleting the fish and packing it in small packages. As the ship sails past an island a strange sound is heard.
"Captain. Did you hear that?" One of the bridge crew said.
"Yeah. Most likely the ship creaking. No need to worry about it." The captain said. As he said that the sound came again, louder this time. Suddenly the ship is rocked as if it just hit something. Ponies fall out of their bunks, ponies in the processing hull fall and their tools nearly hit them and on the bridge the captain and his crew nearly fall as they look out the bridge window a huge shadow raises up from the depths of the ocean. The captain and his crew watch in shock and horror. The lightning strikes the shadow revealing a huge creature but it remains unfazed from the lightning stike. The creature begins to rip the ship apart. In a desprete move the captain presses the emergency S.O.S. button and looks up just in time to see the creature smashes the ships windows out with its tail. The ship begins to sink and the creature disappears under the waves along with the ship.
The next morning, a crab boat approaches the wreak where the Blue Glory went under having picked up the S.O.S. beacon last night. As they approach the wreak they bare witness to last nights destruction. Planks of wood, limbs, cans of fish, and personal effects have floated to the surface. The ponies watch in horror as they pass all of the debris. Just as they reach the beacons last known location they hear a groaning sound.
"What the hay was that?" A pony said. Suddenly they hit a bump and the ship stops. The ponies begin to freak out as they believe to run aground but the sound of their hull cracking and a louder groan makes them stop and look around. Suddenly the ship is pulled under and a huge gyser of water splashes up.
Days later, a string of ship disappearances cause a panic across Equestria. No survivors are found. The ponies begin to wander what is going on and if its a new threat as it gets closer and closer to the west coast of Equestria. In Canterlot Castle, Princess Dawn is being flooded with worries and complaints from all over the west coast. In a way to ease tentions she dispatchs a small team of investigative reporters to the near by island of Joyful Song to get to the bottom of the disappearances. The island is near by where the disappearances have happened. The airship lands on the west sode of the island on a helipad and the first to step out is a male, orange Unicorn with a navy blue mane and a notepad and magnifying glass cutie mark. As he steps off he observes the residents of the island and walks over to the elderly chief.
"Greetings sir. My name is Superb Article. Im the lead of this investigation team. Please meet Jack Writer and Big Speaker. We have arrived because of all the ship disappearances. Do you know anything abput that?" Superb asks.
"ITS GODZILLA I TELL YOU!" The elderly pony yells as he gets up in Superbs face.
"Uhhhh...hee hee.......what?" Superb said nervously.
"ITS GODZILLA! THE GOD HAS COME! IT IS HERE TO WREAK HAVOC UPON US AS THE LEGENDS HAVE FORETOLD!" the elderly chief said.
"Uhhhhh.........." Superb looks around nervously.
"Thank you grandfather. But thats enough." The elderly pony is pulled away by a younger female earth pony. Some nurses come over and escourt the elderly chief away. The young mare looks at them and smiles.
"I am so so sorry for that. That was my grandfather, Song of Teachings . I am Chief Song of Hope. But please, just call me Summer Song. All my friends from the outside of the island does." She says. Smiling Superb walks over.
"I am Superb. Pleasure to meet you Ms. Song." Superb says and holds his hoof out. Summer shakes it with her hoof.
"Welcome to Joyful Song. I wish your visits were under better circumstances though." She steps aside and the crowd splits so they can pass. The reporters and Summer walk down the path with Summer and Superb walking side by side. "I know what it is that brought you here. The ships that are disappearing correct?"
"Thats right. For the past few days Equestria has lost contact with 15 vessels. Civilian and military alike. We have to get to the bottom of this. As a resident of these waters, do you have any clue as to what may cause them to sink?" Superb asked.
"Unfortunately, no. I do not. A few things that come to mind that would sink anything as big as a fishing boat are whirlpools, reefs, and storms. Anything bigger and it would have to be one hay of a typhoon, which we have not had yet this season. The only other option is the seaponies have rebelled against us but that would make no sense as we have maintained a good and successful relationship with them." Summer said.
"Hmmmm........may i ask what this Godzilla charater is? The one your grandfather got up in my face about." Superb asks. Summer giggles a bit and smiles.
"Godzilla, or in our ancient language, Gojira is a mythical monster said to be huge and massive. A diety of the sea, it is said that should we anger Gojira, he would come ashore and devour everypony and burn our villiages. The only solution is to offer up the beautiful females of the village to be its wifes. Only then would the creatures anger be placated. And ever since the ships have begun to disappear, thats all my grandfather can blame it on. An old legend. Such silliness if you ask me. Im sure there is a logical and reasonable solution to this issue." Summer said.
"Yes. I hope your right." Superb said.
"Now come. You all must be tired from your long journey. You can stay in the guest houses of the village." Summer said and leads them into the village on the south west part of the island. Its been modernized in the past few years. Straw huts now give way to concrete homes. Summer takes them to the guest house and the ponies settle in. "If you need anything, the chiefs hut is next door. Do not feel afraid to come talk to me." She says and bows as she leaves.
After settling in, Superb leaves to investigate as the others take a nap. While he interviews the islands residents he spots a building on top of a hill on the east side of thr village and walks up to investigate it. At the top he spots a shrine and a small temple. As he nears the temple a young filly mare comes out, dressed in a shrine maidens outfit.
"Hello there sir. Are you here to pay tribute to Gojira?" The young filly asks.
"This shrine is dedicated to Gojira?" Superb asks.
"Yes indeed. My name is Sweet Melody. I work here as a shrine maiden and take care of the shrine." The young filly says.
"Mm. I see. Intresting. May i ask how this legend came about?" Superb asks.
"Oh. I know very little about the legend. However i can get the temples preist. He knows everything about Gojira." Melody says.
"Then yes. It would be an honor to talk with the priest." Superb says. Smiling the young filly leaves and heads to the the temple and opens a door.
"Uncle? Uncle!? A guest is here and he'd like to talk to you about Gojira!" The young filly shouts.
"Yes yes Melody. I can hear you perfectly. No need to shout." A raspy voice said. Melody steps aside and a middle aged stallion walks out and over to Superb. "You must be the visitor. Welcome. My name is Sacred Tune."
"I am Superb Article. Thank you for taking your time for this." Superb said.
"Oh no need. I was bored anyways." Sacred says with a chuckle.
"Ah! Uncle! You said you were busy doing a ceramony and that i would have to do the cleaning!" Melody says with a grumpy look on her face. Sacred flinches and looks at her nervously.
"Uhhh.....well....i mean.....i was bored of the ceramony and i uh.......hee hee...." Sacred says nervously.
"Im not buying it Uncle." Melody said.
"Well.....um.....ill pay you twice as many bits if you complete your tasks." Sacred said.
"Mmmmmmmmmm............im going to remember this Uncle." Melody said and turns away and leaves to clean. Sacred lets out a sigh and Superb chuckles.
"She nearly got you." Superb says.
"Uh hee hee. Yes. A bit. Come. Lets go inside and talk over Gojira while we have tea." Sacred said and they walk into the temple. Inside its still of traditional architecture. Superb sits at a table and Sared makes some warm tea and brings out some snacks. He places the snacks on the table and passes a cup of tea to Superb. "Here you go." Sacred says.
"Thank you very much." Superb says. He takes a sip. "Mmm. Delicious. Its so smooth that it travels effortlessly down the throat. This is really good."
"Hee hee. Thank you. This is a special blend. Would you like to know the contents?" Sacred said.
"Hee. Later. But i do have a few questions for you about Gojira." Superb said.
"Yes of course. No doubt in relationship to the disappearing ships." Sacred said.
"Unfortunately yes. It is in relationship to the ships. The village chief has discounted the Godzilla myth as one of the causes. Originally i did too but seeing this temple and shrine i just have to get more information." Superb says as he brings out a notepad and paper.
"Of course. Song of Hope has been reluctant to believe in our villages traditions anymore. She'll do the ceramonies out of gratitude for her ancestors but i dont believe that she believes in our stories anymore." Sacred said.
"I see. May i ask why?" Superb says.
"Mm......it is not my place to speak about her like that." Sacred says.
"Of course. I understand. Forgive me. Then could you please tell me about the Gojira creature and the legend that accompanies it?" Superb says.
"Yes. That i can speak about. Gojira means "God beast". The ancient language used the words for whale and beast to describe it as a whale is the biggest creature out there. When modern times began to integrate into our society the name was slowly changed to Godzilla. A monster of god like proportions." As Sacred speaks, Superb writes everything down. "Legend goes that Gojira is a diety of the sea and waters that surrond this island. That should we displease it, the creture would come ashore and devour our ponies and burn the village. That the only way to placate its anger is to offer all of the beautiful mares of the village to be its wifes. Only then would it stop its destruction and leave us." Sacred said. Superb writes everything down then looks at Sacred.
"Is there any record of Godzilla actually coming ashore and attacking the village?" Superb asks.
"No. There is no written record of it. But there is a story of note, passed down from preist to preist that suggests that it has come ashore." Sacred said.
"Do you mind telling me the story." Superb said and pours himself more tea.
"Yes. I dont mind at all. Well, it began thousands of years ago. A giant creature rose from the depths and immediately went after the village. The village warriors tried to fight the creature back however they couldnt even damage it with the spears. The creature kept attacking and devoured many of our ancestors. For days this would continue. It would come ashore and attack us, devouring the ponies. Then one day the beautiful maidens of the village suggested that they offer themselves up to be the creatures wifes. Many people did not want to go through with it but seeing as they had no choice they went with it. The maidens went to the shore as the creature reamerged only to stop when the maidens called out to it. After saying they would offer themselves up to the creature as its wifes the creature turned and left us. The mares followed it into the sea. Ever since then the creature and the mares have never resurfaced. We built this temple and shrine in Gojira's and the Maidens memory as a reminder to never again disturb the creature." Sacred said. As Sacred had been telling the story, Superb was writing it all down.
"I see. Incredible. Is there a statue of the creature? What did it look like?" Superb said.
"Yes. We have a statue of the creature. Said to have been carved out thousands of years ago. Follow me." Sacred gets up and opens the doors. Superb follows Sacred into the inner part of the temple. Sacred opens a door and Superb looks inside with his eyes widening. At the back of the room is a large stone statue of a bipedal creature. It is hunched over with the head elongated and a long neck. It has small arms at the front and large legs in the back. A long tail adorns the back of the creature. Along the back is hundreds of small spikes. Its teeth are long and prominent. With five fingers and fours toes, all of them having long claws. Below the statue are twelve statues of mares.
"This. This is Gojira?" Superb asks.
"Yes. This is what Gojira is supposed to be. Below it are the twelve mares that gave their lifes to be Gojira's brides." Sacred said. Superb approachs the statue and begins to sketch it along with the mares.
"My. What a fearsome creature this thing is." Superb says as he finishes the sketch.
"We have maintained this statue for thousands of years. However we dont know if Gojira is actually a real creature." Sacred said.
"What do you think? Do you believe that he actualy exists?" Superb asks.
"I actually do." Sacred says. "I believe that out in the big blue ocean, lays the fearsome creature. One day he will make an appearance."
"I see. Hm. Well if he does, i hope its a peaceful one." Superb said as he looks at Sacred. Sacred chuckles and nods.
"Indeed. I hope so too." Sacred says. Superb walks past him and they head out into the courtyard and to the stone stairs. Melody walks over to them.
"Thank you so much for this. This was incredible and fascinating." Superb said with a smile.
"Thank you for stopping by. Please dont be a stranger. Should you ever return to Joyful Song island we'll welcome you here with open hooves and a laugh." Sacred says.
"It was very nice to meet you. I hope you do comeback to visit." Melody says. With a chuckle, Superb rubs the head of Melodys.
"Ill visit from time to time. Its fun here so its for sure ill be back." Superb said. As he walks down the stairs, Sacred and Melody wave. Superb stops and waves back then returns to walking back down.
Later that night, the village throws a celebration for its guests of honor. The entire village is in attendance as they talk, dance, eat and drink. Superb sits down out of the way and looks over his notebook, most particularly at the sketch of Godzilla. Summer walks over and sits next to him.
"I heard you went up and took a look at the Gojira shrine. Find anything useful to help you?" Summer said.
"No. Unfortunately not." Sacred said.
"I see. Well try not to focus on the story for too long. Otherwise youll wind up like my grandfather." Summer siad.
"Im curious though. Why dont you believe in Godzilla?" Superb said.
"Cause it makes no sense. None at all. A giant creature like that? Said to stop because a few ponies said that they'd be its wifes? Its just unbelievable. I visited the Royal Equestrian Museum in Canterlot. I say the paintings of Princess Celestia against Nightmare Moon. Princess Twilight Sparkle defeating Lord Tirek. The Mane 6 and the Pillars of Old Equestria against the Pony of Shadows. The dethorning of Queen Chrysalis. So much history. The Gojira legend is just unbelievable. With such powerful figures like that? I just cant believe the legend." Summer says.
"Hm. I see. Well, i have been to the Museum. I know of the great past of Equestria too. And yet. This Gojira legend sounds like it maybe feesable." Superb said.
"I see. Well believe what you want to. And if the legend is true, i hope that Gojira never actually has to come on land." Summer says and takes a sip from her mug.
"Hee. I feel the same way." Superb says and he looks out and into the main fire.
Late that night after all the commotion has died down and all the ponies have retired to their homes Superb and his other reporters are asleep in the honored guest house. As they sleep a glass of water on the night stand begins to ripple and shake. Superb wakes up as the wind gets picks up and louder. Rain begins to fall hard. Outside the waves get bigger as they slam against the shore and cliffs. Superb gets up as suddenly the shaking gets more violent and the weather more dangerous. It gets so violent that the windows and doors shake. Soon ponies begin to scream as they run out of their homes. Superb wakes the others and runs to the door. Just as he reaches the door, the roof and supports buckle begin to cave in. Superb looks up in horror as the roofing and beams come down on top of them.
The next morning after the weather has settled down, the residents of the village are making their way through the damage. Soon they pull Superb and his crew out. Superb had put up a magical barrier around them so they werent harmed. When they are pulled out they observe the destruction. Most of the houses have been flattened or destroyed. As they look around they see many of the people gathered in a circle in what used to be the chieftains place. As they walk over they see Summer crying over the corpse of her grandfather. Superb looks at her sadly as she cries over the corpse. Soon the sound of a the airship makes Superb look up as it lands. Superb rushes over as a pony comes out to talk with them.
"Are you Superb Article?" The pony asks.
"I am." Superb answers.
"Good. Princess Dawn has called for you and your team to return. There has been a development in the ship disappearances." The pony said.
"We cant. We need to help these people." Superb said.
"I feel for them but uh......." the pony said but then stopped as he looked behind Superb. Superb turns and sees some of the villagers behind them, led by Summer.
"Please. Let us see the princess. We want to appeal to her about this." Summer said.
"But......i dont know....." the pony siad.
"They should come along. As i think we have our culprit resposible for the ship disappearances." Superb said. The pony thinks then nods.
"Very well. Lets go." He said. Superb, Summer, Superbs associates, and 4 other townsfolk, including Sacred Tune get on the airship. It takes off and heads towards Canterlot. During the ride Superb goes over his notes and Summer watches out of the window at the passing scenery. Superb looks up and then puts his notes down and sits next to Summer.
"I saw what happened to your grandfather. I am so sorry for your loss." Superb said.
"I know. And thank you for your kindness. It means a lot to me. But. I just want to know, what was it that killed him. Last nights storm wasnt just a storm. No. There is something more to it." Summer said.
"I have to agree. It was a bad storm but a unnatural one that came out of nowhere. And the damage is strange too. Almost as if the houses were..." Just before Superb can finish his sentence, the pilot talks over the PA.
"Sorry for the interruption every pony. But soon we will landing soon. Please remain seated until we have landed. Thank you for your cooperation." The pilot said.
"I know what you were going to say. And i do believe you. I just curse my own foolishness. Maybe had i believed the legends, i could have done something to save my grandfather." Summer said mournfully.
"It wasnt your fault. No one could have prepared for last night. But we must carry on. Reveal everything. And pray that Princess Dawn can do something." Superb said.
"Right. Thank you." Summer said and looks at Superb with a smile. Superb smiles back as the airship lands. The doors open and a ton of reporter ponies are there taking pictures, reporting live, asking for exclusives or asking for information. Ponyguards hold back the reporters as the team passes through and enters Canterlot Castle. They walk through the castle lead by Princess Dawn's assistant. They soon come to the throne room. As the walk in, they admire everything. The stained glassed windows of old still stand. Ministers and other political ponies line the way to the throne. At the back is a single throne on an elevated double platform. Behind the throne stands four giant statues of the Alicorns of old and the original four princesses that helped usher in the golden age of Equestria: Princess Celestia, Princess Luna, Princess Mi Amore Cadenza, and Princess Twilight Sparkle. The ponies approach the throne and bow to Princess Dawn. The Princess smiles and motions for them to rise their heads.
"Please. Rise your heads. We have little time." Princess Dawn said. The ponies look up at her brilliance. "I have received word from the Queen of the Sea Ponies, Queen Starlennium, that something in the sea has been harming her seapony subjects and has been destroying her kindgdom, all the while heading towards Equestria. It was last seen nearing the Island of Joyful Song. Has there been any changes on the Island?"
"Actually Princess. There has. May i present the Chieftain of the Song Village, Song of Hope." Superb said.
"Your majesty. It is an honor to meet you. But today, my village has suffered its darkest hour." Summer said.
"Please, elaborate." Princess Dawn said.
"Late last night a terrible storm hit and most of the village was destroyed. However, we do not believe that it was just the storm. As all the building that were destroyed were all destroyed in the same manner. It was as if they had been stepped on by a giant hoof." Summer said. This caused all of the ministers to mutter amongst each other.
"And all the buildings suffered the same fate you say?" Princess Dawn said.
"Yes your majesty. If they werent, i could easily write this off as a freak accident and a typhoon. However, they were stepped on. No doubt about it. We hardly got a good look at it last night. But it was a giant creature that did it. No doubt about it." Summer said. This caused more mutters. After some thinking Princess Dawn raised her hoof and the ponies went silent.
"In light of the story ive been told, and the information Queen Starlennium has shared, i would be remorsed to not send a team to investigate. Superb Article, you and the native ponies will return with a team of my top scientists. They are to be led by Dr. Peter Paleo, a archaeologist, Dr. Petri Dish, a biologist, and Professor Robust Elements, a scientist. They will help you solve this mystery." Princess Dawn said.
"Understood Princess." Superb said.
"We thank you from the bottom of our hearts." Summer said.
"No need to thank me. You all are my precious citizens of Equestria. Its my duty to keep you all safe." Princess Dawn said with a smile. "Now ill have a ship prepared for you in Fillydelphia in a few hours. Until then why dont you all take a bit to unwind. Get something to eat."
"Princess. With all due respect. Its best if we return immediately and go ahead of the scientific team." Summer said.
"Song of Hope, i understand your fear and loyalty to your village. But after a stressful night, some rest and food are what you need right now. Trust me, i know the feeling as well." Princess Dawn said. After some thinking Summer nods
"Very well. Thank you your majesty." Summer said.
"Good. Ill alert the team to gather in Fillydelphia in the mean time. Now go and have a tasty meal." Princess Dawn said. The ponies bow and leave. A maid shows them to the dining hall. They sit around the dining table. Many of the ponies are nervous as they are served. Since its still morning they get breakfast meals. Pancakes, fruits, yogurts, toast with jam, the best foods they have ever tasted. They eat their fill and take a tour around the castle, being shown many of the sights that very few are privileged to even see at a distance. A few hours later a messenger pony arrives and tells them that the scientific team is nearly assembled in Fillydelphia and that they should leave immediately. The ponies board the airship and it lifts off, bound for Fillydelphia. After a few hours, the ship lands in Fillydelphia. The. Ponies disembark and are beyond glad when there are no reporter ponies around thanks to the fact that they are all still in Canterlot. They head to the harbor and finds the ship they need. As they approach, three ponies walk over to the group.
"Are you two Superb Article and Song of Hope?" The lead Earth pony said.
"Yes we are." Superb said.
"Excellent. I am Dr. Peter Paleo. Its nice to meet you all." The Earth pony said.
"I am Professor Robust Elements." The unicorn said.
"And i am Dr. Petri Dish." The other Earth pony said.
"Its nice to meet you all. I am Superb Article, a investigative journalist." Superb said.
"I am Song of hope, Cheiftain of the Song Village. I thank you all for coming to investigate and get to the bottom of this mystery." Summer said.
"Think nothing of it. Its extremely exciting to help find a UMA, a Unidentified Mysterious Animal." Peter said.
"Either way i thank you all on behalf of the Song Village." Summer said.
"Thank you. Now, shall we get going?" Peter said.
"Yes. Lets." Summer and Superb said together. All the ponies board the ship. Its a lab ship with tons of state of the art facilities aboard for studing. The ship set sail and leaves Harbor. Super, Summer, Peter, Petri, and Robust gather in a small confrence room in the hull and begin to go over what they all know but with no conclusions as to what it is, where it came from, solutions to it, or anything for that matter they decide to rest on the idea and pick it up in the morning when they arrive.
Morning comes and after a nice breakfast the ship docks at the islands main harbor on the north western part corner of the island where all of the Song Villages residents are waiting for their chieftain. Upon seeing there worried faces, Summer rushes to them.
"My friends. Has something happened?" Song said worriedly.
"Indeed. Something has happened. Last night, it came back." A pony said. The team all gasp in shock.
"It. You mean. The creature that trampled the village? It came back?" Summer said.
"Yes. However it was dark last night so very few actually got a good look at it. But apparently it is extremely huge. Like a tower. And it walked with two legs and had a long tail." The pony said.
"Two legs and a long tail. Intresting." Superb and Peter said together as they both noted it in their journals.
"And one more thing. This way." The pony said, turning away and began to walk. The team follows him. They come to a cliff side over looking the village. The pony points to the ground below them. "Look there." The ponies peer over the edge and gasp. On the ground are giant foot prints. The ends are tipped with four toes with sharp claws. The steps are sunk into the ground by heavy weight. Drag marks are also present with something having been dragged through the middle of the foot steps. The footsteps head into the interior of the island. The ponies head down to take a look and surround one of the foot prints. The size alone is large enough to crush two, maybe three ponies with one step. As the team takes a size measurment, Superb Spots something in the next print and walks over.
"Uhhhhh.......Mr. paleo?! You might want to come see this!" Superb shouted. Immediately all of the ponies run over and take a look and gasp. Inside the print, is a oval-shaped creature in it. It has a exoskeleton like that of an insect and long antenna. The exoskeleton in the middle is seperated into multiple segments. Dr. Paleo looks down at it to examine it and his eyes go wide eyed.
"This. This is a trilobite. A species of arthropods that were thought to have gone extinct hundreds of millions of hears ago. Yet this one...this one looks like it was once alive not too long ago. What in the world is it doing here and how did it survive?" Dr. Paleo said. As he began to reach down for it Professor Robust put a hoof out and stops him.
"Wait. Dont touch it. Its radiated with radiation." Robust said.
"R-radiation? How is that possible?" Paleo said.
"I dont know. But." Robust said and shows him a radiation monitor and its spiking high. "The meter doesnt lie. So i wouldnt touch it."
"I wonder how it survived for so long. And how these foot prints are irradiated." Petri said.
"Maybe the sourse of these footprints will have the answer. The creature that created these foot prints." Paleo said.
"A great idea. The foot prints head to the north east side of the hills." Superb said.
"Is it still there?" Summer asked the pony.
"I dont know ma'am. Everyone is too scared to go and take a look. But it hasnt appeared since last night either." The pony said.
"Well, no time like the present. Nothing ventured, nothing gained." Superb said.
"Hes right. We need to find out what is out there. Lets go every pony!" Paleo said. The team of ponies begin to follow the foot prints while the villagers head back to the harbor. As the team follows the the foot prints lead them the the north east side of the island and to the tallest peak of the island. The ponies begin to walk up the moutain. As they do they feel the ground shake. But instead of a constant rumble like a earthquake, its a series of shakings like footsteps. The ponies near the peak of the moutain just as the shaking gets a little more violent. They atop and look up just as they see the cause of the shaking. A giant reptilian head appears over the moutain and heads towards the ponies. The ponies begin to back up as they take pictures of the creature as more and more of its body appears.
The head is large and round. A blunt snout with long rows of teeth and two fangs cover the inside of the mouth. It possesses very pronounced brows and large circular eyes with small pupils. The head tapers off into a large lower body. The arms on the creature are small and possess five clawed fingers. The legs are large and bulky with four toes that contain claws. Along the back of the body are large doral fins that are uneven and extend out of the back of the creature. The skin of the creature is black as charcoal and incredibly rough and hard.
The creature begins walking towards the ponies. The team begin to panic and run off with only the lead ponies, Paleo, Petri, Robust, Superb, and Summer slowly backing up to get pictures. The creature keeps heading towards them but as it approaches the group it just passes over them with out giving so much as a though. Although the ponies have to move out of the creatures dragging tail, it doesnt pay the ponies any mind at all. They watch as it heads out and down to the northern central part of the island. They follow it when it reaches the north central beach and walks into the water. The team of ponies stop at the beach and a crowd of villagers forms as all of the ponies watch as the creature keeps walking into the water until it full submerges itself. The ponies watch in complete shock and awe to what they just witnessed.
"That.......i definitely was not expecting that." Paleo said.
"That thing was huge. Ginormous." Petri said.
"So that thing was the cause of the ships disappearing then. Its unbelievable but there it was. Now its headed back out to sea." Robust said.
"And headed north." Superb said. All the ponies look at him then gasp.
"Oh no. Is it....could it be headed for Equestria?" Robust said. With that one sentance everypony looks out to where the creature was headed with horror. Superb then breaks the silence.
The small island of Song is in an uproar and near panic. Less than an hour ago, a gigantic creature just walk over all of the ponies and into the sea, headed towards Equestria. While most of the islands residents ran around in a panic, or ran to the shrine and began to pray, and ponies from the main land were running around trying to figure out what had just happened, only Summer Song, Dr. Peter Paleo, Prof. Robust Elements, Dr. Petri Dish and Superb Article remained calm and collected. They return to the destroyed village and to check out the area where Godzilla first came ashore. Superb, Petri, Robust and Paleo begin to study the pictures that were taken along with the footprint that is being casted. Summer walks around and studies the damaged caused to her village. She notes that the buildings were trampled as if a bear had walked over an ant hill. It was merciless and unforgiving yet also uncalculating. There was no precision in the attack, no qualms of fear, just a reckless attack on the village. Yet, while it seemed like it was more then just animalistic instinct that made the creature attack the village. Summer felt a cold, sharp, pain run up her spine as she surveyed the damage, a feeling full of malice and hatred. Thus a single question came to her mind: why did the creature feel hatred when it attacked? Summer notes everything down and heads back to the other ponies as they finish casting the footprint and then takes samples of the footprint to study on the way back as well as the trilobite they found earlier and had it placed in a special container since it was irradiated.
"Alright, we got everything that we need. Did you find anything out Ms. Song?" Robust said.
"Hmmmmm..........well......yes." Summer said.
"What is it? You seem hesitant to say it. Is it that bad?" Superb said.
"No no. Nothing like that. Its just...a bit farfetched is all." Summer said.
"How farfetched?" Petri said.
"Well...." Summer gathered the ponies in a group so others couldn't hear them. "What would you all say is i said that the attack on our village and, most likely, the ships as well were done out of hatred and malice?" Summer said.
"Hmmmm....an interesting analysis. What made you come to that conclusion?" Pertri asked.
"As i walked around the village, all i felt was this cold, sharp pain....as if someone with killing intent was watching me. Godzilla must have a ton of hatred for pony kind for some reason for it to linger for so long." Summer said.
"This is actual valuable knowledge. We now know that the creature has a degree of intelligence that it is sentient and has feelings of at least hatred. This could be big." Petri said.
"First things first. We take what we have gathered to the ship for analysis and then evacuate everyone off the island. At least until the threat is over." Superb said. Summer looks at him slightly hesitant but then nods.
"I'll.......I'll talk with the villagers. Get them ready to leave." Summer said as she left to calm all of the villagers. Petri, Paleo, Robust and Superb talk with the team members and get the ship ready to leave. After a few minutes the villagers begin to board the ship to leave. The ship leaves port and heads west towards Baltimare to avoid Godzilla, Superb calls for a airship to meet them at Baltimare then to Canterlot to set up a confrence to present their findings. Down in the hull the scientists examine all of the samples they have collected. Looking through microscopes, scanning the samples, everything they could do they did. They begin to learn so much about Godzilla. Where the radiation came from and what type it is. How old Godzilla is, where it came from, how big it is, everything. They work well into the night and morning. Early in the morning they enter Horseshoe Bay and dock at the Baltimare port. Superb, Summer Paleo, Petri, and Robust disembark. They head to the airship and board it. It takes off and heads towards Canterlot. As it flies over head the ponies review their information and prepare the final preparations for their presentation. At dusk the airship lands and reporter ponies once again swarm the team, only to be held back security guards. The team heads inside but instead of a maid greeting them, the Minister of the Foreign Bureau meets them.
"Welcome back everypony. I hope your test has been enlightening for you all to return so quickly and with much need." He says.
"It is. We have solved the puzzle. Now we only need solutions on what to do with the puzzle." Superb said.
"I hope so." The minister said as he turned and began to walk away, the ponies following him. "The public has grown restless, irritated, with little information. Foreign relationships with the seaponies also grow strained as we promised them help and a quick resolution to this situation. In fact just yesterday, Princess Seastar, the eldest daughter of Queen Starlennium, arrived."
"The princess of the seaponies is here? Why?" Superb said.
"Foremost because of the reason i just said. But also because this issue is now also the seaponies problem now as well, as the creature has been destroying many of the seaponies belongings as well as harming them in the processing." The minister said.
"Yes. That would complicate things." Superb said.
"Indeed. Yesterday you gave a call for all the ministers and her majesty to gather for a confrence correct? Well we have all gathered along with princess Seastar." The minister said.
"Excellent. We are ready to give our report and presentation." Superb said.
"Most excellent. Thats a bit of good news that i like to hear." The minister said as they reached the conference room. The guard ponies open the doors for them. All of the minister ponies, princess Seastar, in her hippogriff form, and princess Dawn are sat around a oval table argueing but they all go quiet when they see Super and his team.
"My fellow ministers. Your majesties, the team has returned." The minister said.
"With good news i pray." Princess Seastar said. Superb and Summer look at each other worringly then back to the ministers and royalty.
"Well. I guess you can say that, in a matter of perspective." Superb said a bit worriedly. The other ponies look at them confused.
"Hm. Well, please begin your presentation." Princess Dawn said. Nodding the team heads to the front of the confrence room, in front of a white board. Using his magic, Superb brings up a magical screen and first brings up the foot prints they discovered.
"Yesterday, upon arrival, we were shown these footprints. They started at the village of Song and worked their way into the interior of the island. They are large enough to fit two, maybe three ponies under its foot. We casted the foot and scientists asre srill studying it. We also observed a trilobite stuck and dead in one of the footprints." Superb said. He makes the image transition to the footprint with the trilobite stuck in it.
"A trilobite? But those creatures are supposed to be extinct." The minister of Archeology said.
"Indeed. But as impossible as it is, we found one." Paleo said. The ministers whisper amongst each other. Princess Dawn holds a hoof up and the ministers fall silent.
"Im sure these five ponies still have more to talk about." Princess Dawn said.
"Indeed we do. Thank you your majesty. Now, we followed the footprints into the islands interior. When we cam face to face with the creature we have dubbed, Godzilla." Superb said as he changed the image to Godzilla. The minister and princess Seastar gasp and look at it in awe. They whisper on its features and how huge it is.
"Using the pictures as refrences and the casting of the foot print, we have concluded that the creature is about fifty meters high and one hundred meters long. Using these rough estimates and calculating the density of a lizards skin, we think its weight comes in around twenty thousand metric tons. Mind this all theory however, the creature is real. After running some tests with Dr. Petri Dish, we have concluded that its origins lie with a rare species of ponysaurus. Ones that lived both an aquatic lif as well as a terrain life. However, a standard aquatic - terrain ponysaurus stood no more than a few dozen meters high. This doubles or triples that size." Paleo said.
"So. Something caused this to mutate and grow bigger then." The minister of education said.
"Indeed. The radiation found on the foot prints was Stronium-90, a highly radioactive substance found in the aftermath of Super Bomb explosions. And i have a theory." Superb said as he switches the image to a map of the Celestial Sea with dots on the map. "These dots represent the locations of attacks on the ships. The earliest attack was down south, here. Just on the border, of a highly classified, military territory. Equestrian military territory. A territory that is highly controversial since a year ago, i might add." All of the ponies look at Princess Dawn. She sighs.
"Indeed. Nearly a year ago, we got the permission of the Seaponies to test a single nuclear Super Bomb out at sea. The area was thought to be devoid of life and the water would scatter the radiation." Princess Dawn said.
"The Juliet November test." The minister of armaments said as he looked down.
"The bomb went off. Everything went off with out a hitch. Until the public heard about it and became concerned we would ever test a super bomb. Then the radition became a problem as well. It was a grave mistake on my behalf. While no one was harmed in the aftermath of the explosion, it still called for grave concern." Princess Dawn said somberly.
"The explosion must have awoken Godzilla from his sleep and the radiation must have mutated him to the creature we see now." Superb said.
"Indeed." Princess Dawn said as she leaned back in her seat and gave a huge sigh of frustration.
"What happened to the creature on the Island of Song?" The minister of Science asked.
"Well......here comes the bad news." Superb said. All the ponies look at him. "Godzilla was last seen walking into the water on the north side of the island. We suspect that.....it's headed for Equestria." This statement causes the ministers to talk amongst each other. The fact that Godzilla is coming send panic into the room. Finally the minister of property speaks out.
"Fellow ministers. Please. Please. Calm down." The other ministers look at him. "First thing first, this information cannot be made public. Think of the backlash if we did."
"I disagree." The minister of disaster said. "The people will find out eventually. This problem is too big for us to conceal. It is better to tell the truth before were found out that we have lied." An argument between all of the ministers breaks out for a while. They only stop when Princess Dawn raises her hoof and the ponies go silent.
"My friends. Please. Calm yourselves. We will take a vote." Dawn said and passes out slips of paper. "Please write down what you wish to happen. Secret or reveal will be the words." The ministers begin to write down their opinions. They fold the papers up and pass them back to the princess. After a bit she reads through them all. "With a eighty five percent height, we will reveal the creature to the public. However, as to accommodate the last fifteen percent, we will only reveal the critical information. Is this agreeable?" The ministers nod in agreement.
"Now that we have all come to an agreement on what to do with the information, we must move onto the more important subject." The minister of disaster said.
"And that is?" Asked Superb.
"What our response should be to this creature." The minister said. The ponies agree.
"It is simple. Eradication is the only answer. Send the fleet. A few depth charges and torpedos should do the trick." The minister of disaster said. Paleo opens his mouth to speak but before he can say a word the ministers all begin to agree with overwhelming majority. Princess Dawn nods.
"Very well. We will release some of the information as well as prepare a anti-Godzilla fleet to lauch. We will require you five ponies tomhelp map the location of Godzilla." Princess Dawn said.
"Yes your majesty." Paleo, Robust, Superb, Summer, and Petei said.
"Very good. This counsel is hereby dismissed." Princess Dawn said. The ministers stand up and begin to leave. The team also leave but Paleo seems a little down.
In the morning Princess Dawn tells the reporters about Godzilla. Immediately the entirety of Equestria is sweeped away. Talk about this creature becomes the biggest topic. Other races living in Equestria, Changlings, Dragons, Yaks, Sea Ponies, Hippogriffs, Griffons, and crystal ponies send envoys, specialists and equipment for help in fighting Godzilla. The team of ponies help plot Godzillas course and his likely position. Meanwhile, Dr. Paleo watches on a bit sad. He returns home.
The fleet is assembled in a naval base near Fillydelphia. The ships loaded up with depth charges and torpedos. On the day the fleet sets out, a crowd gathers on the harbor to cheer them on. The fleet sounds their horns as they leave the harbor and plots a course to intercept Godzilla. At dusk, just as the sun is being lowered, the attack begins. Ponies watch at home as reporter pegasi stream the attack live. Ponies throw depth charges over board, set at various depths, while submarines, outside of the kill zone, launch torpedos that decend into the abyss. The spectators cheer for the fleet. After about half an hour the attack continues nonstop until the ships run out of depth charges and the submarines are out of torpedos. The fleet declares Godzilla dead. Every being in Equestria celebrates. Many hold parties. The fleet turns around to return to Fillydelphia.
The next morning, ponies are cleaning up the streets and preparing to welcome back the fleet. Ponies gather at the harbor to cheer and welcome the ships back. Just as the first ship crosses the horizon a strange groaning sound is heard in the harbor. The ponies look atound in confusion as another groan sounds. Suddenly the ground gives a violent shake and the ponies back off as large bubbles begin to form near the harbor dock. Suddenly a creature rises from the deep and gives a loud screeching roar. The ponies recognize it as Godzilla and panic as they run. As Godzilla rises, giant Trilobites fall off him and they chase the bystandards. Military ponies and guards rush to defend the spectators. Godzilla looks around then decends back into the water. The military and guard ponies kill the trilobites or push them back into the water. Godzilla was out of the water for less than a minute but it sends a wave of fear and panic across all of Equestria. The residents cry out in fear and for help to their leaders. That day the leaders of all the kingdoms of Equestria come together to find out what to do. Meanwhile the original research team is reassembled.
Robust, Petri, Paleo, Summer and Superb gather at the Canterlot Castle. They gather in a confrence room with other specialists and Equestrian leaders. As soon as everyone quiets down the leader of the changlings, Barlynx, stands to speak first.
"So, how did this happen? We were all told that Godzilla was destroyed. So please, Princess Dawn, tell us how your navy failed so miserably to destroy Godzilla." Barlynx said.
"Please, calm yourself, King Barlynx. We have yet to find out the entire truth." Queen Starlennium said.
"Your right Queen Starlennium. Please forgive me Princess Dawn." Barlynx said.
"Thats ok. Everyone is on edge. But to answer your question, we dont know. We plotted the course correctly and it even arrived at the naval base near Baltimare just ahead of our fleet. There are only two possible reasons as to its survival. One: the torpedos and depth charges missed it and never hit it. Minister of armaments?" Princess Dawn said.
"That reason is a logical one but i say its invalid. We set the depth charges to the bottom and even one hundred meters above the bottom. Also, the torpedos should have picked it up with sonar and homed in on it. We spread the depth charges and torpedos over a one by one mile box. Theres little chance of it escaping that bombardment." The minister of armaments said.
"I see. Then the only other conclusion is that they hit but it wasnt killed." Princess Dawn said.
"We all saw the bombardment. Nothing should have survived that." Flame, the Dragon Lord, said.
"Which is the reason i have brought in the team that discovered Godzilla in." Princess Dawn said. All the participants look at the five ponies. "Do any of you know how Godzilla survived?" Summer, Superb, Petri, and Robust stay silent byt Paleo steps up.
"It should be quite obvious, normal weapons cannot harm Godzilla as it survived a Super Bomb explosion. Normal weapons cannot harm it." Paleo said. The leaders sigh in distress. The minister of armaments slams his hoof against the table, cracking it. He stands up and looks at Paleo angrily.
"Why did you not alert us to this earlier!?" He shouted. "We wasted all that time and resources for no reason!!"
"I TRIED TO BUT YOU MINISTERS CASTED THE VOTES BEFORE I COULD EVEN SAY A THING!!!" Paleo shouted back causing the minister the flinch and meekly sit down.
"Calm. Both of you. Please. Dr. Paleo. Please forgive us. We made a rash and hasty decision. We will now listen to you and any suggestions you have." Princess Dawn said.
"Yes. Apologies for my shouting your majesty." Paleo said. "As to a solution, instead of a explosive solution, we may want to go with something else."
"Like?" King Gridly, leader of the Griffons, said.
"All creatures are affected by electricity. I suggest the building of a power line defence grid along the sea board. Then the deployment of a military force of both magic units and vehicles." Petri said.
"Thats a tall order." The minister of power said.
"Ill have workers help." King Barlynx said.
"Ame here. Military as well." King Gridly said.
"Here here." Queen Starlennium said.
"The Yaks help too." Prince Yimirlm of the Yaks said.
"The dragons may not be good at building, but we have great fire power." Dragon Lord Flame said.
"The Crystal Empire can provide you many materials." Princess Liebe of the Crystal Empire said.
"The Hippogriffs will also help. This concerns all of Equestria." Queen Sweet Wind of the hippogriffs said.
"Thank you all. There is much work to be done." Princess Dawn said the the otber Equestrian leaders then looked to the pony research team. "Please ask your colleagues if they have any solutions to Godzilla."
"Yes Princess." The five ponies said. Princess Dawn has the Minister of Power and the minister of Building cooperate to set up the powerlines. The other Equestrian leaders call their subjects to have them come and help.
Meanwhile Petri heads to Ponyville, he has a scientist pony friend there, one of the smartest inventors that isnt publicly known. He arrives and knocks on the door but with no answer he opens it and peeks in.
"Hello!? Smart Flask?" Petri shputed.
"Yeah! Im down here! Come on down!" A voice came from the basement. Petri enters and closes the door then heads down. When he reaches the bottom he sees a unicorn staring into a flask.
"You know, I keep telling you to get a door bell or maybe a security camera to help you." Petri said.
"Huh? Oh. Yeah. Well. Ive been busy." Smart said.
"Hee. I bet. What are you doing?" Petri said.
"About to test my new invention." Smart said.
"I see. Well. Can i bug you just for a bit. Then ill let you get back to your experimentation." Petri asked.
"Yes. Of course." Smart said and trotted over to Petri.
"Im guessing you've heard about the Godzilla panic." Petri said.
"Yes of course. Isnt that one of the new fads with the watches fron Griffonstone?" Smart said.
"What? No. How long have you been down here?" Petri asked a bit shocked.
"Uuuhhhhhh.......whats the date again?" Smart said.
"Uuuuuuuuuhhhhhh." Petri have a huge sigh and began to fill in Smart about what has happened the past few weeks.
"I see. A monster that can survive a super bomb. Thats one tenacious creature then." Smart said.
"Yeah. No kidding. The reason i came to you is that you know bio - chemical science better than any pony. Do you have any solutions to Godzilla?" Petri asked.
"Doubtful. Any creature that can survive a super bomb, means it has a super thick hide for protection. It would require a lot of energy to penetrate that hide." Smart said.
"Well, what about magic attacks?" Petri said.
"Magic could work. But as we both know, magic and radiation dont mix well. In fact a magic defects radiation and vice versa. If the creature is radioactive, that means it most likely has radiation spewing from its body which, if concentrated enough, could deflect magic attacks." Smart said.
"Buck. Your right." Petri said.
"I dont know what you can do. Only enough fire power or a high penetrating force can defeat him." Smart said.
"I guess your right. By the way, what was your experimentation? It sounded important if you dont know about Godzilla." Petri said.
"Hm....well i guess its better to show you than to explain it." Smart said. He walks over to a fish tank where dozens of fish are swimming in it and Petri follows.
"Are these your test subjects?" Petri asked. Smart pulls out a small metallic sphere. He looks at petri.
"Observe." Smart said and tosses the sphere into the water. It hits the glass bottom with a clunk then spits apart. Immediately the tank is filled with bubbles. To his horror, Petri watches as the fish begin to dissolve. The flesh on the fish disintergrates away leaving only the bones to sink to the bottom. Petri turns away in disgust, about ready to vomit. Smart walks over and helps him to a chair.
"Im sorry. I shouldn't have shown you that." Smart said somberly.
"Uh. Im. Im ok. But. What was that?" Petri said.
"Its called the Oxygen Destroyer. I stumbled upon it during my research into oxygen. It splits the water molecules from the oxygen molecules and then disintergrates them. As you saw, it does horrible things to living beings." Smart said sadly.
"Any living being?" Petri asked.
"Yes." Smart answered.
"Do you think it will have an effect on Godzilla?" Petri asked and looked at Smart. Horrified Smart stood up and turned around.
"Yes. And before you ask your next question, no. You cannot use it." Smart said and began to walk to a table. Petri got up and followed him.
"Smart. Please. Like you said, we may have no weapon that can hurt Godzilla. This device maybe our only hope." Petri said.
"No. Leave Petri." Smart said.
"I know what you made is horrifying, but it can be useful. It doesnt require magic and it bypasses any kind of armor. If you can just make a larger one-" Petri said but his cut off when Smart looks back at him angerly.
"If i reveal the Oxygen Destroyer to everyone, itll start an arms race for it! You saw the devastation it causdd in a small fish tank! Think about what would happen if released in a city or town! What would happen then! This is not a miracle pill! Is a destructive device! I will never allow it or the reaserch to leave this lab! Now leave!" Smart shouted angerly. Petri looked down and turned away.
"I. Im sorry. Your right. Im sorry for pressuring you like that. Ill talk to you later." Petri said as he walked up and out of the house leaving Smart in the basement alone.
Back in Canterlot Superb is brought in before Princess Dawn. Superb walks into the throne room and sees Princess Dawn on the throne. He walks to her and bows before her then looks up at her.
"You wished to see me your majesty?" Superb asked.
"Yes, Superb, I did. I wanted to tell you something important." Princess Dawn said.
"Yes your majesty?" Superb said.
"The Equestrian leaders and i have been talking and we decided to appoint you as the chief commander of the Anti-Godzilla force." Princess Dawn said.
"Me? As the chief commander of the Anti-Godzilla forces?" Superb said in surprisment.
"Yes. You were one of the ones who discovered Godzilla. As well as one of the few who have seen and have extensive knowledge of Godzilla. You also helped in the stabilization of the dragon-changling border years ago when you had command of a changling squad and directed them through the dragon lands with out them getting noticed. Your overqualified. All of the Equestrian leaders have agreed that you are to lead the forces." Princess Dawn said with a smile.
"Thank you. This is.....well.....a great honor. Ill do my best." Superb said with a smile.
On the east coast of Equestria, all the kingdoms of Equestria have their workers busy setting up power line towers and a power station. Fleets of ships are patrolling up and down the coast in search of Godzilla. Days go by and the power line towers stand tall and strong at last. The power lines run through them. Finally after many tests the switch is thrown and three hundred thousand volts of electricity flows through the power lines, and just in the nick of time as Godzilla was detected heading north towards Manehatten. The city is immediately evacuated and the electricity is turned off. The military and armed forces of all the kingdoms rush to Manehatten in hopes to intercept Godzilla. Summer, Superb, Petri, Robust, and Paleo watch from a tower across the water on the mainland and through high tech binoculars. That night after the sun is set and the moon is risen, search lights are light up as the navy says that Godzilla is near Manehatten. Summer, Superb, Petri, Robust and Paleo watch out of the window of the tower they are in. Suddenly the fleet appears and a bulge of water moves near the harbor but it stops and decends. A huge wave crashes into the harbor wall, sending a wave of sea water across the land. The fleet and army keeps their weapons trained on where the bulge hd disappeared.
The water begins to bubble again as the water rose and broke as Godzilla stood up. It gave a loud roar and took a step on land and began to walk onto land. The navies cannons open fire on Godzilla but with little effect Godzilla kept walking. The world leaders watch on a monitor back in Canterlot. Superb picks up a microphone and talks to the ships over the radio.
"All ships. Hold your fire." Superb said. The navies stop firing and Godzilla keep walking, right towards the power lines. "Power station, this is base. Power the lines on my mark." Godzilla keeps walking towards the power lines. As Godzilla nears the lines the power station ponies have their hooves on the lever to initiate the power transfer. "Hold. Hold."
"How long do they have to hold out?" Summer asked.
"Just watch." Superb said. Godzilla keep getting near and then gets tangled in the lines. "NOW!!"
The power station ponies flip the lever and and three hundred thousand volts of electricity flow through the power lines. Sparks shoot out as the electricity electrocutes Godzilla. It gives a high pitched roar of pain and flails about.
"Yes! We got it!" Superb yelled in excitement. All the ponies around him cheer. Godzilla keeps flailing as its electrocuted but breaks free and stumbles backward. The ponies stop cheering and look out.
"It broke free? Buck!" Summer said.
"Calm yourself. At least we now know electricity effects it." Superb said. This piqued Petri's intrest as he began to think. "If we cant kill it, we can at least defend against it. Maybe even make a fence around the sea."
The ponies look out the window towards Godzilla. It stares at the power lines and it gives a loud ear piercing roar. Ponies near by cover their ears with their hooves. Then the dorsal fins on Godzillas back begin to glow. Suddenly Godzilla fires a white, mist-like beam from his mouth and targets the power line towers. The towers instantly turn red and orange from the heat. The power lines do the same but they snap and the towers lean to one side. Closing his mouth Godzilla continues on, entering Manehatten. All the ponies look on, completely slack hjawed at what they had just witnessed.
"W-what was that?" Superb said completely astonished.
"It seemed to be a breath of some sort. Of super hot air that super heated the power towers." Robust said.
"Well thats as far as it goes. Land wave one. Move in. Tanks open fire and magical artillery, fire." Superb said as he regains his composure. Tanks roll out all around Godzilla and open fire. The Sabot rounds do very little against Godzilla. Unicorns open fore with their magic but they too dont even aze Godzilla but they dont let up, hoping to find a chink in his armor they keep going. While the bravery of the ponies is commendable, Godzilla slowly keeps advancing.
"All tanks and ponies, back up. Do not get underfoot. Understand?" Superb said. On cue the front tanks back up slowly as to avoid getting stepped on. The other tanks keep pace with Godzilla while still firing. The ponies use their magic to teleport themselves bit by bit to stay ahead of the destruction. Each step that Godzilla takes, causes a building to be destroyed or damaged. Godzilla lets out a roar as it trashes a tower and topples it on a tank colum. The base ponies listen to the screams of the ponies in the tanks as they are destroyed. Superb closes his eyes in frustration and sadness. The others look away. Godzilla lets out a roar and his dorsal plates glow as he lets out his breath again, setting the surrounding buildings on fire. The cries of the other divisions begin to flood the radio. The pony general looks at Superb.
"Chief Commander. The forces need leadership." The pony said. Superb opens his eye and nods.
"Right." He picks up the radio's microphone. "Land waves two and three. Attack from long range. Aerial waves one and two attack. Attack with bombs. Drop them on weak point like the joints, vitals and dorsal fins. Land wave one fall back. Join up with land wave two." Superb ordered.
As ordered, the first wave of tanks and magic artillery ponies immediately fall back towards the others. The second and third waves attack at long range targeting the joint and vital areas of Godzilla. Meanwhile Pegasi, Changlings, Dragons, Griffons and Hippogriffs take off carrying bombs. The tanks and magical artillery ponies keep up the fire as the aerial waves fly over. Some cheer as they do. As the flyers get close Godzilla looks up and roars at them. As he roars the first wave drop their bombs and does a U-turn up to return to the base. The bombs hit Godzilla in all sort of places and some even miss and impact the ground. Godzilla roars and his dorsal fins light up again.
"BREATH INCOMING! EVADE EVADE!" The second aerial wave commander called out. Immediately the flyers all broke formation as Godzilla fired his breath. The flyers manage to dodge the breath and drop their bombs. But because they broke formation, the most of the bombs miss Godzilla completely while the few that do hit hit him in non-target areas. As the second aerial wave retreats the ground forvces are having zero luck, their weapons dont even tickle Godzilla. Superb slams his hoof against the wall.
"BUCK! Nothing. Nothing is working." Superb said angirly. The ponies look at him and summer sets a hoof on his sholder.
"Dont lose faith just yet." Summer said trying to comfort Superb.
"Thank you Summer." Superb said and pulls up his binoculars once again. "Send all the ground forces. Surround Godzilla. If we cant defeat him, hopefully we can at least drive him away. All tank waves, surround Godzilla and do not stop firing. See if you can get him to leave."
Obeying the orders the rest of the land forces move in and open fire from a distance. They move to surround Godzilla. The increased tank fire finally catches Godzilla's attention as it begins to annoy him. Godzilla lets out a loud roar and again the dorsal fins glow and fires the breath.
"GET OUT OF THERE!!" Superb yells through the radio. But its too late for many as the breath hits a portion of the tanks, immediately melting them and killing the crews inside. Godzilla then begins to drag the breath to his right, across the tanks, destroying them. This stuns the ponies at the headquarters building. The tanks behind Godzilla immediately begin to retreat back to escape Godzilla. With no opposition to him, Godzilla once agains fires his breath into the buildings, setting them ablaze. Superb watches on in disappointment.
"No weapons can harm it. Nothing. We cant beat it." Superb said sadly. The ponies watch on as Godzilla burns the city. The general then turns to the aerial commander.
"Tell all of the flyers to arm with missiles. They will attack on my signal." The general looks at Superb then nods and leaves to contact the flyers. Meanwhile, Godzilla keeps destroying Manehatten. He topples skyscarpers, burns its surroundings, throws trains and other vehicles, and finally destroys the bridge that connects Manehatten to the mainland, trapping the ponies that couldn't get away in time. Godzilla roars triumphantly and begins to head back into the sea, leaving the city to burn and the ponies to cry out.
"Now." The general tells the air commander.
Immediately the all of the flyers take off again. As Godzilla is half submerged the flyers attack. They use a targetting software in their helmets to lock on and fire the missiles. The missiles impact Godzilla causing him to stop. In retaliation he swings around and fires his breath again vaporizing most of the flyers. Those that survive crash into the city, some of the unfortunate flyers crash into a burning building and die. The General and Air Commander watch on in horror at the huge mistake they have made. Godzilla, satisfied with its destruction, returns to the sea. Behind him, he leaves a city burning, a tanks melted, ponies and their allies crying for help or in pain, and the city cut off from mainland.
Morning has come. Princess Dawn rises the sun and lowers the moon. As the sun rises it reveals the results from last nights attack by Godzilla on the pony metropolis of Manehatten. Buildings are still burning, the corpses of many Equestrian races litter the ground, burning, half vaporived, crushed or impaled. The radiation meter is off the chart. The ponies that enter the city wear heavy radition suits. They analyze the damage and take samples for study. They also collect the bodies of the dead to have them be laid to rest. Meanwhile the media is raging about the failure of the Equestrian forces and leaders. The citizens are devastated over the attack and sadden by the deaths of their friends and family. In Canterlot a huge protest breaks out near Canterlot Castle. The royal guard ponies keep the protesters back as they cry out for answers and for Godzilla to be destroyed. Inside the Equestrian leaders, Summer Song, Superb Article, Petri Dish, Peter Paleo, and Robust Elements are in a confrence room with the Equestrian leaders argueing what to do with Princess Dawn sitting down with her head in her hoofs. The research team sit at the other end, silent and sad as they were powerless to do anything against Godzilla the past night.
"That was an embarrassment last night!" Flame, the current Dragon Lord , said.
"None of our weapons had any effect against the creature." Barlynx, King of the Changlings, said.
"We find new way yet?" Yimirlm , the Yaks Prince, asked.
"We need bigger fire power!" Gridly, the griffon king, yells.
"What good will more fire power do? This creature survived a super bomb." Queen Starlennium of the Seaponies said.
"Well we must do something." Queen Sweet Wind, the Hippogriff queen said.
"We will but as events have shown, we need to know more about the creature to destroy it." Princess Liebe of the Crystal Empire said.
"We dont have the time to be studying. Just send a bigger, more powerful super bomb at it." Flame said.
"How can you say that!?" Princess Liebe said. A large arguement breaks out on what to do. The research ponies watch as a full scale verbal war breaks out amongst the Equestrian leaders with only Princess Dawn keeping her composure. The research ponies look at each other and then heads into the room over. There they sigh as they sit around a table.
"This is all our fault. We needed to work faster. If we did we could have found a way to kill Godzilla." Paleo said sadly. Summer puts a hoof on his sholder.
"Dont despair. No one could have predicted any of this. We did the best we cpuld with what we knew. Now we have more and have to find a way to destroy Godzilla before he returns." Summer said.
"Shes right. We did our best but now we have to do better. Let us honor the ones who died and fight for the ones still alive." Superb said.
"Right. Right. We have to." Paleo said regaining his confidence.
"Excellent." Superb said. Just then the royal confrence room gets so loud they can hear cheers as. The ponies poke their head out to take a look as the leaders begin to walk out, confident that their plan will work out. As they dont see Princess Dawn they head to the confrence room and look in. There they see Princess Dawn with her head in her hands. They walk over to her.
"Did something happen Princess?" Superb asked with concern in his voice.
"Yes. Something happened. The Equestrian leaders have come to a conclusion, they are to drop a Super Bomb Nuclear device when it next appears. Regardless of the location." Princess Dawn says, extremly upset. The other ponies gasp and look at her and each other in shock.
"B-but that is how Godzilla first came into being. It wouldnt work a second time." Petri said. Princess Dawn looks at him angerly then she slams the table with her hands and get up and stares Petri down.
"DO YOU THINK I DO NOT KNOW THAT!? DO YOU NOT THINK I TRIED TO ARGUE AGAINST THE IDEA!? I DID EVERYTHING TO DISSUADE THE IDEA BUT I COULDNT! THEY ARE DEAD SET ON USING THE NUCLEAR BOMB EVEN THOUGH I PROTESTED AGAINST IT! I KNOW THE POWER AND EFFECT OF UEING THE BOMB! I WOULD NEVER, EVER, EVEN THINK ABOUT USING SUCH A HORRIDE WEAPON UNTIL ALL OPTIONS HAVE BEEN EXHAUSYED!" Princess Dawn yelled at Petri angerly as he takes a few steps back. After her speech there is a few seconds of silence as she regains composure.
"I-i understand princess. I apologize for my quick assumption." Petri said. Dawn calms down and sit back down.
"No. Im sorry for lashing out at you like that." Princess Dawn leans back in her chair and sighs. "However the notion still stands. It was deemed that as soon as Godzilla returns and sets foot on land, a G-54 Super Missile equiped with a J-45 warhead is to be launched from a submarine. The yeild is set to be no less than 2 megatons." Princess Dawn chokes up at the end and breaks out into tears. The room goes silent.
"Thats less than the megatonage than the test that created Godzilla. I have little confidence that it would work. And should the fireball and resulting blast wave not kill him, the nuclear fallout definitely wouldn't." Petri said and he takes a seat to think.
"A 2 megaton nuclear device is enough to make the entire Manehatten island uninhabitable and poison the surrounding land and water. And thats just Manehatten which is already destroyed. If it were to detonate in any other city then there mey be more damage than what Godzilla just caused." Superb said.
"I know." Dawn says with a huge sigh. "However that is the plan going forward. The submarine, REDNS Silent Hawk is to lauch the G-54 missile as soon as its confirmsd that Godzilla is coming ashore. The Equestrian leaders are using every resource to find and then track Godzilla. Unless a new plan is thought up of, this is what they are going with." Dawn says and looks at them. This gets Petri thinking and then suddenly pulls Summer and Superb away and into the next confrence room.
"Hey. Whats the deal Petri?" Superb asked, extremely confused.
"Shush. Listen. I have a friend in Ponyville, a scientist like me but way smarter. He has developed a new super weapon. One that has the portential to kill Godzilla." Petri said.
"A new super weapon? What kind of super weapon? What do you mean? How destructive is it?" Summer ask, confused.
"Its highly destructive. With the potential to destroy every being in Equestria. Thats the main reason he doesnt want to expose the weapon. But....given these circumstances, the nuclear super bomb probably wont harm Godzilla and will only do more damage to the city its dropped on rather than to Godzilla, i have to say that its a viable option." Petri said cautiously as he just broke his promise to Smart Flask. Superb looks at Petri with concern.
"How......destructive is this highly destructive option?" Superb asked still highly concerned. Petri looks at Superb nervously. Petri sighs and looks at Superb.
"Well.........he's worried that once revealed that the weapon is so revolutionary that it would spark a arms race for it. He states that the weapon is so destructive that it could have the possibility to destroy cities and towns. He even demonstrated the power of this weapon. The prototype he used was but the size of a golf ball and yet it turned an entire tank full of fish to bones in seconds. Think of the damage if it was the size of a volleyball or even a wreaking ball." Petri said in a combined scared and nervous voice.
"If what you say is true, then i can understand his fear. Indeed, if such a weapon exists the balance of power would definitely begin to shake and maybe even crumble. But.....with out it, Pony kinfd, Equestria, maybe the entire world could be destroyed by Godzilla." Superb said anxious.
"Without it, ot is most likely that we wont find a weapon that can destroy Godzilla before he destroys us all. We must convince him to use it." Summer said trying to be confident.
"Itll take a lot of convincing. He seem extremely adamant that he will NEVER show off the Oxygen Destroyer to the public. Even if it cost him his life." Petri said.
"Well, if Godzill continues to have his way then he WILL die. This way he may have a chance to stop the Oxygen Destroyer or even find a way to stop its effects if others take an intrest in building them for destructive purposes." Superb said gaining more confidence. Summer nods in agreement and Petri looks down in order to think.
"I guess your right. No, you arenboth correct. Without his device, of not Godzilla then the nuclear bombs will destroy the world. We have to stop them both. And the only thing that can do it is Flasks Oxygen Destroyer. We HAVE to convince him to use it." Petri said gaining the same confidence. With all three of them nodding in agreement they leave and heads to the airship and boards it.
"Where to?" One of the pegusus guards ask.
"To Ponyville please." Petri says. The pilot nods and the airship takes off. A few hours later the airship lands and the three ponies disembark.
"Thanks for the ride, we'll be back so dont go anywhere." Superb said to the pegasus guard.
"Understood sir." The pilot said. Superb and Summer follows Petri until they come up to Smart Flasks' house. Petri knocks on the door and rings the bell a few times. Soon Flask opens the door a bit and sees Petri.
"What do you want?" Flask asks still mad and disappointed at Petri.
"Look, I know i upset you the last time we met. However, the situation has become critical. Wee need your Oxygen Destroyer." Petri said in a humbled near begging voice.
"I already said i wont give it to you or anyone else. Now leave before you strain our friendship." Flask said demandingly.
"Then can you talk with all of us." Superb said and peeks over Petri.
"Who in Tartarus are you?" Flask said not trusting Superb.
"My name is Superb Article. I head up the Anti-Godzilla task force. We NEED your device. Just one. Please. I swear to you that no pony or race will begin development of the Oxygen Destroyer." Superb said pleadingly.
"I dont care if you were Princess Celestia herself, i will NOT give you my device. Good. Bye." Flask said and begins to close the door but Superb stops him and pushes on the door to keep it open and Flask pushes on the door to close it as a struggle breaks out over the door.
"Please! Wait! Hear me out! We need to talk! We need your device!" Superb yelled as he tries to keep Flask from closing his door.
"Never! I will never hand over the device! Not to anyone for any situation ! You will never get it! Now leave before I call the police and have you-" Flask yells back but is then cut off by Superb.
"THEIR PLANNING ON NUKING GODZILLA!!" Superb yelled at the top of his lungs. This causes the ponies nearby to look out and see what all the commotion is. Flask looks at Superb wide eyed and stops pushing on the door.
"What did you say?" Flask said a little confused and wanting confirmation. Superb relaxs a bit but still keeps pressure on the door.
"The leaders have decided that the next time Godzilla appears that he is to be nuked with a 2 megaton nuclear device. I know your a smart man. You know that the super weapon wont kill him right?" Superb said in a slightly sad voice.
"I see. Fine. I'll hear you out. Come inside." Flask says and relaxs and backs away and opens the door for them. Superb, Summer and Petri walk in and Flask closes the door. He takes them to the living room and the guests sit down while Flask gets drinks for everyone and returns and sets the drinks on the coffee table and sits across from the other ponies. "So, is it true that the Equestrian leaders are really going to nuke the creature? Princess Dawn would never agree to use such a device so early."
"You are right, Princess Dawn would never agree to it. However all of the other leaders have outvoted her. The plan is the next time that Godzilla appears, a G-54 missile will be launched with a 2 megaton J-45 warhead." Superb said as he takes a sip from his cup.
"If the warhead goes off it will leave the surrounding area, the size of a city, irradiated with radition. Itll be worse than if Godzilla attacked." Summer said.
"I see but forgive me for asking but who are you?" Flask asked Summer.
"Oh. Of course. Forgive me for the late introduction. I am Chief Song of Hope, but many ponies call me Summer Song. I was the chief of a island village where Godzilla was first spotted" Summer said.
"I see. I heard about your villages destruction on the news when they were covering the story of Godzilla this morning. Im sorry for your lose. My name is Smart Flask. Its very nice to meet you, thpugh i wish it were under better circumstances." Flask said.
"Indeed. It is nice to meet you." Summer said.
"Back to the matter at hand. We need your device, Smart." Petri said. Flask looks at Petri.
"I understand why you want it but it is still hard for me to say yes. The device is highly destructive and so far only works in water." Flask said and looks at them still worried.
"And you believe that by revealing the existence of the weapon that research will begin and soon not only will other races develop the Oxygen Destroyer, but will also improve it so it can be used in atmosphere environments and not just in water. And should they be unable to they would target you and maybe even those you love and force you to make them," Summer said in an soft and understanding voice.
"Correct. Petri saw what it did to a tank full of fish." Flask said.
"We know. Petri told us about your experiment with the fish. Truthfully we cannot blame you for not wanting to use the device. However, the situation is getting desperate. We may have to use your device." Superb said softly.
"Please. I need to understand why. Why you need the device this badly." Flask said.
"Well, we think Godzilla is sentient or near sentient and is out for revenge for what we did to him with the nuclear testing. We suspect he'll either take out all of pony kind or maybe all of Equestria. So far all conventional weapons are ineffective against Godzilla. Cannons, missiles, rockers, artillery, rifles, everything, they didnt even scratch him. Now a nuclear weapon is about to be used, one that is weaker than the one that was accidently used to mutate him. Its obvious that the missile wont even harm him. We NEED something else. We believe that the Oxygen Destroyer can do it as it is a chemical weapon, not a explosive or physical weapon like nukes or cannon rounds." Superb said. Flask remains silent for a bit, and looks down deep in thought. The three ponies wait and watch for his answer. After several of minutes Flask looks up and shakes his head.
"I still cannot give up the Oxygen Destroyer. Its power is still too much. We can find another way to destroy Godzilla. But i cannot give up the Oxygen Destroyer." Flask said a bit somberly. The three ponies look at him in surprise and disappointment.
"You.....you can NOT be serious Flask. If we dont use your device, lots of people will DIE!!!" Petri yelled out in anger.
"And if i reveal my device many MORE will die!! A few thousand will have to perish so that millions more can live! That is how the world works Petri, not every one will survive to see the next day!" Flask yells back angerly. The two ponies stare each other down. Finally Petri heads to Flasks television and turns it onto the news network covering Godzilla. It shows the destruction from last nights attack and the current death toll.
"Look at this Smart. Look. At. This. Long and hard. Just last night, four thousand two hundred eighty seven people perished. Not just ponies. Changlings died. Crystal ponies. Gryphons. Sea ponies. Hippogriffs. Yaks. Equestria came together last night to try and stop Godzilla. But it didnt work. They were killed. Slaughtered. Massacred. Now all of Manehatten is irradiated with radiation. Ponies will not be able to return for months. Maybe even years. And you want to let this horror to continue just so ypu dont have t reveal your device? By the time you decide that its time tp use it, Equestria will have been destroyed. All life living in it will have been wiped out. And you want to wair. Let those ponies suffer while you stay here and watch it all happen. What happened to the real Smart Flask that i knew? The one who wanted to make a huge difference in the world as a colt. The one that when he got his degree wanted to help the world and bring everlasting peace." Petri said in a saddened and hurt voice. Flask sat down and put his head in his hoodfs to think. Just then they heard singing. They all turn and look at the television where fillies, colts and youngsters from ever race are singing a song of hope and unity. Petri stares at the television and listen intently. After the song ends Flask looks down and sighs.
"If i hand over the Oxygen Destroyer, then there must be several conditions that have to be met in order to do so. This is non-negotiatable. Its either a 100% agreement or i will not hand over the Oxygen Destroyer. I will take it and disappear forever." Flask said a bit somberly. The other three ponies look at him.
"I swear to you, on my life, that the Equestrian leaders will agree. You have my word." Petri said, reassuringly.
"If they agree then i will create a Oxygen Destroyer powerful enough to take Godzilla out." Flask said.
"Thank you Smart Flask. Let us hurry and return to Canterlot Castle" Superb said with a small smile. The ponies stand and leave. Flask locks his door tightly with several locks and seals his entire house with his magic. The four ponies return to the airsship and the airship takes off and heads back to Canterlot. Once there the airship lands and the ponies hurry back to the Royal Confrence room where the other Anti-Godzilla task force learders are with Princess Dawn. The ponies loom up as the four other ponies enter the room. Princess Dawn looks at them furiously.
"Where have you four been!? We are in a state of emergency and you three disappear! Now you return with a stranger!? You all best explain yourselves immediately!" Princess Dawn yells furiously.
"With your permission Princess, we have brought back the solution to Godzilla that doesn't require a nuclear bomb." Superb said with a smile. The other ponies look at him confused. Superb, Summer, Petri and Flask sit down at the table and begins to introduce Smart and his project and the plan. Princess Dawn's anger slowly dissipates as she hears Flasks' story and the reason why he didn't want to reveal the existence of the Oxygen Destroyer.
"I see. And i can understand why you wouldn't want to come forward with this device. Your right, the destructive capabilities of this Oxygen Destroyer are immense and maybe infinite. I apologize for my outburst when you arrived." Princess Dawn said somberly.
"Its quite alright. You are under a lot of stress your majesty. Please pay your outburst with no mind. But as you said, the Oxygen Destroyer has perhaps infinite potential of destruction. That is why i want my conditions met with no arguments or compromises as this is device has the potential to wipe out everything." Flask said going from a soft voice to a demanding and strict voice.
"I understand. Please tell me your demands and ill make sure, with you present, that the Oxygen Destroyer will never be deployed again or development of another will be undertaken." Princess Dawn said.
"Thank you your majesty, you are truly a wise leader. My demands are simple: 1: Development or research into the Oxygen Destroyer will never be undertaken by any Empire, Kingdom, race or individual. 2: No video or pictures of the first and ONLY Oxygen Destroyer shall be taken. I do not mind reporters watching and writing about what they see. 3: I want an armed escort with me at all times, the Oxygen Destroyer is not to leave my sight and i am the ONLY one who handles the device. That is all." Flask said with a strict voice.
"I see. Your demands are quite reasonable and fair. I myself see no problems with your demands. I accept them but i cannot speak on the behalf of the other Equestrian leaders. Let me gather them back up and I'll make sure that they agree to these terms." Princess Dawn said.
"Thank you your majesty." Flask said. Princess Dawn immediately send her guards to round up all of the other Equestrian leaders after about an hour, the leaders have all reassembled. Princess Dawn and Flask begins to tell them about Flasks' plan and device. Upon them finishing, Princess Dawn summons a folder containg the terms. The Changeling King, Crystal Empire Princess, Yak Princess, and Hippogriff Queen immediately agree and sign their names on their respective lines. However, the Dragon Lord, Seapony Queen, and Griffon King, do not accept and do not sign. All the leaders look at them surprised and Flask looks at them with animosity.
"What ever for? This is a sound plan and his demands are completely sound and reasonable." Princess Liebe said.
"Reasonable? Maybe. But deploying a WMD that effects the very habitat that we seaponies require to survive is unacceptable. What if it damages the surroundings?" Queen Starlennium said quite angrily.
"And for the device to be unavailable after this is all finished is a complete waste of it potential. Think of the possibilities that it can gain us if utilized as a war deterrent." King Gridly of the Griffins said.
"I concur with King Gridly. We can not over look the potential of this weapon." Dragon Lord Flame said. Flask looks at Princess Dawn angrily. Princess Dawn swallows and looks at them the 3 opposing factions.
"Well, these are the demands its creator, Smart Flask, has given us. As we know, this device is the only true sure fire way of stopping Godzilla. The G-54 warhead will not stop him as Godzilla survived a warhead 7 times the yield of the G-54. Now please, agree the the terms." Princess Dawn said.
"And if we refuse?" The 3 leaders say and look at her sternly. Princess Dawn sighs and looks back at them just as sternly.
"Then i will have no choice but to expel you 3 from the Equestrian leaders council. As you 3 know, since you won't be on this council, then should something happen to your subjects or your lands we will not be able to provide aid. And if, by any chance, we discover any of you doing any activities that could jeopardize the well being of Equestria, then we, the council, WILL take military action against your governments. It would be in the best intrest for your subjects to agree now." Princess Dawn said and looks at them with a extremely stern look. The other council members agree and look at the 3 opposing factions. Gritting their teeth the 3 factions all reluctantly agree to the terms. As the last letter is written and the folder is passed back to Princess Dawn, she smiles and closes the folder.
"Thank you all for this. With that, we all agree to these terms and that once the threat is over, the research and development of Micro-oxygen weapons will never commence." Princess Dawn said. The leaders agree with the Dragon Lord, Griffin King and Seapony Queen agreeing with reluctance. Princess Dawn nods and looks to Flask.
"How long will it be for you to develop a Oxygen Destroyer to kill Godzilla?" Princess Dawn asks Flask.
"A day, maybe 2 at most." Flask answers with confidence.
"Excellent. Begin work right away. I will have a company of Royal Guards stationed around your lab ready to escourt you and the device to Fillydelphia for deployment on Cruiser REN Guidance." Princess Dawn says with confidence.
"Right away your majesty. Thank you." Flask, Petri, Summer and Superb all leave and head back to the airship as the council is dismissed and the leaders leave. After a few hours, the 4 ponies arrive back at Ponyville and head into Flasks' house.
"Will it really take you a day or 2 for you to create a Oxygen Destroyer large enough to kill Godzilla?" Superb asked.
"Well, from the size of the creature that i saw and what was given to me on the estimations, its about 50 meters tall and about 20,000 metric tons." Flask talks as he leads the 3 other ponies to his lab in the basement and flicks on the light on to the lab. "Based on these calculations his body is about the same size as 13.5 Equestria Games swimming pools. Meaning the total volume of water the Oxygen Destroyer would have to deoxygenate a volume of at least 9 million gallons of water. This is easy in a pool or lake, but in the ocean where the Micro-oxygen can dissipate and spread more easier, the device will have to be bigger."
"How in all of Equestria and Tartarus did you come up with these conclusions?" Superb ask, completely flabbergasted as he stops at the edge of the steps and then catches up with the followers. The 3 guest ponies stop at the first table as Smart continues on and begins to gather materials.
"Easy. Godzillas' height and width of his body are about the same size as a EG swimming pool which is 50 by 25 meters. We can also assume his body length is most likely 25 meters as well. Each EG swimming pool is 50 X 25 X 2 meters with a volume of 660,000 [US] gallons. With these calculations for his body alone we would need to fill deoxygenate a volume of 31,250 meters cubed which equals to 8,255,375 gallons of water. His tail is also 50 meters long and, at the base, 2 meters in diameter. We just neet to add another EG swimming pool size which brings us to 8,915,375 gallons of water. I just rounded to the nearest million. Thus the size of the device will have to be no less than the size of a grape fruit." Flask answers with confidence. Superb and Summer look at him is complete awe and are completely flabbergasted. Petri just smiles as he knows Flask is a walking supercomputer.
"A-and your sure this will kill Godzilla? I mean the amount and size needed to destroy Godzilla." Superb asks still in awe.
"I am sure. I've run the calculations over and over in my head since we left Canterlot castle." Flask said with confidence. Nodding, Superb smiles a little.
"You are our last hope Smart Flask. Not just us or the Equestrian Leaders, but the entire continent, no, the entire world, is depending on you." Superb said and smiles. Flask looks at him and smiles.
"Hee. No pressure huh? Thanks Superb. Ill do my best. Itll take some time so please, make your self at home and help yourself to anything in my house." Flask says and smiles back at them then turns away and the smile disappears as soon as his face is hidden. The three guest ponies leave to allow Flask to work in piece.
As Flask works Superb, Summer and Petri take turns running task for Flask. From getting him the necessary beaker to bringing him food and drinks. Flask works through the night and only sleeps when he puts the first batch of chemicals into automatic tumblers. He falls asleep at the tumbler table with his head on the table. Summer puts a blanket around him and lifts his head up and puts his head on a pillow then heads up to sleep. In the morning, Flask resumes his work and the other ponies help. Late that afternoon Summer, Superb and Petri are upstairs when they all smell smoke coming from the basement. Frightened that Flask maybe in trouble they all run down to rescue him only to discover that the basement isn't on fire and that Flask is burning papers and folders. The 3 ponies walk over to him to see what's going on.
"Flask. What has happened? What are you doing? Wait, aren't those your research notes?" Petri asks as he gets a look at the papers Flask is burning with a bunsen burner.
"They are. This way no one can get ahold of my research. All documents and knowledge will be destroyed so they can't be stolen or copied." Flask says somberly as he lights another folder. The 3 ponies look at him and nod in an understanding way.
"Then i suppose the Oxygen Destroyer is complete?" Superb asks.
"Indeed it is. The Oxygen Destroyer is inside that capsule for safe keeping. Do not touch it. I will handle it." Flask says in a warning voice. The 3 ponies look to their right and see on a table a long capsule. The main body is a glass chamber with 4 metal rods connecting it with the metal half ball ends. Inside the glass chamber is a metallic sphere a little bigger than a grape fruit, a seam is cut down the middle and thick metal rods connect the 2 sphere halves, keeping them in place.
"Of course and we understand. Let us help you burn this stuff." Superb says and begin to help him with Summer and Petri soon also joining in to help.
"Thank you all." Flask says and all 4 of them continue to burn Flasks research notes. Soon all the papers are burned to ash and Petri turns the bunsen burner out.
"Right. So, with all of the documents gone, were all set to leave right?" Superb asked Flask and Flask nods walking over to the Oxygen Destroyers' table and seals the main capsule into a bigger, secondary capsule. Flask then walks over to a saddle hanger and using his magic to put the saddle on. The saddle has 2 U-shaped prongs are lined up in a row and have 4 notches in them that match 4 nubs on the Oxygen Destroyers' outer capsule. Placing the Oxygen Destroyers' capsule onto the prongs, the capsule clicks onto the prongs so it doesn't fall off.
"There. Now, lets go. We have a continent to save." Flask says with confidence. The three other ponies smile at him and nods and all four of them walk upstairs and up to the door. As soon as the door is opened, they are by a company of Royal Guard Ponies who salute them. The light blue stallion with a doted outline of a spear and the biggest helmet crest walks up to them.
"Good afternoon sirs and madam. I am Captain Stealth Spear. I will be your guard for your travels. We all thank you for your tireless work." The stallion says.
"Thank you very much captain. I am Smart Flask. Are the Equestrian leaders ready for us?" Flask walks up to him and gives a small smile.
"They are awaiting my letter and then they will meet is in Fillydelphia. The cruiser is already in the harbor awaiting us. Teams are out trying to locate Godzilla." Spear said and then stepped aside to let the 4 ponies through. Nodding Flask, Summer, Superb, and Petri begin to walk, Spear teleports the letters to the Equestrian leaders and the guard ponies surround them as they return to the airship. They board the airship and find their seats and the airship takes off. It travels through the night. The ponies take turns sleeping along the way. They arrive as the sun is just peaking over the horizon as Princess Dawn is raising the sun and lowering the moon. The airship lands and the door opens and the ponies disembark and head to the harbor's main wharf where the cruiser, REN Guidance is moored along the wharf. The royal guard ponies escort Summer, Flask, Super and Petri to the ship where all the leaders of Equestria and several reporter ponies have gathered on deck.
"Good morning you 4. I assume that capsule on your back is the Oxygen Destroyer?" Princess Dawn asks as the 4 ponies climb up and stops when they come up to the Equestrian leaders. Flask backs up a step and uses his magic to pull the capsule off his back and opens the outer capsule just enough to reveal the metal sphere inside. The leaders lean in take a closer look.
"This thing is the Oxygen Destroyer? Are you joking with me? It looks like a metal softball." Flame, the Dragon Lord says.
"With in this 'metal softball' is a chemical that will deoxygenate a volume of water equal to 15 million gallons of water." Flask says. The leaders gasp and lean in more but Flask closes the capsule on them and holsters the capsule on his back again.
"Has the creature been found yet?" Flask asks. Princess Dawn nods.
"Search squad Charlie found him in Horseshoe Bay a few hours ago. Apparently its a asleep as Godzilla hasn't moved from the spot since." Princess Dawn says and signals to the crew to make ready to leave.
"Thank you. Ill be on the bow if you need me." Flask says and begins to walk up to the bow of the ship. Sailor ponies are running around prepping the ship to leave. The others go their separate ways. Some of them go down into the hull while others stay on deck and out of the way of the sailors. The ship soon leaves port and heads towards Horseshoe Bay. Just as the ship exits the harbor, Summer, Superb and Petri come up to Flask on the bow and sit with him.
"You've got a lot on your mind, don't you?" Petri says.
"I'm carrying a WMD on my back and a bunch of power hungry leaders just behind me that want it. Of course i have a lot on my mind." Flask says a bit snappish.
"We've known each other since we were colts Smart. I know when you have a lot on your mind and become snappish when you have A LOT on your mind. There's more isn't there?" Petri says and looks at Flask with concern. Summer and Superb look at each other then back at them worriedly.
"I'm deploying this WMD. What do you expect? I'm not happy and completely on edge on deploying it. I just pray and hope that afterwards, the leaders keep their promises." Flask says worryingly.
"We'll make sure of it. Won't we buddy?" Petri said and smiles at Flask, holding his hoof out. Flask looks at him then looks down and smiles and looks back and bump hooves.
"Yeah. We will buddy." Flask says softly but with confidence. Summer and Superb smile and joins them.
"We will too." Superb and Summer say together.
"As do we." 2 other voices say behind them. The ponies turn and see Dr. Peter Paleo and Prof. Robust Chemicals.
"Peter. Robust. You 2 are here too?" Superb asked surprised.
"Of course we are. We're part of the Anti-Godzilla Task Force after all." Peter said.
"And we're all friends right? Including Smart." Robust added. The 4 ponies smiles and nod at them and turn around as Peter and Robust walk over, the 6 of them forming a circle.
"Friends till the end." They all say together and laugh as they begin to talk as the ship continues on onto Horseshoe Bay. A few hours pass and the ship soon enters Horseshoe Bay. The cruiser pulls along side the smaller Anti-submarine ships that were tracking Godzilla. Flask walks to the railing and the captain of the ship comes out.
"Is he still below?" Flasks asks.
"Aye. He is. Seems to be asleep still." The captain answers.
"Thank you." Flask says and heads to mid ship. The Equestrian Leaders come out to watch.
"So, how are you going to deploy your 'Oxygen Destroyer'? Queen Starlennium said mockingly. Flame and Gridly snicker with her. The other Equestrian Leaders, Summer, Petri, Peter, and Robust shoot mean looks at them to shut them up. Flask ignores them.
"How else. The most reliable way." Flask says and much to the surprise of everyone, he summons a deep diving scuba suit. "Manually and up close." Flask begins to put the suit on much to the astonishment of everyone.
"You. You must be joking. That's suicide. " Queen Starlennium says in astonishment.
"I'm a unicorn. I can teleport back." Flask says.
"Well you aren't going alone. I'm coming with." Flask turns around and sees Petri also putting on a scuba suit.
"No no. Your not coming too." Flask says with concern.
"Hey. I'm a scientist like you and besides, if you get in trouble, who's gonna deploy the Oxygen Destroyer since only you know how to deploy it." Petri said with a smile. Flask looks down to think for a bit then looks back at Petri.
"Fine. But once we reach the deployment zone, you will immediately return to the surface with ZERO questions. Got it?" Flask strictly says to Petri.
"Understood." Petri answers. Flask nods and the 2 ponies continue putting on the their diving suits. After they put their diving suits on Flask uses his magic to open the outer capsule and pulls the main capsule out. The leaders stare at the new capsule housing the Oxygen Destroyer. The reporter ponies begin to write everything down. After doing a radio check with the ship they jump in and head down. A rope trails behind them for a safety line. Flask uses his magic to bring the Oxygen Destroyer. Petri and Flask decends into the darkness. They activate their flashlights as they near the sea floor. They reach the silt floor.
"Sea floor reached. Approaching the deployment zone now." Flask says over the radio to the the ship.
"Copy that. Becareful down there." Princess Dawn says. Flask and Petri continue on and soon spot Godzilla still asleep. Flask swallows hard as he stares at Godzilla and looks at Petri. Petri looks back with a nervous face too but takes a deep breath and nods with a look of confidence. Flask does the same and nods and they continue to walk towards Godzilla. Soon their right next to him. Petri looks at Flask and Flask nods and radios both Petri and the ship.
"Ok. Deployment zone reached. On my count, Petri and I will teleport back and ill activate the device. Ready?" Flask says.
"Ready." Petri and the ponies on the ship say.
"Ok. When i say go. Got it?" Flask says.
"Got it." Petri says.
"Right. 3...." Flask begins and moves the device up.
"2....." Flask takes the switches off safety.
"1......" Flasks' and Petris' horns glow with magic and a magical aura surrounds them.
"GO!" They both cast their spells. Petri is immediately teleported back to the ship while Flask casts an Anti-teleportation spell on him and cuts the safety rope as he sets the device off. Water rushes into the the glass chamber and the metal sphere separates. Immediately a ton of bubbles begin to shoot into the water and float up. On the surface, Petri was teleported back onto the ship. He takes off his mask and flipper then looks around and doesn't see Flask.
"Where's Flask?" Petri asks.
"He was with you. Didn't he teleport back?" Superb said. He looks at Superb shocked and horrified then runs to the radio and grabs the microphone with his magic.
"Flask!! Are you there?! What in Tartarus are you doing?! Get back here now!" Petri yells into the microphone.
"I'm sorry Petri. But i can't. I have to stay." Flask says back.
"Are you insane!? Fine! I'm summoning you back!" Petri yells and fires a spell. A magic aura appears on the deck, behind the radio. The aura goes splat as Flask doesn't appear.
"Apologies my friend. But what i cast wasn't a teleporting spell. It was a anti-summoning spell." Flask said in a sad and monotone voice.
"What? But.....why?" Petri said as he begins to cry.
"This is the only way to protect the secrets of the Oxygen Destroyer. With all my papers and documents gone, now no one can get it from me." Flask said.
"Y-your.......really going to stay down there?" Petri said sadly as others begin to tear up and watch the radio.
"I have to. This is the only way to guarantee that all the information on the Oxygen Destroyer is destroyed. I'm sorry. It's been fun. I had always wanted to grow old with you buddy. Looks like I'll be going on ahead of you." Flask says as he tries to hold back his tears.
"You better reserve a spot at the bar up there for me buddy." Petri says as he wipes his tears and the bubbles begin to make the water boil and Godzilla wakes up and roars under the water.
"Hee. Ill be watching over you all. Have a merry life everyone. Live it to the fullest. This is Professor Smart Flask, saying goodbye." Flask says and cuts the radio transmission. He watches as Godzilla stands up in pain and thrashes. He smiles and sets the Oxygen Destroyer capsule down and watches as the bubbles surround him and feels the bubbles taking effect on his body. "Live it up everyone. And ill be reserving seats for everyone." Flask closes his eyes as the bubbles consume him.
The bubbles begin to consume Godzilla. Slowly his flesh begins to dissolve. It stands up fully and breeches the surface. The water all around it boils. All the leaders and ponies turn around and see it. Godzilla lets out an ear piercing roar of pain. The leaders and ponies watch in horror as they can see the flesh of Godzilla literally dissolving off his body and disintegrating into nothing. With Godzilla's legs dissolved to bone it collapses and falls back under the water. Godzilla lets out one last feeble roar as the rest of his body dissolves. The bones falls to the sea floor as the last of its flesh dissolves off. The roar lingers then disappears as the bones settle on the bay floor. The boiling water subsides and bubbles stop. All that's left of the once great monster known as Godzilla is a pile of bones. Near by Flasks' air tank, mask, fins and suit lay on the sea floor with the mask looking upwards and towards the REN Guidance.
On the ship every being looks to the water as the water settles. The sonar operator looks at his monitor and listen in on his hydrophones.
"Nothing. Nothing. No sounds. Nothing on sonar. Its like a void is down there. There........nothing. I can't even hear a fish." He says. The silence on the ship remains as the crew, leaders and the anti-Godzilla team remain silent. Finally, Princess Dawn speaks up first.
"My friends. Godzilla is dead. We all swore to never again research the Oxygen Destroyer. This was, and still is, Professor Smart Flasks' last wish. A wish we all swore and signed on. Let us remember him by never again creating such a devastating weapon." Princess Dawn says. All the Equestrian Leaders nod and agree, even Queen Starlennium, Dragon Lord Flame, and King Gridly. They all salute to Flask. After a minute Summer looks at Superb, a bit hesitant to say anything but then she takes a deep breath and looks at him.
"So, with Godzilla gone and the Oxygen Destroyer unleashed, what's going to happen now?" Summer says. Everyone looks at her then to Superb as he lowers his hoof and continues to look out to the bay.
"We learn from this. We learn from it and make sure that this never happens again. We created Godzilla through our abuse of nuclear weapons. We must never let that happen again. We unleashed a even worse super weapon to stop Godzilla. If any more of these creatures ever show up, we must find a different way to stop them than unleashing a super weapon." Superb said as he turns and heads to the stern and looks out to the open sea. "We made a huge mistake. A mistake that has cost us friends and family. We created a super weapon that created a monster, no a giant monster......a Kaiju."
"Kaiju?" Princess Liebe asks.
"The ancient word for Godzilla. They believed that Godzilla and Kaiju were just myths, fantasy, and ancient text. They never expected that one would exist. And the only reason it existed was because we created it. We must never allow that to happen. In honor of Smart Flask." Superb said and turns around. The leaders agree and nod to each other. Summer walks over to Superb. Superb turns around to look at the stern again and towards the horizon.
"You think there are still more Kaiju out there?" Summer asks worried.
"I don't know anymore. This whole experience. Godzilla., the Oxygen Destroyer, Flasks sacrifice. I don't know." Superb says softly and Summer looks down in disappointment and fear. "But what i do know is if their are more Kaiju out there, we need to be ready for them." Superb says confidently. Summer looks at him and smiles.
"We will." Summer says. Peter, Petri, and Robust walk up to them.
"Together." All 5 of them say together. They all look out to the horizon of the sea. Deep below the surface, the silt moves and causes Flasks' mask to move and look in the same direction as the other 5 ponies were staring in and the mouth piece of the breather make it look like the mask has a smile.
