> Titans of Equestria > by Blue Sphere Writing > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > A New Discovery > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Something was off about the waters today, Silverstream could sense it swimming. She wasn't the only one, most of the seaponies were confused by the odd disturbance. Even fewer were claiming to have seen what they described as a moving mountain, but mountains can't move. Unless mountains on land could move, could they, was it some sort of land contraption, is it even real, or is it just a made up prank? Silverstream continued to overthink these questions as she swam further and further into nowhere. She finally came up to a massive trench, peering down into it she saw nothing of interest. Turning to swim back home, she heard something. It sounded like a growl echoing from the bottom of the trench, Silverstream quickly swam back over staring back into the trench. Now there was a bright blue glow pulsating in the dark, slowly it began creeping upward towards the top. A high pitched roar bellowed from the blue light, causing Silverstream cover her ears. She turned and immediately started swimming back towards Seaquestria, knowing that whatever that creature was, it wasn't natural. The Crystal Empire didn't seem that bad, it was colorful, everyone was nice, and best of all Gallus got to meet an actual princess. Twilight might be the Princess of Friendship and all, but she doesn't rule her own kingdom. And who knew Spike was so popular here? Well, a lot of people actually, but that didn't really matter. There was one weird thing about this place though, the storm looming over the Crystal Mountains. It was brewing over them when Gallus had made it there on the train, and had been there for the few days they had stayed. The weird thing about it was that it wasn't just a snow storm, it was a thunderstorm, almost a hurricane, and it wasn't moving. It stayed in the same spot, getting larger and larger each day, no magic holding it down or anything. How bad could a little storm be though? If it did start moving towards the empire, the professors would just cancel the trip and we'd be on our way back. Active volcanoes tend to give a little earthquake now and then, but never this much. Cracks in the mountain appearing more frequently, the quakes getting more and more aggressive each day, something was up. Most of the other dragons didn't pay much mind, Smolder had tried to tell Ember, but she didn't care either. Nothing was in the lava, if there was, it wasn't bursting out of the lava, so why should anyone care. They were dragons, they could handle pretty much anything. Did they have a real plan, no, all they were gonna do is breath fire at it until it either dies or retreats. Smolder saw nothing like that working since whatever it was, it lived in a volcano so fire shouldn't hurt it. If or when it comes out of the volcano, it was gonna be a bad time for everyone. Thorax was extremely worried, some of the workers had discovered a massive egg in a cave, and it was getting ready to hatch. He had been pacing around his throne room, trying to think of a way to deal with this situation. Ocellus was walking through the massive crowd gathered around the entrance to the cave. When she squeezed to the front of the crowd as a tiny bug, she saw the egg. It was nothing like what she heard, it wasn't just any egg. Just by looking at it she could tell it was soft and squishy, with whatever inside it visibly moving around on the inside. It emanated a blue glow, but it started fading. Everyone was thinking the worst, the egg was going to hatch, and the hive was going to be destroyed by whatever was inside it. The top of the egg slowly began to split open as an insectoid creature emerged from the inside. It was light brown, with a caterpillar like body, and small crystal blue eyes. It scanned the surrounding area, seeming to take note of the crowd. It made a chirping sound at the changelings, making most of them back away in fear. Finally Thorax flew down getting a good look at the creature. He was immediately showered in questions about what he was going to do about this. He whispered something his assistant and flew off. Occelus, out of curiosity followed, transforming back into a bug. "Twilight! This is important! It's form Thorax!" Spike called, holding a new scroll in his hand. Twilight quickly took the scroll from Spike, reading it over quickly. She called over Applejack and Fluttershy, and all of them had a concerned look. Twilight and Fluttershy began flying towards the train station. "Professor Applejack, you know where they're heading?" Gallus had asked, "We haven't even been here a full week, why are they running off so soon?" "I don't exactly know, Thorax just said some new huge creature was discovered in their hive, so Twilight and Fluttershy are off to see what it is," the orange mare replied. "Wait, isn't Ocellus at the hive? What happens if something goes wrong? Can I go with them?" "It's always the tough ones who care the most. Gallus listen, I'd say yes but ultimately it's up to Twilight." "Well if you excuse me I have to catch up with her before she gets to the train." "Good luck, don't get yourself into trouble, that's the last thing we need right now," Applejack said turning to the storm. > Emergence > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "When did they find it?" Gallus asked. "They were just searching for an entrance to the cave. Then a few days later it hatched into that, and we still have no clue what it is. I still think its actually kind of cool!" Ocellus responded. "I don't trust it. Silverstream sent a letter about some giant ocean creature, and Smolder is talking about something inside a volcano in the dragon lands. Not to mention the weird storm in the Crystal Mountains." "Well that seems a little suspicious, but as of now nobody knows anything about what's going on." "Hopefully it doesn't stay that way." Silverstream had no idea what it was, but it was terrifying. Queen Novo had put up a magic barrier to keep it out, but no one was sure if it would work. It had been swimming in circles for the past few days, no real intention to attack. That was lucky because their navy had proved to do nothing to the creature. It had what looked like dorsal fins on its back, but they weren't like any Silverstream had seen before. They were almost maple leaf shaped, and glowing, obviously it was the moving mountain she'd heard about. Slowly the glow faded, leaving only the pitch black of the ocean. It growled as it turned and swam away towards the surface. Messengers were already on their way to the surface to warn them of what was about to happen. Something was coming out of the volcano, what sounded like squawking was coming from inside, the earthquakes were almost nonstop, huge cracks were forming letting lava leak out, and now other dragons were getting worried. Smolder was sitting in the outskirts of the dragon lands, watching as the others hopelessly dove in and out of the lava to try and see what was inside. That's when it happened, the top of the volcano exploded open. A giant wing reached out before grabbing the outside of the volcano. It was soon followed by another wing, dragging what looked like a giant phoenix out of a volcano. But it couldn't be. For one, phoenixes can't grow that large, and two phoenixes are either always on fire or looked like it was dying. This thing looked like an eagle with skin made of hardened rock. Once it had pulled itself out of the volcano, it stood on two short legs, its talons gripping the edge of the volcano. Scanning the area, it didn't take note of the dragons, not even the ones breathing the fire at it. It flapped its wings once sending a massive gust of wind, beginning to glide. The wind generating under its wings blew away everything caught under them. It wasn't flying aimlessly though, it was flying towards the sea. "Princesses, we have no clue what it is, where it came from, or its intentions," Queen Novo said. "There's also the storm growing in the Crystal Mountains," Cadence added. "Currently the insectoid in the Changeling Hive is still active, but it seems to be getting ready to cocoon," Twilight stated. "And we now have news of a new giant creature emerging in the Dragon Lands," Celestia continued, "This can't really be a coincidence. We might be seeing the emergence of ancient super-species across Equestria. They seem to be ignoring us and are on their own path to collide with each other. What they intend to do when they meet is unknown, where they came from is unknown, but we might be able to find out how to prevent more disasters from occurring if we can find a way to stop them. As of now our top priority is luring the sea creature and flying creature away from any civilized areas, the insectoid currently shows no signs of harm so we shall allow it to remain if Thorax chooses." "With all do respect Princess, how will we be able to divert them populated areas?" Twilight asked. "So we're calling it Radon, or Rodan, and it's what? Heading for that sea creature? Twilight you're going way to fast, I can't keep up." Starlight said. "Look, Rodan, the fire bird from the dragon lands, is flying towards Godzilla, the sea creature. They're supposed to collide with each other in Manehattan. Our job is to evacuate the city before they get there, simple enough, its not like we're trying to evacuate one of if not the biggest cities in Equestria, right?" Twilight ranted on, "Starlight, I called you here because you're the best replacement for me. I would be down there helping you and the others, but I have to work with the other leaders to keep everything else in check. I know its a lot to take in, but I trust you and the others can handle it. Good luck Starlight." Starlight nodded as Twilight flew off. She stepped on the train, now it was only her and her thoughts. Those two things were about to show up in probably the largest and most populated areas on the planet, and what they were going to do was a mystery. Would they team up and destroy the city, go fight another monster? Or would they just fight? If they do why? Is it instinctual, or a rivalry? Are they more sentient than we know? What if we could communicate with them? So many questions, way to little time. "Rodan is arriving in 10 minutes! We need to get those trains across that bridge now!" Applejack called out. The evacuation had been going smoothly until Spike had delivered the revelation. Most of the trains were almost fully loaded, so they were trying to get the last few ponies on board before they left. Now the real panic settled in. The doors were broken open, the station soon flooded with panicked civilians. Outside they all heard one, roar, and time seemed to freeze.
