SPOILERS FOR ALL EPISODES OF SEASON 9:


Back when i was a small little buck, I grew up with the most powerful sorceress of that bygone era. 
(More powerful than Celestia or Star Swirl... even more powerful than me.) 
Her name was Lucena The Emerald Hearted Enchantress. She taught me hundreds upon thousands of spells. She taught me Necromancy and Sorcery She taught me everything she ever knew. Soon after i had accomplished most spells of that age, I was extremely powerful. Yet somehow Lucena was more powerful than me. I grew envious and impatient, I began to hire spies to find out what Lucena's secret was, then after years of waiting in the shadows and listening I found out. 

Lucena was ancient, she was nearly as old as the earth itself. I found out the reason for this is that she has a spell which would allow the user to keep their most potent and powerful magic in an item, however it came at a terrible price. It wouldn't just take your magic... it would also take your soul. It would make you bound to that item, without it you would grow weak. For Lucena the item was her ruby necklace. Since Lucena always kept the item around her neck she was always fully powered.  I snuck into her room that very night, stole the spell. And i also stole the necklace from Lucena.

I went back to my room and spent hours figuring out how to use the spell. I eventually figured it out but i was unable to use Lucenas necklace as it was already bound to her. The next morning i was awoken with a scream. Lucena burst into my room she started yelling, demanding i tell her where her necklace was. I picked up the necklace with my magic and was about to hand it over. But just before i did. I used all my magical strength to crush the necklace. It didn't take as much strength as i thought. And once the necklace was destroyed Lucena turned into a pile of ash. Finally i had killed my mentor.

At this point I was the most powerful creature on the planet and I intended to keep it that way. I finished the spell and chose my item. An old bell Lucena had kept in her quarters. I called it "The Bewitching Bell." I destroyed the spell ensuring that I and I alone would have this ability. Then i rose a great army made of all the able bodied ponies i could find. Then i transformed the whole nation into a great Empire i named it Tambelon. I was Emperor of all under the sky.

Every Pony was frightened, Miserable it was such happy times for me. The more fear they had the stronger i became. I became 10 times more powerful than my former self. However I decided to not wear my item all the time like my foolish mentor. i decided to create a vault to keep it in. After weeks my uncrackable vault was completed.
(That vault would one day be used by Princess Celestia to keep the Elements of Harmony)

Meanwhile I studied some of the spells that Lucena and i never got around to. One of them was creating monsters. 
However this spell required a sacrifice. I couldn't just create a monster out of nothing i needed to create new life from rotting flesh and dead souls. luckily under my rule there was plenty of death in my Empire. For example the very first monster i ever created was a mix between a fly and a spider. It had the ability to fly, bite, and spin webs. I named this peculiar species a Fly-der. 






After that i grew a knack of making monsters soon gaining the name "Father"
I created hundreds of them including;
Cragadiles
Cockatrice's 
Chimmera's 
bug bears 
and many, many more.

Usually after making them i would take them to my Magic Mirror Pool. I would replicate my monsters. And soon after let them lose on the world. They would take, destroy and spread like a disease. It was a glorious epoch.

Soon however i became lonely... i required some other being to spend time with. So i took in a young Donkey named Bray. Raised him to be my second in command and he became a loyal servant. 



Years later a rebellious group of ponies led by an extremely powerful yet self righteous unicorn named Gusty decided to stand against me. The war lasted many years. And there were loses on both sides. Gusty even took a page out of my book and sent in spies to see how i was so powerful. She found out about the bell and hatched a plan. Gusty ordered her own loyal apprentice 
(a young gray unicorn named Star) to lead her army to attack me from the front. And i decided to get my bell out of my vault and go out there and fight too. (As i was tired of continuing this war. Especially when my victory was inevitable.) So i destroyed and defeating the entire army only letting the young Star leave like  the coward i believed him to be.

When i returned and took off my bell, i returned it to my vault. However Gusty was already inside the vault and she took my bell and escaped my capital. 

She ran as far away as she could. Only stopping when she reached Mt Everhoof. She climbed all the way to the tippy top where she found a cave. And placed the bell there. However she also depowered my bell. She placed a powerful hex on it and made several obstacles for anypony who dared to reach the top to face. Including her specialty; making powerful hurricane like winds so no pony could reach the top. She also placed a sentinel on the mountain to prevent anyone reaching the cave. She then wrote down the way to repower my bell in a book which she gave to her Apprentice Star to keep safe. After that she sought help from some of her allies including the hippogriff's to end my reign once and for all. They attacked me and my army full force. I fought them off as long as i could but unfortunately i was outmatched. But before i left i did one last spell.
(i was actually a little shocked i still had enough magic to pull it off.) But i managed to stop the sun from rising and left the moon in the sky. Making it so that the sun and moon would never again be able to move themselves and while it was dark I escaped and left. I never saw Bray again.... i'm not even sure what happened to him. 

I retreated to where Lucena and i lived. An old palace in the shape of a skull that over the decades had become surrounded by a swamp. Luckily there was still my old stuff there. Including my old Necromancy books. I also created an all seeing crystal orb. 
(Which i simply named a Palantir.)

I watched as my once great and fear soaked Empire was destroyed and rebuilt as a glorious kingdom full of free and happy ponies. It was a Utopia for those Equines So they renamed it Equestria. They replaced my fear with their wonder and light. Also Gusty had made up lies and fairy tales to keep me out of ponies minds, Every pony wrote me off as just a bad dream. She created the holiday of Hearthswarming and the story of how Unicorns Earth Ponies and Pegasi found Equestria together. and every pony regarded her as "Gusty the Great."

And her apprentice Star used all the magic he could to try to move the sun and moon but he wasn't powerful enough. It would take a full team of the strongest Unicorns to move them. 

Gusty also gave birth to two Unicorns
one was White with a pink mane. Named Tia.
The other was dark blue and had a blue mane. Named Lulu.

When they were old enough they managed to move the sun and the moon easily. BY THEMSELVES.
For doing this they both sprouted wings and became a new species of Pony named Alicorn.
Their bodies also went through a change. 
The white ponies mane changed to the colors of the aurora 
And the blue ponies mane was filled with the twinkling of the stars.
They became the Princesses of Equestria. Renaming themselves Celestia and Luna
Gusty died shortly after.

Star Swirl grew up to be a famous wizard.
And tutored the Alicorn sisters. 
Until he was confronted by a young pony named Stgyian who requested that he come with him of be part of a team to stop my leftover monsters. Including their famous banishment of my sirens.

Then they fought against a centaur named Tirek with the help of his brother Scorpan.

but then Star Swirl and the rest of the pillars misunderstood that Stygian wanted to be a part of the world saving team too. And so Stygian left and found one of my old cisterns underneath Hollow Shades called The Well of Shades.
The embodiment of shadows infested Stygian and battled Star Swirl and the Pillars. But they left behind a seed to grow into a  Tree which would have a protective force to keep me and my monsters from conquering the Nation. And the fight with the Pony of Shadows banished them all to Limbo.

With the old protectors out of the way and the young and inexperienced Princess's ruling the kingdom i decided to create a harbinger of destruction and chaos, An apocalyptic monster that would be given powers far exceeding that of those two usurpers.

So I went out on an adventure along the way picking up several carcasses. 
including; an earth pony, a deer, a snake, a lion, an eagle, a lizard, a bat, a Pegasus and even a dragon.
I also gave him a part of my own flesh which would also grant him a portion of my own infinite power.
I made something.... chaotic.
I named him a Draconequus.
He named himself Discord
He became the spirit of disharmony.

He caused unrest and unhappiness throughout Equestria. Celestia and her sister Luna rose up against Discord and used the Elements of Harmony that the pillars left behind in the tree of harmony to turn him to stone. 
Then they fought against King Sombra and defeated him. However Sombra took the entire Crystal Empire with him. 
And finally in the ultimate battle Celestia had to banish Luna AKA Nightmare Moon to the actual Moon.


But after that i decided to quietly assist my villainous friends without showing my help of course. I did it all discreetly. 
I released Nightmare Moon from her prison during the Summer Sun Celebration. 
I put a spell on some fillies who were taking a field trip in Canterlots menagerie and made them argue in Discords presence releasing him from his stone imprisonment. 
I assisted Tirek in freeing him from Tartarus the first time. Similarly to how i did the second time. But of course i left him to his own devices to see what kind of trouble he could cause.
I sent a message to that little Changeling Queen to invade Canterlot during the Royal Wedding. I wanted to see if she could become the Princess of an area that would be strategically useful for my ultimate Endgame. 
I also manipulated a little pink Unicorn into becoming the ruler of an entire town with a morally lucid ideology. I later planned to groom her to spread her ideology all across Equestria and become the ruler of Equestria.

But one by one each and every one of them either failed or betrayed me.

So i finally decided to work together.
(Or as best we can)
To finally defeat all those Ponies who stand in my way.

Granted there have been some predictable side effects like my trio of heinous villains lying to me about retrieving my bell.
And they went to find the book Gusty wrote in which had the way to repower my bell from Canterlots secret library.

But all of this has been quite useful to me.

And soon my grand Endgame will come to fruition.

And when i rule over Equestria once more.
When Twilight and her friends are defeated and understand the full scope of their failure.

THE MAGIC OF FRIENDSHIP WILL BE WORTH NOTHING AT ALL!!!
