Most people have scars, no one more then Sunset Shimmer and Twilight Sparkle and this is their Story.
Twilight is still suffering effects from when she turned into Midnight Sparkle and cant find a way to put her past behind her. Its stopping her from moving forward in her life, stopping her from asking Sunset out, stopping her from being herself. She's living her life in fear. Sunset knows what Twilight is dealing with and maybe she can help her see the light that everyone see's in her.
The students we're at camp after raising money a lot of money for charity and they had just gathered around a campfire telling scary stories and are now on their way back to their tents. It was cool and warm night at the camp, Sunset was heading back but as she looked up at the sky, she could see all stars twinkling away in pitch black. This caused Sunset to sigh as she wished she was able to see the stars like that back home. Sunset reached her tent and pulled the back flap and walked in to find Twilight's back was to her as she took off her shirt. She could see scars underneath Twilight's bra strap. Two large scar lines over her shoulder blades where her wings use to be with other scar marks coming of it.
This caused Twilight to scream at Sunset "GET OUT!!!"
Not knowing what to do Sunset stepped out immediately feeling really bad. She facepalmed as she regretted walking in straight away. Sunset could her hear Twilight sobbing and it was breaking her heart. "Okay im walking in." Sunset announced before walking in.
"No, go away im monster!" Twilight called all muffled as her face was buried in the pillow.
Sunset sat on the edge of Twilight's bed and placed a hand on her shoulder. "Your not a monster!"
This made Twilight turn around and sit up, her eyes and red we're puffy from the crying. "That's easy for you to say. The magic turned you into something beautiful and turned me into a monster. It left me scars that is reminder of how ugly I am." Twilight reached over to grab her glasses from the side cabinet.
"Yes the magic turned me into something beautiful but that was only because of our friends and the lessons they taught me. If it wasn't for them I don't know if would of been able to stop you. And it wasn't even your fault you were pushed into doing it by miss Sinch, its her fault not yours." Sunset answered honestly.
"Still the magic it looked into my soul and saw darkness and I nearly pulled the world apart for more magic." Twilight sighed look down as she hugged her knee's.
"Im going to show you something. When I first used magic I turned into a monster just like you did at the friendship games. I turned Snips and Snails into my own personal demons and I had the whole school under my control. Not to mention what I did before that before that bullying and using others to get what I wanted. I was really nasty piece of work and I have my own scars to remind me of what I did. Sunset around a lifted up the back of her shirt. It was two large scars just like Twilight with all the other marks included.
"I had no idea." Twilight said as sunset pulled her shirt back down.
"I don't like to talk about it, but I know everything you going through I have been where you are and I Promise does get easier, you just need a little help from your friends." Sunset replied.
"But how do you get through the thoughts everyday when your alone." Twilight asks sadly
Sunset placed a hand under Twilight's face and brought her up to look at in the eyes. "I take the pain and I make a promise that no one else is going to feel that pain ever again. That I will be a better person and that I wont let my fears rule my head."
At that moment Twilight completely surprised Sunset as she quickly lent forwards hugging her tightly. "Thank you." Twilight cried happy tears.
"You welcome." Sunset smiled as she hugged her back.
At the Camp ball Twilight remembered what Sunset said and built up the confidence to ask her out. This caused the bacon haired girl to blush heavily, but agree to go out with her. The Next day on the bus back home they sat next to each other holding hands. Twilight felt so safe next to Sunset, she felt as though noting bad would ever happen, making Twilight grip a little tighter. Sunset noticed but didn't mind, in fact she found it cute and it made her smile.
The bus arrived back home quite late which made them agree to push their date back tomorrow. When it came to leaving and going home, Sunset and Twilight held on to each other for as long they could until they had to let go. Twilight walked back home with Spike fast a sleep in her backpack, on the way home she had the happy feeling slowly wash off the farther away from Sunset she got and was now only left with silence and her thoughts. "Sunset is pitying you that's why she would only date you, she feels sorry for you. Your scars make you weak while hers make her stronger." Tears started to fall from her face. When she arrived home Twilight made sure she didn't look like she was crying. She spent a some time down stairs as she placed Spike in his basket and watched tv with her parents while she explained everything that had happed over camp.
After a while Twilight faked a yawn and excused her self up stairs where she quickly slipped into the bathroom grabbed a single razor and headed into her bedroom and locking the door behind her. This wasn't the first time she had done this, she held the razor against her left wrist and drew it across, blood began to seep out as she quickly grabbed the bundle of tissue and held it over her arm. It was a familiar pain, the sting it hurt so badly Twilight greeted her teeth, but exactly what she felt as though she deserved. She took her glasses off and placed them on her bed side cabinet before laying down as she cried into her pillow before falling off to sleep.
\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\ The Next day.
Sunset woke up so excited as she thought about her date with Twilight tonight. She got up and open the curtains wide and looked outside it was bright sunny day with barely a cloud in the sky, she breathed in the warm summers air and listened to the birds happily tweeting away in the tree's. "Perfect!" Sunset said as she rushed off to do her morning routing. After she washed and dressed into her work clothes, Sunset rushed back over to her wardrobe to see what she should wear for tonight. But as she stood there looking at her clothes, she then realised, she didn't even know what they was doing on the date. She picked up her phone and texted Twilight.
Twilight was still in bed, the curtains were still closed as light tried to force its way into the muggy bedroom. With other arm she reached over to her glasses before looking at her phone and saw the text from Sunset. Twilight quickly replied and felt as though she immediately and regretted it, making her hit her head against the pillow. "Stupid, Stupid, Stupid.
Sunset pulled out her phone once she heard it vibrate. Her began to flutter seeing Twilight had replied to her text.
I was thinking a movie and get something to eat afterwards nothing too fancy.
It sounded perfect. And now Sunset knew to wear something casual, nothing too fancy. She instantly replied before putting her phone back in her pocket and headed out to her weekend job.
Twilight was still groaning until she heard the sound of her phone Vibrate. She hesitantly opened her phone and took a good moment to read the text Sunset sent.
Sound good, I cant wait! See you tonight, don't be late!❤
Twilight was surprised at Sunset reply, she didn't understand it. "In not anything special, im just a screw up." Twilight ended up just chalking up to Sunsets kind personality. She sat up as she didn't feel like she could fall back to sleep again. Twi sighed looking down at the tissue covering her cut. "I better wear something long sleeved."
\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\ Later That Night
Twilight was waiting out side the cinema dressed in black jeans and long sleeved purple jumper with a light purple bag over her shoulder. She made sure her hair was down to make it feel more relaxed. Her heart was beating so fast and flood of anxiety filled her up as horrible thoughts flooded her mind. "She's not going to show, its all a joke. you should go home your going to be alone. who would even date someone like you."
She violently shook her head clearing all the thoughts out of her head. "Its fine I just arrived too early, she gonna show any-" She stop talking as soon as she saw Sunset, she found her heart skipped a beat. She adjust her glasses as she felt speechless, she was wearing a white and green shirt with a black jacket that had its sleeves rolled up showing the white inside of the jacket. But what really took the egg head's breath away was Sunset new hair cut. It was short, the shortest she had seen it and she looked beautifully perfect.
"Hi!" Sunset greeted smiling while blush at Twilights look.
"Hey..." Twilight was completely lost in Sunset.
"So what do you think of my new look?" Sunset asked as she posed so her date could get a good look at her.
"It er... I mean um." Twilight gave her head a little shake to brake out her trance. "You look stunning."
"While it certainly stunned you." Sunset giggled, making the egg head look off to the side blushing. "Oh do that it was cute, if it means anything you look pretty amazing yourself." This just made Twilight blush even more, her cheeks almost glowing red.
After all the teasing they headed into the cinema and chose a romantic comedy to watch, which led to a small argument about who was paying for the date with was soon settled by each of them paying for half. When it came for them to sit down, Twilight made sure Sunset stayed on right encase they held hands and Sunset felt the cut. She was afraid of what she would say if she found out. During the film Twilight had trouble concentrating on the film and was constantly on focused whether she doing a good job or not or if she should be doing more. But in the end she chose to push all those thoughts away and just enjoy the moment, this led to Twilight laying her head against Sunset shoulder. Sunset smiled at this leading her to rest her head against Twilights head, She lookdown at her favourite nerd seeing that she was holding the her jumper over her left arm. She had a good idea why but thought it was best to ask over dinner.
Once the movie was over they left the screen and walked outside towards the pizza place near by as they made small talk about the film. Twilight clung to Sunset she made her feel so safe and secure, Sunset was more then fine with this, just seeing how happy she was making Twilight was all worth it. She could tell how unhappy Twilight must be when she wasn't around, every time she looked into Twilights beautiful sparking eyes. She could see the Scars both mentally and physically and it weighed heavily on Twilight, taking its toll on her. She needed to find a way to help her.
They reached the restaurant and was show to table next to the window. At first they made small talk about their favourite pizzas and other really good restaurants, while they ordered their food waited for it too be brought to their table. Once the food was brought to the table they began to tuck into their food making enjoyable sounds and as they devoured it. Sunset waited for the waiter to come round and ask if they we're okay before she could begin to talk to Twilight and help her out, if she could.
"So... I've noticed you keep your jumper over wrist and I just have to ask... have you harmed yourself?" Sunset asks cautiously.
Twilight was shocked she thought she hid it so well, she couldn't bring herself to look Sunset in the eyes she just look down at her down at her food. "I thought I hid it well." That was she could think of as a reply.
Sunset tutted and carefully grabbed hold Twilight's hand she slowly lifted up her Jumper and looked at the cut on wrist, it was fresh and recent and it took every ounce of strength to fight back tears. Instead she lent down and gave it a light kiss with every compliment. "Oh my precious, beautiful, caring, amazing Twilight. You are worth so much more then you actually know."
"Im not, im not beautiful, or worth any of this kind of affection. You turn your weaknesses into your strengths and I cant im not strong enough to do that. I don't understand why you even agreed to go out with me." Twilight began to start silently crying, tears rolling down her cheek.
"I agreed to go out with you because I think your everything to me. I've always admired you from a far but never pushed anything on you encase you didn't like me back, I wasn't sure if I could handle that rejection and when you asked me I felt like the luckiest girl in the world. I love you Twilight and I want to show you that kind of love." Sunset stood from the table, left some money on the table and held her hand out to Twilight ignoring the other people in restaurant. "Come with me."
"Where are we going?" Twilight asked confused.
"Your staying round mine, text your parents." Sunset told her as Twilight took her hand.
"Oh okay, but what are we going to do?" Twilight asked again surprised.
"Im going to love you and cherish you and show you how much you are loved." Sunset replied making Twilight blush.
Time had past since that date and it led to many, many more, During which Sunset and Twilight had both graduated from Canterlot High. Twilight told her parents that she was Dating Sunset and they we're very supportive and even end having a family dinner where they got to meet Sunset and thank her for making their daughter so happy. Twilight was such a different person then she use to be. She was confident, strong and independent and it was all thanks to Sunset. She showed her a way to put her past behind her and not let it rule her life. It was as if she was free from a prison, a prison of her own making. And now she was making her own way with Sunset by her side. They supported each other through each hard ships and it wasn't long before Sunset popped the question and asked Twilight to marry her.
Of course their lives for a few months after had become all about lists and charts and everything in between as everything had to be just right and nothing could be out of place. That's right Twilight had started Twilighting, she was in full blown panic mode and became frantic trying to make it best day ever. It got to a point where Sunset had to step in and remind her that the day didn't have to be perfect. The day would be perfect as long as they had each and they we're together, nothing else mattered. To stop Twilight from having and another mental breakdown they decided to plan the wedding together and split duties evenly and made sure they were always able to ask each other for help.
Time just flew by, month's past and days blurred like cars on race track and before they knew it, it was the day of the wedding moments away from getting married. Twilight was sitting her room wishing she was at home as she stared at her wedding dress hanging on wardrobe, The dress she tried on and fell in love with, the dress that filled her with so much joy and happiness. Now it filled her with fear and dread as it loomed over. The day was making her feel so nervous and so sick like her stomach was doing backflips. She laydown grabbed a pillow and curled up and cuddled her stomach. The day she was so excited for was here and she felt so scared. "What if I mess up? What if Sunset wakes up one day and she doesn't love me anymore? What if im not a good wife? I might not be cut out for this kind of life?" Twilight said aloud to herself. Of course she normally wouldn't be alone as everyone would be helping her get ready but she pushed everyone away and said she want to personally sort her self out, much to Rarity's disappointment. But now she had pushed everyone away she wish they were all there surrounding her.
"Why do I do the things I do." Twilight began to cry.
Suddenly there was a knock on the door. "How goes the beautiful bride?" Night Light popped his head around the door and immediately frowned seeing Twilight curled up on the bed sobbing. "Oh baby girl what's the matter?" He closed the door behind him and sat on the edge of Twilights bed as he gently stroked her arm.
"W-what if I can't make Sunset happy? What if I cant be what she needs? I don't think I can stomach letting her down." Twilights sobbing increased.
"Twilight sweet heart, I know for a fact your gonna make Sunset very happy because you already do. Nothing has to change when you get married, just be yourself its not like you have to act a certain way. Just let me ask you a question, how do you feel about Sunset?" He asked sincerely.
"I love her deeply I've never loved someone as much as I love her, she's my rock I couldn't live without her." Twilight replied.
"Now what if she's sad and alone? what if she needs your help?"
"Do my best to comfort her and be there for her." she replied.
"Then I think your ready. That's all marriage is, its being there for each other. Looking out for one and other, caring and loving each other and promising to be there no matter what. You don't have to change your self, because your already what Sunset wants and I know for a fact she'll take no substitute." Night Light smiled as push the hair out of Twilights face.
She smiled as she realised how stupid she had been and began to cry once more before she hugged her dad tightly. "Thank you."
"Anytime princess, anytime." He hugged back as few tears fell from his own cheek.
Minutes passed before Twilight eventually let go of her dad and asked if he could get her friends. She felt bad for pushing them away and wanted to make amends and on the biggest day of her life she wanted them right by her side. As soon as they turned up they were already to help Twilight get ready for the big day. She could feel her self begging to cry as her emotions run high. The fact her friends we're all ready to help her, no questions asked was almost over whelming.
Twilight stood in front of the mirror as she was now dressed and ready. Her friends went back to their seats leaving Twilight on her own. The Egg Head's heart was pound and it was no longer out fear, no it was now out of excitement. She couldn't wait to spend the rest of her life with Sunset. Suddenly the was a knock at the door before it open.
"Ready?" Night Light asked.
Twilight grabbed hold of the bouquet and took one more look at self and smiled. "Ready."
When they reached the Church the wedding began. Flurry Heart went first as she layed out flowers covering isle. Then it was Twilight turn she gripped her dad's arm as she walkdown. She was focused on Sunset but could see Trixie at the corner of her eye dressed n a navy blue gown standing next to her wife to be. She looked pretty but Sunset drop dead gorgeous dressed In her suit & tie.
"Look after my baby now." Night Light said as he was keeping back his own tears.
"I will, I promise." Sunset said after wiping her eyes and giving him a warm hug.
This was it, Twilight was standing next to Sunset, the moment they looked forward to was here. everything flew by so fast and before she knew it was time for the vow's.
"You've prepared your own vow's?" The officiator asked?
"Yes." Twilight replied as she turned to face Sunset looking lovingly into her eyes. "Sunset, the day we met I was a loner and was only interested in furthering my own career with out any care for else. But you showed be another way you barged into my life turned it upside down and I came out a better person for it. You accepted me and all my mistakes even when I didn't accept myself. When I was down at my lowest point and thought all was lost, you we're there to pull me out of the darkness and bring me into the light." Sunset was tearing up as twilight gave her vow's. "Sunset im deeply in love with you, from your caring, kind nature to your beautiful gorgeous looks. Your personality brightens up a room and cant wait for you to brighten up my life. I promise to be there no matter if your sick, angry or sad, I will be there because I love you Sunset Shimmer and that's all there is to say." Spike came over with the ring on pillow that he was holding in his mouth. Twilight bent to grab the ring to place on Sunsets finger.
It was Sunset's turn but she had to finish drying her eyes before talk. "Twilight, my cute nerdy egg head, you act like I was the one who gave you strength but it was actually you who gave me the strength to carry on living. I was at point in my life we're I felt as though should give up and let go, but you bumbled into my life and gave me a reason to hold on, You showed me life was worth living. I have a lot of fears and worries that I constantly go through, but when im with you it all goes quite and life does seems so bad." It was Twilights turn to dry her own eyes." Every time I complemented you, you never seem to believe it but I always meant every word. You beautiful, amazing, incredibly smart and Incredibly sexy." Sunset winked making Twilight blush. "I will be there every time you start Twilighting, I will be there through though times and the happy times. I guess all I've got left to say is I love you Twilight Sparkle and I cant wait to see what our future holds." Trixie smiled as dried her eyes and gave Sunset the ring. Sunset placed the ring on Twilights finger before holding both her hands
"With the power vested in me I pronounce you wife and wife! You may kiss." Officiator announced
Twilight and Sunset kissed to seal the deal to a life time of happiness.
Life was going great for Sunset and Twilight they were moving forwards in their jobs. Twilight had gotten her doctorate and was working at one of the best science institutes in the country. Sunset followed her dream and became a Teacher at Canterlot High which was great at first, but she was having a few bad days, students misbehaving . It wasn't until Twilight sat down with Sunset and told her she was contributing to the world by teaching the future. The fact she made it her life's work to teaching kids wasn't short of Amazing. She inspired her students to work hard and helped them find their place in the world. This made Sunset feel a lot better about her work and it gave her the confidence she needed.
They had brought a house that perfectly fitted the both of them, It was big enough to give them both an office each to work from and guest room if any of the girls wanted to stay over. Spike got his own room but preferred to sleep in the same room as Twilight and Sunset on most nights. They had the odd normal argument here and there but over all, they we're incredibly happy and very much in love. Life seem to be perfect.
\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\ Present day.
Sunset had just finished marking papers for the day and was feeling pretty good as she let out a sigh of relief. She stretched out her arm as she decided to set up her lessons for next week later as she didn't really felt in the mood to do it now. Her belly rumbled agreement her letting her know it was lunch time. Sunset was just gonna go to the kitchen and make herself something to eat, But Twilight had spent a long time in her office it would be nice if they went out to eat for bit. She knocked on the door to her office before popping her head through. "Hey babe, I thought we could go get something to eat."
Twilight was staring intensely at her chalk bored filled with all sorts of equations it was way above Sunset's level . She didn't really understand this world version of science, she missed Equestria and its way of knowledge. Magic seemed to be easier, humans had to make it difficult for them selves, she never understood why. "I would love to baby but im kinda busy. Why don't you ask Trixie, you haven't seen her in ages."
This was true she had seen her best friend since she came back off her tour, it would be good to catch up but she was still a bit disappointed that Twilight wasn't. "Okay then but remember to take a brake at some point."
Twilight turned around smiling at Sunset before walking over to give her a quick kiss on the lips. "I will, promise. Would you take Spike he need's to go out for walks."
Sunset smiled. "Yeah I'll take him out."
"Thanks Shimmy, have fun." Twilight walked back to her chalk bored.
Sunset left Twilight to her work and gave Trixie a quick text asking to meet at the burger joint near by for a quick catch up, to which Trixie quickly replied agreeing to meet. Sunset immediately went looking for Spike, she soon found him snoozing on the front room sofa. he was murmuring something about catching squirrels She couldn't quite understand it, but it made her giggle. "Spike! Come on we're going for a walk!"
Spike instantly woke up wagging his tail, panting happily. "Is Twilight coming too?" Spike barked happily as hopped around.
"No just me." Sunset laughed she struggled to get the coiler Spike. "You know I'd like to spend time you." she added as finished putting the collier on and ruffled his head.
Spike and Sunset made their way out the front door. "Where are we going?" Spike asked excited.
"Firstly we're going to the burger joint where we will meet Trixie for lunch, ill get you a burger don't worry and afterwards we'll go to the park."
"Let's go!" Spike cheered.
They arrived at the burger joint and found Trixie already waiting outside. Sunset smiled as soon as they both saw each. "Trixie!" She ran over to her friend hugging her tightly. "Its so good see you Trix."
"Trixie is happy to see you too and She has so much to tell you!" The magician said excitedly.
They sat outside as they eat their lunch and talked about their lives. Trixie talked about all the shows she did and how well they went. "That's great Trix, im so happy for you." Sunset said before taking another bite out her burger.
"Well that's not all, Trixie met someone." She beamed excitedly.
"Wow, that's amazing, who is it?" Sunset asked stunned.
"Her name is Starlight, she works apart of the crew that sets up the stage and she completely adores me." Sunset rolled her eyes before smiling. "But enough about me how are you doing how's Teaching going?"
"Its rewarding work... but it has its off moments and its rough days. Im so glad I have Twilight to come home to." Sunset answered with a happy sigh.
"How is Dr Sparkle?" Trixie asked.
"She great, stomped on this science problem. She tried explaining it to me but it went right over my head." Sunset chuckled
"And you two are good?" Trixie asked just to makes sure.
"We're happy and still deeply in love. I couldn't live with out her, she everything to me."
After lunch Sunset and Trixie took Spike to the park near by as they played fetch and let him terrorise the local squirrels. But time got on and Sunset still had work to do. She called Spike back and said bye to Trixie and made plans for a double date this weekend. It had been the perfect day and was excited to tell Twilight all about it. As soon as they step back home Sunset called out to Twilight but got no replied so she made her way up to her office. She opened her off door and was confused to find she wasn't there. "Maybe she stepped out for a bit."
But there was pit in her stomach that telling her something was wrong, her gut told her to go further. So she entered further into her wife's office, her hands began to get sweaty. She looked behind the desk and much to Sunset horror she found Twilight laying face first on the floor. "TWILIGHT!" She rushed over and turned her over, she was pale and coughed up some blood. Sunsets eyes went wide in fear she quickly pulled out her phone and called for ambulance. "Its gonna be okay Twi. Baby its gonna be okay."
Sunset stayed in the waiting room, it had been hours since Twilight was taken in. Sunset paced back and forth, she couldn't stay in one place, so many thoughts ran through her head. She called the school to let them know she wont be in for long time, she couldn't say for how long though. Time felt to be going so slow, she just wanted some bit of information to keep her going, just something, anything. Another hour had past before the doctor came to see Sunset. He sat her down and explained that Twilight's condition was critical and that in few month's she wouldn't be able to walk and in year she was going to die.
Sunset heart shattered and her life was falling to pieces before her. "There must be something we can do?"
"Im going to give you the medication she need's and you have to follow these strict instructions." The doctor wrote down the instructions on a piece of paper and handed it to her. "But Im so sorry Mrs Sparkle, but im sorry there is no cure. My best advice is for both of you to enjoy what time you have left together."
Sunset entered Twilight's hospital room and sat by her bed. Tears streamed down her face as she held Twilights hand stroking it gently. "I love you baby. I love you so much."
\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\ The next Day
Once Sunset was given Twilight's medicine, they we're able to drive home since there was nothing else they could do and Twilight's condition was now stable. The drive home was so quite you could hear a pin drop, Sunset didn't know what to say and she felt as though if said anything that she would break down and cry. With one hand on the steering wheel, her other hand held Twilight's hand gripping it tightly as if she let go of her wife she would disappear. It stayed like that for rest of the day, except for when Twilight took Spike to one side and explained everything. Sunset took this moment to go out of the house, she found a quite spot in the park to cry and vent out. "Its not fair! ...ITS NOT FAIR!" Sunset screamed before dropping to the floor, crying into her hands.
"No its not." a voice said behind her, she was shocked to see it was Trixie. "Twilight called me, she told me. Im so, so sorry Sunset."
"Why did this have to happen its not fair!" She continued to cry.
Trixie walked over to her best friend and dropped to her knees before pulling Sunset into a hug, holding her tightly. Trixie didn't say anything except held her tightly as her own tears began to fall. It hurt to see her best friend go through something this painful she wished there was away to help or at least take it all away. "The best thing to do now is go home and spend time with Twilight, while you still can."
Sunset looked at Trixie and nodded in agreement. As she was walking back an idea popped into her head and it made her smile for the first time in a while. She entered the house and found Twilight in the front room sitting in the Armchair, reading a book. Sunset Stood there for a moment staring at Twilight taking in all her of her breath taking features. In this moment she look perfectly fine like nothing has even happened. She wanted to freeze this moment in time to never let go perfectly preserving her, but the cruel hand of time was slowly taking her away and the world was going to be a cold place without her.
Twilight eventually looked up to see Sunset was staring at her with a sad smile. She showed Sunset the front cover it was the new Daring Do book that came out Three months ago. "I had been meaning to read it. Now's better then never." Twilight gave Sunset her usual bright smile.
Sunset pulled out her phone and look down her playlist of music and stopped her romance songs. She played it from the begging and left it on the on shelf on full blast. It was Twilights favourite song and she smile as she looked up again to see Sunset holding out her hand. "Can I have this dance?"
"Certainly." She grasped Sunset hand before standing up.
Sunset held her close as she wrapped her arms around her waist and danced slowly around the living room. "So I have an idea." Sunset said softly. "Lets go on a vacation."
"But work and our responsibilities." Twilight replied.
"Twilight we don't have long. Who cares about any of them now. Please we lets just get away before its too late." Sunset pleaded.
"Your right, but Spike has to come too I want all three of us together."
"I wouldn't have it any other way. I care for Spike too, I wouldn't want him to miss out." Sunset replied.
"So where did you have in mind?" Twilight asked curious.
"How about Equestria?" Sunset asked with a slight smile.
Twilight let out a squeal of delight. "Oh I've always wanted to go."
"I'll take that as a yes." Sunset said with her smile getting slightly bigger.
"Yes, yes, yes!" Twilight cheered stepping back bouncing up and down on her tip toes.
Sunset smiled brightly seeing how happy Twilight is, gave her hope. "I love you."
"I love you." Twilight gave Sunset long and deep kiss before going back to slow dancing with Sunset as she held her closely.

The Next Day.
Sunset and Twilight took Spike to the portal, they didn't see any point in packing anything since ponies didn't really wear clothes the only thing Sunset brought with her was the medicine that Twilight needed. She had sent Princess Twilight a message in the book, so when they stepped through the portal they we're met with a friendly face. "Sunset! Twilight!" Princess Twilight cheered as they stumble through the portal.
Princess Twilight help her human counterpart now turned pony up. "Princess. Oh my god, IM A PONY!" Twilight Squealed.
"Yep you certainly are!" Sunset chuckled as she nuzzled her wife before turning to look at her Alicorn friend. "Hey Princess."
"Am I a Dragon!" Spike asked as looked his wings and scales over.
This made everyone laugh before they headed over to the map room for a cup of tea and chat, while both Spike' headed on out to do some mischief. "So what brings you here?" Princess Twilight asks.
"Just a vacation away." Sunset quickly answered before looking over at Twilight who gave her appreciative smile.
"That's Great! How long do you plan staying?" Twilight asked beaming.
"A few weeks." Twilight answered.
"That gives us plenty of time to show you around." Princess Twilight.
"Well I need to do something but I'll catch up with you girls later." Sunset placed her cup on the table and got up off the throne.
"Oh okay don't be too long." Twilight replied confused.
"I wont, promise. I Love you." Sunset planted a kiss on Twilights cheek before trotting out of the room.
"Don't she probably gone to talk to Princess Celestia, to patch things up." Princess Twilight said trying to comfort her double.
Afterwards Princess Twilight decided to show her pony double around Ponyville. She took her Rarities Boutique where the Element of Generosity made Twilight a dress. It was a beautiful outfit made from the finest materials and was completely new, no pony had worn it before. She really lived up to her Element. Princess Twilight took her Sugarcube corner where they spoke to Pinkie, she asked a ton of questions and then baked her a fresh batch of cup cakes for her take and eat later.
Then it was to Sweet Apple Acres, where they paid Applejack a visit. The Farm was very impressive and so large, it was a wonder how the Apple family got all the work done. AJ gave her the full tour and even bumped into the Cutie Mark Crusaders along the way. After that they visited Fluttershy at her Animal Sanctuary were she helped to look after all the sick animals. It was really kind and impressive of her to look after so many animals. To finish of the tour they visited the school of friendship. It was empty since it was the weekend but it was still very impress all the same.
They we're now heading back to Princess Twilights castle for sit down and a break she was begging to feel really tired like she couldn't keep up. Twilight was amazed to such simulates between and differences Princess Twilight friends and her own. She had wished Sunset was with them, she would of loved to of spent the day with her.
"Sorry we didn't see Rainbow dash she busy with Wonderbolt stuff up in Cloudsdale, we can see her tomorrow if you like?" Princess Twilight asked.
"Yeah sounds, its shame Sunset wasn't with us, I'd like to see where she comes from." Twilight said
"Well when she comes back we can ask." Twilight opened the door to hear the sound of something coming from the library. "What's that sound?"
They entered the library to find Sunset using magic to bring different books to her before throwing them away. "Sunset, What are you doing?" Twilight asked confused.
"Princess Twilight, perfect timing, Celestia was no hope I need all your book on cures and or magical objects that can do the same. Or all your notes on the differences between the human world and this one. Anything you have an quick." Sunset asked franticly as she searched through books at a speed fast then the bookworm her self. Twilight understood what Sunset was trying do.
"Sunset I don't understand? What's wrong?" Princess Twilight asked confused.
"Princess could you give us some space." Twilight asked. The Princess nodded in response and left Twilight and Sunset alone. "Sunset you need to stop."
"No Twilight! There's a cure here I know it. Maybe a spell or a herbal remedies or a magical amulet. It has to be here or maybe you aren't dying because your pony body doesn't have any of the effects." Sunset was searching for this cure and she wasn't going to stop.
Twilight sat next to Sunset and placed her off hoof on Sunsets. "Sunset look at me." Sunset did as she was told. "Im dying and there is no cure I am terrified... But I more terrified of going through this alone I need you my side every day of every minute until my last. We have to make every moment count, life isn't worth living if I cant enjoy it with the one I love."
Sunset began to break down and cry. "But I cant live without you."
"We have stop focusing on the future, we have to focus on now before its too late." Twilight said as tears ran down her face.
"I love you Twilight"
"Love you too Sunset." Sunset and Twilight sat in pile of books hugging each other tightly afraid to let the other go.
After they explained everything to Princess Twilight, their vacation in Equestria went smoothly. They visited Rainbow up in cloudsdale, thanks to Twilight and her magic spell. They even got the best seats to a Wonderbolts show, with Rainbow performing her most amazing tricks. Sunset eventually took Twilight to where she grew up, she explained how her parents died when she was a filly and was taken in by Celestia. She didn't need to explain what happened afterwards.
When they came back from Equestria, Twilight and Sunset took Trixie up on her offer of a double date and finally got to meet Starlight. Sunset could already tell the connection between the both of them. It ended up becoming a really nice night many stories were told and lots of laughs we're shared. Twilight and Sunset decided to keep living their lives to the fullest as they went on trip after trip. Visiting the most amazing beaches, cities and checked out as many events as they could. But as time got on Twilight had trouble keeping up, until one day while visiting a famous museum she collapsed as her legs gave way. Sunset tried help Twilight but her legs would respond. "Come on you stupid legs, get up! Get up! GET UP!" Twilight screamed as she hit her legs while tears streamed down her face. But it was useless she couldn't feel a thing. Sunset tried to reassure Twilight that it was okay, but she couldn't say it, was breaking her heart to see Twilight like this.
But after the visit to local hospital where they Got Twilight a wheel chair her whole personality changed. She was full of life and wanted to continue on the their trip visiting as many places as possible. She was determined to not let it get her down, she remained happy and positive and Sunset didn't know how she was doing. It was like the whole world was coming crashing down but Twilight was unaware to it all. When Sunset asked her she gave the best reply she had ever heard. "Im still here and im not done fighting. This is surviving." This surprised Sunset and gave her the strength to keep on going to keep on facing the world.
But all good things had to come to an end as Twilight had become weaker and they eventually head back home where Twilight got taken in by the hospital. Sunset visited every day she never wanted to miss a day. Twilight's family came and visited as often as they could, so did the girls and so did Trixie. When ever Twilight was busy talking to someone else, Sunset took a moment to step outside to either have a breakdown or to have a smoke. She started smoking back when she was a bully but stopped when Princess Twilight showed her the error of her ways. Now day's it was unhealthy coping mechanisms that she took a lot of joy in. She had to take a quick mint and use body spray afterwards, if Twilight ever found out she would be so disappointed her and she couldn't handle letting Twilight down.
The days pass and which each day Twilight seemed to get worse and worse. It was one of the worst things imaginable slowly watching your partner fade away thing nothing you could do. Until one day, it was a normal day nothing seemed out of place. Sunset made her way up to Twilight's room to find she wasn't there. Sunset's heart began to pound and then the doctor came up to her "Im sorry, she went in her sleep. We tried to contact you, but we couldn't get through." She didn't hear a word past sleep. The Day had come, the worst day of her life. Sunset ran out of the hospital, tears streaming down her face, she kept running past the streets, all the way to the large empty park. She stopped a let out largest scream letting out all her pain and anger. "WHY!" She dropped to her knees and hit the ground, thump after thump until her hands turned red.
Before she knew it Sunset was standing in graveyard she watched as Twilight's coffin was lowered into the ground. She grabbed a handful of dirt and dropped it onto the casket. Once everyone had left Sunset and Spike stayed behind to be with Twilight a little bit longer. "I don't know what im going to do with out you." Spike curled up Sunset lap he hadn't said a word since he found out. "Life seems so pointless." Sunset brought Spike up to cuddle.
"Trixie thinks you should go home." Sunset didn't even look round instead she pulled out cigarette and lighter from her pocket.
She lit the cigarette before taking puff. "I thought you already went home."
"Trixie did, but she was worried so Trixie called you and got no reply." The magician replied sounding scared.
"I threw my phone away." Sunset said nonchalantly.
"Why don't you go home?" Trixie asked again.
"I cant everything smell like her." Sunset answered bluntly, she wish she could cry but she didn't have any left.
"What are you going to do?"
"Me and Spike are going to live in Equestria. At least Twilight will be alive, it wont be my Twilight, but at least she about. Spike will be my number one assistant a boy?" Spike looked up Sunset and nodded before giving her cheek a quick lick. "He will have a longer life span so we both wont lose each other and Princess Twilight offered me a job at her school when this time came."
"But im going to miss you." Trixie retorted.
Sunset placed Spike on the ground and walked over to her best friend. "I know but I need this new start, and you have Starlight, to look after." Sunset flicked her cigarette butt onto the ground before pulling Trixie into a hug. "Just remember to cherish Starlight, love everyday you have with her and don't take it all for granted." Sunset said before giving Trixie a kiss on the cheek and walking off with Spike following behind her.
That was the last time anyone saw Sunset. Trixie took what she said that day to heart and loved every minute of every second with Starlight. Eventually they got married and Trixie really missed her on that day. She hoped that maybe she would appear just for the wedding but there never was any sign of her. Trixie was living her life with Starlight and her mind randomly thought about Sunset, she only hoped she could find away to heal her Scars.
