BANG BANG BANG.

“Princess, wake up! It’s urgent!”

Another series of bangs came to her door as a small groan was heard from inside.

Princess Nightwrath (roughly the size of Twilight Sparkle, coat like Luna’s and a dark blue and blue-gray colored looking mane) opened up the door, looking over a rather panicked guard with two soldiers, not guard, but soldiers behind him. They held the ranks of a four and five star general and as Night noticed, she quickly perked up.

“What’s going on.. What are these two doing here?”

The Princess said in a stern but groggy tone. The Generals took off there respect officer caps and gave a small bow as the dark blue coated and navy blue maned pony spoke first. He was the five star General.

“Princess..I, we, don’t know how to put it lightly..”

He looked to the other pony who was batpony, her coat gray and her mane white and light gray. Her slitted eyes looked over to the General to right of her before she spoke shakenly.

“Your Grace…just forty-five minutes ago...uh.” She gulped. “Th-the Changeling Nation launch an attack on our bordering states. We.. don’t know how many are dead and wounded but the combination is in the tens of thousands, M-ma’am.”

Nightwrath stood there in shock for a moment before she disappeared into her room. Sounds of struggling where heard along with a hurried voice before she appeared in her Field Marshal uniform, the highest rank in the Royal Equestrian Army. Quickly, the guard and two Generals saluted before Night spoke, her magic lighting up to fix her tail and mane as she pushed past them.

“Wake up the Castle. I need all of the Princesses awake. Sargent, go!”

The night guard blinked, stammered a bit then saluted as he darted off down the hall. Night turned to the other two left and nodded.

“Prepare the war room. I need a damage assessment and get the the changeling Ambassador here in canterlot.. If he is still here.”

10:00am
In front of the gates of Canterlot Castle.

Princess Nightwrath stood behind a set up stage as she wore a black with gold trim uniform. A white cap was on her head with the sigil of the Royal Equestrian Army in the center of it. On her chest, the royal ribbons; Showing her experience as a soldier, protector, leader and strategist of Equestria and her military forces. Another pony helped button up her uniform and get it nice, flat and clean as journalist and reporters outside prepared for her speech.

It was hately written in two hours, only given so long to get her facts right, write and quickly proofread it. The Princess looked up at the sky before closing her eyes, the mare taking a moment to relax herself as she then looked back down and nodded.

When the Princess appeared, a line of soldiers stood in front of the stage, rifle weapons on their side. She stared over them for a moment as reporters started an uproar of questions, pictures, and camera shots. The mare lifted up a hoof and pulled out a piece of paper that was folded up in her uniform jacket as the crowd of journalists and reporters went silent. The Princess put down her hoof and then spoke, her idly looking down to read over her speech as she did.

“Last night at 4:00 am, the nation of the Changeling Empire launched an attack on the bordering states of Equestria and said to have done the same to the Crystal Empire.”

Her voice held a firm, stern tone, the mare keeping a professional posture as she was looking around at the ponies below her. It was clear, this was serious.

“At 4:10 am, bombers flew over and destroyed many military locations while leveling many towns. Roughly fifty thousand are wounded and over seven thousand lay dead. The changelings were not happy with taking Orlenia, to much of our protest, and now they attack us.

We have reached out to the Government and diplomats of the changelings with the only response being ‘We declare all relations to turn to war. Surrender or the attacks will continue.’ To mine and the other Princesses’ painful regret, I, Princess Nightwrath, hereby declare Equestria in a state of war. We are left with no other choice and it was made clear last night that Queen Chrysalis has no desire to negotiate with us.”

Her voice raised, becoming more prideful, patriotic and gleeful, unlike before. She spoke with confidence, fire and passion.

“With this in mind, we still uphold our values of Friendship, Harmony and the magic of. We, as your Princesses and leaders, will not fail to protect you. We will remain strong and we will fight. Our nation was founded on unity and helping one another in the darkest of times. Right now seems so evil and so gloomy with the hoof of the changelings ready to tighten around us but this is only the beginning. Right now, stallions and mares of the Royal Equestrian Military are preparing to defend us. Right now, our factories are gearing up to protect our way of life and right now, the world watches us; Watches us to set an example that even the most peaceful of nations are not weak.

Just because we chose to fight with our minds and our words does not mean we are weaker. No, it means we are willing to look for the most harmless of options to ensure that not only we are safe but the ponies, gryphons, deer, changelings, bears, zebras and all other walks of life are safe inside of our nation and others too. It means we know the value of life and war is not first but the utmost last option in our book.”

Night’s voice then went silent as she grew into a more somber, saddening tone, the mare taking a moment to compose herself as she went on with her speech.

“However, we will mourn. Mourn for those lives lost last night during the attack and we will pray for those injured. May each and every soul rest peacefully and find peace in death for they will not be forgotten. Please, I ask that all of Equestria takes a moment of silence today for them and our brave soldiers who are rushing to the front. Our brave sea ponies guarding our oceans and trade ships. Our fierce pilots protecting our skies. Most of all, take a moment for those who could not see today.”

She bowed her head for a moment, the rest of the ponies doing the same. It was silent with only the breeze of the wind to be heard and felt at the moment before she raised her head to speak again.

“Equestria will stand stronger than ever and I, as your Princess will ensure the safety of the nation or go down trying. Tomorrow, I leave to lead our strong troops on the front, guiding them and protecting them the best I can. It is my job to protect this nation and I will not idly sit by. Princess Luna will be taking control of the Military as a whole and both Princess Celestia, with Princess Cadance, will be controlling the government. Prince Shining Armor is said to join me on the front tomorrow as well. We made a promise to you all and we intend to keep it.”

The Princess look up and around, staring at each camera, as her voice was stern, strong and prideful..

“For them. For us. For Equestria!”
