Trixie was nestled in front of the princess, would be between her two forelegs but one leg was lifted so that Celestia could examine her slipper. Trixie cleared her throat to get the princess' attention, who quickly looked down at the blue pony and smiled. "Ahh, you finished with the page precious?" Trixie nodded with a grin and Celestia's horn lit up turning the page on the book they were both reading. Trixie was only finished with the first page when Celestia began to float two glasses and a pitcher over to them. "Do you want some water precious?" Trixie groaned and looked up at the Princess. "Princess... You're distracting Trixie from reading!" Celestia raised an eyebrow and Trixie blushed gently, looking to the side. "That is to say... Trixie would appreciate it if you let her read without extra distractions." "Much better precious." Celesta wrapped one foreleg around Trixie causing her to squeak happily as she was squeezed affectionately. "My apologies precious, I'll try not to distract you... Perhaps you would like to read on your own and I can catch up?" Trixie squirmed a bit, she couldn't really say no but she didn't want to read of her own. "Trixie... Trixie supposes that would work." Trixie felt a gentle nip at her ear, causing her to flick it, that was one of the ways that Celestia expressed her displeasure with her young consort. Trixie whined gently, knowing why Celestia was not so pleased, Trixie had been falling back into stretching the truth like when she was being a showpony. "Trixie wants to read it with you princess but... You're too quick!" Princess Celestia smiled and laid a gentle kiss right between the blue unicorn's ears. "Sorry, when you've been teaching as long as I have you learn to read through things very quickly. I will simply have to be patient is all. But I'm happy to do it for you precious." Trixie smiled, she always got a small thrill when Celestia used the pet name she had for her. Luckily for Trixie, the princess used it a lot. Now with Celestia being less distracted, the two managed to get through about twenty pages before Trixie noticed the change. Celestia was usually very passively cuddly with her. Enjoying stroking her main, cuddling up against her, giving her a soft kiss every now and then, but now she was simply sitting there waiting and reading almost mechanically. Trixie looked up at the princess. "This is killing you isn't it princess?" Princess Celestia sighed and nodded. "Yes, I'm sorry precious but I was really trying my best. I can't say that it's unpleasant to have you simply here with me but when I'm waiting for something to happen and am concentrating on not reacting so I don't ruin what might be coming up for you it can get a little bit stressful." Trixie sighed and nodded. "Trixie supposes there's nothing for it except to read it on our own isn't it?" Celestia nuzzled down into Trixie's main. "I'm sorry precious I know you wanted to share this book with me but we'll just have to share it by chapter not by page, hmm? After each chapter, we can discuss it and that will be very close to reading it together." Trixie was not thrilled but she nodded, she'd assumed that reading together was something that couples did but since Celestia was too fast a reader she couldn't do it with her princess. "Trixie's sorry she's not a faster reader princess." That, however, caused Princess Celestia to laugh out loud, smiling down at the young mare/ "Precious, I promise you almost the last thing I look for in a mate is their reading speed, or else I would have kept Twilight here with me." Though usually, Trixie took even a vague comparison to Twilight Sparkle poorly she just had to give out a sharp laugh at that comment, it was so very true. Trixie smiled and nodded, her own horn lighting up as she grabbed the book. "How about Trixie finishes the chapter, then you can read it, then we can talk, with how much faster you read it'll give us less downtime between reading and talking about it, okay?" Celestia started to nod before freezing a slow smile spreading across her muzzle and she shook her head. "Oh! I thought of a far better idea precious." Trixie smiled, she liked better ideas, though she would have just a few weeks ago bucked at the concept of anyone having a better idea than the great and powerful Trixie. "What's your idea princess?" Princess Celestia just grinned and got up, climbing down off their shared bed. "Oh you'll see precious, but I need to go get a few things, no reading while I'm gone, okay?" Trixie let out a small playful whine but nodded. "Trixie promises not to read without you, unless you take too long." Celestia chuckled happily as she left the room. Trixie grinned and got up, trotting over to her wardrobe, the second best part about being here in the palace, besides being with Princess Celestia, was her new capes! Trixie opened the wardrobe to reveal her new capes and hats, and her old ones, though they were just in there for sentimental reasons not use reasons. She grinned, seventeen new, high-quality capes and hats, plus the set she was wearing made eighteen in total. And Celestia had ordered six more much to Trixie's delight. Each one was a bit different, that one had a different pattern that one was fur lined for impromptu napping, and that one was shielded from magic! For some reason... She bounced a little and missed Celestia coming into the room, saying, "you really like those don't you?" Trixie smiled and nodded, trotting back over to Celestia. "Oh yes! Yes, Trixie loves her new capes thank you!" Celestia smiled and motioned back up to the bed, which Trixie climbed up on to see that Celestia had brought snacks. Trixie giggled happily and started to munch on a few daisies as Celestia nestled her back into her little nest between Celestia's forelegs, Trixie tiled her head as she looked up. "So what's your idea princess?" Celestia smiled as she raised the book in the air in front of her and started to read. For a moment Trixie was going to protest, but then she smiled to herself, snuggling into the little cave she had, yawning gently as she continued to munch on daisies, wrapping her cape around herself in an impromptu blanket. It wasn't one of her lined caps but the princess was close, and she was warm too. Trixie snuggled up into the princess and closed her eyes to listen to the story. > Trixie's Favorite Spot To Nap > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Trixie snuggled into her cape happily as she curled up on Celestia's throne. Celestia had given Trixie the run of the palace and she'd found her favorite places for everything. Well, everything except performing, she hadn't worked out that one yet. Right now Trixie was nestled in Celestia's favorite spot for her, right between Celestia's forelegs. Trixie was... Unwilling to put on such an unprofessional display when court was in session, even though Celestia insisted it would be fine. They compromised that Trixie would be willing to nap while court wasn't in session. She'd gotten used to being under the gaze of guards or the odd servant at all times except in Celestia's bedroom. And Luna, the only other one present in the throne room when the court wasn't in session, had been very encouraging of Trixie and Celestia's relationship. Trixie let out a big yawn and squirmed around a bit, she was still half asleep but she thought she heard the princess talking to someone. Was court in session? Trixie grumbled, blushing as she looked up to scowl at Celestia for not waking her and letting her get into a more presentable situation! But as Trixie raised her head her ears instantly went down and she let out a small whine, the sight that had met her eyes was Twilight Sparkle staring at her. She lowered her head, trying to wrap herself tighter in the cloak. Trixie groaned again as she heard a musical chuckle that she usually loved to hear, now was causing her to dread the hooves that were trying to steal the cape hiding her, the coaxing voice that she usually melted for was now a traitorous dagger to her ears. "Come up here precious, Twilight is here." Trixie blushed brightly but sat up, trying to play off the fact she'd just been napping, though she was still sitting under the princess, which now that she thought about it made her look more important! "Greetings Twilight Sparkle! The great and powerful Trixie welcomes you to Canterlot!" Trixie flushed a little brighter as Twilight snickered gently. "Oh Trixie, thank you for the welcome, sorry to wake you from..." Twilight couldn't help but snicker a little harder. "Nap." Trixie opened her mouth to retort before it was interrupted by Celestia leaned down kissing Trixie gently on the top of the head just above her horn and causing her to blush, feeling the warm lips pressed up against her forehead. Trixie glanced up at Celestia, apparently, she hadn't picked up on the fact Trixie was trying to show off her position, not be Celestia's pet at the moment! Trixie flushed a little as she remembered the exact time that Celestia had referred to her as pet. "The great and powerful Trixie... Has many demanding duties that require her to get a lot of rest!" Twilight smirked at Trixie as they both knew she was lying but seemed willing to let it be, however, Celestia gave Trixie a gentle nip at one of her ears, causing Trixie to whine gently and glance up at Celestia, a little chagrinned as Celestia gave her a hard look, though still smiling encouragingly at her. "The... The great and powerful Trixie had... A late night doing grea..." An annoyed clearing of the throat from Celestia interrupted her and Trixie sighed. "Trixie... Stayed up reading with Princess Celestia." Trixie sighed again, in defeat, as Celestia leaned in and gave her a nuzzle, mumbling quietly but still loud enough to be heard. "Princess Celestia was reading to Trixie..." Celestia snickered gently, whispering to Trixie. "I thought the reading comment was perfectly acceptable precious." Celestia smiled and raised her head up as Trixie let out a small whine. Celestia looked back up at Twilight. "See? I told you she was adorable." Twilight smiled a smile that was indeed genuine. Twilight was by no means Trixie's biggest fan but she was happy to see the troubled mare find her own little piece of happiness, especially with how much Celestia seemed to enjoy having the showmare around her. "I'm glad that you're happy here Trixie." Trixie scowled at the newest princess. "Oh, because you are glad to have me away from your marefriend?" Twilight's eyes instantly hardened, she and Starlight Glimmer had broken up over... Differences that hit Twilight a bit too close to home. "No Trixie! Because I..." Twilight stopped at an uplifted hoof from Celestia. "That was unkind Trixie," Celestia cooed gently to her consort. She was busy teaching the mare like Twilight's friends had taught her. Trixie was a bit old for it, but she hadn't let anyone close enough to help her before now. Trixie whined gently as Twilight watched. "B-But... But she's teasing Trixe...!" Celestia opened her mouth only to have Twilight interrupt her. "Princess it's alright..." Celestia raised an eyebrow at Twilight, Celestia wasn't sure she appreciated her lesson being interrupted but the outburst had been directed at Twilight so she should get a say. "Trixie and I have not had the best past and... I would have meant that not too long ago." Celestia moved a foreleg protectively around Trixie pulling her in just a little closer and Twilight smiled. "But I'm being genuine Trixie, I am glad you're happy here. Oh and side note, me and Starlight aren't a thing anymore." Trixie looked hesitantly at Twilight then glanced up at Celestia, who wasn't giving her any indication of the proper course of action so Trixie nodded a bit apprehensive. "Oh... Uh... Thank you Twilight Sparkle..." Trixie shifted a little nervously, unsure of what to say next then an idea striking her. "Isn't Trixie's new cape magnificent!?" At that both Twilight and Celestia giggled at the obvious change of subjects. Celestia raised her leg to release Trixie, allowing Trixie to strut around showing off her new cape. It was a very beautiful cape, however, it caused Twilight to catch a glimpse of something she thought was unusual, lifting the edge of the cape with her magic she snickered and raised an eyebrow at Trixie. "Doesn't it get warm with it being lined like that?" Trixie blushed and pulled the cape out of Twilight's magical grasp. "It's her napping cape Twilight," Celestia answered the question like this was the most normal thing in the world for Trixie to have. Twilight smiled and nodded. "Oh good! I'm glad it has a purpose, how many new capes do you have now Trixie?" Trixie looked to the side mumbling something. "What was that Trixie?" "Trixie has... Eighteen new ones," Trixie flinched when Twilight snickered gently. "With six more on the way precious," Celestia added most helpfully. Twilight grinned at Trixie. "Celestia sure does like to spoil you doesn't she?" Trixie opened her mouth to retort but Celestia beat her to it. "Oh? And how many first editions did my best student just "have to have" to complete her studies properly?" Trixie couldn't suppress her loud guffaw, smiling widely as Twilight blushed brightly, grumbling. "That's different." Celestia grinned widely and answered. "You're right, they were way more expensive." Trixie continued to snicker as she climbed back up the steps and nestled back into Celestia's little cavern for her. Celestia looked at the blushing and slightly annoyed Twilight, smiling kindly at her. "But of course you can look through the library to try and find that cure for your friend." Twilight sparkled brightened up and smiled "Thank you, princess! I'll go right there!" She turned to start trotting out but then remember, turning back and waving at both of them. "Goodbye Princess, goodbye Trixie." CElestia smiled. "Goodbye Twilight, do come to say goodbye before you leave." "Of course Princess," Twilight answered as she started to trot out. "Goodbye Twilight!" Trixie waved her foreleg a little more enthusiastically than usual, maybe Twilight Sparkle wasn't so bad after all. > Trixie's Favorite Spot To Play > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Trixie smiled as she looked about, double checking the area and nodding, she was alone. She grinned and leaned down, putting her rump in the air and pouncing forwards onto the small teddy bear she'd set up, saying in a mock voice. "Oh, no! The great and powerful Trixie has defeated me!" Trixie nodded as she batted the teddy bear across the lawn, adopting her normal voice. "That's right ursa major! The great and powerful Trixie could not be vanquished by your pathetic powers and puny claws!" She grinned as she pounced on it again, this was always fun, though not something she was willing to do in front of other ponies, it was too childish to let others know about. Luna looked over the garden, smiling down as she spied on Trixie. The adorable young pony was playing with that teddy bear again. At least she wasn't snuggling it, that made Luna feel a bit better about Celestia taking her as consort. But... Trixie just seemed so young. It was really not her fault, like Celestia had told her Trixie had a troubled childhood and had never really had friends until recently. She still had some emotional issues. The poor girl was a mixture of adult and teenager, maybe with some little bit younger mixed it there. But she was also very pretty, and her issues made her prone to being quite adorable at times, and quite... Annoying at others. Luna did not have Celestia's patience for the newest consort. Luna couldn't put her hoof on why she was normally quite capable of dealing with younger ponies. Maybe it was the strange dichotomy in Trixie, the mare and the filly combined made her feel a bit strange when interacting with the magician. But she did like to see how happy it made her sister to have the cute young pony with her at almost all times, that was well worth the way that Trixie made her uncomfortable. The mare was mostly perfectly nice. Well, not perfectly, she had her moods. But Celestia was usually there and she was actually surprisingly strict with the young mare. Luna smiled, maybe Trixie was as good for Celestia as well. She crossed her hooves and smiled a little as she watched the mare jumping about like a little maniac. She was cute though... "Spying on Trixie again are we?" Luna stiffened instantly and looked back to see her sister entering. Luna rolled her eyes. "It is improper to enter a princess' room without knocking!" Celestia chuckled as she walked up next to her sister, to spy on Trixie as well. "She is adorable isn't she Luna?" Luna scoffed but nodded. "She does have a certain attraction to her sister dear." Celestia smiled, raising an eyebrow at Luna. "Oh? A certain attraction? You haven't thought of inviting her to spend the day in your chambers have you?" "Sister! Really! I..." Luna cleared her throat. "I would never think to do such an improper thing. We princess' have a certain standard of behavior that we must live up to." Celestia snickered, she was never as stuffy as her sister, and also that excuse made no sense on its face. "Sister, she is the royal consort. That's literally what the position is for." Luna rolled her eyes at her sister. "Really sister, simply because you feel the need to bed any cute mare that comes across your path does not mean that I feel the need to do so." Celestia scowled at her sister and Luna raised a hoof. "My apologies sister. I forgot how much you hate that joke. You care about all your consorts." Celestia smiled, and leaned in, whispering into Luna's ear. "Our consort sister." Luna blushed gently. "Sister I do not intend to... Consort with your consort!" Celestia smiled. "Is that why you've spied on her every time she comes out to play?" Luna opened her mouth to protest and Celestia shook her head at her sister. "She is the royal consort, not my consort sister." Luna flushed a little brighter when she was reminded of that technicality. Luna had always been more traditional than her sister. "I'm not going to... Consort with you and Trixie sister!" Celestia smiled, shaking her head. "I wasn't suggesting -that- Luna. Just... That cuddling with Trixie for a few days could be good for you... I note you haven't taken a lover since you returned..." Luna rolled her eyes and shook her head once. "You don't need to keep tabs on my love life sister! And don't you think that having another... Princess to consort with would hurt the poor thing? As you say she's not entirely emotionally mature." Celestia smiled. "See, you do care a lot for her, you're concerned for her emotional well being." Luna flushed a little brighter. "I care for all our subjects!" "Also true. But do I really need to list all the times I've caught you staring at that cute blue mare?" Luna huffed and walked back into her room from the balcony. 'I don't know what you're talking about sister now really I must request that you leave, I must finish napping before the evening." Celestia smirked, it seems her sister wasn't willing to admit her affection for the new consort, she'd just have to force her hand... Even if it was less than kind to do so, it would be better for her sister to get that out in the public, at least to herself. "Of course sis... Oh no! Trixie!? She's collapsed!" Celestia liked to think she did a decent enough act of sounding concerned, unlike when Twilight was putting on that play... Luna obviously believed it well enough as she bolted back to the balcony, and Celestia grinned, that was until Luna didn't stop, she lept over the railing flapping a few times to slow herself enough to keep from getting hurt but hitting the ground hard next to a completely fine Trixie. Celestia wondered if she might not have gone a little too far... Trixie for her part would claim that she had been completely calm and didn't react in any way that wasn't appropriate. "WHA!? WH... Princess Luna!?" Trixie tossed the stuffed bear over her head and blushed as it fell on top of a nearby hedge, looking shifty and trying to shift to the side to block it from Luna's view. "What... What can the great and powerful Trixie do for you princess...?" Luna took a moment to collect her thoughts. "Nothing Trixie. I was just planning to go for a walk through the garden! But then I remembered that I must do something else first." "Ahh! Well... Don't let Trixie keep you." Luna gave a curt nod and quickly lifted off, flying back up to her balcony and a grinning Celestia, speaking as Luna landed. "See? You do care a lot about her." That had turned out better than Celestia could have hoped now that she had a moment to think about it, and wasn't just watching her sister jump off balconies. "That was low sister." "I know, but it proved that you do care about her." Luna sighed and nodded. "I still say it's a bad idea! You said she's vulnerable." "I said she was needy. Trixie loves attention." Celestia grinned as she walked to the door. "Think about how much happier she'll be with two princesses' giving her attention?" And with that Celestia walked out, leaving Luna to stew in her own ideas... Then Luna let out a loud groan realizing why she had such little patience with Trixie, because she wasn't allowed to, or at least hadn't allowed herself to enjoy the cute magician! It was the old tail in the ink well thing... Really? Luna felt like a foal herself for giving way to such an obvious piece of redirection from her own emotions.
