> Half-Breed > by DrapeWrites > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Chapter One > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "You're never going to beat me," shouted Rumble, further than me. We were having our daily race before school starts and he always won. I never really can beat him because I can't use my human form here in equestria. I'm Taylor, I don't have a last name, but I know that I am a Half-Breed. Half-Breeds are one species combined with another, and they are extremely rare to come by. Basically, all of them work for Princess Celestia (except for me of course). A reason I don't work for Celestia, is because I don't show my human form. If I did, I probably wouldn't be writing this as of now. EVERY Half-Breed is required to work there or else they are put into the dungeon. I don't know what the dungeon is, but I sure know I don't want to find out. Anyways, back to the race. Probably one of the reasons Rumble was winning is because he can fly. My pony form is an Unicorn, sure I can run fast, but not as fast as Rumble can fly. I can't keep running at this pace. I thought while running. It was true, but also a blatant lie. I could run faster, IF I was a human, but like I said, I can't use that form here. I'm about to pass out when the bell rings. Thank Celestia! I stop and immediately trip, I lay there for a few minutes, relaxing myself. Rumble floats over to me and helps me up. He smirks the whole time. He also helps dust me off. "Well looks like I win again!" boasts Rumble. I punch him playfully on the shoulder, and he punches back. We both laugh as we head to Miss Cherilee's middle school class. We walk into the room and Rumble takes his seat (usually in the front so he can see the board better) and I take my seat in the back. I pull out my sketchbook to doodle something to pass the time. Soon everyone is in the classroom. "Alright class I will be taking attendance! But first I would like to introduce a new student!" Announces Miss Cherilee. I look up to see this new pony, intrested in who would be taking the seat to the left of me. The seat was vacant for a good while, ever since Scootaloo moved out of Ponyville. "Introduce yourself dear." says Miss Cherilee. The brown filly had red hair and freckles on her cheeks. "My name is Babs, Babs Seed," said the new filly. I guess of the top of my head that she's southern, she was really shy, and it was very noticeable. "Take your seat Babs," she quickly sits down right next to me. I glance over at her as she pulls out her notebook, ready for the lecture. I decide to put mine up and take mine out as well as Miss Cherilee takes attendance. We did a lesson on cinquains and haikus, I personally took enjoyment of it, as writing is actually my favorite subject. "You have to make sure you have eight syllables in the fourth line of your cinquain." she explains to the whole class. I'm busy taking notes down as she is saying this. This is a different change of pace from what she usually teaches. I think. I let my mind wonder to when I should do my exams, I only had until the end of summer and I mostly pushed the work off. Taylor! I quickly snap my head up as I realize that I was being asked how many syllables were in the second line of a haiku. "Three." The class bursts in laughter at how dumb I am. I would've said seven but I blurted out the quickest answer that came to mind. Miss Cherilee shakes her head. I slump down and quickly flip my hoodie up and pull the strings to close the hood part. I couldn't wait more than I wanted to then to be out of school for the summer. I didn't answer any more questions after. The bell finally rung, and I got up slowly (even though I wanted to be out of there as fast as I could) and walked over to Rumble as he packed his stuff up so we could walk home together. He got up, grabbed his backpack and we walked out of school. We walked in silence for a long time, which wasn't Rumble at all. He usually started the conversation first since I didn't really ever have anything interesting to talk about. Then he drops a bombshell. "I have to move," I look at him and his head is pointed towards the ground. "Why do you?" I inquire. "My parents can't afford to keep me up here by myself anymore, it sucks." More Silence. "Where are you going to move then? I thought your parents couldn't have you with them since they work a lot?" This was actually true, his parents worked 24/7 and never were home. "With Thunderlane in Cloudsale," he looked back at the ground when he said this. "Can't he just move here?" I was really confused at the moment. "He doesn't want to." Rumble mumbled. Even more silence. "When [i[do you move then?" I really hoped it was at the end of the summer, because we were going to visit so many places. "Tomorrow." He looked back down at the ground and wouldn't say anything else. We arrived at his house shortly after his news. "See you around Taylor." He said, almost sounding depressed. He punched me on the arm playfully, for probably the last time ever. I return the favor, and we both smile. "Deuces." I walk to Sweet Apple Acres for my pickup of Granny Smiths. Applejack is waiting for me there. "Hey pardner. Here's them Granny Smiths you done asked for," she said, smirking. "Thanks AJ," I say. "No problem, now get yourself on home before it rains." She walks back into her house where the rest of her family probably is right now. I end up running home with the basket in my mouth, being careful not to drop any of the apples. I get inside just in time before the rain starts. That's when I finally change into my human form. I close the blinds and lock the doors, go into my room, and collapse on my bed, fully naked, crying. -Chapter 1 End-
