A Handsome Stranger

Rainbow Dash waited anxiously at the door, fidgeting with the envelope in her hands. Debating whether or not to go through with her plan, or to just head home. "Come on, Rainbow! You got this." She muttered to herself. Trying to gain some confidence. "No need to be nervous..she'll say yes! I know she will. But..what if she doesn't? What if she says no? I'll never be able to show my face again! Celestia, that would be embarrassing."

"Should I call it all off?" Rainbow hesitated for a moment, she inhaled, then exhaled.

" No, I can't back out now! I can do this!" Rainbow's hand was just inches away from the door. She knocked gently. She heard a familiar voice, "coming!" And a few moments later, her eyes met with a familiar face.

"Oh! Hello Rainbow, I didn't know you were coming. If I did, I would've made you some tea, or something!" A warm smile greeted Rainbow, and it put her at ease.

"No worries, Twi. I don't even like tea that much anyways. I'd prefer coffee." Rainbow stepped inside. She had been at Twilight's place multiple times before, and every time, she'd always take it all in. Twilight's place always had a faint scent of old books. She liked it.

"So, what could I help you with? Did you want to borrow another one of my Daring Do books from my collection?" Twilight asked her.

"No actually..." Rainbow looked for the right words to say, when suddenly, there was another knock on the door. "I wonder who could that be.." Twilight reached for the door knob, and turned it.

A boy who looked to be around the girls' age stepped in. Rainbow could tell he was good- looking, but of course she'd never admit it. After all, she was here for Twilight. Not some handsome stranger.

Twilight however, took in the veiw. She had never met anyone so...breath-taking.

"Good evening, I'm here to deliver a letter to..Miss Twilight Sparkle?" He said. Twilight wasn't even paying attention, she was too busy starring.

"This is Twilight." Rainbow pointed over to Twilight, and when she did so, she saw her dazed expression.

"Twi? You alright?" Rainbow said, totally oblivious to the situation. "Oh! Um..yes?" Twilight broke out of her trance.

Rainbow pointed her head towards the stranger. "Right..how may I help you?" Twilight said, with a cheerful tone and smile.

" You are..Miss Twilight Sparkle?" The stranger repeated.

"That's me!" Twilight chuckled nervously. "So..um.."

"I have this letter, it's for you."

"Oh! For me?"

"Wait a second, why didn't you use the mailbox? It's not like she doesn't have one, you know." Rainbow pointed out. After hearing her own words, she winced. It may have come out a bit rude. She wasn't trying to be mean.

"Rainbow Dash! Be nice." Twilight shushed her.

"Well, uh.. this letter was requested to be given to Twilight Sparkle directly." The stranger said.

"Yeah, whatever." Rainbow rolled her eyes. Twilight glared at her.

"I'll just leave this here." The stranger put the envelope on a nearby table, and headed for the door.

"Wait! I didn't even catch your," Twilight called after him, but it was too late, he was already gone. "Name." Twilight sighed.

"Wasn't he dreamy?" Twilight turned to face Rainbow. "Wha-dreamy? As if I'd ever date someone like him. He's not even that attractive.." Rainbow didn't look impressed. "Wait a second...don't tell me you..." Rainbow was finally catching on to what was going on, and she didn't like the looks of it. "You can't like him!"

"Why not?" Twilight looked confused. "B-because, I said so!" Rainbow blurted out. She realized she sounded pretty stupid.

"What? You can't tell me who I can or can't like! I would never judge you for something like that!" Twilight was now annoyed, and a little angry at Rainbow.

"Hey! It's not like that! I'm just saying, he's...not good enough for you." Rainbow didn't like where this was going. She didn't want to start a fight.

"How would you know?" Twilight snapped.

"I just...do, alright?" Rainbow shot back.

"Ugh... Look, I'm not going to fight with you. So if you don't mind, please just..........go." Twilight pointed towards the door.

"Go? You can't just kick me out!" Rainbow looked very upset, she still hadn't told Twilight about her feelings towards her.

"Rainbow, please." Twilight once again, pointed towards the door.

"Fine! I'll leave!" Rainbow stormed out of the house. She ran to her own home, and jumped onto her bed. She didn't even bother to change into the proper attire.

The tears she was holding back before, trickled down her face, as she cuddled up with Tank. Maybe, Twilight and I aren't made for each other...after all.

"Have y'all seen Rainbow t'day?" Aj asked everyone at the lunch table that day. Rainbow Dash was the only one who didn't show up. Everyone just shrugged and shook their heads.

"No I haven't. She wasn't even at PE today." Rarity said. "We were even doing dodgeball! It's one of her favorites.

"Ah know, it's weird ain't it? She loves PE. Especially when we're playing dodgeball that day. She'd never miss it." Aj commented.

"You think she's sick? She was acting kinda...off....yesterday." Sunset pointed out. Everyone silently nodded in agreement.

"I hope she's alright! What is something bad happened to her? Something absolutely, dreadfully, awful?" Fluttershy shivered at the thought. "Ah'm sure she's fine, no need ta worry Fluttershy!" Aj assured her. "Oh I hope you're right, Aj. It would be awful if something did happen to her. I can't afford to lose a friend! Especially one I've known since before I could walk and talk!"

"Fluttershy is right, darling. It would be just awful! I mean, I wouldn't have the remaining person I need to model my new clothing line! And I made it to fit her personality, too! That would be just terrible!" Rarity said. Her comment received glares from each of the girls. "I-I mean...I'm concerned about her own well being, too!" Rarity gave a nervous laugh, and soon made the rest of the girls giggle along with her.

"I'm Star Hunter."

"Maybe...I should apologize?" Rainbow wondered aloud. She was out for a stroll at Canterlot Park, she came to clear her head, and think about things. She didn't care that she was missing school. It's not like she even wanted to face Twilight, anyway. "Not in a sappy way of course. Maybe I..could.....I could get revenge? Like, like a prank or something? Nah, I want her to like me, not hate me."

Rainbow stopped walking as she sat down on a nearby bench. She let the breeze run through her hair. She liked to visit this park often. It was a great place to bike, run, or just walk around. She also liked to ride her skateboard around, too. It was a great place for reading, too. Sometimes, she even fished. She never caught anything, though.

"I'll talk to her, eventually."

Rainbow took out a Daring Do book from her bag. She always carried one, just incase she'd ever get bored. She flipped through the pages, and stopped once she got to the desired page. She spent about a half an hour reading.

Her little reading session was interrupted when she heard a familiar voice approaching. It was him. Oh boy.

"Oh hey, you're...uh...Rainbow Dash! Nice to meet you..again. I'm Star Hunter." He greeted Rainbow.

"Yeah, yeah. Whatever, nice to meet you, again. I guess." Rainbow Dash said. "So...you like Daring Do?" Star Hunter asked her, when he noticed the title of the book she was reading. "Yeah..I do. You familiar with the series?" Rainbow was curious.

"Who doesn't? I have the whole collection. All signed by A.K. Yearling herself!" Star Hunter looked proud.

"Heh, I do too. Well....except for the latest one. That one's a special edition, it's hard to get. I'm trying to talk Twilight into letting me loan that one."

Maybe he isn't so bad. Rainbow thought. She was soon to regret her thoughts, and the fact that she brought up Twilight.

"So, um..tell me more about your friend Twilight. She was...really, really pretty." Star Hunter's face started to heat up.

I spoke to soon.

"Pfft, I wouldn't get your hopes up If I were you, you know." Rainbow said, trying to get him to stop thinking about Twilight. "She's really not worth it, she can be...a jerk.. sometimes. Besides, I don't think you're her type. She's not into..people like you..."

"Oh...um..okay.." Star Hunter looked really disappointed and hurt. Rainbow almost felt bad for him. She decided to just leave.

"Anyway, gotta dash! Heh, dash. Anyways, see ya... um...Star Hunter." Rainbow left hurting Star Hunter all alone on the bench.

Ugh, this is bad. So they both fancy each other? I mean, come on! They just met, like what, yesterday? That's like...WAY to fast, even for me. I mean, I've known Twilight for YEARS and she still hasn't noticed me in a romantic way. There's no such thing as love at first sight, that's just crazy. Rainbow stopped. She scratched her head, and thought for a moment.

Is there?

Twilight was in her house, dusting the dusty bookshelves. She couldn't help but think of the handsome stranger she met the other day.

I wish I at least I knew his name. She thought. Then I could move forward from there. Oh! I should've gotten his contact information.

A few dust particles landed on Twilight's nose, and she sneezed, but she continued dusting the shelves, she couldn't stand an untidy place. Or anything untidy, really.

Then, her mind filled up with images of her close friend, Rainbow Dash. She felt a tingling feeling growing in her chest. I should talk to her, at least. I hate fighting with her, she's my best friend.

As she was just about to finish up dusting, she heard a knock on the door. She went to go open it, hoping it was the handsome stranger. To her surprise, it was Rainbow Dash.

"Hey Twilight....look, I'm sorry about the other day. I didn't mean to-" Rainbow started, but was taken aback when Twilight leaped and hugged her. "I'm sorry." She said.

The two broke from the hug and stood in comfortable silence for awhile. Rainbow looked around. She decided to break the silence. "Were you dusting? I can help if you want." She offered. "No thanks, I wouldn't want to make my guest work for me. Besides, I was just about to finish." Twilight politely declined, and continued dusting.

"Oh okay.." Rainbow took a seat on Twilight's couch. "Do you want anything to drink? I could make some lemonade." Twilight offered.

"That'd be nice, thanks." Rainbow accepted the offer. Twilight headed to the kitchen and came back a moment later with two glasses full of lemonade. She handed one to Rainbow.

"Mmm! This is great. I didn't know you could make lemonade this good." Rainbow licked her lips. "Glad you like it!" Twilight giggled. "My mom taught me how, she learned it from her mom, who learned it from her mom, who learned it- oh you get it! My point is, it's been in the family." Twilight said. Rainbow nodded.

"I kinda have something I want to talk about, Twi." Rainbow avoided Twilight's gaze.

"Oh? What is it?"

" Well, I..kinda...sorta...maybe..." Rainbow tried to tell her everything, but for some reason she couldn't get the words out of her mouth.

"Spill it, Rainbow. Something's on your mind. I'm here, I'll understand."

I have a crush on you Twi, I always have. Well, it wasn't so serious back when I barely knew you, but now, your all I think about. I'm just afraid it'll ruin our friendship, I mean, you seem to have taken interest in Star Hunter, so I don't think I even have a chance. Is what Rainbow wanted to say, but she couldn't bring herself to do it.

"It's nothing, really." Rainbow said instead. Maybe I'll tell you one day.. She sighed.

"You sure?" Twi asked.

Rainbow nodded. "Yup! I'm sure, I'm very sure. I'm so sure I'm....sure as a....whatever is really sure about something. Rainbow said nervously. "Now, could I get more of that lemonade?"

ONE WEEK LATER

"Is she still obsessing over that boy? It's been over a week!" Rarity whispered to Pinkie. All the of the EG squad were at their usual lunch table, by the window. Twilight was off in her own fantasy world, probably thinking about him. "She can't help it, Rarity! It's true love." Pinkie declared.

Rainbow Dash was pretty quiet too, she was busy thinking about her own things. Like, how she's going to win Twilight over. It's been over a week since they met Star Hunter, and no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't get Twilight to stop thinking about him. Twilight already told the rest of the gang about her little crush on the guy she never even got another chance to see. She still doesn't even know his name! Rainbow Dash knew his name, from meeting him a couple days ago, but she'll never tell. If Twilight knew his name, it'll be easier for them to meet again, and she didn't want that.

Rainbow Dash heard Rarity's and Pinkie's little conversation, and it made her feel even worse. Twilight will never like me.. She thought.

"Twilight, snap out of it. Ya've been dazed off for five minutes now!" Applejack waved her hands in front of Twilight's face, it seemed to work. "Oh, sorry guys. I-I...I'm just tired, that's all." Twilight chuckled nervously.

"Yeah right! You're probably thinking about that guy again. Tell us more about him!" Sunset Shimmer giggled.

"Alright..well..I only met him once. From what I can remember, he had messy blue hair, and beautiful blue eyes. I can't really remember much besides that." Twilight tried to cover up her face with the her two hands. Thinking about him made her blush.

Rainbow Dash had enough of this talk about him, so she decided to leave. "Guys, I just remembered I forgot something really important that I have to do, so I'll meet up with you later. Bye!" True to her name, she dashed off pretty quickly.

"Well she was in quite the rush. What's up with her lately?" Sunset asked as she watched the rainbow-haired high schooler exit the cafeteria.

"I don't know..maybe Rainbow Dash just wants to study in the library?" Fluttershy suggested. "We have that big biology test today."

"Ya sure we're talkin' 'bout the same Rainbow Dash? She never studies until the last minute." Aj said. Everyone nodded in agreement. "Ah'm sure she's fine. She'd tell us if somethin' was botherin' her."

Everyone went back to talking about Twilight's crush, pestering her with silly questions about him.

"This is going to be a long day.." Twilight sighed.

Rainbow Dash didn't have something important to do. She just wanted to get away from all the talk about Star Hunter. Right now she was sitting at the roots of a tree. It was another popular and great spot to relax and think.

That guy drives me nuts. And I've only met him twice!

As if on cue, the one person Dash wanted to see the least, approached her. "Hey, you look sad, I can practically see a storm cloud hovering over your head. What's up?"

Rainbow looked up and saw Star Hunter. Great, it's him.

"What are you doing here? This is school grounds, you shouldn't be here." Rainbow snapped. Hopefully, that will make him want to go away.

"Actually, I attend this school."

That definitely caught Rainbow's attention. "You attend Canterlot High?"

Ugh, just what I needed..now they're obviously going to meet again. Why are all the odds not in my favor?

"Yeah, I do. I transferred here in December." Star Hunter explained.

"I guess I didn't see you around. Welcome to our school...I guess." Rainbow gave a half-hearted welcome.

"Hey, what's up with you?"

"Excuse me?" Rainbow didn't know if that was an insult, or a question.

"What's up with you? Whenever I talk to you, you're very...how do I say this nicely? Rude." Star Hunter said.

"Well, I....Ugh! Can you just leave me alone? Nobody asked you! My life isn't any of your business!" Rainbow Dash regretted what she said as soon as she heard her own words, and saw Star Hunter's hurt expression.

I really should stop doing that to him. She thought to herself.

"Oh..I see. Um.. I'll leave you to yourself then." Star Hunter turned to leave, but stopped when Rainbow called after him.

" Hey wait! Look, I'm really sorry," she began. "I don't mean to come off as rude..I. I'm just having one heck of a week."

"It's okay, I have times like that, too." Star Hunter sat down besides Rainbow. The two sat there, on the grass, in comfortable silence for a few minutes.

He's so sweet and understanding. No wonder Twi likes him. It'll be hard to win her over, when this is my competition.

Suddenly, the bell rang. All the CHS students that were spending their lunch break time outdoors went inside, leaving Rainbow Dash and Star Hunter alone.

Good thing I like a challenge.

"What's it called when a cell multiplies by dividing itself into two parts?"

Rainbow Dash was in the classroom, taking the biology test she obviously didn't come prepared for.

Man, I'm so screwed. Why didn't I study?

Rainbow Dash caught a glimpse of Twilight through the corner of her eye.

Wonder what she's thinking about.. Twilight seemed to be very focused on her test.

Probably the test...she's so smart. One thing I like about her, she's not ashamed of being an egghead. Rainbow Dash chuckled. She tried to focus on the test, but failed. Twilight was too distracting. A very cute and adorable egghead.. She smiled. A soon-to-be mine, egghead.

"Rainbow Danger Dash!"

That caught her attention.

"Y-yes, ma'am?"

"Stop starring at Ms. Sparkle for once, and focus on finishing your test. You only have seventeen minutes left."

Rainbow Dash could hear snickers from around the classroom. She could feel her face burning up.

"Yes ma'am, sorry ma'am."

Mitosis, that's the answer... Rainbow hesitated for a moment.

I...think.

"First Impressions Aren't Everything......Right?"

Every Saturday, early in the morning, Twilight would go for a nice, long, walk, at her favorite park. It was her dear friend Rainbow Dash's favorite park too. Dash is the one who recommended it to Twilight. Twilight liked to walk at this particular time because it wasn't as crowded or loud, and the golden light coming from the rising sun made things ten times as beautiful.

It was always the same routine. Twilight would come to walk around the entire park once, have a picnic lunch there, read a little of whatever book she was reading at the time, and left.

But today was just a little different.

Today, she saw someone she had been dying to see again. The someone who made her believe in 'love at first sight'.

That very someone was just walking past. It had been a quite a while since the two had met, but Twilight could recognize those majestic and beautiful sky blue eyes anywhere, any day. She saw the someone of her dreams.

He saw her too, their eyes met for a moment. Then, he started to approach her. Twilight was a nervous wreck. Did her hair look okay? Should she have put on some makeup that day? Was her outfit too formal, or not formal enough? Did it look like she actually got the recommended eight hours of sleep last night?

All those questions didn't matter, because he was right there, standing in front of her.

Is it me, or does he look even more breath-taking than last time?

"Hey, you're that girl. Twilight Sparkle." His voice was so soothing, she could listen to him talk all day.

Twilight opened her mouth, but couldn't get the words out. "Y-yeah," She finally managed to choke out.

"Nice to finally meet you again! I'm Star Hunter." He said.

Star Hunter? Where have I heard that name before?

"I'm Twilight Sparkle, but I suppose you already knew that. I mean, you just said so yourself, just now. So...yeah.."

What's wrong with you Twilight? Pull yourself together.

"We met a few weeks ago, when I delivered that letter." Star Hunter changed the subject.

"Yeah. No offense, but I don't really take you as a mail man kind of guy." Twilight said.

"Yeah...me neither. I was helping out my uncle that day. He has a daughter, which makes her my cousin. You might know her. Her name is Derpy Hooves."

"Yeah I know her! She's the one with the...um...eyes." Twilight giggled.

"Heh, yeah." Twilight and Star Hunter sat in silence. Twilight couldn't help but steal glances towards Star Hunter. Hopefully he didn't catch her staring. If he did, he didn't seem to mind it.

He is the cutest person I have ever met!

"So, um...your friend Rainbow Dash. I met her again, twice actually. She talked about you." Star Hunter broke the silence.

"Good things, I hope?" She met with him, and she didn't even tell me? Is there something I'm missing here?

"Well...not exactly."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Twilight's smile faded.

"She said that sometimes... 'you can be a jerk'." Star Hunter said.

"What? She said I can be a jerk?" Twilight looked angry.

I can't believe she said those things about me. Why would she do that?

"Don't worry, I don't believe her. I think you're an amazing person, and I've only met you once before."

Those words made Twilights cheeks burn bright red. "T-thank you."

Suddenly, a faint ringing sound was heard. Twilight soon realized it was coming from Star Hunter's pocket. Star Hunter grabbed his phone out of his pocket.

"Sorry, I gotta take this..It's uh..um..my mom, yeah my mom." Star Hunter walked a few feet away from Twilight. Twilight didn't mean to eavesdrop, but she couldn't help but over hear the conversation. Or parts of it, anyway.

"Hey. No, no, I'm not doing anything that important right now."

"Look, I'm sorry I left you like that, okay?"

"Yeah, yeah, of course. I'll be there in ten. Don't worry."

Star Hunter hung up, and turned to Twilight.

"Hey, I uh..I gotta go. Here's my cellphone number. You can text me anytime you want." Star Hunter quickly scribbled some numbers onto a piece of paper, and gave it to Twilight.

Then he turned and left, leaving Twilight all alone.

Something was off about him. Almost like he didn't want to be here...

Scratching her head full of pink, violet, and blue locks of hair, Twilight wondered if Star Hunter was really all that.

"He was probably just in a hurry. After all, first impressions aren't everything."

"Right?"

On Monday morning, Twilight was really excited to tell all of her friends that she met Star Hunter out of school just the other day. Before she could do that, however, she wanted to talk to Rainbow Dash about something first.

"Hey Rainbow?" Twilight said when she reached Dash's locker.

"Huh? Oh. Hey Twi." Rainbow was caught off guard by Twilight's voice.

"I wanted to talk about something."

"Oh. Yeah sure, what is it?"

"You see, I met Star Hunter on Saturday and he said-"

"Hold up. You actually met him? And on Saturday?" Rainbow looked gloomier than ever as soon as she heard that news.

"Yeah. Is there a problem?"

"Nope....no problem at all. Continue, what did he say?"

"He said that you said I....can be a 'jerk' sometimes. Do you really think that? Have I been doing something to upset you? If I'm being a bad friend, you could just let me know." Twilight looked a little uneasy. The question made Rainbow feel uneasy too.

"Well...I..um..I think that sometimes-" Rainbow was about to come up with a response, but just then, the bell rang.

Saved by the bell... Rainbow thought.

"We'll have to continue this discussion later. I'll see you in biology...." Twilight hurried off to Advanced Physics, which was her next class.

So they met, huh? And he told her what I said about her? Man, I'm never trusting this guy again.

"Cut the act Rainbow, I know what's going on."

"I need advice."

Rainbow Dash had called three of her close friends, Fluttershy, Rarity, and Pinkie over. She thought that those three of her six friends would be good people to talk to about her little situation. Fluttershy can comfort her, Pinkie can make her laugh, and Rarity, well, she's knows just about everything about romance. Also, Applejack and Sunset were too busy to come.

"What kind of advice?" Fluttershy asked.

"Love...advice." Rainbow squeaked.

Everyone was surprised by Dash's answer. Rainbow wasn't really the type of person to want to get involved with the subject of 'romance', but then again, she has been acting strange lately.

"Let's say....you like someone. The day you want to confess to that someone, they fall in love with someone else. What would you do?" Rainbow questioned her friends. Fluttershy was the first to answer.

"Well, I would talk to the person I liked. I'd tell them about my feelings towards them. Then, we would work it out from there."

"That's surprising. Considering you're the shy one. " Rainbow replied.

"There's a lot of things about me you don't know, Dashie."

"Well, I don't feel ready to talk about my feelings just yet," Dash said.

Rarity's answer was; "I would bedazzle that someone, and win them over with my superior fashion sense."

"Yeah, but I'm the one who's in this situation, and If you haven't noticed, I don't have much of a 'fashion sense' Rainbow said as she clearly showed off her plain white t-shirt and jeans to emphasize her point.

Pinkie was next to respond. "I know! You could get rid of your someone's, someone! Get them out of the picture! So the only one left for your someone to choose is you! I have a lot of ideas on how to- "

"No! No way Pinkie! I may not be very fond of 'my someone's, someone' but I'm not going to do that! What are you thinking?"

Everyone was a little shaken up by Pinkie's response.

Hopefully my friend isn't some sort of serial killer. Rainbow thought. Her thoughts matched those of the rest of the girls.

Pinkie Pie didn't seem to understand why everyone was so shocked with her suggestion. "What? I was just suggesting she make one someone disinterested in the other someone, so her someone's, someone wouldn't be a problem anymore. What do you think I meant? "

"Pinkie! You're a genius!" Rainbow said.

"I know."

"One minor problem, how are you going to do it?" Rarity asked.

Rainbow thought about it for a moment. "I...I got nothing."

"How about you get one someone to think the other someone is already seeing someone! That way your someone and their someone won't get together!" Pinkie suggested.

"Pinkie, are you sure that's a good idea?" Fluttershy said.

"It's an awesome idea! It's almost like as if Pinkie has experience in breaking up couples." Rainbow chuckled at the thought of her pink friend being a professional couple breaker-upper.

"Experience? I don't have experience! W-what gave you that idea?"

Twilight punched in some numbers into her mobile phone and held her breath as she waited for the person on the other end to pick up.

No answer.

She tried again. No answer.

A couple tries later she finally gave up and put the phone down.

Sigh

Twilight sat for a few minutes, there on her bed, and slowly closed her eyes.

She thought about Star Hunter, then her mind shifted to her friend Rainbow Dash. She hadn't gotten a chance to talk to her since their little chat at Rainbow's locker on the previous day. She wanted to talk to her, but she had forgotten she had a big assignment that day and spent a big chunk of her time at the library. She thought about how Rainbow had been acting lately; weird.

Now that she thought about, Rainbow has been acting weird ever since...

"That's it!"

Twilight quickly got dressed into the appropriate attire and headed to her good friend Dash's house.

Knock knock.

Rainbow heard a knock at her door. She peeped through the window to see who it was. Maybe it was the pizza she ordered?

Not pizza, but a friend of hers. Twilight Sparkle.

Rainbow Dash debated whether or not to open the door or pretend she wasn't home.

"Rainbow! I know you're in there!" shouted Twilight. "Please let me in! It's cold out here."

Well looks like pretending she wasn't home wasn't an option anymore. Rainbow sighed and unlocked her door. "Finally!" Twilight stepped in.

"So, mind telling me why you're here? At this time?" Rainbow remarked.

"I just wanted to talk." Twilight sat down on one of Rainbow's old couches.

"About?"

There was a pause.

"Look, ever since Star Hunter came into my life, our lives, you've been acting weird. Definitely not yourself."

Rainbow's heart rate started to speed up. Had Twilight finally figured it out?

"W-what do you mean? I don't feel different." Rainbow tried to hide her nervousness, but that was easier said than done.

"Cut the act Rainbow, I know what's going on. I can't believe I hadn't noticed it before."

Looks like I won't need Pinkie's plan after all... Rainbow thought to herself. Twilight continued after taking a deep breath. "Rainbow, just know I'm really, really, sorry. Okay? I should've known that you liked Star Hunter, but I was so caught up in everything that I-"

"Star Hunter?" Rainbow had a look of disbelief upon her face.

"Yes. If I knew you liked him-"

"Star Hunter?" Rainbow repeated.

"Yes....you do like him, right? That's why you were saying I was a jerk to him, to get him to not like me?"

"No! You think that I like him? Seriously? After all this time, you come up with that solution? I don't like Star Hunter. I don't care about him! It's very much the opposite! It would be a joy to see him go!" Rainbow let out all the emotions that she had been bottling up inside of her for the past few weeks. Twilight looked very uneasy, but Rainbow continued."I can't believe it! You just don't understand do you? You'll NEVER understand! Get out of my house! I don't want to see you right now.." Rainbow started crying as soon as she finished her little outbreak.

Twilight began to tear up too, which made Rainbow cry even more. "Alright...okay...I'll just...leave.

And she did, she left, leaving Rainbow Dash all alone.

"Look, can we meet up? I really need to talk to someone."

"What have I done? Oh, What have I done?!"

Rainbow Dash paced around her bedroom. Tank was with her, watching her move back and fourth across the room. It was the day after Rainbow's little fight with Twilight. Although Dash did most of the "fighting".

"Things are even worse than they started! Twilight probably still likes Star Hunter and hates me! Oh man, this is bad." Rainbow bit her lip. "How could I ever get her to like me now?" Tank just continued staring. "Oh. stop looking at me like that! I know I should talk to her, but she probably never wants to talk to me again, after the way I yelled at her yesterday!" Tank just sat there and rolled his eyes. "It's not like I don't want to talk to her, okay? I just...can't talk to her. Not after yesterday."

Dash paced around her room for about a half an hour, scratching her head and trying to think of a way to apologize to Twilight, without needing to talk to her right away.

Rainbow's eyes moved down to the golden chain necklace she had given Tank awhile back. "That's it! I'll get her a gift!" There was still a problem though. "Oh, but what would I get her? A book? Nah, she has practically every book that ever got published."

"A card? No, not good enough. A sweater? Nah." Rainbow gave it some thought. Her eyes came to a geode she found in riverbed on a hike with the gang. That's when it hit her. "I could make a geode necklace. I'm sure she'd love it!"

Rainbow got some supplies and prepared to get to work. "Buckle up Tank! It's time to get crafty!"

Twilight was still upset about what had happened the previous day. She sat in her bedroom with her - talking - pet dog, Spike in her arms. "Rainbow Dash can be so confusing at times.." She said.

"You're telling me." Spike says.

"If she doesn't like Star Hunter, what's going on with her then?" Twilight laid down on her bed and sighed. "There aren't any other plausible solutions I could come up with! Not now anyway."

"You should talk to her. You won't be able to figure it out if the two of you don't communicate in some way." Spike suggested.

"I want to talk to her, but I don't think she even want's to see me right now. Let alone talk to me..."

"You'll never really know for sure! You need to talk to her! You two have always gotten through fights with each other before, right? And the way you do it is by talking to each other."

"I guess.." Twilight still wasn't completely satisfied.

"Whatever, I'm going back to sleep.." Spike gave up on trying to convince Twilight and went to sleep.

The two just laid there in comfortable silence until Twilight could hear Spike's faint snoring. She carried him over to his own bed and sat back down on hers. She sighed and looked through her window. I will talk to her... just...not right now.

Twilight looked over at her phone, which was just sitting on her nightstand next to her lamp, just staring at her. She knew exactly who she needed to talk to right now. She grabbed her mobile phone and punched in some digits. She waited for a what felt like a century.

I hope he'll pick up this time..

Twilight held her breath until she heard a familiar voice.

Hello? Who's this?

"Hello. It's Twilight Sparkle, remember me? Look, can we meet up? I really need to talk to someone."

"So, what did you want to meet me for?" Twilight looked up. It was Star Hunter.

She took a deep breath, "Wellmyfriendhasbeenactingwei-"

"Whoah! Let it out slowly, alright?"

Twilight took another breath. "A friend of mine has been acting weird and I don't know whats up with her lately. Just yesterday I came up with a possible solution, but when I confronted her about it she just yelled at me and told me to leave. Now, I'm even more confused. I needed someone to talk to, so I contacted you, Star Hunter."

"Well, I'm glad you did. I was in the middle of something, but anything for you, Twilight."

Those very words made Twilight blush. But then she came to think, what was he in the middle of? Hopefully not something too important. She didn't want to be a bother.

"Thanks."

"This friend of yours, you should-"

"Talk to her, I know.." Twilight bit her lip. "I will eventually, but I think it's best if I give her some space, for now."

"Okay. Let her talk to you first, after all she needs to apologize for yelling at you like that. But if she doesn't, you need to talk to her. You can't wait too long, or else things will get worse." Hunter said.

"I suppose you're right," Twilight agreed. "I'll talk to her, promise." She smiled at him.

"Hey, there's that smoothie place. I heard they're smoothies are the best in town."

"Yeah, my other friend, Applejack works there."

"I'll go get us some. What flavor do you want?"

"Surprise me. Oh by the way, tell Aj I sent you. You might just get a discount out of it."

"Aye Aye." Star Hunter got up and left.

Twilight noticed that Star Hunter had left his phone unattended. She waited until Star Hunter was out of sight to reach for it. She knew it was wrong, but something just came over her. She couldn't help but take a sneak peek. When she turned it on she came to find that there was no password. Convenient. The wallpaper was a picture of Star Hunter with an elderly woman. His grandma maybe? She scrolled through his gallery. There were more pictures of the same elderly woman. She looked like a nice woman, very cheerful and kind. There was a twinkle in her eye that said it all. Twilight scrolled through some more recent photos.

Nothing could prepare her for what she saw next.

"I love you, Twilight."

The picture brought tears in Twilight's eyes.

It was a picture of a teenage girl, with Star Hunter. Twilight could've thought they were siblings or relatives... if they hadn't been kissing. All this time Twilight thought she had a chance with Star Hunter, but he already had someone else.

Twilight put down the phone and ran. She didn't want to go home. She needed to talk to a friend. She needed someone to comfort her. So she went to the first person she thought of.

Rainbow Dash was just about finished with her apology present for Twilight. She also had made a card for her, stating how sorry she was.

"There! I'm done. What do you think Tank?" Rainbow proudly held up her masterpiece for Tank to see, but Tank couldn't see anything, for he was asleep. "Heh. Guess it was pretty boring watching me, huh. Sleep tight Tank."

Rainbow put the geode necklace in a box she found, along with the card. Now all she had to do was give it to Twilight.

She heard a knock on the door. She didn't know who it was, for she didn't expect any visitors today.

She went downstairs and opened the door. It was Twilight. She looked out of breath, and it was obvious that she had been crying.

"Twilight? W-what's wrong?"

Twilight just stepped inside without answering and sat down. Rainbow came and sat down beside her.

Twilight didn't say anything, she just rested her head against Rainbow's shoulder and began crying again.

Rainbow waited for Twilight to calm down a bit to ask again, "What's wrong?"

Twilight took a deep breath before answering. "Star Hunter he..." Rainbow got angry. "What did he do to you?!"

Twilight sighed. "I guess it's not really his fault. He has the right to like someone else.."

"I don't understand."

"Star Hunter already has a girlfriend, at least they looked pretty into each other.." The thought made Twilight start to tear up again.

Rainbow Dash didn't know what to say. She felt a rush of joy, but when she looked over at Twilight, all she could feel was sadness. She felt bad for Twilight.

"Hey, Twi? I have something to show you. I'll be right back." Rainbow Dash hurried up the stairs. When she returned, she had a small box with her. She gave it to Twilight. "W-what's this?" Twilight asked.

"Why don't you open it and find out?"

Twilight opened the box. Inside she saw a beautiful geode necklace inside. Along with a piece of folded paper. She read the card. When she was finished reading, she smiled. Rainbow was relieved when she saw Twilight smile, at least she wasn't sad anymore.

"Rainbow, thank you, it's a wonderful gift. and of course, I forgive you."

"Heh. Thanks."

"There's still something that bothers me," Twilight said.

"Yeah?"

"Why...why we're you acting so.." Twilight thought for a moment for the right words.

"Strange?" Rainbow was nervous. She knew this would come up again sooner or later. Twilight nodded.

Rainbow took a deep breath. She knew it was now or never. She had to confess her feelings towards Twilight. "Twilight. I was acting differently because I was jealous."

Twilight was confused. "But you said you didn't like Star Hunter."

"I wasn't jealous of you I was jealous of him."

"Jealous of Star Hunter? But then that means.." Twilight gasped. "You.."

Rainbow took a deep breath. "Like you? Yeah. I have for a couple of months now. I just never told you because I was scared. I was scared that..you'd say no, and it would ruin what we have already. I'm still new to this whole romance thing."

Twilight didn't say anything. She just started to cry.

Rainbow Dash definitely did not predict a reaction like that. "Uh..Twilight? You okay?"

"Rainbow Dash, I'm so sorry, I'm a terrible friend."

"What? Why would you say that?"

"I should've realized that you had feelings for me. Instead, I was so stupid to talk about my feelings for someone else in front of you like that. I probably hurt you so much. That's probably why you got so mad the other day. I am so sorry, I really am."

"Twilight. It's not your fault none of this is." Rainbow pulled Twilight close and hugged her.

"Rainbow Dash, I want to make it up to you. I never understood why, but whenever I thought about Star Hunter, you also came up in my mind. I guess it's because I liked you a little too. I don't know if a relationship between us would work, but I'm willing to try."

Rainbow Dash didn't say anything. She just hugged Twilight tighter.

FOUR YEARS LATER
Four years have passed. Rainbow and Twilight were getting married in a month. They had bought a house near the ocean. It was Twilight's dream to live at the edge of the water. Away from a city, where she could see the stars every night.

Rainbow Dash was helping her fiance unpack.

"I can't believe it's finally happening! We're getting married! Then we could adopt a child or two, we'll go on family vacations together and have lots of fun! Oh! We could also-"

"Whoah, whoah, whoah! Hold on there Twilight. Let's just get married first and we'll work it out from there. Now help me finish unpacking." Rainbow chuckled.

"Alright, alright." Twilight smiled. As she was unpacking, she stumbled across something. She held it up and smiled. "Well, this brings back memories. Did you pack this? I don't remember doing it."

Rainbow came over to where Twilight was. "I don't remember packing it.."

It was the geode necklace Rainbow gave Twilight when they first started dating. The two of them smiled at the memory.

"Hey...you should wear it on our wedding day," Rainbow suggested.

"Definitely," Twilight said. She put on the necklace.

"It really suits you."

"The one who made it for me knows me pretty well," Twilight said with a wink.

The couple came closer until there was no more space between them, and gave each other a kiss.

"I love you, Twilight."

"I love you too, Rainbow."
