> Legends of the past: A Power Rangers Story > by TheHardie-Boy > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Prologue > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tommy returned to Earth. He now had different matters to attend to. He needed to know how Rito Revolto got to Equestria and how Rita Repulsa knew about that world. There was a chance this would get very ugly. He arrived at his home in Reefside. He got to his computer and looked up ‘Equestria.’ He mostly just found stuff that had nothing to do with anything other than horseback riding, but he found an article that caught his attention. It told of three instances of ‘Equestrian Magic’ going crazy at the same high school. He looked up the high school called ‘Canterlot High School’ and found mostly the same information. Everything he found told him the same thing. The events were referred to as ‘The Fall Formal,’ ‘The Battle of the Bands,’ and ‘The Friendship Games’. All three of them were pretty similar: someone turned into a monster and was stopped by a group of teenage girls and made their friend, save for the ‘Battle of the Bands’. Tommy couldn’t help but smile. These monsters had gotten pretty much the same treatment as he. It wasn’t much information, but it was enough. Tommy packed a few bags and got into his truck. He was off to Canterlot City. Meanwhile “Sunset, Twilight, are you two coming?” Rainbow Dash yelled at her friends. “Give us a second,” Sunset said, closing her locker. Rainbow was always so impatient, and Sunset loved it. “We’ll be there in a minute. Go ahead and start without us,” Twilight said. “Alright. Just hurry up,” Rainbow said. She went to join her other friends, who already had their instruments ready. “Let me guess,” said Applejack, “They’re going to say goodbye to the biology teacher?” “Well, yeah. I don’t know why they have to do it again. They’ve already done it like a thousand times,” Rainbow said, rolling her eyes. “Oh you know Twilight. Learning’s her whole life, and Sunset has always enjoyed human biology,” said Rarity. “You would be too, if you were a pony from another dimension,” Sunset said, entering the room with her guitar. Twilight followed close behind. “How’s Mr. Skies handling his early retirement?” Fluttershy asked. “Better than he was before. He even told us who was gonna take his place,” Twilight said. “He said it’s gonna be someone named Mr. Oliver. He’ll be here later today,” Sunset added. “I hope he doesn’t have a breakdown like Mr. Skies did. It was really weird,” Pinkie said. “What can I say? Not everyone can handle the weirdness of Equestrian Magic,” Rainbow said. Applejack rolled her eyes. “Are you ever gonna stop talking about your trip to Equestria? We get it: you turned into a pegasus.” “I was being serious. I’m not THAT bad,” Rainbow said. Sunset chuckled. She had always enjoyed the playful banter between Rainbow and AJ. “Okay. Are we gonna practice or what?” “Right, let’s do it!” Rainbow said. The next day Tommy had only just arrived in Camterlot City, and he could already feel the Equestrian Magic he felt in Equestria. Granted, it wasn’t as strong, but that didn’t matter at the moment. What mattered was his investigation. And making a good impression on his new boss, Principle Celestia. The phone interview had gone well. She mentioned that “Strange things tend to happen at the school, usually involving magic.” Tommy wish he could have seen her face when he told her that he had his fair share of strangeness. It wasn’t technically a lie, but he didn’t mention his adventures. He arrived at the school. It looked more like a giant library than anything. It was nice, though, and Tommy thought of what he should do first. He settled for going straight to Principle Celestia’s office. He opened the doors to see exactly what he expected: a bunch of high school kids in the halls. He made his way to the office, avoiding the occasional student running by. He finally got to the office and knocked at the door. “One moment please,” he heard a gentle sounding female voice say. Tommy took a seat and waited for the principle to finish whatever she was doing. A blue-skinned girl with silver hair came out of the office. “Come in,” Tommy heard the voice from before say. Tommy entered the office to see two women that looked about his age. One had white skin and green hair. The other had dark blue skin and slightly less dark blue hair. “You must be Principle Celestia and Vice Principle Luna. I’m Thomas Oliver, but you can call me Tommy,” Tommy said. “It is nice to meet you, Tommy. You are correct. I am Principle Celestia, and this is my sister, Vice Principle Luna,” said Principle Celestia, extending a hand. Tommy shook her hand and also Vice Principle Luna’s hand, and took a seat. “It is nice to know that you have experience teaching. Our last biology teacher had a...incident concerning the...events, which I’m sure my sister explained to you,” said Luna. “Like I said, I’ve seen some weird things in my day,” Tommy said. “I just want to give you your schedule and a small map of the school. It’s surprisingly easy to get lost around here,” said Celestia, making Luna chuckle. “Alright, thanks,” said Tommy, taking his schedule. “My sister will show you to your classroom. You only have one class for today,” said Celestia. “Sounds good. It was nice meeting you,” said Tommy as he and Luna exited her office. As they were walking through the halls, Tommy reminisced about his time at Reefside High. His thoughts shifted toward the reason he was here. “You said you’ve seen some weird thing. Can you explain what?” Luna asked. “Oh, um...it’s complicated. Not kidding when I say this: monster attacks,” Tommy said, making Luna chuckle. The two of them passed a room where Tommy heard music coming from. He slowed his pace and looked toward the door to the room. “Don’t mind them. They call themselves ‘The Rainbooms’. They’re a band, really good too,” Luna explained. “Sounds like it,” Tommy agreed. “Hey, Celestia...or Principle Celestia mentioned strange events here too, but she didn’t really go into detail about them.” “That is a story for another day. Don’t worry, you won’t be kept in the dark for too long,” Luna assured. “Are there any names I should know before I get to know my students?” Tommy asked. “As a matter of fact, yes. I actually made a list for you,” Luna replied, handing him a slip of paper. “And believe it or not, those are also the Rainbooms. They’re not trouble-makers, but you can get information regarding these magical events from them.” “Alright, I’ll check it out later,” Tommy said. Eventually, they finally got to Tommy’s classroom. It didn’t look much different from Tommy’s classroom back in Reefside. “As my sister told you, you only have one class for today. Here is an attendance book for you to get to know the names of your students. If you need anything, feel free to ask my sister or myself. I’ll see you later, Mr. Oliver..or sorry, Tommy,” Luna said, leaving Tommy alone. He put down his stuff and took a seat. He wasted no time pulling out the list Luna gave him and began to examine the names. He was shocked when he saw whose names were on the list. It was six of the seven ponies he met in Equestria: Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, and Fluttershy. Tommy noticed that Starlight Glimmer’s name wasn’t on the list, but someone named Sunset Shimmer. Tommy wasn’t sure how to react. Theses events took place well over a month ago, but he saw those girls in another dimension not two days ago. He focused a little more on Sunset Shimmer’s name. If he was going to start anywhere , it was going to be with her. > The meeting > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sunset walked into the classroom, eager to meet the new teacher. He sounded nice enough, but she hadn’t actually had the chance to meet him personally. She took her seat and found she was in between Twilight and Rainbow. Oddly enough, Pinkie was right behind her as well. This would either be really good or really bad. “Have you guys had a chance to see the new teacher?” Sunset asked. “Not yet. I wanted to, but I couldn’t find him anywhere,” Twilight answered. “I’m sure it’ll be fine. I mean, how bad could it really be?” Rainbow asked. “I don’t know. I mean, he could be an evil demon from Equestria who heard about what happened at the...past, and now he wants to get back to Equestria so he can take over,” Pinkie said rapidly. “Um, first, thank you for not naming the specific events like you usually do, but second, I highly doubt that’s the case,” Sunset responded. “Yeah, if he was from Equestria, I’m sure we would’ve heard something from Princess Twilight,” Rainbow added. “Still though, I wish I could’ve met him so I’d know what to expect,” Twilight said. “I’m sure it’ll be fine. It’s not like he’s gonna change the entire curriculum on you. Even if he did, you’d probably get the hang of it instantly,” Sunset told her. Little known to them, Tommy was in the classroom, only he was invisible. He found it interesting, the conversation the three of them were having. Once the other students began to enter the classroom, Tommy made his way to the door so he could become visible again. Tommy walked like he was just getting there. “Hello, everyone. My name is Mr. Oliver. As you can probably guess, I’m the new biology teacher,” said Tommy. “I’m sure we’ll all get to know each other as the years goes on, but I still have a small presentation about myself so you can know me a little better.” Tommy turned off the lights and turned on a presentation that appeared on the screen. “As you may have guessed, my full name is Thomas ‘Tommy’ Oliver. My small group of immediate friends called me Tommy. I grew up in Angel Grove, which I believe is only two or three miles away from Canterlot City. I was in fact adopted, but I have had the pleasure of meeting my biological parents,” Tommy explained. Pinkie winced. Something about Tommy seemed familiar. Her Pinkie sense was telling her that Mr. Oliver was hiding something. Sunset noticed Twilight was writing the things Mr. Oliver was saying, as if studying for a test. She glanced over to Rainbow, who was half-heartedly listening. “Miss Shimmer, is something the matter?” Tommy asked, startling her. “Oh no, I’m just a little short on sleep. Sorry,” Sunset responded. Tommy smiled a little, not enough for anyone to see. So far, Sunset seemed nice enough. Maybe she wasn’t part of anything he needed to be concerned about. He couldn’t help but laugh in the inside about her hair, although Rainbow Dash’s hair was even crazier. Then again, his friends always told him he had crazy hair back in the day, as well. After the presentation, Tommy got the students working on independent work. He wrote down a few notes: TWILIGHT SPARKLE: hard worker, maybe a little too hard. RAINBOW DASH: obviously sports fanatic. SUNSET SHIMMER: friendly, oddly familiar, unseen in Equestria. Tommy’s concentration was broken by a noise from the other side of the classroom. It was being made by the silver-haired girl from the other day. She was whispering to who Tommy could only assume was her friend and giggling. Tommy looked at his attendance list and saw the name of the girl: Trixie Lulamoon. He got up and walked over to her. “Miss Lulamoon, I like jokes. Would you like to share yours with the class?” Tommy said. Trixie shrank back, embarrassed. “U-Um no, Mr. Oliver.” “Then maybe don’t share it with your friend here,” Tommy responded. “O-Okay, sorry,” Trixie said as Tommy walked back over to his own desk. The rest of the class was very uneventful. By the time the bell rang, Tommy had forgotten he wasn’t teaching in Reefside. He nearly forgot what he meant to do. He put his notes from before. “Um, Sunset Shimmer, I’d like to talk with you for a moment,” Tommy called. The fiery-haired girl from before turned back. “What’s going on?” she asked. “Nothing, I just noticed that you seem to know a lot of names around the school. Tell me, how long have you been coming here?” Tommy asked. Sunset’s expression changed from casual to surprised. “Um, j-just freshman year, M-Mr. Oliver,” she stammered. “Everything okay?” Tommy asked. “Yeah, just...like I said, short on sleep,” Sunset responded. “Alright. By any chance, do you know anyone named Starlight Glimmer?” Tommy said. Sunset’s expression was now shocked. “Yeah, she’s a good friend of mine..b-but she lives pretty far away,” Sunset responded. “Okay. That’s all,” Tommy said as Sunset left. Tommy got his notes out from before and wrote that Sunset was definitely hiding something. Meanwhile Sunset rushed to the cafeteria to join her friends. She couldn’t get her mind off of what Mr. Oliver said. How did he know who Starlight Glimmer was? Even she had only met her once. “Hey, Sunset, what was that about?” Twilight asked. “It was weird. There’s definitely something he’s not telling us,” Sunset said. “Well what makes you say that, darling?” Rarity asked. “Guys, he asked me about Starlight Glimmer!” Sunset said, getting a few gasps from her friends. “What? How? Starlight’s in Equestria, isn’t she?” said Twilight. “Now hold on, y’all. Maybe he was just talkin’ about the Starlight glimmer on Earth,” suggested Applejack. “I guess he could be. We haven’t ever me her,” added Fluttershy. “Don’t you guys get it? He’s from Angel Grove, he said he had a small group of immediate friends, his nickname was Tommy, he’s obviously hiding something-“ Pinkie was cut off. “What are you suggesting?” Rainbow asked sarcastically. “Girls, he’s a Power Ranger! That’s what he’s hiding!” Pinkie silently exclaimed. “How would that explain how he knows Starlight Glimmer?” Twilight asked. “Hold up, what’s a Power Ranger?” Sunset asked. Pinkie’s bottom jaw dropped. “WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL YOUR LIFE?!” she yelled, causing the other students to stare at them. “Don’t mind her. Just classic Pinkie Pie,” said Twilight, getting Pinkie down from the table. “What is wrong with you?” “What? How has Sunset never heard of the Power Rangers?” Pinkie asked. “Maybe because I grew up in another dimension?” Sunset shot back. “Oh, right,” said Pinkie, blushing. Applejack rolled her eyes. “Power Rangers are a pretend group of super heroes that protect the earth from evil, to answer your question before,” she told Sunset. “They’re real, and I can prove it,” Pinkie said. “Really? Just think about it: if Power Rangers are real, why haven’t we seen them before when we were dealing with...evil?” Rainbow interjected. “Maybe they were fighting evil of their own, or maybe they were afraid of Equestrian magic,” Pinkie suggested. “Oh please. Power Rangers protect the earth from far more evil beings than a few demons; I’m pretty sure what we dealt with would’ve been nothing to them,” Rarity put in. “No one answered my earlier question: even if Mr. Oliver is a ranger, how would he know Starlight Glimmer?” Twilight said. “Like Applejack said before; he probably meant the Starlight Glimmer from Earth,” Sunset added. Before Pinkie could say anything else, the bell rang. “Mark my words; Mr. Oliver is a Power Ranger, and I’m gonna prove it,” she stated before walking to her next class. Meanwhile Tommy was on his way to Principle Celestia’s office. He had to know what was going on with those girls, if they had something to do with Rito’s getting to Equestria. “Hey, are you busy? I have a few questions regarding to school’s...history,” Tommy said, entering the office. “Don’t worry, I’m free and I’ll be happy to answer any of your questions,” Celestia answered as Tommy took a seat. “How exactly did the ‘Fall Formal’ play out?” was Tommy’s first question. “Suspend your beliefs, but a princess from another dimension came, claiming that one of our students went to her castle and stole her crown, and that for every being in that dimension, they had a counter part here,” Celestia started. ‘That must be Twilight,’ Tommy thought to himself. “Which student was it that stole the crown?” “I’d rather not say, but apparently she’s also from her dimension. Anyhow, she used the crown to turn the students here, save for the Rainbooms, into mindless zombies under her control. Something happened, I can’t remember what, but now she’s one of their closest friends. That’s all I really know. You’d have to get better details from the Rainbooms themselves,” Celestia finished. “Alright, thanks,” Tommy said, exiting the office. He didn’t get a lot of information, but it was enough. He thought about it and decided he would wait until tomorrow to talk to the Rainbooms. The next day “I don’t like this, Goldar,” said Gasket. “A small set-back, but nothing we can’t deal with,” Goldar responded. “Gasket’s right. Tommy’s presence could ruin everything,” said Archereena, Gasket’s wife. “Not if we don’t screw up,” said Sprocket, Gasket’s brother. “I don’t get it. Why don’t we just go to Equestria now? There’s nothing stopping us,” said Squatt. “Because, you idiot, we have to revive Rita and Zedd here. If we take the staffs to Equestria now, they’ll be locked and we’ll never be able to revive them. Honestly, I don’t know why Goldar’s kept you alive for so long,” said Gasket. “Not to mention the Wild Rangers are in Equestria right now, along with the Animarium,” Sprocket added. Goldar just groaned. Gasket was right: why was he keeping Squatt and Baboo alive? He could just o to them what he did to Rito: set them up to be destroyed. “Where’re Vinster and Clank?” Goldar asked. “Right here, Goldar. Do you require our assistance?” said Clank. “Have you finished merging the putties and the cogs yet?” Gasket said. “Yes sir. They have just finished cloning. It would help if we could have a quick test run,” said Vinster. “At least someone around here knows how to think,” said Goldar as he looked down to Earth. He saw a teenage girl with amber skin and fiery hair. “There’s a girl at the school Tommy’s teaching at. Send them to attack her,” said Goldar. “Right away sir,” said Clank. Meanwhile Sunset was waiting by the portal for her friends. She was always the first one at the school on Friday. It was hands down the best day of the week, despite Twilight’s reasoning. ‘Speak of the devil,’ Sunset thought to herself as Twilight came up to her. “You’re here early for a Friday,” Sunset said. “Yeah, well I had nothing better to do,” said Twilight. “Have you thought anymore about Mr. Oliver?” “A little. Something tells me there’s something to be worried about, but I just can’t out my finger on what,” Sunset responded. “I’m sure if there was something to be worried about, we’d know. Even if there was, maybe Mr. Oliver doesn’t even have anything to do with it,” Twilight suggested. “You know what? You’re right. I shouldn’t worry until it’s actually time to worry,” Sunset chuckled. The two of the continued to chat until the were surrounded by strange creatures with grey suits. The way they moved and their faces seemed to indicate they were robots of some sort. “Woah, I’ve never seen anything-“ Twilight was cut off by one of them kicking her to the ground. “Hey, don’t mess with-“ Sunset started to say as one of them pushed her into the grip of two others. She tried to struggle, but they were too strong. Twilight got up and clutched her necklace. She used her power to try and levitate the robots, but more of them stopped her form saving Sunset. Sunset tried to use her powers to read what they were thinking, but she couldn’t get anything other than “Destroy. Destroy. Destroy.” One of the robots landed a kick into Twilight’s stomach, and another swept her onto the ground. All Sunset could do was watch, and one of the robots took a shot at her. “What are these things?” Twilight wheezed. “I-I don’t know,” Sunset responded. The robots looked as if they were about to finish them off when a figure wearing a black suit with golden triangle patterns jumped into the middle of the action. All of the robots turned their attention toward him as he began fighting them all off. Sunset watched in amazement as the figure continued to take down the robots. He was so fast and strong. One of the robots turned back toward her, but the figure leapt over to them and took it out. “Go help your friend,” said the figure. “A-Alright. Thanks for the help,” Sunset responded, but the figure went back to fighting off robots. The robots tried to swarm him, but he ducked down and took them all out. The fight kept going until there were only two robots left standing. “Picking on two, innocent, teenage girls. What do you have to say for yourselves?” the figure joked. All he got in response was incomprehensible blubbering. “Seriously? 25 years and you still don’t know how to talk?” the figure said before kicking the two robots down. “Are you two alright?” the figure asked Sunset and Twilight. “Umm, yeah, thanks to you,” said Twilight. “No problem, it’s what I do,” the figure responded. “This is gonna sound crazy, but are you a Power Ranger?” asked Sunset. Twilight glared at Sunset. “Sunset, that’s ridicu-“ “As a matter of fact, yes,” said the ranger, causing Twilight to go wide-eyed. “I must go. I have to see where those things came from,” said the ranger, teleporting away. Sunset saw Twilight’s expression and laughed. “Here, let me get that for you,” Sunset joked as she closed Twilight’s mouth with her hand. Meanwhile “Well, they were destroyed, but I’d say they work rather well. Would’nt you say, Goldar?” Gasket said. “They’ll be perfect for the invasion. Now all we need to do is revive Rita and Zedd,” Goldar agreed. Meanwhile This was bad. Tommy had no idea what those things were, who had sent them, or why they were attacking Sunset and Twilight. He powered down and took a look at his notes. Despite not knowing anything about Rarity, Fluttershy, or Applejack, he knew this couldn’t wait any longer. He had to talk to those girls today. Later Sunset and Twilight were trying to look like they weren’t hurt, but it was pretty obvious. They got way more concerned looks in that one hour than in the past year, and they didn’t like it. They finally got to class and sat down. “What happened to you two?” Rainbow asked. “We’ll explain later,” Sunset responded. “We’re you two attacked and saved by a Power Ranger?” Pinkie asked with a smirk. “She said we’ll talk about it later!” Twilight said through gritted teeth. Mr. Oliver walked into class and took attendance. From there on out, everything went smoothly. Once the bell rang, everyone got up to leave. “Sunset Shimmer, Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, and Pinkameena Diane Pie, I’d like to see you four after school, along with your friends Rarity, Applejack, and Fluttershy,” said Mr. Oliver, sending a shiver down Sunset’s spine. Later at lunch, the seven of them got together to discuss what had happened. “So I was waiting there as I usually do in Friday, and Twilight walks up. We start chatting for a few minutes, and all of the sudden, we’re surrounded by a bunch of grey-suited robots. Twilight got close to one, and they just all of the sudden attacked us. We tried to fight them off, but we just couldn’t. Then, out of nowhere, a Black Power Ranger comes and kicks the robots’ butts,” Sunset explained. All of the girls were really surprised, except for Pinkie. “I told you Mr. Oliver was a Power Ranger,” Pinkie said with a smirk. “Okay, this person had a totally deep voice. There’s no way it was Mr. Oliver,” Twilight countered. “Ah don’t know. Ah’m Gonna have to agree with Pinkie. Ah mean, this guy comes out of nowhere and robots just happen to attack and there just happens to be a Power Ranger to save y’all?” Applejack said. “And Mr. Oliver just so happened to want to us you after school the same day you were attacked?” Rarity added. “Well, at least if Mr. Oliver is a Power Ranger, we can be sure he’s a good guy,” said Fluttershy. “True. Although, I’d still like to know how he knows about Starlight Glimmer,” Sunset said. “I guess we’ll just have to wait until after school to find that out,” said Twilight. After School Sunset and Twilight walked up toMr. Oliver’s classroom to see their friends already waiting there. They waited for a moment until Mr. Oliver joined them. “Sorry I’m late. I had to make a phone call,” Mr. Oliver said as he opened his classroom door. “Please, take a seat. I’ll try and keep this as quick as possible.” They all took seats in the front row as Mr. Oliver pulled up a chair of his own. “So, I did a little bit of research about the school, and I found a couple of interesting events took place here. They go under the names of ‘Fall Formal’, ‘Battle of the Bands’, and ‘Friendship Games’. Principle Celestia told me a little bit about the Fall Formal, but I kind of need better details than what she gave me,” Mr. Oliver told them. Sunset’s heart skipped a beat. “Um, can I ask why?” “You’ll see. You’re not in trouble, I just need to know,” Mr. Oliver replied. Twilight gave Sunset a nervous look. She knew this was still a sore spot for her, but she couldn’t find a way to defend her friend as she was not present for this event. “Um, you see-“ Rainbow started to say, but was cut off by Sunset. “If he’s gonna hear this, I should be the one to explain it,” Sunset said. “A-Are you sure, darling. We know this is still hard for you to think about,” Rarity said. “I-It’s fine. Y-You’re not gonna get a better version from anyone...anyone else,” Sunset said. “Alright. I apologize for bringing this up if it is this bad,” Mr. Oliver said. “It’s okay.” Sunset explained the whole ordeal, and Tommy quickly saw why this was hard for her to talk about. She was the one to steal the crown from Twilight and use it for evil. She reminded him of himself when he had first become a ranger. Sunset explained everything while trying to hold back tears. “I’m sorry. If I had known this would be so hard for you, I wouldn’t have made you bring it up. I understand though. I went through a similar dilemma when I was your age. Are the Battle of the Bands or the Friendship Games any easier to talk about?” Tommy asked. Twilight hung her head in response. “I was only there for the Friendship Games,” she said. “Judging by your response, I’m assuming it’s not any better. In that case, I think I have all the information I need. Now to get to the point f this meeting. Have any of you ever heard of anyone named Rita Repulsa?” Tommy asked. The girls all shook their heads in response. “Does the name Lord Zedd ring a bell?” The girls shook their heads again. “What about Rito Revolto?” The girls did the same. “Alright then. Either way, you need to see this,” Tommy said. With that, Tommy stood up his bracelet changed into a small black and gold head. He pulled out a key of the same color.”I’m sure you’ve already put two and two together, but in case you didn’t: Dino Thunder! Power Up!” Tommy said, putting the key into the head. The girls were blinded by a flashing light that came from Mr. Oliver. When the light receded, the looked back to see the black ranger from before. “I knew it!” Pinkie yelled. “Keep it down,” said Applejack. “Um, forgive me if I’m wrong, Mr. Oliver, but aren’t Power Rangers supposed to keep their identities a secret?” Rarity asked. “In most cases, yes, but there’s a special case here,” Tommy responded. “You see, I’ve actually gone to Equestria very recently. I went there to stop an old foe of mine named Rito Revolto. He was sent there, I’m assuming, by his sister, Rita Repulsa, and evil witch from space. I came here to see if I could figure out how she found out about that world. I wasn’t expecting those monsters from this morning to attack you two,” Tommy explained. The girls were shocked. They had no idea what to think about the situation. Not only was there a living, breathing Power Ranger standing in front of them, but he had also been to Equestria. “So that explains how you knew who Starlight Glimmer is,” said Twilight. “Did you meet our counter parts? What’s mine like?” Pinkie said. “She’s exactly like you, Pinkie,” Tommy responded. “I have to ask: how did Princess Twilight act when she met you?” Sunset asked with a laugh. “Actually, I wasn’t the first Power Ranger to enter Equestria. It turns out that two other teams, one of which being my former students from Reefside High,” Tommy explained. Sunset was shocked. Why didn’t Princess Twilight tell her about that? “I’m not trying to be rude or anything, but what exactly does this have to do with us?” Applejack asked. “Well, considering the monster attack from this morning and your discussions from today and yesterday, which yes I heard, I’ve come to the conclusion that you have something that someone else wants. And that someone is not good. So, I have no real choice but to make you this offer-“ “YES!” shouted Pinkie. “While the enthusiasm is appreciated, Pinkie, this is not a decision to take lightly. Nor is it one to be made on your own,” Tommy said. “What exactly is the offer?” Fluttershy asked. “Well, duh. He’s gonna ask us to be Power Rangers,” said Pinkie. The other girls looked at Mr. Oliver, who nodded. “Us? You must have the wrong group,” Rarity said. “No, I’m pretty sure you’re it,” Tommy responded. “What did you mean when you said it wasn’t a decision to be taken lightly?” Twilight asked. “Well, there are a lot of risks incorporated with being a ranger. You’d all be putting your lives on the line,” Tommy responded. “And you’re either all in, or none of you are.” “This-This is a lot,” Sunset sighed. “I understand, which is why you have the night to think about it. If the answer is yes, meet me at this address,” Tommy said, handing Sunset a piece of paper. “That is all. I hope you all have a good weekend, regardless of your decision. However, you must keep this a secret,” Tommy said. With that, the girls left. Later Sunset lie awake in her bed. She wasn’t sure if she deserved this chance. Part of her wanted to accept it without a second thought, but the rest of her was that second thought. What if she failed? What was she really fighting? What if she refused? What would happen then? Sunset pulled out her phone to see she was getting a group call from Pinkie. She answered and so did the rest of her friends. “We’re gonna say yes right?” Pinkie said. “Hold on, you heard Mr. Oliver. We’d be putting our lives at stake,” said Twilight. “Trust me, it’s worth it to save the earth,” responded Pinkie. “Okay. Say we agree. What if we fail?” Applejack said. “Easy: we won’t. I’m with Pinkie. We’ve fought evil before. This time, we just have an upgrade,” said Rainbow. “These guys aren’t like those guys. They won’t restrain like I did,” said Sunset. “Sunset, why do I have a feeling you’re gonna say no due to guilt?” Rarity asked. “I just don’t know. I mean, do I really deserve a chance to fight evil after everything I did?” Sunset replied. “If that were the case, I wouldn’t even consider it,” Twilight said. “That's different. You were pressured into using magic. I did it because I was a selfish brat,” said Sunset. “It Mr. Oliver didn’t think you deserved a chance, he probably wouldn’t have offered it to you,” said Applejack. “What do you think, Fluttershy? You’ve been pretty quiet,” said Sunset, wanting to get the focus off of herself. “I’m not sure. I don’t really want to fight, but what’s the alternative? The earth gets destroyed?” said Fluttershy. “I didn’t really think of that,” said Rarity. “I don’t know about you, but if there’s some evil witch that wants to destroy Earth, I’m not just gonna wait for her to do it,” said Fluttershy. “Same here. Come to think of it, I don’t really mind fighting evil in a different way from before,” said Applejack. “Oh what the heck. I’m in too,” said Rarity. Sunset could hear Twilight take a deep breath. “If you guys are in, then so am I,” she said. “That just leaves you, Sunny,” said Pinkie. Sunset hesitated to answer. She really didn’t know if she deserved this opportunity. Then again, Applejack was right: Mr. Oliver did give her the offer, knowing what she had done beforehand. “I’m in,” said Sunset. “Alright! Where’s the address?” Pinkie asked. > Into battle > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sunset, Twilight, and Rainbow stepped out of the car. They had all traveled her together. The others were just pulling up. Pinkie, of course, was the first to get out of that car. Saying she looked excited would be an understatement. She was literally shaking with anticipation. “Why would Mr. Oliver have us meet in an old Pawn Shop?” Rarity asked. “No one really uses it. Maybe it’s gonna be our hideout or something,” suggested Sunset. “Maybe we should go inside,” said Fluttershy. “Alright, but if this ends up bein’ one big joke, someone’s goin’ flyin’ out this here window,” said Applejack, motioning toward the window. “We were attacked physically, and Mr. Oliver even showed us that he can morph. Why would you think this is a joke?” Twilight asked. “Ya’ can never be too careful,” Applejack responded. Pinkie ran up to the door and stepped inside. The place really was abandoned. There was no sign that life of any kind had been here for years. She gave a sad huff as her friends joined her. “Gee, some hideout,” Sunset said sarcastically. “This is only the top floor. Wait until you see the actual base,” said Tommy, appearing right behind all of them, causing them all to jump in surprise. “Where did you- How?” Twilight stammered. “I’ll explain later. I take it you’re all in?” Tommy asked. “We thought about it, and yeah, we’re in,” Sunset answered. “Can we please get going already?” Pinkie plead. “Chill out, Pinkie,” Rainbow said. “She’s right though. Come on, let’s get inside. I hope you remember this place; you’re gonna be coming here a lot,” said Tommy. With that, they all stepped inside. Tommy walked up to an old painting on the wall and pressed a button. A small screen appeared, and Tommy put his eye in front of it. The screen did a quick scan and glowed green. “Tommy Oliver: Access Granted.” A door opened up beside the portrait, getting a few gasps out of the girls. “How long have you been working on this place?” asked Rarity. “It’s been here a while. I’ve got these all over the place, but I don’t use them all,” Tommy explained. Tommy lead the girls down a tunnel, complete with nothing more than a few dim lanterns. Once they finally reached the bottom, there was a large room that had many computers and screens and was connected to a dojo. Tommy pulled up a chair to sit in and motioned for the girls to do the same. “So, this marks the first day of your careers and Power Rangers. If you have any questions, now’s the time to ask them,” Tommy said. “Who exactly are we fightin’?” Applejack was the first to ask. Tommy tilted his head. “I’m not a hundred percent sure. It could be Rita Repulsa; it could be Lord Zedd; it could be the Machine Empire. I have figured out what it was that attacked Twilight and Sunset yesterday. There a mix of creatures called putties, who have a lot of strength and a lot of weak spots, and cogs, which are robots with more strength,” Tommy answered. “How is this gonna affect our friends who aren’t rangers?” Fluttershy asked next. “As long as you keep your identity secret, your friends will be in no danger. There have been a lot of instances where the villain figures out who the rangers are, but they’ve never stooped low enough to hold someone for ransom. Even if they did, I would be willing to lay my own life on the line to protect them.” “We have lost no physical fighting experience. I assume we’re going to have the chance to train, but what happens until then?” Rarity asked. “Like you said, a lot of it comes from training. But don’t worry, even if you’ve never fought, the suit gives you a boost in ability.” “If we needed it, would help be available from other ranger teams?” Twilight asked. “I was kind of wondering the same thing,” said Rainbow. “Probably. I know nearly every ranger team personally, and I’m sure they’d be more than willing to lend a helping hand.” “What exactly is this villain after?” Sunset asked. “If I had to guess, I’d say your ‘Equestrian Magic’ you called it earlier. What they plan to do with it if they get it is beyond me though.” “One more thing,” Sunset gulped, “What happens if we fail?” “Failure as a ranger is unavoidable. You’re gonna lose fights. It’s what you do next that really matters.” Sunset looked at her friends. They didn’t seem to have any more questions. “I’m sure we’ll have more questions later, but I think that’s all for now. I’m sure Pinkie’s dying to get on with this,” she said. “Of course,” Tommy said, pulling out a large, black box. He opened it to reveal seven watches, each with their own unique color and design. “These are your morphers.” Pinkie’s face nearly exploded with excitement when she heard that. “Alright. Since Pinkie looks so eager to find out what color she’s gonna be, I’ll start with her. Pinkie Pie, a bit of a joker, but there for your friends when they need you, and courageous in the face of danger. You will be the Pink Harmony Ranger,” Tommy said, handing the pink with the Pinkie. She quickly put it on and examined it. Tommy then walked up to Fluttershy. “Fluttershy, a little timid, but not to be underestimated. You will be the Yellow Harmony Ranger.” Tommy handed Fluttershy the yellow watch, which she put on and examined as well. Tommy went to Rarity next. “Rarity, may seem like a drama queen, but really one of the most generous hearts one could ever meet, willing to do whatever it takes to help. You will be the White Harmony Ranger.” Rarity put on her white watch and admired its diamond design. “Applejack, true of heart, not afraid to admit your scared. You will be the Green Harmony Ranger.” Applejack struggled with her watch while trying to put it on. “Rainbow Dash, may seem hot-headed, but knows when to back down, and unwilling to leave her friends unprotected. You will be the Blue Harmony Ranger.” Rainbow smirked when she saw the rainbow patterns on her watch. “Twilight Sparkle, can do anything she puts her mind to, always putting friends first. Since purple ranger sounds a little weird, you will be the Magi Ranger.” Twilight’s mind exploded when she heard her title and the praise Tommy gave her. Rainbow looked at her friends, then at Sunset. “One left. That means...Sunset, you’re the-the,” she said. “What? What color am I?” Sunset asked. “Sunset Shimmer. You are aware of your mistakes, but you are not afraid to move past them. You are strong, brave, and kind. For this, will lead the Power Rangers Harmony League as the Red Harmony Ranger. I know you’ll do a great job,” Tommy said, giving Sunset the red watch. Sunset’s mind was cleared. She wasn’t sure what to think. Before, she was questioning whether or not she even deserved to be a ranger. Now she was the leader? “Me, a leader? A-Are you sure, Mr. Oliver?” “Of course. I know you won’t let me down. One more thing though: you only need to cal, me Mr. Oliver in school. Anywhere else, it’s just Tommy,” said Tommy. “Quick question: what about zords?” Pinkie asked. Everyone shot her confused looks, save for Tommy. “You know, zords. Giant robots we use when the monster grows like really, really big.” “About that: I don’t actually have the blueprints to make new zords, so I’m trying to reconstruct old ones. Namely, the Thunderzords that my friends and I used to use,” Tommy explained. “So, I’ll do that, while you guys go start your training. Go down that way and in the last door on the left.” Sunset and her friends all started down the hallway, Pinkie leading the group, while Tommy booted up his computer and started to work on the Thunderzords. Meanwhile “Finster! Clank! Do you have a monster to destroy Tommy yet?” Goldar yelled. “Yes sir. This is Enerdrain,” Finster replied. “He doesn’t look like much,” Gasket said. “It doesn’t matter whether or not he defeats Tommy. Just one shot from his canons and Tommy’s energy will slowly begin to drain. And there’s no cure, even if Tommy does defeat him,” Clank added. “Hm. Maybe this is just what we need. Send him down, and have Orbiz on standby,” Goldar instructed. “Yes sir,” Finster and Clank said in unison. Meanwhile “So, this button here on the top is to teleport you here, so you don’t have to walk,” said Tommy. He was currently explaining how the girls’ morphers work. “Is that safe?” Twilight asked. The thought of teleportation without magic nearly terrified her. “Don’t worry. I’ve done this thousands of times. It feels a little weird at first, but you get used to it the more you do it,” Tommy replied. “Now, to morph, rotate this along the side of the morpher until a button pops out,” Tommy demonstrated. “Once it does, press it and shout...It’s Morphin’ TIme!” Pinkie nearly exploded with excitement when she heard Tommy say that. “Is there anything else we should know before we try morphing?” “Well, this first time, it’s gonna have to be in unison to make sure the frequency doesn’t mess up, but other than that, you’re good to go,” Tommy replied. Right as he said that, an alarm went off. Tommy ran to the screen and projected it onto a larger screen for the girls to see. There was a robot with a small tank on its hip. A group of robots from before joined it as well. “Looks like whoever sent those robots from before got busy,” said Rainbow. “So much fer’ trainin’,” said Applejack. “Don’t worry. Like I said before: the suit gives you a little boost in experience,” said Tommy. “What are we waiting for? Let’s get out there!” Pinkie shouted. “Alright, Pinkie,” Sunset said as she and her friends lined up. “Everyone ready?” “Ready!” they all shouted in unison. With that, they all rotated the small lever around their morpher, like Tommy showed them, until a button appeared. The all pressed the button and shouted “It’s Morphin’ Time!” To Tommy’s surprise, nothing happened. The girls were equally confused. “Try it again,” Tommy suggested. They did and got the same result. “Alright. I’ll handle that thing. The blueprints for the morphers are in the drawer here. Try to figure out what’s wrong with them and join me when you can.” Tommy summoned his own morpher and key. “Dino Thunder! Power Up!” Tommy morphed into the Black Ranger from before and teleported to the scene. Twilight opened the drawer and pulled out the blueprints Tommy was talking about. She spread them out on a table, and her friends joined her in looking over them. At the battle scene, Tommy had just arrived. Goldar and Gasket were keeping an eye on the battle from above to make sure Tommy didn’t have any tricks up his sleeve. “Well, well, well. If it isn’t the Great and Powerful Tommy Oliver. You may as well give up now. You don’t stand a chance,” said Enerdrain. “That’s what every other monster that faced me said before I destroyed them,” Tommy replied. “I’m not like any other monster you’ve faced,” replied Enerdrain. “Puttycogs, attack!” The grey robots from before all charged toward Tommy. Tommy drew his Bracheostaff and jumped into battle. He had no trouble taking down each goon. They were tough, though, and Tommy knew it would only be a matter of time until he was overwhelmed. Tommy decided to turn invisible so he could attack without being seen. He finished off the rest of the Puttycogs until it was just him and Enerdrain. Back at the hideout, Rarity stumbled upon something. “Girls, look here. It says we all have to be all in for the morphers to work. If any of us doubt ourselves, none of them will work,” Rarity said. “Wow, Mr. Oliver wasn’t kidding when he said we were either all in or none of us were,” Rainbow said. “But I’m not doubting myself. Who is?” Fluttershy asked. Sunset looked away and ran her hand through her hair. “It-It’s me. It’s just that...I was doubting whether or not I should even get to be a ranger after everything I’ve done, let alone the leader.” “What are you talking about? You’d be a great leader,” Twilight said, a little surprised. “Yeah, definitely better than any of us,” Applejack added. “Am I though? Think about it: I’ve never been able to handle anything on my own; we’ve always needed help in some way. The Fall Formal, the Battle of the Bands, the Equestria Land incident,” Sunset plead. “Sorry to bring this up, Twilight, but what about the Friendship Games? I think it’s safe to say that was all you,” Rainbow replied. “They’re right. If it weren’t for you, I probably would’ve sucked all of the magic out of Equestria,” Twilight added. Sunset looked up at her friends. “You guys really think so?” “We know so,” FLuttershy said. “Alright. Let’s give this another try,” Sunset said, standing up. The seven girls lined up and shared determined nods. They rotated the levers on their morphers again and pressed the button that popped out, shouting, “It’s Morphin’ Time!” in the process. One by one, the girls began to glow like they were ponying up, only different. They were all enveloped in their own respective colors as their ranger suits began to form. Fluttershy was the first to complete the morphing process. Her suit was a butterscotch yellow with three butterflies on her chest and a gold belt around her waist. On her face, an outline of a butterfly was drawn as a yellow helmet surrounded her head. “Element of Kindness! Harmony League, Yellow Ranger!” Rarity was next. Her suit was white with three bright blue diamonds on her chest with a silver belt around her waist. An outline of a diamond appeared on her head as a white helmet appeared on her head. “Element of Generosity! Harmony League, White Ranger!” Then was Applejack. She was covered in a green suit with three apples varying in size and a gold belt. An outline of an apple appeared on her face along with a green helmet. “Element of Honesty! Harmony League, Green Ranger!” Next was Pinkie Pie. Her pink suit went well with her gold belt. Her suit also had three differently colored balloons. An outline of a balloon appeared on her face as her pink helmet appeared. “Element of Laughter! Harmony League, Pink Ranger!” Rainbow was next. Her blue suit had a cloud shooting out a rainbow colored lighting bolt and a rainbow colored belt around her waist. A lighting bolt outline shown on her face along with her blue helmet. “Element of Loyalty! Harmony League, Blue Ranger!” Then, Twilight morphed. Her suit was purple with a pink star on her chest, along with a golden belt. A star appeared on her face before her purple helmet. “Element of Magic! Harmony League, Magi Ranger!” Finally, Sunset morphed. Her suit was red with yellow streaks. She also had a crimson belt. An outline resembling her cutie mark from Equestria shown on her face, summoning her red helmet. “Element of Empathy! Harmony League, Red Ranger!” The Power Rangers Harmony League were now morphed and ready for battle. Meanwhile Tommy and Enerdrain were in the middle of a heated battle. Tommy didn’t know what the robot did, but he didn’t want to find out. He kept attacking, hoping to wear it down. The robot kept striking back, not giving Tommy an inch. “I gotta admit, whoever built you knew what they were doing,” Tommy said, backing off. “You have no idea, black ranger,” Enerdrain replied, summoning a canon. Enerdrain to aim at Tommy and fired a white shot. Tommy was hit square in the chest. He felt something flow out of him. Luckily, before Enerdrain could attack again, the girls appeared before him, morphed. “Alright, I knew you girls could do it. I took a big hit, so I’m gonna head back to the base. I’ll give you tips to help you in battle,” Tommy said before teleporting away. Sunset and her friends got into what seemed to be a battle formation as they faced Enerdrain. “What? I wasn’t told of this,” Enerdrain complained, summoning a new army of puttycogs. Meanwhile “Power Rangers?! What are they doing there?” Goldar yelled. “It’s just like Tommy to send someone else to do his dirty work. No matter, Enerdrain’ll just have to knock down to size,” Gasket replied. “This’d better work,” Goldar growled. Meanwhile “Girls, there should be a button on the side of your belts. Press it to summon your individual weapons,” Tommy radioed to the girls. “Thanks, Mr. Oliver,” Sunset replied. Pinkie was first. She pressed the button Tommy was talking about, and something flew off her belt and right in front of her. It was a staff. She took hold of it and jumped into battle. She used the staff to sweep the puttycogs off their feet and jab them. When they tried to surround her, she just spun around, taking them all out. “Wow, this party staff is amazing!” Pinkie exclaimed. Rarity pressed a similar button as two daggers appeared in front of her. She took them and used them to slice down several puttycogs. She jumped over the head of one to kick another and swung her arms out two take down two puttycogs at once. “I absolutely love these diamond daggers,” Rarity said. Fluttershy summoned her weapon next and found it was a shield. She used it to block an incoming attack and then struck back. She didn’t really know how to fight, but she had no trouble defending herself, taking out several puttycogs in the process. “This fluttershield fits my exact style,” Fluttershy admired. Applejack was next. She summoned her weapon, which turned out to be an axe, and began attacking. Her strength helped her effortlessly take down any puttycogs that got anywhere near her. She managed to get the puttycogs to group together and threw her axe at them, destroying them all. “Gee, this here apple axe really gets the job done,” Applejack said. Rainbow was next to summon her weapon, or weapons. Her weapons were a pair of blaster. She jumped above the puttycogs and used her high point to blast several of them. She then spun around, blasting everything she could. She then put the two blaster together and let out a continuous beam, which she used to swing around herself and take down everything else around her. “These rainbow blasters are just awesome,” exclaimed Rainbow. Next, Twilight summoned her weapon, which turned out to be a wand with a sharp looking star on the top. She used it to jab at the puttycogs and levitate them not the air. She also used it to teleport around her enemies and take them down with magical blasts. “Maybe now you won’t mess with me now that I have my Magi wand,” Twilight teased. Finally, Sunset summoned her weapon, which was a red sword. She used it to block attack’s and use her own. She swung her sword gracefully at anything around her until the puttycogs were all defeated. “Gotta say, I love the sun saber,” said Sunset. “What do you say we finish off this guys now?” Rainbow said, pointing at Enerdrain. “Sounds good to me,” replied Pinkie. “Bring it. You’re no match for me,” said Enerdrain. He reloaded his canon and fired at the girls, only for Fluttershy to block it with her shield. Rainbow jumped over and blasted Enerdrain for the air. Rarity ran around her friends and threw her daggers at Enerdrain as Applejack delivered two huge hits with her axe, and Pinkie used her staff to jab at him. Enerdrain fired a laser at the three of them, but Twilight stepped in front and countered the blast with one of her own. She and Rainbow both fired at Enerdrain, causing him to begin to smoke. Sunset took the opportunity to attack with her sword. Enerdrain countered the first few attacks, but Sunset didn’t let up. She kept attacking until Enerdrain fell back. “Girls, Twilight and Sunset have their own individual finishing moves, and Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Fluttershy, Applejack, and Pinkie Pie can all combine their weapons for a third finishing attack. Try it and finish this guy off,” Tommy radioed in. “Sounds like a plan, Mr. Oliver. You hear that, girls?” Sunset asked. “Copy that. Let’s bring ‘em together,” replied Rainbow. Rarity put her daggers sharp end out into Rainbow’s blasters as Pinkie attached her staff to Applejack’s axe. They put their combinations under Fluttershy’s shield and took aim at Enerdrain. Twilight and Sunset drew power into their own weapons and took aim as well. “Harmony Canon, Final Strike!” “Sun Saber, Final Slash!” “Magic Wand, Victory Strike!” Twilight fired a ball of magic, Sunset fired a flaming shot, and the others fired their canon. They all hit Enerdrain, who fell to the ground, defeated, as a result. “That was awesome!” exclaimed Rainbow. “I see what Mr. Oliver meant when he said the suit gives us extra ability,” said Rarity, looking down at her suit. “Who said it was over, rangers,” said a new, Scottish voice. The girls looked up to see their was another robot standing a ways away from the remains of Enerdrain. His armor was silver and bronze. He was holding what looked like another robot by the head, swinging it around like a mace. “Alright, Orbiz. Round and round, and away ya’ go,” the robot said, throwing his companion. It landed on the remains of Enerdrain and inserted some sort of pipe into his neck. Enerdrain got back up with a maniacal laugh. Before the girls could do anything, Enerdrain began to glow, and he grew a hundred times taller. “Now you see what I mean when I said ‘grow’?” Pinkie smirked as her friends gaped at Enerdrain. “Now I can drain all of the energy in the city!” Enerdrain bellowed. “Don’t worry, girls. I’ll handle this one,” Tommy radioed in. Back at the Pawn Shop, Tommy opened an old chest and pulled out a green dagger. “I hope this works,” Tommy muttered to himself. He ran back into the center of the hideout and pout his helmet back on. “Back into action!” Tommy yelled as he teleported to the fight. “How do we fight that thing?” Twilight asked. “You’ll see; don’t worry,” Tommy replied. He pulled out the dagger and put the base to his mouth. He began to blow into it as a trumpet-like tune came out of it. In the distance, a pair of red eyes appeared in the water. The water began to bubble as a giant, mechanical beast arose from it. The beast walked toward the battle as the girls were amazed. “That’s the Green Dragonzord. You’ll get you’re own when I can contact them, but for now I’ll just use this,” Tommy told the girls. He jumped onto the head of the Dragonzord and into the cockpit. Enerdrain charged at the Dragonzord as Tommy prepared for battle. He used the Dragonzord’s arms to block the oncoming attack and returned with one of his own. He bashed at Enerdrain a few times before turning to attack with the drill-tail. Tommy blew another tune from his dagger as rockets came to the fingertips of the Dragonzord. They fired at Enerdrain, who prepared to fire back. Before he could though, the lights on the Dragonzord’s chest glowed red. They fired out a huge, red beam, and Enerdrain exploded. Tommy sent the Dragonzord back to the sea and jumped down to the ground. “No offense, but rocket fingers? That’s pretty cliche,” Rainbow joked. Tommy laughed in return. “Hey, I didn’t design it.” Meanwhile Gasket was fuming as Goldar struggled to keep his anger in check. “It’s not a total loss,” said Sprocket from behind the two. “Quiet, you little tin can!” Gasket yelled at his brother. Sprocket shrank back slightly. “I mean, Tommy was hit. His energy will be draining soon, so all we have to do is figure out a way to take down the rest of the rangers,” he rushed out. Goldar turned toward Gasket. “Your brother’s right. And I think I know just how we can get under the red ranger’s skin,” he said with a snarl. Meanwhile “Hey, uh, Mr. Oliver? I was wondering if it would be alright if I could tell Princess Twilight that my friends and I were rangers. All I’d have to do is write it down in this journal and she’d be able to read it without having to come over herself,” Sunset asked. “Um, no. For two reason, actually. First, if it’s in reading for everyone to see, it would run the risk of someone finding out your identity. Second, Twilight’s not all there, mentally, when it comes to ranger stuff, and I don’t really want her coming over here for that,” Tommy replied. Sunset frowned. She had been looking forward to seeing her friend’s reaction when she found out she was protecting the earth on a larger scale. “Anyhow, how was your first time being a ranger?” Tommy asked. “It was great. I had no idea I was capable of doing all that. Can I ask you a question though?” Sunset replied. “Sure, as long as I can ask you one as well,” Tommy replied. “You want to know what was wrong with our morphers before, don’t you,” Sunset cringed. “Yeah, kind of,” Tommy said. “It was me. I just didn’t really think I would make a good leader. Just, everything I’ve done in the past...I didn’t think I deserved a chance at protecting Earth after trying to overthrow Equestria,” Sunset explained. “That’s understandable. But that’s also why I made you the leader. You see, when I became a ranger, I thought the same thing. I had made so many mistakes in the past, I didn’t think I would be trustworthy enough to help my friends as a ranger,” Tommy explained. “You’re gonna do a great job as the leader. I see myself in you, Sunset. I know you won’t let me down.” “Thanks. I was actually gonna ask why you made me the leader, but you already answered that question,” Sunset said. ‘Maybe I can do this,’ Sunset thought to herself. > Breaking the sun > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Mr. Oliver?” said Vice-Principal Luna, waking Tommy from his daydream. He looked over to her and saw her motions for him to join her. “I-I’ll be right back, class. Keep working,” Tommy instructed. Tommy walked out of his classroom as he and Luna began making their way to Principal Celestia’s office. “So, what’s this about exactly?” asked Tommy. “Don’t worry. There’s just something my sister and I thought you would get a kick out of,” Luna responded. Tommy continued to walk with her, but he suddenly felt extremely drowsy. He stumbled a bit and struggled to keep his eyes open. “Are you okay, Mr. Oliver?” Luna asked, sounding concerned. “Yeah, I-I’m fine, just a little short on sleep is all,” Tommy responded, rubbing his eyes. “That makes sense.” “What’s that mean?” “You’ll see,” Luna said playfully. “This oughta be good,” said Tommy. The two of them finally got to Principal Celestia’s office and stepped in. Principal Celestia had a mischievous look on her face, and there was a television on her desk. “Mr. Oliver, nice to see you. Please, take a seat,” Celestia said, gesturing to the chair on the other side of her desk. Tommy sat down, and Luna stepped in as well with a similar grin on her face. “Principal Celestia, can I ask what this is about?” Tommy said, hoping to find out what was going on. “Well, you see, my sister and I checked the footage on the security cameras that cover the front of the school, and we found some very interesting things,” said Celestia, turning on the television. Tommy looked at the footage and saw Sunset waiting by the statue as Twilight approached her. He looked at the date and dipped his head. This was when he had to defend Sunset and Twilight from those puttycogs on his second day working here. Sure enough, he entered the picture, unseen by the girls, who were suddenly under attack. Tommy watched as he pulled out his activator key and morphed into the Black Dino Ranger. “As we said before, Mr. Oliver, we’ve seen some strange things here at CHS, but this tops them all,” said Celestia, giggling in the process. Tommy sighed. He couldn’t believe he was so stupid as to morph on camera. “Let me guess, I’m fired. I get it, but I’m gonna have to ask for that footage,” he said, standing up. “Oh no,” said Luna. “You’re not fired. We were just shocked is all. You can keep your job here, so long as none of the students are in danger.” “Really?” Tommy asked in shock. “Of course. Remember, two of our students turned into demons. We’ve even had a visit from a princess from another dimension,” Celestia added. “Alright then. I can’t guarantee the students are out of harm’s way, but I can guarantee that I will do all I can to protect them if they are,” Tommy said. “Sounds good. And do not worry, we’ll keep this meeting between us,” Celestia said. “I would like to ask, however, why exactly did you come here?” Luna asked. Tommy rubbed the back of his head. “I’ve, uh, got my reasons. I really just wanted to get away from all the rangers stuff, yet here we are,” he joked, making the sisters giggle. Meanwhile “So, Goldar, what’s this plan of yours?” Gasket asked sarcastically. “Simple. Tommy’s energy is draining, so we don’t have to worry about him. That means all we have to do is take down these ‘Harmony Rangers’. I’ve done a little digging, and found some things that could really get under their skin. Specifically, the Red Ranger,” Goldar explained. “So? We’ve already tried that before with Tommy remember?” Sprocket joked. “You fool, don’t you see? I’m gonna engage in battle with her and get into her head. She’s gonna crumble like a cookie,” Goldar retorted. “Don’t call my brother a fool! And what makes you so sure that she’ll fall? She has her friends with her remember? And how do you know they won’t beat you?” Gasket snarled back. Goldar laughed in response. “Oh please, you know as well as I do that those rangers don’t stand a chance fighting me. Or anyone here for that matter, except for Squatt and Baboo. As for her friends, I have a little distraction for them.” “Fine, but remember our deal,” Gasket said, pointing his mechanical finger at Goldar. “Of course. I simply absorb their power, revive Zedd and Rita, go to Equestria, and leave you to take Earth,” said Goldar. With that, he flew away. “I’m still not sure we can trust him, brother,” said Sprocket. “Yes, dear. How do we know that he’ll hold good on his end of our agreement?” asked Archerina. “I don’t know for sure, but I have a feeling we can. After all, if he does in fact hold good on his promise, we’ll be able to take Earth no problem,” Gasket relayed back. Meanwhile The bell finally rang, signaling the end of class. Tommy took a long and deserved sigh. Sunset walked up to him. “So, what was that all about?” Sunset asked. “It’s fine. I’ll explain later. Anyhow, tell the others to meet at the base for some training,” Tommy responded. “Sure thing, Mr. Oliver,” Sunset said, giving a playful salute and leaving the classroom. Tommy sat down at his desk. Suddenly, he felt very drowsy once again. He didn’t fall asleep, but he knew that if his will weren’t so strong, he would have. Tommy stood back up and teleported to the base. He took to his computer and began to work on contact with the Thunderzords. It wasn’t any more than a few minutes until the girls teleported there as well. “Alright, girls. You’ve already been victorious against one of the Machine Empire’s warriors, but I can assure you that there will be much more to come. Also, there will be times when you cannot morph, due to public presence. That being said, you will need to learn how to fight, unmorphed,” Tommy told them. Fluttershy gasped. “I’m sorry, but I have absolutely no fighting experience at all.” “That’s alright, Fluttershy. It gets easier with time,” Tommy responded, smiling. “Quick question,” Twilight said, raising her hand. “What do you mean ‘the Machine Empire’?” “Oh right. I should tell you that the Machine Empire attacked Earth in the year 1996. During this time, I led the Zeo Rangers as Zeo Ranger 5. The Machine Empire is run by King Mondo, Queen Machina, and their son Prince Sprocket. They’re ruthless, and they take no prisoners. So we have to be stronger than them. Hence, the reason we are here,” Tommy explained. Twilight and the others went wide-eyed. Tommy surmised they had never heard this level of evil, but he was more than sure they could handle it. “So, start by trying to spar without morphing. I’d join you, but I’m really tired, and I still gotta get those zords ready for battle,” Tommy said. With that, the girls entered the dojo, and Tommy sat back down at his computer. He rubbed his head again, feeling even more tired. In the dojo, the girls paired off into groups: Twilight and Sunset would spar in one, Applejack and Rainbow Dash in another, and Pinkie, Fluttershy, and Rarity in the third. “Here, I think we’ll need these,” said Sunset, offering Twilight some boxing gloves. Twilight took and put them on. “Thanks. I’ll try not to use my power too much. Other than that fight the other day, I’ve never fought physically in my life.” “Don’t worry. I have a little experience. I’ll give you some pointers,” Sunset responded. She and Twilight began to lightly spar, while Applejack and Rainbow were already going at it. Luckily the two weren’t arguing like they usually did. “So, you’ve got the trained moves, I’ve got the instinctive ones,” said Rainbow. “Sure, like your ‘instinctive moves’ are gonna be better than mine,” Applejack countered. Rainbow rolled her eyes and threw a punch, which Applejack dodged. Applejack then grabbed onto Rainbow’s arm and flipped Rainbow over her back. “Told ya,” Applejack smirked. Rainbow responded by quickly turning and sending a kick into Applejack’s gut. “You were saying?” Rainbow smirked back. Meanwhile, Rarity, Fluttershy, and Pinkie were trying to figure out what to do. “Maybe we could use this,” said Pinkie, holding up a cushioned sparring mat. “What do you mean, Pinkie?” asked Rarity. “Simple, I hold this up, and you two punch it,” Pinkie responded with a smile. “Oh, I’m not sure about that, Pinkie. What if I hurt you?” Fluttershy said. “Oh I’ll be fine. What’s The worst that could happen?” “Pinkie’s right, dear. Just take a shot,” Rarity offered. Fluttershy took a deep breath and gave the mat an ever so soft touch with her barely clenched fist. She shrieked and quickly backed away. “Fluttershy, it’s alright. Pinkie’s not gonna get mad and hit back or anything,” Rarity said. She then looked at Pinkie. “Right?” Pinkie shook her head profusely, causing some sort of rattling noise to emanate from her head. Rarity tilted her head in confusion at the act, but she then turned to Fluttershy. “See, darling? Here, watch this,” said Rarity, lining up. She punched at the mat as hard as she could, making Pinkie stumble a bit. “Woah, that was a nice shot. How did you do that?” Pinkie asked. “Like I said, it’s simple. Why don’t you give it another go, Fluttershy? Only, a little harder this time,” Rarity offered. “If you insist,” responded Fluttershy. She stepped up to Pinkie, clenched her fist, and punched. Pinkie actually fell back due to how much harder Fluttershy punched than she had expected. “Oh, are you alright? I’m so sorry,” said Fluttershy, extending her hand. “Are you kidding? That was great. I just didn’t think I’d need to push back that much,” Pinkie responded, making Fluttershy blush. Meanwhile, Tommy was nearly finished making contact with the Thunderzords. All he needed to do now was revive his White Tigerzord. Unfortunately, the alarm went off, signaling that there was another attack. The girls ran into the room, and Tommy pulled up the transmission. “That’s right outside the mall. Come on, let’s go get ‘em,” said Sunset. The seven girls lined up and exchanged determined nods. “It’s Morphin’ Time!” The seven girls morphed into the Power Rangers Harmony League just as they had done before. “Good luck, girls,” said Tommy. “Aren’t ya’ comin’, Mr. Oliver?” asked Applejack. “Not this time. I gotta stay here and get the zords online. Besides, I’m still a little short on sleep,” Tommy responded. “Alright,” said Applejack. With that, the seven girls teleported out of the base and to the scene of action. “Remember, protecting the innocent comes first,” reminded Sunset as they drew their weapons. “Right, we’ll be careful,” responded Twilight. The seven girls met the puttycogs in battle. Unknown to them, Goldar took a place on the roof of the mall and waited for the right time to strike. Fluttershy did her best to take out as many puttycogs as she could with her shield. She regretted not asking for a try holding up the mat from earlier. Luckily, the puttycogs were pretty clumsy. She hit one with her shield and ducked under another one’s punch. She then took that one out as well. Sunset took one down with her sword, and Rainbow took down a few with her blasters. “I wonder if whoever sent these is gonna show their face,” shouted Rainbow. “You never know. Be on your guard,” responded Sunset. Twilight used her wand to put up a shield around herself and did a neat spin move, taking out several puttycogs at once. A few tried to blast her all at once, but she deflected their attacks back at them. “Don’t get the wrong idea. I really have no idea how to actually fight. This is all the suit,” Twilight shouted mid fight. “Take some of the credit. After all, what good is a nice dress if there’s no one to wear it?” Rarity said, slicing through a few puttycogs with her daggers. “Hey, I wonder if we can still use our geodes while we’re morphed?” Rainbow asked, blasting an attacking puttycog. “Who knows? Maybe we can,” responded Pinkie, jabbing threw a puttycog and tripping another with her staff. As if in response, Applejack forced at least twenty puttycogs in her direction and then sliced them all down with her axe. “Guess that answers my question,” said Rainbow. She then used her super speed to dodge an attack and take down another puttycog. “Yeah, but it’s not like reading these things’ minds is gonna do us any good,” joked Sunset. “Don’t sell yourself short. You’re the leader after all,” said Twilight. “Yeah. And you’ve got the best weapon out of-WATCH OUT!” Rainbow yelled. Sunset quickly turned and was scooped up in the arms of what looked like a monkey with wings and golden armor. “Let me go!” Sunset shouted. “That’s not happening,” the monkey replied in a dark, gravely voice, making Sunset grimace under her helmet. The monkey flew back towards the mall, dodging a few blasts from Rainbow and Twilight. Eventually, he dropped Sunset into a small pit. Sunset tried to teleport away, but it wouldn’t work. “Your teleportation has no power here, Sunset Shimmer,” the monkey said. “Who are you? And how do you know who I am?” Sunset demanded, drawing her sword. “I have been watching you for a long time. I must say, you are a huge disappointment. As for me, I am Goldar, destroyer of anyone foolish enough to challenge me,” Goldar answered. “What do you want with me?” “I have a reputation for challenging red rangers. You have no chance of defeating me, but I figured I’d give you a chance,” Goldman responded, unsheathing his sword. Sunset pulled her own sword and charged Goldar. She tried to hit him, but he blocked her sword with his own and kicked her back. He then charged back and swung his sword down upon her. Sunset dodged, but Goldar was quick to attack again. He slashed Sunset, causing sparks to erupt from her suit. She attacked with her sword again, but Goldar ducked under the attack and sent his own, pushing Sunset back again. She tried to get above him and attack from there, but Goldar spread his wings and knocked her down again. “No more messing around. Sun Saber! Final Slash!” Sunset yelled, firing her blade at Goldar again. But Goldar simply took a deep breath and shot scorching flames from his mouth, incinerating the attack and demorphing Sunset. Sunset fell to her knees and hit the ground. “How pathetic. And to think Tommy Oliver thought you would be strong enough to stop me,” Goldman said, approaching Sunset, who was trying to get back up. “I haven’t been beat yet. Not while I’m still breathing,” Sunset said, hoping Goldar would back off. “You’re such a joke. You think you can beat me now? You think you can beat me ever? How can you when you’re all alone?” Goldar taunted. “I am never alone. My friends will always be there when I fall,” Sunset responded, starting to get up. “Friends? What friends? If you’re referring to the other rangers, they can’t possibly be your friends. After all, they only accepted you to follow orders,” Goldar responded, laughing maniacally. “What are you talking about? They’re my best friends,” Sunset said, her voice growing uncertain. “I know all about you and what happened at the Fall Formal. Do you think your so-called ‘friends’ would still be here if it weren’t for that princess, telling them to treat you as their friend?” Goldar asked. Sunset tried to find the confidence to respond, but Goldar didn’t let her. “The answer is no. If she would’ve done nothing, you would have become an outcast. But instead, she pathetically decided to trust you. Your ‘friends’ only call their friend because they dare not disobey a princess. But deep inside, they still think of you as the bully of CHS.” “N-No! You’re lying! You’re...You’re wrong!” Sunset shouted with tears forming in her eyes. “You can say that all you want, but you know I’m right,” Goldar responded. Sunset looked down at the ground as the tears in her eyes began to flow freely. Was her friendship really just a lie? A charade? Sunset couldn’t accept it, but she couldn’t think of anything to counter Goldar’s argument. She began to openly cry as Goldar approached her once again. “Now that I’ve exposed the truth, perhaps I should finish you off,” Goldar said, raising his sword. Sunset wanted to get out of the way of the attacking, but couldn’t even think of a reason to. She simply looked toward the ground, still crying, and prepared for the inevitable. “That’s not happening, Goldar,” said a new voice from outside the pit. Sunset looked up. It was Tommy, morphed and positively glowing. He leaped down into the pit, landing a kick on Goldar in the process. “So, the powerful Tommy Oliver thinks he can defeat me after twenty-five years. You’ve grown old and weak. You don’t stand a chance,” Goldar taunted. “Being older didn’t stop me from beating Rito,” Tommy responded. Tommy drew his staff and attacked Goldar. Goldar countered, and the two went at it, equally matched. Tommy managed to sweep Goldar off his feet, and putting him on the ground. Tommy turned his staff over and fired a few lasers from the base. Goldar fired a beam of his own, putting Tommy on his back. Tommy fired a few lasers above Goldar, creating a huge cloud of dust. Goldar spread his wings and flapped the dust away, but he found no trace of Tommy or Sunset. “You may have gotten away this time, but I swear I will get you!” Goldar shouted into the air, thinking they climbed out of the pit. He spread his wings again and flew away. Tommy and Sunset reappeared, Tommy having used his Dino Power to turn both himself and Sunset invisible. “Are you alright?” Tommy asked Sunset. All he got in response was a half-hearted nod. Tommy noticed Sunset was hiding her face from him. “Wow, Goldar must’ve really done a number on you. Don’t worry, he gets easier to fight the more you do it. The others finished off the puttycogs and are looking for you. I told them to get back to the base. Come on, let’s go join them,” said Tommy, extending his hand to Sunset. She took it, and the two climbed out of the pit and teleported to the base. “Oh my gosh! Sunset, are you okay?” Twilight practically screamed when she saw the state Sunset was in. Sunset wiped her face and said, “Yeah, I’m fine.” “A-Are you sure? You look really beat up,” said Rainbow. “I said I was fine. I just overdid it a little,” Sunset grunted. “We’re sorry we couldn’t help you. We tried to find you, but there were just puttycogs everywhere,” Rarity said. “It’s fine. I gotta go,” Sunset groaned, turning to leave. “Hold on. You’ve taken some serious damage. Goldar is really strong, and he might attack you again. I think you should stay here tonight and get some rest. Besides, it’s really late. The battle took a lot longer than I thought it would. Don’t worry, I’ll come up with an alibi to tell your family,” Tommy said before she left. Sunset hesitated a moment before answering. “Sure, thanks. I just really need to be alone right now.” “That’s fine. Go ahead and take that third room to the right,” Tommy said. Sunset nodded and walked away from the group. “What’s her problem?” Sunset could hear Rainbow say. “She took a few really huge hits. Some in different ways than others. She just needs some space, and we should give it to her,” Tommy responded. Sunset walked into the room Tommy was talking about and found a bedroom. She took off her jacket and laid down. The bed was somewhat comfortable. She couldn’t get Goldar’s words out of her head. Were her friendships really fake? Did her friends really just take her in because Twilight told them to? She pulled out her journal and thought about writing to Twilight, but she couldn’t find the words. She put the journal back and drifted off to sleep, tears still filling her eyes. Meanwhile “It seems your plan actually worked, Goldar. The red ranger’s down, and I doubt we’re gonna be seeing her again anytime soon,” Gasket congratulated. “I told you it would work. Now all we have to do is destroy the other rangers and get that Equestrian Magic and Morphing Energy,” Goldar responded. “At last, our victory, longed deserved, is at hand,” Gasket said. > The sun will never stop rising > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sunset walked slowly into the cafeteria, her hood drawn. She had no intention of socializing today, or any day for that matter. She didn’t want to believe it, but Goldar had successfully discouraged her. She had no reason to believe her friendships didn’t start on anything but lies. She took a seat and began to eat lunch in silence. When someone tried to join her, she shot them a death stare. They immediately backed off. Twilight looked over at her friend. “What's going on with her?” “Ah’m not sure. She’s been actin’ different ever since she fought Goldar,” responded Applejack. “You girls don’t think she lost, and that made her lose her confidence?” Fluttershy squeaked out. “No way. Sunset’s way stronger than that. Something else had to have happened,” said Rainbow. “I still think we should go talk to her. After all, we’re her friends, and I know just how to cheer her up,” said Pinkie, beginning to pull something out of her pocket. Rarity quickly stopped Pinkie. “Mr. Oliver said that she took a few hard hits and that we should give her some time, and we’re going to do just that.” “Well, we’re going to the base to train after school. Why don’t we ask her then?” asked Rainbow. Twilight looked over at Sunset again and frowned. She wanted to help, but she knew Sunset wasn’t in the mood to talk. All she could do was look back at her other friends. “I don’t know. If she wants to talk about it, she will. But if she doesn’t, we have no right to intrude. Let’s just go to the base and see what happens.” The girls agreed, and they all made their way to their next classes. Meanwhile “Please, big brother. I’ve been practicing a lot, and you promised me I could take over the world with you,” Sprocket begged. “But I just don’t want you to get too hurt. We spent our entire childhood arguing who gets to rule the Machine Empire, and we’re just now beginning to act like real brothers to each other. I’m not gonna lose you now,” Gasket responded. The two brothers were arguing whether or not Sprocket should get to join Gasket in Earth’s conquest. “But what does it matter? Sure, there are other rangers out there, but they won’t know about the invasion long enough to stop us. You said it yourself,” Sprocket said. Gasket sighed. He knew he wasn’t gonna convince his brother not to come with him. “Alright. After Goldar goes to Equestria, you can help me take over the earth. But on one condition.” “Name it,” Sprocket said excitedly. “You let Archerina set you up on a date with that warrior she talked about before,” Gasket teased. “No way! I’m not going on a date with a Trubian. Please, big brother, just let me do this with you,” Sprocket pleaded again. “Fine. I can’t say no to my little brother. Now all we need to do is wait for Goldar to destroy Tommy and those Harmony Rangers,” Gasket said. “Their era was short,” Sprocket joked. Later The girls were at the base, training like they usually did. Twilight and Rainbow were sparring with each other, and Sunset was letting loose on a punching bag. Twilight ducked under a kick that Rainbow sent her way, following with a sweep of the leg that put Rainbow on the ground. “You’re really starting to get the hang of this,” complimented Rainbow. “Thanks. I honestly didn’t know if I’d ever get used to fighting with morphing,” Twilight admitted. Rainbow and Twilight looked over to Sunset, who was still beating up the punching bag. She was beginning to leave holes in the sides of it. “That poor punching bag,” Rainbow joked. “I know what I said earlier, but I’m starting to think we should talk to her,” Twilight said. Sunset planted one more punch into the bag and stopped. “If I wanted to talk, I would,” she said aggressively. She took a deep breath and continued. “I’m fine, really. You don’t need to worry about me turning back into an evil demon or anything.” “Woah, what? Where did that come from?” Twilight asked. “Yeah, sense when are you worried about turning evil again? That’s Twilight’s thing,” added Rainbow. Twilight glared at Rainbow. “Seriously? Do you have to right now?” “I’m just trying to lighten the mood here.” Twilight took a deep breath and turned back to Sunset. “What is going on? We’re your friends, we want to help you. But we can’t if you don’t talk to us.” Sunset simply closed her eyes and shook her head in disgust. She turned to leave, saying only, “Yeah right.” Twilight and Rainbow looked back at each other. “Think we should ask Mr. Oliver what’s going on?” Rainbow asked. “Yeah, that’s probably our best bet,” responded Twilight. As if on cue, Tommy walked into the dojo, joined by the others. “Hey, girls. Is Sunset here?” Tommy asked. “We actually wanted to talk to you about that,” Twilight responded. “What’s going on?” Rarity asked with a concerned tone. “She, um...Rainbow, if you could?” Twilight said. “She thinks she’s gonna turn back into a demon,” Rainbow said bluntly. “What? That’s insane,” said Applejack. “Why would she think that?” asked Fluttershy. “We don’t know. She’s been acting like that ever since she squared off with Goldar,” responded Twilight. “You think that has something to do with it?” Pinkie asked. “Actually, it might,” Tommy answered. “Please, come with me. I think I should tell you something.” The six girls followed Tommy into the main room of the base and each took a seat. Tommy pulled up his own chair and sat in front of the girls. “When Sunset fought with Goldar, he tried to get into her head. He told her things, using his twisted sense of logic...” Tommy took a breath before continuing. “He told her that her friendships were based off the orders of Twilight, the one from Equestria. He said that the only reason you became friends with her was because you were following orders. I managed to get him to back off, but it was too late. His words were already taking affect on Sunset.” “So that’s why she’s been avoiding us. She thinks we’re not true friends,” Twilight said. “But that’s crazy. Sure, we had kind of a rough past with Sunset, but that’s all it is, the past. We all moved past that a long time ago,” Rainbow countered. “Rainbow, put yerself in her shoes. She thinks the only reason we became friends with her is because Princess Twilight told us to,” Applejack responded. “She thinks that we didn’t really want to be her friends. After all we’ve been through together, I can imagine that would have quite the effect,” Rarity added. “But why would Sunset even believe Goldar?” Fluttershy asked. “Goldar is surprisingly persuasive. He played a similar trick on me, and it almost worked,” Tommy explained. The girls gave him confused looks. “What do you mean he did a similar thing to you?” Rarity asked. Tommy went wide-eyed. “That’s right. I never told you how I became a ranger. I guess now’s as good a time as ever.” Tommy explained to the girls how Rita Repulsa captured him and turned him into her puppet. He told of how he sent Zordon to another dimension, and how he nearly destroyed his friends and assisted with world domination. “If it weren’t for Jason not giving up on me, we probably wouldn’t be sitting here right now,” Tommy said. The six girls took a moment to think this whole thing over, until Pinkie sprung up from her chair. “I have an idea!” Pinkie exclaimed. “This oughta be good,” Applejack whispered. “Maybe Mr. Oliver could tell Sunset what he just told us, and she can get her confidence back,” Pinkie said. “I can see where you’re coming from, but that wouldn’t really solve the problem Sunset’s having,” said Rainbow. “I think we should try it. It’s not like any of us has a better idea,” said Applejack. “I’ll try it, but I can’t guarantee it would work,” said Tommy. “We should probably leave, in that case,” said Twilight. Just then, the alarm went off, signaling there was another attack. “What do you know? An attack that actually kind of helps us,” joked Rainbow. “You girls go. I’ll talk to Sunset,” Tommy instructed. The girls teleported out of the base and to the attack. Tommy pulled up his communicator and attempted to contact Sunset. “Sunset, you there?” Tommy got no response. “Sunset?” Still nothing. “C’mon, I just wanna talk. You’re not in trouble or anything.” Tommy was about to give up when he heard Sunset respond. “At the base, or somewhere else?” Sunset asked through her communicator. “The base is fine. I’ll make this quick; I know you’re not in a good mood. Don’t worry, the others aren’t here,” Tommy responded. A few seconds later, Sunset arrived at the base. She wore a half angry, half depressed ok on her face. “Come, take a seat. There’s something I think you should see,” Tommy offered. Meanwhile The girls arrived at the scene to see the golden-armored monkey that attacked Sunset. “Took you long enough. I was starting to think you were just gonna let me have this world,” Goldar taunted. “That’s never gonna happen,” Applejack said. “You hurt our friend, so we’re gonna make you pay,” Pinkie shouted. Goldar simply laughed in response. “You don’t really expect to beat me without your leader, do you?” “I guess we’re gonna find out,” said Twilight. “It’s Morphin’ Time!” The six girls morphed as Goldar charged. Rainbow drew her blaster and opened fire, but the shots didn’t even faze Goldar. Pinkie lunged at Goldar with her staff, but he simply shoved it aside and struck her with his sword. Applejack swung her axe at Goldar, and Rarity attacked with her daggers. Goldar ducked under the axe and blocked the daggers. He followed it up with a kick to Applejack’s stomach and a slash at Rarity from his sword. Twilight swiped her wand at Goldar, who just grabbed onto it and held it in the air, leaving Twilight open to attack. Fluttershy launched Rainbow at Goldar with her shield and went in for an attack of her own. Goldar swept Twilight off her feet and countered Rainbow’s attack. He then kicked Fluttershy’s shield out of the way and slashed her several times before Twilight tried to fight back. Goldar ducked under Twilight’s attack, slashing her in the process. Rainbow, Applejack, Rarity, and Pinkie surrounded Goldar on four different sides, but Goldar unfolded his wing and swept them all down. Meanwhile “Long live Empress Rita!” shouted the Green Ranger as he entered the cockpit of the Megazord. The other five rangers attacked him, but he was too fast. The head of the Megazord began to explode as the rangers fell out of it, followed by the Green Ranger. The rangers charged at the Green Ranger, but he held his ground. He slashed anyone that came near him. Eventually, he fired his power at the rangers from his shield. “Think you’re so strong? Take me on!” the Red Ranger challenged. The Green and Red Ranger fought, equally matched at first, but the Green Ranger quickly gained the upper hand. He swept the Red Ranger into the air and threw him down the cliff. “To the end of the Power Rangers!” the Green Ranger shouted in triumph. Sunset looked away from the monitor and at Tommy. “What does this have to do with me?” “You’ll see. These are the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, the first team of rangers on Earth,” Tommy explained. Sunset widened her eyes in amazement. “Weren’t you a part of this team?” “I was, but not quite yet,” Tommy answered. “Now watch. This part’s important.” Sunset turned her attention back toward the monitor. “While he was trapped here, his DNA was monitored by the Command Center’s scanners,” said Alpha 5. “That’s great. Let’s put it on screen and find out who this guy is,” said Billy, the former Blue Ranger. “Doing so now. Observe the viewing globe, rangers,” instructed Alpha. The five rangers gathered around the viewing globe as it began to show a blurry outline of the unmorphed Green Ranger. The picture slowly came into focus and showed a face that was all too familiar to the rangers. “No way,” said Kimberly, the Pink Ranger. “Tommy’s the Green Ranger,” said Jason, the Red Ranger. The monitor shut off, and Sunset looked at Tommy, who nodded as if to answer her unspoken question. “You were-“ “Evil. Yeah. Rita Repulsa used me as her puppet, and I nearly destroyed my friends. I nearly helped her conquer Earth. If it weren’t for Jason, we wouldn’t be here right now,” said Tommy. Sunset looked at the black monitor and then back at Tommy. “Why did you show me this?” “Don’t you see? You and I have the same backstory, save for a few details. This is what I meant when I said I saw myself in you. I moved past my mistakes, and I know you can too,” Tommy assured. “But...but what if Goldar was right? What if my friends really did only become my friends because someone told them to?” “Let me answer that by asking this: what would Goldar know about friendship?” Sunset looked down at her morpher. She looked back to Tommy, but sighed. “I-I don’t know. I’m sorry, I just need some more time to think this over.” “That’s fine. Take all the time you need,” Tommy responded. Sunset teleported out of the base, leaving Tommy alone. Tommy turned the monitor back on to see the others were taking a beating from Goldar. “Dino Thunder! Power Up!” Tommy morphed and teleported into action. Meanwhile Sunset landed at the front of the school. She sighed and took a seat in the front steps. It wasn’t long before she heard a familiar voice. “Hey, Sunset, long-time-no-see,” said Flash Sentry. Sunset turned. “Oh hey, yeah.” Flash took a seat beside her. “What’s been going on with you lately?” “What are you talking about?” “You’ve been acting...different. Why?” Sunset took a deep breath. “Why did you become my friend?” “You’re gonna have to be a little more specific.” “I mean, after what happened at the Fall Formal, I didn’t think you’d want to see me ever again.” Flash widened his eyes in surprise. “Oh, um...” “It’s because Twilight told you to, isn’t it?” Sunset accused, cutting Flash off. “I’m not gonna lie, I was pretty upset after all that. But that didn’t mean I stopped caring about you.” Sunset looked Flash in the eye. “What...what does that mean exactly?” “It means that even though...what happened happened, I always had a spot in my heart for you,” Flash admitted, blushing. “What?! I mean, what about Princess Twilight?” Sunset asked, trying not to sound surprised or excited. “Okay, yes. I had a thing for her. But I never really forgot about you. I-I was an idiot then, I...uh-“ Flash was cut off. “Are you saying that you never got over me?” Sunset asked, struggling not to sound excited. “Well, we never did officially break up,” Flash said, his face beet red. Meanwhile “Big brother! The Red Ranger’s getting her confidence back! We have to attack her now!” Sprocket yelled at his brother. “I hear you loud and clear, little brother. Clank, send the puttycogs to attack the Red Ranger!” Gasket shouted. “Right away, your majesty,” said Clank. Meanwhile “What are you saying?” Sunset teased. “What do you think I’m saying?” Flash teased back. “I don’t know. Why don’t you scoot a little closer and tell me?” Sunset said, her face turning red as well. “Alright then,” said Flash, scooting a bit closer to Sunset. The two leaned in closer to each other. They could feel the heat of each other as their lips were about to meet. Before they could kiss, a swarm of puttycogs appeared before them, making them both get up and start backing away. The puttycogs slowly approached them as Sunset began to reach for her morpher. She looked over at Flash and realized she couldn’t morph in front of him. She resulted in simply punching one of the puttycogs, causing it fall down the stairs. Sunset and Flash ran up to the top of the stairs, closely followed by the puttycogs. Flash tried to get the doors to the school open, but they wouldn’t budge. The two of them were cornered. “What are these things?” Flash asked. Sunset looked at Flash and recognized the fear in his eyes. She clenched her fist and stepped forward. She then proceeded to fight the puttycogs, unmorphed. They were a bit tougher since she didn’t have her ranger power, but she didn’t let that stop her. She kicked one down and punched another. Flash looked in surprise at Sunset, who was still fighting. It wasn’t until he saw her wrist that he figured everything out. She was a Power Ranger. Sunset took down the last puttycog, and Flash approached. “That was amazing! I can’t believe you’re a Power Ranger!” Flash said in excitement. “Wha-how did you know?” Sunset asked in shock. “I saw your morpher. Don’t worry, I won’t tell a soul,” Flash promised. Sunset’s face flushed again with embarrassment. Her morpher beeped, signaling her friends needed her. “I gotta go,” she told Flash. “No problem,” Flash said, waving goodbye. “Oh, and um...thanks,” Sunset said before running out of view. Flash was confused. “For what?” he yelled, getting no response. Once she was out of Flash’s view, Sunset spoke into her morpher. “What’s going on?” “We’re getting pummeled here, Sunset. We need you!” Twilight said on the other end. Sunset took a deep breath. “I’ll be right there. Just hold on.” Meanwhile Goldar hadn’t taken a single hit, and his opponents were almost down for the count. “And to think you were chosen by Tommy Oliver himself. I almost feel bad for destroying you,” said Goldar. He then shot a red lighting beam out of his eyes, hitting all five of the rangers. “Not!” Goldar ducked under a surprise attack from Tommy, hitting Tommy with his sword in the process. Tommy landed between Goldar and the rangers, who were all down as well. “I seem to remember you being stronger, Tommy. I told you, you’re an old man,” Goldar taunted. “I may be old, but I still have a few tricks up my sleeve,” said Tommy, drawing his Bracheostaff. He spun a disk on it and aimed the tip at Goldar. A few lightning bolts hit Goldar, pushing him back. Goldar struck back by shooting flames out his mouth, hitting Tommy and causing him to demorph. “Earth’s doom is at hand, and Equestria won’t be far behind,” Goldar said. “I wouldn’t be too sure about that, Goldar,” shouted a new voice. Goldar was attacked from behind and hit the ground. He turned to see the Red Ranger had returned. “So, you didn’t get enough last time,” Goldar challenged. “You’re never gonna bring me down, Goldar. I’ll always be there to stop you!” Sunset yelled back. “We’ll just see about that!” Goldar yelled, spreading his wings and flying at Sunset. Twilight took the opportunity to run up to Tommy, who was still on the ground. “Mr. Oliver, are you alright?” Twilight asked her teacher. “I’m fine, Twilight, but I need to get back to the base,” Tommy responded. With that, he teleported away. Goldar swung his sword at Sunset, but she managed to dodge it and kick Goldar in the back. Goldar swung his sword again, but Sunset ducked under it and slashed Goldar with her own sword. Goldar jumped and tried to kick Sunset, but she caught him and threw him back into the air. She then jumped after him, slashing him in midair. “I seem to have underestimated you. No matter, let’s see you match this one. Cyclopsis!” Goldar challenged. A giant, white robot appeared, causing the girls to stumble back. Goldar turned into a fiery ball and flew up into the robot. The robot looked down and fired a red laser, sending the girls flying. “Girls, I finally managed to contact the Thunderzords. They’re on their way now!” Tommy radioed to the girls. Sure enough, six more giant robots were running toward the scene. Among them were a green lion, a yellow griffin, a pink firebird, a blue unicorn, a red dragon, and a white tiger. “These aren’t actually color coded, so I’ll just say who gets what. Pinkie, you’ll pilot the pink firebirdzord. Fluttershy, you get the yellow griffinzord. Rarity, you’ll control the blue unicornzord. applejack, you’ll use the green lionzord. Rainbow, you’ll be piloting the red dragonzord. Sunset, you get my old White Tigerzord.” “What about Twilight?” asked Fluttershy. “Don’t worry. I have something special for her,” Tommy responded. Twilight shrugged, and the girls jumped into their zords. Cyclopsis fired another laser that bounced from zord to zord. “Applejack, Rarity, Fluttershy, Pinkie, Rainbow, you five can combine into the Thunder Megazord. Sunset, you can use the Tiger Zord’s battle mode to fight on your own,” Tommy said. “Sounds like a plan, Mr. Oliver. You hear that, girls?” Rainbow asked. “Loud and clear,” said Applejack. “Goldar doesn’t stand a chance now!” Pinkie exclaimed. “Alright then. Let’s bring em’ together,” Rainbow instructed. The arms and legs detached from the lionzord as the griffin and unicorn folded up. The dragonzord changed into a humanoid figure and landed its legs into the tops of the unicorn and griffin. The firebirdzord flew up and folded itself around the waist of the dragonzord. The arms of the lionzord covered the arms of the dragonzord, with the head of the lionzord acting as a helmet. The Thunder Megazord was now ready for battle. “I’ll try the battle mode,” said Sunset. With that, the Tigerzord folded in its legs and unfolded to grow arms and legs. A head came out the top, signifying that the Tigerzord’s battle mode was ready. Both contraptions drew swords as Cyclopsis drew two wrist blades. Cyclopsis charged and delivered a few shot to the Megazords. The Tigerzord blocked a shot with its sword, and the Thunder Megazord landed a shot of its own. Cyclopsis fired its fist at the rangers, causing them to stumble back. The Tigerzord fired a few fireballs out of its mouth as the Thunder Megazord went in for another shot. Cyclopsis tried to fight back, but the attacks of the Thunder Megazord were all but unknown. All it could do was take the incoming shots from both Megazords. “System overloading. Must retreat,” said the control voice of Cyclopsis. “You rangers got lucky. I’ll be back to finish what I started,” said Goldar. With that, Cyclopsis glowed before disappearing. Later “I’m really sorry about all that, girls,” Sunset said. “Don’t feel bad. Mr. Oliver told us what happened. We would’ve thought the same thing if we were in your place,” Rainbow said. “And we didn’t become friends with ya’ just because Princess Twilight told us to,” Applejack said. “Yeah, we would’ve done that anyway,” Rarity added. “Really?” Sunset asked. “For sure,” said Fluttershy. “Oh, you guys are the best,” said Sunset. With that, the four of them pulled into a group hug. After it ended, they began to walk away. “Oh, you girls go ahead, I’ll catch up,” called Sunset. Tommy walked up to Sunset. “I’m proud of you. It’s never easy to overcome what you did,” he told her. “Thanks, Mr. Oliver. But, really quick, I need to tell you something,” Sunset said. “Flash Sentry kinda found out I was a ranger. He swore he wouldn’t tell anyone, but I tough I should tell you anyhow.” “I’ll have to have a talk with him, but everything should be fine as long as he keeps his word,” Tommy responded. The two of them began to walk away when they heard the statue portal become active. They both looked over to see what was happening, and four human males passed through the portal. They spoke a few words before starting to walk away when Tommy recognized three of them. “Connor? Trent? Casey?” Tommy asked. Sunset simply wore a shocked look on her face. The four humans turned to see the two of them standing there. “Okay, maybe we should’ve waited until nighttime to come back,” said one of the humans. “Ya’ think?” Said another. > Quick reunion > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Um...what...WHY DID YOU JUST COME THROUGH THE PORTAL TO EQUESTRIA?” shouted Sunset Shimmer at the four humans that just came through the portal. “It’s kind of a long...Wait, are you Sunset Shimmer?” asked one man. “Yeah, how do you know? And who are you?” Sunset retorted, taking a step forward. Tommy stepped in front of Sunset. “Hold on, Sunset. I know these people. This is Connor, one of my old students from Reefside,” he said, pointing at one human. “This is Trent, another one of my old students.” “Nice to meet you,” the human Tommy had called Trent said. “They’re also the red and white Dino Rangers,” Tommy added, making Connor’s eyes go wide with shock. Sunset pointed at the other two humans. “And these two?” “This is Casey, and...I’m sorry, I don’t believe we’ve met,” said Tommy, facing the fourth human standing next to Casey. “It’s fine. I’m Jared. It’s an honor to meet you,” the man responded. Connor shook his head, braking himself out of his trance. “Okay, now that we’ve got introductions out of the way, maybe we should discuss keeping our identities a secret,” he said to Tommy. “It’s fine. In fact, Sunset, get the others and meet us at the base,” Tommy told Sunset. “Um, sure thing, Mr. Oliver.” With that, Sunset ran off. Tommy turned back to the four. “So, mind giving me an explanation?” “Sure, as long as you give one too,” said Connor. “Connor, calm down. I’m sure this will all make sense...eventually,” said Trent. “It will, I promise. But seriously, why didn’t you guys tell me you went to another dimension?” Tommy asked. “Would you have believed us?” Trent deadpanned. “I might’ve.” “Really? Hey, Dr. O, we just defeated an enemy war thought was destroyed three times in another dimension full of ponies,” Connor stated. “Okay, so I might not have,” Tommy admitted. “And why didn’t you tell us that you went to the exact same dimension?” Connor asked. “I had some investigating to do,” Tommy explained. “But why did you just come back from there?” “We’ll explain later,” said Casey. Later “Why did Mr. Oliver want us to meet here again?” asked Applejack. “It’s kind of a long story that still doesn’t make a whole lot of sense,” Sunset responded. “So let me get this straight. Four humans just came through the portal, and Mr. Oliver knew them?” Rarity asked. “As far as I know,” Sunset admitted. Just then, Tommy and the four humans that came through the portal entered the base. “Girls, I have a bit of explaining to do,” said Tommy. “First, these are all rangers just like you, so there’s no reason to freak out about them coming through the portal.” Tommy turned toward the four humans. “Why don’t you four introduce yourselves.” “Alright,” said Casey. “I’m Casey, the red Jungle Ranger. It’s nice to meet all of you.” Trent stood up. “I’m Trent, the White Dino Ranger. I used to work with Dr. O. Like Casey said, it’s nice to meet all of you.” Jared got up next. “I’m Jared. I work with Casey here.” Connor looked around the room and saw what looked to be familiar faces. There was a amber-skinned girl with red and yellow hair, a farm girl with blonde hair and a cowboy hat, a white-skinned girl with dark purple hair, a girl with pink skin and pink hair, a girl with yellow skin and pink hair, a girl with lavender skin and glasses, and another girl that almost made him trip: a girl with cyan skin and rainbow colored hair. “I’m, uh, Connor. Red Dino Ranger,” Connor said quickly. “Now, as you girls know, I used to teach at Reefside High before I taught here at CHS. While there, I met three teens, two of which aren’t here. The three of them became the Power Rangers Dino Thunder, and Connor here was the red ranger, and Trent came on later as the white ranger. Anyhow, apparently, the four of the made a trip to Equestria by accident and didn’t tell me when they got back,” Tommy said, emphasizing the last point. “That’s right. You told us that two teams of rangers have been to Equestria to stop a few of their old enemies,” Twilight said, standing up. “Now,” Tommy said, turning to the four guys, “after I got back from Equestria, I did a little investigating around here, and I met these seven girls. They all have some form of magic from Equestria inside them that a few other villains wanted. So with no other way to defend themselves, I offered to make them Power Rangers. That being said, I’d like to introduce you to the Power Rangers Harmony League. Why don’t you girls introduce yourselves?” “Sure thing. I’m Applejack, the Green Harmony Rangers,” Applejack said, reaching out her hand. Trent shook it and gave a nervous smile. “Nice to meet you,” he said slowly. “I’m Rarity, the White Harmony Ranger,” said Rarity. “I’m Pinkie Pie, the Pink Harmony Ranger.” “I’m Twilight Sparkle, the Magi Ranger.” “Sunset Shimmer, Red Harmony Ranger.” “Name’s Rainbow Dash, the Blue Harmony Ranger.” As soon as Rainbow Dash said her name, Connor felt like he was gonna faint. Trent took notice and held Connor up by the shoulder. “It’s uh...nice to meet you all, but almost all those names sound a bit familiar,” said Casey in a nervous. “Let me guess, you met six ponies of the same names in Equestria,” assumed Sunset. The four exchanged glances and slowly nodded. “That’s because almost every being on Equestria has a human counterpart here on Earth for some reason. Don’t ask me to explain, I still don’t really get it.” “So, for every pony in Equestria, there’s a human counterpart on Earth,” Trent said to clarify. “Exactly.” “Now, why did you four just now come from Equestria?” asked Tommy. “That’s actually a whole other story that I’ll try to explain as best I can,” said Casey. A bit later “So you two were really turned against your friends?” asked Applejack. “For the millionth time, yes,” answered Casey. “How did Snapper and Scorch even know where you’d be?” asked Rainbow. “Patience.” “Well, that is a bit confusing, but I guess it explains why you were back in Equestria,” said Tommy. “Yeah, well we’d better get going now. It was nice meeting you all,” said Trent. “Where’re you guys going? Why don’t you stick around?” offered Rainbow. “I, uh...I just really gotta get home,” said Connor. He was all too eager to leave and test the device Trent made him, which thankfully, no one had noticed. “And we gotta get back to the Pai Zhua Academy. You guys are welcome there anytime,” Casey added. “Well, I’ve got nowhere to be, so I guess I’ll stick around for a while,” said Trent. As Connor, Casey, and Jared began to leave the base, the alarm sounded, signaling there was an attack going on. Tommy rushed to put the attack on screen. What showed was something that made Trent and Connor gasp. There was a black, two-legged being with a blue dot on the side of his face. “That’s literally impossible! We threw him into a black hole!” said Trent. “Who is that?” asked Twilight. “That’s Zeltrax, the first villain from Earth to enter Equestria. That’s who we went there to stop,” explained Trent. “What do you mean you threw him into a black hole?” asked Twilight. “Exactly what it sounds like. He opened a black hole, and we threw him into it with our Dino Gems,” said Connor. “Wait, if you used your Dino Gems to throw Zeltrax into a black hole, wouldn’t that mean...he has your Dino Gems?” Casey said. Sure enough, there were four gems lodged in the front of Zeltrax’s armor. “Dr. Oliver, I know you’re out there!” Zeltrax shouted. “If you do not give me your black Dino Gem in one hour, I will unleash my fury upon the innocent!” Trent looked around at everyone else. “Okay, we all know that he’ll just use the Dino Gems to attack people anyway right?” Everyone exchanged quick glances before nodding. “I can almost guarantee he doesn’t know we’re here,” said Casey. “He didn’t say to come alone,” said Sunset. “How you guys wanna do this? Ambush? All at once?” Connor suggested. “Let’s go with ambush. He’ll probably just be able to adapt if we all attack at once,” said Trent. “Mind if we help too?” asked Jared. “Zeltrax is really strong. We could use all the help we can get,” said Trent. “Looks like I’m the bait then,” said Tommy. He got up to leave before suddenly losing his balance. Trent and Connor quickly ran to him and sat him back down. “Are you alright?” asked Trent. “I’m fine, just a little woozy is all. I’ll be fine,” Tommy assured him. “I’m not sure. Maybe you should sit this be out,” said Casey. “No way, I’m the one Zeltrax wants.” “They’re right. If you go out there and fight now, Zeltrax’ll probably get your Dino Gem easier,” said Twilight. “Are you guys suer about this?” Tommy asked the girls. The girls exchanged glances and slowly, hesitantly nodded. “Alright then, I’ll sit this one out. But at least morph now before you go out to face Zeltrax,” Tommy said. “Okay, we’ll go first,” said Jared. Jared and Casey stepped up as Casey pulled out a pair of red sunglasses. He put them on and pressed a small button on the side. “Jungle Beast! Spirit Unleashed!” Casey and Jared became the two rangers they were known for; Casey’s suit was red with black striped patterns, and Jared’s armor was black with golden edges. “You girls go next,” said Trent. “Will do,” said Sunset as she and her friends stepped up. “It’s Morphin’ Time!” The seven girls all morphed into their respective suits and made room for Trent and Connor. “Dino Thunder! Power Up!” “White Ranger! Dino Power!” Trent’s suit was white with black triangle patterns and a red visor, while Connor’s suit was red with white triangle patterns. “Everyone ready?” asked Sunset, getting nods from everyone in the room. Unfortunately, it was at this time that Connor’s suit began to flare brightly until there was a loud boom. After the fact, Connor and Trent were both on the ground, demorphed. “You gotta be kidding me! Why didn’t that happen before?!” said Connor. “What exactly were you using as a power source?” asked Tommy. “I was using an electronic replica of my old morpher, and Connor was using a gem he found in Equestria,” explained Trent. “I think the gem from Equestria was just too unstable to be powered up here,” Sunset said. “I guess that makes sense. And great, my morpher’s busted too,” said Trent. Sure enough, the white device on his wrist was broken and sparking. “I guess that mean you guys’ll be on the sidelines with me. Don’t worry, it’s not that bad,” said Tommy. “Alright. Good luck, you guys,” said Trent hesitantly. With that, the nine morphed rangers exited the base. “You know, Dr. O, we could probably try to contact Ethan and Kira,” suggested Connor. Tommy stood up from where he was sitting and started fiddling through a few files on the desk. “That’s a good idea. I’m sure I have their contact info somewhere.” Tommy heard the sound of running footsteps. He looked back to see that Connor and Trent were gone. “I was hoping they’d surprise me.” Meanwhile “You must be Zeltrax,” said Casey as he and his friends approached the warrior in black armor. “Who are you? I wanted Dr. Oliver,” Zeltrax yelled. “You’re just gonna have to settle for us,” said Sunset. “Fine. Once I’m finished with you, Dr. Oliver’s gonna be sorry. Tyrannodrones, attack!” The green creatures charged at the rangers, and they met in the middle. Sunset and Casey leapt over the Tyrannodrones and fought with Zeltrax. Zeltrax swunghis sword at Sunset, who blocked it and held it in the air with her own for Casey to land a kick. Sunset slashed at Zeltrax with her sword, but he swept her off her feet and nearly landed another shot while she was on the ground. Luckily, Casey blocked it with one of his own sabers. Jared punched down one Tyrannodrone before getting hit in the back by another. He was used to fighting Rinshi, who were slower and clumsier. A pair of daggers flew past Jared to bring down an oncoming Tyrannodrone. Jared looked to see the source of the daggers was Rarity, the White Ranger. “Thanks. I’m not used to fighting these things,” Jared admitted before sweeping down another Tyrannodrone that tried to attack from the back. Casey used both his sabers to push back Zeltrax, only to trip over him. He tried to get back up, but Zeltrax fired a laser at him. “What kind of warrior attacks their opponent when they’re down?” Sunset asked, trying to strike Zeltrax down with her sword. Zeltrax caught Sunset’s sword in his hand and pushed it aside as he kicked her down and fired a laser at her as well. “The kind of warrior that wins.” Fluttershy blocked an attack with her shield, but she was kicked from behind. She dropped her weapon and hit the ground. Pinkie tried to force her way over to help her, but a couple Tyrannodrones held her staff in the air, causing her to trip and hit the ground as well. Applejack slashed her way through one enemy, only to be bound by the arms of another one. She managed to break free, but more and more piled up on top of her until she went down. Rarity used her agility to slip past a few attacks, but she lost her balance and took a shot to the back, joining her friend son the ground. Rainbow Dash used her speed to dash past attack after attack, blasting as many enemies as she could. Eventually, she got cornered and had nowhere to run. She was quickly taken down. Twilight used her wand to lift a few Tyrrandrones into the air while she took down a few more, but she couldn’t keep up with the Tyrannodrones. She was forced onto her knees. Jared did his best to stay on his feet, but he too was overwhelmed. The seven of them were forced into the middle of a circle of enemies. They did their best to prepare to fight, but they knew they wouldn’t last long. A Tyrannodrone charged, seemingly at Rainbow, but it was stopped short by a hand over its shoulder. It was thrown back to reveal Connor. Another Tyrranodrone swung at him, but he ducked under it and punched it in the gut. The other seven rangers broke out of the circle and began to fight. Twilight managed to strike her way over to Connor. “I thought we told you to stay with Mr. Oliver.” “If you knew me better, you’d have known that was never gonna happen,” Connor responded. “Oh, and I brought a few friends.” Twilight looked over to her friends and saw three more people fighting. One was Trent, another was boy with black skin, and the third was a girl with blonde hair. The boy blocked a shot from a Tyrranodrone and delivered his own punch. The girl spun under an attack and swept another Tyrranodrone off its feet. “That would be Ethan and Kira, my other teammates,” said Connor. The boy, Ethan, helped Fluttershy and Rarity to their feet as the girl, Kira held off any approaching Tyrannodrones. The two of them made an excellent duo. Casey and Sunset tried attack Zeltrax from different sides, but Zeltrax jumped as the two accidentally clashed weapons. Zeltrax landed on the two blades, knocking them to the ground, and quickly blasted the two red rangers point blank. “This is too easy,” said Zeltrax. He aimed his sword at Sunset to fire a lightning bolt, but he was hit in the gut by an unseeable figure. The four Dino Gems that were lodged in his armor were removed, and Zeltrax was knocked off his feet. Tommy appeared, morphed and still holding the Dino Gems. “Nice to see you again, Smitty.” “You have no right to call me that. Now give me back the Dino Gems,” Zeltrax retorted. “Yeah, not gonna happen,” Tommy said. With that, he slashed them apart with his Bracheostaff and caught the four gems. “Heads up!” Tommy threw the Dino Gems one by one to their rightful owners. Connor leapt up and caught the red one. Trent pushed a Tyrannodrone out of his way and got the white one. Ethan reached out his hand and caught the blue and yellow one, the latter of which he tossed over to Kira. The four gems glowed and quickly rushed to each of their wrists before their Dino Morphers appeared once again. “Dino Thunder! Power Up!” “White Ranger! Dino Power!” The four of them all morphed into their respective suits. Connor was red, Ethan was blue, Kira was yellow, and Trent was white. Tommy pushed Zeltrax back and joined his team. After fifteen years, the Power Rangers Dino Thunder were completely reunited. The nine other rangers ran up to join them as Zeltrax regrouped his forces. “With the strength of a tiger! Jungle Fury, Red Ranger!” “With the spirit of the mighty lion!” “Tyranno power!” “Tricera power!” “Terra power!” “Brachio power!” “Drago power!” “Element of Kindness! Harmony League, Yellow Ranger!” “Element of Generosity! Harmony League, White Ranger!” “Element of Honesty! Harmony League, Green Ranger!” “Element of Laughter! Harmony League, Pink Ranger!” “Element of Loyalty! Harmony League, Blue Ranger!” “Element of Magic! Harmony League, Magi Ranger!” “Element of Empathy! Harmony League, Red Ranger!” “Destroy them!” Zeltrax shouted as he and his forces charged into battle with the fourteen rangers. The fight was over almost immediately. Casey drew his Jungle Sabers, Jared used brute strength, Connor drew his Tyrannostaff, Ethan used his Tricerashield, Kira used her Pteradaggers, Tommy used his Brachiostaff, Trent used his Drago Blade, and the harmony rangers used their individual weapons to plow right through all of the Tyrannodrones, leaving Zeltrax on his own. He wasn’t going quietly, however, as he aimed another laser. It was simply countered by Tommy, who fired a laser of his own. “I say we put ‘em all together!” shouted Connor. “Sounds good to me,” said Casey. “Let’s do it!” agreed Sunset. “Z-Rex Blaster!” “Claw Canon!” “Harmony Canon!” All three canons fired at once, each one hitting Zeltrax and causing him to finally go down and explode. Tommy powered down and walked over to where Zeltrax just was. He picked up one of the remains of the helmet Zeltrax used. “Well, that just happened,” Tommy said. Later “Wow, that’s confusing,” said Ethan. “I know right. But that’s just how it works,” said Tommy. Ethan and Kira had just learned about how the whole counterpart-thing works with Earth and Equestria. “I still have one question. Why did Casey go all that way to see Connor for the first time exactly?” asked Twilight. Casey and Connor both looked away and blushed. There was a moment of awkward silence until Casey motioned for Tommy to lean in a bit closer. Casey whispered something into Tommy’s ear that made Tommy’s eyes grow wide. “Well, it was nice meeting you, but we really gotta get going,” said Casey, standing up. “He’s right. I told Camille we’d be back by now,” added Jared. The two of them shook hands wit everyone and left the base. “We should go too. It was really nice meeting you all, even though w technically already did...? I don’t know,” said Kira. Three of the four Dino Rangers stood up and shook hands with the Harmony Rangers. When Rainbow Dash went to shale Connor’s hand, he instead hugged her. Rainbow was confused and simply patted Connor on the back. “S-Sorry,” Connor said. He then walked swiftly to one of the tables and picked up a device he had put their before. “Huh, they must be then,” Tommy muttered to himself. “Who must be what?” asked Twilight. “I’ll explain in a minute,” Tommy told her. With that, Connor, Ethan, and Kira left the base as well. “I guess I should be going too, then,” said Trent. “Tell your dad I said hey,” Tommy said. “Don’t worry, I will.” With that, Trent left as well. Tommy turned to his current students. “Girls, I just learned something new about Connor and Casey. You may want to sit down for this. I’m not sure how you’ll react.” The girls did as instructed, taking seats on ether chairs or the floor. “So, when my former students went to Equestria, they obviously made close friends with your counterparts. However, Connor and Rainbow Dash, the one from Equestria, formed a more...intimate bond.” “A-Are you saying...Connor and the other Rainbow...fell in-?” Sunset began “Yes,” Tommy cut her off. A collection of gasps and chuckles could be heard throughout the room. Rainbow Dash, however, was confused. “I don’t get it. What are you talking about?” “Darling, really? A more intimate bond?” Rarity said. Rainbow simply gave her a confused look. “You really don’t get it?” Twilight asked. Rainbow shook her head. Applejack sighed, “Sugarcube, they fell in love.” “Oh,” Rainbow said before realizing what Applejack said. “What!?” “How does that even work?” Pinkie asked. “Same as between two humans I would guess,” said Rarity. “It doesn’t matter. I for one am happy for Connor. Back when he was my student, he always had...subpar luck with romance,” said Tommy. “Yeah, and what does it matter if he’s a human and she’s a pony? That shouldn’t make any difference,” said Twilight. “Exactly. Take Flash Sentry for example. He and Princess Twilight had a...thing for each other,” Applejack added. Sunset seemed to wince at the mention of Flash and Princess Twilight, but made sure not to show it.
