> Fallen Shards > by thegreatandpowerfull > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > The Two Sisters > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Years after the Tree of Harmony was destroyed, the fighting has ceased, and the six keepers of the Elements have moved on to a different life, something dark stirs within the two sisters. The trust and respect for the other has started to fail over time to a point were only hatred lurks in their hearts. I can do this, I can do this, I can do this. Walking down the long hallways at night always seemed peaceful. As Princess of the Night, I look after the ponies in their sleep. However, ever since the Tree of Harmony and Twilight and her friends had gone, tensions between my sister and I have soared. Even though I am just as important as Celestia, every pony never notices me unless I do something wrong, then they remember Nightmare Moon. Part of her is still inside me, that I know of. Waiting to burst out and be free, the one rightful ruler of Equestria. My sister and her perfection is all any pony ever sees. She has just as much darkness inside her as I do, yet no pony sees that. As I continue to do my duties every night, things still have not changed. My sister is the most adored, I am either ignored or feared, and even though Celestia said that she blames herself for my banishment, she still keeps me in the dark. If only I was the eldest. I would be the top princess, the most adored pony in the land, but I am not. I still remember what happened last time I felt this way. It had been a long evening, Celestia had invited some lords to dinner, and I had to be there to "represent" the respect for them. Near the end of dinner, Celestia started to ramble on about plans we had made for Equstria. Once she had finished, the lords would not stop going on about how brilliant SHE was, but nothing to me. That would not have been as bad if she had not taken credit for it. After dinner, when she had gone to bed, I went to the old throne room. When it was almost Dawn, I got ready. The moon would not yield to the OH so great sun that day, or ever again. As the moon started to cover the sun, Celestia stormed in."What in the land of Equstria are you doing?" Celestia shouted. "I am doing what I should have long ago, the night will last forever!" I shouted. Suddenly, it felt like fire was bursting from my chest. As I screamed, pure darkness surged out of me and began to rap around me. I felt my wings grow, my teeth sharpen, and complete evil rush through my veins. When Celestia had banished me, it had felt like getting chained in a place were no one could here your screams of pain and anger. Once I had turned back into Luna thanks to Twilight and her friends, I had tried my best to recreate what ponies saw me as. But it never changed no matter how hard I tried. They all only saw me as a monster. Even Celestia seemed to view me as a threat. I tried my best to stay positive, but it just got more challenging from then on out. As I continue to think about the years after my banishment, I feel the same darkness welling up inside of me. As cold and as dark as last time. Ever since the Tree was destroyed, I could feel Luna and myself drifting further apart. I could feel anger inside me that should not be there for the Ruler of Equstria. Luna is always so cold, and she seems to be acting strange. I know she has always been envious of me, I see it in her eyes. She is probably just waiting for her chance to try to over throw me! Ha, I would like to see her try. No matter what she does, I will always be the superior sibling, wether she likes it or not, I will always be on top, Always be the Princess of the Sun. I still don't understand what it was about that night that made her turn into Nightmare moon. I guess it was always inside of her, but what made it finally burst out. That night, I had invited some lords to dinner to discuss some plans for the ponies of Equstria, and things were going pretty well. She seemed a bit edgy by the end of the dinner, so I did not want to push her and headed of the bed. When I woke up to my alarm, I knew that something was terribly wrong. As I headed for the throne room, I could hear Luna murmuring. Suddenly, I realized what was happening. Luna was keeping the moon up! She was trying to overthrow me! ME! As I burst in, Luna was declaring that the moon would no longer yield to the Sun. Then, A black smoke like thing burst out off her chest and seemed to have consumed her. Before I knew it, A pony who seemed to have been made of shadows and fear stood before me. She gave me no choice. I had to use the Elements of Harmony against her or else she would overthrow me and take over Equstria. Equstria would not be able to survive through a eternal night. It had to be done. I had to banish her to the moon for the good of the Kingdom. Now, Moons after her return, I see the same darkness and same edginess I saw the first time. I knew I would have to strike first If I were to continue to be the Superior ruler of Equstria. I needed to make sure that she did not try to Take over Equstria or else every pony will suffer. She walks like she is just waiting for an attack, like she expects that I know and is protecting herself from going back to the moon. Oh Dear Luna, Princess of the Night, you must be stopped before you ruin what I have in store. > The Transformation > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- " You did what? What were you thinking?" I cried. "What do you mean? Setting up an alliance with the Griffons was a good idea!" Celestia barked. "Maybe it seemed like so at the time, but Griffons only care about themselves and if an enemy of ours offers them more than what we do, then they will turn on us. Also, you did not consult with me on this matter. I am the Princess of the Night, as well as your sister. We should talk about these kinds of things first before you go off making alliances all willy nilly!" I said. Well, more like shouted. Oh what should I do? Things have gotten even worse between me and Celestia. I know that she is the eldest but she should think things through before she does these kinds of things. If this is about the good of Equstria, then we should sit down together sometime and think it over. Not just immediately go off and do it. As I stormed out of the room and away from my sister, I heard her call out that this would be a good thing. I feel the darkness inside me getting stronger, as if feeding on every single little argument my sister and I make. It is as if the darkness is inside me, beckoning me, calling to me to come and join it again. I knew that Celestia would be going to bed soon, finally, a time when I can work without someone who does not think things ahead complains about what I am doing wrong. As I walk around the outside of the castle, I remember a dream that a pony named Starlight Glimmer once had. In the dream, both me and my sister had turned evil. I had turned back into Nightmare Moon, and Celestia, turned into Daybreaker. Although Daybreaker had never come about before, I knew that she was in their somewhere. Buried deep, or not so deep, in My dear sisters soul. Even the citizens knew who Daybreaker was when Starlight let it slip out. The next evening, after I had woken up but before my shift started, I decided to go into town, and what I saw shocked me. Celestia was standing in the center of a stage, speaking to a very large group of ponies, and she seemed to be talking about things that should not have been shared to the public, but that also was not consulted with me! "Every pony listen to me." Celestia boomed. "I have some very exciting news. Starting tomorrow, I am allowing the Castle to be open to the public, and not just the throne room, but every room. It is only for three days, sadly, but I have decided that it would be fun for you to see were the greatest princess lives. Also, I have decided that an alliance with the Griffins is a right decision. Furthermore, the kingdom of Equstria will no longer have an alliance with the Hippogriffs." Celestia concluded. I could not believe my ears. How could Celestia be so, so idiotic. First, she opens up OUR privet home to the public, then, she declares her alliance with the Hippogriffs to everyone, and finally, she ended the alliance with the Hippogriffs! The Hippogriffs provide us with a strong navy and fresh supplies, how could Celestia do this? And she did it ALL without telling me a single thing! I felt mad, no, I felt furious. More furious at Celestia then I had in a long time. As I flew up and onto the stage, I shouted, "What were you thinking? You did not tell me about any of this." I said angrily. "Why would I need to share anything with you? What could you ever do that is superior to me? You never agree with any off my ideas anyway." Celestia scoffed." We are sisters, and we rule together, as EQUALS! You can not just shut down our alliance with the Hippogriffs just like that." I was getting hysteric now. I could see that Celestia was starting to get mad too. What I did not realize, was that every pony gathered in the front of the stage looked very worried. "Ugh, is that what you are worried about? Ending the alliance with the Hippogriffs. Don't worry about it. I already stopped it so that you would not have to deal with the issue. They were upset, but they will come around." Said Celestia. "You already shut it down! We need them as allies, Celestia, and we need you to stop interfering in our relationships with other kingdoms, or at least let us have a discussion before you do anything rash!" I was almost exploding with rage now."RASH, you are calling my actions RASH? They are anything but rash. I am doing this for the good of Equstria. I thought that that was your goal as well, or is it not anymore. I am the Superior ruler of Equstria Luna, weather you like it or not." Celestia seemed to be getting almost as mad as I was right now. I do not know how much more of this arguing I could take. As the citizens looked out onto the stage and watched their two Rulers quarrel, they noticed that as they got angrier, a feeling of fear and dread seemed to move through the crowd. The Sisters continued to argue however. Each getting more and more angry. They had moved away from the issues of the kingdom's alliances, to more personal issues. The citizens of Equstria had never seen the Princesses get this mad at each other. Sure, everyone has experienced some awkward moments when the Princesses had little arguments in public, but it had never been this bad before. Finally, as the sisters seemed to be at the peek of their argument, a power so evil seemed to burst from the chests. From Luna, a black power came and seemed to surge around her. From Celestia, fire did the same. When the smoke and fire had cleared, a sight on the stage had ponies running to their cottages. For on that stage, stood Nightmare Moon and Daybreaker. > Eclipse > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- When the smoke and fire had cleared, a sight on the stage had ponies running to their cottages. For on that stage, stood Nightmare Moon and Daybreaker. The ponies that did not run to there homes stood in shock. There two princesses, who have ruled over Equstria for thousands of moons had gone, and in their place stood to creatures made of fire and darkness. "Everypony! Get into your cottages now and don't come out!" Oh my, nothing like this has ever happened before. As part of the Royal Guard, I realized that tensions between Princess Celestia and Princess Luna were growing, but I had no idea that it was this bad. "Quick, send a message to the Crystal Empire, alert Princess Cadence and Shining Armor about what is happening. We need help, go NOW!" I ordered to another guard. We would need the help of the Crystal Empire if we were going to fix this. Ha Ha. I am free once again. Luna kept resisting me. She knew I was inside her, waiting to burst free and rule Equstria like I should have, Long, long ago. Poor Luna, if she had accepted my help the first time, we could have ruled together, but no, she wanted to be good, and now she is gone. Ha. I never would have thought that Luna would be able to resist the darkness for so long. I have been building up ever since she turned back into Luna, but only moons later does she finally give into me. The things she said to herself when she thought no one was listening was priceless! "No, I will not give in to the darkness, I will not become the THING that they all fear. I will never become Nightmare Moon ever again. NEVER." Luna had said when she thought she was alone. But silly her. She was never alone. I was always inside her, always buried in the deepest and darkest part of her mind. But I must admit, I did not know that something as powerful as Daybreaker was in Celestia, I must admit that that was a bit of a shock. "Now that I am free at last, the night WILL last forever." I said. "You, you think you are more powerful than me, that you could possibly defeat ME? Ha, You could never block the sun, and you will never win." A voice sneered behind me. It was that Daybreaker. I would like to see her try. I zapped a strand of darkness at her, but she was ready. The magic bounced of a force field and hit a building instead. Bringing it, and whoever was inside down. As I kept firing, and Daybreaker kept blocking, more of the town fell to ruble, and more of the idiotic ponies who trapped themselves inside those houses soon perished. Free! Free at last from that sufferable excuse of a pony. Celestia, always claiming to be the better half of the two rulers. Even Luna had more control over her actions. Luna could fight of Nightmare Moon for a time, but Celestia could never fight of me. I was the one who made her paranoid, I was the one who put all those ridiculous thoughts in her head. I mean, an alliance with the Griffins! Cutting of trade with the Hippogriffs! That is just ridiculous. Not only did it gel free me, but now, They have no alliance with a creature who could help them during this time. Not that it would have mattered. I was much more powerful than Celestia, not to mention Prettier, and far for intelligent. I could easily defeat those ponies. But first, I need to end that annoying Nightmare Moon, Once and for all. As Nightmare Moon kept firing magic, I kept blocking, finally I shot and it hit Nightmare Moon in the ear. I needed to kill her, it would take more than that. Nightmare Moon, getting furious I could tell, shot out a giant ray of darkness and it hit me in the side. It hurt! How dare she. That blast took me off balance, but it could not keep me down for long. I would like to see her even come close to defeating me, the most talented, beautiful, and most powerful pony in Equstria. Ever since I could remember, Cherry Blossom had been my best friend, she had always been there when I needed her, and to no surprise, she was with me when the two sisters transformed. It felt like the sky was falling. Crashing of buildings collapsing and shrieks of pain seemed to fill the air. "We need to get out of here Cherry, we can not stay here."I had cried."Were do you suppose we go Sun Flower? All the roads are filled with pieces of destroyed structures, and I doubt if any of the trains are running right now."Cherry said. I was not use to hearing her call me by my real name, she usually just called me Sunny. I was panicking. Ponies all over have been dying from either collapsing buildings, or miss fired rays from the two previous rulers. Suddenly, A ray of fire came rushing towards me. I quickly ducked, dogging it and avoiding what was probably a painful death. "Whoa, that was close, wasn't Cherry? Cherry?" As I started to turn around I heard Cherry murmur, "I feel, I feel, huh." What I saw made my hooves freeze to the ground and what made seem like everything else was not real. "Oh, no no no, please no Cherry please no." Cherry was lying on the ground gasping for breath. I might have managed to doge the blast but Cherry did not. I couldn't move, I couldn't think. I could only watch my best friend fade of into an eternal rest. "Cherry...Cherry please, you can make it, you can make this." I was frozen in a panic. "Sunny, stay strong, stay... strong for me, I will be... watching you...forev..." She was dead, no, she couldn't be dead, she just couldn't be dead. As I looked up, I saw just in time both former rulers blast at each other, and both hit the other. They seemed to explode. Evil Energy shot out and seemed to spears over Equstria, destroying every thing in site. It was over. The fighting was over. But it was over, without... Cherry. Sunny and I have been friends for ever, but when the skies erupted and the evil rulers fought, I knew that this would probably be the end. Sunny had started panicking and wanted to leave the town, but I knew it would be useless. Suddenly, a blast fired from Daybreaker. To my relief, Sunny dogged, but to my horror, I was to slow. As it hit me, I could see Sunny's horrified face when she saw me. I knew she had to stay strong, I knew she needed to survive, I knew that this was the end of me." Sunny, you must stay strong for me, you must stay strong. Don't worry, I will be watching you, forever." I do not know how much of that she heard, but the pain I felt was overbearing. However, soon after, my eyesight started to blur, I felt oddly at rest, and then, I seemed to slip into an everlasting light.
