A partner
The river was quite soothing to listen to,the one thing in the Everfree forest that didn't make you tense up.Rarity trotted towards it,using her magic to levitate a basket with assorted fruits and sweets.The basket had the name "Steven Magnet" written on the tag in bold letters.The white unicorn had begun to visit Steven Magnet more and more,she had to admit,the sea serpent was pleasant to talk to.She stopped as she listened to the splashing of something in the river.
"Steven?Darling?" Rarity called out,putting a hoof forward.
All of a sudden,out of the river,a giant purple sea serpent appeared.He had orange locks and of course,a beautiful mustache.The sea creature turned around,looking at Rarity,who smiled in return.
"Rarity!!" the flamboyant creature beamed,swimming up closer to his pony friend.
Rarity levitated the basket closer to Steven,gesturing that the basket was indeed for him.Steven took it,using only two of his fingers to gently take it.He inspected the basket,looking at it's various fruits from the farms on land.For sea creatures,land fruit was more of a delicacy than common food.Steven really couldn't wait to eat something other than coral and seaweed.
"Thank you for these wonderful treats,deary!" He said,placing the basket on the land next to him.
Rarity smiled "Oh it's nothing really,Twilight told me all about how your culture views fruit!".
The white unicorn couldn't help but be somewhat fascinated by different cultures,flare and fashion in each one.She even wanted to start a fashion line based on her time in Seaquestria. She admired the fact the Steven felt the same way about pony culture.Then Rarity had a thought.
"Oh!Steven have you heard of the Spring festival?" She questioned.
Steven thought,he head heard of the other celebrations.Yet he never heard of the Spring Festival.
"I can't say I have,what is it?" he pondered aloud.
"Oh it's an absolutely dazzling event!There's fireworks and music,as well as the trees glow with life!Not only that but the event also has a "pair only" view of the fireworks!Me and my friends will be there!"Rarity gushed,putting a hoof to her cheek.
Steven nodded,smiling.This event did sound stunning,the lights,the music,it all sounded entrancing.Plus,it had been awhile since he went to visit the land.But the pair only part,was something he knew he had to attend.Steven had an idea of exactly who to bring.
Rarity chirped "Oh!I'll get you tickets there!I bet with your charms you'll find a friend or someone to bring!Also don't rush,the event is two days away!".
Steven beamed,imaging himself,watching the sky glisten with color.The sounds,the sights,oh it all just seemed so wonderful.Not only did he imagine himself,he imagined his partner with him.It would be the perfect date!
"I'll visit you tomorrow,with two tickets!You just find your date darling!" The unicorn assured.
Steven sang as his tail splashed in the water "Oh don't worry Rarity!I know who to bring!In fact,you'll meet him!"
A shiver of excitement ran through Rarity's spine,he already had a partner!As she glanced at the coursing river,she began to ponder what they were like.She waved a hoof mid thought,best to keep it a surprise!As Rarity did this,Steven picked up an apple,taking a bite out of it.He squealed with joy as he tasted the fruit.His friend smiled at this sign of joy,she nodded as a response.Steven gulped the piece of fruit,smiling.
With another bite,Steven said "Don't worry Rarity,dear,you'll love my partner!"
After Rarity left to trot back home,Steven swam under water,looking around his home.Steven looked for the sign of the other creature that lived here.Snoring echoed throughout the home,bingo.He swam closer and closer to the source of the sound,seeing a snoring ball of scales.
"Jessie~" Steven cooed,trying to wake the creature up.
The snoring continued,Jessie rolled to his side with a thud.Steven sighed,nudging him.Jessie's snoring stopped,but only for a moment.
"Jessie." Steven said,this time with a more stern attitude.
Jessie kept sleeping,his body raising and falling.Steven had an idea,it always worked.He placed his hand on Jessie's back scale,rubbing it.A soft purr came from the sea monster as he opened his eyes slowly.
"Morning Jessie.." Steven grinned.
Jessie gave a yawn,stretching his fore flippers.
"Mornin' Steven." Jessie groggily said,getting up.
Steven gave Jessie a quick peck on the cheek.The Scottish sea monster gave a smile,looking to Steven.With a swim around Jessie,Steven helped his lover spring to life.Not just his lover,his husband.As Jessie looked around,he was still in his patch of river.The coral was still colorful,the ground was still wet but soft.Jessie felt the ground for a moment before swimming next to Steven.
"Why did ye wake me up early?somethin wrong?" Jessie questioned.
Steven rubbed the back of his neck "Well you see,I was meeting with my friend,Rarity and she offered tickets to a festival in Ponyvillie!Butttt i need a partner!"
Jessie's ear shifted "And ya want me to go wit ya?" he hinted.
Steven nodded,nervously.He knew that Jessie had an annoyance with ponies.He glanced at everything about his husband,his body,his scales,even his eyes.He swum through the water,it almost blended in with his scales.To most he was scary and maybe even ugly,but to Steven,he was quite handsome.The water rushed through Steven's hair,felt nice.There was a string of silence,besides the sound of water.
Then,Jessie spoke,cutting through the silence "Say,whit's this fancy event?".
Steven bubbled "Oh!From what Rarity said,it's called the Spring Festival!Lights!Music!Fireworks!"
Then Steven paused,wondering if Jessie's ever seen fireworks.Knowing how introverted Jessie was,it wouldn't be a surprise.Steven smiled,turning his head up,looking at the surface of the water.It'd be nice to leave the river,just for a day or two.Jessie turned his head up as well,following Steven's movement.
"I missed Cranky's weddin,I owe you tis.." Jessie smiled,his eyes moving to Steven.
Words weren't needed to know that Steven felt happy at this reply,the smile said it all.Jessie smiled back,he kept looking at the surface of the water as it moved and shifted.The sight of the trees being distorted against the water's texture,a blue tint to the outside world.Then,suddenly,Steven swam up to the surface,like a bullet.Jessie sometimes forgot how fast Steven could be sometimes.Jessie followed,not as fast but eager to see the world's true colors once more.The two sea creatures swam on the cool river,now the wind blowing through their scales.Steven shook his head,drying his locks,returning them to their bouncy form.
"Oh!You're gonna meet Rarity tomorrow!" Steven chatted,clasping his hands together.
Jessie said "Ah..Never really seen the mare before..".
Jessie,admittedly,felt a bit nervous.From what he heard,Rarity was high class,much like Steven.He looked at his reflection in the river,pondering.He looked at Steven as he began to delve into discussion about fabrics and pony culture.He reflected on the fact Steven chose him.Most cultured creatures wouldn't even dream about marrying him,however,Steven magnet wasn't like other cultured creatures.Steven did marry him.He was thrown out of his thoughts as a salmon decided to slam itself in his face.
"GAH!" Jessie shouted.
This caused a light chuckle from Steven,even causing him to snort.Jessie shook his muzzle,the fish flung off,with a small splash it landed in the water.The two sea monsters shared a chuckle as they swam down the river.
Rarity trotted along side Twilight as they ventured into the Everfree.Blue magic coated two tickets,of course they were both laminated.Twilight turned to Rarity as she trotted.The alicorn had to admit,she was happy to finally meet Steven.This encounter might help her understand more about sea life.They trotted up to the river,the water seemed empty and lifeless for a moment.Then,once more,Steven came out of the sea.
"Oh!Rarity!You brought a friend!" Steven beamed.
Twilight awkwardly waved a hoof,replying "Hiiii..".
Steven could hardly contain himself and it showed.His tail was sloshing in the water and his hands where shaking in joy.
"Oh!Oh!Wait right here!" Steven said,plunging back into the water.
Steven resurfaced a moment later.Twilight was a bit confused as to why he did that,but her question was answered seconds later.Another sea creature sprang out of the water,Jessie.Steven motioned to him,grinning.Rarity gasped,a light bulb went off.
"Girls,Meet my HUSBAND!" he cheered,pulling Jessie in closer.
"So THIS is Jessie.." Rarity smiled,rubbing her chin with a hoof.
Jessie looked at the two ponies,smiling and adjusting his plaid scarf.Steven nodded at Jessie,holding his flipper.Twilight's eyes had stars in them,now aware of the species that Jessie was,a noch.With out thinking,she took out a quill and notebook.The princess approached the two creatures.
Twilight said "y-you're a noch.."
Jessie,after hearing this,cringed.He awaited a storm of flashing cameras but was met with nothing.Twilight was just taking notes,a welcomed change of pace for him.She smiled at him and looked at Rarity.Then the white unicorn's blue aura grabbed the tickets and brought them to Steven's hands.
Twilight gasped "Rarity,do these two know what path to take to the festival?".
"Oh I believed we take the bridge stream up to Ponyvillie!" Steven acknowledged,pointing at the river.
"We'll be by the hill near the entrance of Ponyvillie,it has a dirt path leading to it!We can help you find your way there if you'd like!" Twilight clarified.
Steven looked at Jessie,who looked back,nodding.Steven smiled,this was going to be good for Jessie.
The day finally came and Steven was getting prepared for the show,he took extra care of his mane and of course his mustache.Jessie washed his scales,making sure they'd have an extra sparkle to them.Speaking of sparkle,Twilight and Rarity were waiting for them by the river.Twilight had a nice and simple dress on with star earrings.Rarity had a aqua dress with jewels on the laces of it,her hair was in a perfect bun.Steven gasped when he saw them,adjusting the tie he put on.
"RARITY!!!you look dashing!" he clasped his hands together,gasping.
"Oh why thank you deary,I worked all week on this dress!just for this event!" She chirped.
As the two talked Twilight smiled at Jessie "You look nice,Jessie.".
Jessie gave her a simple nod,awaiting for them to show them the way to the hill.
A few minutes of gawking at fashion later,the four were on the trail,watching the night sky and hearing the crickets sing.Jessie felt a chill run down his spine as he left the Everfree,ponies could see him.Twilight saw how nervous he was and gave a sympathetic sigh.Twilight also knew what it was like,being crowded by ponies.She looked at her wings as she thought.The both of them were snapped out of thought when Rarity gasped and saw a pink mare,as well as a blue one.
"Pinkie!Rainbow!" Rarity waved her hoof,smiling.
The two mares ran over,well the pink one bounced,to the river.The pink mares eyes were filled with the energy of 1000 suns.Jessie was actually kinda scared of her.The pink mare pounced over to Rarity and Twilight as the blue mare flew.
"Oh hiya Rarity!Heard you were bringing friends!!" The pink mare chattered.
"Pinkie pie!Meet Jessie!" Twilight motioned to Jessie.
Pinkie bounced up and down "OOOOO!He looks really cool!!" she smiles.
The blue mare replied "Long time no see Steven!"
Steven magnet glanced at her,remembering her from that night his mustache was cut off.He remembered the two as Rainbow dash and Pinkie pie.He smiled,seeing the two mares.The six then traveled to the hill,there was a small pond next to the hill,luckily.
The six ponies that accompanied the two were actually quite nice.Jessie didn't expect ponies to actually be as nice to him.Steven smiled at him,seeing how he got along with all six of them.Apple jack offered him cider and some pies.It was actually the first time he ate equestrian food.
"you know I can understand why ya like land food so much now" Jessie said,chewing on a pie.
"I told you these ponies are nice.." Steven chuckled.
"Yeah,suppose you did,guess i'm just stubborn.." He replied.
Steven pecked him on the cheek,smiling.He held his flipper and nuzzled against him.He saw the ponies look at the sky,gazing as the fire works went off,blasting waves of colors.Pinkie pie bounced up and down,pointing at them.Jessie's eyes widened,never seeing something like this before.
"Steven...thank you.." Jessie smirked,leaning against Steven.
Steven smiled,this night was one that would stay with him forever.Him,His husband and the fireworks.
