> The codex's unfinshed > by Naja nivea > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Fluttershy and her dragon caretaker > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well, this is rather fun...who am I kidding. I’ve been walking for days on end ever since I left the cave. Like could the world cut me some slack for once since this quietness is really starting to become deafening while my voice is becoming lackluster in keeping me entertained. Is it asking a lot to just have another to converse with other than myself! Ow...Thanks for that hand I was close to hyperventilating there for a second. What? I guess you're right about that. Still I need someone new to chit-chat with instead of you guys because like we have been talking to each other for like the whole trip so far and I think we reached the point that there is nothing else to bring to the table. So a new voice would breath some new life in with different views. Wait...do you hear that? Sounds like a girl...though where is it coming from? Oh, I think I found the answer to my question. Ouch, is she alright? I can’t say for sure, but the speed she fell from the air would possibly leave any creature splattered like a pancake. Sure not going to find out just standing here that’s for sure. I think she might have landed somewhere around here, but where. Actually I might not have to look for a splattered corpse after all since I can clearly hear anothers voice on the other side of this hill, so lets hope this person is cool headed with meeting a six foot dragon or I might be walking into a raggedy tag group of mobsters soon enough. Hello...Are you alright? Because from the viewpoint I captured you descending from looked a little worrisome for anyone during that situation. So I came running over to see if you were still kicking. Woah...That's not something you see quite often. Focusing back on who I came to check on I found a scrawny butterscotch pegasus smack dab in the middle of a trio of small critters surrounding her like she was ‘Snow White.’ So in my disbelief all that came out of my mouth was a unintelligent ‘Uh…’ Soon as the word left my mouth the first thing to happen was for all the critters to scramble about for places to hide while the pegasus coward into a whimpering ball. Well crude this is not how I wanted things to turn out, but on the upside no angry med-evil mob trying to kill me; though a small filly scared for her life because of my present still reached a pretty mob level crysis...Yeah, sure wasn’t a fan of the whole scare a kid kinda sort. Making my way over to the cowering filly I slowly plopped myself down in front of her then reached my claw out to gently pat her mane. “Uh, sorry about the whole scaring you thing....I should have possibly gave you a heads up before showing myself.” Lightly scratching my scales I took a glance to see her still in the same futile position. “Sigh, you know if your not completely cool with me being here then I could leave if you want...well alright then I’ll be sure to show myself off .” Great! First sentient creature I encounter and they are scared just by my appearance alone though can I blame her. Seeing a dragon after all is no small thing since what dragons are known for so why am I surprised? Still she at least didn’t voice her concern of “please don’t eat me,” so that’s a plus. Off once more to bigger and not so better- Is someone pulling my tail? Looking back I could see the once frightful pegasus from before was know tugging my tail seeming to try her hardest to accomplish something. I stopped then lifted my tail toward me while she still clung to my tail until she opened them to be met with a close encounter. She squeaked in fright losing her hold and was about to greet the ground until I nipped her behind the neck like a mother does for their cub. She dangled for a moment before I settled her down on the ground then made a motion for an explanation. “Well, Um...mister dragon...I seen you were sad. So I thought maybe I could...If you don’t mind that is....I could possibly cheer you up?” Fluttershy spoke while quickly hiding behind her mane. “Wait, what? You were scared for your well being just a moment ago, but because I was sad you decided to get the courage to come up to me?” She nodded her head toward me. “Well, I guess that’s somewhat reasonable I suppose. Anyway...I could use the company so I’ll take you up on your offer. Um....” She said her name to me above a whisper. “Well nice to meet ‘Fluttershy’ and as me you can just call me ‘Whisk.” > The warm welcoming surprise > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The gleam of light peaked through the curtains. ‘Swift’ slept peacefully in his cubicle aboard one of the caboose’s having a pleasant slumber until the annoying rays of light poured in invading the pitch dark space then soon after following suit in piercing his sockets. He could have sworn that ‘Princess Celestia’ purcifull forces anypony who dear sleep in to get an eyeful of her sunlight no matter how much you toss and turn to avoid the rays. In the end it proved fruitless for ‘Swift’ to hide. Since the light would always find another way to annoy him, so instead ‘Swift’ forcefully removed himself from the warm welcoming bed to face the start of another day while grumbling his annoyance. Splashing cold water over his face he started to head off toward the dining cart to get some much needed grub for his grumbling stomach and some much needed cup of caffeine or several in that matter to wake his plot up for the tried some day. ‘Swift’ sat in the far corner of the dining cart enjoying his seventh cup of joe while staring out the window looking as the scenery passing by getting closer toward his destination. Dropping some bits on the table ‘Swift’ headed back toward his caboose to collect his belongings then made his way to the front of the locomotive to prepare for departure at a village called ‘Ponyville’ to meet up with an old annoyance who happened to be a friend of his though he would never dare say it out loud toward them. Letting out a sigh ‘Swift’ trotted out onto the station platform with his luggage in toe before stopping to take in the scenery of the middle sized village along with the locals going about the morning. Adjusting his hoof bracelet he made his way forward to find the stable he reserved for the month > False Prince > --------------------------------------------------------------------------     The evening rainstorm was pouring all around ‘Dalry.’ Madame Roseluck rested comfortably on the recliner while reading a romantic novel she had purchased last weekend, while in the background the crackle from the fireplace tamely trickled along with the pitter-patter from the rain impacting the window creating a soothing atmosphere. Roselucks evening passed on without any interruptions until she heard a knock echo throughout the estate. She lit a small candle an proceeded to the front door to address a unknown visitor. When she finally reached the door the knocks soon ceased. Opening the door she was greeted with nothing more then the town scenery. She looked right and left to see if there was anypony before ready to head back inside until she heard a noise from down below. Looking down she was greeted with a cradle which was making light snores from within. When she shined the light inside she was greeted with a little baby colt softly snoring. She awed at the scene then seen a sheet of paper near the colt. Dear Orphanage Caretaker, This little bundle of joy is named ‘Astral Arrow.’ I leave him in your care since as a mother I have failed to provide for my baby, but under dire situations that have a raised I no longer have the income nor means to provide for him and I dare say this is probably my last time upon this world. So as a mother I hope you can do what I couldn’t and give my colt an actual life instead of what little I couldn’t provide for him. Please take good care of him... Roseluck lowered the paper then used her magic to lift ‘Astral’ out of the cradle and looked over the colt. From her observation she made out the colt was thin to the point his ribs were poking out along with him having small disheaved wings with feathers poking out in every direction. She nuzzled ‘Astral’ > lost soul > --------------------------------------------------------------------------   ‘It was a freezing cold plane I found myself thrown into with little if any clothing at all to keep me from becoming a statue. I was shivering madly while my mind kept repeating to found warmth. I’ve walked onward in the frozen plane for what I would believe to have been several miles until my body locked up.’ ‘I stood their while trying everything I could to possibly try and move. In the end they met the same result seconds later. Soon after my eyelids started to become heavier every minute no matter how much I struggled to keep them from shutting I was no match for the inevitable.’ Upon shutting my eyes the roaring blizzard slowly vanished leaving behind the eerie quietness while the scenery around me turned into a black abyss stretching for what I could only believe was miles. I sat there without a clue on how to take hold of the situation though I knew it was pretty pointless since my physical body was already being killed off by the cold as I speak. There was hardly anything for me to do in this situation but hope for another to save me from a frozen demise. Letting out a sigh it was highly unlikely that anyone was going to encounter my form until then so I ended up accepting my end then decided to do something else until my doom. Lifting what was suppose to be my arm was now replaced with a stump or more precise a ashened hoof spouting a hole along with the rest I walked upon. Bringing my hoof to my face I started to slowly guide over my head to envision what was now a entirely different face. Letting out a breath I then chuckle toward my predicament. Why? Just why did you have to tempt fate with that shady character? Even though your friends told you not to! You fucking idiot ‘Dewayne’ Now here you are dying in a frozen wasteland with a body not of your own. Going to die all alone...With no one to remember you...Forever gone. > The advisor > --------------------------------------------------------------------------     Another bloody tartarus evening to greet me once again...I’m really starting to tire of this rather tiresome endeavor. It’s been only twelve years since I took up this position and I still remember it to be my rather stressful yet most exciting day of my life; but nowadays after each passing day this job I held so highly now feels more than a chore. Always wake before the sun sets, get prepped/dress, and make sure everything is prepared ahead of time. I know she appreciates my work and rather have no other to serve by her side...though at times I feel empty like a mere body winded as a mere toy to fulfill their duty. If you asked ‘If I liked my job?’ I would automatically answer ‘Yes, of course.’ Though deep down I will hold back my actual response since it would cause more trouble than good. Instead I’d rather have none of the hassle or word spread about on my thoughts. I actually believe she already knows of my feelings on the matter and instead chooses to leave it be until I decide to come forward. We’ve gotten to know each other pretty closely over the years, afterall. Tightening my bow tie to finish off my outfit I then took a look over my uniform. Being satisfied with my work I added the pin and ruffled my mane finishing the final touches. Trotting out of my suite I nodded to the guards then continued forward down the halls waving and nodding to the castle employees heading off for the day. Finally after the short journey along with a few chit-chat here and there I’ve finally reached my office. Upon opening the door the very first thing to assault me was the smell of musky papers filed high over my desk along with ink filling the room. Many have commented on my work space saying I should really tidy up or be more professional about the place, but I brushed all that beneath the rug since I once upon a time have tried to tidy the place only for it to last about a week before it was back to its original state since request, appointments, and other comical things that came through. If anything I rather call this more like organized chaos. Taking a sit then pulling myself toward the desk I began to file through the massive amount of teties paperwork making sure to read through everyone before sorting the important ones from the trash. Being in this position over the years I would have believed that the request from the nobles to actual request some things more sensible, but at last it was mere stupid things asking for things from the crown or to fulfill their ego more. Sighing I quickly snuck a glance toward the clock to see that it was close to time to head out. Exiting the office I tucked the schedule and paperwork to be signed off underneath my wing before heading toward the kitchen to pick up breakfast. Once reaching my destination to pick up the tray. Call me surprised to be met with nothing waiting for me so instead I snorted at the bs, then quickly stomped my way to the back to see none of the chefs around. I screamed inside my head at the crap. Leading out a breath I calmed myself before tucking the papers and my jacket to the side. Rolling up my sleeves then tying back my hair I quickly started to prepare a meal with somewhat haste since time was slowly ticking away by the second for me to awaken her for the evening. So with that in mind I quickly got to work. Finishing up the final touches I took a step back to see my work before nodding. I bag and tagged the meal then slipped on my jacket along with tucking the papers underneath my wing. Ready I fast trotted forward to hopefully make up some last time. Rounding the corner I swiftly sorted myself to look neat; Trotting in front of her door I once again nodded to the guards before venturing through the door. What greeted my was the usual pitch black interior of her room in disarray, while light snores echoed throughout the room from the one occupant who occupied the room. I quietly trotted toward the other side of the room near the balcony before placing the tray upon my back onto the table then headed to the washroom to prepare her bath and set up the necessary ensemble for the evening. Once having everything ready I pulled back the curtains and voiced my evening greeting > start school? > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bzzt...bzzt...bzzt, The vibrating rumble coming from my pocket started to stir me from slumber. I groggily slipped my hand toward my pocket to pull out my phone to see who was calling to be met with the caller id handler; mom. Swiping right I was quickly met with rapid fire questions spouting off one after the other. I groaned before answering her back; about how I wasn’t exactly at the studio apartment, yet. Since of a minor delay happening so instead of leaving at a earlier time I had to board the bus leaving about eightish over leaving at five. After our little chit-chat of catching up I looked out the window staring at the landscape passing by before not to long I seen a sign ‘Welcome to Canterlot; Home of the Wondercolts.’ I give a questioning expression at the assuming school mascot name then shrugged. I started gathering my stuff readying to depart the bus when it reached the bus port. Walking off I quickly give a tried some nod to the driver before setting off toward the location of where I’ll be staying at for my entirety of high school. Walking for about another hour in a half from the bus depot I slowly started to approach the location while my eyes started to get heavier the closer I got. Barely having enough strength I swing open the door to enter the small building where the inboxes where located and quickly found my box before opening it to be greeted with a letter of which I might guess will be the rules/information and a pair of keys to the studio. Opening the door to the studio I kicked off my shoes throw my bag to the side then did a quick look about the place before hastily dive bombing the bed with plastic wrap letting sleep take hold. Sleeping till noon rolled around I was once again awakened to the sounds of my phone going off for like the millionth time I believe. Swiping the phone I pulled toward my ear to be greeted with my mom’s voice once again. I sometimes question her perky and cheerful attitude along with her unlimited amount energy. At times I wonder if I’m even her child with how different our personality are. Sitting up I scanned about the studio while talking to my mom. After getting a better look about the place I said my goodbyes to her before turning to the boxes that I would need to unbox. Once everything was sorted out about the place I grabbed a sandwich along with a drink from my bag. While eating I scrolled through my phone checking about until I seen the email from school I was attending. Looking over it I seen my schedule for the school year, bus stop information, and the day it started which was next week. Letting it sink in I let out another sigh for the day before heading toward the computer to get in some game time then head out the place for a bite to eat. Chapter two - First day     Man, I can’t believe a week has already passed by and now the school days have began. If I could I’d still be in bed though my mom would chew my ass if she found out I missed school...better to go then be on her receiving end. Locking the door I headed off to the bus stop about a few blocks away. Almost halfway there I was surprised to see another heading in the same direction. Part of me felt like jogging up towards the person, but another side told me just to leave it be since I probably couldn’t even hold a conversion to save my life. Instead I opted to listen to some music along the way and help keep my mind off of the numbing cold biting at my skin, yet the girl in front was wearing a skirt of all things seeming unaffected. I don’t understand girls… Waiting in the troublesome cold for about ten or so minutes until the bus decided to come I could’ve sworn during that time the pink hair girl was stealing glances every now and then though every time I turned to look back she was staring ahead...might have been all inside my head. So ignoring that I shrugged and walked on the bus finding a seat. > unknown place > --------------------------------------------------------------------------     Ow...why is my head killing me so much? I can’t even seem to remember what caused the pain in the first place. I slowly started to lift myself upon my feet while slowly taking it steady since I still felt rather weak. When I finally got on to my feet I took my time to open my eyes to see just where the hell I ended up and to my surprise I was met with a shallow damp cell. Slowly stumbling my way toward the bars I could make out a couple more cells like the one I occupied, but still it didn’t answer my question on how the hell I got in here!? Looking both ways down the narrow hall I seen no other soul around, so I was the only one within this room. Grabbing onto my head I made my way over to the far corner of the cell while lowering myself to take a sit and lean against the wall. Breathing in and out I tried to push aside the ever growing migraine that seemed to pierce my skull ever minute before long I passed out from the pain. Waking once more to face reality I was surprised to hear noises flooding what use to be an empty room now be occupied by others though what shocked me was they weren’t even human instead they were mythical beings that we’re suppose to be nothing more but myths. I whispered to myself over and over again telling myself this wasn’t real; this had to be a dream! Nothing of this wasn’t making any sense though the migraine from earlier felt to real to just throw out the window. Everything from the air, smell, and taste was to accurate. Crud, this is neither a dream or an illusion. I was trapped in a room full of creatures only brought up in fairytales, but now here I was staring at the actually creatures in the flesh. Gripping the bars tightly until my knuckles turned white I held my head down before reeling it back I then proceeded to slam my head it to the bars repeatedly until the ones in charge of this shithole jumped in stopping my advances. I was grabbed by a huge brute then slammed against the back of the cell where they beat me for simply trying to end my life because I could probably fetch a good price since they never seen anything like me. I screamed from the top of my lungs while trying to break free from the brutes grip. It ended being a fruitless endeavor leading up to getting a shot toward the gut which knocked me out cold. I awake once more instead this time I was cuffed to the wall with barely an inch of room to dangle my arms. Trying to struggle against the restrainers I was hardly able to force them and it didn’t help that I was exhausted. “Hey! Would you do me a favor and like buck the tartus up creatures are like trying to get some sleep here and your lousy rustling isn’t helping.” A voice spoke in the shadows.
