No, that is not what Trixie said to do! Do it again!" Trixie's words came out as a hurried frantic shout as what had started as an attempt by Twilight to turn a stick into a bouquet of roses, seemed to have gone quite awry. "Sorry Trixie I don't know where it went wrong!" Trixie rolled her eyes as Twilight used her magic to make the massive monster made of rose vines vanish. "What went wrong Twilight Snarkle, is you failed to do as the Great and Powerful Trixieeeeeeeeeeeeee, instructed. You are learning "magic", not magic! Stop using your magic and use your horn to do the "magic" Trixie has instructed of you." Twilight was confused. "Magic" was magic...wasn't it? Perhaps she hadn't cast the right way. "Yes, Trixie." Her horn glowed once more. Trixie face-hoofed as her pupil, Twilight Sparkle, Princess of Friendship and gifted with the talent of magic failed once again to perform the simplest "magic". "Twilight! I said do "magic not use magic! Again, after you get rid of that thing." It had been like this for months, ever since, for reasons she could not guess, Twilight had begged to learn stage "magic" from her. For some reason the Alicorn whose literal element was Magic, gifted with magic and well versed in the ways of magic, was rather slow to learn simple "magic" tricks. Trixie was quite sure the universe was punishing Trixie for being too perfect. That was fine, Trixie thought, Trixie would show the universe she could handle such a task with ease. "Twilight, watch as the Amazing Trixie teaches!" Trixie's horn glowed, and she picked up the stick and with a tiny poof of smoke she was levitating a bouquet of roses. "Trixie used her glorious horn to reach into and pull forth the hidden roses! Now you try!" Twilight's horn glowed and she picked up the stick like she had seen Trixie do, and then there was a puff of smoke. "WHAT IS THAT?!" Trixie was shocked to her amazing core. There before her stood a very angry tree creature, roaring at the two. "uh-don't worry Trixie, I'll get rid of this and then we can try again." Twilight's horn glowed and the tree was blasted to pieces. Turning to face her teacher's insults, Twilight found herself a stunned. Trixie wasn't mad, fuming or yelling at her. Trixie was smiling, a truly never before held sight for the alicorn. Trixie's voice was warm and soft. "Twilight, the great and powerful Trixieeeeee has made a decision. You will stay up all night, you will practice doing "magic" not using magic until Trixie awakens. If you have failed to sucessfully perform the "magic" by then,-" Her voice turned icy and what she said made it clear Twilight must not fail. "Trixie will burn your library down to ashes. Understood?" Trixie watched as Twilight trembled and strangely in a way she could not explain, Trixie felt bad. True Twilight had already promised to accept any and all punishments or teaching methods, but she had been doing her best. Not everypony could be just as perfect as the great and powerful Trixie, Trixie thought to herself. She decided to try something new. "However, if you succeed, Trixie will buy you one brand new never-before-read-by-you book." Twilight's eyes lit up. "So a new book?" Trixie nodded. "For a successful "Magic" trick. By the time Trixie awakens." "Like a fresh newly minted book?" "Yes Twilight, Trixie promises to buy you a new book that has never been read by you before!" Twilight narrowed her eyes in determination. "Yes, A new book! Trixie! I won't let you down!" Trixie hesitated. Something about the entire scene was unsettling. It gave her a sinking feeling. She ignored it. "The great and powerful Trixie, shall leave you to it then. Trixie expects great things from you." Twilight's horn glowed as her eyes furrowed in intense concentration as Trixie climbed inside her wagon to get some rest. Outside the wagon, sparks of light flashed through her blinds and the roar of monsters could be heard. Trixie knows Twilight can fix her mistakes, Trixie thought to herself, Trixie is safe. Closing her eyes Trixie went to bed, Earplugs firmly blocking all noise. The morning rays of golden sun trailed across the face of Trixie as she opened her eyes. She immediately shrieked as standing over her, eyes twitching, Twilight had a stick in her jaws. "What are you doing?!" Twilight ignored her as she spoke in a slurred speech with the branch in her mouth, still. "mrhg nhrg it!" Trixie wanted to laugh at the strange sight, but she instead said."Take the branch out of your mouth and try that again for the great and powerful Trixie." Twilight spat out the branch and her horn glowed, causing a puff of smoke as the branch rose in the air. Trixie's eyes went wide as Twilight presented a bouquet of beautiful roses."I said I did it!" Trixie smiled and laughed. "Very good. Trixie is proud of you..." Muttering, trixie continued. "Though it did take months to learn a simple slight of hoof technique." Her voice raised as she smiled at Twilight. "Alright, Trixie is a mare of her word let's go get you a book." Twilight yelled in excitement. "YAY! A new book!" Trixie laughed and slowly pushed open the door to her wagon and as she saw what awaited her, her mouth dropped open. "T-twilight? Wh-wh-what...WHAT DID YOU DO?!" *** "T-There was this fire! Everywhere! It's so big, even the sky went orange! Everypony tried to run for their lives, screaming! T-That's what happened, Princess Celestia...." The alicorn wordlessly stared at the shivering and twitching Trixie in front of her, having just listened to Trixie's version of why Ponyville lay in ruins, still trying to process what she had told her. "Trixie, you can't honestly expect me to believe tha-" Twilight suddenly popped up between them and still twitching and wide-eyed, levitated a brand-new leather bound book. "Look I got a new book, Princess! A new book! Smell that fresh new leather binding. Mmmmmm newly minted and it's all mine!" Celestia looked at her faithful student and groaned as the screams echoed all around her."Twilight..." Twilight shoved the book in Celestia's face. "A. BRAND. NEW. BOOK."
