> Come back [Kingdom Hearts crossover] > by Yelilia > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Chapter 1 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- “I'll come back to you, i promise. I'll come back again” “I know you will” I know you will. Those four words swirled in his head making it ache. What did they mean? The pain in his temples was so strong he could not tidy up his confused and noisy thoughts. Then a face, like lightning in the dark. A girl. No, not just a girl. Kairi. With his eyes closed, it seemed as if the reflection of his thoughts was real and that she was exactly in front of him. But soon the senses that were turned off until the second before began to manifest again. His fingers were damp, dipped slightly in something wet. The smell of rain flooded his nostrils, the sound of the wind bothered his ears. He should have opened his eyes, yet it seemed so difficult. He did not want to lose the angelic vision of the one who saved, believing that he could finally be able to get home together, instead she had been ripped away from his hands once more. They had only managed to promise that nothing would separate them and that one day they would find each other again. Then the emptiness, and that headache that was not inclined to disappear. He forced his cold arms and pulled himself up slightly. The ground beneath him had scratched his skin, he could feel the slight burning that assured him he was alive. When he opened his eyes his sight was blurred, but he could see a pink spot right in front of him. He lost a heartbeat, maybe he had already returned to her? "Kairi?" He spoke in a rough, scratchy voice, as if he hadn't spoken a word for years. "Kairi? Who is Kairi? Man, you must have beaten hard your head!” Shrill and high-pitched. Anyone who spoke began to appear clearly in front of the boy's eyes. Long and intricate pink curly hair fell on the shoulders of a light-skinned girl, but unusually tending to a too pastel pink, large blue eyes, slender legs covered by long amphibians and a slight dress with bizarre colors on it, careless of the rain and of the wind she had the courage to wear a summer clothing. The boy rubbed his eyes, brushing his clothes from the dirt and dust. He looked around. Where was he? "What is this place?" He asked to the girl in front of him, that was looking at him with sly and curious eyes. Around them a city full of tall and colorful buildings but, at the moment, the gray clouds made them lose their brilliance. The girl opened her mouth in surprise "You seem almost fallen from the sky! Have you lost your memory? And that hair? Do you wear them like this or are they simply messed up? What's your name? Who is Kairi? Am I talking too much? Because if so- " Her questions were abruptly interrupted by the arrival of another person. "Pinkie, are you harassing strangers again? Excuse her, she is only in abstinence of attention " A girl with blond and red hair, pulled the ear of the one who was apparently called Pinkie, giving an apologetic look to the poor boy. Her skin, tending to the yellow of the sun, was covered with black and fuchsia clothes, with boots adorned with studs. "I'm Sunset, are you new? I don't think I've ever seen you here " "My .. my name is Sora and .. precisely 'here' where would it be?" "We are in the city .. Have you lost your way? You look like a foreigner. ” She replied looking at him suspiciously Sora wondered how he ended up in that place. Was it possible that, after saving Kairi, his heart had taken him there? Perhaps those were just the delusions of a broken heart, sucked from the darkness to the deepest part? Was him intact or an illusion? He pinched himself on the cheek, earning a cheerful and amused glance from Pinkie, but skeptical and bored on the other "But do you listen to me when I speak?" The woman with the golden skin continued. "Mh, yes, I'm sorry. I was lost in my thoughts "He tried to laugh, but he was more nervous than he showed, or maybe he was just making himself strange. "Let's say I come from far away," he added, putting a hand under his chin, remembering Donald's recommendations. Keeping balance in the worlds, he didn't know if he could do it that time. "If you need someone to show you the city ... count on us! We were reaching our friends, but you could join us, Sora. Right, Sunset? ”The pink one looked at her friend with a smirk on her lips. The other, however, sighed and with a wave of her hand consented. "While we reach them, though, I think you owe us some explanation. Why are you here?" "Well, I don't know why I'm here, but I know I'm far from the people I care about. I won't stay here much, I hope " "Are you talking about that Kairi?" Pinkie became interested, peering into his face and mentally convinced herself that she had never seen someone like him. Sora nodded "And not only. My friends will be worried about me. In recent times it seems that I have made them suffer often. Above all Riku ”he scratched his nose, smiling slightly. He thought of his friend and wondered if he was still at home, if he was enjoying his well-deserved rest "From your eyes it looks like you miss them" Sunset made this observation, but Sora didn't have time to answer that, prey to the screams of a girl, he fell silent bleaching. "You two are more than late! How many times do we have to tell you to arrive on time? "A blonde with a big hat on her head blurted with anger "Sorry Applejack, but we brought a friend!" Pinkie replied, careless of her friend's angry face. Only then, apparently, the angry girl and her friends behind her noticed Sora who, a little embarrassed, greeted them with his hand, scratching the back of his neck with the other. "Did you bring a boy with us? No, no, no. Return him to where he came from" A girl with rainbow hair and a pout in her face spoke, crossing her arms and coming forward towards Sora "I thought we had decided, after the last time!" she also said "I don't think it's like the other one. This is too stupid" Sunset said, smirking. "Hey! I'm not stupid!" > Chapter 2 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The situation was quite strange, almost embarrassing. Sora, during his long and tortuous journeys, had seen it all but had never been so frightened as by that multicolored-haired girl, her sullen face and her skin tending to a blue sky. She was screaming so loud against her two friends, Pinkie Pie and Sunset Shimmer, that people in the street turned around to figure out what was going on. Sora, to calm tempers all round, said that he would go away and let them do their things but, without warning, a girl walked away from the group at the back and came forward. "Come on, Rainbow. Only this time, not all boys are nasty" her voice was low and her hair was pink, but not pink like Pinkie's. A pink so soft it resembles the color of cotton candy. Her skin was pastel yellow, blue eyes and she wore a scarf around her neck that covered her up to her nose. "He is also lost !!" Pinkie Pie added, nodding her head as if that sentence was as convincing to everyone as it was in her head. "Look, here in the middle of the street we're just giving a show, could we move somewhere else?" Another voice spoke that Sora couldn't identify because, standing right in front of him, there was the small but muscular figure of what he understood she was called Rainbow. With a snort she walked away from Sora, giving him a more complete view of the strange group that was ahead of him. Was it possible that humans could have those strange skin colors? Well, he was accompanied in his adventures by Goofy and Donald, so he shouldn't have asked all those questions to himself. In no time, after a silent walk, they found themselves at the Sugarcube corner. Pinkie, as soon as she crossed the threshold of the shop that was closed to customers at the time, launched herself into a detailed explanation of how much fun it was to work there and live right upstairs, so that whenever she was hungry at night, she could come down to snatch something. Sora got excited for the story of the intense pink-haired girl "Wow! It must be fantastic! " "It is!" She replied with eyes full of joy, for the first time someone indulged her so passionately and sincerely Fake coughing blocked their conversation. "Maybe it's better if we sit down" A girl with lilac skin and dark hair, with two pink and purple colored drops, adjusted her big glasses on her nose better. She had a sweet and studious face, a schoolgirl's skirt that left thin legs in view, a blouse buttoned up above her neck and low-heeled little boots. "And if we introduce ourselves" Added another girl. He had already heard that voice, it was the one he had failed to focus on before, due to Rainbow in front of his perspective. "I'm Rarity, nice to meet you. Sometimes my friends know how to be really rude ” she continued, stretching out a pale hand, her wrist was embellished with a bracelet with small inlaid diamonds. Dark purple hair fell to one side, covering her neckline, enlivened by a low-necked sweater, and tight black trousers. "I'm Sora, the pleasure is all mine" he smiled and shook her hand. All the other girls, some happier to do it and some less, presented themselves shaking his hand. Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Rarity and Sunset Shimmer. Their names were all so unique that Sora was not afraid of forgetting them. Once they were seated around a table large enough to hold everyone, Pinkie placed a steaming cup of tea in front of everyone present. Before the words of the girls around him caught his attention, he spent a few seconds looking at himself in the dark but clear liquid of the cup. His eyes were tired, his hair more matted than usual. He felt exhausted, and it was strange. He had a fairly developed physical stamina, after even the most difficult battles, he had always had to quickly recover his strength to foil his enemies' other obscure plans. Was it that world that hurt him? And how did he get there? Had Kairi managed to get home safely? Perhaps someone had left to look for him? He wanted to visit Yen Sid, or King Mickey. They would have the answer to his doubts. "How long do you plan to stay here?" Applejack asked him, who, unlike before, had taken off her hat and hung it on her chair. She had thick, long blond hair. They reminded him of someone, but he didn't know exactly who. It slipped from his mind. "I really don't know. It's all so complicated. I found myself here by chance "Sora replied, tempted to drink tea to warm himself, but too busy with a thousand thoughts to do anything. "How complicated?" Asked Sunset, who had already finished the drink "I'd say a lot," he chuckled. If he had told them what had happened to him, they would never have believed it. "I ended up here by accident. I'll come back to my friends as soon as possible, but it doesn't look bad here, uh? " "It is beautiful here, dear. But you should definitely change your clothes. Are you a country boy? " Rarity pointed to the clothes that, according to Sora, were very cool. "What would you have against the country people?" Applejack preceded Sora in response, feeling personally into it. She had a look of defiance against her friend. "But nothing, Applejack, only you don't have much style" "Tsk. We have other qualities " "Picking apples?" "Now I'll show you-" Applejack was about to stand up indignantly, her eyes furious, but everyone froze when a big laugh echoed through the pastry shop. Sora's eyes were bright with laughter, and with one hand he hit his leg several times. "What are you laughing at?" Rainbow Dash asked sourly and suspiciously, sitting next to Rarity. "Just because they remind me a friend of mine and me" Sora wiped his tears at the edge of his eyes with his finger, returning to his normal and composed position. The softened girls gave him a small smile, in his eyes they could read how much he was connected to the people he had left behind. Sora, for his part, could not get rid of the numerous "quarrels" made with Donald Duck between the worlds they visited together. "Well, back to the previous speech" Rarity started talking again, not before having given herself a long look at the enamel nails "It's really nice here, did you arrive this morning? Because it's a real shame if you missed the "show" of last night " "Have you seen it all, right? It was something magical. ”Fluttershy spoke with joyful eyes "Of course! It was completely unexpected. My room suddenly turned blue just as I was about to fall asleep .. I looked out of the window and...wow " Sunset explained moving her hands animatedly, to accompany the speech "I had never seen anything like it, I searched on internet all night and, girls, I didn't find anything about it!" Twilight adjusted her glasses again, sliding too far down where they should have been. Sora tried to stop them but apparently they were all too busy with their speeches. "Wait!" He shouted as he got up from the chair "What are you talking about? And what is this 'reternet'? " All, once again, turned to look at him "I had said he was a farmer," Rarity said putting her hand on her pale forehead, she earned a dirty look from the blonde. "Internet, Sora. Well ... it's the place where you can find out about everything. ” Sunset replied, scratching the back of her neck. Sora's eyes shone "Everything? Really? Can I talk to the internet? ” The boy thought of asking him how to get home "You can't talk to the internet ... Mmh it's hard to explain, I'll take you to the library, so you'll see by yourself" "Thank you Twilight!" The hopes in Sora rekindled, so he left his place and went to embrace his new friend. "It's nothing" replied the girl with the lilac skin a bit 'embarrassed by the excessive affection. This caused a general laugh Once he was back in his seat and after drinking his cold tea "Anyway, which amezement did you talk about before?" "A light beam" Applejack "A comet" Rainbow Dash "A rocket!" Pinkie said with too much enthusiasm "Maybe an angel?" Fluttershy "Or just a kind of aurora borealis?" Sunset assumed. "Tell me more" Sora put his elbows on the table and rested his head on his fists. He would have had a good sleep if he could, just like the good old days. "It was already late yesterday when it happened. I was personally rearranging the books before going to sleep. I hate disorder, I could never sleep well at night knowing that I have books scattered all over the house. Unlike somebody ” Twilight coughed on the last words, giving an amused look to Sunset who was looking up with a smirk on her lips, as if it didn't concern her what her friend had just said. "Anyway, I was ready to go to bed when, as Rainbow said, the room lit up blue, a strange blue like that of the galaxy. Then I looked out the window and, before my eyes and before the eyes of all the citizens, a huge luminous trail fell down from the sky. It looked like a comet but, seen with bare eyes, they are not so big and not as bright as yesterday's. ” The girl finished the story, biting her lips worried. "It seemed ready just to fall here in the city. We could have bet on it, but we didn't find any crack or anything. ” Rarity shrugged "I'm sure something has come to us!" Pinkie began. "Only we haven't found it yet ... or maybe it's under our eyes and we don't notice it" "Sure Pinkie. You read too many fairy tales to those two monsters you babysit " Sunset laughing told her "Sunny! Why don't you believe me? I'm sure of it " Sora placed a hand on his chest, lowering his gaze. What if ..? > Chapter 3 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Opening the door, a faint ring of bells echoed against the dark and dusty walls of the library, in the city where he had been catapulted. Huge bookcases and shelves were filled with books of a thousand colors and a thousand sizes. Sora had never been a lover of books, making him think in some way about the school and its epic failures in any subject he tried, but he could not deny that the ancient suggestion that place gave him made him almost want to start reading one. Almost, though. The windows were formed by opaque, colored glass diamonds that filtered the light so that it did not bother the eyes. Behind him, one on the right and one on the left, Twilight and Sunset who had offered to accompany him, leaving their friends to do their chores. First of all, Pinkie at the bakery. Shortly before, the young friends had had to interrupt their chat in front of a steaming cup of tea because, like every day, the Sugarcube Corner opened its doors to the citizens who could not wait to enjoy some well-deserved relaxation while eating some delicacies. This relaxation, however, was not shared by Pinkie, who ran from side to side holding trays full of cups, sweets and hot drinks in her arms. To each client she repeated the same sentence "I recommend the specialty of the day" but, denying revealing what this was, both to the people sitting at the tables and to Sora and his friends, few people dared to order it. Sora wanted to try it. His stomach growled but he didn't even have a munny with him. Apparently, otherworldly journeys did not include the possibility of carrying "baggage". An elderly gentleman poked his head out from the back of the store, his skin gray as if he were sick, a long white curly beard and short hair, of the same color. He was wearing a bizarre blue sweater with little stars embroidered on it. "Hello StarSwirl, how's your back today?" Twilight passed Sora, approaching the man who laughed under his mustache, massaging his back with one hand "It would be better if I was your age" Sunset pretended to be surprised but actually she was amused "Do you still remember when you were our age? Has it not been a century? " The man named StarSwirl laughed again "In less than no time you'll find yourself like me, missy" Sora thought that those two had to know the librarian very well, their connection was palpable. It was enough to see the way they laughed at each other and the way the girls took the books from his hands to put them in his place, to understand how much they were related to that elderly gentleman. "I brought a friend of mine, Sora. He'd like to use the computer " Sora stepped forward, smiling confident to the man who seemed so kind and helpful. "Oh, hi Sora. Of course you can use the computer, come on. "He invited him with one hand to follow him, as he flicked towards an unknown wing of the library. "Thank you very much!" Sora replied, not delaying even a moment to follow him. The girls were going to go with him but StarSwirl asked them if they could clean up the tallest shelves in that place. There didn't seem to be any other people besides the four of them. "Are you a foreigner?" "Kinda" Sora scratched his cheek, keeping himself vague "I see." StarSwirl, on the other hand, gave him a fleeting glance, with his small eyes, and looked him over. "Here you go," he continued, showing him a table on which was placed a rather heavy and bulky computer, the same gray as the man's skin. Sora immediately remembered that he had already seen that kind of contraption but had never tried to use them. If Pence had been there, he would have made it work in no time. The man, seeing him thoughtfully in front of the computer, made for him appear a white screen with a search bar. In Sora, it was so much like magic, instead, as Sunset had told him on the way to the library, it was just 'technology'. "You can do all the research you want now" Having said this, he moved away from Sora, coming out of his sight. The boy took very little to understand that, to start a search, he had to enter it in the bar that flashed before his eyes. "Where is Riku?" He wrote as a first question but, all that opened before him, were announcements about a company that sold fertilizer for lands. Sora laughed at the computer. Fertilizer. Poor Riku. The second time he tried to search for the islands of destiny, but the photos of a public pool were the only thing that appeared on the computer. Finally he tried the word 'Xehanort'. The computer went out instantly, turning Sora's eyes off as they were lit by the monitor light. "You shouldn't be here" StarSwirl's voice frightened him, making him jump up from his chair in seconds. "You told me I could use the computer" Sora replied confused, feeling embarrassed. Had he broken the computer by accident? It was not his intention. "You shouldn't be here" He repeated "Boy, I say this for you" he lowered his voice, approaching Sora cautiously. "This is not a place for who's ali-" "StarSwirl, we're done!" Twilight joined them, pleased to have helped. "Sora, did you find what you were looking for?" "Kinda" Sora replied, still, but he didn't lose eye contact with the old man. What did he want to tell him? "Thanks, what would I do without my favorite clients?" Starswirl turned his back to Sora, turning to the girl with the lilac skin "Now I think I'll go buy something for dinner, and you have to do the same. No more missed dinners. See you tomorrow, honeys" having said that, he dismissed them who, like it or not, had to leave the place and find themselves on the street. Night would fall in a few hours. The girls greeted him. Sunset was busy with dinner, that evening was her turn to cook and, as a good roommate, she would not break the promise. Twilight, on the other hand, would have joined Fluttershy and would have helped her with that dogsitter job. Sora then decided to return to the only place he knew of that city. He did not start immediately, tried several times to return to the library first, but this was now closed. Then he walked around the neighborhood. At every corner that turned the people in the street stared at him. Was it so strange for that place to have a visitor? Only late in the evening he crossed the threshold of Pinkie's pastry shop, now empty and with only a couple of people at the tables. Her pink-haired friend sat on the counter while, with the menu crooked before her eyes, muttered something to herself. "Hey Pinkie, what are you doing?" Sora asked, leaning back against the curly girl's counter. "I look at things from another perspective" She lowered the menu, looking at Sora. "You see? So it's more interesting " "Yeah," the blue-eyed boy answered, not really paying attention to how interesting the upside-down menu could be. "Are you sad because you didn't find what you were looking for? Sora ran a hand through his hair "I do not know. I don't even know where to stay tonight. I'm so lost " "Everything that is lost, sooner or later, is found. So don't get down. And then, above my room there is an attic. You can stay there. I would really like someone to keep me company" Pinkie gave him two pats on the back, smiling at him "Now, to pay me back, you will taste today's specialties" Sora smiled, regained strength in himself. He would come back home, but first he would eat anything Pinkie had brought him. He was so hungry. And then, the next day he would go to StarSwirl.
