> What A ‘Dazzling’ Event > by Taken-By-Insanity > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > A New Day... > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I walk down the sidewalk of my neighborhood in the city of San Francisco. Hi, I go by Ad a lot of the time. Don’t ask why it’s spelled like that. Anyways, I was walking down the street when a random person in a black hoodie ran to me and gave me a ruby, shaped similar to the ones around the Dazzlings’ necks before they were destroyed. “Sorry, gotta go,” I couldn’t tell if it was a man or woman by the voice but he or she ran off after saying that. I shrugged it off and continued walking. I arrived at my, currently empty, home and walked to my bedroom consisting of the bare minimum of a bed with black sheets and a dresser. There is also a mirror in the corner which I walk towards and look into. I look and rearrange my dark blonde hair so it's not covering my scarred face. But then I notice something, my eyes weren't their usual grey-blue. They were a brilliant raspberry instead. I looked over myself again and noticed my hair changed as well, having grown out and turned into a luminous vivid orange with brilliant yellow streaks. I watched with horror and surprise as I saw scars fading from my face, freckles also vanishing soon after the scars were gone. I looked at my hands and watched as they started to become slimmer and more feminine. “What is happening?!” I said quietly to myself as I watched in fear. I felt my hips become wider and some of my height become lost to whatever force is responsible for this, the pain I should be feeling being numbed somehow. I looked at the mirror again and noticed new mounds of flesh upon my chest and my skull enlarging itself into a more circular form, my eyes also enlarging and becoming more expressive. When the changes stopped with long eyelashes growing in I saw a human version of Adagio Dazzle with pale white skin as my reflection instead of myself. Soon after taking note of this I felt extreme pain suddenly erupt throughout my body, making me collapse and have the ruby fall out of my pocket. The last thing I saw was the ruby, now glowing, before blacking out from the pain. ”Are you three alright?” I heard a man ask. I opened my eyes and saw an adult man with dark blue hair and large brown eyes, wearing a trench coat that casts a shadow over the rest of his clothing. “I think so,” I said, hearing three familiar females saying the same thing, my own voice being nowhere to be heard. “Are you sure? You three seem to not be doing so well, what with hugging each other in an alleyway, shivering like it’s the winter,” the man said, motioning to my right, showing it’s the middle of the day. When I looked I saw a teenage girl I’m oh so familiar with. The first detail I saw was her hair being a light arctic blue with moderate persian blue stripes. She then looked at me, her eyes a moderate raspberry and skin an arctic bluish white. It was Sonata Dusk wearing a black hoodie and jeans with black shoes. We both jumped back from each other, a look of fear taking over our faces. I bumped into someone else and looked behind me, seeing another teenage girl I’m familiar with. Her eyes were a moderate mulberry, her hair a moderate purple with light brilliant aquamarine streaks, and her skin a pale, light grayish fuchsia. She too was wearing only black. It was Aria Blaze. She also jumped back, surprise instead taking her face. I looked at my hands and saw they were a pale apple green instead of the pale white I was used to. Sonata, Aria, and I stood up, having all looked at our hands. I looked up and smiled, “Oh we’re fine, I promise.” I noticed a faint glow at the bottom of my vision and the man’s eyes flash red before he nods and leaves. I looked at the other two and Aria beat me to the punch, “Ok, why are you two in existence, why do I not have white skin, and how am I suddenly a girl?!” We both shrugged. “I dunno. But where are we?” Sonata asked. We walked out of the alleyway and saw that we were by Canterlot High, students bustling about and going along their day. “Put your hoods on, we can’t be seen,” I commanded the other two before putting my own hood on, having figured out I also had the same outfit as the other two. We walked away from the school and took a left, ignoring everyone as we just walked until we noticed a restaurant and, I’m not sure about the other two but a delicious smell was coming from it. We walked into the restaurant and notice it’s a bar and there’s a fight breaking out between two drunks, a visible green mist emanating from them. I felt the need to hum as I watched this and hummed I did, the other two following suit. The mist then moved away from the two drunks and went into a necklace around our necks, the source of our power. We kept humming until the sirens of police were heard nearby fifteen minutes later and we walked out of the bar before taking a left. Now that this unnoticed hunger is satisfied I looked around and saw how the town looked in all its glory. People were walking around with friends and being kind. It was honestly beautiful to see compared to back home, there’s so much peace here. After finally looking around we stopped by an apartment building and I turn to the other two. “Now, who were you two before this happened?” I asked the two with suspicion in my voice. “I’m Ad,” the two said before looking at each other with me raising an eyebrow. “No! I’m Ad, you’re somebody else!” the two yelled at each other. “Ok stop,” I told the other two. They went quiet and looked at me. “I’m also Ad. We might all be Ads from alternate dimensions that each was put into one of the three of us. That or we are all the same single Ad that got stuck with three bodies to now use and had to split in order to do so,” I said to Sonata and Aria, most of that likely going over their heads. “Now, search your pockets. We need to know what we have on us,” I told the two before looking through my pockets, finding a wallet with over seven hundred dollars in it, a phone colored golden yellow, and a key to something. The other two found similar items in their pockets as well. I looked into the phone and saw a note in it. I opened it and it had a list of things to remember. I looked through the list and looked at the apartment building by us before looking at the other two. “Welp. We ended up at where we live at least,” I informed the two before going through the front door, them following behind. I look at the notes again and unlock room 6 before entering with the other two. The apartment was a little large but big enough for three occupants. We went straight to bed and gone to sleep, me being in the orange bed, Sonata the blue bed, and Aria the purple bed. Then the land of dreams took me before I knew no more. > Where, What, How? We Still Go There?! > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I woke up from the sounds of an alarm ringing. No wait, three alarms ringing. I groaned and sat up before looking to my right, seeing a dresser with a red alarm clock on top, currently ringing its bells off! I slapped my hand on the alarm and it stopped ring, the other two, by the sound of it, turned their alarms off as well. I yawned and got out of bed before going over to the small kitchen and make out a bowl of cereal. I ate the cereal and brushed my teeth before taking a shower and other morning things everyone does. After I finished I saw Aria going to take a shower and Sonata starting on a burrito that was in the fridge. I looked at the outfit I decided to wear, it being a regular pair of pants with a purple long sleeved shirt. My phone buzzed and I looked at it, the phone saying that we have twenty minutes until we gotta make it to school on time. I rose an eyebrow at this and shrugged. Guess we do go there still. Does that mean we missed a bunch of homework?! Dang it! The three of us put on blue jackets today and walked to the bus stop, our hoods up to hide our hair and faces. When the bus arrived we quickly found a seat in the back and sat down with purses for our stuff on our laps, Sonata at the window, me in the middle, and Aria at the end of the seat. We simply stayed quiet and didn’t gain anyone’s attention as the bus drove. It didn’t take too long until the bus stopped and the driver called out, “Canterlot High!” The three of us got out of our seat and walked off the bus with our purses over our shoulders. I looked at the students walking around, idly seeing no horse statue in the middle as well, and had this feeling in the back of my mind that I don’t need to hide my looks but I quickly shoved it away, no one likely remembers us in any type of good light and that could mean trouble. We walked into the building and went to our first class of the day. As we entered lunch and left class, Sonata noticed that it was a Taco Tuesday and dashed ahead of us, her hood almost flying off as she ran. I facepalmed, “Is it just me or does she have a similar personality to the original?” Aria nodded with a neutral expression on her face. “I believe we all are. I’m probably the part of the original that’s always bored or just monotonous. You like to take charge and are sadistic which a minor part of the original being the former and the latter being a larger portion of the original’s personality,” Aria said with seemingly no emotion, not like Maud but in her own way. We arrived at the cafeteria and I saw Sonata already leaving the food court with a tray full of tacos and chips with salsa. Aria and I got our trays and got a lunch of an apple, a single taco, and some chips. We quickly found Sonata, since we seem to be the only ones wearing blue jackets, by the corner and took seats. “Alright, we need to eat this quickly and catch up with our classes in two weeks, otherwise we’ll end up not going to this field trip to Camp Everfree,” I told the other two across from me. Sonata swallowed before speaking, “Why do we care about some boring camp? We hate the outdoors after all.” Aria facepalmed, “Because, idiot, there are special events that happen there. Or did your tiny brain forget that?” It seems the rivalry between the two like the real Sirens is starting up again. Before an argument could start I broke up the two, “Alright that’s enough being mean Aria. We really need to just stay on track. So quickly finish your lunches and get to work on your classes.” The two complied and I think a few students looked at us weirdly, likely overhearing what we were talking about. We finished up our last classes for the day and took the bus home at the back again. We got off the bus soon after and entered our apartment before immediately unloading some textbooks for Math, English, Science, Music, and Art. The ones before us took these with almost no consideration or effort I’d say since the teachers quietly commented how we ‘did nothing but sit in a seat and take up space’ or something like that. Math was easily floored since we all have our math skills, Science was a bit complicated but we figured it out in the end, all we had to do with Music was practice some notes of a guitar(which we luckily have the ability to do since w have one) and make an instrumental song out of it, English is pretty ok with a bit of shakiness in grammar but we’re fine, and Art was studying its history and certain techniques of drawing before taking a test when we think we’re ready. Time flew by as we studied and worked at our hardest to catch up and stay with the classes at the same time until two weeks passed before our eyes and we were at the final day we could redeem ourselves and be able to go after signing a permission form. The three of us are in a small, quiet classroom, after school with only eight people in the room. Those people being me, Aria, Sonata, and the five teachers we are being tested by today. The three of us aren’t wearing our hoods since the teachers are staff we somewhat trust with knowing who we are, that and keeping all that hair in a hood is very difficult to keep up. We started off with Discord, the Math teacher, and explained the various functions and operations you can do and how to do them in our heads as we were solving the test questions. For English we did a book report on a book the class is reading, a book that made absolutely no sense to us, before turning it into Mrs. Harshvoice, the English teacher. We got Science out of the way and gave our completed tests to the teacher before doing Art by answering history questions of certain pieces of art and other questions of techniques one can draw as we studied for. Then the final one was Music. That test was a little difficult since we couldn’t think of what to do and while singing is an optional way to test, I’m afraid we might put the teachers in a trance which will make them give us an automatic A+. We eventually gave up and quickly made a song in our heads before going back to the desks and took a deep breath. I started off, “We aren’t faaaaakessss.” “We are as real as yoooou,”, Aria sang after a few seconds. The song fully started after Sonata sang her first line, ”We are just like you, with hopes and dreeaams.” ”If you’re gonna stick to the past then that’s your choice, ma friend.” ”Though you will regret it-“ ”We shall respect your decision.” ”This little song has now passed.” ”Like the wind it was heard but never spoken about.” We then finished the song with Aria speaking the final lyrics,”We hope we’ve gained your attention and hope you’ll let us be freeee...” We all did a bow as everyone politely clapped at our performance and were dismissed. Now we gotta get home, sign these permission slips with the parents we don’t have and lied about, and hope that we succeeded. > Phew. We Made It. > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I woke up from the sounds of three alarms once more and turned mine off, the other two following soon after. I got up and yawned a little as I went out of the bedroom to the kitchen and had another bowl of cereal. As I was eating I saw Sonata enter the bathroom with a towel and heard the shower start running. After another morning routine finished we decided to wear white jackets today and entered the school with the hoods up once more. We arrived at school campus and only at lunch did we really find anything interesting while wandering, having finished eating. This girl was on a tree and getting rid of a branch to help a lonely sunflower get some sun. We mostly left her alone and started to class after watching the scene due to the bell ringing. Me, Sonata, and Aria were walking down the hallway, having just finished our last class, and saw that girl again. Now that we were closer I noticed that she had wild dark forest green hair, her skin was a pale green, and she was wearing a sweater of different shades of green. Her eyes were a melted chocolate like. She was leaning against a locker, looking a bit frustrated from something. Now us, being the kind sirens we are, decided to approach her. “You alright?” I asked her, my hood continuing to hide my face in a shadow. She glanced up and saw me and the girls surrounding her as the hallway emptied. “Um yes? Maybe? I'm not sure,” she sighed, hugging herself before her eyes fell to her feet. I sighed at this reaction, kinda expecting it. “Sorry if we’re being a bother. Did something happen?” I asked, Sonata and Aria taking a step back so as the girl won’t feel very trapped. She did relax a little and had a more welcoming look in her eye, massaging the side of her right arm with her left hand. “Nothing really, I just feel as if I'm fleeting constantly,” she said, glancing down the hallway before looking back. “You ever get the feeling, you never leave an impression?” she asked us, raising her brow slightly at us. I look at the other two and look back at the girl before nodding. “Back then, before we were known as the Dazzlings, we were nobodies. No one remembered us until we caused chaos, until we were cursed.” Sonata flinches at this, a face of guilt on her face as I reminded her of the mistake she made. What mistake you ask? It’s a secret. “Chaos?” The girl asked, wincing at what I said. She went silent for a moment before speaking up again, “Then again, you three have a way with words.” She whispered something after that but I couldn’t properly hear what she said. “Words only worked back before the Battle of the Bands. That’s what they call it, right?” I asked the girl. Sonata then spoke up, “We still are good with words technically.” “Yeah. But not you, airhead,” Aria then said, looking away in disgust. Sonata gave a glare towards the back of Aria’s head after that comment. I turned to the two. “Must you really get into another fight? Or do I have to break it up?” The two shook their heads before glaring at each other in the eyes. I heard a giggle from the girl before she spoke, “Um, thank you. For taking time to chat with me, I mean.” As the other two continued glaring I turned back to the girl with a smile. “It’s no problem. Before we go, I don’t believe we ever got your name. As you probably know, I’m Adagio, the two arguing are Sonata and Aria.” The two stop glaring for a second and wave, Sonata with energy and Aria with boredom and lack of energy, before glaring at each other once more. She gave us a rather weak smile and a nervous giggle, she’s definitely not used to socializing. She held out her hand and said, “My name is Wallflower... Wallflower Blush.” Nice name. I took her hand and gently shook it. “Nice to meet you Wallflower.” The other two finally stop glaring at each other and nodded at the girl, now known as Wallflower, with a smile, Aria’s more calm like while Sonata’s was ecstatic. Have we made a new friend? School has finished with no homework from any of our classes and we got those slips signed and turned in so we decided to find a restaurant to eat by the beach. We did find one eventually and as we waited to make our order I heard, and maybe even sensed, two children fighting each other about something. The other two and I looked at each other silently and nodded before starting to hum. “Go along and resolve your conflict,” I sang quietly. Sonata then sang a line, “Little children, you should calm down before consequences occur.” Some green mist came from the booth behind us and entered our amulets once more, the rubies glowing a deep red. “Now. Lower your voices. Let the anger fade from your mind as we take it in,” Aria sang, the fighting started to go quiet after Aria sang her line. But it completely stopped after my line, “The anger is gone, you are now calm. You aren’t greedy, you aren’t angry. You are calm and maturrrre.” We stopped and the last of the mist entered our amulets. A waiter then came and we ordered a burrito, a salad, and a breakfast sandwich. For drinks we had three sodas of a random kind. When the food came Sonata, obviously, took the burrito, Aria took the salad, and I took the breakfast sandwich. As we ate we looked out to the beach from our seats and admired the beautiful view. Once we finished, we payed and left towards our apartment as the day started to end. We changed into night clothes, showered, brushed our teeth, etc., before laying in our beds and closing our eyes.
