Secrets Revealed
It was a pleasant afternoon in Ponyville, and an especially pleasant one for Princess Twilight Sparkle because her longtime friend and sister figure Princess Cadance was in town to visit. Twilight noticed she came by herself rather than with Shining Armor and Flurry Heart, but she forgot about it as soon as she met Cadance; Shining Armor was probably busy taking care of some royal duties back in Canterlot with Flurry Heart at his side.
"Oh Twilight, it's so good to see you!" said Cadance, pulling the princess into a smothering hug. Twilight returned the embrace feeling a familiar sense of security as Cadance's hooves wrapped around her.
"Cadance! I'm glad you're here." Twilight looked up for a moment, thinking to herself. "Actually, I don't remember you or Shining having a visit scheduled. Why are you here?" Cadance held Twilight for a second longer before pulling away reluctantly.
"Actually," the older princess lowered her voice, "I was wondering if I could talk to you in private."
"Of course. Whatever it is you want to talk about, I'm here," Twilight said with a smile. If Cadance had something on her mind, Twilight would be more than happy to help her. After all, she had confided in Cadance many times in the past, and they didn't have to worry about holding back in front of one another; the two ponies were far past the point of needing to worry about offending each other.
The two princesses slipped into the quiet of the friendship castle, Cadance matching Twilight's pace as they navigated down the empty halls side-by-side. They walked in silence, the only sound being the dull thump of their hooves echoing off the cold stone floor.
"Where are we heading, Twilight?" Cadance asked eventually.
Twilight gave her a reassuring look. "Somewhere quiet," she replied. "It also happens to be one of my favourite places in Equestria!" Cadance giggled quietly as they came to a halt in front of two large, wooden, brown double doors; she didn't need to see the interior to know they were standing in front of a massive library. Cadance smiled in appreciation as Twilight held the door open with her magic to let her through before heading in herself and taking the lead once again.
They arrived at the centre of the library, surrounded on all sides by shelves and shelves of books. Cadance noticed that everything was flawless and polished without a speck of dust in sight. It was clear that somepony spent a lot of time taking care of the place. Cadance took a seat beside Twilight on the carpeted floor and noticed that she had already selected a book to read. "Twilight, are you ready?" asked Cadance.
"Oh, right!" Twilight's horn glowed pink as a similarly coloured circle emcompassed the area around them. "This is a sound barrier. Whatever we say in here, we'll be the only ones to hear it."
Cadance nodded and took a deep breath. "Before we start, can I say something please? I just want to say... please don't be offended by what I tell you. It's a sensitive topic, but I think you'll understand."
Twilight touched her hoof to Cadance's and looked up at her. "I swear by the power of friendship that I will support you no matter what."
That was what Cadance had needed to hear. She took a deep breath before letting it all go. "Twilight... I know you love Flurry Heart with all your heart and so do I, but the only reason she exists is because Shining Armor raped me in the asshole," she said quietly. It felt good to finally admit it to somepony. "It was the night of our wedding. We were turning in for the night, and I told Shining that I was I was too tired to have sex with him so maybe we could wait until later, but he wouldn't take no for an answer." As the words flowed from her own lips, Cadance felt herself shiver at the memory.

Cadance couldn't believe her ears. This wasn't the Twilight she knew. "You don't even care that your brother raped me!?" she cried.
"You probably deserved it!" The silence that followed those words was deafening. Twilight opened her mouth as if to say something, but she couldn't get any words out. Cadance flinched as the words registered before pouncing on top of Twilight, bowling her over and holding her down. "Cadance, wait. I didn't mean it!" she pleaded, but something had changed. There was a something in Cadance's eyes that Twilight hadn't noticed before.
